Okay, listen, when he met you, he instantly forgot about Ayako. He doesn't care anymore.

He was the one person that you suddenly started seeing on the corridor 'randomly' (he was running through the whole school just to see you, even though you never spoke before).

When Hanamichi found out about the fact that he's literally smitten over you, he made a meeting with the team just to help Ryota out with making his first move lmao.

They ended up inviting you to their practice to make him talk to you because he was scared that you wouldn't even talk to him in the first place.

He was quickly surprised because you got along really well with each other.

You quickly started dating, and he treats you like a princess.

He likes to joke around from time to time. But if he ever hears someone joking about you, Better run.

Holds your hand EVERYWHERE.

He's a teenager, but this one kind is really mature. He even invited you over to a dinner at his place to meet his parents and sisters.

His family loves youuuu.

He started inviting you over more often after that; he ends up at his practice, takes your hand, and leads you to his house.

His mom shows you albums with his pictures, and he has to literally drag you away to spend time with you. You're a part of the family at this point.

He cuddles with you in his room until you have to go home. He'll escort you right to your house.

Sometimes, when you're bored, you and his sisters make him a makeover and watch movies.

He may be mature, but he's a jealous boy. When he sees you talk to any boy, he'll walk over to you, hug you from behind, put his head on your shoulder, and stare at the poor guy. You have to explain to him that the guy was your classmate, but he shushes you with a kiss.

If we speak about kisses, He can't really kiss you when you're over at his house because of his sisters and parents (who still give you quick peeks when no one watches), so he hides with you behind the gym sometimes to make out.

He'll be just kissing you there with a big grin on his face, checking if no one walks by from time to time.

You don't argue very often, but when you do, it's to the point that even his parents are worried about your relationship.

If the fight was his fault, he'll buy you flowers. Be 100% sure about that.

If it was your fault, though, he'd be just silent, sad, and distracted at his practices and matches, so please just apologise to this poor boy. He really craves it and is ready to forgive you.

Over all, 9/10, boyfriend.

Tezucomi magazine receives a 2 volume release in North America in 2024; will only include manga from European artists

Tezucomi manga magazine will receive a 2 volume North American release through Magnetic Press; it will only include the European manga that were included in the original release from Japan.

Tezucomi Volume 1 is set to release on February 13, 2024, while Volume 2 will release on March 12, 2024.

These releases came about from a successful Kickstarter from Neurobellum Productions!

Tezucomi was an Osamu Tezuka anthology magazine containing manga drawn from comic/manga artists around the world. It began in 2018 and ran for 18 volumes.

Miho Nakano in Princess From the Moon (Kon Ichikawa, 1987)

In eighth-century Japan, a man (Toshiro Mifune) and his wife (Ayako Wakao) are mourning the death of their 5-year-old daughter, Kaya. They live beside a forest of bamboo, whose stalks the man cuts and turns into baskets and other artifacts, which he sells to make a living. One night they see a bright light and their hut is shaken by a huge tremor. The next morning, when the man goes out to investigate he finds near his daughter's grave a large egg-shaped object. It begins to crack open and as he watches, a baby crawls from it and begins to grow rapidly until it assumes the form of his dead child (Miho Nakano). The man and his wife raise the girl as their daughter, Kaya, and discover that the egg-shaped object from which she emerged is pure gold, so they become rich enough to move into a large house. Kaya swiftly grows into a young woman (Yasuko Sawaguchi) whose beauty attracts high-born suitors. But she has brought with her a small crystal ball that eventually reveals her secret: She is from the moon, the sole survivor when the ship that was carrying her crashed. To ward off her suitors, she proposes impossible tasks to win her hand. And then the ball reveals that at the next full moon, a ship will arrive to carry her home. The entire realm has fallen in love with Kaya, and on the night of the full moon, troops are stationed about the house to shoot down any arriving ships. Up to this point, Kon Ichikawa's Princess From the Moon has been a charmingly magical fantasy film, a smart adaptation of an ancient Japanese folktale, The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, with beautiful sets by Shinobu Muraki, costumes by Emi Wada, and color cinematography by Setsuo Kobayashi. But suddenly Ichikawa imposes on the setting a spaceship out of Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Steven Spielberg, 1977), and Kaya is drawn up into it in flowing robes and accompanied by what appear to be glowing cherubs, an image that recalls Renaissance paintings of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, like this one by Rubens:

It's a startling shift in tone and technique, to say the least, especially when compounded by the insertion of a pop song, "Stay With Me," by Peter Cetera behind the end credits. Critics, too, were jarred by the overlaying of a sci-fi trope on a traditional tale, but audiences seemed to like it. A somewhat more traditional version of the story, The Tale of the Princess Kagya (Isao Takahata, 2013), was produced by Studio Ghibli and was nominated for the animated feature Oscar.

