Thanks to @skullchicken ‘s recs I’m down the shojo manga rabbit hole.

First, Hard and Kiyo. It was okay, pretty cute. The height difference is my jam, and I do like dark haired glasses characters. But overall it didn’t impress me much.

Second, Seishun Otome Banchou on the other hand is hilarious. I loved it! It had comedy, charm, and doki doki moments in a perfect mix. I saw that the author had another series, prequel to this one and

OOOOOOOoooooh, GIIIIRL! This is like, the first time I saw shojo manga heroine being interested in a dick. Usually it’s stuff like, oooh his back is so wide, his hands are so large, he is actually a boy, ooooh

Context: these two are dating for 3 months and this is their first proper date. The girl’s friends put an idea about making out into her head and she’s being self conscious about thinking about... stuff.

Look at them shredding some poor bastards into pieces! I love them so much already

Some of these anime aren’t even that good. I just had such low expectations that they surpassed them. Some of these anime are genuinely good though.

D-Frag! 

This anime sounded like some stupid harem at first. You have big tits, the loli, the sadist, and what the heck was the last one? This series was oddly charming and funny at times. I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone.

Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai

I watched the first season of the Monogatari series, and this series has the Monogatari series beat. It’s far less morally questionable, it isn’t as up in your face, and it’s a pleasant series to watch. I genuinely liked all these characters and the way they were developed, and to think we were all drawn in because of a bunny girl (I was drawn in because I heard stuff about it actually having a plot).

Looked like a stupid fantasy cliche and ended up being really funny

Dame x Prince Anime Caravan

I was expecting this to be a really stupid reverse harem. I’ve watched a fair share of reverse harems based off otome games (I was scouting out anime for a friend), and I ended up coming across this. It was oddly really funny, and they know that none of these characters are ideal. They aren’t meant to be. They’re so flawed, and it knows it’s bad.

Zankyou no Terror

Everyone was saying how bad this was. It was actually pretty good. It’s because you all have high expectations. This was a solid anime. It was a little cliche. I will admit that.

Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo

Harems are usually stupid and don’t know how to get the point across well, but this one doesn’t play the same games as say Nisekoi. It has a compelling mystery that I was actually invested in. Sometimes it was a little cringe, but it was overall a pretty good anime.

Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys

Another anime based off an otome game! This time, it was good because it didn’t focus on the otome game elements. It wasn’t a great anime, but I still enjoyed it.

Zombieland Saga

I watched this because I heard the premise and was like, “They didn’t. That sounds so weird and out there!” I watched it and was absolutely blown away. It was actually really good. I would call it one of my favourites of 2018.

Kyoukai no Rinne

I was expecting Inuyasha and got an Inuyasha parody instead. The rating was so low because people didn’t expect it to be so parody-like and episodic. It was the same thing over and over again. I don’t think it was bad though.

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri

Everyone said it was an Attack on Titan ripoff. It wasn’t. For one, there weren’t any WWII references. Two, it was just not the same… at all. It shares a lot of the core staff like the studio and the score composer. I’ll admit that much. It was a very entertaining anime that I found to be well done.

Kiznaiver

This one is criticized for being melodramatic. I found it entertaining, and anime is melodramatic. That’s pretty consistent. Plus, I liked the animation (done by Studio Trigger)

Kimi to Boku.

I usually don’t like slice-of-life anime. This is an exception.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai

I wasn’t expecting this anime to be so funny and so darn relatable (thanks Ishigami). I was really going to skip it, and that would’ve been a huge mistake. It was a great anime. Kudos to Aoi Koga getting one of her first breakout roles.

Inobato

Another case of “you came in for this but didn’t get that”. This anime presents supernatural fights but ends up being a show about kids fooling around. It wasn’t that bad though.

Hinamatsuri

I wasn’t expecting to laugh that hard. It was absolutely hilarious at times. It’s like Mob Psycho 100 but in its completely own form. I highly recommend it. I just thought it was going to be a stupid skippable anime.

Honobono Log

The entire anime is like 30 minutes. It takes little to no commitment. You don’t even need to know the character’s names because there are none. It’s just a bunch of fluffy scenarios that guilt you for being the single dumbnut that you are.

Grand Blue

This anime is very questionable, but I laughed at some of the jokes in this anime. I had an online friend who watched this too, and by the end, we both agreed that we didn’t want the laughs to end. The faces alone are funny.

Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens

This anime lacks in female characters, and it was kind of stupid at times, but I found it to be a somewhat pleasant anime to watch. 

Hataraku Saibou

Never did I ever think that an anime about cells in the human body could be so interesting and engaging. The relationship between the red and the white blood cell was so sweet.

20. least favourite anime ships

There are a lot of popular ships I don’t like. I don’t like Shin Soukoku or Chitoge x Raku (Onodera is the best girl and we all know it). I don’t even hate the ships listed. I just don’t see the point. But keep in mind that I won’t be listing ships that are illegal (incest, 

Bakudeku (Midoriya x Bakugou) from My Hero Academia

Their relationship has not developed enough to really have me sold on it.

Sakura x Sasuke from Naruto

Where… where did this come from? They tried to fix it in Boruto, and I like Sarada, but this pairing just… huh?! They did this because they wanted an Uchiha child.

Ritsu x Masamune from Sekaiichi Hatsukoi

There’s this thing called consent. It seems that Masamune has never heard of it. Shame.

Im a tall girl with a short bf so a lot was so relatable lol. Our height difference is nowhere near as extreme in the show, but that didnt stop me from sending my bf the scene where otani made koizumi stand on the bottom steps to kiss her lol. Do you have any recommendations of anime/manga like them?

I have a recommendation for a manga, it’s not with height difference it’s about breaking shoujo stereotypes. She’s a force of nature and he’s a cutie who blushes.
