Without explanation, you're not gonna understand the full picture of all of these, so I'm not gonna explain anything.

wooo yay I have another WIP in the works after I've finally had time to draw again yipeeeeeee (click for better quality)

Also, on a side note happy pride month! I don't have anything super special for this month like last year (also I've been on this hellsite for a year now jesus christ) and so I might as well post this WIP I've got going of Keiki and Mayumi because this idea has been marinating in my head for a while now and I needed to get it out.

I'll keep my artist's note brief as like with my previous WIP I am just gonna save that for the finished piece (Edit: It's done now so clink the link here to see it), but I would like to post some of my headcanons for the two of them here while I'm still thinking about both of them.

Artist's Notes;

So I really like the idea of Mayumi having some memory of her life before dying and ending up in the Animal Realm and that's part of the reason why she wants to protect Keiki so much, like, maybe she failed to protect someone she cared for in her life, or maybe she was just kind of an asshole and sees this as a second chance. IDK, I just think it could be a neat idea to play around with, especially if Mayumi is one of the few spirits who actually remembers her life, as I'm sure in most cases in Touhou, non-vengeful spirits tend to forget most of their lives upon death, so I think it could be and interesting idea to play around with. I also like the idea of Keiki asking Mayumi something along the lines of, "Are there any changes you want me to make to your appearance?" and Mayumi gives her input on what she wants her new body to look like, which I think could be a really nice moment of bonding between the two of them. Also, I love the canon detail of Mayumi being the only one who's really able to understand Keiki's way of speaking, I just think it's really cute.

As for how I drew both of them, I took a few liberties with their outfits and took some inspiration from Kofun period clothing and armor. I also figured out a way to draw Keiki's apron and I am so happy with it, as well as Mayumi's armor. Also, I like how Mayumi's hair is looking so far, as when I was sketching it, I was trying to draw it in a way that would still work in my artstyle and with the general shape language I was trying to go for with Mayumi, though in the finished piece I might make a few changes. Also will have to play around with Mayumi's positioning, as I want it to look like she's kneeling and her legs are being covered by the flame thingy, but at the same time I'm not to happy compositionally with how she's placed right now, so I'll have to work on that.

i really, truly fell off since making these 😭😭😭😭 im honestly not even confident i could create something of this quality ever again #felloff

i like some of my newer art but its nothing to really write home about. my art has become more self-indulgent compared to squeezing the most 'skill' and 'detalization' out of each piece. i think in the end the process makes me happier (?) but i don't the same pride as looking at some of my older art. to be fair i also spend far less time on art compared to spending like 20 hours straight or days on a piece. frankly im not even sure i could replicate my old pipeline anymore and replicate my skill <- because i fell off!

i cope with the fact i fell off by saying 'im just exploring my own unique artistic vision' <- words from a guy who is simply not that good anymore

4. piece you wish got more love?

idkkk i dont really pay attention to numbers. i only really care/look at comments. i want more taur fans to follow me and talk me about taurs.

8. thing you struggle to draw?

human faces.... this is sad because humans can be so diverse and interesting to draw but personally every time i draw a human it just looks incredibly ugly and bad (unless heavily stylized and simplified) and i just don't enjoy it as much as furries animals creatures monsters etc.

11. do you listen to anything while drawing?

yes... for my own detriment. especially when i dissociate i just turn on something in the background to 'help me focus' but idk if it actually helps me focus or just makes the dissociation more comfortable

i cant show you but it's a piece with lace and hornet (hollow knight)... i think i actually have a lot of wips with angels actually but i dont wanaaa show anybody

14. whats your favorite thing about drawing?

i dont know. gets scared. i enjoy feling proud and enjoying the final product. recently i also enjoy just drawing bodies and forms and volume. the process of 'god this looks like dogshit' going to 'i actually like this :)' or 'i love this and im proud of this' (if im lucky) is very enjoyable.

17. what is something youre confident about in your art?

i dont knowwwwwwww.... im gonna say im confident about something and someones gonna just tell me that im actually really bad at it. i think maybe volume and 'ambient occlusion' !?

21. what do you think your artstyle would taste like? I dont knowww.... from what people say it would be gummies or candies. but tbh that's just my more 'cutesy' art. i contain multitudes. some of my art probably tastes like dirt from the ground at a factory.

22. do you have a favorite color palette to work with?

i pretty much use these colors (for some reason i rarely use green or yellow. the circled colors are especially common. looking at my art it's a lot of purple, pink, blue, red, some oranges. idk why i gravitate to purple so much. i guess i just like red and blue a lot and ourple is a nice middle ground

(and this doesnt mean i dont like green or yellow my immediate reaction to drawing a creature is just making it these colors. for some reason)

24. whats a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you?

I always feel guilty that i dont like. save peoples comments to a folder so i can remember them better (maybe i should do this). i have a bad memory so i can hardly recall what people say word-for-word. I think I'm very humbled and happy when people say that my art has been meaningful to them in some way or helped them or even just made them happy or more willing to explore things about themselves. I also enjoy the 'i look like this and this made me happy' on my art ❤. that's definitely a part of why i enjoy drawing bodies so much. seeing a comment like 'this made me cry because i've never seen a body like mine represented before in a positive way' is really sad honestly and i wish the world wasn't so unfair and cruel man.

