Animation Professionals Over 90 Still Alive
10 years ago, Cartoon Brew had an article about animators from the Golden Age and beyond over a certain age still living.
https://www.cartoonbrew.com/animators/who-are-the-oldest-living-animation-artists-88196.html
Unfortunately, the lion's share of that group have since passed away, save for a handful of names. For this post, I would like to highlight (in age order) those from studios like Disney, Warner Brothers as well as independent bases that are around today who represent the last living links to old school animation. These include artists, directors and writers. Exclusive voice actors or animated music composers are not counted.

Museum Mile (1981). R.O. Blechman (American, b.1930). Poster.
If New York is the melting pot of the world, then Blechman's running man is a composite of the city's fine art offerings. For the 1981 Museum Mile Festival, Blechman annotates each participating institution (the Met, the Guggenheim, Cooper Hewitt, et al) as a different color and shape in the man's body and clothes. It's an altogether clever design that exhibits the artist's graphic whimsy.

Simple Gifts: No Room at the Inn
Illustrator and cartoonist R.O. Blechman and his Ink Tank animation studio produced a holiday special in 1977 for Public Broadcasting called “Simple Gifts.” The program featured segments developed by artists Maurice Sendak, Seymour Chwast and James McMullan. Here is one segment from the program, “No Room at the Inn.”
Design and Design in the Twentieth Century extends to all our followers warm wishes for peace and joy this holiday season.
Read more about Blechman’s work in our recent post.

Quote
I like to follow the advice Jean-Jacques Rousseau was given before he entered an essay-writing contest. The subject was, "Has the progress of science and the arts contributed to corrupting morals, or improving them?" ... The advice given to Rousseau was, "take the side that no one else will." Rousseau did, and he won first prize. That's the sort of thing an illustrator must do: the unexpected, the contrary--the original, when you come down to it. It's the only way to do art that justifies its name.
