Rosharan Years and Ages
A Rosharan year is 500 days, so I was wondering: What do character ages look like when converted to our 365-day years? (This is just for silly fun, don't take me seriously lol)
Multiplying a character's age by 500, then dividing that by 365 is how I'll get my rough answers in earth years.
Kaladin - 18 (WoK) - 24.7 (Earth)
Shallan - 16 (WoK) - 21.9 (Earth)
Adolin - 23 (WoK) - 31.5 (Earth)
Renarin - 19 (WoK) - 26 (Earth)
Dalinar/Navani - 53? (WoK) - 72.6 (Earth)
Szeth - 35? (WoK) - 47.9 (Earth)
Jasnah - 34 (WoK) - 46.6 (Earth)
Lift - 13 (WoR) - 17.8 (Earth)
Taravangian - *73+ (RoW) - 100 (Earth)
*I couldn't find his age, this was the length of his friendship with Adrotagia. So he should have a few more years on top of it.

i don't know if this is actually possible since we know so little about how nahel bonds work but i can't get the idea out of my head of goro being a truthwatcher who broke his oaths but continued to pretend to be a truthwatcher publicly (using the surges through whatever method shallan used after she broke her bond with her first spren) and secretly joined the willshapers, with loki being his (possibly corrupted) willshaper spren and robin hood being a deadeye truthwatcher spren/honorblade

Apparently it's a Rosharsweep! Can't say I'm surprised - would probably take my own chances there, with Bet as a close second.
Thanks for voting and sending your reasoning, everyone, it was super fun to read the various opinions :D
You are isekai'd into a Currently Kersploding Fantasy World. Who you are reborn as (species, class, ability, location) is randomised. Current memories are retained. Metagaming is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Sanderson is a really big fan of magic that sounds fun but then is secretly hella dark and probably has to do with killing souls.
Hey look this magic lets you see pretty colors and hear music better and animate corpses. How'd you get that magic? Oh I ate someone's soul. Don't worry they're fine, they just can't experience beauty anymore.
Look Look eat the metal and you can do cool stuff like yeet yourself in the air or run super fast. Eat the metal and you can become superman.
Or alternatively, you could STAB someone with the metal and STEAL THEIR SOUL! They will be very dead and it will be very messy. But look you have magical powers plus cool new jewelry
Here on Roshar you get magical powers, a built-in best friend/therapist, and a kick ass sword. But if you fuck up at all that new friend of yours will die and you will personally be responsible for killing a tiny part of god. Have fun!

The recreance was perhaps the best thing the old knights radiants could do to humanity. The centuries maybe even millennia they were stagnent, relying on their powers and shards instead of actual skill because there was no time and not enough people to actually train. But since the 2000 years since then, ironically, the constant wars on Roshar meant that there was no shortage of skilled fighters, scholars, tacticians, and leaders. That's why the pursuer could kill every other radiant in the old days but sucked ass against Kaladin, because Kaladin was *trained* to really fight. Perhaps Honor or some other person, maybe a secret corrupted Radiant, had forseen this, or maybe things just worked out like they did. The old Radiants were heroes, even in their shame

