Meta follows Twitter in charging for the coveted blue internet checkmark

Weeks after someone saw code inside the Instagram app referring to paid verification, Meta today formally announced their latest copycat feature, the paid blue checkmark.

Like pretty much every major product that Meta offers, the blue checkmark originally came from somewhere else, in this case, Twitter. Now that Twitter is charging for it, Meta can’t resist doing the same but they added their own twist.

Just like Twitter’s version, you’ll get the all important blue badge, increased visibility and reach, and exclusive features, but you’ll also get personal customer support, something that Twitter can’t offer because Elon fired everyone already.

Meta’s checkmarks are more expensive than Twitter’s. Even more expensive than paying for Netflix, Disney+, or HBO GO. One month of Meta Verification costs the same as Disney+ Hotstar for one entire year. Think about that.

Twitter charges US$11 per month from mobile apps and $8 from the web, while Meta charges $15 from mobile apps and $11 from the web.

Meta’s paid checkmarks are available only in Australia and New Zealand for now, though, so they make you crave for it with the oh so good FOMO and envy brewing up inside of you.

But my favorite one, though, is Tumblr. For a one time payment of $8 you get not one but two badges all at once and if that’s not enough, you can buy and display up to 12 pairs of badges! They now come in all rainbow colors too, not just blue, so it’s so much fancier and cooler because you can pick and choose which colors you want. You pay once and you keep it forever. Or until you delete your account. Love those guys.

Just banged my head against a drawer when I bent over, which means it’s time for more improv Billy thoughts! Is it going to become a tradition for me to make these every time my head hurts instead of resting? Probably! Am I gonna Pavlov myself into associating headaches with improv? I hope not!

When he became champion, Billy was amazed by all the mythical creatures that he gets to interact with while doing his duties. Much to his disappointment, he learned that unicorns aren’t very friendly and take years of bribery in the form of sugar cubes to befriend. This didn’t stop him though and after only a year he managed to befriend one and the rest of its pack started to trust him too.

He absolutely adored his new unicorn friends! The novelty mostly wore off by then but the day he got to ride a unicorn for the first time was a truly magical day.

The only problem is, once you befriend a unicorn pack there’s no getting out of it. He’s one of them now, and unicorns are fiercely protective of their own.

Now when ever he’s in the extreme danger, a pack of unicorns appears in a poof of sparkles and beats the hell out of whoever hurt him. Billy feels terrible about it because they do NOT hold back, and a few too many bully’s have ended up in the hospital because of this.

This is such an interest AU idea that it completely captivated me. Rainbow as royalty screams catastrophe to me. That girl would be in trouble or causing chaos nonstop - like getting it on with the captain of the royal guard. Who either doesn't fully grasp what thin line she's walking on (unlikely) or is arrogant enough to to think her skills make her untouchable (more likely).

Either way, this is a fantastic excuse to put Rainbow in her grand galloping gala dress <3 I absolutely adore that one.

For my birthday (Dec 2nd) I thought… what would be a better gift than getting to see so many diffrent sonas? Especially if it’s of my friends, moots and possible future friends! I designed a party version of my sona and am hoping others will draw their own sonas in outfits to match that aesthetic

The plan is to draw submitted sonas in a big drawing at the end of the event! If you’re interested feel free to read more but if not please reblog this post anyway so that others can participate!

How To Participate:

Random question, but how did you do the rainbow thing in your pinned post? Is it from something you buy on Tumblr?

the gradient, yes!!! no, it's completely free.

so, i don't remember where exactly i got the instructions as to how to do it, but this is basically how the word "welcome" from my pinned looks like in html:

since it's a gradient, every letter is a sliiightly different hue, but i remember there was a website where you could basically write any word/sentence that you'd like gradiented, choose the starting and ending colors, and it'd automatically give you the html code for the gradiented text. i think it was this one?

and that's what you get!

you just gotta copy the code, start editing your post, make it so you're editing it as html, paste the code in, and it SHOULD work. hopefully!

this is not one of the like 5 video projects I'm supposed to be finishing, this is an animatic meme that I'm pretty sure is still going around which I didn't wanna miss like last time I missed an animatic meme(it still sits in my WIP folder. it's been 3 years) so yes that's why it exists. and also because I'm kinda shocked I haven't seen it yet. sorry if it HAS been made.
