i am having such a miraculous ladybug themed normal trip to Paris
saw the ladynoir lookout point Eiffel Tower
AKJBFKSDJB OOOOOH is that the roof is that the roof where Chat Noir left his ring in Kuro Neko wow, le grand palais looks like such a nice and normal building!
WOW OKAY SO THIS IS WHERE ADRINETTE KISSED IN CHAT BLANC. ALSO WHERE OPERATION SECRET GARDEN TOOK PLACE. BUT SHOULD I WALK A LITTLE FURTHER TO STAND ON THE EXACT SPOT WHERE ADRINETTE KISSED?!?! Wow!! What a nice and normal view of the Eiffel Tower from the trocadéro!!
oh heeeey if i squint i can see the statue of liberty on l'île aux Cygnes where marichat kissed
HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID I ACCIDENTALLY GET OUT OF THE METRO RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE AGRESTE MANSION. hmmm. i definitely have no reason to feel any particular way about this random building beside this metro stop. but wow those are pretty gates! definitely no reason to think they might make someone feel intimidated or trapped or locked in or anything like that!!
hmm should i look for the louvre pyramid or should i circle back and cross the ladynoir jubilation dream kiss bridge le pont des arts first
hehehe adrien would totally make a pun out of this metro station
omg WOW it's the bridge ladrien is gonna kiss on next season (weirdly... i could not actually find this landmark 🤡)

Alright, who snatched the Miraculouses and wished for a new animation style in the next season? ⠀ ‼️ SPOILER ALERT ⬇️ ⠀ But seriously, I’m really going to miss SAMG. The animation in the special was amazing—textures, effects, movement—everything was on point and beyond impressive! ⠀ The storyline was pretty solid too. Even though it was a time-travel episode, it felt logical. Lila’s new look? Stunning. Granny Alix? Absolutely adorable. And you know what? The yellow suit wasn’t bad at all, especially with the design nods and that final fight scene giving off serious Miles vs. Spot vibes. The music was incredible too, like something straight out of Inception. Oh, and Ladynoir, hugging with the Eiffel Tower in the background—that's exactly what we've been waiting for! Speaking of Ladynoir…
I had a feeling Marinette wouldn’t tell Adrien the truth, but I really wanted her to confess to Chat Noir! That would’ve been the kind of drama I’d be totally hooked on in the upcoming season—I’d even forgive the new animation! After 10 years, don’t we deserve at least a half-reveal? If she’d told him as Marinette, not Ladybug, wouldn’t Chat have understood? The fact that she said nothing to him made me question her character development. I mean, she gave Bunnyx’s Miraculous to Chat at the start of S5, and now everything’s back to square one? So yeah, looks like jealousy and spying are going to be real in S 6… Oh no, please! ⠀ But these thoughts on Ladynoir are probably just wishful thinking—Chat Noir will likely stay a secondary character. My biggest disappointment in the special is…
is what Marinette wrote in the notebook. ‘Ladybug = Gabriel Agreste’? Seriously? You could’ve written a fake name to throw Lila off, or even used Alya to create a fake Ladybug and set up a trap! Or written, ‘Ladybug knows who took the Miraculous.’ You could’ve even given a fake address to lead the villain into an ambush. So many ways to mess with the new villain and drive the plot forward for Season 6! It was so frustrating that Marinette didn’t take advantage of that moment. ⠀ Writing scripts for long-running shows is definitely no easy task. I’m just holding out hope that the story isn’t going the way we expect because they’ve got something bigger planned. As a special, it felt weaker than the previous ones, but if this had been a double episode and the Season 5 finale, I would’ve loved it!

In retrospect do you think there were any major red flags in writing up to the S3 finale of ML that foreshadowed its downfall in future seasons or do you think it all started in what you call the retool era (S4&5).
I’d say we’re dealing with a lot of “recurring issues” and some actual red flags. As I’ve stated repeatedly, the New York Special basically has the same Ladynoir break up and get back together plot as season four, and it was bad in the New York Special and absolutely horrid in season four. Also, the show’s worst episodes, ‘Reflekdoll’ and ‘Kwamibuster’ reflect a lot of the writers’ more asinine writing decisions in the future. The New York Special and some season three episodes are, therefore, definitive red flags.
But yeah, the earlier seasons had some warning signs too. Adrien/Cat Noir is presented first and foremost as a lust object of Marinette’s. We don’t see Marinette appreciating Adrien as a person until ‘Origins’; before that point she’s only literally staring slack-jawed and drooling at Adrien’s photoshoots and ads. Marinette is also destructively jealous of Adrien from the point Lila is introduced, and she only escalates with the introduction of Kagami. Marinette’s objectification of Adrien has been in the show since its inception, considering that the original Adrien, thePV Félix, is presented in promotional materials as sullen, rude and unpleasant, meaning Marinette’s infatuation was most likely purely based on his looks. So, like, the sexism of heterosexual romance but the genders are just reversed is part of the show’s DNA.
Another important thing to note about the series is that our only Adrien-focused episodes, that focus on Adrien having some kind of a development arc with his feelings where he gets to be proactive about them instead of the show just showing the audience “oh, he’s upset now” or “oh, he’s happy now” and don’t still give Marinette a lion’s share of the focus and emotional weight, are ‘Copycat’ and ‘Santa Claws’, maybe arguably ‘Gorizilla’, though I suspect the Marinette trying to score a date segment takes up far more time than the important reveal of Adrien’s family problems. The writers have always prioritized Marinette’s feelings over Adrien’s.
Adrien’s contributions on the superhero side of things have also been getting downplayed since the start. He’s the more likely target of slapstick, with the show pilot ‘Stormy Weather’ having him get treated like a ping pong ball. He’s the one getting brainwashed or taken out by the Akumas frequently. And he’s the one the heroes’ shared mentor ignores completely. In ‘Syren’, Fu had to be strongarmed into meeting Adrien once, and then he never made an effort again. This is also the episode where the idea that Adrien shouldn’t complain about being treated as less than and should just patiently wait for whatever scraps he gets as a member of a team is first introduced. However, this episode was easily overlooked at the time, because the episode, in the end, had Fu meeting with Adrien, seemingly setting up Adrien being treated more equally, a promise that was never followed up on.
Now, though, I’d like to say why these things went unnoticed as red flags and just being some recurring issues. The thing about Adrien’s objectification was this: the people watching thought it was a joke and a sign of Marinette’s immaturity. It was presented humorously, and Marinette started being less creepy at Adrien once she became more able to talk to him. This, coupled with other lessons Marinette had about clear communication with her loved ones, like ‘Weredad’ and ‘Befana’, made people believe Marinette was going to have a character arc to grow into a more mature person who’s able to treat Adrien like a human being. This is another promise the writers never followed up on when they then retconned Adrien into a RealDoll and made him Marinette’s therapist to make sure Marinette never has to treat Adrien normally.
As for the lack of Adrien focus, the reason it went unnoticed was actually the lesser focus on other heroes, and the deeper emphasis on the superhero action than in S4-5. There were less heroes and more time spent on Akuma fights, which meant more screen time for Adrien as Cat Noir at least. When Cat Noir is the primary character Ladybug can interact with, he gets to give plenty of input on things and when he’s Ladybug’s only backup, he gets to do more things in battles. And then we add to that the bigger time the earlier seasons spent on Akuma fights, we get more of both of those things. It’s simple math. So, while Adrien didn’t get to contribute decisively a lot, he did get to contribute. Also, they had this thing where Adrien’s eclectic studies would be used to have Cat Noir give Ladybug highly specific but useful information.
Basically, yeah, there were some red flags and other lesser but still worrying stuff too.