Interviewing My Wife about the Cosmere
My wife has not read any Sanderson. However, she DOES listen to me babble about it at all hours, and she does follow this blog. So I thought I’d see what she’s picked up via osmosis about the Cosmere.
Question 1: “What are five things you are sure are true about the Cosmere?”
“Kaladin is very hot and invented therapy!”
“Jasnah is hot.”
“Dalinar is very smoofy and I like him and Navani.”
“Steris is you: she likes lists and is organized and awesome and my favorite.”
“Kaladin’s dad is a jerk and I hate him.”
Question 2: “What is the difference between men & women on Roshar?”
“Men don’t read and women are cooler.”
Question 3: “What is Rlain?”
“That’s the crab guy.”
Question 4: “What is Renarin?”
“He’s the one who leaps off of walls and has a crush on the crab guy.”
Question 5: “Who is Kelsier?”
“He’s the evil guy who is wishy-washy about being evil.”
Question 6: “Who is Vin?”
“The bad-ass lady. I don’t remember what she does but only that she is bad ass about it.”
Question 7: “Can you tell me the plot of any book?”
“The first one: Kaladin is with a bridge company that pushes bridges somehow and they all die apparently.”
Question 8: “Can you tell me about any magic system?”
“They eat metal because it gives them power but they can only use certain ones unless they are the avatar ones but that is rare. There are also ones that have spikes and get taken over by a god. Even though a spike is like having metal inside you so it seems like those are the same.”
Question 9: “Who is Hoid?”
“Hoid is the one who wears Hawaiian shirts and is kinda a dingy but he is always there. Does he even do anything cool? And somehow he got with Jasnah which boggles me.”
Question 10: “Which character is in Fortnite?”
“Uh.....Kelsier?”
Question 11: “What are spren?”
“Spren are like sword fairies and sometimes they get sad and scream.”
Question 12: “Who is Szeth?”
“I got nothing. Is he from Mistborn?”
Question 13: “How did Dalinar’s brother die?”
“I don’t remember. Killed by a lady probably? One of the badass ones. Did Navani kill him?”
Question 14: “How did Kaladin get out of the bridge crews?”
“He saved Adolin and everyone else died.”
Question 15: “Has Shallan ever killed anyone?”
“Yes. Killed her mom and dad.”
Question 16: “Has Adolin ever killed anyone?”
“Probably! He’s a duelist! (off my expression) They aren’t duels to the death?”
Question 17: “Has Navani killed anyone?”
“She  killed the crab lady that she was making logic-sex-brain looks at.”
Question 18: “Has Renarin killed anyone?”
“Probably not. He just likes to fall off buildings.”
Question 19: “Why is there a war between the ‘crabs’ and the humans?”
“The crabs don’t like the magic thing. Like when Navani and the crab lady were trying to figure it out.”
Question 20: “How did Dalinar’s wife die?”
“He set them all on fire.”

I feel like we as a fandom don't talk enough about one of the biggest drawbacks of living in Roshar: spren. Imagine trying to lie to your parents about your marks on an exam only for guiltspren to pop out of the ground. Secret crush on someone? Hahaha not in this planet because you summon passionspren whenever you see your crush walking by.
My self-conscious ass would NOT be able to survive such planet. I'll take my chances with the murderous shadows planet or the one where magic spores will kill you if you drop a single drop of water on them before I ever go to Roshar

Shallan and her stand 『PATTERN』 for my JJBA!SA au ;3; Tag for this on my blog here | tip jar/requests here Design notes below!
First, Pattern, a canon design so baller we spun it off Unchanged! Forreal though, his suit is designed after a wool runway suit I saw, I just made it look folded from paper instead. Also the model was in tights but I spared you from looking at Pattern's salad fingers-ass feet and legs. I don't really think the spinning pattern cryptic head is 100% fitting in JJBA's character design styles, but I think there's precedent for shapeshifting so why not!
Shallan, being Lighteyed, gets a far more modern/pop-y/cute design than Kaladin did (his being more utilitarian). I was thinking about how Jolyne, Foo Fighters, and some of the other jojo women look, notably things like exposed midriff, painted lips, and overalls. I know Early Canon shallan is a lot more modest and reserved, So maybe in TWOK-era she has her straps up and her sleeves pulled down over her fingertips on her safehand ok, but maybe during WOR and onwards she slips a bit lol. She's got big clunky boots on under the pant legs but the pant legs are big floor dragging bell bottoms. I LOVE the Y2K-ish lightweaver symbol I put on her shirt (it looks like a heart or a butterfly so. added heart and butterfly), and echoed it on the pants. The model I was looking at just had buttons on the shirt, but I switched it to frog clasps to look a little more Vorin fashion-y. For her body itself, I always draw shallan with twin buns and still a lot of hair left to go, thinking kinda along the lines of Disney's Merida or something with copious amounts of hair, though less curly. I also decided to give it some color depth to it and go more auburn to ginger versus scarlet or full ginger. Lastly I based her general appearance off the Korean model Jung Ho Yeon, who has also modeled with red hair sometimes! Very Shallan to me!
I'm thinking the setting is going to fall on a Roshar that's in a vaguely turn of the millennium (on earth) situation. Most of the tech is still fabrial based, but it's all kinda like what you'd see in the late 90s or something. Maybe closer to the 70s/80s actually since I don't think they quite have computers as commonplace. Navani gets one. Shallan does have a Mobile Spanreed, which is kind of like an ipad but with a magnadoodle-type board (or boogie board) for a screen and a ring with up to 10 paired other Mobile Spanreeds that you can communicate with. It's very modern and very convenient. No need for paper! And you can have them paired with many other boards! Shallan likes to draw on hers when she's not actively communicating with people, of course.
I'm getting ahead of myself. Shallan is struck by part of the Arrow by Kabsal, who was planning on recruiting her into his organization before he died. He tells them as much on his deathbed. She manifests Pattern as part of that, and identifying her as a Stand User, Jasnah and Ivory take her under their tutelage, not knowing that Shallan was actually able to use Pattern since she was a child.

