Without any hesitation, he nodded. There was no point in lying now, not after everything they had done to get Hannah back. And, even if it bothered him a little, Barbara had won his trust.
âA penny for your thoughts.â The hacker asked, seeing the confusion in her eyes.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âIt's a long story.â
âI have time.â She crossed her arms over her chest, waiting.
Jake took a deep breath to calm himself. They definitely didn't have time. However, he knew he would need to do his best to make her trust him again.
âLong story short, an old alert from Nym-0s showed results yesterday saying that you bought a plane ticket to Switzerland. Since the airport was close to Duskwood, I thought I'd better investigate.â
âHave you been following me since New York?â
âNot exactly, I bought a nonstop flight from Tokyo to Zurich.â
âWhy didn't you tell me who you were when we bumped into each other at the airport?â
He hated the fact that his tone was more hurt than angry. Jake opened his mouth to apologize, then closed it. Looking over her shoulder, he noticed the presence of a hooded figure standing in front of the open door of the chinese restaurant, hunching his shoulders against the pouring rain.
Barbara's cell phone immediately started ringing with a call. Frowning, she reached for the device inside her bag, and Jake didn't need to understand portuguese to know what was written on the screen.
âUnknown number?â
âYes.â She lifted her head, meeting Jake's eyes.
âGreat.â He said ironically, taking the cell phone from her hand and sliding his finger to the left to reject the call. âCome on, I'll explain everything to you on the road.â
âAll right.â Barbara answered, allowing Jake to lead the way. âBut if you're lying about who you are, I'll break your nose.â
âIt's fair.â
The hacker kept walking , and she ran to keep up with him, dodging a puddle of water. Two minutes later, they stopped in front of a gray Mercedes-Benz crowned with a red convertible roof parked behind the Gates Hotel.
âPlease tell me itâs not stolen.â
âIt's not stolen!â Jake looked at her offended, opening the passenger door.
âSorry! It's just that in my mind you were poor. Which, when you think about it, doesn't make sense, right? How would you do everything you do without money?â
âYou are impossible, Barbara.â He shook his head in disbelief.
âI can't be impossible, Jake, I exist.â She replied, rolling her eyes theatrically. âI think you meant that I'm unbelievable.â
âGet in the car straight away.â He ordered, but he was smiling, his eyes filled with something like pleasure.
âI have some questions.â Barbara announced when they stopped at a red light.
âOf course you have.â Jake smiled amusedly, drumming his fingers on the steering wheel.
âEarlier, at the airport, was our meeting on purpose?â
âYes. I couldn't risk my position by tracking you via cell phone so I had to be creative.â
âSomething tells me you're the type to put trackers in people's favorite coat pockets.â She was surprised when he didn't deny it. âSeriously?â Barbara scoffed, rubbing her hands down her arms.
âThat worked, didn't it?â He said, undoing his seat belt. âHere, you must be cold.â
Before Barbara could object, Jake took off the leather jacket he was wearing and handed it towards her.
âThank you, Jake.â She accepted the offer, her cheeks blushing beautifully as she quickly looked away from the defined muscles that were marked by the white t-shirt.
âYou're welcome.â He looked straight ahead again, covering his mouth with the back of his left hand to hide a smile of pure satisfaction.
He looked straight ahead again, covering his mouth with the back of his left hand to hide a smile of pure satisfaction.
âWere you in Tokyo this whole time?â Barbara questioned, placing the jacket over her shoulders.
âTokyo, New Delhi, Manila... I needed to keep myself busy so I didn't think about you too much.â
âI'm unforgettable, aren't I?â
âToo unforgettable for your own good.â He agreed, replacing his belt and accelerating the car to get them moving again.
She sighed loudly.
âYeah, I guess that explains why the FBI won't leave me alone.â
âWhat?â
âYou have no idea why I'm here, do you?â
âConsidering who I saw at the chinese restaurant, I think I might have an idea.â
âThey sent some messages yesterday, inviting me to that same restaurant we talked about last time. The writing was very similar to yours, but it wasn't the same.â
âYou knew it wasn't me and you came anyway?â
âWe had an agreement, and as a future lawyer, I couldn't let them get away with this so easily.â
âWhat was your plan?â He waited for an answer, but Barbara just shrugged. âWhat? Didn't you have one?â
âWe brazilians work better under pressure.â
Jake had to stop himself from giving her an irritated look.
âWell, at least this time the FBI is innocent.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âOld habits never die, right? I figured something was wrong when you didn't go directly to Duskwood, so I accessed the security cameras around the hotel and watched the footage from the past two days.â
âDid you find anything?â
âNothing too out of the ordinary, but there was one guy who caught my attention. I think I've seen him before. Anyway, I've run his face through facial recognition software and will have confirmation by the end of the night.â He met her eyes, his expression becoming serious. âBarbara, do you understand howâŠâ
âStupid to come here alone without knowing what I would face? Yes, the reality is starting to knock. In my defense, I would never imagine that someone from the outside could have access to our conversations.â
âBreaking into the FBI database is complicated, but not impossible. This guy was supposed to be looking for information about me and ended up finding you along the way. I'm sorry for bringing you into this.â
She made a nonchalant gesture, dismissing his apologies.
âYou're only here because I was impulsive and played my role as a decoy very well, so I think we can say we're even.â
âI will always be in your debt.â Jake declared softly, weaving through traffic with ease.
The rest of the trip flew by, and the next thing he knew, he was parking near the Aurora's curb.
âWhat are we doing here?â Barbara looked at him uneasily, her voice sounding louder.
âI need to drop you off somewhere safe before I go back to get my gear from the hotel I'm staying at.â
âA bar is the last place I would think of, I have to admit.â
Jake snorted.
âAs much as you approve, we only came here to get Jessica's address.â
âI thought you gathered information on all of us when Hannah was kidnapped.â
âI did, but Jessica moved out a few months after Richy got arrested. And since the FBI is monitoring activity around your friends' digital data, I'm forced to do this the hard way.â
âYou mean... Talking?â
âTalking to Phil.â
She stifled a laugh.
âYou can wait in the car if you want.â
âI'm not leaving you alone with this guy.â He rolled his eyes, stepping out into the drizzle that was decreasing with each second.
âIn that case, why not go to Lilly or Dan?â Barbara commented, carefully slamming the car door. âI'm sure it would be less unpleasant for you.â
âI don't want others to know I'm in town.â Jake said, stopping beside her under the bar's canopy. âNot yet.â
âYou're avoiding your sisters, aren't you?â
âIt is complicated.â
âI know it's none of my business, but they'd be happy to hear from you. Especially Lilly.â
âSince when have you been Lilly's defender?â
âBelieve me, I'm as surprised as you are.â Barbara laughed, brushing an invisible speck of dust off her dress. âHow do I look?â
Jake analyzed her from head to toe for a few moments, seeing the way Barbara's hair fell over her arm in messy locks, how her smudged mascara highlighted the beauty of her light brown eyes, and how her dress, almost completely dry, outlined each centimeter of her body.
âBeautiful.â
âI'm serious, Jake!â
âMe too.â He smiled adoringly, intertwining his fingers with hers. âCome on, I don't want to prolong this any longer than necessary.â

Driver of the day | C. Leclerc
Summary: Charles is asked to pick up the little sister of his best friend at the airport.
Charles Leclerc drummed his fingers against the steering wheel, his sunglasses shielding him from the Riviera's afternoon sun. Theo, one of his best friends, sat beside him, scrolling through his phone with a bored expression, occasionally glancing up at the chaos of Nice Airportâs Kiss and Ride.
âRemind me why weâre doing this again?â Theo asked, flicking through his notifications. âThere are better things to do than standing here unnecessarily long.â
âBecause her brother asked,â Charles replied without looking over.
Theo snorted. âRight, and when he asks, you jump. Got it.â
Charles didnât bother responding, his attention shifting to the waiting crowd. âHe said she would be standing near the main pickup area.â
Theo squinted through the windshield, his eyes scanning the line of travellers, some were leaving, others arrived. âWhat does she even look like now? Itâs been, what, four years?â
Charles shrugged. âSame as before, I guess. Short, shy, always in oversized dresses or black clothing...â
âAnd braces,â Theo added with a grin. âDonât forget the braces.â
They both laughed, their shared image of Y/n frozen in the awkward teenage years when they teased her relentlessly. But then Theo straightened, leaning closer to the window. âWait... oh, shit, is that her?â
Charles frowned, following Theoâs gaze. His grip on the wheel loosened as his eyes landed on a woman standing by a suitcase. She was polished, confident, elegant, and nothing like the Y/n they remembered. âHoly shit, indeed,â he muttered.
Theo leaned back, shaking his head in disbelief. âNo way. Thatâs not her. Thatâs... someone else. Has to be.â
âSheâs standing exactly where your brother said she would be,â Charles said, his voice quieter now.
Theo grinned, recovering quickly. âWell, if itâs not her, at least we are about to make a strangerâs day.â He rolled down the window and leaned out, his smirk wide. âNeed a taxi to Monaco?â
The woman turned toward them, and her expression shifted from confusion to surprise to annoyance as recognition flickered across her face.
âYep, thatâs her,â Charles said under his breath, pulling the car into park and stepping out.
Y/nâs voice carried as she looked at them. âWhat are you two doing here? Whereâs my brother?â
Charles grinned, slipping his sunglasses up onto his head. âSomething came up. He sent us instead.â
Theo was already out of the car, circling to grab her suitcase. âAnd lucky for us, too. Although... we almost didnât recognise you.â
Charles nodded, his grin turning a touch softer as he studied her. âWe were expecting the old Y/n.â
âThe braces. The dresses,â Theo chimed in, shaking his head in mock disbelief.
âNot... this,â Charles finished, gesturing toward her with a vague wave of his hand.
Y/n raised an eyebrow, her tone sharp. âThis?â
Theo smirked. âYou know, the whole âlooking like you just walked off a runwayâ thing.â
Charles chuckled as he opened the back door for her. âIgnore him. Heâs not used to surprises.â
Y/n sighed, brushing past them to climb into the car. âAnd I see you two havenât changed at all.â
Theo hoisted her suitcase into the trunk, laughing. âStill bossy. Yep, itâs definitely her.â
As they returned to the car and Charles merged into traffic, Theo twisted in his seat, looking back at her. âSo, whatâs Madrid been like? Because, clearly, it did something to you.â
Charles shook his head, his grin lingering as he watched Y/n through the rearview mirror. âCareful, Theo. You might not survive the ride to Monaco if you keep that up.â
Theo and Y/n gasped when Charles braked hard. Y/nâs hand reached for the door for a grip, and her eyes grew round.
âWhy is he driving?â She asked.
A grin formed on Theoâs lips. âYou know, he needs to practice his normal driving skills in a normal car on a normal road every once in a while.â
âTheo, what the fuck,â Charles replied with an annoyed sigh.
For the first time, a smile formed on Y/nâs lips. âGlad you force him to because I canât tell this is an F1 driver for Ferrari.â
Laughter from Theo filled the car, even to the point he started to cough and gasp for air. Y/n couldnât help, but laugh as well, but she silently laughed. It was silent at the driver's side, as Charles didnât know how to react. However, he could smile at her comment as it made her laugh.
â
The car pulled into the Maison's driveway, the sound of the engine echoing softly through the otherwise peaceful area. As Charles slowed down, Y/n glanced out the window, smiling at the familiar surroundings.
As Charles steered the car to the front door, Theo leaned back, stretching his arms over his head. "Well, this is it.â
Y/n looked at the front door, then around the car and finally at Charles. âYouâre really gonna park it like this?â she asked with a raised eyebrow.
Theo chuckled. "Donât worry, heâs got normal parking skills." He shot Charles a teasing grin.
Charles muttered something under his breath, his hands tight on the steering wheel as he guided the car into place, clearly trying to ignore the jabs.
Once the car came to a stop, Y/n pushed open the door and stepped out. She grabbed her suitcase from the trunk, still feeling the faint adrenaline buzz from their chaotic drive. âYou know,â she said, her smile playful, âyou might want to stick to F1 tracks, Charles. Youâre scaring the shit out of me.â
Theoâs laughter erupted again, echoing around the driveway. âYou shouldâve seen her face when he hit the brakes,â he said, his voice nearly cracking with amusement.
Charles rolled his eyes as he exited the car, closing the door behind him. âVery funny,â he muttered.
Y/n turned to face him, a grin still tugging at her lips. âHonestly, Iâm just glad I survived that ride. Canât say the same for my heart, though.â
Charles gave her a sidelong glance, his lips twitching into a faint smile. âIf it makes you feel better, youâre not the first person to say that.â
âWell, Iâm not in the mood to be your next record,â she replied, still smiling.
âNext time, Iâll make sure youâre in the front seat,â Theo said, his tone mock-serious as he stepped up next to her. âFirst-row experience.â
âLetâs just get inside,â Charles grumbled, the playful banter finally wearing thin. âIâll deal with you two later.â
âOoooooo,â Theo hummed, throwing his hands up.
As they entered the Maison, soft words filled the air. They all walked to the living room, where the words came from. Laurent, Y/nâs brother, was calling. His suit was slightly wrinkled, and his tie was loosened, the telltale signs of a long day at work. He was still in the process of kicking off his shoes when he saw his little sister. A massive smile appeared, and his jaw dropped in excitement. He pointed at his phone and held up his hand, letting them know it would take five minutes. He walked over to Y/n and gave her a hug and a kiss on her hair.
Y/n smiled. Her brother had always been this way: always multitasking and making sure things were in order. It was one of the reasons she admired him so much. She sat down on the couch and looked around. Not much had changed, apart from a few photos and different cushions.
Theo dropped down into one of the armchairs with a sigh. âSo, whatâs the plan, huh? What do you two want to do first? Tour the place? Hit the beach?â
Charles, who had been quiet while her brother handled the call, shifted his gaze to Y/n. The room felt oddly still for a moment, their shared gaze lingering longer than either of them expected.
Y/n, feeling the weight of the quiet, broke eye contact first and turned to glance at her brother. âLet him finish first, I guess. Weâve got time,â she said lightly, her voice carrying an undertone that belied how restless she felt beneath the surface.
Her brother spoke up, his voice clear despite the distance. âAlright, Iâll be done in a minute. Just trying to sort out a few things. You three get comfortable, help yourselves to whateverâs in the kitchen.â
Charles stood still for a second, the quiet of the moment pressing down on him, and for the first time since they had arrived, he felt the subtle tension that had built between him and Y/n. It was odd, this unspoken thing between them, as if the space in the room was filled with something more than just casual conversation.
He cleared his throat, trying to break the silence. âIâll grab us a drink. You good with something, Y/n?â
Y/n snapped out of her thoughts, startled by his question. âUh, yeah, sure. Waterâs fine.â
âWater it is,â he replied, the corners of his lips twitching upward.
âI will take a coke, thank you,â Theo ordered and put up his thumb.
Charles sighed and made his way to the kitchen.
As he walked away, Y/n couldnât help but glance at him again, watching how he moved so effortlessly. It was a quiet observation, nothing too obvious, but enough to make her heart race just a little. He had become more handsome than she remembered.
âSoâŠâ Laurent entered the living room again. He fell beside his little sister on the couch and looked at her. âWelcome back, Y/n/n.â He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and hugged her briefly. âIt has been empty here without you.â
Y/n smiled, the familiar warmth of her brotherâs presence comforting her. âItâs still home,â she said softly, glancing around the room. Her brother bought this place just before she left for Madrid. She helped him move, but that was all.
âGonna make sure youâre spoiled during your stay. Got all your favourites lined up, too.â
âLove that.â
âI'm sorry I couldnât pick you up, but there was a massive accident in Menton. I just arrived back home,â he apologised, feeling bad he couldnât keep up his promise to pick her up.
âNo worries,â she smiled. âIt was an⊠interesting pick-up party.â
Laurent raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. âInteresting how?â
Y/n chuckled, her eyes glancing over to where Charles and Theo had settled in the room. âLetâs just say I wasnât expecting to be picked up by an F1 driver and aâŠ,â she paused, looking at Theo with a teasing grin, â...professional passenger.â
Theo let out a loud, exaggerated gasp. âI am not a professional passenger!â He threw his hands up dramatically. âI just prefer to let Charles take the wheel. Itâs not my fault heâs too quick to get in and out of trouble.â
Charles, who had been quietly listening, snorted with laughter. âYouâre one to talk. Youâre just mad because I beat you in the car to Menton the other week.â
Y/n shot them both a playful look. âIâm just glad Iâm still alive to tell the tale.â
Charles flashed her a grin. âSee? No harm done.â
âYeah, you say that now.â Y/n crossed her arms, smirking. âYou almost gave me a heart attack. I was about to turn into an honorary member of the FIA with that kind of ride.â
Laurent, who was listening to the banter, snickered. âThings havenât changed, I see. Still bickering like an old married couple.â
âPff.â
âShut up.â
âOld married couple,â Theo agreed and sipped from this drink.
