grrrrr -I was really excited about this result I was proving for my thesis but then I realized it was actually super trivial.

I feel like one of those cartoon characters who is fishing and ecstatic to finally get a bite, strains with all their might to lurch it out of the water, and then discovers the bite was actually a measly minnow.

#I continue to be surprised about how the hardest aspect of research by far is coming up with a half decent question #One that actually invites innovation and insight. As opposed to either being trivial or intractable #research jeremiad #I'll get better at it with practice #Just gotta keep on fishing #Meanwhile this result will make a nice lemma #Which... calling it that does feel like I'm mounting the minnow on a plaque. But maybe my advisor will appreciate it all the same