25. what size canvas/paper do you use?

i usually use a preset in photoshop for A4 or A3 paper. so about 2000-5000px range

30. whats something youre proud of about your artstyle?

i dont knowwwwwwwww... i think recently i like the way i paint bodies and i've been enjoying the orb heads as a stylistic choice even if some may think its ugly and boring. i also enjoy stylizing body hair. i also also want to adopt a more elaborate brushwork style but idont really know how to do thatttt

34. whats something you still like from your old art?

im just gonna talk about my olllld baby art. i love how innocent and cute and sweet it is. like you can really see my soul was not corrupted by evil yet. sighs

note: i wrote this in two hours while listening to super shy - new jeans (intended for it to be a cute fic) and ended up with this angsty little piece, it’s a wip i ended up abandoning but am putting it up for anyone who might like that sexy pining genre of not ending up tgt, also was gonna stay on my docs but got too emotionally attached to not post it (you better talk to me about this theo or i will cry)

Theodore is a friend of Draco. That's how you know him. Theodore Nott: the tall, cute, and quiet friend of Draco's who's eyes —when he smiles, like really smile, curves upwards in an adorable manner. Theodore who, whenever you were to hang out with Draco's friend group, keeps a closed off expression that is so hard to gauge and read that you gave up the second time you met the lad.

The door clicks open and you prepare yourself for what's to come next, taking in a deep breath as you try your hardest to play it cool. Theodore steps into Draco's living room, shopping bags in his hand as Pansy follows him from a few steps behind.

You try not to think too much of it, friends hold shopping bags for their friends all the time, it's only natural. Pansy smiles when she meets your eyes, her voice soft as she nags you on why she hasn't seen you in so long. "Draco ought to bring you around more, I know you're his friend before ours but there's no reason for him to keep you to himself like he does."

Draco scoffs at that, "it's not like I don't invite her, she just doesn't want to come to stuff."

That's not exactly true though. You do want to come to stuff —if anything you loved going to them, Draco's friends have always been very welcoming and accommodated to your every need; it's just that every time you were to spend time with them, it seems like you can't take your eyes off of one particular person (hint: it's not Draco himself).

And quite honestly, you doubted whether he even knows your name. "In my defence, work has been hectic," you deflect with a small laugh, your eyes betrays you and drift to where the real reason stood. Theodore meets your eyes straight on, and offers you a nod as if he's only noticing you now and was saying his greetings. Yeah, he definitely does not know your name. "But I'm here now so let's enjoy it."

Pansy pouts but let's up when Astoria calls for your group of friends from the kitchen, Blaise right behind her with an apron wrapped around his stature. "Well?" He cocks his head. "What are we waiting for?"

Dinner went by smoothly, mostly Blaise stuffing you with his cooking and Pansy catching up with; asking every question she could possibly think of. You didn't mind if for the most part, actually quite enjoying the attention as the group went on and on. "You're shy, aren't you?"

The question is weird, and not exactly directed at you so you turn back to your plate as you take a bite of Blaise's lasagna (Draco helped cook the noodles for this, he wants you to keep this in mind). You feel something kick mid-chew, looking up to the person sitting opposing you; only to see Theodore with his full focus on Pansy.

You turn to her as well and she laughs as she repeats her words. "You're shy, aren't you?"

"Not really?" You don't think you are, not really. You're just trying your hardest not to make it obvious that you're interested in someone at this very table who does not seem to be interested in you one bit. "At least I don't think I am."

Astoria laughs kindly, finding you cute as she says: "you've just been quiet today, you're never like this with Draco and I."

Yeah well Draco and Astoria weren't plaguing your every thought every time you were within one metres of them. "Oh." you murmur. "I guess I'm a bit tired today."

"Work?" Blaise suggests and you shake your head. "What is it then?"

"Just Boy problems," you say off-handedly, quickly regretting it when their faces turn to one of interest. "But it's nothing big, I promise."

"Are you seriously going to tell us that and not elaborate?" Draco looks offended, hell, he feels offended that you weren't elaborating. "What did that dickhead do?"

Your heart warms at the fact that your friend cares about you enough to immediately hate on whoever might be causing you boy problems but are quick to dismiss the situation. "Nothing, drop it."

From the look on their faces, it looks as if they weren't going to drop it anytime soon. Pansy opens her mouth, ready to say something when Theodore clears his throat, letting you hear his voice for the first time tonight. "Why don't you tell them about who you saw at the shops today, Pans."

Her eyes light up suddenly, going off on how she ran into her scumbag of an ex boyfriend as she was shopping for a new dress. Your eyes found Theodore's, sending him a small smile as you mentally note down on how you'd have to thank him for it later.

And when he offers you a small smile in return, his dark eyes softening —yet not enough for you to see those half moons you hold oh so dear to your heart, you try to remind yourself that he is nothing but a man doing the bare minimum.

"Stay the night," Astoria says softly, "it's late, Princess. I can't have you heading back on your own at this hour."

As much as it sounded pleasant, you can't help but feel like you might be intruding their night (even though you've spent countless night crashing at their place after a bad break up before, you guess that it's just different now that you weren't staying to cure a broken heart with a comforting shoulder —Astoria— and someone bad mouthing your ex —Draco—). "I can't," you tell them. "And trust me, I'll be fine."

