It's the fact that once Mobius susses out Loki to make sure the tall, dark, solemnly brooding man in his driveway isn't a creepy stalker that it's green lights all ahead. They are literally courting each other.
Don is endeared by his seeming british politeness as Loki apologizes for suddenly leaving before completing a sale. Which, by the way, is not something people normally do. You don't return to the seller to repent for not purchasing a good. Thus leaving Mobius the only logical deduction that Loki was there trying to pursue him. And because there is some kind of an attraction there, Mobius allows him to.
He drops his children's toys to show Loki his jet skis that are especially his. When loki repeats Mobius' poetic line back at him, Mobius interprets this stranger as also sharing in his passion of jet skis and invites him to stay for beers. He eventually accepts the name Loki gives to him and agrees to go on this time traveling adventure into the tva because it finally gives him a greater sense of purpose. Because on some level, Don is not completely satisfied with his life as a single dad jet ski salesman, and maybe he would've chosen his life on the TVA next to a handsome trickster god while returning to his kids, of course.

Bucky x Reader imagine
This could prolly work with Logan too now that I think of it
Imagine you work in a DIY store (I'm from the UK so it would be B&Q for me but I think the equivalent would be home depot?) and you meet this awkward hulk of a man who's staring off into space vaguely in your direction.
"you alright?" He snaps out of it and nods quickly reassuring you he was just thinking. "Well come find me if you need anything."
.
He doesn't come back for a full month (he's embarrassed to have been caught spacing out and he also wants to know he's ready to be in public but his project isn't moving forward and he wants to finish it so he braves another trip to your store).
"screws are in aisle 21" you speak from behind him, having seen the one he brought for comparison in his hand.
Bucky quickly thanks you and heads off to the aisle. He hates that there's a loud radio and that there's constant chatter and even children running about without a care. It's a little much but his beloved family owned store had closed once Lester retired.
.
Bucky is back looking for new sanding sheets the next time he comes across you. A man is yelling at you about a refund you cannot provide but you keep your cool and tell him politely to leave the store. He had no receipt, no packaging and had paid cash there was no way to track when he purchased it or if it was even from your shop so of course you couldnt give him money. The man was escorted out by the security guard and you asked the young boy at the returns desk if he was okay, he nodded and thanked you before you walked off.
Bucky quickly fell into step with you, you gave him a curious side eye. "you alright?"
"yeah, just watched the commotion. You handled yourself well."
"thanks, at least I get paid to be shouted at, poor Ryan doesn't." You gave him a quick wink and walked away.
.
It was a while before you two saw eachother again, he had returned to the store (definitely not to see you) but you weren't in or were merely unavailable.
"hey." Bucky spoke as you handed a customer a tin of mixed paint.
"hey, there. Long time no see."
"yeah, been a while."
The conversation came to an abrupt stand still as you waited for him to elaborate. He never did and you quickly asked, "so why ya here now? What ya getting?"
"just some undercoat today."
"5." You provided him the opportunity to exit the conversation. He didn't take it and you continued with, "I can show you if you want."
Bucky nodded and let you lead him through to the undercoats. You showed him the difference between the brands and the sizing. He knew the one he wanted but liked you talking so let you.
"thank you (y/n)." He spoke as you left, your eyes flashed with confusion before remembering you were wearing a name badge
.
"hey, (y/n)." Your name woke you up.
"oh hey." You rubbed your eye. "Sorry, I closed last night and opened today so I am dead."
The security guard he had previously seen was walking past and heard your words. "They work you too hard." He spoke with a slight accent.
"yes they do Dave." You agreed with a chuckle
Bucky liked your smile and your laugh, it was a sweet, almost delicate, thing.
"you were just-" he motioned towards the computer you stood at. "Standing."
"yeah. I have to print the sales reports and do a team brief, then I can go home." You quickly logged back into the computer. "God I'm actually scarily tired." You made a face but we're still smiling.
"why did you close and then open?"
"Ahh, Carlota is sick." You shrugged. "I'm the next nearest so they call little ol' me. That's what I get for being a team leader."
"team leader?" He hadn't heard of that job role
"essentially I'm a manager but I get paid less and do more work." You pressed print. "Right, I'll see you soon I assume? Oh that rhymes!"
.
"paint is my thing." You agreed. "Let's get you paint. We want Dulux? Crown? We mix in Valspar."
Bucky gave you a shrug. "What's a good paint for a bedroom?"
"literally any emulsion." You waved a hand towards your colour charts. "What colour you feeling?"
"I don- black?"
"for your whole room?"
"yeah?"
