I do genuinely feel like one drawback of specifically modern superhero comics is that sometimes you read a run and it's like... you know when game of thrones was on and they were like "yeah if we need characters to talk but don't have anything for them to do we just have them talk during a sex scene" ?
Sometimes it feels like superhero comics are that with fighting.
Didn't know what to have happening on screen. Gonna just have this conversation with our *fists.*
#this is very vague and so not really constructive criticism at all. Love how taxis function like a fast travel system in Malevolent. Arthur hails a taxi and gets in and it dematerialises and rematerialises like the Sheika slate from Breath of the Wild. And then he just chucks money at them at the end and they don't even say anything about it they just take it.

Episode written precisely for my personal liking#Too bad no Atsushi then it would have been perfect (╥﹏╥) At least we got his voice in the episdoe preview#Alright I **LOVE** Mitchell. This is not the space to talk about it properly but I just really like how flawed she is‚#but also in a way that results funny and endearing. And I love love love how much she cares about her family and is loyal to it!!!#It makes her so noble and virtuous. I know she has so little screentime but really the way she's so harsh and in apparence self-absorbed–#But in reality so kind and altruistic... The way her hearsh ways are implied to be only a consequence of a life of struggles and her will–#to save her family's name through a noble behavior and appearance too... It makes her so complex and multilayered imo#AND just how her innate tendency to defend people spans out of her family too!!!!#In my interpretation she did NOT care for Hawthorne or like him. But she still gave her life for him because she just instinctively–#protects the people around her. I don't have any strong feelings for haw/mitch but like how to blame Hawthorne I would have–#fallen for her right that istant too.#Now to Akutagawa. I'm really endeared by this episode because I'm pretty sure that's when I started sympathizing with / liking him :')#Like that's the moment when the things Dark Era showed us and the canon Akutagawa behavior click together and the watcher goes “Oh. OH.”#At least I'm pretty sure it was for me. It's bittersweet but especially sweet.#One more thing is... Wow bsd really has been like *that* since the beginning hasn't it. It's kinda silly to think back to all the criticism#the latest arc got now.#The criticism regarding how the ridiculously high stakes have been solved seemingly effortlessly in a way that resulted very anticlimatic??#That's ALWAYS been there. “Oh no the ada is done for if they found out our base!!” *holds literally ZERO consequences*#“Oh no the Guild is done for if they destruct Zelda!!” *holds literally ZERO consequences*#“Oh no the Guild knows were our clerk is!!” *holds near to ZERO consequences*#And#“Oh no Akutagawa died!” “Oh no half world population was tuned in vampires!” “Oh no Fukuchi obtained One Order!”#“Oh no Chuuya is a vampire siding against Dazai!”#It's really the same‚ isn't it?#But like‚ we're still glad all of it happened right? #have to get this down before i forget it#been having weird/not good dreams lately until last night (mere hours ago bc its still dark out this morning)#writing this on my way to work and in the dream i was on the bus to work. however an important difference between reality and the dream is#that in the dream i was sharing my bus ride w mr larroquette. as one does#this was like mouse bites era john im sorry thats the best way i can describe how he looked#and i guess it was like we kinda knew each other?? and we ended up talking about poetry writing and stuff#wish i could remember the specifics of that#at some point we got off the bus and got onto another one unfortunately a common theme in my dreams is going somewhere in a complicated way#and on that bus ride i sat next to him again and he was like oh i normally listen to music for this part of my trip#and i was like ope don't wanna keep you from that! but he didnt mind talking for a bit more and we talked abt music#bc apparently id recommended he listen to the album big world by joe jackson and he said he didn't like it on first listen but hed try again#when we got off this bus and were walkin to where i worked (i guess he worked around there too???)#we went back to talking abt writing and i was talking abt my old poetry writing class and the kind of things i wrote#and he expressed an interest in reading those old poems and i was like oh ok i guess ill look for em#but i was thinking to myself noooo those arent good i wrote those in high school you dont wanna read themmm#and then it became like hard to get down the street bc people were moving slow on the sidewalk (classic new york moment)#so we went out into the street to like cut around#and there was some truck like causing things to get backed up#and so john started like yelling at the truck driver to move out of there LMAO#and i think thats all i remember w him. but i just remember talking w him was very calming and comforting#come on man. what are you doing in my dreams#later in my dream i just remember telling people about this so im telling you all now#anyway .