Mitsuzuri always believed that a girl should be as beautiful as she is strong, the discipline and refinement of one’s body would bring the best qualities of a girl would follow naturally. After all, a woman should be flexible like bamboo yet strong and unyielding. That was why she picked archery – Ayako would excel at most physical activities so she picked the one she was lacking the most in order to challenge herself and become even stronger or at least closer to attain the desirable traits. Before she knew it, she became the captain of the archery club even if she wasn’t the best shooter (that honor belonged to her rival, someone who had left the club) and had a responsibility to become even better for the official competitions. When Ayako brought it in a casual conversation to that guy he suggested that it would be the best if she talked to their teacher, Fujimura-sensei, who was also the one responsible overseeing the archery range. According to him, Fujimura was part of some sort of underground cadre controlling every aspect of Fuyuki City and if she couldn’t do it, she had the right contacts. At the time Ayako laughed it off as typical Emiya humor, the guy could be pretty snarky when it came to that particular teacher despite being a very polite guy. Yet, to Ayako’s surprise, Fujimura knew someone who knew someone so they arranged for Ayako to go to an actual dojo for instructions.  To learn more about the actual history of the kyodo, the techniques that are exclusive to proper dojos, to work out on the possible flaws in her posture and release, the meditation – that sort of thing that are usually overlooked in clubs.  Just to think that she would have the opportunity of learning all that whilst having to represent her school made her stomach churn. She was nowhere as good as Emiya, or graceful as Sakura. Who knows how many favors the adults had to ask and how many connections where used ? Ayako would have to impress and show how capable she was, secretly hoping that the master wasn’t too old and somewhat lenient towards amateurs like herself. The girl was so nervous about causing the wrong impression that she barely relaxed on the days preceding the travel !

Thankfully her walk from the station to the dojo proved somewhat relaxing, spending some of her anxiety walking helped calm herself down. 「 Calm down. That’s not like myself, geez. I need to just do my best and see what I can do. I’m here to learn, right ? 」 she told herself, the usually assertive captain kept putting herself in the right headspace before getting swept away by the beauty of the neighborhood. Certain areas of Mount Miyama were certainly very traditional, but that area was certainly breathtaking �� was that because she was used to her hometown and a different location felt “special” or was it downright special ? Ayako decided it might be the later, at least to her inexperienced self.

Ayako had barely waited for a moment in the doorstep of the dojo when a beautiful girl came to welcome her – she was like a princess of a traditional tale to her, making Mitsuzuri feel a little inadequate in her black trousers and discreet white blouse with frills in the bottom hem – her traditional outfit was carefully placed inside her backpack, her bow also carefully attached to it. ❝ Thank you for having me, Yaguchi-san. ❞ with her hand in front of her body, Ayako performed her best saikeirei. ❝ I appreciate you taking your time. ❞ she wasn’t someone who was too keen on all the intricacies of being polite, hopefully she wasn’t making a complete fool of herself. ❝ Uh, sure. ❞ paying mind to the warning about the stones, she was still in awe about everything, watching the beautiful garden carefully landscaped and the peaceful atmosphere ❝ … It is almost like being in a movie. ❞ she commented, unable to withhold her impressions any longer.

Argh ! She knew she messed up ! ❝ Oh ! Right. I'm Ayako Mitsuzuri, captain of the kyudo club of the Homurahara Academy in Fuyuki. Nice to meet'ya. Please take good care of me. ❞

The formal dan system of kyudo ranking, in the eyes of Shinobu's father, was outdated. An overreliance on spiritualism kept otherwise capable practitioners stuck at lower ranks, while old men with bodies far too frail to keep up rested upon their laurels in the high ranks. Unfortunately, the All Nippon Kyudo Federation still held a great deal of institutional power, and their rules and regulations needed obeying, regardless of one's personal opinion. In order to be a qualified owner of a dojo, especially one with the history of the Yaguchi Dojo, a person would need to attain the rank of renshi, which itself required being a 5-dan.

To that end, Shinobu had jumped through the Federations' inane hoops, gaining rank after rank in pursuit of eligibility. As the dojo's heir, it would be unbecoming of them to falter or stagnate, and though a higher rank held no interest for Shinobu, they needed to be prepared to inherit the dojo whenever that day came. She found the examinations rather unpleasant, elderly fools fawning over her for her sense of filial piety, and her dedication towards carrying a traditional art into the future.

