If you’re wondering why you’ve never seen a Totoro sequel within a streaming list or on the shelf at a video store, it’s because despite being made in 2002, Mei and the Baby Catbus (pictured directly above) has never been released for online viewing, physical commercial release, or regular theater runs. The only places where it can ever be seen are at the theaters inside Ghibli Park and the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo, but even at those venues it can’t be seen all the time, as Mei and the Baby Catbus (also sometimes known as “Mei and the Kittenbus”) is one of a number of Studio Ghibli anime short films that screen for limited periods of time. The screening rotation has no set pattern, but Ghibli Park has announced that Mei and the Baby Catbus will be coming to its theater on December 14, where it will be shown daily through January 31.

I really wish they'd release this more widely... :/

“Mmm… Mig.” You called out I’m a whisper, hand reaching out to find your husband in the darkness. Hearing the mattress creak under him as he stirs awake. “Miguel…”

“Mm?”

“The baby’s crying.” You point out, like your younger daughter's cries couldn’t be heard from the other side of the room. Mind not fully awake as you sat the obvious.

“Mm…” Still half asleep, Miguel’s arm finds its way around your waist and pulls you closer into his chest. Making an annoyed whine leave your throat.

“It’s your turn to put her back to sleep. Get up please.”

“Mkay give me a second…” He mutters, before a silence falls over you both, figuring he probably needs a minute to get himself mentally prepared to get out of bed first. That thought quickly vanished when you began to hear his snoring under the baby’s crying.

“Miguel.” You called out again, slightly more irritated. Your hand removing his arm from you.

“Huh?”

“Miguel O’Hara wake up and put the baby back to sleep.” If it wasn’t so dark in the room, he’d see the light glare you gave him.

“Okay okay, I’m going.” He sighed, the bed creaking as he finally got up and turned on the hello kitty night light that was placed by her crib, the night light used to be Gabriela’s before when she was scared of the dark.

“Don’t take too long, I get cold when you're not in bed.”

“No promises, she’s a cry baby just like her mom.” He remarked playing as he gently picked up your youngest, Bianca. Her crying almost instantly dying down when she felt her fathers touch. Ironic considering his words.

“If you weren’t holding our baby I’d throw a pillow at you.” You said, fighting back the tired smile as you turned to look at the pair.

“Love you too babe.”

Watched Inside Out 1 and 2 back to back with some friends tonight. Shocked that I think the second one is actually the better of the two.

The first one felt a bit like a boardroom trying to trying to write a 12 year old girl character to be a blank slate. Riley wasnt developed enough for the emotional beats with her to hit for me, and the stuff with Bing Bong didn’t quite do it for me either. The movie is still cute but doesn’t get me the same way I know it did for other people

Inside Out 2 feels like it gave Riley a smidge more story and a smidge more personality. The new shit gremlin emotions feel more like the sort of creatures that would run the brain of a teenaged girl, compared to the first movie where the emotions felt a lot more detached from being representations of this girl’s emotions specifically.

It’s weird that the movie implies that people do not experience boredom or embarrassment or envy until they become teenagers. Introducing more emotions for the sequel was a fun idea but there isnt really any great way to actually write it in.

I like that people are apparently shipping Joy with Anxiety now because it’s visually like seeing Tinkerbell shipped with a mangled fraggle

i’m genuinely of the belief that the megamind sequel/tv show was meant to premiere on nickelodeon in like 2011 alongside their other spinoff shows, but then got shelved after the movie flopped financially and has been sitting around in some archive gathering dust until peacock decided to release it as “new content.”