Y/n rolled her eyes. âWeâre not bickering. Iâm just saying Charles could practice more with regular cars. Donât think Monacoâs tight corners should be his only driving experience.â
Theo burst into laughter, slapping his knee. âOh, sheâs calling you out, Charles. Youâve been called out.â
Charles, trying to keep a straight face, replied, âOkay, okay, maybe Iâll take some tips from the passenger seat next time, just to ensure no one else gets traumatised.â
Y/n gave him a playful side-eye. âGood plan. Weâll be safer that way. I can teach you the tips and tricks.â
The moment was light and familiarâlike old times when teasing each other was second nature. Still, as the laughter faded, Y/n couldnât help but feel something shift in the room. It was subtle, but there was an undeniable weight to the space between her and Charles. Her smile softened as her eyes flicked briefly to him, and she noticed the way his gaze lingered on her before he quickly looked away, his expression unreadable.

Summary: It's the couple's first holiday with their toddler, but things don't exactly go to plan when their daughter becomes ill. And they run into a few rude people at the airport.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A sigh burned past (Y/n)'s lips and she closed her eyes, tilting her head back as if looking towards the sky to give her strength.
Her right hand moved to cradle the back of Evie's head while she tilted her chest back so the toddler was leaning into her. She bent her knees and started swaying her little girl from left to right, moving her up and down to calm her down and try to cease her cries.
It didn't work.
The toddler sniffed before she let out another wail into (Y/n)'s neck. Her hands batted up and down against (Y/n)'s chest and shoulder and she started swaying her legs as she howled. Bubbling, sniffling cries wailed past Evie's lips as tears drenched her face and her skin started to burn from how overworked she was making herself.
"Baby, shh come on it's okay-"
"I want daddy!" Her little voice turned into a screech and she sniffed at least five times to draw in a deep enough breath so that she could let out another cry.
"I know, I know baby and he won't be long, the boys are coming." (Y/n) leaned her cheek on top of Evie's head and continued to sway, trying to shush her.
She had moved to stand near the drinks bar to be hidden in the shade and be out the way of the other people. The last thing everyone nearby needed was to listen to Evie screaming her little head off.
The two year old wasn't feeling well today.
This was her first time abroad. They were used to taking Chris away on holiday at least once a year but the last two years hadn't gone to plan. (Y/n) had been pregnant on their last holiday and she hadn't felt very well. And they skipped going abroad last year because Evie was only a baby and it would have been too much for them all.
Now she was two, they thought she would enjoy going abroad. She hadn't liked the airport, at all. And the plane ride had been long and tiring for her, but she had done well. But their two week holiday had been a right mixture since Evie had gotten sick.
The temperature change didn't sit well with her, the newfound heat had made her sick for the first few days. Then when they thought she was getting better, they went out for a walk round and the heat made her pass out. To top it off, for the last two days Evie had been sick and when she was sick, she wanted to be held, cuddled and carried by either one of her dads.
It was their last day today because tomorrow dinnertime they would be heading back to the airport to head home. But their holiday had been fun and exciting despite Evie not feeling her best, and it had been great for them to spend two full weeks together as a family.
"Shh, baby, okay." (Y/n) murmured into the top of her head as she continued to sway from side to side.
With it being their last day and a small amusement park being over the road, Eddie and Evan had taken Chris to go on the rides. It wasn't (Y/n)'s sort of thing and Evie wasn't well enough to go on the baby rides or to watch the boys like she normally would. She would of been fine wandering round with some sweets and a drink, but not today when she was feeling unwell.
So they decided the boys would go on the amusements and (Y/n) had taken Evie in the soft play area in their hotel and then to the toy shop.
"Here they are, look. Who's that?"
Evie lifted her head from (Y/n)'s shoulder, still sniffing and whimpering while she looked around for her dads and her brother.
The boys had got back from the amusements twenty minutes ago and they had gone to get changed into their swim gear since they all wanted one more dip in the hotel pool. The pool was massive. And the cold water would do Evie the world of good, it had made her feel better every other day they spent in here.
"Found them!" Chris pulled on Evan's hand and pointed ahead to where (Y/n) was stood cradling Evie, leaning back against the bar.
Chris was wearing his aqua blue swim trunks with sharks dotted all over them and he had already taken his glasses off and put them in the bag Eddie was carrying, full of their change of clothes and towels. He practically dragged Evan over until they got towards (Y/n).
A tender smile flooded (Y/n)'s face as she looked over her boys. Chris was jumping up and down, desperate to get in the pool already. It had been hard to get the kids out the pool these past two weeks whenever they came down here.
The outdoor pool was spaceous. There was a shallow end with fountains and a little lookout tower for little kids. There was a deeper end for adults, at the far back there were a few slides. Two hot tubs were at the back and all around the pool was a rapid river with currents for people to cruise along in with floats and rubber rings.
(Y/n) dragged her eyes across Evan and Eddie who looked like the sun and the moon. Evan was wearing white and blue striped swim trunks, showing off all the tattoos glittered around his arms and his torso. Including (Y/n)'s favourite which was Evangeline in large italics beneath his collar bone with Evie's footprints stamped beneath her name in purple ink from when she was born.
And she noticed Evan was wearing his knee brace. The amount of walking, swimming and running they had done on this holiday was enough to aggravate his scarred leg so he had brought his brace along. It was waterproof and the tight tension stopped him from limping.
Then there was Eddie. Grey cargo-like trunks with large baggy pockets and blinding white draw strings through the middle. His hair was spiked up, his black sunglasses were perched on his nose and (Y/n)'s eyes found her favourite tattoo on Eddie's skin.
He had Chris and Evie's date of births in a scroll on the lower left side of his abs.
"Looking good," Evan murmured while he let his eyes wander all over (Y/n)'s frame.
It didn't matter how many times he and Eddie had seen her in her swimsuit this week. It was their new favourite. A low cut, strapless strawberry red suit with little white hearts dotted all over.
(Y/n) tilted her head back so she could peck Evan's lips before she took a step closer to Eddie with her arms outstretched. "Thank God. She won't settle for me, she's been screaming for you."
"For me? Aw, baby girl."
They reached out and did a swap. (Y/n) took the bag from Eddie's shoulder while he carefully scooped Evie up from her and turned her around so she was facing him. He saw the light sparkle in her little eyes when she realised who it was that now had hold of her. He was a little surprised she was crying out for him when Evan had been the one who had slept with her on his chest last night instead of leaving her coughing and sulking in the crib.
As soon as she was bundled up against his bare chest, Evie stopped crying. She turned to little gasps and sniffs and deadlocked her arms around Eddie's neck. Her nose brushed up against his neck and made him shiver while she curled up against him.
She looked a little cutie, despite the snot and tears drenching her face and the heat radiating off of her. Evie's hair was gathered up in a scrunchie and she was wearing her navy blue Fireman Sam swim costume because she thought it was both her dad's in cartoon form.
"How's she been?" Evan curved his free arm around (Y/n)'s waist and let Chris lead them towards the pool.
"Well, she's not been sick and she found a new firetruck in the toy shop which will be in the cot with her tonight, I'll bet."
It had been no secret at the station that Evan held it over Eddie's head that Evie preferred the fire truck to the ambulance. They got her a few toys of each because she was always at the station to see the team and her family. But she loved the fire truck. It didn't matter when Eddie told her about the ambulance or that he drove the ambulance whereas Evan rarely drove the truck.
And when they went to the toy store and she saw a fire truck that was just the right size for Evie to hold and cuddle like it was a teddy, the toddler wouldn't let it go.
(Y/n) had a gut feeling that when they got back to the room, Evie wouldn't let the truck out of her sight. She would fall asleep with it.
"That's our girl."
"You're burning, baby girl." Eddie spoke quietly against the top of her head while he smoothed his hand up and down her back. "Let's get you in that pool, hm?"
"Hot," Evie murmured while she drooled on Eddie's chest. She was a lot calmer now she was in his arms and she was panting from how badly she had been crying.
"I know, poorly baby." Eddie cooed with his lips against her temple and he shivered when he stepped into the pool. The contrast of freezing cold water lapping at his heels and the burning hot toddler on his chest sent his heart into a frenzy and made him shiver.
He followed after his partners, grinning when Chris flopped down onto his stomach and started crawling and shimmying further into the water.
When the water rose to his knees, Eddie slowly lowered himself down until he was sat down in the shallow end. He stretched his legs out into the water and gently lowered Evie down until she was sat on his lap with the water up to her tummy. A smile pulled at Eddie's lips when Evie shivered and gasped but the cold water seemed to make her feel better instantly.
She splashed her hands out at her sides and hit the water around Eddie's knees.
"Happy now, baby?" He whispered softly when Evie slouched down against him so her chest was submerged in the water. Her head pressed back into his abdomen and she grinned a toothy smile up at him as she began to kick her legs out and swatted him in the thighs.
After a few minutes, Eddie gently moved his hands beneath Evie's back and her head so she was laid floating up in the water. He weaved her through the water as she squealed, kicking her legs and flapping her arms while Eddie started to move more towards the middle of the pool towards his partners.
"Hey, pretty baby." Evan kissed the top of Evie's head before he leaned over to steal a kiss from Eddie.
He had his arms wrapped around (Y/n) and moved his chin back to perch on (Y/n)'s shoulder while Chris began swimming at their side. He swayed them from side to side before he leaned back in the water and pulled (Y/n) so she was laid between his thighs in the water.
(Y/n) let her head flop back onto Evan's shoulder and she attached her lips to the side of his neck, feeling his chest vibrate with a growl. Both their heads turned to the right when they heard Chris.
"Pops! Pops, floats." He was already swimming off to the side, trying to point and swim at the same time towards the large donut ring floats he could see that no one had grabbed yet. There weren't many of them around and they usually had to wait a while to find one around the pool.
"She stays with you two if we get those." (Y/n) gave a warning look between the boys and shook her head when she saw them grin.
When they came in the pool the other day and finally got four floats for them all, (Y/n) had sat Evie on her lap in one. It had been a mistake when Evie thought she was about to fall off and scrambled to hold onto (Y/n), whose swimsuit was strapless. She almost dragged (Y/n)'s suit down her chest if Evan hadn't reached out in time to swoop Evie up.
"Yeah, no flashing." Evan murmured in her ear and tightened his arms around (Y/n)'s waist while his hands travelled up to her chest. He gave her a squeeze and pressed a kiss to the side of her head before he detangled himself from her and swam over to Chris to help him.
"Are we gonna go on the rapids, baby?"
Eddie gently lifted Evie up from the water and settled her down on his chest. He felt her hands splash down on his shoulders and she nuzzled her face into his chest. He was relieved to see she was starting to cool down but he didn't want to think of the tantrum she was going to have when they eventually had to get out the pool.
"There's only three, who's bunking up?" Evan had one float hooked over each shoulder while Chris was slumped over the third one. Kicking his legs out at Evan to get towards the sectioned off water where there were currents and buckets that tipped water across them.
"Me and mum." Chris answered before any of them had the chance to say anything.
He grinned when (Y/n) ruffled his damp curls and kissed his temple before she held onto the float and steered it in the right direction so Chris didn't have to.
"Alright, in you go."
Evan held the float steady while (Y/n) dipped under the water and climbed up into the float. She secured her legs over either side and smiled brightly when Chris scrambled up too. He sat on the opposite end with his legs strewn over (Y/n)'s lap and his hands reached out to hold hers while Evan gave them a nudge into the water.
(Y/n) slouched down a little move and splashed her feet in the water over the side of the float while Chris used the wall to push them further ahead into the current. She could see Eddie following just behind them, sat like a royal with Evie curled up on his chest. She had her head tucked just beneath his chin, her hands patting his chest and her legs coiled up on his stomach.
He leaned his head back, soaking up the sun while his hand smoothed up and down Evie's back.
"Alright back there, loner?" Eddie tilted his head a bit further back, making sure he didn't tip the float over, so he could look behind him at Evan. He saw the way Evan pretended to laugh and stuck a middle finger up at him.
Eddie used his foot to kick the wall on the right and it spun the float round so he and Evie were facing backwards. Not that Evie cared right now, she was so settled he wondered if she was going to go to sleep.
"Oh no," He muttered and leaned forward, pressing his lips to the top of Evie's head as his arms curved around her tighter when he noticed the water buckets up ahead. (Y/n) and Chris sailed through them, but Eddie could see they were about to tip and pour water onto him. If Evie got splashed in the face she would scream. The chlorine stung her eyes and she couldn't handle water in her ears.
A groan spluttered past his lips when the water crashed down on the back of his neck and soaked through his hair and all across his shoulders.
"Daddy!" Evie wriggled against him, managing a little smile when she realised Eddie was soaked but she had remained mostly dry, at least her head did. He smiled down at her and shook his head whilst trying to keep his glasses perched on his nose.
When he heard the others laughing, Eddie took a calculated look around to see who was closest to them. It happened to be Evan who was only a foot away.
With a little strain, Eddie stretched his leg out towards Evan's float and gave it a swift kick. But his jaw dropped and a quiet 'ooh shit' passed Eddie's lips when he kicked the float a little too harshly.
Evan toppled out.
"Eddie!" (Y/n) pressed a hand to her mouth and tried not to laugh, but she could already see Chris tossing his head back with a cackle. Poor Evan flipped backwards and dunked under the water. "Go, go." She whispered to Chris, helping him reach for the wall and propell their float further down the river stream towards the people ahead of them. They needed to get away before Evan tried to retaliate and get his own back.
Eddie had to admit Evan looked rather fetching when he broke through the water. His curls stuck to his forehead, water cascaded off the end of his nose and dripped down his lips that were a very dark shade of red. He was panting for breath and his shoulders were hunched up, tensing and morphing the tattoos across his body.
"You little-"
"No, no! Hey, I've got the baby- I've got the baby don't you dare!" He curled his hands around Evie and shuffled her a little higher up his chest so her chin was perched on his shoulder. Although his lips morphed into an open-mouthed grin as he tried to move their float to get away.
Evan couldn't tip him over or splash him or pull him from the float because he had Evie in his arms. If she went under the water she would scream and flap about and cause a scene. He would have to wait until Eddie didn't have Evie in his arms if he wanted payback.
"I'm sorry babe."
***
Leaning forward, (Y/n) pressed her temple into Evan's back and closed her eyes for a few seconds. She could feel herself smiling when he reached behind to hold her hip and give her a gentle squeeze.
She reached her right hand out and smoothed her hand up and down Evan's waist while her left hand juggled Evie and moved the toddler a bit higher up onto her chest. She could feel Evie drooling into her shoulder and the little pants she let out told (Y/n) she was barely awake. That's what they wanted. They wanted Evie tired and subdued so they could get through customs and get on the plane without a fuss.
The temperature change from the boiling heat outside to the chilled aircon in the airport had made Evie cry and feel ill. And it wasn't doing (Y/n) any favours either.
"Are we nearly there?" (Y/n) didn't bother lifting her head from Evan's back. It was a comfort to feel his tense back in front of her and to breathe into his shirt and inhale his scent.
It felt like they had been queuing in this line for hours. They were going to miss their flight if they waited much longer. All it was was a bag check and a scanner to make sure they weren't bringing anything back or taking a bomb onto the plane. They hardly had to queue back home when they were at the start of their holiday. Now it was the end, things were dragging out.
"Yep, just about."
Evan gave her hip another squeeze while he leaned forward and perched his chin on Eddie's shoulder to look at the queue. They were just about at the scanner. Finally.
When Eddie started to get plastic tubs for him and Chris to put their things into, Evan leaned forward and grabbed one for himself and one for (Y/n). He dumped his bag into the box and took out the electronics, smiling to himself that (Y/n) was still cosied up against his back. And he could feel Evie snuggled between them too.
He felt (Y/n) press a kiss between his shoulder blades before she reluctantly pulled away, but she still stood close to him.
She struggled to keep Evie in one arm and take off her bag and sling it into the tray Evan had placed down for her. They had another few feet to go before they would be in the scanner, so (Y/n) wasn't in a hurry to take off her shoes or unpack the electronics from her bag.
Her breath hitched in her throat and she tensed up when she felt a shoulder nudge into her back.
Great. She had a pushy couple behind her.