"I'd only ever say yes to that if your house had one full window wall. Black is a lot. Its the absence of colour, to put it dramatically... it'll depress you. We can do a deep colour like a green or a maroon or even a beige but I think black is too hardcore even for you."
Bucky listened and nodded. You seemed to know what you were talking about.
"maybe have a look online at some inspo pics?"
"I don't really do online." He confessed. "I barely have a phone, I don't even think it's on me." He patted his pockets.
"oh wow. I mean good for you. I wish I could get off mine more but I read a lot on my phone so it's a bit difficult."
"what are you reading?"
"I am currently rereading the lord of the rings." You thrust your forearm towards him displaying a tattoo he had noticed before. "Kinda a fan."
"I liked the hobbit." Bucky nodded. "I haven't read the lord of the rings, yet."
"oh you must! And the silmarillian(however you spell that, sue me)!" You gave him a big smile and looked to his left, Bucky followed and saw an elderly lady waiting patiently with a colour chip.
"I'll be back for a colour."
.
"So you've chosen your colour?"
"what's your favourite colour?"
"I dunno it changes a lot to be fair." He had noticed you decorated yourself in brightly coloured things, sometimes it was your nails, sometimes it was hair clips or bangles. Either way you always had some form of colour. "Been feeling blue recently. The colour, not sadness."
"then I'd like a blue."
"for your room?"
"yeah."
"pffftt. No! You strike me as a brown guy." You folded your arms. "You have a lot of mahogany and oak in your house, you probably built a lot of your furniture, so I think a nice deep warm feature wall and the rest can be white or cream."
Bucky was able to picture what you said and did agree it would look nice. "okay that."
"right now I have like 200 shades of brown, let's have a look."
It took less than five minutes for you to say "what about thi-" and him immediately say yes, you walked him to the tills and when he was at the exit you stopped him.
"you know you don't wear a name badge."
"no," he agreed "I don't."
"you know my name, that's a little unfair, right?"
"oh, B- call me James." He held out a hand
"call you James?" You raised a brow but shook the offered hand.
"it's my name."
"right." You laughed. "Well that does it. It's a shame. I've sworn off James'"
"you've?"
"my ex was a James, so I've sworn you lot off."
"oh I didn't know."
"well how could you." You playfully shrugged.
"no I didn't know that was on the cards."
.
The playful flirting continues a while before he eventually asks you on a date, it's beautiful and you had a wonderful time. Bucky even took up actually taking his phone out with him incase you sent a text, he was bad at responding but liked that you thought of him. He just liked you, you werent a hero or a mutant or someone with supreme intelligence. You were an average person making the most of their life, you weren't a massive fan of the job you were in a fact he knew when he asked if you'd get in trouble for talking to him so much "if they wanna be rid of me that's actually in my favour". You were normal. He loved it. The idea of normality was daunting when he thought of all he had done but when he pictured you he felt warm. It felt peaceful.

AGENDABYMOONER'S DIRECTORY: CHARACTERS
Tumblr media
NOTE: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE 400 FOLLOWERS! Oh my god. As I said, this was just some sort of self-indulgent blog but I am so glad to share my work with you. Thank you all so much for being there and to everyone who likes them so much they were more than willing to engage in my fangirl phase/behaviour/whatever. I am so glad I've entered the F1 realm all those months ago lol!
To remove all of the confusion to my work, here's a character directory 😭 I'm really sorry for that.
Letting you guys know that some of them may be in the same universe but they are not as heavily connected to each other (the only ones who are connected to each other more are The Alessandros and The Hearth Sisters - Trish is only connected in one thing and that's the Rush Wedding Special)
CHARACTER DIRECTORY
THE ALESSANDROS (rushverse)
LORELEI HESTER ALESSANDRO-RICCIARDO: Måneskin bassist. Also known as Lester Allie. Has her own set of fans in F1 as she’s an ambassador for Scuderia Ferrari. Is the middle child of the five kids. Daniel Ricciardo’s other half.
MC from Rush Series and its other extras (9 To 5, Wedding Special, Mrs. Ricciardo Special)
KARA ELEANORA ALESSANDRO: Second oldest sister of Lester. Also known as Nora. A businesswoman. She has a fashion brand. Has two children: Gabriele, 4 and Maris, 2 as of 2024. Divorced before Maris is born. Has been dating George Russell since February.
MC from His Family and Her Lover
JACQUELINA ALESSANDRO: Also divorced and has two sons: Franco, 8 and Andreas, 6. Also known as Lina. Is a model in Italy. She’s quite content being a mother.
NICOLA GRAZIA ALESSANDRO: born in 2000. Known as Cola or Grazie Nichols. An author who works for Tilly’s publishing company as an editor. Recently moved to London and is currently dating Lando Norris.