Top 5 Miraculous Episodes?
I’m going to be supremely original with this one.
1. Emotion
Everything about it is perfect. The Diamonds’ Dance. The confirmation that Felix is a mythology nerd. How similar it is to Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, because I have not forgotten my roots. Red Moon. Amelie. Snap of my fingers. The colours and the composition of the shots. Felix being absolutely terrifying. Felix being just a child. Felix being the Lucky Charm’s solution. Felix being so lonely and scared yet so willing to break the cycle of abuse once he recognises it for what it is.
It’s the episode that A. made me insane about Feligami and B. made me insane about the cousins, so you could call it my origin story. If I could change one tiny detail, it would be to give Argos a full transformation sequence — but that’s just me being obsessed!
2. Strikeback & Representation
I really can’t choose between these two.
Strikeback is so!!! Everything!!! I liked Miraculous beforehand, otherwise I wouldn’t have watched four seasons of it, but this is where the insanity began (even though the creative drive only came later). Everything happened so fast and my boy was so smart and resilient and proud of himself! That was all I needed to fall in love. And the Ladynoir of it all! This episode alone made it my favourite side of the Love Square! What an absolute game changer in every way!
But oh, Representation… I’d never felt so much anticipation for an episode before, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Felix as a less innocent, sharper, self-preserving child abuse survivor is very close to my heart, and he gets treated with the utmost compassion by the plot. The play itself was brilliant, of course, the Feligami of it all exquisite, and the construction of the episode — with Felix’s successful quest for freedom contrasting Chat Noir’s defeat against Nightormentor — is free brainworm real estate.
3. Gabriel Agreste & Pretension
Strikeback may be the moment I became insane about Felix, but Gabriel Agreste is the moment I suspected I might eventually become insane about Felix. I came into the study scene having already accepted that he couldn’t figure out Shadow Moth’s identity, that Senti-Gabriel would successfully make him doubt himself and that his akumatised form would be a massive problem for the heroes. So imagine my surprise when he said “Fuck you, actually”, pulled the cleverest stunt on a literal super villain and came out of this little misadventure even more confident in his discovery!!! All while introducing the themes of rebellion and freedom that made me go “Oh??? You’re not afraid of his threats??? You don’t need his powers??? Now you’re speaking my language.”
And Pretension! It has my favourite scene ever — Felix returning Kagami’s amok in the movie theatre, Kagami immediately using her newfound freedom to choose him, you know the drill — and the little speech about how you really shouldn’t abuse your kids, people, which lives in my mind rent-free. I think if I were to get a PhD in one episode, it would be this one… At the end of the day, Pretension all about unlearning unhealthy behaviours and loving your partner in the way they need to be loved. And isn’t it beautiful? ❤️💜

So a year or two ago I saw this amazing post on tumblr about colour symbolism in Miraculous (I really wish I could source it here but I can’t find it anywhere I am literally kicking myself right now). Anyway, it is an incredible theory and once start seeing the connections you can’t stop. The basic idea is that the some of the colours that characters wear or are associated with symbolise their general motivations. The theory focuses specifically on the colours red, white and black. The meanings kind of evolved as more people reblogged but from what I remember the basic gist is this:
Red= duty / loyalty
White= control
Black= love
I think they actually said that black was romance, but that definition is just a little too limiting in my opinion and broadening in it out allows you to make more connections. I am also broadening out red as well to include loyalty for the same reasons (besides duty and loyalty are also pretty similar, so it’s not that much of a stretch).
Anyway, I bring this up because I saw the post at some point during season 4—definitely before the release of season 5 anyway, but looking back on the latest season just made me realise that oh my god they were so right. So, I’m just going to show you some of things I’ve noticed when it comes to this theory, especially surrounding season 5. (Buckle up guys, this is gonna be a long post).
But before I get into all that, I just want to mention that the placement of the clothing also informs the meaning behind the colour. This was also mentioned in the original post too I believe, but I can’t remember exactly how it worked so I’m just gonna put my own spin on it based on what I noticed.
So when I say the placement of the clothing I’m really just talking about whether the colour is the top or bottom layer of clothing—jacket vs. T-shirt, blazer vs. shirt etc.. The bottom layer is the character’s core motive, with the top layer being more secondary. A lot of the time the secondary motive informs the core one, so it kind of becomes the means with which they achieve their core motive. For example, a character wearing a red coat with a black T-shirt could be interpreted as loyalty or duty coming from a place a love—they do what they believe is right because of the people they love etc.
Ladybug / Marinette
Ok, time to put this theory into action, and what better place to start than the main character? Ladybug’s costume is pretty straightforward: red with black spots. The red obviously represents her duty as a hero, her main motive when in costume. and the spots could either represent her love for Paris or if you’re a Ladynoir shipper, her love for Chat Noir, it could really go either way.
Her civilian outfit is where it starts to get interesting though. Marinette wears a black blazer with a white top underneath. With the white as the core motive and the black as the secondary one, this indicates love from a place of control, and this is backed up by the events of show. Marinette clearly does love Adrien but she can also be very particular about how she approaches her love. She knows every detail about him, such as the schedule she has in “Copycat”, and feels the need to control every detail when she tries to confess to him, such as Operation: Secret Garden in “Gigantitan”. This controlling nature is only solidfied in the episode “Derision” after Kim pranks her on their date. “I should’ve had a plan […] I’ll never tell another boy that I love him before I know everything about him” (11:53-12:04).
Chat Noir / Adrien
Chat Noir is also pretty simple when it comes to colour symbolism in the show. His suit is all black, indicating that his main motive is love. In earlier seasons this most likely symbolised his love for Ladybug but now that he is with Marinette we can assume that it symbolises his generally loving attitude, whether it be towards his friends, family, maybe even Paris itself.
His civilian clothing also points to this same idea, with his T-shirt being black. Adrien also has a white over shirt, but rather than this representing some need for control, I’d argue this more so symbolises Gabriel’s control over him, which of course, does inform a lot of Adrien’s actions. Gabriel’s control pushes the black down another layer—it suppresses it. Instead showing off his colours proudly like he does as Chat Noir he has to leave them cloaked under a white surface, trying to navigate his core motive of love while being unable to fully shake off the white. Think of the many times when Gabriel has kept him away from his friends, like in the episode “Bubbler” where he wasn’t allowed to have a birthday party, or in “Revolution” when Gabriel ships him off to London for the next school year.
Interestingly, this isn’t the only instance where a white top layer indicates control thrusted onto the character wearing the colour. Kagami also follows a similar pattern sporting a white blazer and a controlling mother. She also has both red and black in the bottom layers so make of that what you will.
Another thing to note is that many of Adrien’s modelling outfits are fully white, such as the one in the fragrance ad or the angel outfit in “Simpleman”, representing the complete control Gabriel has over him when he is modelling. Correct me if I’m wrong here, but the only modelling outfit that is not white (apart from the stock photos like the ones in the mansion perhaps) is the one that he wears in “Queen Wasp”. Instead of fully white this suit is fully black, and it is topped off with a black pigeon hat, a hat that Marinette, who is in love with Adrien, made. Additionally, this is the episode where Gabriel almost gives up being Hawkmoth because of how Adrien was attacked by Style Queen in the previous episode. He is less controlling of Adrien and more loving in this episode, even go so far as to hug him in his first public appearance since Emilie’s death, and the black suit reflects that.
However, the idea that Adrien’s all-white clothes represent Gabriel’s control isn’t even just limited to modelling. When Chat Noir is akumatised in “Chat Blanc” his suit also becomes fully white.