Moving her hand to cradle the back of Evie's head, (Y/n) cuddled her daughter closer and took a step closer to Evan until she was practically meshed up against his back. She didn't want to be stood close to strangers, it was why they had walked around the airport with (Y/n) in between the boys while she carried Evie. So no one else would get close.
A gasp tumbled from her lips and she pushed up against Evan when the man behind her leaned over her.
She could feel his chest press into her back when he roughly leaned over her shoulder to grab a tray for his own items. He wasn't even next to the bag scanner yet and he was trying to get ready. It wouldn't make the queue speed up or make (Y/n) move any faster, she could only go as fast as everyone else.
She shivered and tilted her head up when Evan turned. He glanced over his shoulder and looked down at (Y/n) first, but she saw something burn in his eyes when he realised why she had stumbled into him.
"It's okay." (Y/n) muttered quietly and reached out to give Evan's bicep a light squeeze.
The man behind her had grabbed a tray but he was back to waiting in line behind them now. (Y/n) didn't want Evan to start a fight, not so close to the security guards in case they caused a scene or got delayed. They couldn't miss this flight when their luggage was already boarding the plane and they all wanted to get home.
She watched Evan huff and lock his jaw tight and his gaze burned into the couple behind them before he turned back round. He busied himself snapping his belt from his trousers and dumping it in the tray along with his shoes.
And he stayed tense and straight while (Y/n) held his arm and leaned into his back so she could slip off her shoes and put them in the tray.
(Y/n) took to humming while she rested her lips against Evie's temple and gently rocked her from side to side. She stayed close to Evan and shuffled forward with him while he took her tray and placed it on the conveyer belt on their right.
"Oh!"
(Y/n)'s arms tightened around Evie and she snapped her eyes closed when the man behind her pushed her once again. Only this time, with a little more force and (Y/n) was sure he'd done that on purpose to make her move.
Her elbow clattered against the conveyer belt and her head bashed into the back of Evan's arm. But it was Evie's cry that made her wince. Poor Evie slammed into Evan's back too and got squished between both parents. The abrupt motion woke her up immediately and she began to whimper, wondering what was going on.
"Do you mind?" Evan's voice snapped through the air like the jaws of a crocodile.
His hands were desperate to curl into fists but he refrained and moved both hands to hold (Y/n)'s arms when he turned round. He kept her and Evie tucked into his chest while his eyes bore down into the short but stocky man stood behind his girls.
He didn't react when he felt Eddie's hand on his waist, trying to see around him to find out what was wrong.
"What?"
"You've just pushed my partner and she's clearly got a child in her arms. Why don't you try being careful?" He looked down and moved his hand to indicate to Evie who was whimpering in (Y/n)'s arms.
When he didn't get an answer or even an apologetic look, Evan sighed. He moved his hands down from (Y/n)'s arms to hold her hips and turned them round so she was in front of him. Keeping both his girls wedged between him and Eddie so they were safe from another stumble.
He could see Eddie giving him a certain look, telling him to leave it at that, but Evan couldn't help himself. He turned to look over his shoulder and stared down at the stranger who was glaring daggers through him.
"Push me, pal. See what happens."
It was a dare more than a threat, but it did the trick because when Evan turned around, he could feel two feet of space between him and the stranger. He didn't want to take the risk and find out.
***
"Shh, good girl, there we go." Eddie pressed his lips to the top of Evie's head and rubbed his hand slowly up and down her back.
He could feel her snotting and whimpering into his neck while her hands fisted in his shirt and pulled it to her chest. She hadn't been best pleased when Eddie told her he couldn't take it off on the plane. Throughout their holiday she had been used to cuddling up to Eddie and Evan without their shirts on. She liked the skin contact.
If he could of snuggled Evie under his shirt, he would have.
He sat up straighter in his chair and gently swayed Evie up and down on his chest as she continued to whimper quietly. She didn't feel well, and the turbulence frightened her. Eddie was surprised she hadn't been sick yet, but then again, she threw up just before they got on the plane.
"Wanna go sit with mum and papa for a while?" He spoke against her temple before he glanced over at Chris who was sat on his right and was finally happy playing a game.
Chris hadn't been happy that they weren't all sitting together. On their first flight at the start of the holiday, the four of them all had seats together at the very back of the plane. Chris had sat next to Evan and only a small aisle separated them from (Y/n) and Eddie while they passed Evie between them throughout the flight.
This time, Chris and Eddie were in the middle row while Evan and (Y/n) were a row in front on the left row. So Chris couldn't lean over and see them properly whereas Eddie had to lean over the aisle and strain his neck to get Evan's attention.
It wasn't ideal, but at least they were paired up.
When Evie murmured into his neck, Eddie slowly stood up in the cramped space and shifted onto the aisle on his left. He took three steps forward and leaned his hips against Evan's seat.
He could see (Y/n) was half awake with her head slumped on Evan's shoulder and an arm bound around her waist. She didn't feel well. Whereas Evan was slouched down with his legs stretched out in the aisle. He and Eddie didn't exactly fit in the seats properly which was why they both sat on the aisle seats so they could stretch out.
"You sitting with us, baby?" Evan reached his arms up and eased Evie down onto his lap. He smiled when Eddie gave his shoulder a squeeze and pecked his temple, whispering a quiet 'thank you' before he headed back over to Chris.
(Y/n) smiled tiredly, keeping her right hand curled around Evan's bicep while she moved her left hand to rub up and down Evie's back.
She closed her eyes and shuffled down in her seat, curling more into Evan until she was almost sitting on his lap along with Evie. (Y/n) didn't like sitting next to strangers. It was a Godsend that the arm rests folded up so (Y/n) could shuffle closer to Evan. She had nothing against the elder man sat next to her, but (Y/n) would rather cuddle up into one of her partners than be close to a stranger.
And it wasn't as if Evan could comfortably sit- or even fit- in the middle seat which was why he and Eddie were on the end seats.
"Wanna watch a movie?" Evan looked down at Evie with a smile, but she shook her head and whimpered. She didn't have the attention span for a movie, she didn't feel well and she didn't know what to do with herself.
She stayed perched on his lap with her eyes fixated on Evan's arm. He had his right arm around her waist to keep her settled on his lap while his left arm stayed between him and (Y/n). Right where Evie could see and start to glide her fingertips across his tattoos to keep herself occupied.
Evan started to jitter his leg up and down which made Evie smile, if only for a few seconds. Her chin tilted down into her chest and she messed around with his arm which made Evan grin, he loved the sensation when either Chris or Evie started to draw patterns on his skin or trace his tattoos. He watched her contently for a few minutes while (Y/n) closed her eyes and tried to ward off the sickness she felt.
But (Y/n)'s eyes snapped open and Evan's smile faded when the seat in front of him moved.
Whoever was sitting in front tried twice to recline his chair, but it wouldn't go back any further. The way he bashed his frame into the chair caused it to jolt into Evie's back. It wasn't enough to hurt her, but it was enough to scare her into crying out and her big doe eyes looked up at Evan in fright.
"PapaâŠ"
"S'alright, come here, look."
Evan moved his hands to Evie's sides and gently lifted her up from his lap so he could lean her on his chest instead. She rested her cheek on his shoulder and looped her arms around his neck, bending her knees into his stomach. He looped one arm around the back of her legs and ran his other hand up and down her back in slow circles.
They could just have a cuddle for a while until Evie fell asleep or settled enough to watch a movie or listen to some music.
(Y/n) dug both hands into Evan's bicep and meshed her face into his shoulder, holding her breath when the plane shuddered. She could feel the turbulence rocketing through to her heart and her throat tightened when it felt like the plane was going to drop down out of the sky.
A shudder ran through Evan's neck and he winced when Evie screamed. She wasn't as frightened as Evan thought she would be since this was their first time taking her on holiday and on a plane. But they all knew any turbulence was going to frighten her. She didn't understand what was happening.
Her nails scratched Evan's neck and she scrambled to press further into him as if she thought she could mesh herself into his chest, somehow.
A loud wail left her lips and she began to cry, breaking off every few seconds to scream when the plane gave another jolt to the left or rickoted up and down.
"Shh, baby shh it's okay, you're okay." Evan smothered his lips against Evie's cheek and moved his hand up and down her back while he rocked her back and forth. He could feel her little body trembling against him and it made him want to cry. But he was glad she was sat with him. Eddie was a good flyer, but he didn't like turbulence either. Eddie would be sat stiff in his seat right now, praying for a smooth flight.
When the plane finally levelled out, Evan glanced down at (Y/n). She had stopped shaking too but she didn't lift her head from his shoulder. He didn't mind.
His lips stayed meshed with Evie's cheek and he continued to hum and shush her while leaning from left to right to see if it would help. But his eyes locked with the man sitting in the window seat beside (Y/n). He thought for a moment that the man was going to tut or roll his eyes, but instead, he just smiled.
"You good?" Evan looked down at (Y/n) when she lifted her face from his shoulder so she could rest her cheek on his arm instead. She nodded, but he could see she was uneasy and she still looked sick.
The plane shook again, but it was only a little tremor this time.
"Alright, you're okay baby." He murmured again into Evie's cheek as she continued to whimper into his neck.
But Evan's attention diverted to the chair in front when the man slammed back in his seat again. It was as if he thought bashing around in his chair would somehow make it recline further but if that happened he would be laying on Evan's lap. He gave it another shove with a loud grumble that made (Y/n) open her eyes to see what was going on.
"Oh for fuck's sake."
The stranger's loud remark made (Y/n)'s stomach churn and she darted her eyes up to look at Evan.
Another round of expletives left his lips in a mixture of 'fucking plane' and 'bloody stupid' amongst other things. When he either hit his chair or slammed his elbow back into it, both (Y/n) and Evie quivered.
What was he doing? Was he desperate for a power nap so early into the evening like this?
When he swore again, Evie lifted her head from Evan's neck and looked up at him. She knew those were bad words but she didn't know who was saying them or who was getting angry. The panic was written across her face as her eyes creased and a cry tumbled past her lips as she looked at Evan in fear.
Evan coiled his left arm around Evie to keep her stood up on his thighs with her body slumped against his chest. He smoothed his hand up and down her hip as she wrapped her arms back around his neck and began crying into his shoulder. Even with (Y/n) leaning into her and cuddling her, Evie continued to shake.
"Stop." Reaching forward, Evan planted his right palm flat against the chair in front and gave it enough of a shove that the man jolted forward.
"What are you doing?"
The man leaned around the side of his chair so he could look behind him at Evan. The disgusted look on his face made Evan arch a brow and curl his lips in anger. He didn't look much older than Evan, late thirties, early forties at a push. But the anger and frown lines on his face could have aged him ten years.
"Your swearing and mouthing off is upsetting my daughter. Give it a rest please." Evan sighed through his words while he leaned his chin on his right hand and stared blankly at the man in front of him.
He wouldn't sit here and continue to let this stranger mouth off and frighten Evie when she wasn't well and she was already petrified of being on a plane.
And surely this man's disruptive behaviour was irritating or upsetting a few other people on the plane, not just them.
Eddie leaned to the left with his elbow on the arm rest and his head tilted up so he could look down the aisle. He knew Evan's voice, he could recognise his boyfriend's voice a mile away and he knew that tone. Evan was both losing his patience and getting worried at the same time and that was never good. Eddie could feel his stomach flooding with adrenaline as he watched the man in front of Evan leer at him and look him up and down with scrutinising eyes.
"I thought that was his kid?" The moment those words passed through the stranger's lips and he pointed towards the back of the plane in Eddie's direction, that was it.
"Stay here." Eddie whispered firmly to Chris as he got up and thundered down the aisle. He barely stood beside Evan before the stranger started again.
"And she's not exactly quiet, is she? Screaming her fucking head off since we took off."
(Y/n) took a deep breath and kept both arms coiled tightly around Evan's arm when he looked like he was about to get up. He couldn't retaliate when Evie was whimpering in his arms. The toddler could sense an argument was about to break out and it was frightening her.
But when (Y/n) looked up and realised Eddie was already hovering beside them like a dark omen, she bit her lip.
Her heart thundered in her chest when Eddie roughly grabbed the back of the man's seat and gave it a harsh shove to get his attention. His fingers were almost ripping through the material as Eddie leaned on the chair and leaned down until he was level with the man in front of him.
"I don't know who you think you are, but if you talk about our daughter like that again, you'll be flying home with the air rescue."
Eddie didn't care one bit who this man was or who he thought he was. He had no right to talk to any of them like that or speak about Evie as if she was some silly teenager playing up on purpose. She was a toddler, she was only two years old. How could this man sit there and honestly expect her to be quiet or calm or happy when she was petrified?
"Listen mate, I-"
"No, you're gonna listen to me now. She's a sick little child who's frightened, you're just a prick with an attitude. Show some respect or prepare to be taught a lesson."
Eddie's callous voice and his intensifying gaze had the man stunned to silence. It was very clear what Eddie was saying. If he didn't stop being so disrespectful, Eddie would punch him. He would start and end a fight right here on this plane and he didn't care if they had to make an emergency landing in order to do that.
He wouldn't have someone talking to his family like that and upsetting his daughter.
Eddie took such a deep breath he felt like he was going to pass out. He straightened up until his head was almost touching the roof and he watched as the stranger sank down in his chair and turned to look at the screen in front of him. He wasn't giving Eddie the satisfaction of seeing his embarrassed, frightened expression.
A tender smile pulled at (Y/n)'s lips as she looked between her boys. "Maybe you two should switch seats⊠keep the kids out the way?"
It seemed a safer option for Evie to be back with Chris two rows behind so she wasn't near that man. She was now petrified. The toddler was trembling against Evan and whimpering quietly into his neck. Sitting here so close to the man that shouted at them was only going to frighten her even more. And she was still attached to Evan at the moment.
It would be better if Evan sat with Chris and made sure the kids were okay. And that meant Eddie could sit directly behind the person he had just threatened and keep an eye on him.
"Come on baby girl," Evan kept Evie close to his chest and pecked (Y/n)'s temple before he got up.
He smiled when he felt Eddie's hand on his lower back and a soft kiss against the side of his neck while they weaved around each other to switch places. Evan made a slow walk over to Eddie's seat where Chris was leaning to get a look at the action, grinning around his thumb that he was biting down on.
And Eddie swung round and flopped into Evan's vacant seat, slouching down so his knees pressed into the chair in front. His left hand instinctively curled around (Y/n)'s upper thigh while he scrunched his right hand into a fist and rested his chin on his hand.
He turned his head to the left and looked at (Y/n) with an arched brow and quirked lips. He watched her lean over until her chest was pressed up against his bicep and her hand fell on his chest that was rising and falling rapidly like he had just run a marathon.
Her lips pressed a kiss to the soft spot behind his ear that had him shivering and gripping her thigh harder.
"Well done, babe."
đđ'đ: đđđđđđđ đđđđđđ missing them every second they're gone, spoiling them with affection and material things, constantly feeling wanted and reassured, and willing to burn the world down just for them.
summary: a collection of ways on how the blue lock boys silently say "i love you."
note: i love this man so much that my fingers slipped and whoop- here it is. 2.1k words of tooth-rotting fluff by yours truly.
it's eight am in the morning and the air smells like blueberry pancakes with bacon. the blinds are drawn, sunlight filtering through the glass windows of kaiser's penthouse. the atmosphere is calm, street-level noise muted, and there are no neighbors to interrupt your morning.
or more like, you're glad he doesn't have neighbors otherwise he'll interrupt their morning.
"babe." you laugh with an amused look on your face, looking at your boyfriend of six years. "what are you doing?"
you watch as michael kaiser, bastard munchen's ace, places himself at your feet. he's wearing his pink panther pajamas, glasses still on his face after watching a rerun of a match. another thing on his face is the cutest pair of puppy eyes you've ever seen. but you aren't telling him that unless you want to cancel your plans for the week.
"i'm not letting you leave," he huffs as he wraps his hands around one of your legs, leaning his full weight onto the limb. "i'm not letting you leave me. how dare you!"
he looks like a snuggly koala, and you'd drag him back into bed for cuddles if you weren't already late.
"but we've been through this," you say with a quirked eyebrow, feeling him wrap himself tighter around your leg. "it isn't like i haven't told you about my plans. hell, you were the one who bought the tickets for me!"
his only answer comes in the form of a glare and a pout.
"sometimes i think i have a seven-year-old child as a boyfriend," you chuckle, equal parts endeared and annoyed at his behavior.
to be perfectly honest, kaiser is the perfect boyfriend. suave, charming, handsome. he ticks off every box on the ideal men to have as your husband list. even his tantrums, like the one he's having right now, are endearing.
