FAUQUIER FREE CLINIC WINTER 2021 UPDATE
12/07/2021
BY SJECWARRENTON
FAUQUIER FREE CLINIC WINTER 2021 UPDATE
Since 1996, members of Saint James’ Church have been providing dinners to those who volunteer their services to the Fauquier Free Clinic. The majority of volunteers come directly from their day jobs, leaving no time to have something to eat. Over the past twenty-five years, Saint James’ longest standing outreach program has experienced periods of low interest and support. We are in that position again today.
Since COVID (March, 2020), we have continued to provide food in some form, either lunches or dinners. This has been possible solely because of a mere handful of faithful parishioners. But the future of this program depends on enlisting new participants, especially members from a younger generation, who are willing to make long-term commitments. Free Clinic volunteers provide invaluable medical, dental and mental health care to people in our community who need help. You can show your appreciation of them by providing a casserole, salad, rolls or dessert to support St. James’ monthly obligation to the clinic.
Along with Rob Marino, whose message follows below, I would like to sincerely thank Sue Brinkman, Eileen Burgwyn, Joanna Edrington, Joe and Amy Errera, Sue Gruszewski, Anne Hall, Carey Kane, Ninie Laing, Karla MacKimmie, Michele Price, Nadia and Katie Rossi, Jessica Summers and Margy Thomas. Your longstanding support ensured that this most worthy outreach program did not fail in 2021.
Babs Alliman
Message from the Fauquier Free Clinic
I wanted to write to thank the members of Saint James’ once again for supporting the volunteers and staff at the Free Clinic over the past year. Despite all the challenges we have faced we are feeling hopeful about the health and well-being of this community going forward. We especially appreciate how flexible you have been, bringing lunches instead of supper when we needed daytime help, and then back to dinners when we needed that! As always, the first week of each month is when we have the best food, and it makes volunteering so much easier when we have your help.
This year we have helped the most patients in our history thanks to a lot of hard work and commitment, but also because the needs of the people we serve have never been bigger. I am still surprised by the hardships people are experiencing, including unstable housing, food insecurity, and poor health. We are doing our best to respond. The Free Clinic has administered more than 900 Covid vaccines here on site, and helped many more to connect to care in other places. I do feel like we are turning the corner and things are going to get better. Your partnership and support mean a great deal! Thank you for all that you do.
Rob Marino, Director

Free Health Care Alternatives
It is important for you to know the clinics for people without health insuranceIt is essential that you receive medical attention even without insurance, it is your life, your health and you cannot play, so you are looking for them and below you will find a list so that you can go to them despite not having insurance that covers you.
Alternative clinics for people without health insurance
If you do not have insurance, in addition to clinics for people without health insurance accounts with health insurance alternatives, for example:
ER, is an emergency room that you can go to in the event that you suffer a very serious injury or life-threatening illness, go to the ER closest to your home, as you do not need to have medical insurance.
The medical hospital has an emergency room where you can go, since no public hospital will deny your care even though you do not have insurance, as it is different from a private hospital where your emergency condition will be considered.
If you do not have insurance and in the hospital you receive a treatment or surgery after which they provide you with a bill that you cannot pay because it exceeds your financial situation, you can speak with the billing department to reduce your bill or have it forgiven or at least you can request an interest-free payment plan.
The HRSA, through the health center program of the administration of health services and resources, has health centers in the United States where you can go if you suffer an injury or illness considered minor, that is, you can consult a doctor at a free clinic.
Health centers that offer low-cost and free services including oral health services, care for substance use disorder, mental health care, pharmacies and primary care participate in the program.
HRSA also offers support and prevention of health problems and treatment services including education.
You can go to retail health care clinics without an appointment. They offer you health care at a lower cost than an office visit and at a discount in emergency rooms.
You can go to urgent care centers including weekends without having to have insurance. They are health care centers that include fractures, infections, allergic reaction, animal bites, flu, etc. And they’ll even see you faster than in an emergency room.
Direct Primary Care Providers is one way for you to obtain uninsured health care by paying a low monthly, quarterly, or annual fee directly to a professional for a number of primary care services and for office visits.
You can also enroll in Medicaid, depending on your income you can access free or at least low-cost health coverage that is provided to low-income children and families, the elderly, people with disabilities and pregnant women.
However, depending on the state where you reside, the Medicaid program was extended to people with an income level that is less than 138% of the limit that is considered poverty.
To find out if you are eligible you can access heslthcare.gov or by Medicaid agency which corresponds to your state.

