They (whoever you’d like) celebrate Ava’s birthday, the year that she turns older than Shannon was? (Sorry this one’s sad)
Ava turns away from the bonfire and waits for her eyes to adjust before she scans the darkness of the beach. Mary's sitting in the sand down towards the curve of the shore, silhouetted in the moonlight. Ava works her hand free of Bea's, kisses the backs of her knuckles. "I'll be back in a bit," she promises.
Her back aches with the movement of standing and she takes a moment to bend double, to let gravity tug at her spine, raids the cooler for two of Bea's sparkling waters and trudges down the beach. Mary doesn't look up at her approach, just leans back on her hands and digs her feet into the sand.
"Hey, kid," she says, almost soft enough to be swallowed by the low rumble of the waves.
"Hey." She settles down at Mary's side, places one of the drink cans near her hip. "How old do I have to be before you stop calling me that?"
Mary's body stiffens as though to a gut punch. "This old, probably," she admits, gaze still fixed out at sea. "Otherwise I'm going to start feeling like I'm calling Shan a kid, and that'd just be weird."
Ava wets her lips. "Is this–"
"You're older now than she ever was."
Ava nods, fiddles with the tab of her can. "When was her birthday?"
"She didn't take a new name when she joined, so she got St. Senan's patron day. March 8th."
"I meant her actual birthday?"
Mary's mouth goes lopsided. "The summer solstice," she admits quietly. "June 21st."
"Oh." Ava's shoulders fall, and she gnaws at her lip before continuing. "Is that… Is that what you and Bea were doing last week? Celebrating her birthday?"
"Beatrice didn't tell you?"
Ava shakes her head. "She said it wasn't her place."
Mary scoffs a little. "It's as much her place as mine," she replies, casting a glance towards the bonfire. "But yeah. We went back to Antequera. Back to the old Cat's Cradle." Her voice catches in her throat, and Ava reaches across the chasm between them, lays her hand beside Mary's. Mary grasps it, hangs on tight. "Sorry, Ava, I didn't mean to get all fucking emotional tonight."
"It's okay. Do you two do that every year?"
"All but the first after she– All but the first after she died. I went alone that year."
Ava picks at the thread Mary's left hanging. "Because she was too busy mourning me?"
"Something like that." She squeezes Ava's hand. "I didn't begrudge her it then and I don't now, you know. I'm glad she's got you. I'm glad I didn't have to watch her turn into me."
"Turn into what, a badass?"
"Yeah, sure." Mary's teeth glint bright in the moonlight as she cracks a smile. "So glad I got to watch her turn into a lovesick softie instead."

Shepard asks: 4, 22, 39 for Caleb?
Ahhhh, my boy!!! Thank you for asking about him! <3
Questions are from this list
4. Is your Shepard any good at poker?
Hmmm. Excellent question! I don't think Caleb's bad at poker, necessarily, but I don't think it's really his thing. When he sees a deck of cards, he's not thinking of the games he could play with it but is wondering if he should be doing a card reading for himself (or someone else nearby) instead. :D That said, he is good enough to beat Donnelly in ME2. Maybe with a bit of assistance from Gabby. ;) (shh, it's a secret between them! lol)
22. What’s the last thing Shepard ate before the final reaper showdown?
Honestly? He forgets to eat. He's so damned busy trying to make sure everything's ready, etc. he doesn't even think about eating. Kaidan, of course, has him figured out by this point and gives him a protein bar on the way down to the shuttle bay before they land on Earth and will NOT let him off the lift until he's eaten it. Caleb (still getting used to the requirements for biotics) doesn't argue and eats it.
39. Do they keep around any sentimental items?
What kind of Irishman would he be if he didn't have anything sentimental? LOL He has several things, actually.
a) the St. Senan's medal he wears with his dog tags that Athair gives him as he's leaving Ireland when he's 18. It gets lost in the shuffle somewhere after Alchera and he goes all of ME2 without it, but Athair (thanks to a little finagling from Anderson) comes to see Caleb when he's incarcerated and gives him a new one.
b) the deck of cards that Saoirse gives him back during his Reds days when she teaches him how to read them. These are also lost over Alchera. When Abby figures that out (probably because of something Tali or Garrus or Joker says), she gets him a new deck of cards to use.
c) A small book of Irish poetry he and Ashley find on the Citadel together during ME1. He'd bought it for her after their talk about poetry, but when she's lost on Virmire, he holds onto it. He gives it to Abby just after the Battle of the Citadel (they meet on Earth). She has it when she comes on board the SR2 in ME2 and leaves it with him.
d) I suppose you could say his N7 tattoo on his right arm is sentimental, in a way. He doesn't get it just because he's made N7, but because he and Coats go out to celebrate, get slightly sloshed and when a waitress gets the two of them confused (they look enough alike to cause confusion with a quick glance), they decide to get tattoos to tell them apart. Coats suggests the N7 design, Caleb adds the Celtic braid. (in reverse: Caleb arranges for Coats to get one on his ass with a shamrock that says "kiss me I'm Irish" around it)
e) after the war, when he and Kaidan and the kids are back at the Alenko orchard, there are others. Their wedding rings (claddagh rings) are definitely sentimental to the both of them. The moose things that Abby sends them because apparently the moose becomes a 'thing'. The piano that Kaidan gets Caleb their first Christmas together. etc.
Thank you so much for such wonderful questions about Caleb!!!

