My Star Trek Fics Masterlist
Tumblr media
The Prince.
A trilogy following Khan in the Alternate Timeline, before and after Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), his love for Marla McGivers and his turbulent interaction with Captain James T. Kirk. (Please note that I started this series way back in 2013, and I don’t feel like it’s a good representation of my current style, but I still have bits I’m proud of.)
The Wrathful and the Sullen. Rated General Audiences. 18,362 words.  When Lt. Marla McGivers is recruited as a historian in the discovery of a mysterious 300 year old Earth vessel, she is unexpectedly torn between her duty to Starfleet and her inexplicable devotion to a warlord out of time—Khan.
Sins of the Lion. Rated General Audiences. 69,502 words.  Before the USS Enterprise can commence its 5-year mission, it has one last task assigned to it: Deliver the cryo-tubes of Khan and his crew to a research facility. What Kirk and his crew don't expect is the flame from Khan's past named Marla McGivers. Sequel to fic "The Wrathful and the Sullen" and the film Star Trek Into Darkness.
The Fraudulent. Rated Teen and Up Audiences. 147,332 words.  Captain Kirk left Khan and Marla McGivers on Ceti Alpha V with the other 72 augments. Six years later, he learns that the planet is doomed to destruction. Sequel to fic "Sins of the Lion" and conclusion to the trilogy.

Indeed, the Worst of Times. Rated General Audience. 1,259 words.  Spock gave Jim an antique book for his birthday. But Jim is getting too blind to read it and now Spock realizes his faux pas, so he consults Dr. McCoy.
What Lies in Linguistics. Rated Mature. 1,177 words.  Early in their relationship, Spock is still learning how to express his feelings for Jim.
The Start of a Resonant Frequency. Rated General Audiences. 1,023 words. Kirk and Spock have only known each other for a few months, which leaves room for uncertainty when Kirk is held hostage by pirates. For the AI-less Whumptober Day 5: Hostage / kidnapping / Held at gunpoint

Star Wars Crossover
Saber of Destiny. Rated General Audience. 12,815 words.  The Enterprise is investigating weird readings from the Guardian of Forever. Then a severed hand pops out holding a lightsaber. Time starts falling apart. Star Trek/Star Wars crossover.

When I was a teenager and still on Neopets I was part of a pretty big Star Trek guild and eventually became part of its council, with the solemn duty of creating weekly polls. Well one day I created the poll "Which would win in a fight? Borg Cube or Death Star?". Naturally, since this was a Star Trek guild, the answer was overwhelmingly "Borg Cube", but someone did have the rationality to point out we were biased.
So I look up a pretty prominent Star Wars guild and message one of their council and ask them to poll the same question and get back to me in a week. They do, and naturally the fuckin geeks said "Death Star".
So then I look up a Stargate guild and messaged the lead council member, saying the same thing, and they get back to me almost immediately saying that the Death Star would immediately one-shot a Borg Cube but they would never be able to do it again to another Cube. And I took that wisdom back to my guild and we were mollified, and for one moment the Nerd World was peaceful.

Fans celebrate the casting of Nichelle Nichols as Uhura as a moment for actors of color, which they should be.
But I also wanted to spotlight the casting of these iconic guest starring characters, seen in episodes of TOS.
Tumblr media
Percy Rodriguez was cast as flag officer Commodore Stone, who was Kirk's superior in the chain of command. Stone is one of the officers that presides over Kirk's court martial.
Tumblr media
Booker Bradshaw was the original Dr. M'Benga, seen in two episodes of TOS. at the time, M'Benga was Starfleet's first and only medical specialist in Vulcan Physiology, having spent a year's residency on Vulcan.
Tumblr media
One of the finest minds in computer technology in the 23rd century, and creator of the duotronic computer, Dr. Richard Daystrom, was played by William Marshall, whose work in Shakespeare, and his roles as Paul Robeson and Frederick Douglass, added to the gravitas of his portrayal.
A flag officer, a specialist in Vulcan medicine, and one of the finest minds in a field of technology, played by actors of color, during the turbulent 1960s.

... and why?
Edit: It's my own fault for not clarifying, but the reason Post Earth is in quotation marks doesn't denote the future, but a scifi setting where humanity from Earth branches outward.

everyone THINKS the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars is "science fiction vs. science fantasy," but it's actually "we will drop the most devastating lore/backstory concept ever as a throwaway sentence and never elaborate" vs. "we're going to make an entire movie or multi-season television show specifically dedicated to elaborating on a throwaway sentence"

Things I Learned Selling Smutty Fan Art At A Comic Convention
The overwhelming majority of women at comic conventions are into smut.
They all feel free to be excited about seeing smut around their friends, but they sneak away from the group 20 minutes later to actually buy it.
The majority of men are horrified by the sight of a guy with his shirt off.
Something can be so gay that homophobes can’t linger long enough to spout their bigoted views, lest they be seen standing near gay stuff.
Tween girls LOVE offensive stickers. LOVE. THEM.
Dads will reluctantly buy tween daughters almost anything they want.
Those dads draw the line at stickers that say “fuck me like the government.”
I knew anime was huge, but Jesus Christ, I was the only person in a Star Trek uniform at a COMIC CONVENTION. It was like 70% anime cosplay.
For all the shit people talk online, Star Wars is still huuuuuge. The day I went as Obi-Wan I was stoically told “May the force be with you” all day long by fellow Jedi.
When your friend says “if you’re going as Obi-Wan, I’m going as a sexy Anakin” you are apparently not allowed to ask “Hayden Christensen or Jake Lloyd?”
