Ok but just a question for my OFMD besties (because I have genuine confusion, not trying to insult or anything)

But why is the ship name for Oluwande and Jim TealOranges. Don't get me wrong, it works and is awesome and creative. But isn't a ship name meant to mush the names or at least something referring to the identities of both parties? Teal is Jim's favourite colour and Oranges are Jim's motif. And as much as I love Jim - where's olu?

sadly the relationship dynamic between zheng and jim needs to be pretty much invented from scratch but the chemistry IS 100% there in canon despite the studio butchering the polycule arc and i say this bc when jim was setting up a date for zheng and olu they told her “olu is rlly into you but jsyk me and him are a package deal” and zheng (who as far as we know was pretty much meeting jim for the first time) looked at them and said “hmmm not a dealbreaker”

lucius and pete are getting married; ed and stede are actually experiencing life as a couple - kissing, taking it slow, holding hands, negotiating boundaries; jim has a boyfriend and girlfriend who might also be each other's boyfriend and girlfriend (it remains to be seen!); and roach acknowledges frenchie's beautiful body.

please, i am begging, no more "canyon vs gentlebeardie" rhetoric. they are a small, often cruel, subgroup within the fandom. even using "gentlebeardie" unironically is giving them way more credit than they deserve. it's not an equal balance! these aren't even ship wars!!!

(it was canyon who came up with the term "gentlebeardie" by the way. or as I like to call it, "fan of our flag means death.")

this show is a romantic comedy. the show is gentlebeard. if you're able to dislike the main characters and play in your sandbox without mucking up the public spaces for the rest of us, great! but the vast, vast, vast majority of us love *the main ship that the whole show is based around*

tealoranges fans didn't start The Orange Ravine. room people fans didn't start The Keep Out Brigade. only one group did that, and chose a name that specifically separates themselves from the rest of us.

if you're canyon and you're reasonable, cool! if you're not and you're friends with canyonites, groovy! but no more us vs them. it legitimizes the hateful space they take up in this fandom as if they're enough of a majority to have equal weight in their shit opinions.

it was canyonites who sent death threats to David after s2. it is canyonites who stick around and spew hatred for the show a year after it's been over. it was proto-canyonites who chose to woobify an antagonist rather than reflect on some iffy choices they were making re: racism.

it is not us vs them. it is them against the fandom.