Draco isn't chuffed by your answer, looking apprehensive as he thought everything over. Blaise and Pansy left for their shared apartment mere minutes ago so it wasn't like he could ensure your safety with them. But someone else was still here though, "Nott, can you take her home?"

Theodore startles from his spot by the coat rack, pausing with one arm in his coat as he looks at Draco like a deer caught in headlights. Cute. He then glances at you before hesitantly nodding.

This is bad. Oh god. Okay.

"Great," Astoria says with a smile. "Take care of our Princess, please." She then turns to look at you. "Call me when you get home safely, okay?"

At your nod, she hugs you goodbye and sends you out the door. Theodore walking slowly by your side. He's silent when he opens his car door for you and you try your best not to swoon. "Thank you."

He hums in acknowledgment as he walks over to the driver's side, Theodore does a double check to make sure you had your seatbelt on before he started the car. The ride is quiet, save from the song playing from the radio; a familiar tune you can't place a finger on.

He asks for your directions and you tell him, sneaking glances as you did so. His hair is longer than it was the last time you saw him —but to be fair, it has been months since you did; a few dark strands cover his eyes and you resist the urge to reach out and push them away. Maybe even taking out a hair clip from your purse to pin it back just so he wouldn't have to deal with it again.

It's calm and overwhelming at the same time, sitting so still and tranquil next to Theodore like this. You want to say something, you want him to say something; anything if meant you get to hear his voice again. If it meant you get a chance to memorise it and compartmentalise it in a folder that is ardently his.

"Oh thank you by the way." He looks at you for a split second before turning his focus back to the road. "For switching the topic back there."

Theodore only nods and you try not to cry. Why won't he speak? It's almost like he doesn't even want you to be interested in him.

"I really do appreciate it."

He hums this time around, a low note vibrating from his chest. It's either a nod or a hum, that's all you're ever going to get from Theodore, huh?

You bite the inside of your cheeks, looking straight at the road as you did so. Should you even attempt to make small talk? All your attempts have been futile so far so why even try. You didn't mean to huff, or at least not as loud as you did, your arms instinctively as you looked out the window absentmindedly.

This catches Theodore's attention though, prompting to finally say something. "Thinking about those boy problems again?"

You don't answer him, you don't let yourself feel the satisfaction of finally hearing him speak for the second time tonight. You don't say anything related to that topic whatsoever. "Do you have a girlfriend, Theodore?"

You can hear the hitch in his breath, see the surprise in his rapid blinks, feel the shift in the air. The car pulls to a stop at a red light, the tail lights of a car a few metres in front of you shines your faces the same shade.

He looks at you and you hope —no pray, that he doesn't notice the sparkle in your eyes as you look at him. Or maybe you do, you can't tell anymore. The only thing you can tell is that you are so incredibly into Theodore Nott, and him driving you home is not helping your case at all.

"No," he says earnestly. You don't let your eyes flicker to his lips, you don't let your eyes flicker to anything else but his eyes, trying to gauge him for something; anything, only to end up finding nothing.  "Why are you asking?"

A car honks from behind, breaking the two of you away from your trance. "Just curious."

You thank Theodore as he pulls to a stop outside your house, he —just like you would expect from Theodore Nott, only nods at your thanks. And when you bid him goodbye with one leg out of his car.

He tells you, "Goodnight, Princess."

Princess, that's what your friends called you. That's what Draco Malfoy called you at the ripe age of ten years old where the two of you would play royalty and would later be his favourite nickname for you, then further on your other friend's choice of name for you. That's what Theodore Nott calls you because he does not know your name.

"Goodnight, Theodore." You shut his car door behind you, and take a few steps to your front door before turning over your shoulder. Looking back at him at once, finding him reaching for his glasses within his glove compartment; ones with round wired frames that settle flatteringly on his high nose bridge. He shuts his glove compartment box and you turn back to your front door. And unbeknownst to you, with your back to him, Theodore turns to look at you once, and then, twice when you finally enter your house, before finally driving off and into the night.

Curiosity kills the cat, that’s what Theodore thinks as he unlocks his front door. Curiosity kills the cat, is what he reminds himself time and time again as he sheds off his jacket. Curiosity kills the cat, that’s what he knows from the start. But how could curiosity really kill the cat if it was already dying? 

If it had already yearned for something for long; a clenching thirst yet to be fulfilled, if it was already wailing to just be held, would curiosity really kill it then? 

It's weird. It's weird how —now that he thinks of it, he can't seem to recall you ever going on a date. Not a single one. While him on the other hand; yeah, he can't exactly count the amount of dates he’s gone on in the past month on one hand. 

It's not entirely his fault though, he’s trying to put himself out there; trying to find the one despite knowing that said one is constantly running around the back of his mind and was sitting in his passenger seat mere minutes ago. But he chooses to ignore it because one, it's wrong and there was no way you could ever reciprocate his feelings. And two, even if you were to reciprocate his feelings, he will never cross the line between platonic and romantic. 

He’d take the endless yearning over any potential heartbreak any day because the second he crosses the line, there's no turning back. And no amount of romantic feelings you might have for one another will make up for the years of friendship between him, you, and most importantly, Draco. The blond was your best friend before anything else, and he doubts you’d ever risk ruining your friendship for someone like him.

