NEW DUDES!! They're pretty nice!! :D
Their names are Kazz (first two images) and Tauri (last two images), from my newest story STARPOINTS. They're a part of an ensemble of 5 teenagers attending an academy in space (that's the basics of it anyway, still building the story from scratch)
I talked a bit about it minutes ago here, though I don't know how reliable of a source it is, it was just a coincidence lol

So these three art pieces have been sitting in my drafts folder for well over half a year now. The fic they were going to be attached to had to recently be scrapped, and some events and concepts have changed that no longer make them relevant to the story.
But~ I don’t want them to go to waste, so I figure I’ll at least share them with you! ✨
Feel free to make a guess to what the fic was going to be about! (If you guess correctly, I’ll make a quick sketch for you. Because why not? :D)

[2022 old art dump]
If I post enough of these, I can convince myself to redraw them. Lots of eggs in this dump today.
Old art is so funny....first one is Modias, second one is Amara, third one is young Cori getting her free piercing from a salamander she found. Some of these dynamics are still accurate, some not so much. All of these were in the protype stage of StarPoint. When I was just throwing stuff at a wall until out of the depths of the void, I grabbed it all an edited it to something new.
#my art#cori#amara#modias#starpoint!#actually cori is wearing an earring#the salamander took it as food#cori took it as a new pet#she doesn't keep it for long though#protype amara and modias make me laugh that is NOT the same characters#to an extent#I don’t call my blog the recycling bin for nothing

STARPOINTS CONCEPT ART - FOCUS SUIT
Literally just got done developing some new article of clothing, so why not make it the first official post?
Since STARPOINTS has been in progress, I've always wondered how I could incorporate the human cast visiting the Igmus in a fairly comfortable fashion. I wasn't sure how I felt about having them wear spacesuits 24/7, and I wanted to try finding an alternative anyway, so after doing some light research regarding soft sci-fi clothing and whatnot, I finally managed to create my first full attempt at this...
Introducing: the focus suit! (ignore how sloppy the art looks, I was having a very hard time with drawing this morning)
To quote the above image, the focus suit is "a form-fitting suit made of synthetic material, created with the intention of [protecting] the user from potential harm that may come with traversing the Igmus galaxy. Made specifically for those not native to the galaxy." On the left is an blue print of the suit as I was mapping out its look, and on the right is the final suit. Not the prettiest, but certainly gets the job done, I believe.
The colors on the blue print image are labelled as different functions of the suit. In red is the "Life Lights," which signal potential life within the user that wears it by detecting their pulse. If there is one, then the lights are bright; if the pulse weakens or goes away, the lights begin to dim.
In blue is the "Heat Sustainers." Basically, they aid in generating and maintaining heat in areas of the body that are or could be sensitive to colder temperatures. The areas I chose were the fingers, the elbows, and the toes. I had considered on adding it to the chest, too, but i guess I changed my mind and decided to replace it with this next feature.
In green is the "Protectors." They're parts of the suit that are tougher than the rest of it to protect certain parts of the body from experiencing damage that could take them out completely or interfere with how they interact with other things. These areas also include just sensitive areas in general. For this, I chose the knees, the knuckles, the elbows, the chest, and the abdominal area from top to bottom. I also included a visor to protect they eyes. (honestly, a visor couldn't beat a helmet if it tried; it's a lot safer, but we're just talking about casual/general things with this suit)
I had also attempted to dress up one of the main characters, Kazz Trailblazer, in the suit. Kazz is one of the human characters that travels from the Milky Way galaxy to the Igmus galaxy, so having him wear the suit would most likely - or definitely, rather - be necessary.
Somehow it looks a lot better on him than the base I used.
Something I added to the suit while putting it on Kazz was what I called "Pull Binders," or "Gravity Binders." They're placed under the soles of the suit's feet and act as a way to ground the user in a similar way gravity would on Earth, keeping them mostly pulled down and binding them to the surface under their feet. This feature works both with and without footwear like socks or shoes on.
I also included a drawing showing the way his clothes completely cover the suit. Not mandatory, but most certainly a coincidence and a neat thing I felt like noting.
---
I think that does it for the suit! Trying to come up with clothing items for a space-centric sci-fi setting can be a little tough, even if it's soft sci-fi, so I somewhat decided to start with how humans would adapt to their new environment first, then expand a little bit and explore the clothing preferences for the species within the Igmus.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go take a little nap.

