The voices of Vampire Therapist

Hi Tumblr! I'm Cyrus Nemati, creative director at Little Bat Games, where we're making Vampire Therapist. You might know me as a voice actor. I voiced Theseus, Dionysus, and Ares in Hades, so as you might imagine, voices are my thing.

When I started designing Vampire Therapist, I wanted to create characters not only had deep narrative depth, but that would be challenging and rewarding to voice. I voice protagonist Sam Walls and his mentor, Andromachos. Writing a game about therapy is really tricky, so being able to jump in revoice lines was a huge benefit for the game!

I also voice two of the therapy clients in the game, Dr. Drayne and Edmund Kean. Dr. Drayne is the kind of challenge any actor delights in, having three very distinct characterizations that have to seem natural, whereas Edmund Kean is the Shakespearean actor of his time.

As much as I'd like to save money, I couldn't voice all characters in the game, but I'm very picky about voices and needed a cast of the absolute best I could find. So I got them.

If you've played Hades 2, you've heard Sarah Grayson or Selene. Or maybe you know her from Gone Home or Tacoma? But I needed her ability to alternate between the very light and the very dark for murderous vampire content creator Meddy.

To play Isabella d'Este, a real historical figure and esteemed patron of the arts during the Renaissance, I needed someone with a sense of the theatrical and some excellent comic timing. For that, I turned to a very old friend, Kylie Clark, who comes much more from the theatre tradition that video games... which she doesn't play at all. Until Vampire Therapist!

For our fabulous goth bartender, Crimson, I needed the epitome of cool, sexy, and tantalizingly mysterious. You might know Francesca Meaux as Eurydice from Hades, but she went to some unexpected places to play Crimson!

I did say I wanted the best of the best, right? Vampire Therapist is a super low-budget indie, but if I'm going to fill a club with quirky, sexy goths, I need range, and for that, I got Matthew Mercer. Yeah, that Matthew Mercer. The Critical Role one. The one from Baldur's Gate 3. The one from all your favorite video games. How could I do less? He's playing Reinhard the sexy goth and Ciaran the goth priest in Vampire Therapist.

You can see the work we've put into every aspect of Vampire Therapist. I think you're going to find that it's unlike any game you've ever played.

For new comers, Sarah is my OC that I made when I was 10. I wanted a girl hero in the 66 Batman that wasn’t useless. So I gave Dick a twin. 😅 I usually draw her in anime form because that’s my art style and what I draw Batman and Robin from the 60s in. But I have an entire universe for the 1977 Super Friend’s world and yet I can’t draw Alex Toth’s style. 😭 so I TRIED.

Proud of the outcome but I’m exhausted . Western animation is so hard to draw. Also I was not above tracing over batgirl to make Sarah so you aren’t going to “catch” me at some thing since I did it on purpose 😉😌

Now that I’m done, I’m going back to anime.

Quick edit: to those of you unsure about her, just think the extra headache Bruce gets trying to raise TWO kids and one is a girl. 😂 also when Dick gets pouty and whining before turning into Night Wing, she gives it right back to him. It doesn’t last long.

Bat Fam - Break down (w/ GW)

There was a comic within the last 5-7 years that everyone thought Dick was dead and he just randomly showed back up. I don't remember when where or how, but it existed. I honestly hate the newer DC comics for this crap.

BUT. A friend convinced me to write Girl Wonder/Sarah Grayson experiencing it. So here it is.

Her heart pounded as she listened to the com link, her eyes widened - there was no way it was true. She closed her eyes and tried to find him, tried to call out for him - there was no answer this time.

She started to get dressed as fast as she could pulling her gloves and boots on, the new suit felt wrong especially right now. Her hands shake as she looked over at the pink and black boots, her hands grip the green leather material pulling it up her knees. This was something she had to do as Girl Wonder, not Wonder Wing.

She stood up wrapping her utility belt around her waist. She kept praying over and over again that this was all a fluke. She had to get to bludhaven, NOW.

The last thing she said into the com link was "I'm going to Bludhaven, I may need help, GW out." then she turned her com link off as she hopped onto one of the motorcycles they used when out on missions.

Her mind was spinning with all that had happened to her family. One was paralzyed, one was fatherless, one had even been killed, her father's back had even been broken - she had seen it all. She had been there for it all. She had been their rock as best as she could. She had even kept Bruce from breaking. Everyone thought he was just that inhuman that it didn't affect him but it had…but she was the one who kept his head up, who pushed him forward.

All of this was because she had her own rock. With her twin beside her, she could do anything.