At least there was no further need to attend after reaching her desired ranks. Of course, the additional workload hardly ended there, for once she'd reached her instructor's rank, it was ethically permissible for Shinobu to teach. Though the Yaguchi Dojo had few students besides herself, her father's relationships with other members of the community often led to others taking advantage of the dojo's amenities, or dropping by for short-term instruction. Rather troublesome.

Today was such a day, with Shinobu's father having ordered them to be a gracious host towards a young woman coming to visit from a nearby high school. The specifics weren't conveyed to her - they seldom were - but that mattered little, she supposed. She would arrive, be shown to the dojo, and allowed to practice as she liked. If instruction was required, or desired, Shinobu would make their assessments. Working with other people was hardly her strength, but if it was necessary in her role as the dojo's heir, so be it.

Still, if her father was to leave for the day, entrusting the matter to her, Shinobu would dress as she liked, rather than the drab neutral-colored samue, or training wear, with face bare and hair tied back. Instead, she greeted the young woman at the large estate's front gate in a black kimono, decorated with red spider lilies, dark eyeliner encircling her eyes, a red color painted over her lips, and her hair down with earrings dangling at either side. Her suits and menswear were unsuited to archery, but a kimono maintained the traditional aesthetic and wasn't unacceptable in exhibitions.

"Good afternoon. You must be Miss Mitsuzuri." As her father had said, they were likely quite close in age. "My name is Shinobu Yaguchi. I'm this dojo's heir, and I'll accompany you today." Beyond that, there was little to say about herself. "Please watch your step on the pathway. It's uneven, and it would be a waste to have come here were you to trip and injure yourself." After setting the gate to close, Shinobu turned, walking along the stones in zori sandals in practiced stride without issue. "The dojo is on the other side of the estate, but it isn't a long walk." From their position by the gate, the winding stone path passed a large koi pond and a picturesque zen garden, with the long dojo building pressed against the far end of the estate's walls.

Again, an internal man! That's true... Kiryu bringing up the cold noodles, Adachi describing his hobbies, Kiryu and Nishiki being surprised Majima beat Wagi...

nishiki deserves to have a moment of being portrayed as competent for once by organising informal dinner for his bros. :)

I definitely think that of the three of them, Nishiki is most likely to do this and have the foresight to think of options that would suit their preferences (I have to believe Wagi eats things other than cold noodle bowls o_o like one bowl a day minimum but he can have some flexibility depending on his mood). Nishiki is the socially adept guy, he knew to get a gift for Yumi while Reina had to remind Kiryu, he is so underrated and I love this idea for that :3 What I like about the Majima one is that Majima is having the WORST time in Y0 and it'd be neat to see Wagi awkwardly offer a moment of kindness to him.

i still just can't believe everyone who finished the game saw that scene and then only like three or four people started writing about them together LOL

it ties in really well to the sort of recurring motif i see through his life that the only time he's allowed to be truly happy with himself and his place in the world is after his "death" and recovery. kazama is a very complicated character to think about when it comes to his motivations and his relationships with the people he's close with - i don't think he's very good at prioritising his emotional investments (nishiki being the obvious example, but also the way he doesn't send any letters to kiryu in jail until the last day before his parole), so to add an extra layer of tragedy to the whole thing i like to think that he hadn't been making as much time for kashiwagi towards the end than he maybe could have been. not in a premeditated disloyalty sense, of course, but he's got his hands more than full with the whole embezzling 10 billion yen from the tojo coffers gambit... kashiwagi being the way he is though would be all the more desperate for reconciliation, and to then not get it before kazama kicks it would be the icing on the shit cake

but yeah KNOWING adachi was in the building with everyone else must have been like reliving his second-worst nightmare... meeting this man he thought he'd be able to settle down with for the first time in sixty odd years but still constantly having to worry after him. i still adore no idling as an exploration of those feelings after the fact & i find myself coming back to it an awful lot as someone who doesn't generally read fiction more than once or twice unless i'm trying to find something specific (if you may allow me my nerd moment)

it's something i would love to explore more myself, but i don't really feel i have the means to do it in a way in which i'd enjoy the end product... but i suppose that's what commissions are for!

ANYWAY, apparently, everyone kiryu meets in his side story gives him some kind of reward, and i'm having A Time thinking about what he might get from kashiwagi. i'm trying not to set myself up to be disappointed by what happens, but there's a big part of me that hopes kashiwagi pulls "suzuki" to the side and leaves whoever else on the bar for a while so they get a chance to actually catch up. i think at this point both of them really need something like that, because i doubt there's any way kashiwagi didn't get the news that kiryu "died" in 2016

the other big thing that's got me physically shaking is the idea they might finally namedrop him. and uuhhh if they still let us karaoke at survive then i hope judgement gets its own cinematic. : )