Saint of the day August 31
Bl. Richard Bere, 1537 A.D. English martyr. Born at Glastonbury, he studied at Oxford and the Inns of Court before entering the Carthusians in London. When he and his fellow monks voiced their opposition to the planned divorce of King Henry VIII from Catherine of Aragon, they were starved to death in Newgate Prison.
St. Raymond Nonnatus, Roman Catholic Priest. He remained as hostage for several slaves when his money ran out and was sentenced to be impaled when the governor learned that he had converted several Mohammedans. He escaped the death sentence because of the ransom he would bring, but was forced to run the gauntlet. He was then tortured for continuing his evangelizing activities but was ransomed eight months later by Peter Nolasco. Feastday Aug 31
St. Aidan of Lindisfarne, 651 A.D. Aidan of Lindisfarne, born in Ireland, may have studied under St. Senan before becoming a monk at Iona. At the request of King Oswald of Northumbria, Aidan went to Lindisfarne as bishop and was known throughout the kingdom for his knowledge of the Bible, his learning, his eloquent preaching, his holiness, his distaste for pomp, his kindness to the poor, and the miracles attributed to him. He founded a monastery at Lindisfarne that became known as the English Iona and was a center of learning and missionary activity for all of northern England. He died in 651 at the royal castle at Bamburgh.
B. ALFRED HILDEFONS SCHUSTER, CARDINAL, ARCHBISHOP OF MILAN
STS. JOSEPH OF ARIMATHEA AND NICODEMUS, Joseph of Arimathea, a member of the Sanhedrin, and Nicodemus, a Pharisee, bury the dead Jesus in a tomb that Joseph had thought would be his own. Both at first fear to follow the Lord publically, but together, these learned men perform for him an office of love. They are celebrated on August 31.