After voicing the word "Twin" in her mind, her motorcycle skidded a bit on the wet roads leading into Bludhaven. She wasn't going to let it hit her, she couldn't. She couldn't break. She wouldn't break.

She knew where this person was. Dick had been trailing him for almost two years, she knew where he'd be at the right moment. As she got closer her heart dropped to her stomach, she pulled the cycle over panting, rain rolling down her helmet, her old costume wasn't waterproof, she had forgotten this. She shook it off, it didn't matter, nothing mattered anymore. She shook her head pulling her mind back, she couldn't lose it. She couldn't.

She got off her cycle and started right towards him. He didn't even see her coming. His dumb body guards were slow and she knocked them out with ease before using all of her strength to throw him to the pavement. She had heard skulls and bones hitting concrete before but this was different. She had caused this one.

His eyes were burned into her head - the creep looked scared. His eyes were wide and watching her every move. There was no smirk or wise cracks, the creep was still trying to breathe and comprehend what was going on. She threw off her helmet with one hand, punching him with the other. The rain pouring down on them. He was only in a business shirt and tie. Her hair was wet in seconds sticking to her face as she screamed at him, there were no audible words, nor sounds, looking back on it - she probably sounded like a rabid animal. She remembered shaking him by the front of his shirt with strength she didn't know she had.

It hurt to breathe, it hurt to speak, it hurt to move. Her joints screamed with pain as she pushed them to keep going - that he'd do the same for her. Her mind was getting close to shattering completely - it hurt to be alive.

She punched him in the face over and over again tears streaming, her body shaking and trembling as she tried to get angry at him. Her strength kept him there - he wasn't able to move or fight back. She was an animal right now.

Behind her she heard motion and knew people were coming but she didn't care. What was there to care about now? Who was there to care about now? Her mind kept coming up with a blank space each time.

She finally let out a shrill "YOU TOOK HIM FROM ME!! GIVE HIM BACK!" Then she pulled away looking down at the mangled face of the man she'd beat to near death. She shook him again gripping onto the bloodied dress shirt as if he could help her, "B-Bring him back…" She managed to get out before reality came crashing back to her.  She gasped dropping him to the ground but at the same time not feeling remorse or fear, she felt sick. Her knees shook as she got to her feet and turned.

She saw the eyes of Tim and Jason, Stephanie was there too. She knew he was there. She knew she'd have to pay for what she did. But she didn't care. They all stared at her, frightened, surprised, worried - she couldn't tell. And once again didn't care what they thought.

No one would have ever believed her then but at that moment in time she was too busy plotting how to kill herself, how to join him, how to get rid of this pain that she didn't want to carry. She couldn't carry. She could carry so much and be the smiling bubbily person but for so long…

She walked silently to where she knew he would be hiding with the batmobile but saw two people inside of one. Before she approached them, her stomach finally went against her, all that she had done and seen, she stumbled a bit wretching as she tried to hold it in. Reality was starting to sink in and fast, she was unable to ignore it.

She fell to her knees in front of the Batmobile and threw her head back screaming and crying. Her screams were heart breaking, her sobs were just hiccups after a few seconds, then her crying went silent as she felt numb.

Out of no where she felt someone hug her and pull her close. They smelled right, but it couldn't be. She knew what she had heard. Her body wasn't responding, she couldn't hug back or push them away. She could only shake and scream for them to let her go.

The world came to a screeching stop right there. Her mind froze. Her body froze. Her eyes froze in place, she couldn't hear the rain, she couldn't hear the thunder, or the engine of the car she was right beside. Her heart skipped a few beats. She couldn't breathe.

All of the mental preparation she had put herself through to live through that one moment to get revenge for his death disappeared, her heart exploded with pain and shock and relief all at once. Her body finally listened to her pleads and she was slowly able to hug him.

Her cries were quieting down to gurgles, she had snot running down her nose and face, her eyes hurt so bad, her head was pounding, her body hurt …she didn't care.

"I'm alive. I'm alive. I'm here." He kept saying over and over again. At first what he was saying was silent, just his mouth was moving but the ringing in her ears stopped and the silence went away, all of her senses coming back full force again knocking the wind out of her.

I watched Mrs Harris Goes To Paris on Amazon Prime and it got me thinking of the designers Sarah/Gurl Wonder would wear in the 1966 Batman Universe.

Dior wasn’t her style but Chanel, Edith Head and Gevinchy were! So above is Sarah in two Chanel dresses! The other designers are coming once I find proper references!