"well tell your stupid friends that the stupid road trip is over. i'm not letting you out of the door."
ah, there it is. the reason he's been whining and pouting all day. you're due to leave for hawaii today, in an all-expense paid road trip, as a reward for getting a promotion at work. you didn't even think of leaving the country, perfectly content in rewarding yourself with a mini shopping spree. but your boyfriend, the one who's groveling at your feet begging you to stay, insisted on buying you tickets and a reservation to the most luxurious resort hawaii could offer.
looks like he's regretting that decision today.
"i would," you hum at your boyfriend, looking at him with mirth in your eyes. "but my stupid friends are already at the airport waiting for me."
he lets out a grumble at that. "then they'll just have to leave without you."
shaking your head with a hint of a smile on your face, you lower yourself to a squat. intent on teasing him back, you push him off your leg, laughing when he stumbles back with a yelp.
"what happened to you?" he glares with no real heat in his eyes, a small smile threatening to break on his face. he's enjoying this as much as you are. "you were so nice and obedient last-"
"don't!" you squeak as you tackle him, sending you both rolling to the floor in a fit of giggles. "don't you dare bring that up again!"
"i won't if you don't leave for the trip," he offers with a victorious smile, as if he's already won.
"you know i can't do that." you shake your head, sitting on your bum as he moves to lay his head on your lap. placing your hand in his hair, you play with the strands. "you've already bought the tickets and booked the resort. i don't want all that money to go to waste."
he grumbles, his head so deep in your lap that the words are muffled.
"what did you say?"
"i said." he springs up, moving into a sitting position in front of you. "i don't care about the money. i just want to spend time with you before i have to go back."
your heart beats a little faster, warmth spreading through your chest at his words. "i'll only be gone for three days," you say with a soft smile, leaning in to press a hand to his cheek, which he nuzzles into. "besides, i'll be heading to germany with you. remember?"
"i know," he sighs at the touch, leaning into the warmth of your palm. "it's just- you know i'll be busy with games when we're back in germany. and i won't be able to spend much time with you..."
you feel your heart grow three sizes larger to fit in the amount of love you have for this man.
biting your lip at his pouty expression, you're quick to pull him into a sweet kiss. tilting your head to deepen it, you make sure to pour every ounce of your love into the one connection.
"how about.." you start-off, whispering against his lips. you giggle when he huffs and pulls you into another before climbing on to sit on his lap. "i go for two days and come back on the third so we can spend some quality time together?"
"how about you just stay right here, in my arms," he offers back with a mischievous grin as he leans in to press kisses on your neck. you sigh as he makes his way down your neck, nipping little love marks on your collarbone. "what do you say, mein liebling?"
"mikka.."
he stops at the sound of his favorite nickname. looking up at you with wide eyes and a hopeful expression that turns into a pout at the shake of your head. "how about i buy you that dog you've always wanted? what was it? the shiba inu?" he tries again with a cheeky smile. "i'll even buy you a panda!"
you raise an eyebrow at his words. "a panda? can you even buy a panda?"
"i'll have one imported from china," he says with an excited nod, the grin widening on his lips. "waddya say?"
"deal." you watch his face break into a trophy winning smile, his boyish charms swaying you just a little. "only if its a talking panda, though."
his smile drops and he glares as he pinches your bum with a finger.
laughing, you squeal at his little action before leaning down to press your forehead to his. "please?" you whisper as you nuzzle your noses together. "pretty please, for me?"
you see the hesitation in his eyes before he sighs, accepting defeat. "you better be home the second day, you hear me?" he says all through a ridiculous pout as he wraps his arms around your waist tightly.
"i'll pick you up from the airport." he nods to himself before groaning, burying his head in the crook of your neck. "you've got me weak, liebling. the things i do for you."
"thank you, mein kaiser," you say through a giggle as you tug at his hair, pulling his head back for a kiss. "ich liebe dich."
"i love it when you talk like that." his smirk is back on his face, his cheekiness shining its way through his small moment of despair. "makes you sound even hotter."
rolling your eyes, you get off his lap and tug him into a standing position. "seriously." you push him down onto the couch, pressing a searing kiss that has him groaning into your mouth. "you mean so much to me."
"you wouldn't be leaving if i meant that much to you," he says before laughing when you punch his shoulder with a glare. his expression is warm, love clear in his eyes when he pulls you down into one last hug. "break my heart. break it a thousand times if you'd like. it was only ever yours to break anyway."
"isn't that too much?" you laugh when he releases his grip on you, walking to the door where your suitcases are. you hum when he follows, his hand slipping into your back pocket as he stands by the door, ready to finally let you leave.
"i don't know what to do while you're gone," he says as he leans in to press a kiss on your forehead. you watch as he looks at you from top to bottom, the pout seemingly forever etched onto his lips. at least, until you come back into his waiting arms.
"what do you usually do?" you ask, mentally rechecking whether you've forgotten to pack any of your things.
"wait for you to come back." the pout is replaced with a cheeky smile before it's gone again, the flirtatious glint in his eyes dimming. "i'll miss you. i miss you already."
"i'm still here you big baby," you say with a roll of your eyes before leaning in to press one final kiss on his lips. "but i'll miss you too."
you're halfway to the elevator, texting your friends to apologize for the delay when he runs over, shouting your name down the corridor.
you're really glad he doesn't have neighbors.
"can i kiss you again? this is the last one, i promise," he says, his hand making its way on your wrist when you turn to look back at him. at the irritated quirk of your eyebrow, he giggles.
"now?" you press, glancing at the watch on your wrist. "now? i'm already late. and i mean late, late. late as in, i might just miss my flight." you have an inkling feeling that's what he's trying to achieve.
"now is preferable," he nods with a determined look on his face, squeezing your wrist in affection. "please," he adds with a pout when you hesitate for a brief second.
sighing, you take a few steps towards him, watching as he perks up. "you know i can't say no when you look at me like that," you say as you drop your luggage to wrap both hands around his shoulders.
"like what?" there's a shadow of a smirk on his lips as he pulls you in by the waist, pressing you into his chest. "with my handsome face and charming eyes?" his eyes soften when you let out a chuckle. "ever think that's why i look at you like that?"
"oh, i know. you sly devil." you say with a cheeky smile. you watch as he closes his eyes, leaning in to press a kiss that has your heart beating out of your chest. "i love you," you mumble as he leans back, his hands retreating back into his pockets, fingers playing with something under the fabric.
"i love you too," he nods with a lovesick grin, lifting a hand to push you towards the lift. "now go before you actually miss your flight."
his sweet smile and wave are the last thing you see before the elevator door closes, and you finally leave for hawaii.
bonus:
"hi, baby." your laugh fills the airport as kaiser lifts you into a hug, his eyes twinkling, and his hand tight around your waist. you hum, following his lead as he helps with your luggage. "did you miss me?"
"do you even have to ask?" he rolls his eyes at your teasing tone, nuzzling his nose against yours. "let's go home. i want you all to myself for the next few days."
"few days?" you raise an eyebrow, leaning your hand on his shoulder as he leads you out of the airport. "what about germany?"
"eh," he shrugs with a mischievous smile, taking your hand and pressing a kiss on it. "wanted to relax a bit more before heading back."
he eyes your other hand and the small bag in it, leaning down to press a kiss to your cheek before asking, "what's in the bag?"
"oh right!" jostling, you take your hand from his and dig into the bag, pulling out its content. "i got you a panda!" you say with a grin, showing the black-and-white plush doll to his face.
"and the most important detail!" you tug at the label on the panda's hip, stretching it for him to read. "imported from china, babe."
the rest of the airport stares in confusion as kaiser laughs like a mad man.
--
A massive snow storm delays Charlesâ flight home for the holidays and you both begin to give up hope but a Christmas miracle occurs.
Christmas was a bit of a mess this year.
December 24th and Charles Leclerc was stranded in Italy with Andrea and Joris. Charles had gone because he had a Christmas event to do with Ferrari, Joris and Andrea had accompanied him but they decided to go up north and go skiing for the remainder of the week.
They hadn't planned to push it so close to Christmas and then the snow came down; the stupid snow which blocked the roads and left them stranded in the mountains of Italy.
You were a bit disappointed when your boyfriend called to tell you that he wouldn't be able to make it home in time for Christmas. You asked him if there was anything you could do and he told you because of the snow, he wasn't exactly sure when he'd get home.
Charles could hear the disappointment in your voice, and it made him sad to know that he wasn't gonna be able to be home in time to spend Christmas with you.
It was as if Andrea could read Charles' mind; "what?"
"We have to get out of here, we need to go home."
"I know," Andrea tells him, Joris looks up from his laptop, "everything is closed, the roads, the airport, like.. we're stuck."
Charles was nothing if not determined. He made it his mission to make it home in time to spend Christmas with you - bit of a tight task considering it was 10pm on Christmas eve. Nonetheless, he and the boys rallied up - not like Joris or Andrea had a choice - and followed Charles out of the ski resort.
They made it about 2 miles down the road trudging through the snow before they finally came across a ski ranger, the man on his way down the mountain to pick up something they needed on the resort. He was kind enough to let them get in, the 3 of them squished into the back seat as the ranger drove them down. Due to the snow, it took them triple the time to go down than it took to go up but it was progress nonetheless.
Once they made it to the town, they were at crossroads again. How are they going to make it to the airport?
It was a one step at the time sort of plan, if they thought too far ahead, they'd just give up.
Joris wanders into the one place that was still open, a little bakery that was run by the older couple that lived there and they had a grandson who lived not too far off from the airport. The roads were cleared down there but they had no car.
The couple happened to be closing up for the night and on the way to their grandson's, the older woman took a liking to Joris, holding his arm as he led her over to their car.
"Charles!" Joris shouts, waving his friend over. Andrea and Charles wandering over. "Yeah?"
"This is Maria, she and her husband are on their way to grandson's, who lives like-" "He lives five minutes from the airport, let us take you."
"Are you sure?" Charles asks her, as much as he wants to get home, he wouldn't want to put a sweet old woman out of her way.
The woman pinches Charles's cheek, "yes please, I cannot leave you out in the cold. Come, come." She tells him, Andrea helps the older gentleman put all the luggage into the trunk, the 5 of them getting into the car - Charles, Joris and Andrea squished into the backseat again.
The older gentleman, Joe, was just as sweet and welcoming as his wife. They told them stories from when they moved there, how they opened their bakery and their family. As much as Charles appreciated their kind gesture, he was wondering if maybe he should have offered to drive them to the airport.
At some point, an excruciatingly long 3 hour drive - Joe drove slower than most, they made it to the airport.
Maria rolls the window down, saying goodbye to Joris. The photographer holds her hand as she calls for Charles. "Make sure you come back! And bring your girlfriend."
"We will, thank you both so much. I don't know what I can do to repay you."
"Take us to the race next year," Joe calls from next to his wife. Charles laughs, "sounds good, I'll come back and bring your passes."
The 3 of them run into the airport, the boards in front of them display only one word listed to all of the flights - canceled.
Big, bold, red letters crush Charles's heart and his chances of getting home.
Joris pats his friend's shoulder, Andrea already one step ahead of them trying to see if they were anything they could get on to make it home in time - after all, he wanted to get home to his family too.
It's an hour of Andrea bickering with the very tired and annoyed woman behind the counter before Charles joins him, asking her if there was anything they could get on to go home.
The flight to France was 2 hours, he'd manage anything at this point.
"There's one flight, a small passenger plane. I'd have to ask the pilot first."
"Please," Charles says, "I'll pay extra if I need to."
After what felt like another hour the woman finds them and tells them to follow her; she checks them in, getting their passes to them before directing them to where they'd meet the pilot for their flight.
When she said it was a small plane, Charles was expecting small but not this small.
The plane looked like those water planes you'd take from the mainland to an island - it didn't hold more than 6 people.
Charles is just clinging to his seat, counting down the minutes until he can get off that plane. He feels his ears pop, the thud as the plane meets the runway in Nice and he's thanking every god out there for that. They thank the pilot, trying to figure out if they should take the train or just drive home.
None of them have a car at the airport and thank god, it wasn't snowing.
It was Christmas morning, the airport was a madhouse and Charles didn't typically do this but he did use his F1 status to get them a rental, he signed a few autographs for the staff behind the counter and they were off again.
The sun is peeking over the Monaco pier, Andrea drove them home because Charles was too antsy to drive. They dropped him off first.
"Thank you guys, really." He says, standing on the curb with his suitcase.
"We didn't have a choice," Joris tells him jokingly, Andrea nods. "Tell y/n we said Merry Christmas."
"I will," Charles smiles, wishing his friends well before waving them off.
It was good to be home; the man made his way up to your shared apartment, the lights off as you were still sleeping - your soft snores filling his ears as he quietly made his way to the bedroom.
You're tucked away under the covers, the blanket wrapped you up and kept you warm during a lack of Charles in bed. He knew you were a deep sleeper, the fact that he had accidentally slammed the door and it hadn't woken you was sign enough.
He stripped out of his clothes, making his way to the bathroom to brush his teeth. At some point he thought he heard you shift, he peeked out the door way to find you still sleeping.
Charles joined you in bed shortly after, his arm snaking around your waist, the coldness from the bracelet he had on startled you. Your body responded before you could, taking a second to gather your thoughts - the fight or flight kicking in.
He presses a kiss to the back of your shoulder, the smell of his cologne and toothpaste filled your surroundings. "Charles, you're home," you whispered, turning to face the man.
You couldn't fully believe it, not after his call last night, telling you that he wouldn't be making it home.
Your boyfriend smiles, kissing your forehead. "I'm here."
"How?" You mumbled, moving closer to him. Charles's hand presses to your back, rubbing the bare skin softly. "It's a long story, for another time."
You hum, not really caring for the story at the moment. All that matters is that Charles was home and he was home for Christmas. You opened your eyes slightly, peeking at your boyfriend. Both of you wore the same sleepy look - you having just woken up and Charles after a long night of traveling.
You kissed his chin, the man hummed in response. You follow the structure of his face, moving from his chin to his jaw and up to his sideburns, down his cheeks and finally to his lips. Charles pulls you flush against him, his lips holding your hostage.
It had been a long week apart and you both missed each other terribly. Andrea often says you two are like high school kids, all young and in love.
Your arms wrap over his shoulders, pulling the man on top of you. Charles settled himself between your hips. Your boyfriend pulls away from your lips, much to your dismay and finds himself moving down to your neck, along your collarbones and to your chest. Now propped up on your elbows, you watch as your boyfriend's head dips, his teeth softly grazing your stomach on his way to between your legs.
Charles glances up at you and pulls your panties to the side. He was close enough that you could feel his breath on you, your head dropping back when his tongue finally met you.
You look down at your boyfriend between your legs; the man smiling up at you as his arms hook your thighs to pull down flat on his face.Â
Your hips buck when you feel his tongue against your clit, your hand gripping on his hair. Charlesâs hand on your hip rocks you back and forth slightly, just enough that he can hear his name fall from your lips.Â
Your hand rests on his cheek, âI can't believe you're home.â Your eyes meet his blue ones.Â
âI'm right here, baby.â
You pull him back down for another kiss. Charlesâ hand slips between the two of you, thumb pressed to your clit. Your back arches from the sudden touch, moaning against his lips.Â
Charles smiles, his heart fluttering every time knowing heâs the one that reduces you to nothing more than a whimpering mess.Â
âPlease,â you pull on his hair, âCharles.âÂ
âWhat?â He asks, rubbing circles with his thumb.Â
You canât help the whimper slipping past your lips. âFuck me, please.â You ask sweetly and how could he ever say no to you?Â
Charles finds himself moving to hitch your leg on his hip, lining himself up with you before pushing into you. Your back arches and he gives you a second to adjust to him before moving. Youâre biting your lip so hard, you probably drew blood.
Your hand drags down his torso, pressed against his toned stomach when you speak. âYou feel so good,â you whisper, knowing you canât speak any louder. Â
âYeah?â He calls, hand slipping between the two of you.Â
Your red nails, painted for the holidays, digging into his skin, leaving matching red marks matching the colour of your nails against his pale skin. âFuck- please yes.âÂ
Charles doesnât quit; his fingers rubbing on your clit, the other hand moving your leg from his hip to rest over his shoulder. Just when his ego couldnât get any bigger, it did. The 16 hanging off the silver chain around your neck, sitting flat against your sternum.Â
He canât help but lean down and press a kiss to it, in the process pushing your leg back. The sound that left your mouth was nothing if not music to his ears.Â
The sudden ego boost, Charles takes his chance to ask you. âWho makes you feel this good, amour?âÂ
Youâre trying to answer him but between keeping the same position and his excruciating pace, you couldn't bring yourself to answer him.Â
Charles asks again. âWho makes you feel this good, amour ?âÂ
A strangled answer slips past your swollen lips; âYou, only you Charles.âÂ
The answer satisfies his ego, his focus is making you cum. His hips hitting the back of your thighs, your boyfriend has now moved your other leg over his shoulders.Â
âCharles-â you call, your eyes meeting his. He can feel the way youâre clenching around him, his hand moving back to your clit.Â
âI know,â he hums, âme too.âÂ
A few more sloppy thrusts and both of you fall over the edge, one after the other. Charles kisses by your ankle before letting your legs down, settling against you between your legs still.Â
Passing a hand through his hair, you smile at your boyfriend; his eyes all droopy and a sleepy smile on his face.
