I love that out of all the sims who come up on the phone, it’s Michael Madcap that’s dressed up all fancy. Game knows me too well.

Kristina Nicastro has been very busy lately. As the Arts & Entertainment consultant for Newcrest, she’s been working behind the scenes to make sure the new Lounge draws a crowd on it’s opening night.

True fame has evaded her for far too long. A crushing situation that simply cannot be ignored. She’s relieved that Ramiro, Louisa and even Michael Madcap have shown they have some talent that’s worth showing.

The council has agreed to let Kristina organise nights where the locals can show off their skills to the community. While that’s the general premise, Kristina’s plans don’t end there. She wants to encourage celebrities to visit the town’s showcase events. This way she might get the chance to move away from all these llama-brained limpets and finally live out her dreams in Del Sol Valley!

For now though, she has decided to take Romulo Padmore under her wing. Perhaps with a little theatrical training he can attract the attention of a visiting celebrity. She could then strike at her chance to take the credit for his training! That sounds very much like her. 😂

Kristina is well-known for her drama-creating abilities in town, but I don’t think that makes her a qualified acting teacher. She seems to think so though, and now “teaches” Romulo. He’s so in awe with the local minor celebrity giving him lessons that he’s more than happy to just go along with it. 😂

Romulo has been dealing with some mood swings this week. He’s feeling mortified, which can cause death in TS4. He’s normally self-assured... maybe his family and friends can give him a pep talk to cheer him up.

Romulo rehearses a scene where a giant llama stomps across Veronaville, breathing fire and terrifying everyone in the sleepy neighbourhood. His parents were just as terrified by his rehearsal.

(Romulo’s acting abilities haven’t arrived overnight so he will need to practice.)

Romulo: “Oh wow... I’m still getting over the fact I got Kristina’s autograph! Sure, maybe she’s not super popular around Newcrest but it’s a different story in Bridgeport. She sells her paintings to collectors over there and they love her. I told her I wanted to go to Del Sol Valley one day and she said that could happen if we get the Lounge lot built in town and showcase our talents!”

Romulo asked his dad what type of cake he would be getting for his birthday. Ramiro was tired from working late at the restaurant and didn’t hear Romulo’s question properly so he looked at his breakfast and said “oh, eggs and toast” which made Romulo sad. “I don’t want a cake made of eggs and toast!” shouted Romulo. Hmm, that could have gone better. 🤔

Romulo starts working on his acting skill. If only he could remember his lines... He doesn’t want to disappoint his father and isn’t against working in the restaurant but acting sounds much more exciting to him.

Maybe he should talk to Kristina Nicastro? She’s overly dramatic and kind of a big deal, right? Maybe he can get to Del Sol Valley with her help? 🤔

Romulo grows into a teenager as we get closer to the end of the week. He always loved making his friends laugh and thinks he might want to be an actor. His father also has hopes that he will take over the restaurant one day, but does he have enough time to do both? 🤔

(Romulo rolled a 4, which means he will be gaining one of his father’s traits. He rolls a second time and gets a 6, which means he is Self-Assured. We have unlocked Del Sol Valley so if one of our sims reaches L10 acting his dreams could come true.)

Cow Berry Pops Cereal Not As Popular As Presumed

Local reporter Jocelyn Padmore recently interviewed a spokesman from the Chunky Bits Cereal Company on their recent disaster of a product. “We might have to go back to the drawing board on this one” she was told. “We realise now that people’s connotations with Cow Berries and the Cow Plant aren’t as nice as we originally thought.”

Jocelyn asked him to explain why they even kept going with the idea. “At the start we thought the Cow Plant looked like a toddler’s big best friend but realised too late that it likes to eat sims which doesn’t send a great message. Things started out as a bit of fun but it’s obviously just got out of control.” The product is already being removed from shelves across SimNation and is expected to haunt the company’s PR team for years to come.

Romulo came home with another school project this week. It was for his lessons on the solar system. After some help from Jocelyn at the start, he managed to finish it all by himself. :)

Round 1 - Household 1: The Padmore Family

First family of the round are the Padmores. Ramiro didn’t manage to win a seat on the council but things aren’t all bad. He took a small loan out to build his family-run restaurant, which won’t take long considering it’s all ready to go behind the scenes! He’s hoping to pass it on to his children later in life. Hopefully their goofball son will have grown up by then. ;)

Newcrest Update #37

Ramiro Padmore Day 2/14, Summer, Year 227

“I got a promotion last night. I’m still at the Bistro but now I’m a Line Cook. I may not be cooking the meals yet but for now I will be making sure the kitchen, the recipes and the staff are all in order. I'm going to have to learn some new gourmet recipes to get any further at the Bistro, but I finally have a well-paying job to support my growing family. My boy Romulo is very independent for a toddler. The farm hasn’t been making enough income lately. We need to expand the variety we grow to ensure something is always in season.”

Jocelyn (Pimentel) Padmore:

Newcrest was able to fight off it’s early critics but the council knew it was time to seek out a sim with strong communication skills who could give them some advice.

It turned out they were really starting at ground zero and Jocelyn’s experience writing up a school newsletter once a fortnight proved to be the best the team had to work with.

It wasn’t the end of the world though because Newcrest’s main requirement at this stage was enthusiasm and mayor Louisa McCollum needed all the help she could get.

After working for the council as a public relations adviser, Jocelyn moved onto writing for The Informed Llama. She was in charge of the ‘What’s New in Newcrest’ column where she would share local news and opinions and this helped encourage more sims to join the growing community over time.

I didn’t think I’d have this much to write about her but there we go. She’s also married to Ramiro Padmore, one of the founders of Newcrest and they have two children, Romulo and Erika.

The Padmore family are using the Sunshine Starter house by Mandykay77. I’m slowly making changes to the backyard so it’s more of a small field where the family grow their produce.

At the start of the week the Padmore family were visited by the “flower bunny” who is easily mistaken to be an easter bunny but is obviously completely different. Romulo managed to collect more eggs than the rest of his family and thinks they would look good in the collections room of the town hall when he finds one of every type.