In season 5, the Alliance rings are also closely linked to the colour white. The Adrien and Kagami avatars wear all white, indicating the controlling nature of the alliance and the fact that The two of them have no control over how their image is used. Even the virtual space that the avatars exist in is an empty white void, reminiscent of the padded rooms the two are placed in during the season 5 finale, rooms which are used to confine and control the two.
The only time when the Alliance interface is not white is when it changes to red. There’s two times this has happened as far as I’m aware: in “Revelation” when Hoaxer enters the Alliance rings and feeds the people fake news, and in “Confirmation” when Gabriel creates fake footage of Ladybug and Chat Noir kidnapping Adrien and Kagami’s avatars. In both of these scenarios, someone is preying on the public’s loyalty to the alliance rings and their sense of duty to get them to do their bidding.
And look, I know I’ve been straying away a from Adrien a bit, but I also just want to mention that the colour white is often associated with the rich and powerful of Paris in general. This is most clearly seen in “Emotion”, where the VIP party’s dress code is literally all white, reflecting how all the people in that room control Paris.
Gabriel
Speaking of rich and powerful, Gabriel also draws from the colour triad. He does have a few layers that aren’t one of these three colours but his very bottom layer is a white shirt, which isn’t a surprise really, we just went over how he is controlling with both Adrien and the alliance rings. He also has a striped red tie symbolising either his loyalty towards Emilie or the fact that he believes it is his duty to bring her back to life. The white stripes also indicate control, probably to reflect the way that he will do anything in his power to bring Emilie back, like using the miraculous wish, because he is incapable of accepting that sometimes things happen beyond your control and all you can do is move on.
In season 5 he wears all white as his obsession with the wish—his means of complete control, takes over. It could also represent how he’s become even more controlling of Adrien despite pretending to be more loving, (because again, he literally ships his own son off to a different country). Interestingly, in the episode “Destruction” he is inflicted with a cataclysm, a black cataclysm, which could be a visual metaphor for his love for Emilie literally destroying him, which is a really cool in my opinion.
Lila Rossi
Lila is definitely the most interesting character to analyse under this theory, because not only do her clothes draw from the colour triad but even her name does. According to nameberry.com, Lila means night (ie black) and Rossi means red in Italian. She also wears a red cardigan with black underneath—duty or loyalty from a place of love. If we take Lila claims at face value then this makes sense, like in the episode “Chameleon”, when she catches a napkin with her sprained wrist to protect Max, all the while saying things like “I didn’t have a choice” (i.e duty) and “Why wouldn’t I Max […] you’re my friend” (i.e love) (5:40-42 and 5:47-50). But of course, Lila is a liar which means that everything from her name to even the clothes she wears is a carefully constructed illusion.
In the episode “Confrontation” it is revealed that Lila has actually been juggling two fake identities: Lila Rossi and Cerise Bianca. Now this is where it gets really interesting because Lila’s second identity also draws from the colour triad too. Cerise is a shade of red similar to that of cherries or rubies and guess what Bianca means in Italian? That’s right—white.
This can mean a few different things. Perhaps her Cerise persona is more noticeably controlling. Lila’s name directly reflected her clothing, with her first name indicating the the bottom layer (the core motive) and her second name the top layer (the means) so if we apply the same logic to Cerise then maybe her name indicates that this persona’s motives are control from a place a duty, in other words being bossy and controlling because she feels like it’s her job to lead and help everyone.
Another interpretation could be that these are Lila’s true motivations, especially with her being named after the colour white, and if you really want to stretch it, then you could also argue that the red indicates loyalty to herself; she controls everyone because it exclusively benefits her.
it could also be interpreted as somewhere in between. Instead of it being solely Cerise’s fake motivations or Lila’s true motivations it is rather a step closer to the truth. The loyalty to herself theory is, like I said, a stretch. If anything, her true motivation is probably just control for control’s sake, and in this Cerise persona her true colours are shining through a little.
I couldn’t really find a natural place to put this but I also just want to point out here that when she was akumatised into Hoaxer she still had the red and black colour scheme that she does as Lila because she’s still using the same tactics that she does as a civilian, pretending that all she does is out of love and duty. She does also however have splashes of white on her belt, tail and ends of her hair, so maybe that also symbolises her true colours showing through too.
I’m honestly curious to see if Cerise’s clothes will change in season 6 to reflect her name, especially with a lot of the other characters getting new outfits too. Either way I think it’s really interesting how both her fake identities are based off of these three colours.
The great thing about this theory is that it’s not just confined to these four characters. Plenty of more characters also wear these colours, such as Kagami, who I briefly touched on, Emilie (and Amelie by extension), Tomoe Tsurugi, even Nathalie. The only reason why I didn’t delve into these characters is because this post is getting pretty long and I think I’ve made my point, but really, I’ve barely scratched the surface here. There is so much significance with these three colours, they are literally everywhere.

HI i love your fic recs! This is gonna sound really specific but do you have any good fics about time? I'm thinking Bunnix-involved, time loops, alternate universes... it's been on my mind lately. thank you so much!
I had a lot of fun with this list! I feel like this one has been anxiously awaited since I posted about it a while back haha
Remember That Time When... by @mostlovedgirl
Twenty-two-year-old Marinette Agreste was looking forward to the anniversary trip she would be taking with her husband Adrien that weekend. Those plans are derailed when she wakes up in her old bedroom... and she’s seventeen again.
Multi-chapter. This fic is so fun, and I love the way it plays with both sides of the time travel trope. On the one hand you’ve got Adrien and Marinette suddenly transported to a future where they’re married, while in their time, they’re not together (though Marinette’s crazy in love with him of course). And on the other hand, you’ve got married Adrienette back in the past needing to pretend they’re not even together! It’s sweet and fun, and I loved seeing both how Adrienette got there, as well as what they’re like as an established couple at the same time.
A Hundred Thursdays by Midnight Musume (Peas)
Marinette is stuck repeating the same day over and over. Her friends (and especially Chat Noir) help her cope.
Two-shot. Groundhog day type fic where Marinette’s stuck in a time loop. (In the second chapter, Adrien’s the one who is stuck.) It’s extremely well executed, and I really enjoyed the Marichat dynamic, especially with how it was influenced by the interactions Marinette had (or did not have) with Adrien earlier in the day.
Clairvoyance by @whatarubberchicken
Being hit by an akuma is not usually this delightful. Or bright. Or completely eye-opening.
One-shot. This fic hits me right in the feels, with Chat Noir being transported to a perfect future where he’s married with children and so, so happy, and it’s just so beautiful. Before, of course, the akuma’s power is ended and it’s over.
Eight Years Overnight by @coffeebanana
All Adrien wanted was to finish grading papers and have a relaxing weekend with his family. He most definitely did NOT expect Bunnyx to show up and drag him eight years into the future. When Ladybug followed her husband into the future, she didn't expect to see him playing the part of the villain. She didn't expect fourteen-year-old Emma to follow her through, either. And Chat Noir from the future was wrong to think that saving his kidnapped wife would be a piece of cake the second time around.
OR: Ladynoir July with a time-travelling twist.
Multi-chapter. This fic is exactly the kind of fic I’m usually thinking of when I think of a time travel fic. It’s a little bit confusing in the way that such stories always are, but the confusion is really kept to a minimum. It’s so interesting because the love square get together is not a component of this fic, they’re married in both times! But it works so well, and the trust they have in each other in both times is a recurring theme and it’s beautiful. This is plotty and well constructed.
Why Are You Like This? by @carpisuns
An older Chat Noir shows up in the middle of a class field trip with a special mission for his younger self.
Two-shot. This is sweet, hilarious, and utterly perfect. Chat Noir meddles in the love square and it cracks me up.
A Sound of Thunder by Tempomental
“Bye-bye, little… actually, that’s your line, isn’t it? Sorry.”