"You're here," you whispered, he nodded and his stubble scratched against your bare skin. "I'm here."
You hum quietly, the sun shining through the curtains in the room, the two of you cuddled up in each other's arms.
"Shall we open gifts?" Charles asks and you shake your head, "they're not going anywhere, let's stay in bed for a bit longer."
He smiles, pressing a kiss to your soft skin. "I like that idea."
You went to Iceland with your girlfriend Misa over the winter break. It had been one of your dreams for a long time to fly to Iceland and Misa made it possible for you
It was like a little surprise. You knew where you were going but you didn't know exactly either
âVenga Iâm so excitedâ Misa grabs your hand and pulls you across the airport to the baggage claim area
âMaria what are we going to do can you finally tell me?â you say laughing slightly and trotting behind your girlfriend
"I mean we are in Iceland let me surprise you I'm sure you will like it" Misa said in her strong Canarian dialect that always made you melt
You stomp around on the floor like a little child and say after confirmation as Misa takes a step forward to get your luggage from the conveyor belt
âMaria can we go get something to eat pleaseâ you asked her and pushed your bottom lip forward slightly
âYes of courseâ she says with a laugh and pushes you forward with her front
It's cold outside as is often the case in Iceland. Misa is looking for the car she rented for the days
"Misa we've been running around here for what feels like half an eternity when are we finally here" she laughs again at your behavior and points with her finger at a black bmw
She unlocked the car to carry your things in. You already sat in the car because it was too cold outside for you
She sat in the car and brought in a huge cold. You shiver frostily. "Oh Misa close the door I'm freezing to death" You say shakily and grab Misa's hand. "Hey baby thanks for being here I really appreciate you" you tell her and you look into her radiant brown eyes, which are always so full of love and loyality
âAlways the best for you bonita you know I would fulfill your every wishâ she tells you and pulls you in for a gentle kiss your lips touch and press tightly together
She tries to pull you closer to feel every corner of your lips. The first thing you do is let go and focus on the road. She puts her hand on your thigh and starts the car to drive off
at every stoplight she gives you quick little kisses and leaves you with a pout
It was a wonderful evening in the restaurant. You laughed a lot together by candlelight. Misa's beautiful smile came into your eyes at every opportunity and her hair gently brushed her shoulders. She looked at you like she did on the first day
The evening went by quickly and you wanted to make your way to the hotel âYou havenât even shown me a picture of the hotel yet Misaâ you say with a pout, leaning against her shoulder as she enters the address into her GPS
"I told you it is a surprise" she looks over at you and gives you a kiss on the tip of your nose. You frown slightly and give yourself completely to her
âMisa you know I trust you with my lifeâ you tell her familiarly and she smiles, puts her chin against your cheek and lightly strokes your arm
"I know amor and so I trust you with mine mh"
She says and turns to the steering wheel to start the engine. She drove off and on the way the beautiful landscape of Iceland came into your face. Your eyes sparkle from the sight
When you arrived at your hotel, Misa drove through small mountains of snow and looked for the parking space. You quickly wrapped yourself in your scarf and hat and opened the door
It was very windy so you buried your whole face in your thick jacket. Misa took care of your luggage and you made your way to your little hut, which had to be opened with a numerical code
When you went in you immediately got the feeling of warmth. There was a single room and a bathroom. There was a huge bed in the middle of the room and next to it there was a small kitchen and a closet. Only when you looked up you see the huge glass dome You could see the whole sky and your jaw dropped
âDo you like itâ Misa smiled and you jumped into her arms
"It's beautiful Misa" you nuzzle against her neck and she holds you up in the air with one arm
"I knew you would like it" she says and kisses you tenderly. You lean into the kiss and put your hands around her neck. You try to deepen the kiss but she pushes you away
âPlease put on something comfortable and come to bed with me I want to show you the shooting starsâ
You did what you were told. You came back in a thick sweater and sweatpants from Misa. You put your hair in a bun
You see your girlfriend lying on the bed, she looks so comfortable, she has prepared a small bowl of fruit for you
You lie down next to her and she greets you with a little kiss. "Hey finally you're here are you ready?" she asks you excitedly
you nod eagerly "look there" she says you immediately look up and see a sky full of polar lights and stars
âWow itâs so beautiful Iâve never seen anything like thatâ you say with a huge smile on your lips âyes itâs beautifulâ
âMisa youâre not lookingâ you say and look into her eyes
âYou know I think Iâve fallen in love with youâ she says, gently stroking your cheek
"For now" you say, slightly confused and Misa pulls you into her arms "I've loved you since I kissed you for the first time and it's been 4 months but I think I can talk about real love from now on"
âSee a shooting starâ you say excitedly and close your eyes to make a wish
"Did you wish for something Misa?" you ask her
âyes babyâ she whispers, placing her lips on your forehead
Tell me your opinion <3
Subject To Change: Prologue
Tyler Owens x Reader
Summary: Itâs been five years since youâve been back home and when life brings you back to your hometown you find that while some things have changed, others have stayed the same. Your brother still has his head in the clouds but the cowboy currently sleeping in your childhood bedroom is definitely a new development. Youâre trying to avoid falling into old patterns but maybe some of them arenât so bad after all.
Chapter CW: Angst, swearing
Word Count: 0.8k
A/N: Here we goooooo!!!
Series Masterlist // Next Chapter
The cab driver gives you a dirty look that you try to avoid as you tip him generously for coming out to drop you off where every other driver refused. The ride had already left a sizable dent in your wallet, but finding a driver willing to drive so far from the airport was a miracle. If anyone understands underappreciated miracle workers, it's you. He wastes no time in pealing away back down the dirt road, blowing up a cloud of dust behind you that kisses the end of your slacks, holding onto you like a homecoming hug as you finally turn to face the dusty path up to your parentsâ farmhouse.
It's been years since youâve been home but in a split second, youâre that little girl with pigtails, kicking up a cloud in her wake as her tiny feet pounded up the drive to your country castle. Now it feels like youâre walking against the wind of your past decisions as you make your way up to the dark porch, and the last of summer's sun creeps past the horizon. When you make it to the porch, your stomach clenches in guilty protest as you step onto it. Suddenly youâre a teenager again, out past curfew as muscle memory guides your hands to the hidden spare key, and before you know it youâre turning the knob, stopping just before the tell-tale squeak thatâs given away your entrance more times than youâd care to admit.
It feels wrong, you think, that the house looks the same as the way you left it. You try to ignore the fact that it seems frozen in time like you never left and never looked back. Thereâs a light on in the kitchen like there always has been. The most replaced bulb in the house, a lighthouse, a beacon for everyone whoâs passed through these four walls and it seems to whisper to you that itâs alright and youâre welcome when you know that logically youâre anything but. You tear your eyes away as your feet carry you up the stairs, stepping this way and that to avoid old creaks and discovering new ones worn in by the pattern of avoiding the old ones. Your eyes find the darkness under your parentsâ door and you release a breath you didnât know you were holding. Youâre not ready to face them.
When you make it to your door, you take a deep breath as you turn the knob and swing the wood open. Your eyes refamiliarize themselves with the shadows that haunted your childhood nights and you feel at home with the ghosts of your past. The narrow silhouette of the full-length mirror. The hulking form of the antique dresser made by your grandfatherâs worn hands years before you were even born. The elegant spires of your four-poster bed, another gift of your grandfatherâs, but this time accompanied with memories of you dancing around the barn as he works the wood to your childish whims. You sigh and kick off the heels that have your toes aching and let them dig into the raggedy scruff of the carpet. You cross over to the dresser, swing it open, and locate your pajamas easily even with the cover of darkness. Thereâs something final about turning on the lights, like youâll be revealing your arrival to that little girl whoâs been waiting in her ivory tower for you to come home.
The exhaustion has caught up with you and you let yourself trudge towards your bed, shoulders slumped to match the state of your mind. You collapse onto the bed, forgoing the covers, too exhausted to pull them back but instead of the comfortable embrace of your time-worn mattress, your body collides with something hard and you feel the air knocked out of your lungs as you gasp in a silent scream. The hardness under you stirs and then it shifts and your body is shifting on top of it, and youâre so frozen in shocked confusion that you donât think to scramble to grab at the blankets for purchase until itâs too late, and as quickly as youâre falling, you hit the group and the air is punched out of your lungs yet again. A bare foot lands by your head and then you turn it to look up the attached leg to the man thatâs blinking sleepily down at you.
From this angle itâs hard to see much, especially since the room is dark, at least until the lamp on your bedside table snaps to life as the man jerks the short chain, flooding the shadows with a warm glow that silhouettes the shirtless man sitting up in your childhood bed. His dark blonde hair is sticking up in various places, and heâs blinking down at you. A thousand emotions are running through your head, fear, shock, confusion, and finally anger. You manage to collect your limbs enough to sit up, ignoring the way your hair is falling over your face in disarray from being thrown unceremoniously off the bed as you glare up at the mystery man.
âWho the fuck are you?â
Road trip || Leah Williamson x reader
Masterlist | Prompt list
Part of the mini Williamson series.
Summary you and Leah decide to take Ami on a road trip before little miss arrives.
âąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâąâą
âEverything packed?â You asked Leah as she walked through door, having put all the suitcases in the car.
Youâd decided to take Amelia away for a few days down to Cornwall before the baby came.
After the whole situation at the airport and Ami thinking you loved the baby more than her, you figured it would be a good idea to take her away just the three of you.
You were only going for a few nights due to you being so late in your pregnancy but it was classed as an emergency for you, desperately wanting to savour this time with Ami.
âEverythingâs all packed. Ready to go?â Leah asked, wrapping her arm round your waist.
You hummed quietly, still sleepy considering you were leaving at 6am to try beat traffic.
Leah crept upstairs, lifting Ami from her bed, trying her best to keep her asleep.
âMummy?â Ami mumbled into Leahâs neck.
âIâm here, bubba. Go back to sleep.â Leah said, kissing her head as she went down the stairs.
Leah buckled Amelia into her car seat before jumping in the drivers seat.
âRight, pretty girl, all ready to go?â Leah asked, a big grin on her face.
âYouâre kidding.â You sighed
âWhat?â Leah questioned, confused as hell.
âLe, you forgot to lock the door.â You pointed out
âI knew I forgot something.â
â
âCan we stop at the next services, baby? Little miss is kicking me right in the bladder.â You said, moving around in your seat to get comfortable.
It was about the fifth time in two hours youâd said them words.
âSure, love. Theyâre seven miles away.â
After being on the road for not even six miles since stopping, you were asking Leah to stop again.
And again and again.
â
Youâd finally managed to make it to the small holiday house you were staying in, after stopping what must have been twenty times.
âBeach!â Ami cheered, seeing the beach at the bottom of the small hill.
âWe go later, bubba.â You told her, opening the boot and attempting to get a bag out.
âWoah, no. You go sit down, Iâve got these.â Leah said, jumping into action and taking the bag from you.
âLeââ You began but Leah cut you off.
ââNo. You got put your feet up and relax. Me and Ami can bring these inside, canât we, bubba?â
âYes mummy.â Amelia nodded with a grin, taking the bag, which only had a few bits in and taking it inside.
âYou and little miss go rest, we wonât be long.â Leah said, pressing her lips to your cheek.
âThank you.â
â
âBeach now?â Ami babbled, pointing out the window to the sand and sea.
âHmm. What do you think mummy? Should we take Ami to the beach?â You jokingly asked, Leah going along with it too.
âMaybe.â Leah said, tapping her finger on her chin.
âPlease mummy. Please mama.â Amelia begged, doing her best puppy eyes, knowing somehow at just two years old, that you and Leah canât say no to them.
âGo on then. Go find your goggles.â Leah smiles, Ami running round excitedly.
â
âThat feels nice.â You told Leah, who was massaging sun cream into your back.
âWhereâs is sore?â Leah questioned and you guided her hands to where you needed it massaged.
Delicately rubbing the knots of tension out, Leah watched as Ami built sand castles.
âAll done, babe. Time for the bump now.â Leah squirted more sun cream onto her hand before laying on her stomach and rubbing the cream into your heavily pregnant baby bump. âHi, bubba. Are you fighting mamaâs bladder in there?â
âShe is.â You sigh, playing the baby hairs on Leahâs neck.
âYouâve got to come out soon, little miss. We all want to meet you.â Leah whispered, kissing the bump tenderly.
âMummy, swim!â Ami encouraged, holding onto Leahâs hand and trying to pull her up.
âIâm coming, Iâm coming.â Leah told her, smiling widely at how excited Ami was.
âMama watch.â Amelia exclaimed, before running and splashing in the water.
âYouâre such a brave girl, Ami! Your baby sister is going to think youâre a hero when sheâs born.â You said, hoping to somehow make Ami more excited about her little sister.
âMe love sissy.â Ami cheered, pressing a kiss to your bump.
You and Leah shared a look of achievement.
Maybe this holiday was all you needed to clear all those emotions.
Happy Pride! Authors choice! đłïžâđđłïžââ§ïž
a continuation of 1
Gus is going exactly eight miles over the speed limit when the sirens start.
This is Shawnâs fault, since heâs the one that had agreed to meet Gavin right before they were supposed to be at Henryâs. When he glances up to see the large, white cop heading towards him, he decides that if Shawnâs gotten him into this mess, he can get him out.
Shawn is very, very serious about keeping his work and personal life separate, but this is the one instance that he encourages Gus to break that barrier. If more major cities had a diverse police force, he wouldnât feel like it was necessary quite so often.Â
Unfortunately, since Shawn has yet to get the appropriate stationary, heâll have to go back a generation with this trick.
âWhatâs this?â the officer says, staring at the back of his license.
âOh, thatâs my father in lawâs old police business card,â he says. Shawn reaches out for it back when he does this, but Gus keeps his hands on ten and two. âApologies, sir, Iâve been carrying that thing around for years. Can never be too careful, as Iâm sure you know.â
His eyes flick to Gusâs hand and the gold band on his ring finger. âYouâre Henry Spencerâs son-in-law?â
âYes, sir,â he answers evenly. âIâm actually headed to his place now. You know how he is about punctuality.â
That gets him half a chuckle and the tension in his shoulders starts to ease, up until the officer asks, âI thought Henry had a son?â
It can be a delicate balance, weighing the potential racism against the potential homophobia, but this isnât Gusâs first time doing this either. âLots of people think that. Itâs the unfortunate name choice.â
That gets him some more sounds of amusements, then his license is being handed back to him. âTell Henry and the missus that old Kingfisher says hello.â
âOf course, thank you, sir,â Gus says, pleasant smile firmly in place until old Kingfisher is back in his car.
He carefully pulls back onto the road and stays five below the speed limit the rest of the way.
Thereâs a lack of rusted piece of junk motorcycle out front â Gus would prefer it if Shawn would just buy a decent bike, but he likes tinkering too much for that â and he wishes he was surprised. Henryâs grilling in the yard and he waves a hand in greeting as soon as he steps out. âGus! What the hell are you driving?â
If only Shawn was here right now, because heâd said the exact same thing when heâd pulled up in the blue Echo and he was still valiantly fighting against the very real truth that he and his father can be uncannily alike. âItâs a rental.â
Henry wrinkles his nose, but any further commentary is cut off by an obnoxiously loud engine as Shawn turns the corner and parks next to him, kicking down the stand and pulling off his helmet in one motion. He clocks the look on both their faces immediately and holds up a hand. âI know, I know, donât be the moldy grape at the bottom of the bag about it. Iâll fix it this weekend. Iâve already put in the order for some of the parts.â
Thatâs sort of the truth. Theyâre going to the junkyard on Saturday so Shawn can play Frankenstein, but there are a couple things he buys new every time because one motorcycle accident due to a worn belt was one too many for Gus.
âCanât you two just get a couple of normal cars?â Henry sighs.
