Heeeey not to show up 15 minutes late with Starbucks, but have people talked about semantic satiation with regards to Ted yelling the word "practice" over and over again at Jamie? That means something, right?

#Prompt – VSS365 Prompt – Poem by the Pesky Poet

Spinning (A Poem)
Spinning for days
Afraid to stop spinning
Because then my spinning
Was spun for nothing
Am I choosing to spin
If I’m afraid to stop spinning
Am I faking my dizziness
If I choose to spin
Well probably not
But then have I caused my own spins
I think I’m going to be sick
But did I cause this sick
If I’m the one spinning
did I spin this sick
And choose this sick
Why would I do that
spin myself sick
I must want to be spun until sick
If I can stop spinning
Then I must be choosing to spin
So I keep spinning
but then doesn’t that mean
I’m choosing to spin
Choosing to be sick
If I think I must keep spinning
For the spinning to be involuntary
Then is the thinking I must keep spinning in my control
Until I’m spinning and spinning and spinning to spun until spinning has spun all meaning

Every now and then, I re-read a fic and wonder "Why haven't I been back here? This is fantastic". It doesn't take long for me to run into why. By the time I'm thinking that, my memory's caught up and I see why I haven't bookmarked the story or sorted it onto a spreadsheet. Semantic exhaustion. I found myself noticing certain words popping up in overuse across stories. I can never predict when this will happen. It's not something that's avoidable in the same way that tropes are. Sometimes, it seems like a bunch of writers hit on the need for a word other than nipple, and that word ends up being "nub". Other times, "spend" gets used everywhere, and not for monetary exchange for goods. This time, it was the word "cuddle". I hit that one-too-many incident of "cuddle" in a story and I was done. I don't know how to get around this.

Sesuatu Saat Mengulang-ulang Kata
Kemudian, semakin diulangi, semakin terdengar asing.
Wortel, wortel, wortel, wortel wortel wortel.
Loh, kok?

Has anyone else ever changed their username to a Taylor Swift lyric that rung in your mind and woke up the next day to not recognize it at all nor it's origin discographically?