Philip wanted to sue The Crown after being blamed for sister’s death
Duke consulted royals’ favorite law firm after plotline left him ‘hurt and upset’
The Duke of Edinburgh spoke to his lawyers about suing Netflix over a false portrayal of him in The Crown that left him deeply “upset”.
Prince Philip consulted Farrer & Co, the blue-blooded law firm that has advised the royal family since the 1930s, after the series featured a plotline about the death of his older sister, Princess Cecilie.
Hugo Vickers, a royal historian and author, said: “I know Prince Philip consulted his lawyer about it, to ask What can I do about it?’ He was very upset about the way that was portrayed. He was human. He could be hurt like anybody else.”
The plot features in the penultimate episode of the second series, which was first broadcast in 2017, without a fictional disclaimer. It includes imagined scenes in which Philip, then aged 16, is involved in a misdemeanour at his boarding school, Gordonstoun, resulting in him not being allowed to spend his half-term break in Germany with Cecilie, who is heavily pregnant with her fourth child. In the Netflix drama, she is depicted telling Philip she will consequently be forced to fly to London to attend a wedding with her family.
Cecilie, 26, the third of Philip’s four older sisters, was killed in a plane crash in November 1937 with her husband and their two young sons when their plane hit a factory chimney in fog near Ostend. She had given birth during the flight and her baby’s body was found alongside her in the wreckage.
In the Netflix dramatisation of Cecilie’s funeral, their father, Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, says to onlookers and a tearful Philip: “I’m surprised he dare show himself here. Had it not been for Philip and his indiscipline she would never have taken that flight. It’s true, isn’t it boy? You’re the reason we’re all here burying my favourite child. Get him out of here.”
However, her decision to travel to London had nothing to do with Philip, who was particularly close to Cecilie. Her death deeply affected him and in later life he recalled being summoned to his headmaster’s study and informed of her death: “I have the very clearest recollection of the profound shock with which I heard the news of the crash and the death of my sister and her family.”
While staying with the Queen and Philip, a close friend of the royal family said Philip had expressed anger at his portrayal. “I remember sitting next to the Duke of Edinburgh at a dinner, and him being so upset about it and what it [The Crown] was saying about him.”
Vickers, the author of The Crown Dissected, which sets out errors in the series, said: “[Philip] was not displeased when I put the record straight.” Philip chose not to pursue legal action and the long-held royal mantra of “never complain, never explain” prevailed.
It can also be revealed that the Prince of Wales believes The Crown is “damaging” to the royal family. A close friend of Prince William, who is played by the child actors Timothee Sambor and Senan West in the new series, said he found the fallout from the series increasingly difficult as the events portrayed come closer to the present day.
The friend said: “He has spoken about it, and now, as it is coming closer to the present, he is particularly concerned about it. William does think it is damaging. The royal family know a lot of it is nonsense, but it is really harsh and hurtful.”
The revelations give new insight into how personally wounding The Crown has proved for some members of the royal family, and how opposed their views are to those of the Duke of Sussex, who is working with Netflix on two projects as part of a his multimillion-pound deal.
In an interview with James Corden last year, Harry said the series was not “strictly accurate” but said it was “loosely based on the truth” and gave a “rough idea” of the pressures of royal life. He added that he is “way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing stories written about my family or my wife”.

Elizabeth Debicki is channeling her inner Princess Diana.
PHOTO: TOM WARGACKI/WIREIMAGE; SPLASHNEWS.COM
From People .com Sept 5, 2022
Elizabeth Debicki is channeling her inner Princess Diana.
The 32-year-old Australian actress was recently seen on set as the Princess of Wales for her role in The Crown, filming a milestone moment in Prince William's teenage life.
For the season 5 scene, shot in Winchester, England, Debicki layered a cerulean blazer over a belted black dress with a matching handbag and pumps, just like Diana did in September 1995 to join Prince Charles (played in the show by Dominic West) and drop off their eldest son at the elite Eton College. Landing the look, the Tenet star also wore a replica of the princess' sapphire and diamond engagement ring on her hand.
Fans got a first glimpse of Senan West in character as teenage William. It was announced last year that Dominic's real-life 13-year-old son will play a younger version of the future king in The Crown's latest installment. At the time, Variety reported that Senan would appear in the final episodes of the fifth season after his audition tape "caught the attention of the show's producers."
Photo: SPLASHNEWS.COM
As seen on set, Senan and Dominic strolled in suits similar to those worn by the royals for drop-off day. Though Prince Harry, then 10, also joined his parents and brother for the important morning at the prestigious institute, an onscreen counterpart was not seen in the snaps. (In real life, Prince Harry would also enroll at Eton in 1998.)
While the cameras continue to roll for the Netflix drama's next chapter, casting news was revealed last week for the roles of Prince William and his future wife, Kate Middleton, in season 6 of the royal drama.

While newcomer Meg Bellamy will play Kate, Prince William will be portrayed by multiple actors as the character ages: 16-year-old Rufus Kampa and 21-year-old Ed McVey. All three young actors will count The Crown as their first professional television appearance.
Although The Crown's creators have said they have no plans to catch up to modern times, it's speculated that the show will depict the beginning of William and Kate's romance during their time together at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
The show will also cover the events surrounding the death of Princess Diana. Prince William was 15 and Prince Harry was 12 at the time of their mother's death.