âThis is a normal car!â he protests, holding the gate for Shawn to walk ahead of him. He really hopes that he didnât meet with the mayor in jeans and a flannel, but he also knows better. Shawn slaps his ass as he walks by, and heâs tempted to yank him back into a kiss, but Henry hasnât seen them since he picked them up at the airport and he figures they can be on somewhat good behavior for at least one dinner.
âI have dubbed it the Blueberry,â Shawn says, using the same voice he does when giving stupid names to chess pieces.
Henry rolls his eyes even as he pulls Shawn down to ruffle his hair, causing him to yelp and pull away, even though the helmet had flattened it enough that heâs probably doing Shawn a favor.
Itâs all normal and familiar and they eat dinner on the porch, the weather a welcome relief after the last couple of years on the East Coast. Gus is thinking about how nice it is to be back in Santa Barbara and how much happier Henry looks than when he was in Miami, and thatâs probably only partly to he and Shawn moving back too, when Henry says, âWhat are you boys doing for work now? Gus, Shawn said something about you working on some sort of drug trial?â
Which is when he realizes that Shawn hasnât told Henry why theyâre back like he promised he would and Gus should have known that he would chicken out, but now heâs trapped at this table. He considers simply fleeing and locking Shawn out until he talks to his father. Henryâs seen him do worse.
Thereâs really no such thing as impressing the in-laws for him. Well, maybe with Madeline, but Henry knows him too well and has known him too long for there to be any of that. Shawnâs mother has too, technically, but he saw her a lot less than Henry.
âYeah, heâs an executive at Middle Earth Pharmaceuticals,â Shawn says, as if Gus hasnât frozen with the fork halfway to his mouth. Henry is frowning. Itâs too late.
âItâs Central Coast Pharmaceuticals, Shawn,â he says, lowering his fork. Henryâs steak is his favorite and now he canât even enjoy it because itâs a steak built on lies.
He shrugs. âIâve heard it both ways. They want him to revamp their internal systems and rearrange some routes. Plus theyâre hoping they can use his contacts to make more sales.â
That last part had been more implied than listed in his job duties, but heâs not wrong. âMore or less.â
âAlright,â Henry says slowly, now aware that thereâs something wrong but not having yet figured it out. He still has time to run. âWhat about you, Shawn? Surf instructor? Ballon animal operator? Sommelier?â
âDad, please, you know Iâd never cheat on Gus,â he answers. Gus can feel his knee bouncing underneath the table against his own, the only sign of his anxiety.
Gus clears his throat. âI know you know what a sommelier is, Shawn. Youâve worked at two different wineries.â
âWell, neither of them were French,â he says, as if that doesnât prove that he knows exactly what it is.
Henry leans back in his seat, staring them down in a way that reminds him uncomfortably of their childhood. The line between Cop Henry and Dad Henry had always been thin and retirement hadnât really done much to change that. Gus stares at the space over his head while Shawn continues eating with faux obliviousness. Finally, Henry says, âAlright, just tell me. It has to be better than Boston. I hated you working out there with those assholes.â
Gus slinks down in his seat.
Henry frowns before straightening. âYouâre not working in Los Angeles again, are you? Shawn, you made enemies there, a lot of them, you canât just waltz back in, and Karen isnât there anymore-â
âItâs not Los Angeles,â Shawn interrupts.
His frown deepens. He knows if it was another stupid, casual job then Shawn would have told him already. âThis isnât like Argentina, is it?â
God, Argentina. That had sucked. It was supposed to be legit, and had been, up until Shawn had gotten involved in â well, Gus does his best not to think about it, since heâs not supposed to know anything about it. Neither is Henry. As far as theyâre supposed to know, Shawn worked at an Argentinian winery for a year.
And he did! At least on paper.
âNope,â Shawn says, popping his mouth on the last syllable.
âAlright, enough,â he says, âthis is ridiculous, just tell meâŠâ As he trails off, his eyes get wider. Gus doesnât whimper, because heâs a grown man, and because of exposure. Heâs nearly immune to Henryâs temper after all this time.
Nearly.
âShawn!â he shouts. âYou are not working at the SBPD!â
Gus stands abruptly, his chair screeching against the floor. Shawn reaches out to grab onto his shirt, but Gus hops back. âIâll just get started on the dishes, shall I?â
âTraitor,â Shawn hisses, but Gus refuses to feel bad about this.
As much as he doesnât want to be a widower, he knows better than to get in-between Shawn and his father.
Y/Nâs POV
âWe will be arriving at the Incheon International Airport in 15 minutes," the captain's voice crackled over the intercom. I felt my hands cramp from clutching the armrest for so long. Exhaustion was slowly creeping in, but I was determined to hold out until I reached the hotel. I've never been fond of flying, so I attempted to stay awake for as long as possible. However, my efforts were in vain; I drifted off and only woke up when the turbulence jolted me from my sleep. Since then, I've been wide awake, anxiously awaiting our landing.
Taking off and landing are always the most nerve-wracking parts of flying for me. However, when the pilot announced that we had arrived at our destination on this particular flight, I realized that I hadn't even felt the plane touchdown. Perhaps I was just too lost in my thoughts to notice. I patiently waited for other passengers to pull out their bags before reaching for mine. A courteous older gentleman insisted that I go ahead of him, and I expressed my gratitude. Once my luggage appeared on the carousel, I hailed an Uber to the hotel. After retrieving my belongings, I skillfully weaved through the crowds and exited the main doors.
I spotted a cluster of cameras and excited fans as I approached the exit, signifying celebrities' imminent arrival. Feeling relieved, I silently expressed gratitude for being able to leave before the chaos ensued. Loading my luggage into the waiting Uber, I settled into the back seat and informed the driver of my resort. Once inside, I unzipped my carry-on and reached for my phone. As my fingertips brushed against the screen, a distinct memory I'd been trying to suppress suddenly flooded my mind, and I quickly returned the phone to my bag, unsure if I was ready to confront it just yet.
Closing the bag, I take a deep breath and shut my eyes. I begin counting backward from 10 to 1, trying to calm my racing thoughts. "It's okay," I reassure myself, "I can make it through the day without dwelling on it." Eventually, I'll have to switch it back on or maybe consider getting a new phone altogether.
I arrived at my temporary sanctuary, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. The check-in process was a bit of a blur as I was eager to settle in. After receiving the key to my room, I made my way through the corridors until I finally reached my destination. As I entered the room, I couldn't wait to collapse onto the comfortable bed and unwind after a long journey. As I lay down and rested my head on the soft pillow, I quickly succumbed to slumber, and soon, darkness enveloped me.
Bang Chanâs POV
I loved my lifestyle. The music, fan adoration, the energy of live performances, and the camaraderie with fellow musicians were incredibly enriching. The thrill and allure of those experiences paled compared to the sheer delight of raising a five-year-old daughter. As we strolled through the airport, a profound sense of joy surged through my entire being.
Once we hit the road, Felix turns to me and asks, âWhat do you think Miryung is doing about this time?â I can't help but grin. âWell, if she's listening to Mrs. Kim, she should be napping.â Lee Know glances at me with a small smile of his own.âYou say that like you know she isn't going to do that.â I can't help but run my tongue over the inside of my cheek. âOne of her uncles taught her how to use YouTube to watch videos of her father, particularly when he arrives or departs from an airport.â I focus my gaze on the culprit. "Hey! She pleaded with me to show her. I can't say no when she gives me those irresistible puppy eyes." Han reenacts what she did to him while Lee Know hurls his neck pillow at him and purposely hits him in the face.
When I arrived at the house, I bid farewell to the guys and pulled my luggage from the van. While carrying my bags to the front door, I noticed something new on the porch. To my surprise, an angel statue was placed there. I instantly recognized it as the statue that had been stored in the attic for quite a while.
âOh, Channie, let's look at the garden gnomes! I bet they have some cute ones I can put in the yard.â Ryung pulls my hand toward the garden statues. âRy, have I ever told you how strong you are since you got pregnant?â I hummed as I rubbed my hand over her still-growing bump. She smiles up at me with those honey-colored eyes. Oh, how I wished our baby had her eyes. I wished she had her everything.
As soon as I looked at her, it was crystal clear: Miyrung was the spitting image of her late mother. I shook my head, anticipating the problematic conversation I would need to have with her. I inserted the keys into the lock, turned the doorknob, and entered the house.
As I set my bags down, I heard feet running across the floor. âDaddy!â I opened my arms as Miryung jumped into them. I hold her tightly as a litter kisses all over her chubby face. âDaddy quit!â I shook my head as I pulled back. âNo, ma'am, I will not quit. I'm your Dad; I can kiss you as often as possible.â She would generally try to fight back with me, though this time, she doesn't.
She places her head on my chest. âI missed you, Daddy.â There it is, the heartbreaking. I knew trying to raise a child alone in a world like mine wasn't all rainbows and unicorns. It was hard, but luckily, with the company's support, fans, guys, and family, I could take time away to raise Miryung properly. When she reached a certain age, I could return to my everyday hectic lifestyle.
âI missed you too, Pumpkin,â I say, kissing her on the top of her head. Knowing that she wasn't going to release her grip on me anytime soon, I guided us over to the couch and settled down.âDid you behave for Mrs. Kim while I was away?" When she looks up, her eyes widen. "Yes, Daddy, I was good.â I arch an eyebrow at her. "Come on, Miryung. You know I taught you always to tell the truth. Don't start lying to me now." Her gaze drops, filled with guilt, and her bottom lip trembles. âI'm sorry, Daddy. I know I'm not supposed to go into the attic, but one night, I saw you putting some of Mommy's things away. I didn't want to forget about her, so I pulled out her Angel statue.â
Miryung gazed back at me, her eyes filled with tears, and at that moment, it was as if a sharp blade had pierced through my heart. âPumpkin, it's not just that you pulled your Momâs angel statue down; you were up there alone. What would have happened if you had fallen off one of those beams or the latter came back up and closed on you? Miryung, you would have been trapped up there, and Mrs. Kim would have been looking for you everywhere.â I pushed her brown locks behind her ear.
âI just want you to be safe. Okay?â I gently pull her back into my embrace as she bobs her head, feeling her warmth against my chest. I fight back the tears as I look up towards the ceiling. âI would never want to get rid of you, Ry. Ever.â I soon hear a stomach growl, and I canât fight back the smile that graces my face. âDo you want to order takeout?â
Y/Nâs POV
I was drying a whiskey glass when I heard the door slam shut with a resounding bang. Startled, the glass slipped from my hands and crashed onto the hard floor, shattering into pieces. Frantically attempting to clean up before he noticed, I accidentally cut myself on the shards, but I hardly noticed the pain. "WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!?!" His voice boomed from the other room as he stormed into the kitchen. I hastily discarded the broken glass as he approached. I instinctively clasped my hands over my stomach, trying to shield it from view. I could tell he noticed this as his expression darkened, and he felt even more anger.
âDid you take care of that matter as I requested?â He inquired, his intense brown eyes burning with fury. âANSWER ME! DID YOU?!â He bellowed, causing me to flinch. "No," I responded timidly. "What?" he demanded. "No," I repeated, trying to speak with more conviction. The sudden sting of a slap across my face barely fazes me as I grit my teeth. However, the vice-like grip around my windpipe sends a jolt of fear through me.âYou fucking worthless bitch! I told you when I came home, you better have taken those drugs and obliterated that fatuous newborn!!â I could barely get half a breath while clawing at his hands to get free. That only made it worse as he tightened his grip. âAd-der p-pl-please.â I was breathless, tears streaming down my cheeks, and I watched as dark spots appeared in my peripheral vision.
âI TOLD YOU THAT HEATHEN ISNâT MINE!! I KNOW IT IS SOMEONE ELSEâS!â Adder flung me into the nearest wall. "Ad-Adder, I haven't left the house. It can-" The next blow landed on my face. âDONâT FUCKING LIE TO ME! I KNOW YOUâVE BEEN HANGING AROUND DANIEL! I'VE SEEN THE WAY YOU LOOK HIM! IS IT HIS, HUH?! IS IT!!!â No words escaped my lips before a powerful kick landed on my swollen belly. âNo, no, no, NO!â
I suddenly woke up from a vivid dream, or what felt more like a memory. My body was drenched in sweat, and I was trembling uncontrollably. I hugged myself tightly and burst into tears. Grabbing a nearby pillow, I unleashed all my pent-up agony and frustration with a gut-wrenching scream. âIâm so s-sorry, my b-baby.â I choked up, clinching on the pillow for dear life. âI-Iâm sorry I-I did-didnât protect y-you.â
(I'm honestly really excited for this series! I think this will be a good one. đ€đ»đ€đ» If you would like to be added to the taglist, just lmk in the comments đ)
Iâm sorry, I love you - Lost the Breakup Part 2
OP81 x reader, ex!LN4 x reader
Warnings: swearing, slut shaming, poorly written angst
A/n: hi, I'm sorry it took so long for a part two, I wasn't expecting part one to do so well and I hadn't decided where I wanted to take it .
Previous part // Next part
You shuffle into the kitchen around 7am. Oscar is sitting at the breakfast bar drinking a protein shake.Â
âMorning.â You mumble, still half asleep.Â
Oscar chuckles lightly and stands up. He grabs you a mug and pours a coffee for you.
âMilk? Sugar?â He asks gently. You shake your head and pull the mug towards yourself.
Oscar fiddles with the hem of his shirt before sighing. âSo uhâŠâ He rubs the back of his neck. âCan we just forget about what I said last night? Not the winning for you part, I, uh, meant that bit, But the other stuff. It was just a lot of adrenaline, you know? And I-âÂ
âItâs fine, Oscarâ You cut him off, âAlready forgottenâÂ
He smiles and nods. âIâm about to go on a run, but if you want to put a list together we can do some groceries later?â
âCan we stop by my old place? I need to grab some stuff.â You ask, sipping the warm coffee.Â
âOf courseâ, Oscar heads for the door, âIâll see you later.â
â
You slide into the passenger seat of Oscarâs Mclaren Artura, one of the perks of his job. In one hand you hold a list of groceries and the keys to your and Landos flat, in the other is your phone. Oscar seamlessly steers the car onto the road heading towards the closest grocery store.Â
You glance down at your phone fiddling around to avoid saying anything to Oscar. Things had been tense since last night, despite Oscarâs apology this morning.Â
Oscar glanced towards you. He cleared his throat.Â
âSo I need to give you a heads up about something, â He began, focusing on the road. âSomeone managed to get some photos of me dropping you off at the airport and the media is making it seem like something itâs not.âÂ
Your head whipped towards Oscar but he didnât look back at you.Â
âI am so sorry Oscarâ You looked towards your hands on your lap, âI never shouldâve gotten you involved. I can move out and find a hotel. You donât need to be dealing with this on top of everything with Mclaren and the championship battle.â You began to pick at your nails absently, pulling up hotels on your phone.Â
âHey, whoa whoa, I never said you had to move out. I just wanted to tell you so that youâre not blindsided.â He reached over and squeezed your knee. â I donât care what people think. Youâre my friend, I'm not going to leave you homeless.â Â
Oscar smoothly pulled up outside your old apartment building.Â
âDo you want me to come up?âÂ
You shook your head and opened the car door, âIâll be quickâÂ
âÂ
The flat was quiet when you opened the door, maybe you got lucky and Lando was out.? You heard footsteps approaching and you knew that you had no such luck. Lando leant against the doorframe to the living room.Â
âAre you done fucking my teammate then?âÂ
You scoffed and rolled your eyes, making your way towards the bedroom. âIâm not going to even answer that question, given how ridiculous that accusation is.â
It was Landoâs turn to scoff, following you towards the bedroom where you had dragged a suitcase out of the closet and were now shoving the contents of your wardrobe into it.Â
âI think itâs a perfectly reasonable assumptionâ He snarled, âThere are photos of you basically sucking his face off and you moved in with him before we were even officially done.âÂ
You stood up straight and stalked towards him, â Last I checked, I wasnât the one who called their girlfriend who has only ever tried to support you -â Your hands come up in quotation marks. â- exhausting âŠon live television nonetheless You were barely a foot away from him now, your voice seething with rage, âFor your information, I have no interest in Oscar that way, but even if I did, Itâs not your business anymore because we are done.âÂ
âWhoreâ Lando hissed.Â
âIâll ask you once not to speak to her in that way, Norris.â Oscar stood behind Lando, the look on his face showed that heâd heard what you said about him.Â
âOr what, Oscar? Youâre behind me in the championship,â Lando seethed, âand now youâre fucking my leftovers. Guess youâll always be in my shadow, huh?â
Oscars fist cracked across the side of Landoâs face and he doubled over in pain, âFuck!âÂ
âI asked you once not to speak to her in that way.â Oscar turned to you, âAre you done? What else do you need?âÂ
You nodded, âIâm okay, I have everything I needâ
Oscar gently took the suitcase and carried it towards the door. You bent down and lightly touched Landoâs cheek.Â
âIâm sorry.â He murmured, âI love you.âÂ
âNo,â You reply, gently âYou donât. If you loved me you wouldnât have said itâÂ
You stood up and followed Oscar out the door.Â
Airport Security
masterlist || ask me anything <3
my blurb masterlist is here !!
authors note - this video gave me a few ideas to write with but this is the one i decided to write so i hope that you all enjoy. đ
word count - 1.2k
in which, harry and his daughter madison have a tradition of going on a little father-daughter holiday, they first did it when she was six months old, just before her first birthday and now there doing it just before her second birthday, but today, letâs just say little miss is in a very cranky mood.
