How long do you spend on your art pieces in general?
I know a lot of artists who will spend weeks working on pieces little by little, and then a whole other lot will sit down for a few hours and draw from start to finish . It's just interesting to find out little bits about people's art processes and how different it is for everyone
Have a lovely day!!
Nowadays? Mostly 2-4 hours per piece, so I can sit down and finish them during a single evening. That's the square and traditionally inked stuff you see pretty often from me :) the formats of both of these limit the complexity of what can fit in, so they naturally don't take that long. Most of my artfight pieces also fit into this, apart from few that got away from me and needed a second evening.
When I start getting more complicated (which isn't that often rn, because it takes a certain kind of energy), it can climb REALLY FAST. Ex.: this thing (https://copper-skulls.tumblr.com/post/726934739427147777/yeehawgust-28-gunsmoke-thats-him-the-guy) isn't even shaded or properly coloured and took 6-8 hours. For these the process usually is picking away at the sketch for few evenings, then lining in small chunks since lining these things is exhausting and hard on the wrist, and then I blow through the colouring in an evening since I very much fall into the Zone(TM) (Yes, I do the whole forgetting to eat during these, and can pull staying-up-till-2am if I'm not careful lol). A4 or similar (which is the ratio I tend to pick bcs it lends itself well for my usual compositions) can climb to 12+ hours very easily :D they can also live in my sketchbook as thumbnails or full pages of trying to figure them out for literal months before I buckle down to work on them lol.
Thank you anon! 💚