im so exhausted but it's that kind of exhausted where i don't wanna get up to get ready for bed bc im so exhausted but that just means i get more exhausted sitting up at my desk when i could instead be conked out cozy in my bed. help
#this week was just sort of tiring but then i had a fucking TIME getting home tonight#had to order a lyft home for No Car and No Ride reasons. and i had to wait around for AN HOUR AND A HALF#before i finally fucking got one. and that was also AFTER 3 different drivers canceled on me#please im tired and it's friday after the work week and i just wanna go hooooome my god#and that whole thing just. being stressed wondering if i was gonna have to wait around for another 1.5 hours#for my brother to get off work or like. was i just gonna be fucking stuck there like#like tbf at a certain point i would have probably just. found a 24 hour taxi service and gotten a solid ride that way#but god. it was so. tiring. i almost had a total meltdown about it bc i just wanted to go Home and not be Cold out in the Dark#i say things

the game is so old by now but whoooo the FUCK figured out that Painted World Of Ariamis shit organically
#myposts#dark souls#if you haven't played it. there is a tutorial area in the game. that you kinda forget about afterwards#and at the end of the tutorial a huge bird picks you up and carries you to the start of the real game#and that bird keeps chilling around the main area#and if you unlock a later area there is an elevator you can take back to this area#and if you use this elevator and then jump out of a window while its riding youre on a ledge#and then you need to do a jumping puzzle (mind you a lot of people don't really know you can even JUMP in dark souls#then you walk up a ruin and at the top theres a birds nest you can climb into#and if you wait a while the bird will come and take you back to the start area#and then you have to walk through that whole area again and go back to where the game started and pick up an item that wasnt there before#and with that item you go to a midgame area you probably forgot about#and theres a gigant painting and if you clear out the room and then look at the painting youll be dragged into a new area#this is that cainhurst castle level shit#like. bloodborne has an actual huge area with factions and shit that is only accessible if you break into the games starting area#by climbing a really really hidden ladder in a whole other part of the map#and then you get an invitation and with that you have to go to a THIRD unrelated area and if you enter a specific spot a cutscene will play#and a carriage will bring you to cainhurst castle

a thought i have had is that i don't quite get the complaints that the disney worlds are just filler. even ignoring that some of them are actually tied to the plots of the games with things like maleficent learning about darkness and hearts and keyblades i don't think that is often the case? because if it is not plot stuff that is going on then a lot of the time some sort of character development and emotional thing is happening. which is honestly what i think is kingdom hearts' strongest suit.
like the coliseum in the first game isn't as plot impactful as, say, neverland but it does still matter in terms of like sora's growth as a character. specifically where being a hero is concerned. which is why i think the world recurs as much as it does. it makes for a useful shonen training arc world and also allows the game to wax on about what being a hero actually means. also deep jungle is literally in the same game.
and even outside of things like seeing aqua work through her cop brain issues with stitch and finding out that riku is working with the villains to try and save kairi in neverland i still think the things matter. because it's a crossover series. things like attraction flow and the lifetime passes to disney town or the fucking hidden mickey crater in the keyblade graveyard exist because they are fun nods to disney shit. and the world's themselves are that. i do think things like the kingdom of corona go a bit too far with just recreating the movie while sora stands there gormlessly. but like part of the fun of kingdom hearts and part of what drew me to it as a child was the idea that i'd get to run around in disney worlds. i am there in part to essentially do what i do at disneyland: look at cool themed shit.
#kingdom hearts#i do think the playable theme park angle the series goes for is most apparent in 3#a game which turns the hidden mickey game you can play at the parks into a collectible#and which adds the fucking main street electrical parade and rides into the combat#but you can see it throughout the series with things like sea salt ice cream and the recurring use of disney passes#being able to walk around and look at recreations of scenes from the films too#as like part of the fun of waits at disney or the dark rides is that you can like#see shit from the films made real with props and stuff
