Beautiful but deceiving! First quarry dive was really tough with low visibility. Freaked me out a bIt. We didn’t go beyond the first orange buoy for the first dive, just got acclimated to the wtf of not being able to see two feet in front of you.

Second dive was much better after a lot of the other groups had moved on and less sediment was kicked up. We went further out and a sunken van, a semi, and an airplane! And most importantly A FISH! Willow Springs has a neat underwater system of ropes leading from landmark to landmark so that was super helpful Dealt with some ear pain, buoyancy issues and got briefly separated when Id let go of my beloved rope. However: I gotta say, my instructor is SO kind and patient and came and found me after I surfaced at one of the rock buoys (if you can’t find your buddies, protocol is to look for a minute then surface). Both of the other men were super sweet and understanding in helping me stay oriented and with the group- grabbing shoulders or fins when I was confused. Overall a great learning experience, even if I left the first dive QUITE apprehensive.

Both dives today were much smoother, though still a bit low visibility. HOWEVER I got to see the famous sunken school bus and high five its skeleton driver. We explored several sunken boats, the van again, but never did find the torpedo despite the rope highways. I even got brave enough to go at the front of the group a few times! No ear pain today either. Willow Springs was certainly full of lessons. Great chance to push myself (not my ears though) and work outside my comfort zone. The water is so very quiet, and learning to communicate effectively was eye opening. My brain quiets ASTOUNDINGLY as well. Could only listen to my breathing and focus on the task at hand- follow the rope/stay with the others. It was alien and lovely.

I will not go back though lmao. While this was great for training and now I’ll be more comfortable with night dives/low vis, I want to LOOMK. Looking forward to Palm Beach in the fall, where I’ll be with my favorite diver and able to SEE and see FISH. For now, I am on the heating pad watching Blue Planet. 🤣

An absolute highlight of the jubilee week for “Unter Uns” (starting November 25th on RTL and a week earlier on TVNow) is the gay dream wedding of #Ringsy alias Ringo and Easy (Timothy Boldt and Lars Steinhöfel).

Fans can look forward to being part of a wonderful wedding party. And: With classical weddings (most of the times) it’s a happy ending, this marriage reception, knowing both of them and their story, only the beginning of boiling passion - so to speak a happy beginning. Including a highly emotional drama! RTL spoke with Lars Steinhöfel and Timothy Boldt about the shooting, about homosexual couples on TV, Lars’ private wedding plans and a lot of other things.

How was your show-dream wedding? Lars: It was a real highlight, having been able to shoot this wedding to this extent. We had everything: location, equipment, flowers, we couldn’t ahve had more. All in all it was a real storybook wedding with the right mixture of kitsch and coolness.

Timothy: We noticed that this wedding has gotten a particularly huge attention. The whole team was really in it. When you ask me, you can see that on the screen. For me, it was a really exhausting and intense week, but I’m proud of the result.

25 years of “Unter Uns”: How do you explain the success of the show? Lars: People, who started with episode one, are still watching, because characters are starting to grow on you and the stories are diveres and attract new viewers. You can watch your show favorites turn into an adult.

Timothy: True. We show three, sometimes four generations, family is a big part of it. There aren’t any multi millionaires or royals, but many different characters with their heart in the right place in the Schillerallee.

A lot of huge emotions? Lars: That’s bound to happen with such an event. When everything’s decorated and you play a wedding in a castle, my heart jumps a little.

Timothy: Same. Ringo doesn’t really weep easily otherwise, but for this occasion I’ve allowed him to cry one or two happy tears.

Lars: You’ve cried your eyes out.

Timothy: (laughs) True, but so did you!

You had a very extravagant outdoor shooting, what was special about it? Timothy: We had an alpaca, that was a first for me on set. And another thing that was new, was, that we were shooting at night.

Lars: Yes, our shooting place, a castle, wasn’t available to us indefinitely. Meaning, the already elaborate story had to be shot until deadline. A huge effort, that we as a team managed to pull off very well.