Ladybug stared at the man in front of her. Tall. Shaggy, but not unkempt blond hair. Oh yeah, and he was wearing a Ladybug costume.
“Who - who are you?”
“Oh, right, sorry.” He drew himself up to his full height and proudly announced, “My name is Adrien Agreste, and I’ve come from the future to rescue you!”
Multi-chapter. Adrien also comes back from the future to help out with the ladybug miraculous. It’s extremely intense and well written and every time I thought I had spotted a problem in the writing, it turned out to be a plot element but holy shit I thought I was going to die with how intense this is. If you like plot, you will absolutely LOVE this fic.
when you weren’t mine to lose by @bugsandchatons
Change is a scary thing, especially when it feels like nothing has stayed the same.
It’s been a year since Marinette became the Guardian of the Miracle Box - a year of struggling beneath a burden she never asked for, a weight that has her leaning on her partner more and more as the hours fly by, of letting him come to her, too, when he needs a soft place to land. A year of falling for the boy who takes on the world by her side with a smile made of sunlight, and fighting the growing urge to tell him what he means to her.
After all, they’ll have time enough for that when Paris is safe.
But when the unthinkable happens, Marinette learns the tragedy of loving someone quietly, and the lines she’ll cross to save him.
Multi-chapter. This is what happens when Ladybug loses Chat Noir: she uses Hawkmoth to go back in time to save him. It hurts in all the best ways and the writing is absolutely gorgeous and somehow we still get a happy ending!

Oh, getting spicy here, eh? Let's go
Uh... they're not terribly offense.
The writing team absolutely destroyed anything I could like about her.
The ending scene in the Miraculous Movie
Season 1 probably is my favorite since it's very episodic still and I could handle the yandere shit a little easier back then. The movie Marinette was also top tier. Same with the Paris Special with Emo Marinette.
No favorite lines.
Uh, I would say Lady Noir is my favorite followed by Bug Noire second. Multimouse being third.
Look, LOOK! Lukanette. I'm sorry Adrinette fans, but the show did them absolutely dirty. I liked them somewhat in the beginning, Ladynoir was my absolute favorite version of the ship, but the show absolutely did them dirty and I can't find as much joy in seeing them together.
Brotp would definitely be here with Alya. I can see the appeal in the romantic aspect from the fandom, but I love seeing their friendship more.
No head canons
Marinette did everything wrong and got no consequences for her foul ups. When she did, they were more of a slap on the wrist. And no, I'm not counting Risk as a foul up since she didn't know that was Felix until it was too late. Her not knowing is an excuse.
I wish for a better written protagonist
Please no more Yandere Marinettte. I can't handle anymore of the cringe.
I got two words: Wasted Potential
Moronette

Hello hello! I had the pleasure of remixing things we never said by @jennagrinsoverml for the @mlsquaredance event!! The original is such delicious PRPR and if you haven't already, you should all check it out immediately!!
You can read the remix on Ao3 or under the cut. It's Ladynoir flavoured oh-shit-we-lost-our-single-shared-brain-cell-what-do-we-do-now?!
...
All About You
Summary:
Chat Noir was enjoying a perfectly pleasant rooftop picnic/movie night/oh-so-platonic date with Ladybug—until she decided to question his feelings out of nowhere. (What does she mean, when he used to be in love with her?!) It turns out they have some things to talk about.
...
“Remember when you used to think you were in love with me?”
The question barely registers at first—and it’s not because the movie projecting from Ladybug’s yo-yo onto a nearby chimney is that good. In fact, Chat Noir doesn’t even know the protagonist’s name.
All of his attention is taken up by Ladybug. By the way she sits in his lap and giggles at the film.
(Well, she was giggling. Now he realizes she’s been silent for a suspiciously long time, and he’s a little worried it’s because she noticed him sniffing her hair.
In retrospect, he’s probably had enough wine.)
He carefully sets aside the plastic cup they’ve been sharing—they’ve learned the hard way that thin-stemmed wine glasses and rooftops don’t mix—and forces his mind to properly compile the beautiful sounds that spilled from her mouth.
Somehow they make even less sense once he’s managed to decipher them.
“When I used to what?”
She scoffs. “So you’re going to pretend you didn’t used to profess your love for me three times a week?”
An icy feeling trickles through him—one he can’t quite name, but definitely doesn’t want to contemplate. He wants her to go back to watching the movie. Maybe he’ll even pay attention this time.
But when he glances back at the chimney, the credits are already flickering.
“I never said that,” he mumbles uselessly.
Ladybug gives an indignant Hmph! and starts struggling to escape from his lap. He helps her stand—hands easily steadying her thighs when she wobbles.
(She always forgets that the wine goes right to her head.
But he always remembers. He’s always there to catch her.)
After years of loving Ladybug loudly, Chat has learned the hard way—a few too many times—that he’d only lose her if he kept on like that. He’s learned to love her quietly—to be the one she depends on, to accept whatever she gives.
It’s worth it, so long as he gets to keep her in his life.
But pretend is a rather cruel word to explain the way he’s forced to constantly to shove his feelings aside every time they’re together. The way he has to ignore how his heart speeds up every time their eyes lock or their hands brush or he just remembers she exists.
“You’re not being fair,” he says. “Just because the way I feel is…inconvenient to you doesn’t make it any less real.”
Her back is turned as she kneels down to clean up their snacks—rather forcefully slapping the lid back on the spinach dip she brought—but he can hear her breath hitch. “I know that! Don’t you think I know that?!”
“Well, then—” He breaks off, wondering why he’s yelling. “Good,” he finishes lamely. “I guess we’re on the same page.”
“I guess we are,” she huffs, which only confuses him more.
(Never mind pages. He’s not even sure they’re in the same book.)
Chat climbs to his feet, dragging the blanket they’d been sitting on with him. He whips the quilt angrily in the wind, like maybe while he’s shaking off the crumbs he can also shake off how much this hurts.
It doesn’t help. If anything, the lump in his throat only grows larger as he watches Ladybug shove containers haphazardly into the picnic basket that had been so carefully arranged when she’d shown up. The fabric inside is dotted with pink hearts—which are now getting slammed around nearly as much as his heart—and it’s that tiny detail that reminds him of everything he has to lose.
(It took years to get to know Ladybug half as well as he wants to. No matter how in sync they are in battle or how well they complete each other’s jokes, Chat’s always been all too aware of the things she can’t—no, that she won’t—tell him. Surely in a city of two million, he won’t figure out who she is by learning what she studies in school.
But the hearts that line her picnic basket? Those are a memory of something she has shared with him—after laughing herself silly over his story of a recent wardrobe malfunction.
“You don’t know how to sew on a button?” she’d asked after finally catching her breath. He’d shaken his head, and she’d gone back to laughing some more.
The next time they met for patrol, she taught him how to thread a needle. He learned to stitch buttons onto scraps of fabric, poking his needle through tiny pink hearts.)
Chat takes a deep breath. No matter what she thinks, Ladybug means the world to him—and he’s fairly sure she always will. So he ignores the suffocating anger that bubbles in his chest, and he fights back the tears as he carefully aligns two corners of the blanket.
Two more folds and he’s calm enough to speak. “Ladybug…”
She ignores him, squeezing a bag of chips so hard that the bottom pops open. Its contents spill onto the roof, ready to be crushed like Chat’s spirits.
“Ladybug,” he tries again. “Please. At least tell me what I did wrong.”
That makes her feeze, fingers grazing the edge of the plastic cup he’d set aside before. It tumbles over, wine spilling across the rooftop. Her hand curls angrily around a stack of napkins. “Nothing,” she snaps. “You haven’t done a thing.”
