clem is such an interesting character and so different from what i usually see in IFs like I've yet to see an RO who is scared of everything? in a world of girlbosses and mansplainers we need the clems

i'm glad that they feel different :-) when i started tnp, a lot of romance stories, especially fantasy or supernatural, tended to put the mc in Clementine's role. there are exceptions now, of course, i'm not trying to make a broad statement, especially since within IF that's actually something that's changed a lot over the years, but i definitely wanted the mc in tnp to be the competent, protective, "mysterious stranger" type, which is an archetype that used to (typically) go exclusively to love interests.

which means that we get to have poor little meow meows like Clementine as our love interests, instead :-) i also really like having Clem as a bit of balance, because they're life has been so different from everyone else's - Merry is a career criminal, and we've seen that she has no hesitation getting nasty and violent, while Noel, Lea, and the hunter have all been entrenched in the Order for their entire lives, with all of them also being very familiar with violence and comfortable with it or at the very least indifferent towards it.

even though Clementine is running from something, and is just as much as a fugitive as Noel, compared to the others, they really are the "normal" one, who just had their life upturned by running into a group of hardened fighters and criminals. or at least, upturned in a different way than it already was.... we'll get to see their reaction in the second half of chapter 2, but Clementine deals with what happened in Blackwater very differently than everyone else, because it's not like something they've ever really experienced before.

shepherds of haven is SO dear to me. the world is just so expansive and alive and it's so thorough, it has such RPG vibes. particular blade & chase simp :D

throne of ashes changed my brain chemistry tbh... ruben's route is the only complete one currently but im completely head over heels in love with him. i love how it deals with trauma and healing. & the bonus content from the author's patreon lives in my head rent free.

the exile should be studied bc the impact it's had on me relative to the number of chapters it has so far... love love love the angst, familial drama, and mc backstory. nikke slut <3

the soul stone war is one of the earliest i read and it just makes me feel warm and cozy, i just love the romance and friendships and it'll always be a comfort IF for me.

i am DMing for my friends, it was the only way to get them to play. i started out with only 2 players, just for some light fun, but i ended up with 5 now and a whole homebrew campaign that they can play around in and so far they do seem to be enjoying being chaotic gremlins with the side of Mystery Plot i threw at them

IF is amazing, i love the versatility of the format. idk if i could pick a true top 3, but for ones in progress ones i keep going back and replaying there's A Tale of Crowns (a favorite and one of the first ones i played, like 2 years ago when it was first released), Project Hadea, and Attolo. i love all of them dearly and cannot wait to see how they end up. for finished ones, i loveeeee Way Walkers University (i feel like it's so underrated, but i really like the style it is written in and how well developed the world of it is, there just so much and the variations you can play are huge), The Passenger (Roach my beloved), and i really liked I, The Forgotten One (been following this one before it was published, and it's truly not everyones' cup, but i found it compelling)

the story i'm working on is kind of fantasy adventure, heavily based on mythology and folklore (specifically romanian one), and i am planning to like, make it public at some point this year (still ironing and detailing some stuff, but the bones are solid, it's been rooting around in my brain for A While). the main cast are all variations of very very old ocs i have (originally for another story sort of in the same vein, but i'd like to think i grew a bit as a writer and they're more put together now, as well as the story itself). so imma hold on to the details about this whole thing for now but aaah thank u for being interested in it <3333

aah first ending i got was accident as sidestep, stayed as sidestep, and got the whole old gang involved in breaking them out of the hospital. i've been playing sidestep as a reluctant villain that's gunning for justice/exposing what the Powers That Be are actually up to (anarchist villain baby), all while being friendly with the Rangers and ended up keeping the cover so none of them know about the villain sidegig lmao. been trying to psych myself to play a fully evil sidestep but. it's hard. and i loooove playing reluctant and tired mcs that are done with everything but ultimately will do the right thing at any cost (tragic heroes my beloved)

16 year old me would have given anything to have a black cat named either Loki or Thanatos and you know what? they were right. but in reality i will probably just end up adopting a bunch of stray animals and naming them like. normal human names. or food names (i am very fond of the name Clementine, but it is kind of a mouthful)

lmao i remember next to nothing of the series, i've read it forever ago (i was like, maybe 13?? when i got the first book). all i remember was that i liked Sookie very much at the time. it was i think the first like, adult book series i read and it was fascinating to my young brain, seeing a fully developed female main character being badass and resourceful and kinda doing her own thing (the series is from her perspective, so that was also kind of novel at the time, after reading a lot of like, classical literature and school stuff). idk if i'd recommend it now, but it was definitely formative for me. it's also the series that got me into like, modern fantasy (both reading and writing it)

the way I'm about to embarrass myself for y'all!! waaaay back in the day (think like 12-14ish), one of my biggest fixations was, alas, Total Drama of all things. complete with my favoritest OC for it who was a punk/goth musician and totally wasn't an LI to the character I had a crush on. winks with both eyes. tall, thin, black hair, blue eyes, basically a cool and chill person but snarky. she got the snark from me.

nowadays, she's my Project Hadea MC lol. Rose has had a lot of tweaking and changing over the years (she's more technologically inclined, for one thing, and a bit more morally ambiguous. also looks different), and this is kind of like her current form? she's my oldest and dearest, even if she doesn't get as much attention as she used to.

majority of them are fairly sarcastic to some extent, I believe? this one wasn't done on purpose lol, it's mostly just bc I'm sarcastic and it bleeds out into my speech/writing. as far as personalities go... I really like dynamic types with a clear "they started as X but grew into Y over the course of blah blah blah" sort of thing? which I guess the vast majority of characters have in general, but character arcs. yum.

also a very big fan of characters who were bad in some way, realize it, and actively try to be better. which kind of ties into the above, ig? I just love heel realizations and "I want to do better than I've done before" moments. I wouldn't say all of my OCs have that by any means, but it's popped up frequently.

also x2, the LGBTs. no cishets in my imaginary playground bc I am simply uninterested in that.

44. Something you like about your OCs in general

well, I already said that whole "trying to be better" thing, so that's out. I think I like how much they can surprise me? I learn new things about their personalities and stories all the time, and it's fun! sometimes it goes in a different direction than what I originally had planned, but that's part of the appeal for me. it makes them feel more real.

our life: beginnings & always is a visual novel, but it's a slice-of-life game in which you can befriend and potentially romance the boy next door, while exploring life's twists, emotions, and gender & sexual identity. will always highly recommend it.

as for IFs, obligatory disclaimer that I haven't been reading too many these days, and the ones that I do are still in progress. and I'm not sure what sort of story you're looking for, but these cover a range of dark fantasy, vampire western, cybernoir, and scifi, and the MCs are gender selectable with most if not all including customizable pronouns.

wayfarer - play as a mercenary with magic immunity in a magical world, taking a contract that leads to a winding journey. not a romance game but does include romance options through the episodes.

shepherds of haven - play as a mage in a world where magic is illegal. some of the romances are conditional; check out the IF's character page if you're curious about options.

the exile - play as an exiled commander who was once a revered leader and now shunned, haunted by their past and the struggles inside of them.

larkin - play as a traveling scheme-runner and vampire hunter who takes refuge in the small town of larkin and stumbles into the role as its preacher, navigating the cryptic community around you.