Listerine was once sold as a floor cleaner
First detailed by Dr. Joseph Lawrence and Jordan Wheat Lambert in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1879 as careful disinfectant, it was given to dental specialists for oral consideration in 1895 and it was the first over-the-counter mouthwash sold in the United States in 1914. In 1885, Lawrence offered his offer to the Lambert Pharmacal Company. As indicated by Freakonomics:" Listerine, for example, was developed in the nineteenth century as ground-breaking careful sterile. It was later sold, in refined structure, as both a story cleaner and a solution for gonorrhea. However, it was anything but a runaway accomplishment until the 1920s, when it was pitched as an answer for "persistent halitosis"— a then dark clinical term for awful breath. Listerine's new advertisements included hopeless young ladies and men, enthusiastic for marriage yet killed by their mate's spoiled breath. "Would i be able to be content with him despite that?" one lady asked herself. Until that time, terrible breath was not traditionally thought to be such a calamity. In any case, Listerine changed that. As the publicizing researcher James B. Twitchell states, "Listerine didn't make mouthwash as much as it made halitosis." In only seven years, the organization's incomes rose from $115,000 to more than $8 million. " Along these lines, Listerine turned into an unmistakable and early illustration of a bigger pattern: promoting efforts imagining issues that the item is asserted to settle. In 1955, Lambert Pharmacal converged with New York-based Warner-Hudnut and became Warner-Lambert Pharmaceutical Company and fused in Delaware with its corporate base camp in Morris, New Jersey.[5] In 2000 Pfizer procured Warner-Lambert.[6] Among Lambert's resources was the first land for Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. From 1921 until the mid-1970s, Listerine was likewise advertised as preventive and solution for colds and sore throats. In 1976, the Federal Trade Commission decided that these cases were deceiving, and that Listerine had "no viability" at either forestalling or mitigating the manifestations of sore throats and colds. Warner-Lambert was requested to quit making the cases, and to remember for the following 10.2 million dollars of Listerine promotions explicit notice that "in spite of earlier publicizing, Listerine won't help forestall colds or sore throats or diminish their severity."For a brief timeframe, starting in 1927, the Lambert Pharmaceutical Company even advertised Listerine Cigarettes. 1930s ads guaranteed that applying Listerine to the scalp could forestall dandruff. Listerine was bundled in a glass bottle inside a folded cardboard cylinder for almost 80 years before the first redoes were made to the brand; in 1992, Cool Mint Listerine was acquainted also with the first Listerine Antiseptic recipe and, in 1994, the two brands were presented in plastic containers unexpectedly. In 1995, FreshBurst was added,[12] then in 2003 Natural Citrus. In 2006 another expansion to the "less exceptional" assortment, Vanilla Mint, was delivered. As of now, eight various types of Listerine are available in the U.S. furthermore, somewhere else: Original, Cool Mint, FreshBurst, Natural Citrus, Vanilla Mint, Advanced with Tartar Control (Arctic mint), Tooth Defense (mint shield), and Whitening pre-brush wash (clean mint). The latest expansion is the Listerine Total Care, promoted as the Most Complete Listerine. It professes to decrease plaque, fortify teeth to forestall depressions, forestall tartar develop to keep teeth white, spruce breath for as long as 12 hours, however doesn't profess to forestall gum disease.

It is an interesting street, very eclectic, and not in a conservation area.
The couple had initially considered remodelling their homewhich dates from around 1880.
It does not function well, suffering from being damp, draughty and extremely difficult to heat.

UPDATE ON THE FAUQUIER FREE CLINIC
04/23/2020
BY ANNA GALINA PETTY
UPDATE ON THE FAUQUIER FREE CLINIC
Once again, St. James’ will not be providing dinner to the volunteers at the Fauquier Free Clinic on Thursday, May 7th. We will, however, be dropping off an assortment of grab-and-go snacks, such as packets of nuts, protein bars and cheese nabs.
Rob Marino thinks this is a great alternative to our dinners and is most appreciative. Hopefully, our normal routine will resume soon.
The clinic has cancelled its annual fundraising golf tournament in May, but we can continue to support them by participating in the GIVE LOCAL online giving campaign on May 5th.
Please give the Fauquier Free Clinic your consideration as it provides critical medical, dental and mental health care to members of our community.

Dental Implants
A dental implant consultation at a cost of £90 is the initial stage of any treatment. Besides impacting on confidence a missing tooth can also make chewing difficult. Dental implants can help overcome the problems associated with a missing tooth.
The practice uses the ANKYLOS and Astra Tech Implant System regarded as the best system on the market matched with the expertise of its dental team.
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that takes the place of a tooth root when placed in the jaw. An abutment is added to the implant to which either a crown, bridge or denture can be added. Dental implants can also overcome the need for a bridge and help preserve adjacent teeth which would have to be ground down to support a bridge.
