Western Australia New Visa Updates For Overseas Workers!
Applicants interested in the Western Australia (WA) skilled immigration visas have a lot to look forward to: the WA government headed by Premier Mark McGowan recently announced that it will cut red tape in an attempt to fix WA’s skilled job crisis.
As WA’s unemployment rate dropped to an all-time low this August, many industries faced and publicly decried the lack of workers to meet an uptick in demand. Popular restaurants, short on servers, chefs and managers, even had to turn away hundreds of customers. In response to the increased demand outpacing the supply of labour, the McGowan government announced a slew of measures to attract more skilled workers and support local industries.
In an update to Western Australian skilled migration news, over 100 occupations have been added to the WA skilled occupation list, bringing the total to more than 300, increasing the list by nearly 60% compared to the previous year. This list includes occupations for workers in the healthcare, construction, manufacturing, and tourism industries. It even includes hairdressers, driving instructors, panel beaters and butchers.
Minimum visa requirements for foreign workers are set by the Federal Government of Australia which oversees the list of eligible occupations. Thereafter, states, such as WA select jobs on that list to include in their own State Nominated Migration Program, which provides applicants with bonuses in the points-based system used by the Department of Home Affairs to approve visas.
WA received 8,140 places for 2022–23, 4,950 more places than the previous year and the third largest allocation overall, after New South Wales and Victoria.
The McGowan government also complimented the substantial increase in the occupation list with changes to the State nomination criteria by providing temporary relaxations such as:
Waiving the $200 application fee
Reducing the requirement to have an employment contract from 12 months to six months
Easing the requirements for applicants to demonstrate “sufficient funds” by doing away with the need to show $20,000 in their bank accounts
Removing additional English requirements for professional and manager occupations
Reducing work experience requirements for the 2022-23 program year to attract more skilled workers to WA
The WA government also announced it aims to allocate nearly $4 million on short-term programs which will help foreign students in developing hospitality and tourism skills. These measures further support the McGowan policies to attract skilled migrants such as its decision in July to launch the new Skilled Migrant Employment Register which connects skilled migrants to state jobs.

..."I was born right before Australia — the "most successful multicultural society" in the world — elected Pauline Hanson to federal parliament, where she used her maiden speech to declare: "I believe we are in danger of being swamped by Asians."
But even before that, Australian migration policy was never truly welcoming to people who aren't white. There was the 1855 decision to impose a tax on Chinese migrants entering Victoria. The White Australia Policy made it difficult for non-European migrants to enter Australia from 1901 to the '70s. And since the 1970s, migrants from Asia, the Middle East, and Africa have continued to face racism.
People from migrant communities, like my parents, have succeeded in the 20th century in spite of the various hoops they had to jump through to call this place home. Many of their peers have toiled away, but not experienced the same success.
But it may be even more difficult now for migrants to achieve what my parents and others have.
My partner — who has lived in Australia for almost a decade, while working and studying for multiple university degrees — still doesn't know if she'll be able to live here long term. Many of our friends are in a similar situation.
Migrants can live and work in Australia for decades and still be uncertain about whether they'll ever be able to make a permanent home. There are some 12,000 asylum seekers in Australia with no permanent rights to work or study, while offshore processing still has bipartisan government support. And a 2021 study found three in four international students were being paid below minimum casual wages by their employers.
Meanwhile, migrants with disabilities or health conditions continue to be denied visas and permanent residency under the Migration Act's health requirement.
We are wanted for our cheap labour and interesting food, but we are still not fully welcome.
I won't be grateful while Australia continues to market itself as a welcoming country when in reality our policies tell migrants and refugees that we do not belong."...

Australia Wants To Attract the World’s Best? Make It Easier to Migrate
A few years ago, an Indian photographer friend living in Malaysia was flying to Fiji on assignment. He opted to fly through Sydney with a five-hour stopover, enough time, he reckoned, to get the train in to Circular Quay and drink a cold beer at the Opera Bar while marvelling at the Harbour Bridge.
But he never even got close, as he was prevented from even boarding his flight. He found out, at the airport desk in Kuala Lumpur, that his Indian passport meant he needed a visa simply to transit through Sydney. Forget the Quay, he needed the visa just to disembark the plane at the airport.
The experience didn’t just set his project back a few days and disadvantage the rest of the crew on the assignment, it left a seriously sour taste in the mouth of exactly the kind of globally well-connected professional that Australia should be trying to woo. When I asked other friends, I found it a common experience. Another Indian friend had been barred from boarding the flight to go to her own wedding in Auckland.
As far as case studies go, I admit that these ones aren’t particularly egregious, not when compared to some of the more difficult issues faced by those trying to enter Australia to work and set up their lives anew. But it’s an experience that shines a blinding light on a couple of things.
Tumblr media