back to say that i’m alive and still reading oathbringer, uni has been kicking my ass these past few months.
I just read that whole wit/shallan scene, the one about shallan forgiving herself and my dudes that me tear up a little
the azure/kaladin dynamic is very interesting, she talks differently than the people of roshar, just like a certain blade master (iykyk)
I hope to finish it in the coming weeks so i can give you guys a proper review.
(I’ve also seen the posts some of you guys tagged me and I plan on getting to it too)

I made a totally original Stormlight Archive OC, Brace. He's totally from here and not doing any spying. Just a normal messenger boy working for House Kholin. Like Felt! More below like design notes and lore.
In Brace's little personal narrative, he has a steady arc of moving further and further away from home. From the Roughs, to Elendel, to eventually Roshar. After a heart to heart with his childhood "bestfriend," he ultimately moves to become less of a fucking mess and promises to return home only when he's "better." After kicking around Elendel for a couple years on the coin of nobility, he is recruited by the Ghostbloods--as a minor bastard scion, steel compounder and talented survivalist--preying on his desire for a greater cause and his love of his home.
So here he is on Roshar circa end of Oathbringer through Wind and Truth, not really as aggressive in his machinations as his contemporaries, but still wanting to keep a close eye on this apocalyptic war. The little Cultivationspren on his arm is Maize. I thought it'd be cool to have a confidante for him without making him a capital R Radiant. After he accidentally killed her original Radiant (aluminum is dangerous) when he was caught assisting Singers, he promised to find her a new Knight and protect them with his life, coming to a begrudging agreement between them. Unfortunately, turns out Maize is a huge ass bitch and every recommendation Brace gives to her is shot down because they're not important enough to make meaningful difference in this world. Meanwhile Brace is confused because as far as he was informed, Edgedancers are all about the little guy. May or may not be an Enemies to Radiants arrangement.
I've been sitting on this drawing since December wanting to add more doodles to it, but given the fact it's been nearly a year since, I'm just going to post as is and any future additions to this will be their own posts.

obviously i was kelsier to have an interaction with shallan in stormlight 5 but you know who else i’d die for him to meet ?? lift. i want lift to manifest in his rooms while he’s preparing for something and make a comment abt his ass. and kelsier just stares at her before completely fucking losing it with laughter bc finally there’s SOMEONE on roshar who smiles and jokes when things are shitty. i think kell puts on a more serious air but deep down he wants to be the happy carefree crew leader and by god if lift wouldn’t encourage that side of him to come out ….

