Creating the you in your head

Do you fantasise about that prefect whimsical you?

That version in your head that you insert into fandoms and fanfictions, the, its you in the story but a better, more powerful, interesting, developed you. I`ve done that for as long as I can remember, its a form of escapism, and while they do often depend on the fantasy universe of powers, wands, werewolves ect I know you hope and wish and yearn to just be that person too.

I've thought and played with the idea, how to just be that person, whether their adventures, playful, brave, full of friends, opportunity or wit. I`ve yearned for that too and this year, the very end of 2023 and start of 2024 I`ve made a plan to become that person. But it doesn't matter if your doing this 3am tuesday, summer 2029, its only waiting on you, and when ever you start is when you were ready to do so.

Morph into them, act and think and do like that person in your head till their skin is more yours than theirs.

This youtuber has made a wonderful simplified version of what I've been thinking about and its wonderful to follow along as well as a great notion template. But I do recommend to do what I've done and add to it, added just statement section on what this person does this person creates things their proud of, this person has quiet mornings by the window and I`ve made a pinterest board as the way this person dresses is important to them (this will become you). One of the things this person would do is blog, so heres the first.

Everyday when ever your stuck or stagnate, think what would they do right now, sometimes living to the fullest is doing that work youve been putting off because they would've or its getting a nice drink and sitting to plan out that work or collage because thats what they would do.

If your constantly imagining and fantasying in fandoms and other worlds about what youd do or be in them, try make the world you rest in be that person too :)

The basic plot of severance always felt like a Twilight zone episode to me, so sometimes it's fun to imagine how it and some of the characters would be reworked to be a Twilight Zone ep. Like for instance would it still focus on Mark's character or Helly's, would it show the outie's life throughout the episode or save it for the end, what would be the final resolution and twist, etc.

I feel like it'd probably focus on Helly's basic character. New severed employee, they desperately try and escape, only to find out they're what they hate the most.

Like the actual show, have the innie temporarily out, only to be at a thing promoting severing. I could imagine the twist being them shut off again before they can make their dramatic speech or something. Cue Serling coming in w a monologue

Idk, i just think it's a fun thing to think about. Obviously the bulk of the show would have to be cut for a 30 minute episode, but the ways the basic premise could be rearranged to fit is neat. Especially when you alternate which character would work as the protagonist

Firstly I just wanted to say how nice it is to see you back and dabbling a little bit in Villainous again! 💕 It's been a little slow in the fandom these days, so seeing one of my favourite Paperhat blogs come back has been such a treat! I loved seeing that art + paragraph of Black Hat going absolutely feral! So exciting to see what's in store with White Hat again!

If I may, I had a question I've been wondering about... Will the new(er) Villainous episodes have much impact on your current writings? Like new characters for example, or how the main cast's relationships with each other are developing and such like?

Lmao but anyway, thank you, you're sweet. 💞 As for your question, that's gonna be a pretty definite "no" from me, tbh. As much as I like the new episodes and characters, I don't really have a fitting place for the new heroes (especially considering, as somebody else sort of pointed out, I already gave Flug a different history with a hero and ex-classmate since we hadn't known his backstory yet at the time) so adding characters like Heed and Goldheart seems a little redundant. I could possibly make cameos of the new BHO clients I guess? But I haven't really considered it or anything. My fics were plotted out years ago back when we only had shorts and orientations to go off of, so it'd feel a bit weird to try and change things now.

On the topic of the dynamic between the characters though, it actually in my opinion? feels a lot different in the episodes as compared to how they all interacted in the shorts, orientation videos, older comics, and all that. I'm not saying I dislike the episodes so far, I still very much enjoy them, but the energy between all the characters has noticeably shifted (especially with BH) in a way that I very much doubt I'll be replicating. I actually saw a post a while ago, when I was perusing tumblr (while my blog was still deleted so I unfortunately couldn't save the post and can't find it again smh, pretty sure it was by @petitprincess1 though) that summed up pretty well how BH feels a lot less "involved" with the group shenanigans now than he was in the shorts & orientations, and that extends to how he interacts with the others, too. Like, with the episodes, it's kind of like he's this completely untouchable entity that's a lot more detatched from what his staff are doing, whereas in the shorts & orientations, he was a lot more involved with them, would horse around and join in when they're all messing with each other or pranking, just felt overall more "present" with the group even though he was still, of course, very much the boss. It's that kind of dynamic that I've always more leaned towards when it comes to my fics, and it's what I prefer overall with the characters. (I'm probably rewording these points like trash lmao, but hopefully you get what I'm saying (also hopefully I didn't misunderstand that last part of your question and ramble on forever about the wrong fucking thing HUHUHU))

It'd be way too much trouble to try and keep up with new things or retcon old fic stuff

Anyway, sorry for being a rambly fuck, but yeah, TL;DR, when it comes to my fics, the character dynamics (especially BH) will continue to more resemble the shorts and orientation videos rather than the full episodes. I don't see much point in changing anything I currently have going on just to fit the newer stuff, it just feels like that'd be kinda tonally jarring, ya feel?