Someone needs to fight back by drawing Imogen with sharp angle+narrow frame glasses that sit just on the end of her nose so she looks down through them, and they make her seem distant and haughty about everything.
Ok so anon I know this is you joking (and while personally I'm like let's just not do the glasses*, I agree that angular art styles for Imogen are really good and love to see them), but like...frankly, I'm in a hotel for the night for work and have very little going on so I just want to talk about Imogen! I think she has a somewhat elusive personality, especially compared to Laura's past two characters, both of whom were pretty extroverted and I think the fanon is simply so wildly different from reality that despite her central role she at times feels like an unknown quantity.
Imogen is not sweet and retiring. She's not terribly haughty; but she's definitely a little sharp, even from the start. She's frustrated with the administrator at the Starpoint Academy despite asking for what is essentially a significant favor, and doesn't attempt to hide it - and that's in episode 1. The fanon idea of Imogen didn't even get past the half-hour mark of the first episode of the campaign before zoning out, briefly coming to at the word "headache" because the sickfic fodder alarm went off or something, but Imogen is prickly and possessive of a certain ruthlessness from quite early on. Nor is she the innocent - her first thought to cover up the noise in the hotel room is to grab Dorian and unbutton her shirt. The idea of Laudna being the prickly, worldly one and Imogen the sweet ingenue should have been dead before Bertrand.
I think the best way to describe her though is that she is walled off. There's the figurative but extremely real psychic walls, which she's only recently been able to let down, but in general Imogen just doesn't quite mix into groups. There's always a certain amount of distance that she holds. It's an incredible change from Jester, who was famously the one to bridge gaps, or even Vex, whose post-adventuring career is the most openly political of Vox Machina's. I think Orym's leadership pep talk, while a good thought, fails, because Imogen is comfortable playing the leader in a lie, but ultimately she wants to neither lead nor follow.
Anyway, that's the thing about Imogen: I genuinely do not think she consciously believes herself better than other people, certainly not in an "I'm so awesome" manner; but she does hold herself aloof. She has concrete proof of the terrible thoughts that strangers have and I think does not realize the flaws of her own thought patterns as a result. I don't want to say it's a lack of shame or embarrassment but it certainly feels faintly atrophied. It's like the social contract has been just a bit corrupted. I think I described it before as that she sees hypocrisy as "not honestly saying what you're thinking to your allies" rather than being about a discrepancy of word and action. I also wonder if the fact that Imogen spends so much time in people's heads is tied to the fact that it took her until she was 26 and had no other options in order to leave Gelvaan, despite the fact that she wasn't happy there.
I'm really interested to see how it goes because I don't actually see this as a story that can resolve purely because of the power of love and friendship. I suspect Imogen is just starting to realize these things about herself, and I similarly suspect she doesn't really care for them...but I don't think she knows quite how to stop or change nor does she entirely want to.
I think this sense of being caught between so many things - always being the secret third option - is really well demonstrated with her powers. A pretty consistent theme in Critical Role through both Campaign 2 and 3 is regarding the sources of power and their disconnect from any morality - power simply is, the wielder's choices are what matter. Imogen started out wishing to be rid of her abilities, and she's increasingly moving to embrace them, even as she simultaneously has found out that the source of her powers is likely a literal cosmic horror and her mother is much more than a voice in her dreams. It's fascinating to me that the people she tends to be most honest with are the people with the most unknown pasts, and I feel she's moving towards an era of reinventing herself. Which will put that big question of aloofness at the forefront - it is, to be fair, faster to go alone, and easier to reinvent yourself when the people who knew you before aren't around.
Anyway this is a really long way to say "haughty, not really, but she is all angles, in multiple senses of the word."
*tangent here but: I was scrolling the Imogen tag recently and something I noticed that's very telling is that most art of Imogen in glasses (and to be fair a lot of art generally) isn't described, but when it is, the description also almost always leaves out her glasses. Which really puts the kibosh on the idea this was ever about normalizing glasses or uh, any aids for people with visual impairments, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wood Engraving Wednesday
JOANNE PRICE
On this first Wood Engraving Wednesday in November, we mark the day with this wood engraving by Kentucky artist and engraver Joanne Price from the 2020 calendar of the Wood Engravers’ Network (WEN). Price is the founder of Starpointe Studio, specializing in printmaking and book arts in rural Kentucky. Price has been President of the Wood Engravers’ Network and is an elected member of Britain's Society of Wood Engravers. About her work, Price writes:
My ideas and images are interpreted through the bold but delicate marks of wood engraving. Wood engraving’s intimate scale and slow pace provide a welcome respite from our cyber-fast world. It is charmingly mysterious and feeds my need for quiet concentration and hands-on creative productivity. My ideas emerge from folk/fairy tales, everyday life, and nature, and are often explored through series.
Price maintains a particular interest in the environment and the natural world:
Wood engraving’s historic use in science and literature provides a natural vehicle for these ideas. Utilizing micro and macro perspectives I strive to connect art and science in a way that I hope pushes past mere illustration.
Our copy of the calendar is a donation of WEN member and Wisconsin resident Tony Drehfal.

[new and old art dump ft. River 2022-2023]
This art is so old, even the new one is dated design-wise. They are a supporting character of Starpoint. I can't go over their abilities or powers, or anything. Dated designs lead to dated problems. I drop a piece of lore here anyway; they work at a cafe and are on the verge of breaking down on a daily. Their emotions feel like they are getting tested every single day. Doesn't make it better when they end up picking up an unintentional part-time job while being in college. They keep smiling through it. Even if they are really about to crumble.
#my art#river#starpoint!#everytime i look at my old art i lose a wing#not because its bad but because i need to update it?#oc lore but can't be explained visually because bro does not cook it#oops#do your redraws don't be like me#i had thought of them working at a mall or grocery store#but I think doing any form of customer service is enough suffering for them

ever heard of game called "steven universe save the light" it an rpg on switch and think the mechanics work well for kirby
has a mechaic called starpoint (its basically action points)
emphasis on specials team-up attack by building up the friendship between party members
cute chibi art-style with lots bright colors thats looks right off a star aesthetic blog
if that doesnt sound like it fit right in a kirby rpg...
it has the mario rpg where if you time your attack or guard the right its more effecitve
I know a lot of people want a Kirby RPG but I’m curious on what kind of RPG do you all generally want for Kirby?
(I want a Mario & Luigi styled one cause I’m biased towards both series lol)