As Harry's Range Rover glided along the quiet road towards the airport, he stole a glance at his sleeping daughter, Madison, nestled cosily in her car seat.
Her hair, tied up in two adorable ponytails by his wife just before they left the house at the crack of dawn, bobbed gently with the rhythm of the car. Madison's dummy was nestled in her mouth, her little hand clutching her favourite stuffed bunny.
Harry couldn't help but smile at the sight of his precious daughter, her peaceful slumber filling him with warmth and tenderness. The early morning light cast a soft glow over her delicate features, illuminating the innocence that radiated from her angelic face.
When Madison was six months old, harry took her on a little overnight trip so that the wife could have a bit of a break and then he took her to the Lake District just before her first birthday and now, with her second birthday vastly approaching, he had decided that they were going to spend the weekend in his Italian villa.
Father-Daughter holidays had quickly become a tradition in the Styles household.
As they neared the airport, Harry drove with extra care, mindful not to disturb Madison's rest. He reached back occasionally to tuck the blanket more snugly around her, ensuring she remained comfortable throughout the journey.
As the Range Rover rolled to a stop at the airport, Harry turned off the engine and stepped out of the car, his heart brimming with anticipation for their adventure ahead. With gentle steps, he made his way to the boot of the car, where Madison's stroller awaited.
Carefully lifting the stroller from the trunk, Harry marveled at how quickly Madison had grown, from a tiny infant to a lively toddler. He couldn't wait to explore Italy with her by his side, every moment an opportunity to create cherished memories together.
As Harry opened Madison's car door, he leaned in gently to lift her from the car seat, expecting her to wake up with a sleepy yawn. However, as he cradled her in his arms, he was met with a different response than he anticipated.
Madison grumbled sleepily, "Daddy, noooo... tired."
Harry chuckled softly, "I know, mâpickle, but we're here. Sâa quick stop at the airport, then we'll be on our way."
But Madison wasn't having it. Her tiny fists balled up, and she kicked her legs in protest, "No, no, no! Sleepy!"
As Harry tried to settle Madison into the stroller, she resisted fiercely, her tiredness manifesting in stubborn kicks and squirms. Despite his gentle efforts, she continued to protest, her tiny form wriggling in his grasp.
"Come on, Maddy-moo, just a moment longer," Harry urged softly, his voice laced with patience and understanding.
But Madison was having none of it. Tears welled up in her eyes as she cried out, "No! Want Daddy!"
With a determined but gentle touch, Harry managed to secure Madison into the stroller, though her protests continued. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked up at him with pleading eyes, her bottom lip quivering with emotion.
"I know, pickle," Harry murmured, his heart aching at her distress. "Mâright here with you.â
As Harry secured Madison in the stroller, her tired cries still echoing in the early morning air, he quickly retrieved the baby bag from the trunk of the car. With practiced efficiency, he slung it over his shoulder, ensuring he had everything they needed for their journey ahead.
Next, he grabbed the bags filled with their clothes, one for himself and one for Madison. Despite her tears and protests, Harry remained steadfast, determined to make their trip as smooth as possible.
As he locked up the car and began pushing the stroller towards the airport entrance, Madison's cries persisted, tugging at Harry's heartstrings with each step. He longed to soothe her, to ease her discomfort and frustration, but he knew that sometimes, all he could do was be there for her, offering comfort and reassurance.
As they approached the check-in counter, Harry heaved a sigh of relief as the process went smoothly, the airport staff efficiently tagging and loading their bags onto the conveyor belt.
Madison's cries had subsided slightly, replaced by quiet sniffles as she clung to her stuffed bunny for comfort.
With their bags checked in, Harry took Madison's hand and guided her towards the security checkpoint, a sense of apprehension gnawing at his stomach. Airport security was always a daunting prospect, especially with a tired and cranky toddler in tow.
As they joined the queue, Harry mentally prepared himself for the inevitable challenges ahead. He knew that keeping Madison calm and cooperative would be no easy feat, especially with the long lines and strict security measures.
As they reached the front of the security line, the security officer motioned for Harry to take Madison out of the stroller. Harry's shoulders slumped slightly as he anticipated Madison's reaction. He nodded in acknowledgment to the officer, trying to hide his apprehension.
"Sir, I'll need you to remove your daughter from the stroller for a moment," the security officer said kindly, gesturing towards Madison.
Harry forced a smile, his heart racing with anxiety. "Of course, no problem."
"Hey, Maddy-moo," Harry cooed, crouching down to unclasp the straps holding her in the stroller. "We just need to go through security real quick, then we can get moving again."
But Madison wasn't having it. As soon as Harry began to lift her out, she protested loudly, pushing his hands away and crying out in frustration.
"Hey, sâokay, pickle," Harry reassured her, trying to remain calm despite the rising tension. "We just need to do this real quick, then we'll be on our way."
But Madison's cries only grew louder, her tiny fists clenched as she threw her head back in distress. Harry could feel the weight of people's stares, their curious glances making him feel even more uncomfortable and self-conscious.
"Everything alright over here?" another security officer asked, approaching them with concern.
Harry nodded, trying to keep his voice steady. "Yeah, she's just a bit tired, that's all. sorry.â
As Harry placed Madison on the ground for a moment to fold down the stroller, he felt a knot of unease tighten in his stomach. He knew Madison was tired, but her behavior seemed beyond mere exhaustion.
As he straightened up, he noticed with a sinking heart that she had darted back through the security lines, her tiny figure disappearing into the crowd.
"Madison! No, sweetheart, come back!" Harry called out desperately, his voice tinged with panic. He quickly folded the stroller and abandoned it, pushing past startled travelers as he raced after his daughter.
"Sorry, sorry," Harry muttered apologetically as he pushed his way through the crowded terminal, his heart pounding in his chest. He finally caught sight of Madison, several yards ahead, running as fast as her little legs could carry her.
"Madison, stop!" Harry commanded sternly, his voice tinged with frustration as he closed the distance between them. "Yâshouldn't have run off like that. Sânot safe!"
But Madison paid no heed to his words. She kicked and squirmed in his arms, her cries piercing the air as she pushed at his face in defiance.
"Madison, enough!" Harry's voice was firm now, his patience wearing thin. He grabbed her hands to stop her flailing, his grip firm but gentle.
âIf yâdonf behave yourself then weâre going back home,â he parented, stopping her hands from hitting his face once again. âDo yâunderstand, daddy?â
Heatwave
CO-WRITTEN WITHÂ @THIRSTWORLDPROBLEMSS
Summary: Santiago and you try to occupy yourselves during another heatwave in Florida.
Rating: Explicit, edging, bratty-ass behavior from one Santiago.
Pairing: Santiago x female reader (you)
Word Count: 4,000
Homecoming Universe | Astrobootâs Masterlist | Thirstworldproblemss' masterlist
At what point does a spiking high temperature no longer count as a heatwave and just becomes the new average temperature for the local area. Is it after the third or sixth heatwave in a month? And for that matter, how many record breaking high temperatures can one summer have in store for a state that is already known for its hot climate?
Fuck! Why did he move back here again?
Santiago is melting. Lying slumped against the cool flooring of the bedroom where the breeze reaches. He's stripped off his clothes, wearing nothing but his boxers and staying far away from any walls because they are fucking radiating heat. At one point he's pretty sure he saw the edges of the walls wobble from the inferno temperature raging outside... either that or his vision is blurring out on him.
It must be what? 150 degrees, 200?? He doesn't care what the weatherman is reporting, there's no fucking way it's only 110 out there.
Leaning his head back down on the cold wooden flooring for reprieve, he can't remember the last time Florida got so hot. (If it has, he hasn't been here to see it).
Shit, it must be even hotter than that time you drove him down to the airport, what was it now, ten or twelve years ago? It got so fucking hot that the radio was warning about staying away from the highway because the tarmac was at risk of melting.
No one in their right mind would've gone out on the road that day. Except you of course. In your shitty little Volvo, with a broken A/C and a clutch that creaked with every change of gear. It's lucky the old piece of junk made it to the airport at all, and nothing short of a miracle that you made it there in time.
He can still see it in his mind's eye. The way your hair was matted with sweat as you pulled up to the drop off point. Still remembers how his old t-shirt was glued to every inch of his sweaty back as he peeled himself off the passenger seat. How, even as disgusting as the two of you felt, drenched in sweat and smelling like two dumpster diving raccoons, having been trapped on the highway for over an hour in that heat, you had held onto his torso as if you were never going to let him go. Your pinkie wrapped around his, so tightly, he was sure the blood circulation was entirely cut off as you told him in no uncertain terms: "You better fucking come back home in one piece, Santiago."
A smile breaks out across his face at the memory. From a distance he can hear the familiar sound of your footfall from the hallway, followed by your voice echoing all the way upstairs as you call out for him.
"Santiagoooo!"
If it wasn't for the heat, he'd call back in response to you. But all the strength is zapped out of him. Plus, he suspects that the reason you're calling for him is to rope him into helping Frankie with the latest crazy home project the man's set on finishing this weekend (and in this heat Santiago's not going anywhere near that).
"Honey." The endearing nickname has him smiling even wider. His mouth parts, just about to respond to you when he hears the rest of your sentence.
"Frankie needs help sanding down the fence."
Bingo.
No way in hell he's responding now.
He can hear you opening and closing doors all over the house in search of him. You'll find him eventually, but it doesn't mean he's not going to take his time enjoying the last few moments of being in the safe shelter out of the sun.
There's a soft click as the door to the bedroom opens. From his limited view on the floor, he sees glimpses of your feet from the corner of his eyes as you march in front of him until you're standing above, looming over his form.
"Santiago. I was looking for you everywhere."
He lets the hand resting on his thigh slide down to the front of his boxers without thought and that catches your immediate attention.
There's a sharp and sudden inhale from you, as if the air is spiked. You look like you've forgotten how to breathe properly.
You liked that huh? The corner of his lips curl into a smile as he holds eye contact with you.
"Sorry, must've dozed off."
"Har, har. Stop lounging around half naked and acting like a thirst trap. Frankie needs help with the fence."
"It's 200 fucking degrees. I'm not going to do that. Frankie can finish his home improvement project when Armageddon isn't happening outside."
You shoot him a small frown. Arms crossing in front of your chest.
He pats the space on the floor right next to himself, as he continues. âCome lay down with me for a second to cool down. You look like you might be overheating. Donât wanna get heatstroke or anything. Frankie can wait a few minutes.â
You don't move from the spot, making no move to join him. "Poor Frankie is doing all the work."
Santiago's itching to retort that there's nothing "poor" about Frankie's situation. Man is having the time of his life out there. He loves doing these projects.
But Santiago keeps his mouth shut. Because he knows if he doesn't, he'll inevitable set you two up for a back and forth of who's right and wrong, who wins and who's losing the argument, trying to one-up each other the rest of the afternoon. And it's not that Santiago doesn't absolutely love doing that with you but...
Peering up at you, the way your lips are swollen with heat and parted as you look at him, Santiago has a much better idea of how he wants to spend the rest of the afternoon with you.
"Just a little bit, sweetheart," he says, doing his best to sweet talk you as he pats his free hand over the same spot on the floor in invitation. "Come sit with me for one minute, and I promise I'll go help Frankie okay?"
Glancing over your shoulder, you throw a quick glance over the window, probably to check in on Frankie.
"Just a minute, okay?"
"Mhmm. Just one."
It doesn't take more persuasion from him than that. Next thing he knows, you're walking over to him. Soft steps and an even softer gaze in your eyes. Then you sink down on the floor and sit down on the spot right where he patted.
That was... surprisingly easy.
He'd expected more resistance from you. Was fully prepared to do a filibuster marathon to try to convince you to join him. Hadn't quite expected you to just... give into him the way you just did. He blinks up in surprise, at your face mere inches away from him. He's not fully sure what just happened. You've never turned down an opportunity to put up a fight with him before.
You stare down at his chest and bare stomach, lingering there. You swallow down reflexively as you take him in with heated eyes.
Huh...
Santiago knows the effect he has on women. He just never knew he had that effect on you.
As arrogant as it sounds, he knows he's a good looking man. Knows that he's charming to boot. But the relationship between the two of you, for all the love that you had held for each other, had always remained platonic back in the day. You don't look at him the way other women do. And Santiago doesn't flirt with you the way he does with other women. Those were the unspoken rules you two had set for each other from the start and it's all you two have ever known.
And while things have changed now. While Santiago's seen the heated looks you give him when he's in bed with you, your relationship has remained largely unchanged outside of it.
You still pull him up on his bullshit when he's earned it. Never hesitate to square up with him in a competition for anything.
This... This is new.
He taps his bare thigh, almost experimentally to test his theory. He doesn't miss the way your pupils dilate with interest, and as always he can't resist the urge to goad you.
Not when you're eyeing him so appreciatively, in a way that you've never done in the past in all your years of friendships until recently. He figures he's earned the right after all this time to be a little bit obnoxious and revel and preen in the attention from you.
"Cariño," he calls out, until your eyes pulls back up to his face. "Eyes up here," he teases.
You roll your eyes, smacking him in the chest. It's supposedly a playful gesture, but you do it with enough strength that it knocks the breath out of him.
"I know," you retort, but your eyes drift back to his chest and then continue downwards and the attention has heat spearing through his limbs.
"You're still looking," he teases, and his hand snakes down over the plane of his thighs, reveling in your attentive gaze. "Didn't know you were such a perv."
By now you'd usually retaliate or cuss him out, but you don't.
Instead, you continue to stare, eyes blown wide as if you've been cast under a spell, mesmerized.
He palms himself through the front of his boxers, and he can feel the rush of blood rushing down and away from his head as his cock stirs to hardness. If Santiago was considered full of himself before this, it's nothing compared to how he feels in this moment with the way you're looking at him. Your expression blank, like the sight of him has made you lose your ability to speak. Mouth parted, the glistening pink of your tongue peeking out, as if you would devour him if he'd let you.
"Should I give you a show then?" he asks.
After all, if you want to look, he's more than happy to give you something proper to look at.
You nod with an eagerness that has your head bouncing up and down like the bopping bobble head toy Frankie keeps on the dashboard. Santiago lets out a laugh that's more breathless than he had expected from himself. He blames it on the heat.
Dragging down the edge of his boxers, he keeps his eyes on yours as his fingers wrap around the base of himself and his cock jumps in response to the touch.
Shit, that's good. A sweet spike of pleasure runs through him at the languid touch, and he feels breathless with it. His cock is slick with precome that drips down the length with each slide of his hand.
Running his hand up the rigid length, the calloused skin graze against the sensitive skin. Pleasure ooze and drips inside his chest and down his limbs, until his legs tremble with it. Santiago's touched himself countless times before but it's never felt like this before.
Maybe it's the heat that's getting to him. Or maybe it's the way you're inching closer with each passing second until you're practically straddling him on his lap. You and your soft and perfect thighs pressing down on his own, keeping him pinned onto the floor as he tries to keep going. The heat he can feel from between your legs, through the thin layer of cotton that's pressed onto his bare skin. Yeah... maybe it's that.
Santiago goes slow and languid as he touches himself for your benefit. And as ridiculous as it sounds it is for you. Because if it wasn't for you, there's no chance in hell he'd be going this slowly. He'd be fast and almost sloppy, squeezing down on his cock until the desperate need that's riding his spine lets go with his climax. If you weren't here, gorgeous eyes all focused on him, with a look that he wouldn't even let himself dream of in the past, he wouldn't want to prolong it the way he is.
Even now, with the strained effort of taking it as slow as he can possibly stand, he's not entirely sure how long he'll last. He feels like he's on a precarious edge, his climax taunting him, swelling up and simmering with a slow burn in his stomach.
Your torso tilts forward, squirming in his lap, with the tiniest movement every time his hand moves upwards, in time with his strokes.