Though season 5 was initially intended to be the hit series' curtain call, creators changed their minds and promised that the historical drama will continue to rule the streamer's queues for a sixth and final season.
"As we started to discuss the storylines for series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons," creator Peter Morgan said in July 2020. "To be clear, series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail."
*The Crown Season 5 premieres this November!

top five things that happened in gotham
oh god fuck I don't REMEMBER anything that happened in Gotham I didn't even watch it all
when Fish Mooney was auditioning girls to ??? psychosexually torture an old mob boss by reminding him of his mom or something?? and part of the audition was making out with Fish lmao what??? girl you can't do that that has to be illegal. I know you spend every day killing people and giving Oswald Cobblepot swirlies but there has to be a line. this is a hostile workplace. there's a special place in hell for women who make other women tongue them down to get a job.
the gay social event of the YEAR ie Oswald and Ed breaking up without ever even dating because Oswald killed the kinky librarian who was a doppelganger of Ed's ex girlfriend that he murdered and then Ed told him he was terminally unfuckable. I'm 99% sure that's how it happened. and then Oswald turned him into a fucking conversation piece in his nightclub??? MESSY. all future gay brunches RUINED. the DRAMA the PANACHE the way every annoying homosexual rogue's messenger apps must have been on literal fire that day??? exquisite. that was camp.
uuuuh god fuck did Victor Zsasz ever show hole. that sounds like something he would do. he should have. I would have kept watching the show specifically for that. but in the absence of that I will count literally every time Anthony Carrigan was onscreen being a certified little freak because that was really sincerely hot. I have problems.
do you guys remember when some guy who was like ??? running for mayor maybe and probably fucking his sister decided to honeytrap Bruce Wayne for some reason but Bruce was like 10 so it was just him and a pre-pubescent girl awkwardly existing in the same vicinity as each other? and also that girl's name was SILVER ST. CLOUD??? which is insane for sure but like. listen. she is REAL she's an actual existing DC Comics character who I think was one of Bruce Wayne's very first disposable fake girlfriends way back in like 1939 so having her be one of Bruce's first love interests in the show is kind of a clever nod to that but. uh. her name is SILVER ST. CLOUD which raises more questions about this world than the serial killer who offed people by tying them to extra-strong helium balloons as if he was inspired by that Senan Byrne vine.
also that episode where they got tired of beating around the bush and not using regular degular batman villains and broke out the Scarecrow but he turned out to be a shitty proto Scarecrow who was the mainline Scarecrow's FATHER and Jonathan Crane ie the future Scarecrow was just this gawky pale teenager. I have to assume that when he Scarecrows up in like 10 years the GCPD's first stop will be the son of the guy who was doing this last time, which seems like it's really going to take a lot of mystery out of the whole affair. this one is actually a shitty #5 it wasn't even funny. I'm sorry.

The Crown Casts Prince William and Kate Middleton Actors: See Photos
"The Crown Casts Prince William and Kate Middleton Actors: See Photos" https://people.com/royals/the-crown-casts-prince-william-kate-middleton-see-actors-photos-side-by-side-royals/
The Crown has revealed the lookalike actors who will play the future Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in season 6 of the royal drama.
While newcomer Meg Bellamy will take on the role of Kate, Prince William will be portrayed by multiple actors as the character ages: 16-year-old Rufus Kampa and 21-year-old Ed McVey.
All three young actors will count The Crown as their first professional television appearance.
Bellamy and Kampa were auditioned by casting directors after submitting self-taped videos following a casting call on social media, according to Deadline, which was the first to report the casting news. Meanwhile, McVey graduated from Drama Centre London in 2021 and has understudied theater roles.
Just last month, an advertisement on the website Casting Talent was looking for an "exceptional young actor" between the ages of 18 and 35 to portray Prince William.
"This is a significant role in this award-winning drama, and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance," the ad said. They add that no previous professional acting experience is required to land the part.
Earlier this year, Netflix was on the hunt for an actress to play Kate. The Crown will reportedly feature Prince William's future wife on season 6 of the show, which will reportedly cover the late '90s and early 2000.
It was also previously announced that the teenage son of Dominic West, who is taking over the role of Prince Charles for the series' final two seasons, will portray a younger version of Prince William. Senan West was cast after his audition tape "caught the attention of the show's producers."
Although The Crown's creators have said they have no plans to catch up to modern times, it's speculated that the show will depict the beginning of Prince William and Kate's romance during their time together at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
The show will also cover the events surrounding the death of Princess Diana. Prince William was 15 (and his younger brother, Prince Harry, was 12) at the time of their mother's death.
Though season 5 was initially intended to be the series' curtain call, creators changed their minds and promised that the historical drama will continue to rule Netflix queues for a sixth and final season.
"As we started to discuss the storylines for series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons," creator Peter Morgan said in July 2020. "To be clear, series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.