So, for now, he’d settled for the guilt he feels every time he sees you; he’ll hold back on his urges even though it’s clearer to him now, in this very night, than ever that you are as infatuated with him as he is with you. 

He’ll take off his glasses, he’ll place them by his bedside table, he’ll lay in his bed, cold and alone, he’ll try to fall asleep and not think of you, he’ll try and try to make it through tomorrow, make it through the date that Blaise had set up (yet again) for him that will inevitably be the worse hours of his life and think about what it be like had his date been you instead.

It's been a minute. This one got long.

I largely haven't been doing any fandom stuff other than VP because my work schedule has been insane the past two months. And the only reason I have VP to post is because I'm generous about snapping pics and the vast majority of photos y'all are seeing are ones I took back in March/April/May.

Things at work are starting to be slightly less hectic though, so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. I'm trying to be gentle with myself about the time and energy I do have but it's been frustrating wanting to do things and not having the beans to do them. Spending most of my workdays outside for extended periods of time means I'm bone tired when I get home. And then I have more work to do outside...

Gardening

My garden is gonna be very scraggly looking for the rest of the year, but if I can keep it alive, in theory, the plants should come back bigger and bolder next year. Shortgrass prairie plants spend the bulk of their first few growing seasons establishing their root systems since water is often in short supply, so the tops of the plants are very unimpressive rn. Most of them probably won't get much bigger than this or even flower this year.

I've gotten a good chunk of the plants in the ground, have irrigation lines going to all of them, and did the lil concrete paver patio. I still need to finish planting the plants that have been languishing in their pots for over a month, bury the irrigation lines, and do a bunch of other random things, but we're getting there. Not planning on covering the bare dirt with mulch because I'm doing fall and spring seeding and I want the plants to self-sow. Going for wild pocket prairie and I'm gonna let it go absolutely feral. I'd eventually like to get rid of the river rocks too but baby steps.

What's really funny is all my native plants seem to be doing reasonable well. My vegetable garden on the other hand... It's sad. I know where I fucked up though (I should not have done that soil experiment lol and attack of the cutworm catepillars), so I'll just have to cut my loses this year and reevaluate for next. The worm composter is doing good though 🪱

Drawing

Attempting to get back into drawing. Again, it's been slow. Have been doodling some mutual's CP2077 OCs when I have the time and still have a ways to get through my list. I'm surprised by how much fan art of Grandpa I've received so I figured I'd return the favor for some folks. It's always a pleasant surprise getting some lovely art in your inbox. Probably won't be coloring most of these from here on out. I have a love hate relationship with coloring. Sorry, I just find lines more interesting. All of these were done with dip pen, ink, and watercolor.

I've got another more formal piece I need to work on as well and get done by the end of the month. Keep forgetting to do the layout sketches...

Writing

The slowest of them all. Been working on the same damn short fic (No. 1 of Les Preludes) and then brainstorming for about fifty other projects that are waiting their turn in line. Plus, I'm still trying to read too. But when I can only manage a chapter of a fic about every two weeks...

Most of my writing efforts have been bopping into my drafts now and then and pecking out a sentence or two. However, I did manage to spend 45 minutes detangling a section of about 200 words 🐢:

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? If we are just looking at the individual fic, I wrote a couple of episode codas during the Malec break-up in Shadowhunters that were fairly bleak. But I've never really written angst that isn't resolved by a follow-up fic or by the source material. I'm delicate. Ending author's notes don't count.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? They are mostly pretty mushy! Can take your pick.

9. Do you write smut? Yeah, it's probably my primary vocation lmao. Though a pretty recent one! I had only written it twice ever before I started writing steddie.

16. What are your writing strengths? I am very funny. This is obviously good for comedy writing, which is my wheelhouse, but I think more dramatic writing is still set-up and punchline, even if the punchline isn't played for laughs.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? You know how pointing out your insecurities draws attention to them? I started listing stuff, decided that I don't want you noticing my eyebrows are more cousins than twins, and deleted it. I will say I think I am something of a one trick pony and comedy is also a bit of a crutch for me and nvm, Kam reblogged a post about finding your form as a writer, and I am not a one trick pony, I have just been called to write silly porn. My weaknesses are varied sentence structure and physical description.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I haven't done it, but I think it is fine as long as you are not using a translation software to do so.

20. Favorite fics you've written? I've said it before, but right now Path to the Rainbow's End because I finished it lmao. And I like the end product! The Floor of Heaven's Lain is also a favorite, I think the structure is fun and interesting, and I could read it immediately after I wrote it without picking it to pieces.

I felt inspired by this post by @fresaton because cherry tomatoes are my favorite and even though I only partially agree with her Carmy=Tomatoes and Sydney=Cherries theory I noticed that Carmy said that Syd's dish lacked acid back in S1:

And while definitely not the most acidic variety, cherry tomatoes are more acidic than other, more sweet varieties that's why they are NOT a good choice for people who have GERD.

So here's where I start seeing an acidic pattern:

So, what do we have here?

ACIDIC FRUITS, it's all about the acid that was missing.

Tomato, regardless of the variety is actually a fruit, not a vegetable.

Cherries are also a fruit.

Both bring acidity to the dishes or desserts they are added to.

And acidity was precisely what Syd's dish was either lacking in S1 or having an excess of in S2. And Carmy represents that acid.

And let's not forget the grapefruit that was all over S3 and it's also an acidic fruit.