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the strict border controls that came with it, Australia right now has more jobs than it has a ready pool of skilled and available people to fill them. The government has been working to clear the visa backlog – down to 775,000, down from a million, it says, and this, along with the expansion of the Pacific worker scheme, shows a commitment to resolving the issue.
So why is it still so hard to get permanency?
Visa seekers speak of waiting five or six years, sometimes longer, to gain permanent residency in Australia. This makes it hard to live a normal life. I have a permanent visa-seeking friend right now trying to get to the United States for a business trip: the US wants a commitment from Australia that she will return here, but Australia is yet to grant her the right to stay. It’s properly a scene from Utopia.
People also speak of extremely expensive, long-winded and fraught quests to gain parent visas. Home Affairs says the waiting time for the parent visa is currently at least 74 months; and a migration agency estimated the total cost at more than $43,000. I’ve heard anecdotally of some spending closer to $100,000.

Australia has, at least since the Tampa standoff in 2001, used its visa program to signal its values. Business visas take precedence, signalling Australia’s dominant value of economic growth. Family visas have always – at least since I started taking notice, when I started at my first reporting job at SBS – been a category that a sceptical public (and consequently, government) has considered to be an unnecessary burden, a fast-track to overstaying and Medicare fraud. Australia requires passport holders from undesirable countries to submit to expensive and sometimes fraught visitor visa processes, even simply for an airport stopover.

Why Migrate to Australia?
• Job Prospects: In Australia, the job market is great, especially for IT professionals, engineering, health, and construction fields.

Popular Immigration Routes from India to Australia
   a. Skilled Migration Visas
In cases where people have the educational background and work experience that meets the demands of the workforce of Australia, the Australian government issues skilled visas. Common skilled migration visas are:
The subclass 189 is a Skilled Independent Visa for workers who are not sponsored by an employer or any family member and are eligible to apply for a points-tested visa.
The subclass 190 requires nomination by a state or territory of Australia.
The subclass 491 provides a pathway to PR for skilled migrant workers who want to reside and work in regional Australia.
b. Family and Partner Visas
The family visa class would include, amongst others, the Partner Visa-Subclass 820 and 801, Parent Visas-Subclass 103 and 143, for which sponsorship may be granted to spouses, parents, and children of Australian citizens or permanent residents.
c. Student Visa
The Student Visa Subclass 500 is best suited for people who wish to apply for a course of study in Australia. It allows individuals to complete their studies and apply for work visas upon graduation, which may lead to permanent residency opportunities afterwards.
Australian Migration Eligibility Criteria
Age: The usual maximum age limit for a skilled visa is 45 years.
Occupation List: The occupation should be on the Skilled Occupation List of Australia, popularly referred to as SOL which is updated regularly under demand.
Skill Assessment: The skilled migrant needs to get a positive skill assessment in his/her occupation by an assessing authority that is authorized
English Proficiency: He/she should be in a position to prove proficiency in English on IELTS or PTE
Health and Character Requirement: The applicant must meet the health and character requirements of all.

Step-by-Step Process to Migrate to Australia from India
Step 1: Choose the Right Visa Type
Select the class of visa that best suits your goal and profile. Go through every category of visa and if needed, take professional advice from migration experts.
Step 2: Check Points Score (For Skilled Migration)
There is an allocation of points for age, education, work experience, and proficiency in language among other things. There is always a minimum of 65 points required.
Step 3: Competency Assessment
Arrange credentials and experience and forward an application to any assessing body. Engineers Australia or the Australian Computer Society for IT Professionals will be able to help you through with an application.
Step 4: Expression of Interest Lodgement
SkillSelect will allow you to lodge an EOI, which includes the name of your occupation and points score, among other details that are uploaded with the application. Following the fact that the Australian government has looked at the EOIs, high-scoring applicants will have invitations extended to them.
Step 5: Visa Application and Invitation to Apply Acceptance
Apply for the visa within 60 days of getting the invitation with the required documents on work experience, police clearance, and medical history.
Step 6: Waiting Time
Skilled working visas take several months to get approved. Therefore, the applicant has to make sure all the documents are appropriate so that he/she is not faced with any delays.
Time taken to process and wait
This time to process greatly varies depending on the type of visa applied for. Average time:
• Skilled Visas: 8 to 18 months
• Employer-Sponsored Visas: 5 to 10 months
• Family and Partner Visas: 10 to 24 months
Tips: Ensure the documents presented are complete and accurate, as incomplete information will result in useless delays.
Tips for a Successful Australian Migration Application
• Improve Points Score: Higher scores give a greater chance of receiving an invitation. Consider submitting an application for state nomination, increasing work experience, or improving your English language competency.
• Choose Regional Areas: More skilled labourers are needed in these areas. Application for a regional visa increases the possibility of invitation.
• Consult Professionals: Convey complicated eligibility criteria and visa opportunities with the help of migration agents or consultants, in which nothing is left behind.

