side note, this fic is completely self indulgent because i know the usual shtick is ‘oh they protect you’ which of course nothing is wrong with that, but i also like it more when reader is also badass and can fight, so here we are!! pls enjoy 😊

HARUKA SAKURA

He had been sent to your home grounds on Umemiya’s orders, as a way to get to know the new gang in town. Rumors has it that this new gang is strong, and had a hand in orchestrating a raid on Zinc which has now left Zinc in a horrible position.

You already know how he feels about strength and what it means to be strong, so he would’ve checked it out by himself, but Umemiya had said to go with Suo and Nirei, and so here they are, about to cross over into your territory.

Once they pass the overhead bridge, he’s met with a school building, not all that bigger than Bofurin, with graffiti in some spots. On the front, there was a flag, a soft blue color with a sun, its rays moving in a spiral.

Sanshedo. Sun Shade. Interesting name, he thinks.

“Are you sure we can just waltz in here? Aren’t we gonna get in trouble if we just come in with no warning?” Asks Nirei, obviously shaking from the unfamiliar surroundings.

In Sakura’s opinion, who the hell cares? If it’s such a big issue, then this new gang can deal with it-

“Your friend is right, yknow? I could’ve said you were intruding and have our Head send a couple guys to deal with you three.”

He whisks around, taking in your features. From the style of boots you’re wearing to the look you’re giving him, Nirei, and Suo.

The very first thing he thinks, is pretty.

He blushes as soon as the thought comes to his mind.

“However, seeing the jackets you three have on, I’m not worried about starting problems. You guys are members of Bofurin, right? Windbreaker?”

He nods frantically, unsure as to why he’s so nervous. He’s not in a fight, and even when he is, all he feels is anticipation, only hints of nervousness, and excitement. Why is it different now?

Why is it so different with you?

He can feel Suo’s stare at his back, and he’d been inclined to look at him if it wasn’t for the way you just trapped him in place, unable to move.

“Cool hair, by the way. Also, Blondie, I like the clip and I like the earrings, eyepatch.”

“It’s Haruka Sakura, not just cool hair.”

But why did it feel so nice to hear that you think his hair is cool instead of weird or scary. What the hell is going on?

“Well, Haruka Sakura, the name’s L/N Y/N. Bofurin, welcome to Sanshedo.”

You throw your hands up to showcase the school behind you, the symbol of Sanshedo, god he needs to remember the name, shown on the back of your jacket.

“Also, I hear you’re strong, Sakura. Care for a friendly fight?” A sly grin makes its way on your face, and he can feel his lips curl up into a smile.

“You’re on, L/N.”

Somehow, this new gang doesn’t seem to be half bad after all.

HAYATO SUO

Hayato Suo has always been the type to play with his food. Not in a literal sense per se, but when it comes to fights.

He is very much intrigued when he sees you, very much multiple knuckles deep in a fight. The way you fought them was so mesmerizing to him, how you moved was so fluid and graceful.

Alas, he was on town patrol with Sakura and Nirei, so all good things must come to an end. Nirei shouts the word ‘intruder’, and in that same breath, you had finished the group of thugs.

“Oh shit, it’s Bofurin!”

The three of three stop, not knowing what to do. Kiryuu and Tsugeura fall in step behind them, all brandished on Sakura’s opposite sides.

Suo pauses, noticing the light blue color of your jacket. The pin on the jacket has a spiral, and from the side view, he can see glimpses of a design on the back of the jacket, not unlike their enemy-turned-friend Shishitoren.

He eyes you up and down, nothing that seems threatening in your stance or posture. How interesting.

Hayato Suo has always been a curious child.

“Yes, that would be us, and you are?”

Nirei looks up at him in exasperation. He pointedly ignores it.

“L/N Y/N of Sanshedo. We’re a new faction in town. Say, you’re Hayato Suo, right? Fancy a spar?”

Well, he has always been the curious type, and Umemiya has always told them that fights are conversations, so why not?

“Sure.”

Sakura splutters. He’s been trying to get a fight out of Suo for ages!

What can he say? You’re very pretty and very interesting, is there anything else he needs in order to make a connection?

HAJIME UMEMIYA

As the leader of Bofurin, he has a responsibility to all of the people, his family, under his jurisdiction. He has a duty to the townspeople as well.

Quite frankly, he’s had a lot of foresight, especially when it comes to a certain two-toned first year, but he could’ve never predicted this.

A new gang, thats apparently been in existence for a while now, only two years younger than the founding of Bofurin, and he sees this as his responsibility to go and check it out.

A poor oversight on his part, in his opinion.

He shrugs on his coat, making sure to let Tsubakino that him and Hiragi are heading out, and exists the Furin premises.

The minute he gets there, he sees a whole abandoned school building, but looks big enough to be mistaken for a mini-airport.

Outside, he sees a couple people wearing identical jackets. A light blue colored varsity jacket, with spirals etched into the buttons and a sun branded into the back of the jackets.

A sun? Interesting choice of mascots.

Hiragi taps his shoulder, pointing to the windows of the building.

When Umemiya looks to the building, he sees the windows lined with nothing but people looking at them, all branded with the same light blue jackets, boys and girls mixed and alike.

Okay, he admits it. Walking into another gang’s territory without prompting is his fault, but he was curious!

“You work for Bofurin? Come with me.”

They’re both taken to an office. It has the same logo on the jackets on the wall, with the kanji for the gang in the middle.

Sanshedo. Sun Shade.

“Boss? I brought two people that wanna meet you-“

“Look! I got some new gemstones! I have topaz to add to the collection now- Oh!”

You snap your head to attention, to which Umemiya is looking at the collection of jewels with sparkling eyes. You look back at him with sparkling eyes as well.

You both share a hyperfixation. What is there not to like?

He can feel Hiragi’s deadpan stare behind him.

“Oooh! What do you like?”

“Plants!”

“Cool! Hey, you lead Bofurin, right? What’s your name?”

“Umemiya Hajime, you?”

“L/N Y/N, leader of Sanshedo. Care for a chat?”

Sure, he originally came to see what was up, discuss territory and make a possible alliance, but hey! This is cool too.

TOGAME JO

Well, here’s the thing about Togame and his relationship with Shishitoren thus far.