Lars, was your partner Dominik jealous, when you “married” another man? Lars: No, my partner can separate private and business very well... Also Dominik knows that he’s the one for me!

Was he there? Lars: No, sadly Dominik had to work - otherwise we could certainly arrange it.

How would you marry privately? Lars: Dominik and I have actually talked about it before and wish to marry in a small setting in Cape Town, on the beach, that would be nice... Other details stay secret until then...

Did you ever think, that #Ringsy would be so popular amongst fans? Lars: In fact, we couldn’t have possibly imagine the popularity of the story in our dreams. But it shows, that the topic homosexuality on TV is more relevant than ever, and also important for the viewer.

Timothy: I was totally surprised what kind of momentum this has gained. By now, I totally celebrate this and it’s ultimate proof for me that the chemistry between Lars and me is just right.

From which countries do you get fan mail and what do they write you? Timothy: I had an almost surreal experience I had some time back in Toronto. A young girl from Mexico talked to me, she was there on vacation too. I immediately posted an Insta-story with her, otherwise no one would’ve believed me.

Lars: In times of social media it’s a lot easier to connect with fans from all of the world, and it’s a lot more personal. We get messages from all of the world, and fans even go that far to subtitle our episode in English, so that more people can cheer on us.

What experiences have you had with your homosexual TV-partnership? Lars: The sexual reorientation of Easy brought new facets and possibilites to give Easy more exciting stories. Viewers had to adapt to it, but by now yo couldn’t imagine Easy without Ringo by his side.

Timothy: I can only say, that feedback isn’t mainly, but almost exlusively positive. I’d also like to pass the praise on to our authors, because they have a clear vision for #Ringsy and only serve clichés where it really fits.

So you don’t encounter disapproval? Timothy: We do. But mostly it’s about homosexual partnerships in general. I clearly distinguish that in two categories of critiques: The first one judges my performance as an actor. If an actor doesn’t buy my character’s love for another man, then I take that seriously and question it. But then there’s a second category, where it’s about the principle. Such viewers dislike homosexual couples in general, whether that be in “Unter Uns”, in “Modern Family”, or in the “Tagesschau”. I don’t take that seriously, because it has nothing to do with me then.

Lars: You said that beautifully; I have nothing more to add.

Is it important, to show the story of two men who love each other, on TV? Timothy: I’d like to answer that very specifically. I get a significant number of letters from young people. Who despite Social Media, take the time to write down their life story. Who tell me, that they’ve struggled for years because of their sexual orientation. And then they write, that Ringo’s story is similar to their own, and that they totally felt what Ringo felt with his coming out. So yes, I think it’s important.

Lars: Many people are still uninformed about this topic. Especially in an environment where same-sex love is a taboo issue, a daily soap can only provide more tolerance.

Have you experienced homophobia yourself? Timothy: When people talk to me about my character, they often say: He’s gay. That’s rarely meant pejorative. Much more interesting is, that my character is actually bisexual, but that doesn’t seem to stick with people. Otherwise, I’d like to pass the question on to Lars.

Lars: Yes, I have, but I don’t really care about it. That might be, because I’m at peace with myself and publicly came out. With that I don’t want to downplay verbal attacks, because there are always people who get hurt by it. And when it comes to physical violence, I hope for civil courage and the full rigor of the law.

The fact that he also has a fondness for snapping to attention whenever a superiro comes by, and is a bit rickety makes one suspect North Korea was involved in some way. That said, he's not your sterotypical nerd. Suave, charismatic, ruthless, bit paranoid.... Kyu is one part hacker, one part cat manager, as having to run a department of IT personnel in a terrorist organization does tend to turn off the actually qualified people from turning up in person. LASER-VIPER LEADER:

Name: Adrian Townes Codename: Rytov DoB: April 28th, 1965 Former Affiliation: US Army Corps of Engineers ERADC Orientation- Homosexual Bio: Born into a family that had lasers in their blood, Townes was fascinated by them. In fact, he could say he was all but in love with them. Getting appointed to the Army Corps of Engineers was his dream, where he started looking at the applications of lasers on a smaller scale then his comrades. While they tinkered with making lasers able to shoot down Ivan's ICBMs, he looked at fitting them inside tanks, if not smaller. However, finding funding for laser armed tanks and such, even in the 80s was difficult, to say the least.  Matters were not helped considering that while he was incredibly gifted when it came to developing lasers, he was less then skilled at interacting with others, or with what he termed "Petty minded bureaucrats seeking only to further their own power". When the 90s came around, he found himself out of a job, the laser projects all being put into cold storage. Faced with the prospect of his life's work being left to rot in some musty filing cabinet, Adrian started making the rounds of the Pentagon's higher ups, as well as the GAO. His arguments, while very technically impressive and certainly promising quite a lot of things, well, were considerably out of touch with fiscal reality, as well as the political realities. Left fuming in a dead end post, mostly being spent watching over the laser projects in cold storage, Townes heard of Cobra's announcements, and decided this was the means to affect revenge, while also finally vindicating himself. The fact that, as an added bonus, he could likely turn his weapons against his hated rivals in the Pentagon was, in his mind, icing on the cake. Holding a grudge against the government and establishment that had tossed her aside so easily, Venus signed up with Sandline International. When that was shut down in the early 2000s, she signed up with MARS Industries, but didn't quite fit in. Her once jocular personality had turned acidic over the years, and while her skills hadn't degraded any, well..... There were certain topics one didn't bring up around her. Or in earshot. Or someplace gossip might reach her about it. So when Cobra started headhunting, HR for MARS pitched her over so fast it was a miracle she even realized what was happening. That said, she seemed to fit in like she'd been born for the role. Her skills, combined with a refusal to take shit from literally anyone, and backing up that stance with the threat of stranding them in the middle of the Arctic, buck naked, well, it got results. Name: Ro Yun-Soo Codename: Selkie DoB: November 18th, 1984 Former Affiliation: Republic of Korea Navy Special Warfare Flotilla Orientation: Asexual, formerly heterosexual Bio: Ro grew up in a small fishing village on Baengnyeongdo Island, the only child of a fisherman and his wife. A few years into her young life, her mother died from a North Korean artillery barrage, leading her father to bring her along on his fishing vessel to keep her safe. Name: Secondina Vespa Codename: Lemure DoB: December 12th, 1982 Former Affiliation: COMSUBIN Operational Raider Group Orientation: Bisexual Bio: Growing up in Sicily, Vespa learned to take crap from nobody, and that above all else, family came first. Unfortunately for her, this proved to be a dangerous combo when, years into her naval career, her brother was revealed to be a member of the infamous Motsi Mafia Clan. This naturally sank her career faster then a crash diving submarine, but thanks to her brother's career, some doors were opened up for her. Well, to be fair, depending on who you asked, he said he was going off to the cafe with some friends, and would be right back, or said something like "I gotta get out of town, they're after me man". That said, she wasn't stupid enough to be unprepared this time around, and on her way to the local airport, swung by the local Carabinieri ROS office to drop off a thick file of evidence for their perusal. Her bridges by now more then thoroughly torched, she fled to the Florida Keys, doing mercenary diving work for local OC. This came to the attention of a Cobra headhunter, who also saw that she had no quarrels with body alteration, or at least didn't totally read that employment contract well enough, and she was slated for the Moray program in no time at all. Name: Brad Thor Codename: Leviathan DoB: August 21, 1969 Former Affiliation: USMC Force Recon Orientation: Het, married to a Nitro-Viper. Bio: Once a Marine Force Recon captain, Thor ran into hard financial times. Desperate to earn money to pay off some debts, he made a deal with Destro. Unfortunately, Destro didn't show, but rather a NCIS team, who arrested him. While enroute to his new prison, he reached out to Cobra, and requested a job.