Moving to Australia from Dubai: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
The idea of moving to Australia from Dubai is an exciting prospect for many residents of the UAE who seek a new lifestyle, better opportunities, or even a change of scenery. With its diverse landscapes, strong economy, high quality of life, and robust healthcare system, Australia has become an attractive destination for people around the world. However, the process of relocating to another country is complex and involves several important factors that should be considered before taking the plunge. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at what it means to move to Australia from Dubai, the necessary preparations, and some tips to help you make your transition smooth and successful.
Why Move to Australia from Dubai?
High Quality of Life: Australia is consistently ranked among the top countries in the world for its standard of living. Cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth boast excellent public services, green spaces, and modern infrastructure. The work-life balance in Australia tends to be better than in many countries, including Dubai, with many employees enjoying flexible working hours and more paid time off.
Education and Healthcare: Australia offers some of the best education facilities in the world, making it an attractive destination for families. The healthcare system in Australia is also highly regarded. It combines both public (Medicare) and private healthcare services, providing residents with access to high-quality medical care at reasonable costs.
Job Opportunities: Australia’s strong economy is another key reason people choose to move to Australia from Dubai. With industries such as healthcare, construction, information technology, and engineering in high demand, there are numerous job opportunities for skilled professionals.
Cultural Diversity: Australia is known for being one of the most multicultural nations in the world. People from all over the globe have made Australia their home, creating a welcoming environment for new immigrants, including those moving to Australia from Dubai. You will find communities from many countries, including a growing number of Middle Eastern expatriates, especially in larger cities.
Immigration Pathways for Moving to Australia from Dubai
The Australian government offers several visa options for individuals looking to migrate from Dubai. These include skilled migration visas, family visas, and student visas, among others. Choosing the right visa depends on your situation, qualifications, and long-term plans.
Skilled Migration Visas: This is one of the most common routes for professionals moving to Australia from Dubai. The Australian government runs a Skilled Migration program that allows skilled workers to migrate based on their qualifications, work experience, and English language proficiency. The most popular visa under this category is the Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189), which is a permanent residency visa for individuals who do not require sponsorship from an employer or family member.
Employer-Sponsored Visas: If you have a job offer from an Australian employer, you may be eligible for a Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (subclass 482) or Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (subclass 186). These visas require the employer to sponsor your application and demonstrate that they are unable to find a suitable local candidate for the role.
Family Visas: If you have close family members who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, they may be able to sponsor you to move to Australia from Dubai. Family visas include partner visas, parent visas, and child visas, which provide a pathway to reunite with family members living in Australia.
Student Visas: Many people choose to move to Australia from Dubai to further their education. Australia’s student visa (subclass 500) allows international students to study at approved educational institutions while living in the country. After completing your studies, you may also be eligible to apply for a temporary graduate visa, which allows you to live and work in Australia for a limited time.
Preparations Before Moving to Australia from Dubai
Moving to Australia from Dubai requires detailed planning and preparation. Here are some of the most important aspects you should consider before making the move:
Financial Planning: Australia has a relatively high cost of living, especially in major cities like Sydney and Melbourne. Before moving, it’s crucial to have a clear understanding of your financial situation, including savings, potential income, and the cost of living in the area where you plan to settle. Expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, and healthcare should be factored into your budget.
Housing: Finding a place to live is one of the first things to arrange when moving to Australia from Dubai. It’s advisable to do thorough research on rental prices, neighborhoods, and housing availability. Most expatriates choose to rent homes or apartments initially before deciding whether to purchase property later on.
Healthcare and Insurance: While Medicare provides access to healthcare for residents and citizens, it’s a good idea to have private health insurance, especially when you first arrive. Private health coverage can help with additional costs that are not covered by Medicare, such as dental and specialist services.
Education for Children: If you’re moving to Australia from Dubai with children, researching schools should be a priority. Australia has a variety of public and private schools that cater to children of all ages. Most schools require early registration, so it’s important to look into this before your move.
Visa and Documentation: Ensure that you have the right visa for your situation. Gather all necessary documentation well in advance, including educational qualifications, employment records, and financial statements. Also, consider the time it takes for visas to be processed, which can vary depending on the type of visa and your specific circumstances.
Settling Down in Australia
Once you have arrived in Australia, it’s important to take steps to settle into your new environment. Start by familiarizing yourself with local customs, finding community groups that can help with the transition, and understanding Australian laws and regulations. Networking is also key to building connections and finding employment opportunities.
While moving to Australia from Dubai can be challenging, with careful planning, the rewards can be immense. Whether you’re seeking better career prospects, a higher quality of life, or a safe and supportive environment for your family, Australia offers countless opportunities for personal and professional growth.
In conclusion, moving to Australia from Dubai can be a life-changing experience. The process may seem daunting at first, but with the right preparation, research, and determination, it can lead to a successful transition into a new chapter of life.