MC from London Boy and its other parts.
MATEO ALESSANDRO: The only boy and second to the youngest before Cola. He lives and breathes with his equally unhinged in-law, Daniel Ricciardo.
THE HEARTHS (rushverse)
TILLY MARIE FORD WOLFF: 39 Y/O as of 2024. The eldest Hearth sister. CEO of the Hearth Automotive Groups and the founder of The Wolff Publishing. She was previously a journalist and communications liaison but had abruptly made a change in her career path after purchasing half of the Red Bull Racing. She owns 20% of both Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren Racing, as well. She’s married to the owner and general manager of Mercedes team, Toto Wolff, and has three kids with him: Soren (age 8 as of 2024), Tia (age 5), and Adelmo (age 2). Her company does not fully associate with the FiA as to avoid rumours of bias and corruption within the Formula Racing community. Her net worth increased to 5.5 billion after her company sales skyrocketed.
Main character from Colour Me Your Colour series and its extra features.
STEVIE MARLENE FORD HAMILTON: 31 Y/O as of 2024. The second to the oldest Hearth sister. Head of Communications in Scuderia Ferrari and a supermodel with little to no time. Owns 10% of the said team with shares purchased under her investment company, The SMF Association. Married to Mercedes Driver Lewis Hamilton and has a daughter named Lottie. Has a net worth of $164.1 million as of 2024.
MC from Thick and Thin fic
SYLVIE EDSON FORD-VERSTAPPEN/HEARTH: 27 as of 2024. Executive Director of Red Bull Racing’s non-profitable kids/charity programs. Also known as the Wild Mustang or simply Blue for doing a donut in her mother's 1985 blue mustang convertible at the age of 10. Could have been F1’s first female driver since Maria Teresa de Filippis had it been for her expulsion in the academy. Known for her slight dislike for Christian Horner. Max Verstappen’s demise. Net worth is currently at $196.1 million.
MC from To Loathe and to Love series and its extra features.
AIMEE YAEL EDMUNSON: 25 as of 2024. Media Communications Officer of McLaren Racing. The half-sister of Tilly, Stevie and Sylvie. The only Hearth sister who doesn’t enjoy being in front of a camera. Works hard alongside Charlotte to keep Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in line instead of wandering off. Had to leave from the 2024 season early due to her pregnancy. She’s currently dating Charles Leclerc and has two kids with him: a set of twins named Hervé and Jules Leclerc. Net worth is currently sitting at $91.2 million.
MC from Of Long Lines and Names
AMARA LOUISE EDMUNSON: Aimee’s mother. Businesswoman and owner of several businesses all across the globe - including luxury stores such as Harrods and Selfridges. She raised Aimee alongside Blanche and Aimee’s half-sisters. Much like a family, Amara would take the four as a whole when it comes to trips and thinks that Julius Hearth is a sad excuse of a father. Amara is Tilly, Stevie and Sylvie’s second mother.
BLANCHE CHRISTIE FORD (formerly Hearth): the youngest daughter of William Clay Ford Sr. and the mother of the first three sisters. Owns 30% of Ford Motor Company but doesn’t act as an executive chairman. She, much like Amara, is a grandmother to Soren, Tia, Adelmo, Lottie and the Leclerc twins and would rather be a stay at home Nan to them. Amara and Blanche co-parented for the four and spent nights drinking wine whenever the girls were out. Some had assumed that the two were “very good friends” but who were they to judge or assume?
TRISH ALONSO: Is a professional wrestler who was caught up in the F1 and WWE drama back in 2000s because of a certain Fernando Alonso. Now has kids with the said man.
MC from Heaven and its other parts.
NOTE that she is not as heavily connected to the Hearths and the Alessandros !!!
THE SAN PEDROS (rushverse) !
MAGDALENA SAINZ: Married to Carlos Sainz. A bit unhinged.
MC from Ride Home and its other parts.
PALOMA SAN PEDRO: Magda’s cousin who happens to be crushing on a certain Oscar Piastri (or the other way around?)
MC from Jollibee, Madrid and all the Romance Fiasco
NOTE: These lots are in the same universe as The Hearths and The Alessandros but they are NOT heavily connected to them.
VERA COPPOLA RAIKKONEN: Is married to the Iceman, Kimi Raikkonen, all while she had given birth to the loudest versions of him (and not drunk loud)
MC from Stop the World I Wanna Get Off With You
NOT heavily connected to the Hearths and Alessandros despite being in the same universe.