I already went over what acid means in terms of Sydcarmy flavor symbology here:

So, since acid seems to be a theme throughout ALL 3 SEASONS now, then that probably means that they are closer to hitting the right mark in terms of ACIDITY which was the one thing they were missing to REALLY NAIL IT. That's my hunch, because otherwise why making such a fuzz about it?

It's because they are getting closer to hitting the right mark in terms of acidity and balancing ingredients out the right way this time around (we will see it in S4 but they are at the door of the moment now 🎶😘 in S3, that's why all the cherries and grapefruits were all over the scenes)

03x01 → Lemons

which is a great sign both in terms of Sydcarmy timing because I think that when they can find the right balance on a dish they will also find it in their relationship, as the menu represents THEM, because it's their red string of fate that them brings together, as I mentioned → here (The problem with the current S3 menu is that it's all Carmy sublimating Syd on a plate just like he did with the polka dots sauce in 03x09, is not a co-creation but a monologue, as I explained→ here)

And in terms of award-winning dishes, plus it aligns with my previous theory of this new era that began with the baby being born:

This brings me to this conclusion I drew a few months ago: when they get to that point, which will be next season because they are almost there now, they will need SUGAR, not to get too acidic:

This is just a hunch: IMO, as I have been saying in other posts where I looked at this from other angles: We are getting closer to SYDCARMY SHOWTIME because ACID is what makes or breaks a dish, according to CIA.

I am taking a hiatus to move houses and I don't have the time, mindset, or patience to edit fics in order to post them right now. Editing is always the most difficult part for me, so I am saving that for after my hiatus. I may take a short break to rest after the move for my health, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna be back in late July, in August, or later. But these fics are complete, and only need to be edited, so they will be posted on my writing blog within the next few months. I just finished a fic (which I am super excited about) - so I figured I would post this to let you guys know what I have been working on. I have been going through a lot of stress with the move, and whenever I go through stressful times in my life, fanfiction is literally always the biggest mental relief for me, and I have been having so much fun with these fics. Rediscovering my love for TMR and thinking about fanfic ideas for it has helped ease my stress a lot. And my recent TMR fic is something I drafted and wrote in literally 3 days because I was so excited about it and because it was helping me with the stress so much.

So you are shocked when the masked man who just kidnapped you pulled off that mask, revealing himself to be... Gally. (This is the fic I just got finished with.)

Heaven’s Gate - Daryl Dixon x GN!Reader. Strangers to Lovers/Lovers Reunited. Emotional Angst, Hurt and Comfort. Set during Season 1 through Season 5.17k in counting, oneshot. Finished, needs to be edited. You and Daryl get separated when the prison falls, and though you both think that the other is dead, you end up finding each other in the most unlikely place at the most unlikely time. And during your time apart, you have always been carrying pieces of each other that you can’t let go of.

Untitled Daryl PWP - Daryl Dixon x Fem!Reader. Established Relationship. PWP/Smut. Set during Season 4. 2k in counting, oneshot. Finished, needs to be edited. Daryl comes to you one day with an oddly needy spark, and though it’s unusual for him, you can’t help but to love it. (aka - Daryl eats pussy like a man starved.)

I do have a few other fics that are mostly done and I need to make one final push in order to finish them, but now I just keep thinking about ideas for TMR fics. I really wanna write a Newt angst fic (or a smut fic lmao). Basically any main character in the series, I would write smut about. Would anybody be interested in that or am I just over here resurrecting a dead fandom by myself??

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.

About fandom in general, interactions or lack thereof, how something you can feel so happy and passionate about can make you sad at the same time.

The idea of no longer sharing my fics has also been something that's crossed my mind on numerous occasions, but at the end of the day I WANT to share them. I am proud of them and I figure if they make me this happy, I hope they can make someone else happy too.

I continue to trek on, trying to compartmentalize my feelings and press on, creating fics I think others will enjoy as well, and praising the gorgeous man who plays gorgeous characters whose stories I love to change or extend.

Recently, I've felt guilt. Guilt that I haven't been creating and posting enough things for you to indulge in. And then I remember that in the last 4 weeks, I wrote and posted 3 fics.

3 fics where a majority of the reblogs are my own, and most of the notes are likes.

I'm feeling this way because of the lack of interaction. I'm not blaming or pointing fingers or trying to extend any guilt to any of you (and thank you endlessly to those who do reblog and comment and send messages and have conversations about them 💗) But I can safely say that this is a widespread issue across all fandoms alike.

It's disheartening. People leave and give up and have their creativity crushed to the point they no longer participate or share their wonderful art.

I came across a post that I reblogged yesterday that added another level onto all of this.

Artists and writers having to "market" and promote their work in hopes it'll help drum up excitement for what they have coming up.

As if taking the time and energy to create that fic of piece of art isn't enough, now we have to work like a full marketing team in hopes we will get a few more reblogs or comments.

I have seldom participated in tag games where you share snippets of WIPs etc because more often than not, the response to them are *crickets*. It's embarrassing and gives off that "no one is interested so why bother sharing it" vibe.

We shouldn't have to work that hard to get feedback on the things we share.

I know, and respect, that some people experience comment anxiety, but I promise you that if you're able to, whether it be a string of emojis or keysmashes or even a gif, you will be making a difference.