“Well, then—”
“At all! Even after months of all this.” She waves an arm around wildly—at the disaster of wine-soaked chips and the overflowing picnic basket. “I don’t know how more obvious I could have been, and nothing.”
“And you’re…mad at me for that?”
Ladybug responds with a growl—or maybe a screech—of frustration. “No. No, I’m not mad.”
Chat knows better than to point out that her tone belies her words.
He still has no idea what she’s talking about, though he’s starting to get the sense that maybe it has something to do with how frequently they’ve been hanging out these past few months—usually at her suggestion. Perhaps she’s frustrated he hasn’t taken more initiative in helping to organize their hangouts? He’d assumed she enjoyed taking the lead—she always seemed excited to hear his opinion on all of her ideas—but it must be lots of work.
“Do you want me to bring the food next time?” he asks, kneeling down behind her. He contemplates setting a hand on her shoulder, but decides on clutching the blanket to his chest instead. “Is that it?”
Ladybug whirls around, her eyes narrowed in a way that makes him shrink back. But when they lock eyes, her entire face wilts. “You really don’t know, do you?” Her lower lip trembles. “You just don’t think of me that way at all anymore, so…it never occurred to you, what I was trying to do.”
“I guess…not? But I’d really like to understand.” He sends a hesitant smile her way. It doesn’t seem to land.
She sits back on her heels, staring at her fingers as she tugs on them. “God, I’m so stupid.”
Chat feels a twinge in his chest. “Hey, no. Don’t say that.”
“But it’s true!”
“No.” He barely notices when the blanket slips from his arms; he’s already moving to sit beside her. Never.”
She shakes her head adamantly, hiding her face in her hands. When Chat sneaks an arm around her shoulder and pulls her closer, she resists at first. But he gives another gentle tug and she all but melts into his side. He rubs her back slowly as she lets out a sob.
Her cries tug on his heartstrings, but some part of him can only feel relief—that she doesn’t hate him, and that she’s back in his arms. He leans his cheek atop her head, relishing the way her arms tighten around his waist.
“I’m sorry I snapped at you,” she sniffles eventually.
He bites his tongue before a reflexive “it’s okay” can slip out. Instead, he keeps on rubbing her back, stomach swooping when she relaxes further against him.
“I wasn’t even mad at you, I was just—I’m so mad at myself. Because it took me too long to realize what I wanted. How I felt. So, of course you’d moved on by then. And—”
Moved on?!
“—it’s really not your fault! You never did anything to lead me on or anything.”
Chat is starting to feel a little led on. There’s no way her words mean what he wants them to.
“I mean, you don’t even call me your lady anymore!”
He…doesn’t? He knows he cut back at some point—he’s never wanted her to feel uncomfortable—but he never intended to stop.
“I’ve been so completely delusional.”
“Ladybu—I mean, my lady, I think there may have been a misunder—”
“And now you’re going to hate me, and I’ll never get you to fall back in love with me, and Shadow Moth will win, and I’ll die alone, and…”
She keeps rambling on, but Chat’s lost the ability to follow. Maybe because his heart skipped a few beats too many.
He notices when she stops talking though—mostly because she pulls away and fixes him with her wide, worried, beautiful eyes.
“Chaton? Please say something.”
His mouth flops open and closed a few times—not unlike a fish—until he finally remembers how to make sounds. “I…can’t fall back in love with you.”
“O-oh.” She turns away, wiping her eyes. “I understand.”
“Hold on. I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just that—”
“No, no, no. It’s fine, really.”
She tries to stand, and Chat’s heart plummets. How can he have screwed things up again?
But this time, it seems like the universe is on his side.
(She always forgets that the wine goes right to her head.
He’s always there to catch her.)
This time, instead of steadying her, he pulls her back into his lap. Her head falls back against his shoulder with a dejected squeak.
“I’m sorry,” she whimpers.
Heart racing, he trails his hands down her arms. “I’m not.” A giddy smile sneaks onto his face. “You want me to be in love with you.”
She groans. “Look, you don’t have to make fun of me.”
A short laugh slips from his lips. He can’t help it. “That’s the last thing I’d want to do right now.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Seriously! My lady, I…” He takes a deep breath, resisting the urge to run his fingers through her hair. But he can’t think of a good reason as to why he should hold back, so he catches the ribbon on her ponytail and carefully picks at the knot. “The only reason I can’t fall back in love with you is that I never stopped loving you to begin with.”
She whips around to stare at him, hair falling loose around her shoulders. “B-but you changed! You stopped flirting when we started having date—I mean, completely platonic hangouts."
“Well, I didn’t want you to think our friendship wasn’t enough for me. Just spending more time with you meant so much, and…I was afraid I’d mess that up. In the past, I was always too much for you, so…”
Chat’s not sure which of them moves first, but suddenly their fingers lace together.
“You were never too much,” she says. “I just… I wasn’t ready.”
“And now…you are?”
“Now…” She hums softly and leans closer; her breath lands hot on his chin.
It would be so easy—just a slight tilt of his head—to have everything he’s ever wanted. She’s already closing her eyes, ready to answer his question with her lips instead of her words. Except…
“Wasn’t there some other guy?”
Chat wants to pinch himself as soon as the words slip out. Why would he bring that up now? Why tempt fate when he might finally have a chance?
But if this is finally happening, he needs to know it’s real.
Ladybug leans away. “I did. And maybe, in some ways, I still do. I mean, he’s still my friend and all, so—wait! No, this isn’t how I practiced this at all. This has nothing to do with Ad—him. It’s about you.” She pokes him in the chest, a shy smile creeping across her cheeks as her eyes drifted up to meet his. “It’s all about you.”
The breathy way those words tumble out do something to his insides. He’s tempted to ask her to repeat them, but he still has enough functioning brain cells to bite his tongue. Barely.
“What’s all about me?” he asks instead—which really isn’t much better.
Her head dips down, and he thinks he’s ruined the moment until her hand starts sliding slowly up his chest. “Everything. All the time.” She shakes her head. “I don’t know! One day…I just realized you’re the first person I think about when I wake up. And you’re the person I wish I could have beside me when I fall asleep. And—”
He cuts her off with a kiss. It’s on her temple, the only spot he can reach from this angle, but it’s enough to render her speechless. Her head snaps up. Their eyes meet. And Chat has only a split second to appreciate the freckles dotting her cheeks before he’s wondering how her lip gloss can taste like chocolate. And then he’s not wondering anything at all.
There’s no room for questions when she’s the answer to everything.
“Wow,” she whispers when they finally pull apart. Then she claps a hand over her mouth like she’s horrified she said that out loud.
Chat feels giddy. He feels stupid.
Later, he’ll blame the lack of oxygen for his next words.
“Hey,” he whispers. “Remember when you used to think I wasn’t in love with you?”
Ladybug smacks him on the shoulder. Then she kisses him again.

Chapter 4: Ladynoir is Canon
“Oh my god! I can’t believe you!” Ladybug yells, her arms crossed.
Chat laughs, and sweeps her to the side of a beam of light. “Focus on the akuma, m’lady! That one almost got you.”
Ladybug harrumphs, and her yoyo shoots out. “Stop being so distracting then!”
Chat’s grin grows two fold on his face. “Oh? Is my lady distracted by meow ?”
Alya’s phone is trained on the exchange, not missing a moment. Something has definitely shifted between the two of them, no matter how much Marinette denies it.
“Is it just me, Ladybloggers, or is Ladybug acting a little smitten these days?”
Nino, beside her, snorts, but refrains from commenting. She grins at him, careful to keep her phone camera on the superhero duo.