He’s changed, him and Choji, that doesn’t mean they aren’t still just as vigilant with protecting and managing their territory as they were before the Bofurin Tournament.

So, when he hears there’s a big ass brawl in between two different gangs in his and Choji’s territory, he puts himself into action immediately.

He slings on his jacket, the embroidered lion’s head contrasting with the monk-like garb he had on the daily. Glasses catching sunlight, running with Choji.

Only to come to the scene to find you, minor cuts and scrapes along your face, and blood on your knuckles that really didn’t seem to belong to you.

Then he looks down to see the other guys, and finally thinks, yes, you whooped ass.

However, that doesn’t mean that you get off scot free. This is his territory after all, and if it went unchecked, it would be worse for Shishitoren’s already bad reputation.

“And who might you be, beating up people in our territory.”

“I honestly couldn’t care less. I’ve seen those jackets, you’re Shishitoren. I have no business listening to people who prey on the weak for fun.”

“I don’t care what you think of us, you’re still in our territory. Also? You talk too much.”

“You beat up middle schoolers, I really don’t want to hear it. I just helped you out with Zinc, give me a break.”

His eye twitches. It’s too damn early for this.

And you’re quite the looker. It’s a shame you’re enemies as of right now.

He began to feel a foreign feeling bubble in his chest, it was a feeling he did not appreciate and did not know how to get rid of. He teleported down to the venue area of Wangshu Inn, quickly approaching you and the vendor.

“Hey.” Xiao was quick to approach you and the mysterious man, his yellow slitted eyes glaring harshly at the hand that was on your shoulder. You turned to give a soft smile to Xiao, moving slightly in order to get the man’s hand off you. “Oh, Xiao! I wasn’t expecting to see you down here, what a pleasant surprise. Please excuse me, sir.” You stepped out of the man’s booth and came beside your lover, your soft hands cupping his cheek to place a gentle kiss on his smooth skin. His cheeks blossomed into a light pink, averting his gaze quickly from you to the plains of Liyue, his expression clearly flustered. “What are you doing down here? I promise I’ll call your name if something goes wrong.” His eyes narrowed further towards you, a silent warning telling you that he wasn’t asking you, he was telling you to go with him. You were a bit puzzled by his sudden demanding behavior, but figured something must be wrong, so you bid the man a farewell and thanked him once more before going to Xiao with a soft sigh. “Okay, let’s go.” Without another word, he wrapped a strong arm around your waist, and teleported you both to his room at the inn that he only just started using because of you. Once arrived, you stepped out of his grasp and came in front of him. “Xiao? Is something the matter? You seem a bit off…”

“That guy. He was getting too close.” His answer struck you into silence, pretty much stunning you into place at the sheer realization that Xiao had gotten a bit jealous seeing the guy being so kind to you. You stifled a small giggle in front him, quickly stopping once you saw his serious face. “What is so humorous? Did I say something wrong?” You shook your head and gave him a small smile before running a hand through his hair slightly, making a blush creep up the yaksha’s pale features. Human affection was still so foreign to him, but you made everything feel so natural and easy for him. You certainly were bad for him. He might find himself craving your touch more often than he would like to admit. “No baby, it just sounds like a certain green-eyed monster was whispering things in your ear.”

“Green-eyed monster?” Xiao looked around the room with a confused expression, coming back to land on your gentle features. You could only laugh again. I haven't read any STEVE/BUCKY FIC in the last five years or so (Endgame really burned me hard), BUT I can at least offer what I read up to that point! Most of my recs are from around when Captain America: The Winter Soldier first came out (some from before, so there's a few speculation fics) and then I was ready semi-regularly up through Inifinity War, so these may be a bit dated but also the fandom had some ABSOLUTE BANGER fics from that era! “FUCK” you sobbed as you passed the checkered flag. “P11, yn. P11.” you nodded quietly mumbling something. you saw through your blurred vision, charles running to the team as he wins another GP, yet again.

you make your way to the garage and put your helmet down, no talking to anyone on your way to the bathroom, immediately breaking down.

“yn? media time” you hear “i can’t im sorry- i can’t” you sob once again.

sure, you’d think- ‘why is she crying? she’s an f1 driver and it’s just p11’. well, that’s the thing. having this as your 3rd gp in a row with no points scored for the team while your team mate is always on the podium is mentally exhausting.

charles leclerc is known to be the golden ferrari boy. you both have a neutral friendship off track. he doesn’t ever notice your struggles, which makes it harder to deal with.

“yn, you need to go out there. it’ll stir up controversy” you hear the impatience through their voice. you nod, getting up, wiping your tears, and splashing water on your face before opening the door. you feel the looks on you but you continue walking towards the media.

“yn! you mentioned in the interview a while ago you’d do your best amidst starting at the back, was it more difficult than you expected as you finished in P11?” they held the mic up to your mouth

“Um- I started from P13 and even if i only made it to P11, it doesn’t mean this is the best it will get. The tracks were, yes, quite difficult but- um. I’ll try to improve and score more points for the team next time.” You scrunched your nose.

a few dodgeable questions were being asked and just as you were answering your last question…

“how do you feel as you’ve scored no points whereas your teammate, Charles Leclerc, is about to go up the podium now?” You swallowed the lump forming in your throat “I feel happy for Charles. He works hard for it” you smile and walk away.

you look to the side and see Charles spraying champagne on the podium. you feel happy for him, but the wallowing feeling in your stomach lingers.

when you finish you, once again, raise your head to see another champagne fight at front. one year in ferrari and you’ve only had 2 podiums. you somehow curse yourself for smiling at your teammate, instead of loathing them.

arcane season 2 introduction analysis incoming:

does anyone else find it really cool, but also very nerve-wracking, that the season 2 arcane introduction is referencing a bunch of well known tragic plays/musicals? we all know riot/fortiche isn’t one to put unnecessary details in, every single thing is either symbolic, a parallel or foreshadowing - especially in the introductions. so, could these chosen plays/performances foreshadow how the rest of the story could go?

i know that the caitlyn/macbeth poster parallels have been circulating a lot recently, and i think it provides a really good idea into how caitlyn’s arc might go.