This happened to me yesterday.

Right when I felt like it's all fruitless, someone swooped in with a comment that gave me hope and reminded me why I do it. And it was on my least popular (and personal favourite) series to boot.

Because of this simple act of communication, my hope and motivation has been restored.

Now I know I'm going to get people saying "you should write for yourself" (I do) and I shouldn't rely on others to keep me motivated (I don't, I have Charlie Hunnam for that) but it's such a key component to all of this and I think most creators can agree to that.

So please, for the love of fandom and the things you love (the actors, the characters, the shows or films) PLEASE INTERACT WITH THE ARTISTS AND WRITERS WHO CREATE INCREDIBLE ART AND FICS FOR THEM.

You may not realize what an effect you have, but I promise you, you do, and it may even help save your favourite artist from abandoning it all.

the saltommy fic. i have chronic 'cant finish things' disorder plus i lowkey dont wanna let go 🥺 i get attached to my characters when writing long fic, because its a specific version of them. and endings are hard. and this one specifically because its not going to be a happy ending (it is canon compliant after all, and tommy meets buck some years later, so... it's bucktommy endgame in this universe) but im a weak bitch so i might write a little oneshot companion piece taking place when buck and tommy are together and run into sal. as a treat.

uhh.. usually i start a new tumblr text post or google doc and start writing down the words before i lose them. and it just happens at the most random times. i have no control over it whatsoever. rip.

not usually! i made a saltommy playlist to listen to as i write to keep me in the saltommy mood (because i tend to check tumblr and its like, 90% bucktommy, and then i get distracted) i tend to make character or ship playlists according to canon.

probably balls to the wall? i never plan before i start writing. i just write down ideas or scenes as they come to me. and then might rearrange the order or think a bit more about how to make the story flow better, with a clear beginning, middle, and end, even when there's not much *plot* happening, more character or relationship study. for more plot-heavy fics i'll have a vague outline at least in my head. i know other writers are more organised. im usually just winging it.

Current WIPs - September 2024

It has been an actual year since I did one of these and considering the fact that I literally just finished (and posted) a fic last night/in the early hours of this morning, I figured that it might be an idea to look at what I've got in the GoogleDocs.

Let's see. First I should probably note that anything I call any document here will be a working title. I very very very rarely share final titles until I hit the publish/post button. I like to keep some secrets. Uh... Normally I'd talk about the Big Files first and then touch on the smaller ones. Although there isn't that many smaller files nowadays. But I think today we'll just go by things as I remember them. Most of the time, my Big Files are only that way because I cannot end fics for love nor money. I create these worlds and then don't want to leave them.

Okay then! On we go! This might be a long one.

I have three, maybe four Vampire based fics. I'm an MCR writer, of course I do.

~ Vampire AU the First

In which Lux, Mikey and Gerard are vampires. Mikey has moved with the times and Gerard’s a little stuck in the past. Lux was a modern day Human until she was recently turned and Shelly is a Human.

This file is one of my long ones; about 40k. This is the AU in which my OTPtober 2022 - Insecurity piece is set. I haven't dipped into this one for a little while, but I enjoy this world. ~ Reverse!Vampire AU

In which Shelly is our Vampire, Mercy is her Human familiar and Gerard is a struggling artist.

About 37k. Again, not one I've touched for a little while but, again, one I enjoy. Gerard being the not-vampire isn't as common in ths fandom, in my opinion. That might be why I enjoy this one when I'm in it. ~ VAU4 (because 3 got published)

Gerard is vampire royalty, and Shelly appears to be a regular Human who finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This one is less than 15k and a little bit fragmented, which is probably why it's not that long. Slightly different relationship dynamics here too, a less friendly start between the girls. So that's fun. For the final vampire based fic, I'm gonna copy the paragraph from the last post because it amuses me and is stll true:

I ALSO have something labelled as Vampires&Werewolves AU, which… Seems very Twilight, putting the two creatures against each other with a Human in the middle, but… Also, not Twilight because there’s no fucking sparkling.

This fic a baby - it's only like 10k.

What's next? Let's stick with the paranormal. ~ The Succubus Fic

In which Shelly is a succubus and Gerard is her… Victim?

