New Year, New Something That Rhymes with Year
Technically I’m still the same, but my hammock is weirdly outdoors. For the first time in years I have an outdoor area. I’m no longer trapped in a box. I hate apartments. At the same time, urban sprawl isn’t good from an environmental standpoint either. Maybe the answer lies in population reduction? I’m doing my part!
We’ve got cicadas out here in the wastelands. The floury baker cicadas are still about, the one above was intercepted from a noisy miner (Manorina melanocephala) but had catastrophic wing damage at the joint. He was laid to rest that same afternoon. Just because something can suffer, doesn’t mean it should. Rest easy little one.
We’ve also held our first barbecue without incident. My diet remains mostly vegan, thanks to reduced pressure on rent. The only big exception is salmon which will probably be replaced eventually again.
The garden though, and being able to have plants outdoors in the sunlight. What a game changer. I’ve made an active decision to let dandelions take over the buffalo grass. They mow down quite well.
Looks better than any buffalo grass I’ve ever seen. Function over form I say. When they are at full growth, they provide pollen for the bees (native and European), harbour lots of little bug jumpers, which in turn feed the lizards that roam the grass. A little sad when a common blackbird (Turdus merula) snaps up a few, but as long as I can keep the bugs plentiful the lizards should thrive.
Not everything has been rosy though. My first plant casualty, lavender. I had high hopes for it, but since I don’t really know what I am doing it kind of died. Farewell lavender.
My native beehives have been doing well, attracting a few different species of native masked bee (Genus Hylaneus) as well as native wasps (possibly Genus Pison). Both are ridiculously tiny and harmless to us.
Then you’ve got the other bugs, like the pictured assassin bug nymph, Pristhesancus plagipennis. It’s ready to drink the brains of the next honeybee that lands nearby.
And now I’m back on the Apple Watch train with my shiny new Apple Watch SE 2. This time around I’ve picked out the smaller of the two and went with the 40mm. And I have to say, I do not miss the bulk of the 44mm. The Apple Watch is a great motivator to stay on track with new year health goals.
Wait that’s not the image I was looking for… that’s more dandelions!
Whoops, that’s another floury baker cicada. I think the several that were in this tree were eaten by the local bat population as they’ve been silent for a while now.
And that’s Stumpie. Tail growth is coming along well. If I find him running about while I’m mowing the lawn I’ll move him into a lizard hotel plastic tub until I’m done.
Don’t look at me like that Stumpie. We don’t want any repeats of how you got the name Stumpie after all!
Then we’ve got this little guy still rocking about, a bar-sided skink (Concinnia tenuis). After being trapped by a redback spider (Latrodectus hasselti). Luckily for the lizard I noticed…
And here’s the data I wanted to show. Weight loss is beginning again. You might notice a drop almost immediately after becoming unemployed, then a spike to >100 kg when I ran out of money thanks to Sydney’s rental market being unaffordable for a single person – let alone an unemployed single person.
Sure, I could have killed myself easily enough but chose to do the paradigm shift thing. Is it enough of a shift? That’s still an unknown at this point. At least for now, there are real life distractions everywhere which seems to leave very little time for uploading videos. Not such a bad thing I guess. That’s not to say I haven’t been recording new footage.
Better go and check the garden is still there and get my 30 minutes of exercise in. Target weight is set at 75 kg this time around. Roughly 20 kg of weight loss to go, and while transitioning. Should be one heck of a ride. 🤷♀️

