I'm hesitant to say this, since I've heard people get dogpiled for it, but has anyone else felt like Baeddelism's ideas are starting to seep into mainstream trans ideas to an alarming degree? "Theyfab", the TMA/TME binary as an end all be all, "transmisandry isn't real", "TERFS only target transfems", etc.

I was first out and in the community a year or two after Baeddelism first came about, and it really worries me that the ideals seem to be having an unchallenged resurgence, and how a lot of more newly out trans people don't seem to have even heard of it, or all the damage it did. And I'm not just talking about the damage to transmascs, nonbinary people, and intersex people, it also harmed so many transfems, and shielded abusers while creating an environment ripe for them to continue hurting people, not to mention its inherent racism.

I don't think I'm just being paranoid. It's extremely concerning, especially in a time like this where if we don't stand together, we're essentially all fucked. Not that unity wasn't important nine years ago, but from my memory, we weren't nearly this close to genocide.

It's possible it's not as bad here as I've seen on Twitter, TikTok, etc, since I know lessep 2.0 never got as far here as it did on sites with more very young people and people who are very new to the community, but I can't be the only one who's noticed it.

Okay so I'm replaying my Witcher 3 death march save and I do want to point out something very important about Radovid even though I've not actually been introduced to Radovid. We do have in the games acknowledgement of Radovid's age.

It has a lot of other things including but not limited to Dijkstra was basically Radovid's father figure. But it acknowledges his birth year. It has an inconsistency in that it says he was 13 when his father died which isn't possible because Vizimir dies during the Thanedd Coup in 1267 so the oldest Radovid could've been is 12 but the birth year is definitely more accurate than the thirteen, given the way that monarchy tracks their births since we have to acknowledge this is written in the perspective of an in game scholar.

So I will keep saying it because it's very important!!! Radovid is seventeen in the Witcher 3!!! That's a teenager!!! A highly traumatised abused teenager!!!

Hannah had been jealous of her, once upon a time. It would have been impossible to grow up with her without any jealousy: next to Zofia, everyone became shabby and dull. Ranks didn't matter at all, no title or royal honor could ever compete with that kind of natural charisma. Hannah loved her, but there had been days when she'd hated her, too. Now, though, she was only grateful. When Zofia walked in, nobody noticed the rest of them slipping out.

The windowsill creaked and Sigi tensed, mentally rolling the dice on who was about to ruin her vigil.

"I thought you might be out here." Bethany. The better option, in some ways.

Worse, in others.

"S'quiet," Sigi mumbled, looking out over the city rather than at her sister. "And out of the way. Only place our beloved uncle won't nose around."

"I know... you probably want to be alone." Bethany hesitated. Her voice shook. "But Mother is just..."

A heavy sigh, head tipping toward the empty space next to her. "C'mon, Beth."

The sill creaked again as Bethany climbed over it, carefully balancing on the slanted roof. "Maker's breath, Sigi, did you drink all of that?"

Sigi laughed, hollow and empty as the whiskey bottle swinging between her tented-up knees. "Maybe? I didn't see how full it was when I picked it up." She hefted it to examine. "There might be a few sips left if you want..."

Bethany shook her head, nose wrinkling. "No, thanks."

"Suit yourself." Just as well, the bottle did look empty. It slipped from her grasp as she leaned her head back against the wall. Rolled to rest at the roof's edge.

She held her silence. Bethany had sought her out, she could carry any conversation she wanted to happened.

The silence stretched, Bethany's breathing uneven but never quite breaking on an actual sob. "It should have been you, y'know," she finally said, the words soft and free of rancor.

Not an indictment, just fact.

"I know." Sigi sucked her teeth stared up at the stars. Different stars, different angles on constellations he never got to see.

Can't believe it's been a whole fucking year.

"And I don't... I'm not wishing it had been, or that you died instead," Bethany rushed out, twisting the hem of her blouse in knots. "You're just always the one to rush in to protect us, and..."

"I know. The one time that little shit was faster than me..." She sighed.

It had been different with Father; wasn't much she or anyone could do about a wasting sickness. But that damned ogre... she could fight, had fought, tooth and nail, to protect her family, knuckles bloody, lip split. And she'd do it again.

Except for the one time it mattered. The one time she was too slow.

'This is your fault...!' She still heard Mother's recriminations in her head some nights.

"'M sorry he's not, Bethy," she whispered, near choking on the words. I should have moved faster, been paying more attention-

"Me, too. I'm glad you are, Sig," Bethany leaned her head on her shoulder and Sigi grimaced at the nickname only the twins got away with. Only Bethany got away with. "I just wish he was, too."

"I know." She didn't pull away, letting Bethany take solace from the contact, wrapping an arm around her sister's shoulders.

"I miss him."

"I know." So do I.

can we trust people when they say someone is a known abuser? i’m so tired of the rpc ignoring and dismissing claims of people who say their abusers are back under different names or something like. it has happened so many times (bo/maric, nessie/sigi, castor and her 1000 aliases) and people are never believed, only harassed for speaking up. anons and some of you ask for more and more and more proofs until people are pushed over the edges and give some proofs that can’t be ignored only to then be called obsessed and stalkers and for everyone else to act shocked and surprised.

just say you don’t believe victims and are complicit in others actions. just say you don’t care and stop acting so morally superior when the victims do something you find crosses a line because nothing was good enough until that.

and this post has a special mention to natalie because while she never really changed her alias (there was a brief moment years ago) people have been claiming to be harassed by her for years. people have accused her of lying for years before the claims were believed. this is a very harmful pattern and it needs to stop.

