Coding career nerd talk/advice for beginners ahead:
Engineers early in their career like to try to be "Full Stack", especially if they're excited about coding. There's a lot out there. You'll also see a lot of "Full Stack Engineer" job listings especially for small companies or startups.
When you start out "Full Stack" one of three things usually happens:
You figure out what you actually like and eventually take a focused job (probably like 80% of "Full stack" engineers end up doing this)
You burn out and quit coding
You continue to be "full stack" and love it because you truly love to code in all sorts of environments
The last one is a rarity. I've honestly maybe only met one or two people who would fit the bill as full-stack gurus in my 12+ year career. Most just end up "full stack" in title but they're really staff engineers that play a leading/guiding role in the whole tech stack.
One thing you do have to be aware of: "Full Stack" engineering jobs are a trap 99% of the time. They're code words for "we're going to make you do the job of 5 engineers for the pay of 1". And your code quality will suffer for it.
If you like to dabble in environments from front to back, go ahead and pursue those jobs, but keep in mind you will be overworked and underpaid compared to your more focused colleagues. You're not in some losing game if you only focus on one discipline, specialization is necessary because there's just too many fucking layers to a software stack for one person to do everything well. This is universally true for every career out there, why would coding be any different?
You're going to have the opportunity to switch tracks to a different discipline along your career. You may start as a web dev but you can totally go do Android or dev ops or SDET or security or any other discipline. Once you get experience within production systems and see how the sausage is made you'll end up branching out. Or maybe not.
Or maybe you truly are a Willy Wonka of coding and you love every part of it. If you can make a career out of that, living and breathing code, go for it. It's not easy and you may find it's not worth the effort to dedicate your life to the thing you do to make money. Up to you. Just be aware that those job postings looking for "Full Stack Engineers" fresh out of college are bait for being forced to work on the weekends.

I mean my main goal short term is to land a job lol but I am srsly considering making the jump to game dev bc some guy on reddit put into perspective a lot of things I don't really like about web dev and How difficult it is to be an expert at something bc the scene (for lack of a better term) just moves too quickly. You blink and everyone is on the next big thing. I've got 5 years of experience as an SDET/QA Engineer but if u ask me basic Selenium questions, I can't answer that bc I haven't touched Selenium in a while as we've been making the switch to Playwright in my last job. It's literally on my resume bc I've worked with it. Also most of my experience is with start ups where there's barely any legacy code so you can just pick the next big thing and use that for ur tech stack.
It Is the same with being a developer and maybe it's the comp eng degree talking but what if what if I just wanna work on C++ and unreal all day everyday for the next 10 years or so and get really REALLY good at it. Sure things change with the next version but it's not as if ur relearning javascript again but they swear it's different now

u/ColonialDagger on reddit has compiled a list of people who've announced they were laid off in response to others saying "well bungie was just laying off execs/bloat/people not in d2/marathon!"
this list includes my friends.
(copied their comment below but struggling to format this as a quote)
Their post is bullshit. Just from Twitter people who work(ed) at Bungie, I've seen a 12+ positions so far get laid off, people who directly work on Destiny. This is my on-going list:
Audio (Destiny)

Note: some positions don't have sources, I started compiling this list without sources so I'll have to see if I can find the Tweets again but no promises. If you find anyone not on this list, let me know and I'll add them.
"Fun" fact: if this tweet is accurate, Parsons receives a 33.5m salary. That money could have given a 160k salary to every single person that was laid off today. Just another reminder that they're "not that kind of company".
Bungee sacks 220 people while their CEO hides.

In today’s interconnected world, globalization testing is a critical process that ensures your software or application functions seamlessly across diverse cultures and languages. It is essential for businesses that want to reach a global audience and provide an inclusive user experience. At SDET Tech, we understand the importance of globalization testing and the key factors to consider while performing it for your software. In this blog, we’ll delve into the significant aspects of globalization testing to help you ensure international success for your product.
The following are some key factors that need to be considered when performing globalization testing:
1. Linguistic Diversity and Localization One of the primary aspects of globalization testing is linguistic diversity. Your software should be able to display content in multiple languages, which means the user interface (UI) should adapt to the language and culture of the user. For this, make sure that:
Translations are accurate and culturally sensitive.
Date formats, time zones, and currency symbols are localized.
Text doesn’t get cut off due to character length differences in various languages.
2. User Interface and Layout Different languages might require more space on the screen than others. Pay attention to the UI layout to ensure it accommodates longer or shorter text strings. Also, consider the use of right-to-left (RTL) languages like Arabic or Hebrew, which requires a different UI design.
3. Date and Time Formats Ensure that date and time formats automatically adapt to the user’s region. Some countries use day/month/year while others use month/day/year. Also, consider time zone differences and daylight saving time adjustments.
4. Currency and Numeric Formats Financial data, such as currency symbols and number formats, should be tailored to the user’s location. For example, in the U.S., you use the dollar sign ($) and comma (,) as a thousands separator while in Europe, it’s often the euro symbol (€) and a period (.) as the thousands separator.
5. Character Encoding Make sure your software supports various character encodings. Unicode (UTF-8) is a common encoding standard that allows your application to display a wide range of characters from different languages.
6. User Input and Data Validation Consider language-specific input methods, keyboard layouts and data validation rules. For example, some languages have unique characters that should be supported for user input.
7. Accessibility that Ensures Inclusivity Ensure your software is accessible to a wide range of users irrespective of their abilities. Implementing accessibility features like screen reader support, keyboard navigation and text-to-speech capabilities is important.
8. Test Across Multiple Platforms Globalization testing should be conducted in various environments, including different operating systems, browsers and devices. Ensure that your software is compatible with the technology that is commonly used in the targeted regions.
9. Local Regulations and Compliance Be aware of local laws and regulations, such as data privacy laws (e.g. General Data Protection Regulation in Europe). Ensure your software complies with these regulations when it handles user data.
10. Comprehensive Testing Approach Globalization testing should not be a one-time effort. It should be integrated into the development cycle, from the early stages of design to continuous monitoring and improvement.
The Way Forward Globalization testing is the most crucial aspect of software development for businesses aiming to reach a global audience. At SDET Tech, we understand the complex nature of globalization testing and the importance of ensuring that your software works seamlessly across diverse cultures and languages. By considering the key factors mentioned above, one will not only expand their global reach but also provide an inclusive and culturally sensitive user experience for users across the globe.