Marinette might kill her for adding fuel to the rumors, but Alya would be teasing her a ton later in person anyway. Marinette probably thought she was being subtle, but the girl didn’t know the meaning of the word. Not when it came to falling in love.
Alya loved that about her.
Flirting banter aside, they work in tandem more smoothly than ever and the akuma is defeated and purified in less than two minutes.
The two heroes turn towards each other for their traditional fist bump. Alya always loves to catch this part - even though it’s always the same. There’s something so powerful about acknowledging each other’s support every time, about never taking it for granted.
Only when their hands meet there’s no fist bump at all.
Ladybug pulls Chat Noir to her and whirls him around into a dip. Then, she’s kissing him senseless.
Alya almost drops her phone.
“Nino!” she hits him in the shoulder. “Am I seeing what I think I’m seeing?”
Nino nods rapidly, his own face lighting up in a smile. “Yup! Definitely babe!”
“Come on!” She can corner Marinette later for details, but that runs the risk of letting Nadia Chamack get the first interview, which, as the founder of the Ladybug, Alya absolutely cannot let happen.
“Ladybug! Chat Noir!” she calls, running up to them with her video still rolling. “That was quite the display! Are the two of you dating?”
Alya half expects Marinette to glare at her, but she doesn’t. Instead, she turns an absolutely besotted love sick smile towards her partner.
“Actually, no. We’re married.”
Alya drops her phone. “What?! Ma– Ladybug! What?!”
She sweeps up her phone off the ground and keeps recording.
Ladybug’s fingers are interlaced with Chat’s as they stare into each other’s eyes waaay too sweetly.
Chat Noir turns to her first. “Actually, today’s our anniversary!”
Ladybug’s face dissolves into total confusion. “What? No, it’s not.”
Chat Noir turns back to her. “Three years, six months,” he tells her, kissing her knuckles of their joined hands, “to the day.”
Alya shakes her head. That doesn’t make sense! They haven’t even known each other for that long. Alya’s been listening to the blow by blow of Marinette’s love life since they became friends.
But Ladybug’s face melts into goo. “That is not a thing.”
He grins, and kisses her nose. “It is now.”
Pink blooms across Marinette’s face. “Gah! How am I ever going to compete with you romantically?!” she demands.
Chat Noir smiles and it’s like the rest of the world doesn’t exist for him. Not the akuma victim, not Alya or Nino, or her phone still recording this exchange.
He brings her hand up to his face, and deposits the gentlest kiss. “M’lady, it’s not a competition, but if it was, you’ve already won. At least in my book.”
Ladybug surges up to her tiptoes and kisses him again. The kiss does not stay chaste.
Nino whistles.
Alya bites her tongue on all the questions she wants to demand of her best friend for the sake of the video.
When they pull apart, gasping, Alya lets herself speak.
“You heard it here first, folks. Looks like Ladynoir is canon!”
Ladybug and Chat Noir both giggle, and wave to the camera.
Alya grins. She has never seen Marinette quite this happy – and she’s seen Marinette positively giddy during a sugar high after Adrien told her he liked her outfit.
She supposes her curiosity can wait.
Marinette is suspiciously hard to get ahold of for the whole next day.
Alya: You had better call me back before tomorrow! I’m going crazy, girl! You can’t just drop that on me in front of all of Paris and expect me not to slip up! I’m about to burst! And the only person I can talk to about this is Nino!  And he can’t keep a secret! Call me back!!
Her phone immediately buzzes in her hand. She answers immediately.
“Just come over,” Marinette invites. “I’m home. We can have a sleepover!”
Less than an hour later Alya has a pillow hugged to her chest across from Marinette on her bed. Marinette tells her about an akuma that hit both Ladybug and Chat Noir with Jubilation an entire six months prior. Six months . Marinette kept this from her for six months!
“Three years?!” Alya echoes. “You dreamed up a life together for three years?”
Marinette nods.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Alya’s not upset. She is confused.
Marinette glances away. “I don’t know. It felt too fragile. Like an alarm clock would go off and I’d wake up and it’d all be a dream.”
“If you had told me it might have started to feel real!”
Marinette smiles. “Yeah, you’re right. But it also felt so unfair because he can’t talk about it with anyone in his life.”
Alya’s chest clenches. That would be so hard.
Marinette’s smile grew threefold. “But I feel so free now that we’re public. Before, we could only see each other once in a while. It was so hard to pretend that he wasn’t part of my life. And I still can’t talk to anyone about it as myself.”
“Besides me,” Alya insists.
Marinette nods. “Besides you.”
Alya scoots forward on the bed eagerly until there’s no space between their knees anymore.
“So tell me everything.”
Marinette giggles. “Well, so apparently, Chat Noir’s family owns an unused apartment in downtown Paris.”
“Unused?!” Alya repeats. How wealthy did he have to be to just have an apartment lying around.
Marinette nods. “Uh huh. Chat proposed that we live there together whenever we could get away. So, one day a week, that’s what we do.”
“Oh my god! Girl!”
Sabine slides the white cardboard box across the counter. “Can I get you anything else?”
The customer smiles. “No, thank you. That will be all.”
The bell doorbell rings, signaling the arrival of more guests.
“Thank you! Come again!” Sabine calls after the customer.
Everyone in the small bakery front turns and gasps. It’s none other than Ladybug and Chat Noir who have arrived. They hang back from the counter, discussing the menu over one another’s shoulders. Sabine can’t help the smile that blooms across her face at how comfortable they look standing side by side even with all the extra attention.
Taking advantage of the distraction caused by the presence of two superheroes in the dining area, she pokes her head around the back. Her husband is folding a rectangle of dough for tomorrow’s batch of croissants.
“Tom, they’re here again.”
He looks up with a huge grin. “Have they ordered yet?”
“Not yet.”
He always makes a point of checking in on the heroes himself. She thinks giving them special attention is his way of thanking them for purifying his akuma not once, but twice.
“And have you seen Marinette?” he asks. She has grown scarce as of late.
She shakes her head. “Not today, but I’m less worried now. She’s been far more energetic and upbeat in the last two weeks or so.”
She steps back into the showroom, behind the counter. “What can I get you?” she asks the next customer.
She carries out the order automatically.
“Ladybug! Chat Noir!” she greets as they step forward. “Always lovely to see you! What can I get you?”
Since the two heroes started coming in regularly just over two weeks ago, Chat Noir has always ordered the same thing: a cheese danish, a salmon quiche, and a single passionfruit macaron that Tom only started adding to the regular menu when he learned it was the hero’s favorite flavor. Ladybug is less predictable, often selecting the special, but the girl seems to have an eye for which items are the freshest and orders those.
“Mme. Cheng! You are looking radiant as always,” Chat Noir greets. Ladybug smiles at him, pink dusting her cheeks.
Sabine’s chest floods with warmth at the sight. She just loves young love. There’s something so pure about it.
Once they order, they settle into two seats by the window. The same seat they always choose if it’s open. Sabine wonders if they choose that seat to advertise for the bakery intentionally.
Tom delivers their orders to them a few minutes later. “Can I get you anything else? On the house.”
Chat Noir only lets Tom and Sabine treat them when Ladybug pressures him into letting them taste test their new pastries in exchange for honest feedback.
Ladybug turns to him, her arms shooting out to the side the same way Marinette’s do when she gets excited. “M. Dupain! Can you convince my idiot boyfriend that marmite frosting on fruit would be absolutely atrocious?! That it needs to be a marshmallow and cream cheese mixture!”
Tom laughs with his whole belly. “You sound like my daughter. I do use a marshmallow-cream cheese mixture on many of my desserts, but I’ll also have you know the finest delicacies often come from unconventional experiments.”