THE VETTEL SPECIAL
BELINDA HELENA ONG-VETTEL: 34 as of 2024. Also known as Bel Vettel. A billionaire who happened to be a celebrity, artist and a wife to a retired Formula One driver. She is considered a “Crazy Rich Asian” for growing up with money and her endless collection of Hermes bags that she seemed to treat as a fragile canvas. After years of trying and failing, she and Sebastian adopted a son named Kimuel, who was immediately addressed in the grid as Kimi Vettel. Some say that Kimi is a quieter version of Sebastian for his meekness and the sudden switch to cheekiness.
MC from Crazy Rich Wife and its other parts.
BARBARA ELISANDRA BLANCO: 25 as of 2024. Also known as Barbie. She happened to be 15 when Bel and Seb took her in as their foster child and continued to raise her as their own even after she turned 18. She moved to Switzerland with the Vettels after she was guaranteed a better life and opportunity to become a chef. She’s currently enrolled to study in Cesar Ritz College in Le Bouveret - which is a short drive every day so that she’ll have more chances to babysit Kimi, her two year old toddler adoptive sibling. Everyone thinks that she is dating Mick Schumacher, who would often make a visit to the Vettels home whenever he gets the chance. Mick obviously likes her, but does she?
MC from She’s Everything… And He’s Just Mick and its other parts.
ADA ABBOTT-BUTTON: Jenson Button’s wife who definitely made him work for two years straight for her attention. Is the founder of the organizations Arts for Youth and Arts for Kids
MC from the Mr. Darcy Type.
CARMELLA AYALA PEREZ: Miss Universe 2018 winner who happens to be married to a certain Sergio Perez and has two kids with him. Ambassador of Arts for Youth and Arts for Kids Mexico and Philippines.
MC from She’s Beauty, She’s Grace.
THE OTHERS (doesn't have any direct connection)
ALBERTINE PHILIPPA FRANCES SPENCER: Royally rebellious. She was born in 1996, months before her parents got divorced. She’s also married to a certain Mr. Esteban Ocon.
MC from the Royal Wildcard and its other parts
ENSLEY ZARA SOLEIL: Equally in love with Pierre Gasly despite having to make him work real hard for things.
MC from Newsflash and its other parts.
BORA McKINNON: Lance Stroll’s ex who happens to be a Kpop idol. Would probably get back together with Lance.
MC from Gotta Be You

YA/G-D anon back for some clarifications:
YA as a demographic wasn't really "a thing" until the early 2000s. There were books that were published with the intention of being read by teenagers and young children, but the strict distinction we have now (Middle grade, YA, Adult) wasn't necessarily in existence yet in publishing, mostly because it wasn't viewed as being a viable investment for publishers to make money. Purchasing and publishing novels, after all, is expensive and time consuming. So, while there were some novels well-known to be made for or accessible to teens and kids, publishers didn't make much of a distinction between the two: what we would now consider MG and YA. YA as being a useful space for teen books was encouraged by everyone but publishers, however. Educators wanted it. Librarians wanted it. Booksellers, as well. Publishers were slow on the uptake. These books for teens and kids were usually published to sell to libraries and schools with little hope for huge profits. If YA books were shelved separately, it was likely because of choices made by specific booksellers, librarians, teachers, and parents. Authors like Sarah Dessen published books in the 90s that were unquestionably YA and sold to teenagers, but these publications are now considered due to the successes in books we now call MG, most notably Harry Potter. Rowling's books sold so well publishers were beginning to embrace children, and later teens, as actual demographics to market to.
Remember: historically, books intended/appropriate for young readers have always existed but were not actually marketed as such from ground zero (the publisher, again). This is why things like Anne of Green Gables in any store with direct publisher influence, like B&N, is shelved along with adult books and other classics. Others like Judy Blume's Are You There God? are now considered MG, and some like Speak (1999) are considered YA. Upon publication, they were marked as being intended for a young readership, so they were also recommended for teens to read, but it couldn't be called YA--because it wasn't an established demographic for publishers. The sweet spot publishers were looking for was something that was read by teens and adults. Teenagers aren't a large enough demographic to rely on for sales even though things like Harry Potter showed that it's possible for certain books. When Twilight was published in 2005, this was a turning point. Teens and adults were reading the same things. YA finally proved to be profitable to make into a proper demographic from publishers. This is why, even today, YA novels arguably have more stylistic similarities with books like Twilight (2005), The Uglies (2005), City of Bones (2007), The Vampire Academy (2007), and Looking For Alaska (2005). By 2008 when The Hunger Games came out, YA was in full swing, so it was profitable for publishers to acquire more YA titles.