"Sonic Adventure 1+2 HD Collection" Video Game idea
Well, we are but a month away before "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" hits theaters and Paramount+. If there's anything I have to say about it, I'm theorizing that it might just be a straight-up adaptation of "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle", which by the way, is my top favorite "Sonic" game growing up. I have this game for Nintendo GameCube and Xbox One. But while I never played the first entry, I have seen YouTube videos about it, and how some people feel it needs to be updated. As such, I thought about if "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut" and "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle" should be remade by Sega, or at the very least, a dedicated Sonic fan base full of game developers and whatnot who know how to update both games properly.
TITLE
"Sonic Adventure 1+2 HD Collection"
ESRB RATING
Either E or E10+, you decide.
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay for both "Sonic Adventure" titles are the same as what we've seen from their PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ports, but with the "Sonic Adventure" side missions and "Sonic Adventure 2" multiplayer modes being part of the game from the start like their respective Nintendo GameCube ports.
MULTIPLAYER
As a first for the "Sonic Adventure" series, let's double the amount of players in multiplayer mode from 2 to 4 (unless it's a little tricky), with online play supporting 8 players. The multiplayer mode will have all the stages from both "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut" and "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle", with an option to turn off the time limit and of course set scores.
Costumes used in the original Dreamcast version of "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle" would be available as DLC you can purchase.
CHAO GARDEN
If there's one thing everyone can agree on, the Chao Garden is the best feature the "Sonic Adventure" duology. After playing any level (assuming you completed a level without losing the key in one of the Chao boxes), you are warped into the Chao Garden where you can give your Chao the animals and drives you collected. Every Chao starts as an egg. Once it is hatched, you can feed your Chao any animal, Chao drive, or fruit to help it grow. You can raise them to be hero, dark, or neutral chaos depending on your liking.
They can be entered in Chao Racing and Chao Karate, which can be played locally or online with other players around the world.
LIST OF CREATIVE CHANGES
You don't lose lives if you hit "Restart" in the pause menu.
Both games feature new character models and textures for both gameplay and cutscenes.
For "Sonic Adventure", a meter would be added next to Tails so the players can know how much energy Tails has left for flying. Tails would also have infinite flight whenever he's in the Chao Gardens like in "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle", but now he can gain altitude with something like the left or right control stick.
Knuckles' treasure meter from "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut" is carried over to "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle", making his stages a little easier for some people.
For "Sonic Adventure", Amy's gameplay is reworked so that she can run faster than in the original.
For "Sonic Adventure", Big's stages would be reworked and refined. And unlike the original games, Big can glide with his umbrella just like Knuckles, Rouge, Tikal, and Chaos can do in the multiplayer stages in "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle".
Super Sonic and Super Shadow modes can be unlocked after completing the final ending in "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle". This also applies to Sonic in "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut". Sonic and Shadow just need to collect about 50 rings to activate their Super forms. Super Sonic and Super Shadow are immune to all damage and they can enter flight mode by tapping the jump button twice. Their Super forms have a time limit depending on how many rings you have. Sonic and Shadow cannot transform into their Super forms while they're in the Chao Garden and while exploring the hub areas in "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut".
Chao drives can be added to "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut" upon defeating enemies.
The animals and Chao drives you collect from both games can be transferred and stored into a bank. You put your Chao in the bank and give them however many Chao drives or animals you want, with perhaps a customization option if you want to feed it animals and give them a specific animal part. These can be removed if you have skeleton dogs.
Chao cannot be abused like in the original versions of both "Sonic Adventure" titles. This is to prevent animal cruelty.

It still remains forever up for debate whether my list of 100%ed steam games is even remotely impressive at all. Except for Mixolumia actually the Mixolumia 100% is pretty badass. I had to get a lot of points and do a really hard mode the pieces turned invisible and stuff. It was pretty badass. I can't justify Tangrams Deluxe at all that's just shameful filler.
*crawlign out of a sewer* Ice cream
#pacman championship edition dx+ is interesting because you can get all the achievements in literally 2 hours.#I probably literally only played it on one day.#...Hm the running theme in the list is beginning to shift from ''pacman is there'' to ''a variation on the word deluxe is in the title''#because thats what ''dx'' is short for i think. maybe.#sonic adventure made me think it was short for ''director's cut'' for a while though so im not sure...#mypost

I was absolutely a Sonic X kid but I also knew about some of the games like Adventure Director's Cut DX from magazine ads. I got on the internet around the time the Sonic 06 discourse happened, lost interest but not completely. Had my attention grabbed by Generations and Lost World, there was also the Boom cartoon, but I didn't get into any of those.
Then I tried a genesis collection on the 3DS which I sucked at. Somewhere between that and the first trailer for the movie, I came to the conclusion that "sonic was never good"--on my own thankfully. No input from IGN.
Cut to 2020 when the modern world has finally started spiraling out of control. I watch the Snapcube SA2 dub. I laugh and assume it's completely ironic. I watch the cutscenes to see how stupid the actual story must be.
One hour later I am crying over Shadow the Hedgehog and the ending scene.
Years later and I am now the proud owner of Sonic Generations, Mania, and soon several emulations and/or fangames; I like Boom unironically, enjoyed the movies, and am dying to go back and rewatch the other cartoons. I even stuck around for 2 seasons of Prime!
Oh and there's also the massive pile of AU fanfic ideas I have to keep locked away so I don't burnout from all the other WIPs I've got to deal with.
"crying over Shadow the Hedgehog" is a good way to describe sa2

While I have grown up playing "Sonic" games on my Nintendo GameCube (namely "Sonic Heroes", "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle", and "Sonic Riders"), one game that I haven't played in my life is "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut". I saw some gameplay footage for it on YouTube, though, I was surprised this game didn't have a multiplayer option like "Sonic Adventure 2: Battle" did. Granted, the original Sega Dreamcast version didn't have multiplayer either, but I feel like they should've added a 2-player option like the sequel did.
Basically, like Sonic Adventure 2's multiplayer option, you could play as any "Sonic" character in the racing, treasure hunting, and battle stages from "Sonic Adventure", with some stages from "Sonic Adventure 2" available as extra content.