the events of act one positioned caitlyn in a perfect place to follow the storyline of macbeth. her current state (losing her mother, the trauma from jinx, etc) has made her predisposed to violence, much like macbeth. we can clearly see that in the caitvi betrayal scene, when she hits vi in the gut with a rifle, as well as in the fight before that, where she has no qualms with potentially killing innocents for the ‘greater good’. she was also thrust into a position of high power where she will be easily manipulated by ambessa.

similar to this, macbeth is a story of a man thrust into a high position of power and unable to keep the blood off his hands, and he and his wife eventually go mad because of it. I think ambessa fits the role of lady macbeth here, and she has the potential to goad caitlyn (macbeth) into violent acts and atrocities while keeping the blood and blame off her hands. through caitlyn, ambessa now has significant influence and power over piltover and the fight with zaun. how will caitlyn, who is barely more than a pawn now, cope with this? macbeth slowly went insane in his attempt to maintain power - i fear for how caitlyn will fare.

macbeth is a tragedy, by the way.

i haven’t properly analysed the rest, but i think it’s interesting to know that the shot of jinx holding the flag is a reference to les mis (also a tragedy, as SPOILER ALERT all the characters die in their fight for freedom and fairness). the line is literally 'oh the misery'. if jinx rallies zaun to fight against piltover, is she leading them into a massacre?

les mis is a tragedy.

the shots of mel and ambessa lounging on the couch is a reference to julius caesar. it is a play of betrayal and caesar is betrayed by one of their companions. et tu, brute? brutus joins a conspiracy to assassinate caesar and prevent him from becoming a tyrant. does ambessa become a tyrant/bloodthirsty leader with her newfound power? will mel join the black rose and betray her mother in order to stop piltover’s destruction?

julius caesar is a tragedy.

one last thing. in all of these works, the main character of the story dies by the end.

so, safe to say, i am very nervous about what the introduction is foreshadowing. i have a feeling an important character is going to die.

arcane will be a tragedy.

(viktor and the mask is also a reference to phantom of the opera but, as much as i love that musical, i haven’t analysed his shots yet so i haven’t included it)

Being the same age as Hawks, and new to the hero scene, you navigated being new heroes together.

Your childhood best friend should be here with you, by your side, being heroes together because it's what you promised, but he'd died years ago in a fire, so now you carry out both your dreams for him too.

You've been friends with Hawks for years, getting to know him only a few months after his debut.

And though you say friends, you will admit that there were some...feelings...at the start, because really, who could blame you? Of course, that crush was quickly snuffed out with him clearly solely focused on the job, with occasional random hookups, and as time went on, it disgusts you to even consider him as anything more.

He's a walking red flag, literally, with those wings, but he's your friend, your first best friend in a long time, and you know he feels the same.

You know he works directly for the Commission, even with his own agency, after they helped him so much, but you've always been wary of them. As a freelance hero, who doesn't take their orders as much as those directly aligned with them or other Hero Agencies would, they don't exactly like you either, especially with how close you are with their golden boy.

And while that isn't really much to be totally wary of them, seeing Hawks' real smile and morals dwindling over the years, is; because it's almost always after he comes back from a sketchy secret mission assigned to him from them.

So of course, you start digging where you shouldn't, because you're worried for your friend, worried for what he's becoming.

You find out that he's been ordered to kill someone, not even a villain, no.

A politician.

They apparently got on the HPSC's bad side, and now Hawks is being ordered to get them out of the picture.

That's the tipping point for you, when you stop trusting them, when you start questioning them more, their ways, their morals, their orders.

And unbeknownst to you, when they start questioning your loyalty.

Recently, Hawks has been....distant. Cagey, in ways he usually wasn't, even when he had the most top secret missions.

Normally, one wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but after knowing him for so long, it's easy to spot.

You find out the reason from an unexpected source.

Dabi knew the bird was a spy from the moment they met.

It was pathetically obvious.

But, well, he thought he could be useful.

Not without doing some background checks of course. Name, birthday, parents, affiliations.

Friends.

It's how he finds out about you, beautiful and achingly familiar, and one of Hawks' closest friends.

He stomps down on the flare of jealousy at that, reminding himself that that boy died years ago on that hill, reminding himself that you probably don't even remember him.

Getting someone to hack into the HPSC files, he further looks into Hawks and his movements, what missions he has, your missions, what they have on you and oh.

He thought he was at the peak of his anger towards Heroes, towards the Commission, towards Society.

He thought that the person he hates most in the world would always be his father.

He finds out that the HPSC president, and perhaps Hawks himself, are competing for that position.

Hawks is absolutely a spy, his mission to infiltrate and eliminate the League clear as day in his files, along with something else that makes his seams smoke with the heat of his anger.

The HPSC president deems you a threat, and has ordered your elimination, with Hawks being the one to carry it out.

Seething, he combs through their files, finding and collecting more and more information on the HPSC, and even then, he honestly doesn't know which one of their crimes you know about, which one has you suspected, has them wanting to silence you.

There's so many, it could be anything.

And then, he finds your file.

There are notes about your 'drifting loyalties', notes about what information they suspect you know, your schedule, and then...

The order for your assassination, along with the date and location they expect it to happen.

The very system and people that you've devoted your life to are the ones that would dare betray you, betray your trust; would try to abandon you, throwing you away like trash.

He refuses to sit back and let the best thing that's ever happened to him get snuffed out and tossed away like trash.

And hey, maybe you'd like the idea of becoming villains together instead.

When you get home from a long patrol, all you want to do is shower, eat and sleep like the dead.

Those plans go out the window the moment you step foot into your apartment and feel someone is there.

You scan the dark room silently, not seeing anything at first. Then, a flicker of light; a small flame shines in the darkness, lighting up the features of a man on your couch.

Yes, a flame.

A blue flame.

Blue flames that are hauntingly familiar for multiple reasons, but one of those reasons is literally dead, so the remaining ones are terrifying.

The villain Dabi is sitting on your couch, so very casually, as he plays with the licks of fire between his fingers, the light of it illuminating his features eerily, casting shadows and making his eyes seem to glow as they stare at you.

A bead of sweat trickles down the side of your head.

Yes, you are a hero, a damn good one, at that.

That doesn't mean you're prepared to fight the A-rank villain, tired and alone, in an enclosed area, within a populated apartment building.