It's not that books for teens and kids never existed, of course not. However, there are now clear distinctions and cut-offs based on age and theme that publishers strategically employ because they actually can now. YA is profitable now in a way it never was in the past because adults read it, too (resulting in current publishers' refusal to abandon the adult readers of YA despite the G-D not being for them, technically.) YA books today were just lumped together with children's books. Now, we can divide them as MG or YA. In fact, many books casually referred to as YA are now categorized as MG.
YA didn't exist prior to the early 2000s in the way we understand YA today: books with a clear demographic of teenagers or 12-18, shelved separately from MG and adult fiction, with an ISBN telling booksellers it should specifically go in the section clearly labeled YA that is reported directly from publishers, and authors receiving large advances for said YA books (think Children of Blood and Bone). If someone noticed books in a library, school, or bookstore being labeled YA prior to this, it was likely a push by individuals to make sales or convince people to read them. It usually had little to do with publishers, so when people say YA started in the early 2000s, it's technically true because publishers didn't acknowledge it as a genre-demographic that could make money. Children's books (now MG and YA) prior to this were often grouped together and published as something to sell to libraries and schools, not something that would have a huge return on investment, like today. It's not really ahistorical in the context of the publishing industry, unless you're speaking about YA as a general term meaning books intended for teens. Those have always existed, but when people talk about YA, today, we're talking about the specific genre-demographic that has series like Shatter Me, The Fault In Our Stars, The Hate U Give, Six of Crows, An Ember in the Ashes, etc. This is important to note because there are clear publishing definitions that divide YA and MG, and if you look, many of the books colloquially called YA before the 2000s, will likely be labeled as MG today with some being formally considered YA, as well (think The Outsiders). I recall the Harry Potter books being called "YA" when I went to bookstores at one point. Now they're MG. Things have changed in how we categorize books with time. In another fifty years, maybe Ne Adult as a demographic will actually take off, and books currently categorized for adults that are just campus novels will have a new place (categorically) to call home. Who knows.
Tldr: No, it's not really ahistorical to say YA didn't exist prior to the 2000s in the sense of how we currently define YA. If you define YA books as vaguely anything that's intended for kids and teens, yes, YA has always existed, but that muddies the waters because for those books today, many are currently labeled as MG, and many as YA.
--
Yeah, seriously.
I read the shit out of Christopher Pike in the 90s, but that's when I was like 12-13, and a lot of the other fans I knew were also that age (yes, despite the constant sex and violence). Despite how "adult" it is, it really wasn't being pushed for older teenagers but for the edgy end of that tween market that ate up Goosebumps and V.C. Andrews.
I think some bookstores just stuck Pike in the horror section, though Goosebumps was definitely in the children's section a lot of places. I don't think the children's sections usually even had a sign saying 'teen', though the shelves were roughly divided by age. (Obviously, it depended on the store/library/etc. in charge. Some had better curation and labeling than others.)
It's not that I didn't want More Like Pike, but there wasn't some obvious category to go to to find such things. He was kind of his own brand and section given that he had like 994872942794629 books.

ayyyy whats up tumblr im having a kofi sale!
my heating bill is absolutely absurd this month for some goddamn reason, so i put a bunch of stuff on my kofi shop on sale. most items have gone down by $5-10, and almost everything has free shipping to the USA.
here are some of the weird and wonderful items you may be able to purchase from me:
VAMPIRE ROSARIES
Tumblr media
yes, they have teeth. yes, they have blood. yes, i have three of them and none have sold yet for some reason? get on this deal before i decide to keep them myself!
HERETIC PRIDE KANDI
Tumblr media
i mostly made these because i wanted them, but i had enough beads for more so i made multiple sets. there are also chokers.
VARIOUS OTHER ROSARIES
Tumblr media
i just really like making rosaries tbh. the driftwood & teeth one has been on my shop for over a year so it's been discounted multiple times. the other ones are newer, but they're cool as hell imo, so they're worth the extra couple bucks.
EVEN MORE WEIRD TEETH JEWELRY
Tumblr media
is this what the kids these days call "goblincore"? they've got teeth. they've got skulls. they've got mushrooms. one of them even has a bell from an old cat collar. these necklaces will trans your gender, guaranteed*!
*not actually guaranteed. i just think they are very gendery.
BOOKS!
oh god oh fuck i have so many books. hold on. wait a second.
PRIDE FLAG BOOKS !
Tumblr media
i started these in pride month last year and it took me like five months to finish them. oops! you can buy them now though, and these ones are quite affordable compared to my usual journals and notebooks.
OTHER BOOKS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm not even going to include a link for this one because there's seven of them. just scroll through the shop, you'll find them. i have a couple with lined paper, and i think there's one with grid paper left too, if you're the kinda person who likes grid notebooks. they're all discounted at least $5, and shipping is free on all of them! this is a big deal, tbh, because these are pretty damn expensive and time-consuming to make, so take advantage of the sale if you are in need of a new notebook! these ones are very cool!
aaaaaand last but not least...