Magnus archives Cosmere crossover
The fear entities are a shard (Fear) that doesn’t have a vessel and is also in the process of shattering but not completely shattered. Hence the different entities but they are all still connected. Each entity could be considered a splinter of the shard once it finished shattering.
The rituals are all attempts to create a perpendicularity. They don’t work unless you use the power of the entire shard; one entity is not powerful enough on its own to create a perpendicularity.
The entities exist in a realm adjacent to ours, could 100% be the cognitive realm.
Avatars are amazed and jealous of Radiants abilities to manifest their spren in the physical realm at will.
Much like the Dor on Sel, some entities are developing sentience without a vessel, like the web.
Jon ascends to become the vessel of the fear shard in the season 4 finale.
Michael/Helen were the spirals attempt to cause an ascension, but similarly to the rituals, to fully ascend you need to be marked by all the entities.
Silverlight researchers are fascinated by how the fear shard is naturally splintering, and are studying the formations of the fears in relation to the formations of spren on Roshar.
Researchers do not like the Magnus institute on moral grounds but are also more or less willing to work with them because they want to know more. The eye absolutely steals people visiting from the Silverlight universities.
The avatars are interested in emotional allomancy and wonder if they could feed off fear caused by allomancy.
The cult of the lightness flame is incredibly proud of the fact that on Roshar, the wars are al called Desolations. They love the True Desolation and would absolutely help Odium.
Avatars are embarrassed by Roshars fear spren. Their fear spren are clearly superior.
Radiants are jealous of Vast avatars seemingly endless ability to use the surge of gravitation without oaths or need for stormlight.
Avatars who do not want to feed off of fear could feed off pure dor, but not stormlight. Basically fear is being converted into investiture to feed the entities and much like Elantrians, (but unlike radiants or allomancers) they need investiture to sustain them.
Near death experiences to become avatars work in a similar way as snapping in allomancy/trauma for radiants. Gotta have that to rip a hole into your soul wide enough for a fear entity to slip in.
Eye avatars are terrified by shard blades and their abilities to burn out eyes. Also they don’t like deadeyes. Also steel inquisitors. Hemalurgy would be very scary.
Salesa’s camera works just like aluminum, or maybe like soothing fear or a copper cloud. All three maybe lol.
Artifact storage really wants a soul caster. Or any fabrial really.
Forgery could be used to mimic avatar powers or mimic a mark of an entity
Aviar could be used like selasa’s camera.
The web uses spirit webs and connection to manipulate people.
The End is the only entity with future sight, as seen with Oliver Banks who knows people will die before they do. Other entities do not have this.
The slaughter and the thrill would get alone very well.
Kelsier would be a hunt avatar if he was ever able to get his ass off scadrial and to tma earth. As would a lot of the rosharan ghostbloods I guess loll.
Most avatars could not become radiants, but eye and spiral avatars could be come lightweavers. Lightweavers because they don’t need oaths beyond the first. And they speak truths specifically, which I think the eye would like. Spiral not so much but it would appreciate the lies lightweavers tell enough to not complain too much. Maybe the eye avatars could also become truth watchers.
Cryptics would be fascinated by the spiral. Avatars would initially assume cryptics are manifestations of the spiral.
Avatars would have mixed feelings on Harmony because balance is such a big deal with the fears.
Elias would be pissed that so many people figured out immortality before him.
Any Radiant gets thrown into the lonely:
immediately summons shardblade. “What is this place?”
Spren, “I think it’s the lonely, I’ve heard about it! Radiant,” Well it didn’t work very well”
Elias and the fused are both body hopping cognitive shadows.
These are just my ideas that have been rattling around in my brain, I would love to hear others! What would hoid think of this world? Could he even get to the physical realm? He would need to get through the fear entities so maybe?