You swallow thickly, reminding yourself that you need to be calm.

Seeing as he already knows you're there, you flick on the lights.

"Dabi. What do you want?" You try to keep your voice steady and the tremor out of it as you speak, and you don't know if you succeed, as you slowly walk forward.

"Well hello to you too, H/N." He says sarcastically, his voice smoky and deep,

"Come sit, yeah? We need to have a lil chat."

Before you can think about it, you scoff, glaring at him warily. "And what could we, possibly have to talk about?"

Huffing a dry laugh, he raises his hand, waving a folder. "Sit and you'll find out."

This is such a bad idea, but honestly, what choice do you have?

Taking a deep breath, you steel yourself, sitting on the opposite side.

For a moment, he doesn't say anything, just staring at you, making you start to get more and more nervous and impatient.

Just as you were about to snap, you hear him murmur softly, almost sadly, "You really don't recognize me, huh?"

Taken aback, you stutter, "W-What?"

Running his fingers through his midnight hair, he mutters, "Well, I was hoping that you of all people would recognize your best friend, Y/N."

Azure eyes lock onto your wide ones as you freeze in place.

You've only had two best friends all your life, and one is dead.

Though, you never truly accepted that, did you?

Your hands shake, tears blurring your vision as you look at the man in front of you. Really look at him.

At the scars in some specific places, some from burns, some not.

At the way he taps his foot nervously.

At those blue eyes, the same color as Endeavor's, yet so different, so pretty, so achingly familiar.

When you take a closer look at his dark hair, and you can see white roots peaking out, that's what bursts the dam.

"Touya?" Your voice is fragile as you ask tentatively, hopefully; a small tremor in your voice as you gaze at him with teary eyes, and Dabi feels his heart crack.

"Yeah, Doll, it's me." He breathes, opening arms because he knows what's coming. And he's right, as you lunge forward, tackling him in a hug as you sob into his shoulder. He grips you just as tight, burying his face in your hair, hugging you tightly. And oh, how you missed his hugs, completely engulfing you in that comforting warmth.

You sob and scream at him, words muffled by his shoulder, but he just holds you through it.

And when you're done, minutes or hours later, you pull back, sitting next to him.

You need answers.

"What the fuck, Touya?" Your voice is croaky and broken from all the crying, and he chuckles lightly as he wipes away the lingering tears.

"I go by Dabi now." There's a shit eating grin threatening to be released but he manages to hold it in to spare himself of your wrath.

You glare at him through glossy eyes, biting out, "Yeah, no shit. Explain."

He sighs, thumb caressing your cheekbone as he avoids your eyes. "I'll explain everything another day. Right now, I need you to read this." He pulls back, reaching for the folder you completely forgot about, and hands it to you.

You look at him with furrowed brows as you open it, before looking down to read.

You fall silent as you read, breathing picking up as the papers crinkle in your tight grip.

"Touya, where'd you find this?" You whisper shakily, eyes flicking back up to him.

"....You know where." His voice is gentle, and somehow that makes it worse.

You swallow around the lump in your throat as you stare back down at the orders written for your winged best friend to kill you.

He wouldn't.

Would he?

You know him to be loyal to the Commission, to the president, but you also know him to be a loyal friend.

Taking a deep breath, you let it out slowly.

You'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

When you say this, of course, Dabi isn't pleased.

"And what if he actually tries to kill you? You know how much of a lap dog he is." He says through gritted teeth, trying to control his anger at the thought of you even being near Hawks.

"I....he's my friend, Tou....has been for years....I have to believe I mean more to him than an order." You try to convince yourself that you absolutely trust that he wouldn't go through with this, would warn you at the very least.

Touya scoffs in disbelief, looking at your like you're stupid, before sighing in resignation. "Okay...if that's what you want. But if he tries, or if you just change your mind, call me." He slips you a piece of paper, presumably with his number on it. "I missed ya, so if you want, you can join me in the League. They'd love you."

You sputter in surprise, looking at him with wide, incredulous eyes. "I'm a hero, Dabi."

He looks at you flatly. "Yeah, but for how long until they either kill you or revoke your license? They want to get rid of you, Y/N. Because you know they're corrupt. So, we'll just take them down."

You're on the verge of crying again, and he could see it.

"We couldn't be heroes together, so how 'bout villains?" His smile is cheeky but genuine as he tries to lighten the mood, softening when it works, as you choke out a wet laugh.

"Just, think about, yeah?" Leaning in, he presses a soft kiss to your forehead and you feel yourself flush with warmth.

With that, he leaves the way he apparently entered. Through the window, down the fire escape.

Left alone with your thoughts, you doubt you'd get any sleep tonight.

Every day since then, you've been withdrawing as much money from your account as you can without seeming suspicious, transferring the rest to another account; and with a go bag packed and ready for the worst case scenario, you stew in your anxiety as the days go by.

The date of your scheduled assassination is tomorrow, and you've yet to speak to Hawks.

You tell yourself that it's normal, because it is; you've had longer periods of time than this of not speaking to each other with the cluttered messes that are your schedules.

What isn't normal, is that if he was going to say anything, he would've by now.

You can't exactly just ask Hawks about it, as you have no way of explaining how you know, and no way of truly knowing that he wouldn't just kill you on the spot.

Because as much as you like and trust him as a friend, you've never felt that the feeling is as mutual. Like, sure he likes you enough as a friend, but would he go against orders from the HPSC for you?

You don't know, and that scares you.

So you do all you can at the moment, without outright running.

You wait.

If he tries to contact you, trying to get you to go to that specified spot tomorrow, you'll know, and you'll already have a way out with Dabi and the League; because otherwise, the truth is, there's no future for you.

Because even if you survive this, you'd have to go into hiding anyway, or they'll just try again, or ruin your life, revoking your license, everything, or just straight up frame you and toss you into Tartarus, throwing away the key.

So many bad outcomes.

Yet, naively, you hope.

Then, you get a text from Hawks, asking you to hang out tomorrow, at the location.

And your heart cracks, because someone you care about, someone you trusted, has decided that your life is worth less than their job or morals.

And then you get angry.

You quickly gather your things, all of your necessities packed and ready to go in a duffel bag and backpack, and contact Dabi for pickup on a burner phone.