NO CHILDREN "FRIENDSHIP" HEART JEWELRY!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you know 'em. you love 'em. you probably followed me because i blazed a post about 'em the day after blaze was rolled out. i WILL NOT BE MAKING MORE OF THESE, and there are only a few left, so GET 'EM BEFORE THEY'RE GONE FOREVER! guaranteed* to make the perfect valentine's day gift for your most beloathed ex!
*again, i am not actually guaranteeing anything, but can you imagine how funny it would be to give this to your ex? do it, i dare you.
(つ≧▽≦)つ---✧。* 。* 。* ❤
and that's all for now! feel free to reblog this post, share it, email it to your mom, whatever! please help me pay my dang heating bill! thanks i love you!

🎥 aaaand Zhaohui!
@soulsxng || Send 🎥 for a random scene of my muse’s life
"Honored Red Eye!" The shopkeeper's grin was wide and welcoming as the man bent into a low, reverent bow. This market was one catered towards nonhumans and the like, and the sight of a venerable Red Eye entering into his stall was no doubt an exciting one. Servants and emissaries of the gods and all of that. Clearly this man hadn't yet realized...
Tumblr media
Zhaohui smiled in a way that some sappy, benevolent dragon would. No reason not to have a little fun with it after all. "Thank you. I'm looking for some fabric, something that would work for curtains." His at his home needed replacing, and so a new pair needed to be sewn. The mundane nature of the request from a dragon of all things had clearly surprised the merchant, but, ever the professional, the man snapped back into his easy smile.
"Of course, of course, I have many high quality fabrics that will certainly suit your tastes!" When gestured, Zhaohui stepped further into the organized chaos of the man's store. Bolts of cloth were packed closely together, a riot of colors all around the small space. Even from a quick glance, the man actually hadn't been exaggerating about the quality of his cloths for the sake of a sale, a myriad of beautifully dyed and embroidered fabrics met the eye.
"Perhaps this one will suit your tastes?" The shopkeeper held up a gaudy bolt of silk colored a brilliant red and embroidered with, of course, images of dragons. It took every scrap of the already miniscule politeness in Zhaohiu's body not to immediately cringe at the sight of the fabric. Imagine, him having something like that hanging in his home? Ha! No doubt it was one of the man's more expensive fabrics too.
Glancing around, the dragon's eyes rested on another bolt-- a simple soft gray linen. Reaching out, he allowed his hand to reach out, fingers trailing against the soft material. "This one will work just fine. I'll take this." He could see the hesitation in the man's eyes at such a plain choice, but nevertheless, he nodded his head again with that same trademark smile and went to work cutting and binding the requested length of cloth. As he worked, he chatted idly.
"To have a dragon, an honorable Red Eye at that, to so generously patronize my business! Oh the looks my children will give when I tell them tonight that the Honorable Huaxiu purchased fabric from me."
Ah, and there it was. Zhaohui's smile froze on his lips and the air around him seemed to grow chilly, yet, completely oblivious, the man continued to work.
"I had heard rumors though that you now wore a patch over your eye, but clearly they are just that-- rumors! Now, here is the fabric." Zhaohui stretched out his hands towards the bundle, and with the movement he allowed his sleeves to fall back, displaying the black marks against his skin that stopped just at his wrists. The man's eyes glanced downwards then froze at the sight.
"You seem to have the name wrong." The dragon grinned, fangs bared dangerously. He wouldn't even dare to pretend he didn't enjoy the way the man nearly stumbled backwards in fright, his face paling. Yes, there was only one male Red Eye. If he was not the venerated, lofty Huaxiu then he must be the other one, the banished one. The one whose presence instilled discomfort and fear wherever he went as if he were a walking ill omen.
It was nice though, getting to spend a few moments imagining what it would be like if he were treated with such respect all of the time. But of course, as always, it was time to wake up.
"A pleasure doing business with you." Dropping a string of coins onto the counter, Zhaohui turned and left the stall without another word, leaving the shaking man behind.

So, to sum up - Saradush is a sanctuary city for children of Bhaal, led by a mad warlord Bhaalspawn named Gromnir il-Khan. The city is currently under siege by a DIFFERENT Bhaalspawn named Yaga-Shura. Both of the are super willing to kill me and also everyone inside the city. And our new friend Melissan, who claims to be a "protector of Bhaalspawn," isn't willing to give us any more details until we solve the whole situation.
Caden and I are both very unimpressed with this place.
Current goal is to find our way into the castle, so time to wander around aimlessly and see what we can find.