If you’re considering making Australia your long-term home, applying for an Australia Permanent Residency (PR) visa is a significant step. In this article, we will explore the different pathways to obtaining permanent residency in Australia and the benefits it brings.
What is an Australia Permanent Residency Visa?
An Australia Permanent Residency visa grants non-citizens the right to live, work, and study in Australia indefinitely. With a PR visa, you are entitled to many of the rights and benefits enjoyed by Australian citizens, such as access to Medicare (Australia’s healthcare system), the ability to sponsor family members for PR, and potential pathways to citizenship.
Why Choose Australia for Permanent Residency?

Eligibility Pathways for an Australia Permanent Residency Visa
There are several visa subclasses under which you can apply for permanent residency. Each category is designed for different individuals based on their skills, family relations, or humanitarian needs.
Skilled Migration VisasThe General Skilled Migration (GSM) program is one of the most popular pathways to PR. It includes:

Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated Visa): Similar to the 189 visa, but requires nomination by an Australian state or territory government. Applicants may receive additional points for state nomination.
Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional Visa): A provisional visa leading to PR after working and living in a designated regional area.
Family-Sponsored VisasIndividuals with close family members living in Australia as citizens or permanent residents can apply under family-sponsored visa subclasses. These include:

Parent Visa: Available for parents of Australian citizens or PR holders, though there may be waiting periods.
Child Visa: For dependent children of Australian citizens or PR holders.

Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme Visa): For workers nominated by employers in regional Australia.
Business and Investment VisasEntrepreneurs and investors may also apply for PR through the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP). This program allows individuals who wish to invest in Australia or establish businesses to gain permanent residency.

Visa Application SubmissionOnce you receive an invitation to apply, submit your full visa application along with the required fees. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and complete to avoid delays.
Health and Character ChecksAll applicants must pass health examinations and provide police clearance certificates to meet Australia’s health and character requirements.
Visa OutcomeAfter your application is processed, you will receive an outcome from the Department of Home Affairs. If successful, you’ll be granted permanent residency and can begin your journey to making Australia your new home.

How to Choose the Right Sydney Migration Consultancy

Registered Migration Agents
Ensure the consultancy is licensed and employs registered migration agents (RMAs) who are registered with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA). RMAs are legally allowed to provide immigration advice and are required to adhere to a code of conduct.
Experience and Track Record
Look for migration consultancies with a proven track record of success in handling cases similar to yours. Whether you’re applying for a skilled visa, family visa, or business visa, it’s important to choose a consultancy with relevant experience and a high success rate.
Personalized Service
Every visa application is different, and a one-size-fits-all approach won’t work. Choose a consultancy that offers personalized service, taking the time to understand your situation and provide tailored advice.
Transparent Fees
The visa application process can be expensive, so it’s essential to choose a consultancy that offers clear and transparent pricing. Avoid agencies that offer unrealistically low prices, as this may indicate hidden fees or lack of expertise.
Positive Client Reviews
Client reviews and testimonials are a great way to gauge the quality of a migration consultancy’s services. Look for feedback from previous clients to determine if the consultancy is reliable, responsive, and successful in securing visas.
