OJT EATS | Sakanakun

As we're sure we have mentioned multiple times on this blog, we at OJT love good seafood and are always ont he lookout. We passed by this place, Sakanakun in a food court in XinYi as part of one of the department stores. We were a bit mesmerized by photos of all the quite frankly epic looking rice bowld, (boy they all looked delicious but we had to buckle down and pick one each.

Our food came together on this tray of goodies. As you can see, it looked amazing! Just that bowl topped with that amazing seafood deliciousness was making our mouths water! It was like a whole set meal so let's break down the parts one by one.

For a little bit of freshness, we had a salad. Pretty simple but also pretty tasty

We had a small side dish of pickled enoki mushrooms. Not too vinegary and with the slightly almost crunchy texture of enoki mushrooms, this was a lovely little side.

This was a chawanmushi with like a thick seaweedy broth on top. Really nice and there was a fair amount of filling in there too which was very nice!

And now onto the star of the show. This donburi was amazing with 3 of my favourite things when it comes to sushi, ikura, uni and scallop. Chuck in some flounder and otoro and I think I'd be in heaven. This thing had really generous amounts of the seafood and I found myself finishing this in no time.

We got another set that had all the same things but with different toppings for the rice. This one was super salmon heavy with a whole lot of salmon sashimi and a big smattering of ikura on top. So good!!

This place is pretty great for scratching that sushi itch without actually going to a proper sushi place. The actual seafood is super fresh and as you can clearly see from the bowls, you get a lot of seafood on each donburi! This place is a winner for me and will definitely be trying to get back there at some point!