The city is a fairly big one with a number of POIs - about the size of one district of Athkatla. Our first stop is going to be the tavern, because Springy has encouraged me to set up Aerie with some important spells (specifically Raise Dead and Horror) which will apparently be important for some possible side quests here.
This is funny, because I don't know anything about how magic works in this game at all. I am playing on super easy mode and just left-click everything until it falls over and spits out loot. But I'm looking at the spellbook now and man, Aerie could have had loads of stuff memorized this whole time!
So I've gone through and queued up a bunch of memorized spells for her, as well as Imoen, Jaheira, and Minsc(!) - apparently he could cast priest spells this whole time? And Rasaad doesn't? Go figure.
Off to the tavern because we have to sleep to make this take effect. The tavern here does not have a fun name like The Hanged Goose or something like that. It does however have a prostitute out front who is either extremely on the grind or extremely oblivious:
Tumblr media
Ma'am there are bombs being thrown at the walls.
What I want to know is - is this a Bhaalspawn prostitute? Or did Melissan have her shipped in especially?
Tumblr media
Well, that's right good of you, Mr. Bartender. I will gladly give you my coin.
This bartender also offers approximately every kind of weapon for sale in several levels, in case I suddenly had a burning desire for like six katanas.
And...just as we purchase our room for the night, Aerie decides it's time for another lovetalk! <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eyyyyyy! <3
This is like the least romantic possible scenario she could have chosen for this, but I will go ahead and find this cute regardless and you can't stop me. :P
Tumblr media
EEEEEEEEEEEEE <3
Cuties!
Caden is, I think, not in a very good place emotionally right now (especially since he never really had time to properly recover from all the shit with Irenicus) so god knows he really needs some cuddle time right now (and whatever else they get up to - it's not my business :P ).
And hopefully Aerie feels really inspired on learning those new spells. ;)

Mary, who was born in 1832, may have been the multiracial child of an enslaved woman and her enslaver, one of his relatives, or a white overseer.
Sold away as a young girl, probably from one or both of her parents, she was purchased by the slave trader Robert Lumpkin, a violent white man 27 years her senior. When she was about 13, she was forced to have the first of five children with him. According to a descendant, she told him he could do with her what he wanted but demanded that their children be freed.
Robert bought the slave jail in the Shockoe Bottom area of Richmond, Virginia in 1844. It became known as Lumpkin's Jail, and it was one of the cruelest prisons in the South. Some even called it the "Devil's Half Acre."
She and the children likely lived with him on the compound of his slave jail, where he imprisoned thousands of enslaved people between 1844 and 1866. Some were imprisoned there before sale, and others were held after sale. Nearly all were eventually shipped away to the Deep South.
In this wretched place, Mary managed to educate her children and find a path to freedom, moving them and herself to the free state of Pennsylvania with Robert’s blessing prior to the Civil War. She inherited the jail in 1866, when Robert died and bequeathed the property to her.
She didn’t want anything to do with the property, but two years later, she helped a white Baptist missionary from the American Baptist Home Mission Society turn the “Devil’s Half Acre”—a greatly feared place where countless enslaved people had long suffered—into “God’s Half Acre,” a school where dreams could be realized.
In the aftermath of the Civil War, the school, founded as the Richmond Theological School for Freedmen, provided black students with an education. For more than 150 years, it has elevated and nurtured generations of black men and women, helping them to realize their potential. It has shaped civic, education and business leaders and developed activists who worked to desegregate whites-only lunch counters in Richmond department stores.
The same grounds where enslaved people were imprisoned and beaten became the cornerstone for one of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). Virginia Union University (VUU) is still in existence today.
It is also one of the rare HBCUs in America that can tie its origins to a black woman.
•••

Sol Fertilis: Drinking Culture
Alcohol
Wine and Beer are deeply ingrained into Sol Fertilis' cuisine and culture. As it came from the Ancient Roman Empire, wine is important with Sol Fertilis, mainly its clergy, held it in high regard as it symbolized a connection with the gods, natural instincts, and unity as every rank would drink it together. This also means unity between allies and peace with former adversities. The idiom “sharing the bottle” means a strong bond or a great measure to create an alliance. This comes from how the Unified Amendment Party and the Independent Labor Movement solidified their alliance to create the Progressive Natalist Party when, during the final negotiation, all of them drank from the same bottle of wine.
Beer is also considered to be important as it represents nutrition, payment, friendships, and hydration. During the Great Economic Collapse, governments created a prohibition and created a high tax on beer since it was very common. When the PNP got elected, they took down the prohibition. As a reward, the PNP gave away beer to their security and workers after a long day of work or took them to beer gardens. This is why beer is often associated with Delta Minuses, Betas, and Gamma Minuses. For May 1st, many workers would celebrate in beer gardens, cider houses, and nightclubs. Once they graduated from the Centers, teenagers would celebrate with their friends with beer.