Happy international lesbian day to ALL lesbians. Especially the lesbians who keep seeing other posts telling them they're somehow oppressing themselves.

(This is by no means an exhaustive list.)

You're not somehow harming your own community by simply existing, and the hatred is coming from a loud minority who knows nothing of our community's history. Queer elders are on our side, and so is everyone else who knows lesbian history.

Don't be afraid to take up space and be loud. Your voice matters just as much as any other lesbian's. You deserve to be proud, no matter what you're told.

Philippa straight up lying to Dijkstra about all of her motives vrs Dijkstra slowly figuring out "hey! Wait! She's using me and everyone else around me and killed our King!" vrs the irreparable damage done to Radovid.

Like i joke that Phil and Sigi are Radovid's divorced parents a lot but like... The events and everything around Dijkstra's leaving Redania and such is a very similar situation to a divorce where one parent gets full custody and the other isn't allowed to see them again. Except Phil was the one who got custody and the objectively worse parent.

Radovid absolutely 100% felt abandoned by Dijkstra. He was absolutely one of the few stabilising forces in his life and Philippa, controlling as she is, got rid of as much of that support system as she could. He doesn't know why Dijkstra left, realistically speaking Philippa played into the "he abandoned you" narrative.

I've said it before I'll say it again and I'll keep saying it til I'm dead. Reason of State would not happen like that! He would not fucking say that! Dude why the fuck do you think Dijkstra came back from Zerrikania? He didn't NEED to be in Novigrad to be a criminal boss and shit. He could've done that in Zerrikania. And Dandelion and Dijkstra's Gwent journey implies he gets back around 1270 which! Hm! When does Radovid become King? Oh right! 1270! You're going to tell me he came back and waited two years to kill a kid who he mentored and cared about? I'm going to have to press X to doubt on that buddy.

The only person in Reason of State acting in character is Philippa who's lost use of Radovid and after Loc Muinne has an even more personal vendetta against him and 100% would not feel any remorse killing a teenager.

Dijkstra would sooner kill Philippa than let her kill Radovid. I DON'T KNOW WHY VERNON IS THERE??? LIKE??? ANAÏS IS YOUR BEST HOPE FOR TEMERIA AND UR OUT HERE LIKE "nope gotta kill Radovid the only stabilising force for the Northern Realms because the well known traitorous bastard Emhyr says we could be the next toussaint" HE'S NOT THAT STUPID. I think honestly it'd make more sense if Reason of State's questline was Dijkstra and Roche double crossing Philippa (or Philippa and Iorveth who should've been there I'm so mad about that and he has ample reason to want to kill more dh'oine kings) and the moral choice still falling on Do You Kill Radovid? Because it fits with the themes of The Witcher 3 better. And it makes more sense. And they can still have their stupid empress ciri ending.

I think we've talked about this here before, but I don't think I have, and we left the house twice in the past week or two, so I'm thinking about it again.

The difference in how people treat you with a cane and how they treat you without one is shocking. We're getting used to the new treatment now, but it's still so different.

The one time we rode the bus, it was a vastly different experience, even ignoring the changes due to COVID. In a thrift store, an elderly shopper was very apologetic for accidentally getting in our way.

In Hot Topic, an employee moved a chair out of our way, and other shoppers were also much more apologetic/accommodating/polite than strangers tend to be.

In a Walmart, when we saw a visibly distressed, shivering, and alone dog wearing a service dog vest, who was trying very hard to get our attention, and sat with him to try to help him out until someone came back + sent our sibling off to go look for our parent, because I was just at a loss for what to do, and was really concerned about whoever he was supposed to be with, though he was acting off-duty, since he still had a vest on.

People passing by assumed that he was ours. (For anyone else also concerned, Henry was the service dog of the late girlfriend of the man he was there with, and he was shivering because he'd come inside while it was raining. So, very reasonable explanation he was cold, and wasn't with whoever needed him.)

I also believe we've been semi-followed by employees in stores as of late, though not with ill intent. They just really want to help us and make sure we're finding everything okay so much more than they used to.

There's also been concerned looks when whoever we're with walks off someplace else (usually our sibling) and we stay, because we realized we needed a basket or buggy or something and didn't want to walk all the way over and back, and prefer to wait.

On the topic of the bus - The driver asked if we wanted the bus lowered when we were getting off, and began to lower it before we could automatically respond with "No, it's fine" from the "don't be an inconvenience" instincts.

It's not necessarily *bad* that people are being more accomodating of us now, just.. new.

We've always had invisible disabilities most of the time, aside from when we can't suppress tics or fully mask, which is terrifying, but doing it is so uncomfortable and exhausting, so that's a different situation, or sometimes for the few moments it takes to get out and use our inhaler before putting it away again, but no one actually treats asthma like the physical disability it is.

There are a lot of other things/places I'm honestly almost excited to do/go, just out of curiosity about what ways people will treat us differently now.

The soonest one is sometime this month, I forget exactly when. We're going to finally get vaccinated for COVID. Of course, the majority of people there will also be disabled, which is also pretty interesting to think about - We've never actually been in a space with primarily only disabled people present before.

But, that factor might mean less of the aggressively accomodating behavior than we generally get in public now, at least from other patients/patrons/etc. Employees, though, I suspect may still act roughly the same way.

I guess my interest in this is probably some kind of psychology thing. I know @iris-sylph-of-mind finds it interesting, too, and they're the one in our system with a reputation for literally taking notes on headmates' behaviors, tone, body language, moods, motivations, etc, and she also likes to do a lot on Fear alignment and classpect/sway, the connections between them, and assigning them to people, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's something similar.