“What?! Traitor!” Ladybug squawks.
Chat Noir bursts into laughter.
“Anything else?”
“Would Marinette happen to be here today?” Chat asks.
Tom shakes his head. “Sorry to disappoint. I think she is out with friends at the moment.”
Chat Noir literally wilts in place. Ladybug glances away before turning back to them again.
“Maybe we’ll get lucky another day, Chaton. We’ll just have to keep trying.”
“We’re going where?” Nino asks his girlfriend. He had to have heard her wrong.
“To dinner, with Ladybug and Chat Noir,” she says again.
“Is this in an interview?”
She laughs. “No, we’re just going over there for dinner as their friends.”
Their friends?! Like sure, they are friends in the sense that they have stood back to back against hordes of akumas on more than one occasion. You can’t depend on each other in violent and life threatening situations and not come out the other side as friends.
But they had never just hung out. They don’t really know each other, like, as people.
Which Nino is completely on board to change! Absolutely! One hundred and ten percent.
And he’s also super super intimidated by them. This isn’t just anyone. This is Ladybug and Chat Noir .
“Wait. Wait. Where is there?”
“Their apartment.”
“They have an apartment?!”
Ladybug and Chat Noir had an apartment. A really nice apartment on the top floor in the expensive part of downtown Paris.
“Rena! Carapace!” It’s absolutely surreal to be called that while Nino’s wearing an ordinary blue graphic tee and his usual red hat. “We’re so glad you could make it!” Chat greets with a beaming smile and open arms like they’re old friends.
Chat Noir’s arms clap around his back.
“H-hey mec! How’s it going?” Nino stammers.
“Great! Great! Come in! Come in!” Chat enthusiastically herds them inside into the apartment.
The place is waaay too fancy with expensive rugs and antique furniture that do not match Ladybug or Chat Noir’s aesthetic in any way as far as Nino can tell. And yet, they both are super comfortable in the space as they give them the tour of the four bedroom flat. Alya’s jaw drops at the spacious kitchen with an entire wall of pantry cupboards, generous marble counter tops and an island with a stainless steel grill on one side.
“Girl! You have to let me use this kitchen. My mom would be so jealous!” Alya exclaimed.
Ladybug laughed. “Let’s do it!”
They have family pictures of the two of them on every wall, just like his nana. Like, they live here.
He frowns. How old are they? He had always assumed they were about the same age as him.
Twenty minutes later, Nino is more confident than ever that he’s fallen into some kind of twilight zone. He’s sitting across a polished mahogany dining room table from Ladybug and a baby doll that is sitting in a high chair. An actual doll with a mop of dark hair and plastic eyes that stare blankly into space. Nino wants to ask, but Alya hasn’t said anything, and he always follows her lead. So he ignores the doll.
Ladybug pours sparkling water into crystal flutes that are so nice that if Nino hawked them he could probably pay for his parents’ rent for two months. She and Alya chatter about potential future dishes they might try making in the ridiculously nice ladynoir kitchen.
Chat Noir brings out a quiche lorraine that he apparently made completely by himself and is quickly cutting it into pieces to serve to each of them on porcelain plates. He even cuts an incredibly thin slice that he places in front of the doll.
“This is delicious, Chat Noir!” Alya says. “Ladybug says you’ve improved a lot in a short time. I never would have known you were a beginning chef from this!”
“Thanks, Rena!”
Alya elbows Nino, and he startles into better posture, glancing between the two heroes who are both looking at him expectantly.
Nino hesitates for only a moment before he takes a bite.
“Do you like it?” Chat asks eagerly.
“It’s great!” He takes another bite to avoid having to elaborate. Not that it isn’t good! It is! But Nino doesn’t know how to talk about food in any kind of classy way. Not like Alya.
But apparently it doesn’t matter because Chat Noir beams like Nino had just told him he won a national cooking championship.
Alya shakes her head in what he knows is fond exasperation.
Conversation flows between the other three like they really are just old friends, and Nino doesn’t know what to do with himself, still worried about using the wrong fork, which is ridiculous because there’s only one, but isn’t that a wealthy person thing? Nino feels like he should know with Adrien as his best friend, but he had been banned from the Agreste mansion so early in their friendship he hasn’t had any practice.
After dinner, Chat Noir continues to share things about the apartment. Little things he’s done to make it a more comfortable space. Talks about what Ladybug has been teaching him in the kitchen with so much excitement and pride.
Ladybug and Alya get along like they’re life long friends. And Chat Noir is being insanely friendly specifically to him, the guy who thought Chat Noir had tried to steal his girlfriend.
Like an idiot.
“Mec, can I ask you a question?”
Chat Noir beams at him. “What’s up?”
“Why are you being so nice? Why are you sharing all this with me? ”
“Well, apparently Ladybug and I cannot learn each other’s identities. That means I can’t bring her into my civilian life. I can’t introduce her to my friends or anyone. And it’s been driving me crazy!”
Nino tries to imagine not being able to talk about Alya with his family or with Adrien. He doesn’t think he would be able to do it.
“That sounds really hard.”
Chat nods. “So I guess I want to share this part of my life with the people that I can.” Chat shoulder bumps him. “And you are my friend, right?”
Chat bites his lower lip, like Nino’s potential answer could wreck him.
Which is wild .
“Yes!” Nino blurts. “As long as you see me that way. I know I wasn’t exactly–”
Chat puts a hand on his shoulder and offers a disarming smile. “It’s fine. Promise.”
Nino smiles back, feeling the last of his nerves fade. “What’s with the creepy doll?” Nino asks without thinking.
Chat bristles like an angry cat. “She’s not creepy!”
Nino throws his hands up in surrender.
Chat relaxes. “Her name is Emma. She… she was our daughter in our dream.”
“D-daughter?!” Nino echoes. “Wait! Dream?! Back up, mec! I’m so lost.” But he suddenly wanted to understand.
Chat smiles softly. “There was an akuma with the power of jubilation. Ladybug and I got hit together. We were trapped in a dream together that showed us the future we both wanted. We lived years together. And then, we had to wake up.”
“Fuck, mec.”
“Yeah.”
The camera shot over Ladybug and Chat Noir sitting side by side on a rooftop, eating ice cream, probably from Andre’s Ice Cream Stand if Gabriel had to guess.
“Ladybug and Chat Noir have announced that they’re going to renew their wedding vows later early this fall,” the voice of Nadia Chamack announces. “They plan to invite all former akuma victims. I for one am delighted to honor their relationship that has always resulted in the teamwork that has kept all of us safe from Monarch.”
Gabriel scowls at the screen as the report continues.
It was especially grating how often the two heroes were about, and how seamless their teamwork had become against his akumas since they had come together romantically.
“They’re not even old enough to be married,” he grumbles.
“You don’t know that,” Daizzi insists from her glass cage.
“They’re on timers!” Gabriel snaps back.
“They can’t get married legally without revealing their names anyway.” Perhaps they would get married as their civilian selves. He should have Nathalie look into all marriages a month before and after the event and see if she could find any suspects.
“They can get married in their hearts!” Daizzi coos with her front paws clasped together and her head cocked to the side. “They deserve that much happiness!”
“Silence!” Gabriel roars. He doesn’t care about Ladybug and Chat Noir’s happiness, but they were foolish to announce their wedding date to all of Paris. He will be able to use the event to corner them once and for all.

HELLO PERSON WHO DEFINITELY DIDNT REBLOG THAT ASK GAME JUST BECAUSE I WANTED TO ASK QUESTIONS HAHAHA NO DEFINITELY THAT WAS NOT ABOUT ME
💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy? (is this like asking you which is your favorite child)
🎭What genre of writing comes easiest to you? (hee hee it doesnt just have to be about fanfiction either !!)