And as the swirling portal opens up in your living room, you send off one last text to Hawks, replying with a short "Fuck you :)", on your personal phone of course, before dropping it into the prepared glass of acid, so they can't get anything off of it or track you, right next to the files Dabi gave you, and stepping through the mist.

Straight into Dabi's waiting arms.

After meeting the League, you decide that you already like them, though wish you met under better circumstances.

Such as one of your best friends decidedly not trying to kill you.

For the corrupt government, no less!

And through all of the blazing anger and newfound hatred, when it's just you and Dabi left, you cry.

He softly cups your face in his scarred hands, gently tilting your head up to hold your gaze as he wipes away your tears. "The heroes would dare make a martyr of you, sacrifice you and throw you away like trash for this fucked up world." He says lowly, voice trembling with the anger that burns like small suns in his azure eyes. He leans in closer, warm breath hitting your lips, murmuring, "But I'm no hero, doll. I'd raze the world if it meant you'd be warm." His words drip with reverence, eyes blazing with the truth of his words, and you tremble where you stand.

Because as a hero, the threat and promise of such violence should horrify you.

But as just a person, who's never known true loyalty shown to you in so long, who's been betrayed and abandoned by all those you've loved and trusted, in the past and recently, being shown such devotion, no matter how tainted, how violent, by the one person you've always loved most, it is irristibly bewitching.

And before you know it, you're pulling him down into a bruising kiss, breathing out all of your doubts and worries, and he swallows them all down with a sigh of contentment, sliding one hand from your cheek, down to your waist, pulling you in closer.

To anyone else, you'd seem foolish to put any amount of trust in a villain of all people, after being burned by betrayal so many times by people they'd deem 'better'.

But they've all let you down, and Touya, Dabi, is not them, so why not try the other side?

It's a sacrifice you're actually willing to make this time.

Pulling back, you whisper against his mismatched lips.

"Let's raze everything."

His answering grin is feral and bright, and worth the sacrifice that is the world.

The very world that made the mistake of throwing you both away.

what's the best Spongebob episode in your opinion?

Band Geeks is number one with a bullet. It hits all the points a good classic spongebob episode hits: it's nonstop hilarious, it's grounded with emotional stakes, and squidward is on his A-game.

this episode does a LOT with just 11 minutes of runtime and doesn't waste a breath; every single line is a joke. i don't have to tell you that it's one of the most quotable spongebob episodes. i mean, ALL THESE lines came from band geeks:

too bad that didn't kill me.

whoever's the owner of the white sedan... you left your lights on.

people talk loud when they wanna act smart, right? "CORRECT!!!"

big! meaty! CLAWS!

oh, so now the talking cheese is gonna preach to us!

you took my once chance at happiness, and crushed it. crushed it into little, tiny, bite-sized pieces!

squidward's always been there for us when it was convenient for him!

a one! a two! a skiddly-diddly-do!

they couldn't be here. they... died.

that's his eager face.

these are some ugly looking fish!

and there's so much physical comedy on top of that, right from the start of squidward slamming the door on the veterinarian, to the end scene with squilliam getting carried away on a stretcher during the performance. a lot of big gags are punctuated with just enough breathing room... and then even the breathing room is funny.

plus, i love the way they used the instruments themselves for the comedy— patrick honking with every step after sandy shoves him through the trombone, the band playing taps after the flag twirlers explode, and all the sound effects of the instruments while they're being used as weapons.

it's incredibly difficult to set up and pay off solid emotional stakes in just 11 minutes, but they pay it off. you hate squilliam from the jump, you feel bad for squidward getting constantly disappointed, and you cheer when spongebob helps everyone discover what it truly means to be in a marching band. a lot of shows can't get me to give a flying fuck about the characters even with thirty minutes of runtime or more and it's mindblowing what those original spongebob writers could do in less than half of that time.

and i mean. come on. SWEET VICTORY!!!

Fandom: Tokyo Revengers Characters: Sanzu, Hanma, Ran and Kakucho. Genres:Yanderes Note: Ah, yes red flags trio. Kakucho is green flag forever in my heart, shut up. also, i don't know if you want hcs or short story so i make hcs. I might overdo this T-T

Sanzu Haruchiyo:

Sanzu is quite a picky at choosing his lover, he wants, no, he needs someone who similar to mikey. If Mikey his king, you either his queen/monarch or someone he tolerates.

The only reason he dates you at first mostly because of amusement, just some pawn for him to play. He accepts your confession because he thought you are easy to manipulate and he need it to stay out of police ranges because, well, mucho.

And boy he thinks he hit the jackpot because you are the most loyal and dumbest pawn he ever sees, you agree with everything he said, go along with everything he does, hell, you even turn your eyes away from the crimes he does.

At first, he thought that he keeps you around because you are a perfect alibi to use but slowly, he starts falling in love with you. like deeply in love, his amusement turns into obsession, from pawn to his new king/queen/monarch.

He now become extremely loyal to you, he become nicer and touchier, and do everything that you want. He will kill anyone who dare looking at you or has slight interest on you. He already claims you and there's no way he going to let you go.

But he never expects that one day you present him the head of the girl who insult his scars. Smiling proudly as you hold the head, a crazed look on your eyes that rival, no, more than him.

He now realizes that from the start you date him not because you found him interesting, no, you worship him more than he worships you. If he thinks of you as king/queen/monarch, you see him as a god.

You been killing all the people around him without even leaving a single trace or suspicion. You take care of his problem before he even knows about it, you make a shrine of him, you have a room with his pictures, you memorize his schedule, you know where he goes because you already put a chip on the mask he always wears.

Sanzu has mixed feeling about this, but he knows one thing, he f*cking love you.

Hanma Shuji:

For Hanma, you are just some random kid who always stalking him. Following him everywhere he goes and secretly take his picture, he thought that you were some gang informants or something, so he let you follow him around.

He thinks it's cute and adorable that you think he didn't know you follow him, the way you try to hide around the corner or act dumb. It's flattering that someone give him this much attention, and honestly, he starts catching feeling. Just a bit. Okay, like a bit too much.

When you not around following him, Hanma can't help but feel jealous and angry that you not there to pay attention to him. But if you appear again next day, his mood brightens that even kisaki weird out by it.