❤️‍🩹- What would your character look like if they were a deity? And what would they have power of, and ❣️- What show/movie/game/book universe would your character thrive in? for the heart ask game :3 (sorry if you've alr answered these ones!)
I have not, thank you!
If my characters were gods, I think they'd be the gods of little things. They're only people, after all.
Izjik would be the goddess of a well-needed ass beating. Ever seen a middle school bully get their head bounced against a locker because they called a wrestler girl fat? Ever had your mind expanded by sparring against someone way better than you? These are Izjik’s domain. She appears to the worthy as a gray cloaked silhouette with bloody handwraps and a proud smile.
Sepo would be the god of the feeling you get while listening to your favorite song. Screaming out the lyrics in the car. Getting goosebumps while listening to it for the first time. He is the bearer of such feelings. He shows himself as a glimmer of dark eyes reflecting from your phone screen, radio dial, or record player.
Twenari would be the goddess of lab safety. She protects her followers from acid spills and accidentally getting crystal violet on their clothes. Occasionally, if someone has earned her wrath, they might find the chemical shower they need to use to be out of water. She appears as a whirl of colorful liquids found in the disposal bucket.
Djek would be the god of party safety. Say a prayer before you go out to the club, and you'll always find someone trustworthy to hold your drink while you use the bathroom. His faithful always find their way home even when stumbling drunk. He appears as a hazy form only to those who are heavily intoxicated, taking their hand and leading them back to their friends.
Astra would be the goddess of academic risks. She's who you pray to when you use some funky grammar in an essay or when you have to bullshit your way through citations. If your prayer pleases her, your gamble will pay off. She shows herself as a smiling face present in the twisting characters of an academic article or online journal entry.
Mashal would be the god of powering through dysmorphia. Sometimes, your body doesn't look or feel how you want it to, and sometimes, in the moment, you can't do anything about it. Mashal offers the persistence to go out and have an alright day regardless, granting the knowledge that it won't always be this way. He appears as a half-glimpsed figure in mirrors and windows, always with a comforting hand on your shoulder.
Ivander would be the god of interesting things happening at work. Having a boring day at your office job? Pray to Ivander and something might happen. It might be a food truck in the parking lot. It might be Kelly from HR getting into a screaming match with the IT guy. For good or for ill, he will always send something interesting your way. He takes the form of a faceless man in a suit, laughing at the edge of the scene.
As for what book/show/game/movie they'd be good in, that's a tougher one. Don't blame me if half of these end up being cosmere related lol
I've never seen the Walking Dead, but I do believe Izjik would do fantastic in any zombie apocalypse. She's got a good sense of community and is great at any sort of survival stuff. Alternatively, she could survive the Magnus Archive version of London. She's already used to one overbearing being named End - so what if you slap a The on there?
Sepo would do well on Roshar, the setting of the Stormlight Archive. He likes storms, he'd make a great ardent, and I think he could hear the parshendi rhythms through sheer force of will. If he ended up as a Radient, and lord knows he has the trauma to do it, he'd be an Elsecaller. The only problem would be, if he's an ardent, he'd have to shave his head, and that's a no go for him.
Twenari would legitimately enjoy being trapped in Aperture Labs. She loves puzzles and science. So what if there's some bodily risk? I think she'd actually get along with Glados and end up just asking for more puzzles once she finishes them all.
Djek would do well in the setting of The Kings of the Wyld. There, adventures are treated like rock bands, and afforded all the glitz and glamor you might assume comes with the station. He might not be the strongest fighter, but by god, can he work a crowd. He'd have a mob of fangirls by the end of his first quest.
Astra, as I've said before, would rule the setting of Mad Max. To be fair, I've never seen a Mad Max movie, but I know it has big trucks and scary guns, which are Astra's jam.
Mashal would do alright for himself in the Star Wars universe. There's just so much out there. He could wander the outer rim, helping whoever he finds as he goes. There are also a lot of other robots and robot-adjacent beings out there, so I think he could definitely find someone like himself to relate to.
Ivander, for my second cosmere setting of this post, could survive Elantris. More importantly, he could be afflicted by the Shaod and not go insane. He's already used to bearing an immense amount of pain. He'd probably just say "fuck it, were organizing this shithole now" and get to it before Raoden.
Thanks for the asks, these were fun ones :)