A little comic to sort of rework the ending a bit better ish. Some inspiration from @sicklyseraphnsuch's writing here. Some notes in the cut!

Ok, so I wasn't the biggest fan of the show's execution of the ending. Thought it was underwhelming, spent time in the wrong places, and accidentally made Simon carry a bit more blame than he should've.

My fixes would've been to smoosh more moments of Simon learning this lesson + his importance in his universe earlier in Winter King + The Star. Ep 9 jumpcut to the bus sequence again, sans the letting betty go bit, as it's revealed he's in Golb's presence. Cue an entire episode flashing through his and Betty's lives, because I think we never got to really hammer into Simon that life is worth living/moving on with despite their mistakes (he realises those mistakes himself earlier, and we don't need that Casper Nova nonsense.) Bla bla bla Ep 10, after a proper apology, thank you, and goodbye, we can satisfactorily blow Simon home etc. Half of the remainder ep to answer burning questions about how him + Fionna + Cake are healing. Anyway. Obviously I can't do those cinematic things in a comic, and I admit the script in this one could be cleaner/tighter but whatever haha. Enjoy! Please don't repost elsewhere thank youuuu

I, like I suspect many of the tumblr populace, ran into the issue in my youth of reading a lot of words I never heard spoken. My vocabulary has always been above average but my implementation is often flawed.

Like the day I told my dad I was the epitome of something and he laughed in my face. It wasn’t my fault that I didn’t correctly intuit the emphasis. (Mine was Ep-i-TOME vs Ep-i-to-ME).

My dad didn’t apologize for his rudeness but after my initial disgruntlement I just learned to roll with it. I’d get corrected and laugh it off. Some words were more frustrating though because it necessitated having to rework the word in my brain every time I read it. Like a few years ago when I learned I’d had “seneschal” wrong for decades. (I can’t explain why I thought it was sen-shull and not sen-es-shawl)

I learned that I had harbinger wrong during a Transformers movie without needing to embarrass myself. Thanks, Shia Lebouf. (Har-bing-er (wrong) made way more sense than har-binge-er (right) but no one asked me)

At this point in my life though I’ve managed to work out most of the kinks. I don’t often get corrected anymore.

But there’s one other snag that crops up between me and my beloved. I’ll confidently say a word and they’ll go, “That’s not how that’s pronounced.”

“Yes it is,” I’ll say, very firmly. Because in these cases I’ll generally have heard with my ears and repeated a word verbatim. I’ll know I heard it, so it can’t be wrong.

And pretty much every time I’ll be saying the British pronunciation instead of the American one. I’ve consumed enough British media that often it’s the only time I heard certain words said and I never realized American English handles it differently.

In some cases I’ll switch to the accepted American one. But they can pry machismo out of my cold dead hands, the American version is so stupid I can’t even handle it. I now recognize we stole the Spanish word but we made it worse.

Maybe if they had prioritized the episode differently, too.

Scully would be gone most of the episode, on fire to stop Ephesian's diabolical plan; because her faith is a part of her and she despises those that weaponize it.

Mulder would be adrift without her rationality, stepping into muddied hypnosis waters with Melissa, her personalities, and imperfect channeling.

The episode would never confirm the past lives, only having Mulder recall echoes with imperfect clarity. No archive deep dive because there's not enough time to double check-- only chaos and death.

Scully would struggle with failure, nailing herself to her own cross; and Mulder would struggle with having the truth ripped from his hands again. The episode would end as a loss to them both without having to change much at all.

i wish the field where i died was a two parter because ... it needed more. (i know most of you probably think i'm crazy lol) i want more of ~scully's journey in this episode that isn't dependent on mulder's. i think her telling mulder she ~doesn't believe he feels responsible for those lives or melissa riedel, he's only responsible to himself~ was harsh (and just not true of what she & we know of mulder). and part of what i want just a little bit more about is her aversion to the past life regressions — the pain they cause. she's listened to mulder's regression about her sister. she tried once to learn about her abduction and couldn't go through with it. it isn't that she doesn't believe, but another case of she's afraid to believe. shes afraid of what she/they'll learn. she's such a ~sometimes it's better not to know~ and leave it in god's hands. and i LOVE when her logic really is pretty damn sound — why ephysian a sociopath for believing in a past life, but mulder isn't? why is his right & real? (which ... does this line of thinking have a base in religion for her too?)

i always want to see more of scully's religious faith in the religious cults episodes (i understand that's probably an unpopular opinion but i find scully's faith interesting & important and it's something i personally don't understand)