This one is labelled as a “fic” instead of an AU because I do not want it to get as long as some of my other files. This one is about 15k and could maybe end where it is and have parts added later on but... I'm not sure. I haven't touched it for a little while. ~ the Supernatural Beings AU Vampires, werewolves, witches and wizards, oh my! This one is about 30k so that's how much fun I'm having there. ~ the Normal AU That is, the regular, run of the mill, there is a band, this is their career, fics. This is spread across like, 5 different GoogleDocs (at least) so I can't really give you a wordcount, though it is my biggest project. I'm working on all those milestones (like the engagement and the wedding, because, hello?!) but they take time. Even if I do have like 80% of Shelly and Gerard's story all written in my head. There are so, so many words here. So many little situations and... So. Much. There's a smut scene in one of these files that... Lord above. Like... SiR! (I wrote that one in a hospital walk in waiting room too.) ~ The Danger Days fic aka The Sandbox Fic Another AU spread across several files, but I think it's all about... 30k? so far? Then again, about 10k of that is a smutty chapter... Lead up, the action, wrapping up the scene. It's all... Can you call it a spin off? of my Wife’s Danger Days fic, picking up a little after where that left off so I could throw Shelly into that world. ~ The Tamarin Inspired Situation 20k ish. An excuse to write more threesome-ish stuff after dabbling in the next listing. If you look up Tamarin breeding stuations, you'll learn more about the scenario I was going for. ~ The CollegeAU - also known as the PolyCollegeAU This started out as me attempting to write a threesome, BEFORE the Birthday Fic happened. It ended up in timeout for a long time because Frank wouldn’t behave, thus making the inevitable choice between the two really hard! And then, along comes my wonderful wife and is all OKAY BUT WHAT IF and boom, it came out of time out and gained… A lot of words. And turned into a poly-relationship situation. I thinkkkkk I had the intention/s of throwing a little light dom/sub play in there too. And I think there's a scene or two where Shelly and Frank talk about pegging. So that's fun! It's about 32k currently. ~ The Nameless Fic. Another 15k ish file, and this one is definitely a bit more out of left field for me. It's a bit more angsty despite what the subtitle/working title suggests. I know where I'm going with this one I just have to tweak some stuff to write it the way I want it. ~ The Half Baked Idea About 10k and has more of a series of plot points. It’s a little ✨mystical✨ and supernatural but because there's not much more to it than a few chapters and some notes, I don't know where I'm going with it. ~ It’s A Compliment I Swear I wrote the ending for this in July 2022. It’s… 😬 Yeah. I might get in trouble for that ending. I'm very close to just creating a bulletpoint list of what I wanted to cover in between where I ended it and how we get to the last few chapters I ended up writing and just posting that.

Other, smaller files ~ The Sugar Baby AU ~ PopStar!Shelly ~ The Stripper!Gerard fic ~ a HighSchool AU or two. ~ my first VampireAU that I'm probably not gonna go back to, but I stole my own lore from it for the others I write. ~ Taylor Swift fic drabbles.

I thinkkkkkk that's it. I might be missing one or two things, but you can only scroll through GoogleDocs so many times before your eyes glaze over, you know? I might've mentioned something in the older post that I didn't mention here. Anything else is probably just a file of maybe a page of notes and not actual writing.

Oh! OH! *bouncing excitedly* Okay!

Okay, so 4 is "A piece you wish got more love". For that, I'd probably say either my Team TIES MCC art, my og Boatem Grian piece (because his feathers, guys, his feathers and wings and the whole pose???), or my Gambler Skizz design...

The Team TIES didn't get quite as finished as I'd originally wanted, and there are little details I'd change now, but... I still absolutely adore it. It's... Definitely one of my favorite pieces I've done in... Quite a while.

The Boatem Series Grian I did was... So much fun, and is still one of my favorite pieces I've done of Grian (and it's, like, over 2 years old). The Mumbo and Pearl from that same series are also stunning pieces, some of my favorite works too - the Pearl has by far gotten the most attention. (Also, that Boatem Scar is the origin of my design idea for his leg braces!!!)

As for Gambler Skizz... I really enjoyed doing it, adding the little card/gambling motifs in and adjusting his basic suit to make it a little more... Flashy. He's a little inspired by Aventurine's design from Honkai Star Rail, who's one of my favorite HSR characters, so that was a lot of fun! And... Skizz always deserves more love.

(and as a bonus non-Hermits piece - my Abyss Dragon Ajax designs, both the one for Amanveth's (@friendly-neighbourhood-archon's) After Everything fic and my own design that's more Foul Legacy based... Both were so much fun to draw!!!)

As for number 13 "Talk about a wip you like"... I'm gonna talk about 2 here. One is my Full Hermits Napping Piece, which I started around the time S9 was ending. I'm probably going to make some edits now, after everything that's happened since planning it out (Skizz & Joel's joining and Iskall & Stress's resigning both) but I'm... I'm so so so pleased with how it's going so far, I love the concept, I... It's delightful. I've posted a few little snippets of the WIP so far, but the concept is a giant Hermit cuddle-puddle/slumber party (originally as a between seasons kind of thing, but... That ship has kinda sailed, XD) and I'm enjoying drawing all the sleepy hermits all flopped over and against each other. It's great. It's taking so long though, because I'm not great at keeping motivation (too many ideas, too little time) and also it's... It's in my full style, not the chibi-esque, so it's detailed and complicated and tedious. But so so fun.

As for the second one - RMAU-Verse Trueforms Imp and Skizz. This one is a lot closer to done, but... little edits/additional details need to be made. Impulse needs more work than Skizz, but... They look cool, even if not quite what's in my head yet... I do really like them though, and I'm looking forward to eventually finishing them...

...okay, 2 more I thought of just now - my week 2 of Imp&SkizzTober piece, which is a hug/preening/trust piece that... I can't wait for that to turn out, it feels so soft and getting Skizz's wings just right was... An endeavor but they look great now, and Impulse's wings somehow turned out perfect in the rough sketch and... I'm just excited by how soft it makes me feel. And bonus 2 is my RMAU-Verse Grian and Mumbo in Watcher regalia... They look super cool, and they're actually mainly complete (it's the other little side drawings that need completing, but my brain is currently more Imp and Skizz obsessed so... It's kinda on the back burner) and I'm really pleased with how the outfits and wings and... Watcher-y bits all turned out. Especially for also starting it like... I think 2 years ago???