🙌What's a line or paragraph of yours that you're proud of? (your writing is so beautiful if someone else already asked you this PLEASE still answer it again with another line or paragraph 🥺 I'm begging)
🍎What's something you learned while researching for a fic? (I KNOW you look up and learn lots of things while writing)
⏳If you could go back in time and tell your younger writer self something, what would it be? (🥺🥺 you always have such insight)
HI PERSON I DEFINITELY DIDNT REBLOG THIS FOR I LOVE YOU AHDJSJS
💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?
like poles of a magnet for SURE. i adore that fic. im not really sure why im so attached to it but it's really my baby. i love it so much
🎭What genre of writing comes easiest to you?
oh youre gonna think im so lame. it's essay writing. ahdjsjdkaksk. i think i told you before but i write book reviews for every book i read and my writing feels so Natural then because it's like. every line has a purpose to prove my point about the book. whenever im feeling rusty with narrative writing i find myself telling myself 'okay pretend this is an essay and this whole story is trying to prove your thesis about the characters' ahdjsj
🙌What's a line or paragraph of yours that you're proud of?
bren 🥹 ily. my hanahaki wip is really fun and i feel like has a lot of good writing because it really demands a lot of descriptiveness. i have this section when adrien sees gabriel for the first time in a while that i kept scrolling up and rereading
He knows, logically, that this is his father. You can't forget a face like that, the face you searched for in vain at every fencing tournament, piano recital, fashion gala that you knew full well he hadn’t attended but you were tired and wanted an adult to hold your hand and guide you around the crowds.
It is that face. But a mimicry of it, like a portrait with the wrong proportions.
He’s gaunt — it’s the first word that comes to mind. His eyes sit deep in their sockets beneath his glasses, jaw a sharp trapezoid attached to his cheeks. It’s not just a matter of losing weight over the months — which, even if it was, would be a surprising deviation from the seventy-five kilos he had not shifted a decimal of a gram from in thirty years. It’s everything else, the biology hidden behind the layers of perfectly-tailored clothing, and well-combed hair, and skin, although pristine, textured like paper over the canvas of his skull.
🍎What's something you learned while researching for a fic?
did i ever tell you about how when i went to paris last year i literally knew where everything was by arrondissements because ive searched them up so many times for ml fics. i think it was even specifically rue lepic that i remember the most because i once wrote about ladynoir patrolling around there and it turned out to be the road right next to my hotel (yes, we got a hotel in pigalle, my paris knowledge did not supply me with what exactly pigalle is known for,)
⏳If you could go back in time and tell your younger writer self something, what would it be?
literally not to lose that unwarranted confidence i had. at age eleven i was pounding out 50k+ word multichapter fics for my first fandom and like. the plots are so questionable. but when i reread them now im genuinely impressed at the quality of writing i had at that age. i think as i hit 13/14 i went through that phase where i was like ohhh my god i was sooo embarrassing when i was a kid and that insecurity really hindered my writing progress! i think creativity needs you to be unapologetic and cringe. that's when the best stuff is made because it's Real
i love you bren!!!

Çan you help me putting into words why it bothers me so much that Cat Noir only started being treated more respectfully and less aggressive by Marinette once she fell in love with him in the lightning moment at the very end of season 4?
Obviously, it's because he should have been worthy of her meeting such regular standards even WITHOUT being in love with him. The implication that she'd still be treating him worse in s5 if she hadn't gotten a crush on him are pretty damn ugly and the show does nothin to rlly imply otherwise with how LadyNoir started regressin again after Kwamis Choice.
But it doesn't feel like that's all I'm bothered by. There's something more interwoven in this that's bothering me too but I can't quite grasp what it is.
It definitely has something to do with how Marinette goes about her romantic feelings for Cat. I can never shake of the feeling that I don't like seeing her go about it the way she does because it feels like she's not actually in love with HIM but the comfort she gets out of him without asking twice no matter how badly she treats him. She's still treating him like a doll and that's... yeah....
Do you get what I mean? I'm not sure if it's EXACTLY that, but somewhere along those lines lies my problem and I can't quite figure it out. Any ideas?
I think it's because it's more of a trauma response?
Like it.
It's not /intentional/ on Marinette's part, even if it is a dick move.
But with all the shit going on, she's looking at Chat who is the one person who has proven over and over again that no matter how much she fucks up or how badly she treats him, he's here to stay and adore her and give her encouragment.
And after fucking up royally by letting Felix trick her, by letting Hawkmoth get all the Miraculous, by failing again and again with Adrien, by being unable to deal with Lila and Chloé, and every other minor or major fuck up.
She's mixing a need for comfort and reassurance with her pre-existing crush on Chat, and because she doesn't think that maybe Chat might have some reservations of his own or have changed his mind in the time between, she assumes he's 100% dtf still and skips over any discussion of the situation (how her feelings shifted, if he's still into her like that, anything that might reveal that this is a trauma response, etc.) and jumps right into the idea of being all in love and how he'd definitely return any feelings she expresses.
And this is yet another thing in this show that would be absolutely goddamn fascinating to explore, but is treated completely at face value of just 'oh she loves Chat now and is totally confident flirting with him'.

SHDJWJSJWJ your second to last reblog, the one about Adrien fall in love with Marinette seemingly out of nowhere, is the reason I ship LadyNoir before it become a tragedy. Ladynoir may not know each other identity, but they're the side of love square that actually has the most ship potential to be canon because of their chemistry. They're (were?) at least a friend who frequently hang out when not fighting while Adrinette is the most undeveloped next to Ladrien.
The Puppeteer 2 should NOT be the episode where Adrien fall in love with Marinette because it is the episode where he JUST FOUND OUT MARINETTE NEVER HATE HIM ALL THIS TIME AFTER THE GUM INCIDENT. They never even talk because Marinette always so tongue tied around him and for him to suddenly "Oh I fell in love with this girl I hardly ever talk to" is definitely weird.
Sure he's the type who would latched into people who loves him because he's so deprived of it for so long but it still doesn't make senses for him to fall in love just like that. Adrigami is even make more senses than Adrinette and they don't even last long. 💀💀💀
Exactly! I really don't understand why Adrien fell in love with Marinette. It just came outta nowhere and suddenly she's all he talks about anymore. And yeah, Puppeteer 2 being the scene where he fell in love with her is clearly a last minute retcon the writers made because they heard the criticism levelled against that scene. Like, yeah, some loud people yelled about it being creepy and dumb shit like that, but that doesn't mean that writers had to abandon character consistency to stick it to them. Adrien ends Puppeteer 2 by telling Marinette about the girl he's in love with, and they both were nothing but awkward during the actual scene. By all accounts, it makes no sense.
And don't get me started on how this season destroyed Ladynoir. I can 100% understand Marinette falling in love with Chat Noir more than I can understand Adrien falling in love with Marinette. Yeah, he knows she's nice and sweet and kind, but he doesn't know her. She's not his close friend. Ladynoir (pre-season 4 at least) know each other well. They know each other, and they know what exactly it is that they don't know about each other, and they're okay with it. And it's so weird that Adrienette became canon because... Marinette doesn't know Adrien. She only began to understand that he wasn't just a perfect person in Risk, and suddenly they're together? I don't buy it.
In fact, you're right about Kagami knowing Adrien better, because Kagami knew from the beginning that Adrien wasn't perfect, and that how he presented himself wasn't who he really was. Marinette didn't and only figured it out because he told her, and the show now wants us to believe that she's totally so special for understanding him like no other. Sorry, I don't believe it.
All this to say that you're so right, anon. Thank you for your ask!