WIP Wednesday
Ages ago, I was given a prompt idea by @mtreebeardiles for Caleb and Kaidan and their first wedding anniversary. I started it, but then they kind of clammed up on me. Until yesterday. So, back to working on that idea it seems. This snippet is from that prompt.
~~~
When Kaidan meets his husband’s gaze yet again, he finds his eyes twinkling now. Definitely amusement. Kaidan pauses, calculating just how long it’s been since the last time he was home on leave. Two months? Three? Something like that.
Twinkling though they might be, he has no doubt Caleb is evaluating him just as much in return. Then, his lips twitch; Kaidan swallows tightly. His husband might be amused, but the twitch is more of an invitation, a reminder of what Kaidan’s missed these past few months.
And it’s an invitation he can’t resist. Crossing the room in two strides, he closes the distance and brushes his lips across his husband’s. Light and easy, their usual greeting to one another; there’ll no doubt be time for more later on, after he figures out the puzzle of why he’s here…
As he steps back, Kaidan takes in the full presence of his husband. Since leaving the Alliance, Caleb’s gone to great lengths to dress more casually, more like a civilian than a soldier, and Kaidan has to admit, he’s come up with a good look. Worn jeans and a button-down shirt that lies open at the collar. A glint of silver is just visible beneath the edge – the St. Senan’s medallion Caleb always wears – but paired with something darker Kaidan can’t quite make out. Briefly, he wonders if the absence of dog tags is responsible.
But it’s his husband’s hair that triggers Kaidan’s grin; longer, more tousled, a few strands falling past his brow and into his eyes. Reaching out, Kaidan flicks them out of Caleb’s face. “You –”
“– took your suggestion?” A flash of white behind an easy smile that comes out more and more frequently these days. “Aye.” Caleb’s smile slips up another notch on each side. “Figured I should live a little now that I have the chance.”
SAINTS OF THE DAY FOR APRIL 29
ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA, VIRGIN, DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH, PATRONESS OF EUROPE AND OF ITALY
St. Endellion, 6th century. Virgin recluse honored at St. Endellion, in Cornwall, England. She was the sister of St. Nectan of Hartland, and the daughter of Brychan of Brecknock.
St. Wilfrid the Younger, 744 A.D. Benedictine abbot and bishop of York, England. A monk and disciple of St. John of Beverley, he studied at Whitby Abbey and received ordination. He became John's chaplain when John was named bishop of York, and received appointment as abbot of the cathedral community in the city. Soon after, he was appointed John's coadjutor and succeeded to the see at York at his benefactor's passing in 721. He eventually retired to a monastery, most likely Ripon, where he died.
St. Senan, 7th century. Welsh hermit. Owing to the confusion of records and traditions of this time and region, it is difficult to determine precise details of his life, but he is known to have labored in the northern districts of Wales.
St. Dichu, 5th century. First convert of St. Patrick in Ulster, Ireland. He is listed as a swineherd in some lists and in others as the son of an Ulster chieftain. Opposed to Patrick originally, Dichu converted and gave Patrick a church in Saul, the capital of Lecale in County Down.
St. Fiachan, 7th century. Disciple of St. Carthage the Younger, a native of Munster, Ireland. He was a monk in Lismore Abbey.
St Michael's College 3 Collinstown collge 2 A fanatic result for the u15s this afternoon as they began their league campaign in Railway Union. Mark flood put St Michael's into the lead 20 minutes in before Collinstown got one back shortly before the break. St Michaels started brightly in the second half only to go one down after soom good Collinstown play. Mark flood equalised from the spot before John O'Sullivan clinched the winner with a stunning left footed strike from outside the box. Dylan Flood in the heart of the defence and Sean Norton on the wing also gave note worthy displays. Well done to all the lads involved. Thanks to Mr Lahiff and Mr Leon J McGuinesss, B Quinn, Senan Henry, Ben Costello, Dylan Flood, Mark Flood, Sean Mcgovern, Oisin Carey, Adam McMarrow, John O'Sullivan, Sean Norton, Conall Curren, Matthew O'Connor