The illustration from Who Holds the Devil was meant to look as much like a screenshot as possible to continue the whole "Who Holds the Devil is as close to a second season as we're gonna get" joke (which might be less of a joke now I guess?). Because if I'm writing it, why not supply people with the screenshots as well?

I even studied the specific lighting in Ga On's apartment to make sure it was the right hue and angle. And had to paste together three different screenshots of his apartment to get a reference for the background. And also had to pretend that I had any idea what I was doing when it came to the shadows and lighting — especially on Ga On's face because the reference had a completely different light source. That drawing was — and still is — the most complex piece I've made in terms of combining references and trying to make it look as unified and realistic as possible.

All of which backfired spectacularly since a lot of people now seem to scroll past it, thinking it's just a manipulated screenshot x'D

So mission accomplished? But, like, mission accomplished so successfully that it ends up being a failure since many don't seem to realise it's a drawing. One meant to imitate a screenshot from the non-existent season two, sure, but a drawing nonetheless.

I still have the WIP images from when I was drawing and here's a little gif I made out of them, in case anyone is curious:

The drawing turned out so much better than I had ever dared to hope and I'm so, so proud of it. Especially since I learned a lot during it and it helped push my limits in a way I'm usually too cowardly to attempt.

And sure, it was terrifying — especially when it came time to post it — but I also had a lot of fun. And now know a lot more about what makes things look realistic!

Here's some angst I found in my WIP pile, no triggers but hurt/no comfort

Post-war Dabi and Hawks are stuck together for some reason.

"Fuck Touya just stop, stop. I'm so fucking tired of the screaming and the fighting. We're getting nowhere and it's just exhausting," Hawks pleads, "We're here and we're not gonna get out of here any  time soon so how about we just pretend that you still love me so we can both get through this shitty fucking night."

"Pretend I still love you?," Touya snarled, "When did I fucking stop!? You're the one that broke it off with me."

"I didn't want this fucking life but what am I suppose to do?," Hawks asks with tears in his voice," I don't have passion towards anything and people expect me to be a hero."

"No one expects shit from you, not even me. All I wanted was an honest fucking relationship and you kept getting in your own way. So let's pretend you actually loved me too," Touya throws back at him, "Do you think it was easy seeing how you faked your entire personality with everyone you met? Trying to figure out if you were lying to them or me? I knew from the very fucking being that I would never be the most important thing in your life , I'd never be as important to you as you are to me but I still couldn't convince myself to stop."

Tears stream down his face as he chokes out the next part, "And now you call me up anytime you're lonely and drag me right back down to the hopeless piece of shit that will never have the self respect to stop loving you."

"I don't call you because I'm lonely I call you because I'm not strong enough to pretend that you aren't my everything anymore, I'm not strong enough to lie to myself that what we had was just a fling and you won't be the only person consuming my heart till I die, " Hawks admits wrapping his arms around himself, "I'm sorry that I made it seem like you weren't important because I'd let the entire fucking world burn if it meant I could have you and that scares the shit out of me. please don't ever fucking doubt that you will always be the most important thing in my life."

WIP Wednesday

So I actually got tagged for this twice! By @gingerbreton and @optiwashere and thank you both so much for it, it made my day. Conveniently for this occasion I also happen to have two WIPS I'm working on right now so I figured why not trot them both out!

This bit's from my John/Shayera chapter fic that I've been working on for... ever, is how it feels at this point, oh my God. Maybe I'll cave and start posting it to AO3 since it's almost done, ANYWAY:

Shayera huffed softly, despite herself. “The green guy?” she asked, and she saw J’onn look at her curiously.  “Most of us call you bird lady.” The crow’s voice was dry. “Fair enough. Did any of you see which way my mate went after the fight?” Now J’onn and Wally were looking at her curiously for that slip, but Shayera ignored them. The truth was, she’d been chewing on a theory ever since she’d come to the realization that John would be trying to hide out, not trying to seek help. All she needed was confirmation, some kind of hint that her theory was right. Looking for the Green Lantern would still be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but if she was right it would at least be a smaller haystack. I’m spending way too much time with Clark lately.

This last bit's from a Shadowheart POV fic I started that's my next piece for my Agatha/Shadowheart stuff! It... does not have a title yet. I'll think of one eventually.

No, she had done the most dangerous thing, the most unforgivable thing.  She had started to hope. That, Shadowheart had noticed. That, she had tried to ignore, had tried to bury, had tried to kill before it even left the womb. Her memories may have been shattered pieces of a mirror at the best of times, but she remembered her teachings. She remembered at least some of her lessons. If she wanted to be a Dark Justiciar, if she truly wanted to be embraced by Lady Shar, she couldn’t let hope take root in her heart. It had happened so gradually, so slowly though that she hadn’t been able to resist it even when she’d tried to. Every time Karlach tried to pull her into a joke or come up with a new nickname, every time Wyll would think up different silly names just to get a reaction from her or tell one of his stories, every time Gale gently batted her away when she tried to peek at what he was cooking for the evening only to let her sneak away with a little piece before dinner anyway, every time Astarion leaned casually into her shoulder and murmured some new gossip into her ear that made her snort, she felt it. Hells, every time she and Lae’zel bickered, even, as their relationship gradually shifted from adversarial to something she would almost consider grudging respect, she felt it.