He became obsesses with you to the point he follows you back home, before you can close the door, he appears behind you and force himself inside your house. Telling you that next time you can just talk to him as he walks in, but his words die on his tongue when he sees that your whole house filled with his pictures.

There is a shrine with his picture and the things he throws away, hell, even the shirt with blood. He then sees that there's wall full of his past enemies that mysteriously disappear after losing a fight with him. All of them are now dead.

Oh, oh~ if he like you before he loves you now. He realizes that you are perfect for him. Someone who worship him to the point that you willing to be his slave. To do everything he order you. Surely you won't mind if he stays here, right? After all, why bother take a picture when you have the real one in front of you~

Haitani Ran:

You are Rindou friend who somehow always following the younger haitani around. Rindou sometime bring you back to home to hang out with, so ran thought that you are his brother side chick or something. Turn out you and Rindou are really good friend, you two meets when you stay at his side when he blacks out from drinking too much and you two just click from there.

Ran don't really care as long you didn't hurt his brother but his opinion on you changes when you buy him favorite Mont Blanc from expensive bakery in Tokyo. "They our friend now, rin." Ran say as he munches on the dessert.

Day by day, Ran start getting interest on you. You like the perfect friend, you know when to come so you didn't disturb his sleep, not making too much noise, buy him food every time you visit. He starts thinking, is this how it feels having a lover? He slowly getting obsesses with how you treat him and start falling in love with you and now he the one follow you around that even Rindou can't hang around with you without Ran sitting in the middle.

Luckily Rindou know that his brother smitten with you, so he uses this chance to leave you with his brother while he goes out drinking. So, like now every time you come to their house, rindou leave you with Ran. This becomes routine, heck, Ran even drag you with him to his room for a nap every time he feels like it, treating you like his personal teddy bear. So, you guys like, dating now? Yup, dating.

"You know, i never told them anything about you." Rindou exclaim one day, "I never told them you name or your sleeping schedule. Thinking back, when we first meet, they know my name already."

So, Ran and Rindou decide to follow you home and break in when you not home because they can. And much to their surprise are that your room are filled with Ran pictures from age 10 to the time they two being send to juvenile detention center and after they get out. There also a list of his enemies and half of them mark red and dead. Ran then realize that you been stalking him ever since he safe you from those bully long time ago, no wonder you look familiar. Usually, he will get creep out with this thing but it's you, the one he obsessed with. If anything, he feels flatter and proud that you love him to this point.

Before he got in accident, he plans on telling you his feeling, but he lost contact with you after he is sent to orphanage. He thought that like Takemichi you forgot about him too, so he often stays away from you after finding out that you still live in the same house.

The only reason he finally sees you are because Izana getting annoyed of him disappear every day just to stalk you from far, so taking a lead he kicks Kakucho toward you when you walk down the road. Imagine how happy he is when you call out his name in surprise when you see him, you didn't forget about him even after he got a scar on his face.

Izana who wants the best for his servant allow him to take one month off from Tenjiku so he can spend time with you. And boy, he uses those days off wisely. Catching up with you, taking you out and make sure that he stays close to you, so you won't leave him again.

What make him happier that you confess to him, that you too like him since you two a kid. So now you two dating, and boy, he become more clingier to the point he drags you around even in Tenjiku meeting which Izana kick him.

One day you told him that you have business outside Tokyo, and it take a week for you to return. So Kakucho drag Izana to your house with excuse that someone might break in and that someone is him. He just wants your shirt because he misses you.

Imagine Izana and Kakucho reaction when he sees that your room are filled with pictures of him. Pictures of him and you, torn up pictures of him with what seem like Takemichi, pictures of him at orphanage, pictures of him with Izana. Turn out you been stalking him since forever, you also manage to find the orphanage he in and stalk him there.

Izana found a list of Tenjiku enemies on your wall, half of marked dead and half being torture. If Izana didn't approve you two reaction he is now. Which make Kakucho happy because his king approve his lover.

Next week you come back home, Kakucho greet you happily and told you how proud he is with you and how he loves you.

I just meant your hat looks cool” you get defensive trying to explain yourself as you hear faint giggles “well thank you” again I repeat Chuuya is NOT Chuuya when he's drunk.

Eventually, your small talk turns into conversation which blooms into laughs and giggles which then transforms into exchanging numbers.Unfortunately, it's cut short when one of the port mafia limos come to pick him up “I really like you Nakahara,call me when you're sober if you want. We can arrange a date so I can get to know you more.” you say walking with him towards the car door “I’ve got your number I’ll make sure to call.” he winks at you before getting in the backseat of the limo and driving off.

About a day later around 4pm you're on a walk in a park, gold rays falling on your E/C pools as your hair gets caught in the wind. Your thoughts zoned out anywhere but in your head but you’re soon snapped out of it to a ringing phone, it was your phone. “Hello” you speak to the other line, stopping to sit at a park bench “It’s Chuuya, you still down for that date?” he can hear you giggling from his pov “alright pretty boy,where do you wanna go?” you decide to entertain this “meet me at a cafe at 8pm i'll send you the location,Oh and it's all on me you don't need to bring any money” then he hung up ,kinda mysterious???

Once you're finally ready you go outside and walk up the sidewalk to the cafe where Chuuya is already waiting “hey gorgeous ready for our date?” He says smirking like he just won an award.He opens the door for you as the familiar smell of coffee and baked goods flood your senses,it's warm, you already like the location choice as Chuuya makes it better by pulling your chair for you to sit down.Once you two get to chatting a familiar sound reaches your ear playing from the radio,its a song,It’s YOUR song.The read on your cheeks made it obvious you were somewhat embarrassed as soon as the song played which brung Chuuyas banter to a halt trying to find out what was wrong with you. Did you not like the food? Or..did you not like him “Hey..so uh you like the music it's from my favourite artist S/N..hah-” he gets nervous his insecurities taking over.”Oh yeah just kinda awkward hearing a song I sang” hes dumbfounded “what.?” it takes him a few minutes of brief silence before realising “WAIT A FUCKING SECOND.. -So whenever you went to the arcade you always try to get rubber ducky’s for him. You spent a lot of time with Charlie getting to know her and her to know you. And you especially made time to hang out with Lucifer.

