We take for face-value what Ronan observes in The Dream Thieves about how Adam would hate the Gansey on Fire of the substance party—and he absolutely would, in a lot of ways, because of Gansey’s arrogance and aloofness when presented with Kavinsky but I also think that seeing Ronsey at their PEAK of owner-dog dynamic would fill Adam with so much psycho-sexual frustration that he wouldn’t know how to react. Because he also does at his core believe Gansey is above Kavinsky, and isn’t ashamed of believing that like Gansey sometimes was. And I also think that Adam absolutely would not want to be part of the Ronsey dynamic at that time (he does not want to own Ronan, he wants Ronan to learn to clean up his own messes, and he does not want to be owned by Gansey) but he does absolutely want to be a part of their relationship because he gets so jealous when they do anything without him, so I think it would make him a little crazy. ((++If he saw Rovinsky interact Like That I think he’d explode))

Okay but, Lenore and Annabel would have loved Pride.

Just picture it. Lenore wearing the lesbian flag as a cape. Annabel being able to pull Lenore in for a kiss in public with out any fear. Them being arm and arm holding their colors up behind them.

Annabel doesn't literally wear the flag like Lenore does, she bought this pin though.

The one thing they don't like is that the both of them tend to get hit on quite often.

If it's her they are flirting with, Lenore tends to laugh it off (even though it does make her slightly uncomfortable), and politely inform them she has a girlfriend. Also this scenario has happened a non zero amount of times (she wasn't wearing any pride stuff at the time).

Random guy: Hey, you're cute, can I have your number.

Lenore: I'm a lesbian.

Random guy: Oh, sorry, I thought you where a guy.

Annabel, however does not like it when she, or Lenore gets hit on. She finds it more annoying than anything else. One, she knows how it makes Lenore uncomfortable. Two, she has already has a lovely girlfriend how can people not see that. Three, and she doesn't like to admit this, but she gets a little jealous. She knows this is irrational and is working on it. If it's her they are flirting with, Annabel, not quite as politely as Lenore, informs them that she has a girlfriend. She also typically reaches for Lenore's hand when this happens.

When either is around while the other is being flirted with, they tend give a look that boils down to "the audacity!"

Was thinking earlier about “People are not stupid, Ives.” “Really?” and how Ives’ self-centered misanthropy is so important within the larger thematic context of American Imperialism. Imperialists prioritize their own interests over all others since they believe that those they have deemed “others” are unworthy of human consideration. On an individual level, this comes down to believing that you are better than other people, more worthy of life and happiness. 

This is how Hart ends up working with Ives as a willing coconspirator… Even before Colqhoun’s arrival, Hart clearly looks down on the other residents of Fort Spencer. He describes them so uncharitably to Boyd that it isolates Boyd from everyone before he’s even met them. Hart hates his job and the life he lived that got him there and he copes by believing that he is, at least, a superior type of person to everyone under his command. 

In that way, Hart killing his former comrades in cold blood doesn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the logical conclusion of his superior, misanthropic perspective pushed to the extreme. He’s better than them, so why SHOULDN’T he kill and eat them? Don’t you understand? You have to KILL! to live! You have to KILL!!!!!!!

I know a lot of us latched onto Charlock and Colin right off the bat, and they do have the air of holding back wells of history that are very intertwined with the political games of Calorum, which is intriguing and engaging and I'm looking forward to seeing what they're up to during the time jump and beyond, as well as finding out what exactly their webs of intrigue involve.

However, I am also in love with the other three and how much they feel like they're still on the outside of the political games, even if they are ensnared in them.

Amangeaux has been a queen for a span of time, but always a foreigner all the same—she seems cut off from the Vegetanian goings-on, though it's unclear how much that was the case when her husband was alive, and at the same time, she does not fall back onto playing the game when challenged like someone who is more trained in that might.

Karna is a spymaster, yes, and seems plenty knowledgeable about webs of information and the world's cruelty, but she's still a child. She does not have a large pool of experience to draw on, and she has never seen the scale of conflict that is coming up close. She most of them all believes that she does understand conflict and political games, while also believing herself above it, but at the end of the day, she is too young to truly understand the war that is coming.

Deli is the child of a leader of a nation, but that nation is viewed still as an outsider among those nations who consider themselves more civilized, and he is very trusting in spite of the training that he has been brought up in. He's an adult, but he exhibits a similar amount of naivete as the Rocks twins will twenty years from now, as heirs to kingdoms who are eager to make their own way and find freedom, without fully understanding the weight of responsibility that is settling upon them.

All of these characters exhibit varying degrees and kinds of innocence and naivete, and at the end of the day, for all of the comedy of the concept, this is a war story. War stories, particularly ones about how the world changes in times of war, require a certain amount of naivete, in order to contrast how brutal the world can become against what is lost in the process.