Alewives and Cup-bearers are important religious roles held by Gamma Minuses as they are a part of the production, transport, and sale of alcohol, primarily wine, and beer.
Legal Drinking Age
In Sol Fertilis, the legal drinking age varies based on which alcohol. For wine with an alcohol content of five percent or lower with a meal, it is ten years old. For a beer with a meal, it is twelve years old. For other fermented drinks with an alcohol content of ten percent and lower with a meal, it is fourteen years old. For wine with an alcohol content of eleven percent and higher or beer without a meal, it is sixteen years old. Distilled alcohol, such as vodka, spirits, gin, rum, and whiskey, is eighteen years old.
Despite the low drinking age, alcoholism is very low in Sol Fertilis.
Omegas and female Gammas are only given low and non-alcoholic beer and wine during their heat. They are not allowed to have distilled drinks as well. This is also the case for the Vestals as intoxication would interfere with their work.
For Alpha and Delta students aboard, along with Missionaries, they tend to do “Hello, Sir”. “Hello, Sir” is where a Sol Fertilian minor asked an adult of legal drinking in the host country to purchase alcohol for them. This occurs when the host country’s drinking age is at least 18 for all alcohols. This practice is heavily discouraged by the embassies, ambassadors, Cousins, Aunties, and Grannies. This would lead to criminal charges against the adult and disciplinary action against the minor. In order to combat this, embassies would have a bar for them to drink in as it applies only to Sol Fertilis laws once inside.
Tourists are reminded of the legal drinking whenever they enter a drinking establishment so they would not be too surprised to see a ten-year-old there. At the same time, children and teenagers are told to never share alcohol with non-Sol Fertilian minors without direct permission.

Over a decade ago I sat down and watched a movie I’d purchased on iTunes, the movie was Taken. It was an intense and scary movie that some have said all young women should watch as a reminder of some of the dangers in life. But it was a work of fiction taking inspiration from things that actually occur.
A lot has happened since then, one thing that has happened is that I’m a father of a energetic 8 year old that I love deeply. A week or so ago Becky asked me if I had heard about this movie “Sound of Freedom.” I’m not chronically on social media so I don’t see many movie trailers, and so I looked up the trailer. Then I purchased a ticket and watched it last night with a good friend.
I won’t spoil this film for those intending to watch it, but for those that might be on the fence. You should absolutely go see this film. I heard the phrase “It’s like Taken but with more heart” said by Jim Caviezel (who played the main character of the film). He was absolutely correct. this film was even more chilling than Taken was. Taken was just a work of fiction, this is based on true events.
I would not call this a feel good movie, it’s not the movie you’re going to pull up for the family movie night (at least not for younger kids, teens could potentially benefit from it). I had tears in my eyes for much of the movie. This is a movie that if you have kids, you should watch. Today’s world has dangers that are standing around every corner. This film may only give you a dramatized slice, but it should be warning enough and also a challenge enough for us to hold our children close, and do everything in our power to protect and teach them. And to pray and do what we can for those children suffering in slavery today.
God’s children are not for sale.

10/18 Hosea 3:3
3 And I said to her, "You must dwell as mine for many days. You shall not play the whore, or belong to another man; so will I also be to you."
During the decline and fall of Israel, God told Hosea to take a wife of whoredom. She bore him three children and then left to look for other lovers. Each one was successively poorer than the previous one. Hosea went and searched for her. He gave her lover the money to buy things she needed (Hosea 2:5, 8). She gave her lover the credit for those things, not knowing it was Hosea who had provided it. Her lover probably thought Hosea was a fool. Indeed, love does things that appear foolish. Imagine the pain in Hosea's heart as he caught a glimpse of her embracing her lover in gratitude for the gifts. Can you see God's heart weeping over us as we run after other loves and receive His gifts but then credit them to the world or our own abilities (James 4:4)?
Finally she was reduced to utter poverty and stood for sale on the slave block. Hosea bought her back. Now she must stay with him and do his bidding, but God had commanded Hosea to love her even as he was loved by God. Though she was bound by law to be faithful, Hosea declared, "So will I also be to you."
When we are reduced to shame by our sinful nature, God comes and redeems us. We would be blessed just to be a slave in His service. We are obligated to do whatever He asks in utter faithfulness, for we are purchased by His blood. The amazing thing that we find difficult to grasp is that He declares, "So will I also be to you."
Consider: This is the greatest love story ever told. It's about Jesus and you.