-You fell even more in love when you found out that Lucifer made a sucky resembling you. You kept on you at all times. And I mean at all times. You worshipped it every single day.

-And how happy you were to find out that Lucifer feels the same towards you too! If it wasn’t obvious with Lucifer’s attention almost always either being on you, the hotel or Charlie.

Husk

-With Husk it’s very hard for anyone to have their eyes on him. But here you are, like a cartoon character with heart eyes focused on the winged feline.

-You fell hell over heels for the kitty, especially with how he encouraged Angel. You love a man who embraces who you are.

-You did anything to get him to notice you, you helped him by the bar. You tried your best to not annoy him. You get him drinks (which is the action of yours he loved the most). And you obviously getting him a bunch of kitty related gifts! :D

-In return to your actions you noticed that Husk has been warming up to you, and that you’ve both has gotten closer. You even heard him purr once. You never said anything about it but oh my fucking god that was adorable.

-In the end, husk grew to love you not because you got him gifts, but because of the intention of it. All you ever did was try and help husk and love him so of course he fell for you. How could he not.

Sir Pentious

- Oh this man fell for you first. You both are hopeless romantics and that made it even more worth it.

-You just love giving Pentious your love and gifts. You always wanted to spend time with him while he makes his weapons and Pentious love spending time with you as well.

-Pentious would always have his egg bois watch after you if he isn’t able to be there with you. And you just love the egg bois like they’re one of your own.

-How adorable it is for Pentious to see you asleep with his minions cuddled up close to you.

-If you’re warm blooded, you and Pentious would cuddle so much.

bad svsss fanfic/au idea: random marriage/guidance counselor transmigrates into PIDW, sees the absolute mess of lord luo bingge and his harem, goes "jesus fucking christ", and makes bank.

and like. they're probably not even that good of a counselor. it's just that people lack any sense when it comes to bingge, and since he's the emperor, that means pretty much everyone. also because therapy doesn't exist. i'll give them some credit though, whatever they hell they're doing works.

now, while sqq and sqh are having a grand ol' time in SVSSS with their husbands, this random, average counselor has to deal with being in the care of lord luo bingge. no wife beam. no anything. all they have is some basic empathy and common sense people just tend to lack in here for some reason.

it's even worse considering the fact that they've arrived after luo bingge completed his plan and became the hailed demon emperor. now, while they've never full on read the entire thing, they've heard enough from a close friend who has kept up with it to know the main character is the literal embodiment of the cycle of abuse and heavy unresolved issues. like, it got to the point where they started to unironically use luo bingge as an example of how to not deal with conflicts and trauma.

really, how could people like bingge? seriously, it's just another edge lord main character with way too many glamorized issues and abuse. red flag! (hey, who the hell is peerless cucumber and why does he keep defending binghe? lord, have mercy on these impressionable young men...)

so, after being kidnapped taken in by bingge and his wives after the bunch claimed that they were a "wise man" or whatever (all they did was offer some basic relationship advice to some poor woman, who turned out to be ning yingying, who told the other wives, and it just spiraled from there), they were deemed "special" and given their personal office and a room! hey, better than being on the streets in this god forsaken hentai-ish world, i guess.

quickly, a routine was established. one that, especially, consisted of luo bingge outright ignoring them. which, they weren't complaining about!

wake up, eat, meet with multiple of the wives, spend their hard earned money on delicious delicacies, meet with more wives, sleep, repeat. the most interaction they had with the demon emperor was him ordering them around, but even then, that was uncommon. it was, surprisingly, easy to fall into the rhythm of this undoubtedly odd life. you're upset that lord luo hasn't spent much time with you? maybe you can ask! the other wives are being annoying? remove yourself from the situation. you're upset that lord luo has so many other wives? oohhh... yeah. uhm.

luo binghe only tolerated them, they knew that. and they're sure that, if not for multiple of his wives insisting on keeping them, they'd be dead for even daring to be so "intimate" with them. a little bit of a shock, if they do say so themself. like, insecure much (something that they'll probably never get used to is the fact that bingge built an entire little village for his wives, though)?

but that's not the most shocking thing, oh, no.

it's this.

"i- i tried.. i tried to take the.. hiic-- other.. other shizun w-with me.." lord luo binghe, the powerful, almighty demon emperor, trembles and sobs. "b-but he! he wanted to-- s-stay with that.. stupid, inferior version of my- hic- self.."

despite the mountain of gold they're getting paid in, is it really enough to deal with this? probably not. will they get killed for witnessing luo binghe's vulnerability? perhaps. is he a dictator, the embodiment of the cycle of abuse, and a crazily vengeful bastard? definitely.

"it's-- s' not.." his voice breaks. something else inside of them probably does, too. "..n-not, hiic- fair."

should they feel bad? they shouldn't. he's hurt much too many people. isn't it a little late? can he even be redeemed? because, they are absolutely not here to try and "fix" him.

and yet.

"can you breathe, lord luo? deep breaths, don't focus on anything else but me, okay? i'll do it with you too. can you do that for me? there, there. you're doing a very good job, do you know that? here, when i'm upset, sometimes i like to do something called, '5-4-3-2-1'. i promise it'll help, binghe. would you like for me to do this one with you too?"

they can't help but think about a small, lonely boy on qing jing peak.

after that, bingbing slowly starts to come around and develop an actual bond! cool!! he just,,, can't believe only his wives were granted the "wisdom". how foolish was he?

"i know i'm only a mere human, but i can tell that lord luo is... masking things. you can put that away for now, okay? i promise, everything you say here will be confidential information, and it'll never leak... no no there's no enemy spies here-"

Obey Me (Original and Nightbringer ver) Original - You become the therapist of many men with trauma and insecurities. The men in question are fucking demons that have the power to shred you into grated cheese, but they instead decide to simp over you as the story goes on. (also did I mention that you'll die? No? Oh fuck-) Nightbringer - A continuation (?) of the Original Obey Me but in a completely different universe. That's right! You slip into the past, way before the main story happens, WAY before you were even born! Idk if there is a way to go home but hey! Our Life (Now and Forever & Beginnings and always) Both stories consist of you growing up with your love interest since childhood. There are many paths to take, lots of assets to use to customize your character, and many side stories for you to read! My Beef with Killmonger - An MCU Rant

I think people struggle to understand that not ALL villains are misunderstood—they’re choosing to be evil and that's it.

Take Killmonger for example (I’m doing the MCU specifically because I haven’t read the comics—cry about it).

Besides committing the atrocity of making those half dreads the Frank’s Red Hot for every media with black characters lately, there's aspects I don’t hear people touch on when it comes to Killmonger as a character. And if there are, I sure haven’t heard it yet---so I really hope there's some info on this man I'm missing here. But if no one's gonna call out this man’s BS, I will.

I definitely comprehend that Erik losing his dad was extremely traumatic for him to experience as a child. But Killmonger was only focused on revenge and power alone. Because of the fact that T’Chaka was dead, Erik couldn’t take it out on him and instead decided to channel his anger towards the entirety of the Wakandan royalty—even towards T’CHALLA (even though T’Challa had NOTHING to do with it).

Even then, T’Challa was MORE than kind enough to let Erik see a Wakandan sunset BEFORE he died.

“I’m sorry my father was a POS. Here’s a sunset, bro.”

I get he's played by the oh-so handsome Michael B. Jordan, but let's remove the rose-colored lenses and consider something here.

On top of being a complete narcissist (who killed his GIRLFRIEND by the way), the guy also was just never EVER fit to hold power in ANY capacity to begin with. When the guy did kill (or believe he killed) T’Challa, what was the first thing he wanted to do?

Did he try to help other poor children in the neighborhood he grew up in?

Did he make a memorial for his dead father?

Did he start a program for fatherless children (like HE was)?

Did he even TRY to do ANYTHING of value that would’ve been beneficial to others in ANY way shape or form?

Newsflash: The answer to all of that is NO.

The FIRST thing this man does as KING is start a WAR between Wakanda and the United States.

Literally his FIRST act as king is to begin an event that could very well have left so many of his people to DIE and cause mass amounts of generational trauma. Meaning there'd potentially be a bunch of children in Wakanda that ALSO won't have their fathers should they die in the war. Is that NOT a major red flag?

The guy didn’t even DRESS like a king, he just walked around shirtless with a jacket like he was an NYC pimp.

Even pre-kingship, he already killed LOADS of people before he got to that point. Sure, you could argue that it was in order for him to reach Wakanda or what he planned to do. But does that not raise MORE red flags about his original intent, then?

Killmonger has a scar on his body for every person that he’s ever killed. The man’s torso is covered top to bottom in scars, meaning he has a major body count. So you’re telling me that this dude's okay with murdering innocent people just to get to a goal that was gonna lead him to kill more people ANYWAY?

Yes, I understand his trauma. Yes, I understand why he's angry at the world. Yes, I do think he's a great villain because every good story needs a good villain. But one thing I'll NOT do is act like this man's actions are justified when they're not. His conquest to create conflict highlights a SEVERE lack of genuine care for the very people he CLAIMS to wanna help.

He's a grown man who had every chance and choice to become better and he never took it because he chose to take his anger out on everyone else since the one who ACTUALLY committed sin against him had already DIED.

And when the “What If” series came out, Killmonger turned on EVERYONE he worked with, took the gauntlets for himself, and tried to reset reality.

Sure, you could say that Killmonger is a representation of black rage and on some level, I'd agree with you in terms of a story telling perspective. But storytelling dynamics don't change the fact this man is a piece of crap.

Don't EVEN try lying to me. The only reason this man has simps on Tumblr is because he's played by someone who's attractive. I bet if he was played by Steve Harvey, you'd all change your tune.

Trauma never is/will be an excuse to do horrible stuff. Once again, trauma can make a good villain and good villains are necessary. My ONLY issue with Killmonger is that he has a railroad of fans that try to justify his actions.

It's one thing to like a horrible character. And it's another thing to say a horrible character is justified in what they do. The reason why I think it's so dangerous to do that is because it CAN (not that it always does, but CAN) translate into real life instances where people defend ACTUAL human-shaped monsters for things they do as well (ie they're traumatized and/or attractive). That's why we have hybristophilic fangirls slobbering over Wade Wilson (if you know, you know).

But at the end of the day, everyone has choices. Killmonger made his.

Even Killmonger's FATHER was saddened by what his son became while speaking to him on the ancestral plane.

Look, I'm still staunchly of the opinion that Word of God statements and creator interviews are overvalued in fandom, especially when they get pulled out mostly as gotchas without then continuing to analyze whether or not the show canon is successful at getting across that same message. Death of the Author is good, actually, and we should remember that. But they are worth looking at in the context of evaluating intent vs execution, and for future speculation - just, like, please with less of the whole mile high pedestal idolizing and backlash cycles.

But if overvalued "Word of God" is annoying, then overvalued "supposed creator statements that have gone through three rounds of telephone and any given blogger has only heard about a quarter of them, which they'll use confidently anyway" is worse. So, since I'd already looked up interviews for various reasons...

Here is a fairly comprehensive list of interviews David Jenkins has given and statements he's made during them, presented without commentary (save curating which statements get highlighted). All provided with links. I definitely missed some, so if you have any that you want to add, please do - though if you could trim off any commentary and save it for tags / your own post with a link that would be cool.

Also, again, just because he said it doesn't make it incontrovertible canon that only a blind person wouldn't understand. Some of these even arguably contradict each other. The creator's intent doesn't always translate to what the show is doing, nor do you even have to think it was a good idea.

Asking what would this man say to Ed at the end because they've been together through everything? He went from a troubled and downtrodden employee to a jilted lover to a discarded employee, to someone that is just trying to find his footing again—no pun intended—to actually becoming this guy's parental figure on some level. And he's one person who kind of raised Ed right, because Blackbeard usually kills his parental figures. So, it felt right and it felt like that's how the mentor dies. The mentor in a story usually dies in the second act and then our hero has to go on and try to do it without them. It felt like the right journey for Izzy and a gratifying one for Con."

On leaving open for S3 - "I don't think it was a very hard thing to do. I think it was more that I felt a responsibility to leave Ed and Stede in a good place, at least for now. It's not gonna go well. They're not going to run a business well. Ed's too much of a talker. Stede can't focus. It's gonna be challenging."