You're practically riding his thigh, and Jesus fucking christ, that isn't helping Santiago's situation right now. At this point you're both going to come dry humping each other like horny clueless Mormons on their wedding night.
"Sweetheart, wait--" he tries, but you press yourself down on his thigh all the same, and he can feel your sweet slick drip down on his thigh and coat him with it. All he's capable of is a deep and shameless moan.
His cock twitches in his hand, and for several alarming seconds, Santiago thinks that's it. That it's already too late and he's going to come right then and there, spilling himself all over his hand and stomach.
Santiago squeezes down hard around the base of his cock to stave off the needy sensation.
"Shit," he hisses. "Fuck. fuck. Sweetheart, gonna need you to--" he doesn't finish his sentence. Can't spare the seconds it would take to properly think. One hand is already reaching out under your dress (thank god you're wearing a dress) wedging your panties to the side, his other pulling you closer by your waist until your pussy is lined up with the swollen head of his cock.
He doesn't even have time to move his hand in place to grip at his cock before you push down on him. Heat streaks through his insides until his lungs feels like they're burning. Your perfect pussy envelops all of him, every single throbbing aching inch with slick warmth and perfect pressure until his vision whites out.
Fuck, why is he so fucking sensitive.
He can't... fuck, he can't hold on. A desperate groan tears out of his throat and he buries his face into your neck to hide from the sensation that has him surrounded.
He thrusts upwards, canting his hips until you're taking all of him.
Pleasure singes his entire spine, and it burns him alive with it. The heat is unbearable, sweat is plastered to his back, but it doesn't matter. Santiago's skin is damp and sticky, but he's still pressing you closer. Wants every inch of you, warm and gorgeous and so fucking soft, pressed against him in every way he can have you, and he's still not sure if that'd be enough.
Wants to make up for every year, hour, minute and second that he'd wasted of his life, being away from you. Wants all of that even if it kills him.
Planting his feet on the wooden floor for leverage, he grabs your hips to force you down as far as you can take him. Until your head throws back with a high-pitched whine, palms pushing down on his chest as if it's too much for you to handle, and he lets go, sinking down his hips back towards the floor, until only the tip of him rests inside you.
He gives you a handful of seconds to catch your breath. Then he grabs your waist and push you down on his cock. Again, and again. To the gorgeous sounds of your keen moans and whines all blended into one, as you're sobbing out his name.
Forceful, deep thrusts that has tears pushing in the corner of your eyes. He keeps going as the sweet aching heat has him drunk and euphoric on you, with each and every rise and cant of his hips.
He's not going to last. Shit, shit, he's not going to last like this.
But that's okay. Because judging from the way you're grinding against him. Needy and desperate. Your cunt squeezing so tight around his cock it makes it hard to breathe, you're not going to last either.
His hand strays down below your stomach, sliding between your legs until his thumb catches at your clit, slippery and wet, and absolutely dripping for him. You sob at the contact, wracked in shivers as he continues to rub smooth little circles over it, and he can feel just how close you are.
You're perfect. Eyes squeezed shut, head tilted back in surrender, a high-pitched whine escaping your throat and oh fuck Santiago was not prepared for this.
His brain stalls out, hand stopping as his movements comes to a still to take in the sight before him because...You are so fucking beautiful like this.
"Santiago, what the fuck, make meâ" you're slapping his shoulder, voice high pitched and desperate that makes his spine tingle as you grind on him. "Fuck make me cum, don't be an ass."
Fuck what is he doing?
Santiago's not sure. Not sure why he's stopped, even as every nerve and muscle in him is screaming for him to chase after the pleasure until both of you are coming.
Not sure why he's just sitting there dumbfounded. Except, this is everything he's wanted for so long that he's denied himself and he realizes that right nowâ it's here, landed in his very lap. You're the woman he's loved for so long, no matter how much he's denied it to himself, and he just wants to make this moment last.
All he knows is that he doesn't want this to end.
"Wait, sweetheart," he murmurs, even as you squirm from his grip pinning you in place. "Just give me a second. Want to remember this," and he means it with more sincerity than he ever thought he had left in him as he stares up at you in complete awe.
He wants it to last.
Not just out of a ill-placed sense of pride. Not just because he knows you're going to give him shit for coming too fast.
He just wants this to last. Wants you in his arms like this. Wants you to look at him, just like this, like you need him to survive, more than your next breath. This. This. This. He wants it to last forever.
You don't listen to him though. Of course you don't, because you never make it that easy for him. Your hips roll against him, grinding with desperation until his cock nudges something devastatingly perfect that has him convinced his brain is melting.
Shit, he has to stop. Oh fuck oh fuck, he's too closeâ
"Stop stop," he warns, hand gripping down on your hips to stop you "Boa, Stopâ fuck you're gonna make meâ"
But it's too late. It's already happening. He can feel his cock pulse and throb as he spills himself inside of you, shuddering through his orgasmâ and fuck this was not how it was supposed to go down.
Everything slows. It's everywhere, rushing through him with a chaotic frenzy as it wrings him dry. The euphoric sensation overcrowding everything else, and his head feels like he is going to split with it. He can't think. Can't breathe.
But even in his post-cum haze he knows you still haven't come and he can't have that.
Santiago grits through it. Biting down and clenching on his jaw to ride through the over-brimming sensation that threatens to burst out of his skin as he continues to thrust into you.
Oversensitive and overstimulated. Every slick slide of your perfect pussy has him gasping for air. It's too much. Like live wires are running through his skin and every cant of your hips against him sets every receptor in his brain on overdrive. His cock is so sensitive, he can feel every fraction of you wrapped around him.
And it's perfect and it's good. And it's just so fucking much.
You're burning hot. He feels feverish and on the brink of delirium from the heat. Like he's inside a live furnace, but he doesn't want to stop. Can't stop. Not until he's seen your eyes roll into the back of your head. Not until you've come apart for him.
Locking his arm over the small of your back, he flips you over, onto your back. Pushing his free hand between your bodies until his thumb is rubbing rough little circles on your clit again.
He keeps going, pushing inside even as every nerve at him is screaming for respite. Santiago doesn't stop though. You're so close, and he just has to hold on even as each flutter and squeeze of your cunt is pushing him over the edge of too much.
Doesn't stop even as your gorgeous eyelashes flutter dramatically, your eyes rolling back as you kick your leg out and finally, finally comes on his cock.
The sensation of your climax punches the last breath out of him. He can hear himself whine pathetically into your neck.
The overwhelming tightness of you, your pussy squeezing and clenching down over and over, as if you're trying to wring and empty him out of anything he has left him. It brings him to his knees and collapses into you.
Everything feels sticky and clammy. Both of you drenched, as he's pinning you down with his weight. He feels weightless and heavy all at the same time. It doesn't make sense and shouldn't even be possible. But it certainly didn't help him in his efforts to move
To the protest of his exhausted limbs, Santiago rolls over to lay on his back next to you there on the floor. Both of you sweaty and panting.
God this might have been a bad idea.
It was too fucking hot even before all the physical exertion, now it's like an inferno. He's seconds from passing out. But at least the floor is marginally cooler against his back than the surrounding air, while you're laying there catching their breath.
Every inch of him thrums with pleasure, and his body practically tingles with the afterglow of his climax. But he can't help the scowl on his face. He's mentally cringing.
He came too fast.
Shot his load like some overeager virgin.
And there's no fucking way you wouldn't have noticed that he came before you. It's only a matter of you catching your breath, before you start giving him shit about it.
He lies there, staring up at the ceiling, preemptively trying to come up with some kind of defense or comeback but nothing comes to him. The only thing that fills his head is the image of your eyes from seconds ago, gazing down on him, looking at him the way that deep down, through all those years of platonic friendship, for all the way he's tried to repressed it, he's always wanted you to look at him.
It's so fucking stupid, but his stomach flutters pleasantly at the memory.
"Hey, Santiago...?"
He closes his eyes and runs a hand over his face trying desperately to pull himself together. Because even though he knows it's coming. Right now he feels too naked and raw, without protection to brace himself at whatever joke you're sure to make next at his expense.
Feels a little bit too exposed after that perfect moment of having everything he never let himself acknowledge that he wanted right there in his arms.
He swallows, bracing himself for the witty remark, as he responds to you with a weak, "Yeah?"
You don't say anything.
Instead, he feels just the barest touch against his hand, and he looks down. Your fingers slides against the heel of his hand, searching for his hand before you find his pinkie and curl around it. He drags his eyes back towards your face and you have the softest smile on your sweaty, gorgeous face.
"I'm glad you're here," you say, there's no sarcasm there. Your voice is soft and quiet, and so sincere.
He doesn't know what is happening to him but his chest constricts and is drawn so tight it's painful. And suddenly he's blinking back tears. Call him dramatic, but for a brief moment Santiago swears the chest pains are a sign of cardiac arrest, until you grip his pinkie tighter and the pain eases.
"Yeah...." Santiago nods. Has to clear his throat before he can get the rest of the words out from the lump that is lodged in his throat. "Yeah, me too. Sweetheart. Me too."
Sweat sticks to his back, and the heat is unbearable. But he doesn't want to move. Doesn't ever want to leave this spot with you lying next to him.
He'll never admit it out loud. But he knows why even though he hates Florida with every inch of his soul, he'll always find his way back here. Why no matter how far away he goes, a part of him will always be left behind here. A long long time ago in the drop off zone of Miami International, on a disgusting hot and sweaty day just like today, he made a promise. He promised that he'll always came back home to you.
in honor of the holidays here's some foxes and co going home for the holidays (set sometime in the future)
Somewhere in Wisconsin:
Matt Boyd just won his last game before their winter break.
Dan and Matt make their rounds to say goodbye to everyone as they disperse for the break.
They head out and grab a taxi, making a quick stop by their house to grab their luggage.
Theyâre headed home for the holidays.
Back to where their families were collecting for the holidays.
Back to South Carolina.
They were unbelievably excited to see everyone.
They had a secret that they were finally telling the foxes when they got them all together.
Dan cradled her growing belly
Somewhere in Colorado:
Renee compiled a list of care advice for her neighbor who is petsitting for her while sheâs in South Carolina.
Itâs a hefty list and Renee is once again grateful for her kind, elderly neighbor who had volunteered herself immediately after hearing Renee was going to be traveling.
She made her rounds saying goodbye to all her pets before grabbing her suitcase and keys and heading to the door.
She sent a text to Allison to let her know she was about to hit the road.
Text sent she said one last goodbye at the door before locking up behind her.
South Carolina, here we come.
Somewhere in New York:
Allison carefully packed her clothes into her bag.
Had she possibly packed too much for her two-week trip? Probably, but she hasnât seen anyone in a while, and she likes to look good.
Allison checked her phone for the time before grabbing her suitcases and putting them by the door.
She did one last walk-through to make sure she didnât forget anything before turning all her lights off and grabbing her luggage.
She closed the door and locked it before making her way out of her apartment.Â
She sent a text to Renee to let her know she was leaving and got in her car.
Somewhere in Germany:
âNicky, Liebling, if you donât get your ass down here weâre going to miss our flight!âÂ
Nicky swears as he collects his bags in a hurry, his feet pounding down the stairs of his and Erikâs apartment.
Germany had done Nicky a lot of good but he was undeniably excited to head back to the States.
Back to his family.
âIâm ready! I swear!âÂ
Erik laughed and herded him out the door.
They made it through the security check with 15 minutes to get to their boarding area.
They laughed as they ran through the airport, their luggage flipping and bumping into the back of their legs.
They were the last people on the plane, but they made it.
Nicky was going home.
Somewhere in California:
Kevin lugs both suitcases into the trunk of his car before he helps Amalia into the back seat and gets her buckled into her car seat.
They were driving all the way to South Carolina because Amalia had recently become deathly afraid of planes.
Settling in for the two-day drive, they'd barely made it 30 minutes into the trip before Amalia determined it had been a long time and it was time for snacks.
With a deep breath and a silent prayer to all things holy, Kevin pulled into a gas station to get snacks and have a bathroom break.
He knew the drive would be rough but 'Grandpa Coach' and 'Gran Abby', as Amalia had taken to calling her grandparents (maybe Kevin should have stopped calling them by name), would be more than willing to take Amalia when they got home.
Amalia spent the rest of the 36 hour drive rotating between excitably talking about seeing her aunts and uncles, singing the entire Frozen soundtrack at the top of her little 4 year old lungs, and sleeping.
Somewhere between Kansas and South Carolina:
"If you touch the stereo one more time, Josten, you're losing your hand."
Hands held over the console.
Hand kisses.
Smoke breaks.
Lots of snack breaks.
Neil gets fruit cups and Andrew gets candy.
Their cats joined them for the trip.
Sir sits in Neil's lap the entire ride but King gets the zoomies every 30 miles.
Andrew has to repeatedly remove him from his feet so he stops getting close to the pedals.
They call Bee halfway through the drive to make sure sheâll be there when they get there. She and Andrew chat while Neil takes a bathroom break.
When Neil comes back Andrewâs frame has relaxed a bit further.Â
They were both excited to see everyone but that didnât take away the anxiety of having that big of a group together again.
But the foxes were family and they couldnât wait to see their family.
Somewhere in North Carolina:
"Okay, and you packing the girls' blankets?"
Katelyn and Aaron may resemble headless chickens trying to get their 13 month old twins together and ready.
Katelyn has been tasked with the girls' things and Aaron has been tasked with actually getting the girls in the car.
One of the twins is passed out in their car seat and the other is sobbing and throwing a fit.
Aaron is trying to calm her down and Katelyn is driving.
It took about an hour to get her to stop crying and when she did Aaron took a deep breath and fell back in his seat.
He rested his head back and closed his eyes, letting the quiet sounds of the road soothe him.
That calmness lasts for a good minute before Katelyn lets out a loud, FUCK!
"I forgot our suitcase!"
Somewhere in South Carolina:
Abby fluffs the decorative pillow for the hundredth time in the past ten minutes.Â
Sheâs already vacuumed and swept every room in their house. Sheâs gotten all the spare bedrooms ready and taken out all of the blowup mattresses. Most of the kids were staying with them with the exception of those that had kids.
They hadnât all been together in so long and it felt imperative that the house looked good for everyone.
Wymack came up behind her and gently took the pillow from her hands before setting it back on the couch.
âThe place looks amazing, Abby.âÂ
Abby turned around and shot him a doubtful look.
Wymack laughed roughly and leaned forward to place a careful kiss to her forehead.Â
âTheyâre just going to be happy to be here. I donât think theyâd care if it looked like a pigsty in here. Everything is okay, and you know why?âÂ
Abby leaned her weight against Wymackâs chest. âWhy?â
Wymack pulled back slightly so he could send her a fond smile.
âOur kids are coming home."
Series Masterlist | Main Masterlist
TurbulenceâŠit can mean anything from a few little bumps to a catastrophic weather system that could knock your flying tin can right out of the air. In Surgery they call it a complication, the surgeons hit a snag, a bump in the road. Turbulence.Â
In your marriage, you called it Separation. One of the most unpredictable things about encountering turbulence is its aftermath. Everythingâs been shaken up, undone, turned on its head. So you ask yourself time and time again, if you had the choice to avoid the plane crash, the turbulence altogether, would you take it? Would you play it safe and cancel the flight? Or would you get onboard and take your chances.Â
âDad!â Little Lucy Seresin was just the spitting image of you and your grandmother. She was every bit you except for those big emerald green eyes. âDadâ!â You could see Jake making his way towards you and your three children through the crowd, all standing around your legs waiting for their father. The one who gave all three of your children those piercing emerald eyes that held what seemed like all the secrets in the universe. âMum! Dads here! Dads here!âÂ
âI see him sweetheart, thereâs daddy.â You replied to your six year old, who, before you even had a chance to stop the only daughter of Jake Seresin, took off running across the crowded airport welcoming area towards her dad. You knew it had been far too long since Jake had been able to see his children, but you also knew it wasn't entirely his fault. The Navy was unpredictable as it was reliable.Â
âHiya Lulu!â Jake smiled as wild as he could as he dropped to his knee to embrace the six year old human heâd helped create. âOh I missed you sweetheart.â That much was true, Jake Seresin missed his kids every day that passed him by. You watched on with six year old Lennox by your side and two year old Samuel on your hip as Jake picked his daughter up and carried her back over to where you stood patiently waiting. âLenny, how you going man?â Jake beamed as he tousled his eldest son's hair. âFar out kid, you shoot up any more and youâll be taller than your mother.â You smiled at the dig unintentionally, before you knew you were smiling Jake had seen the corners of your lips turn upright into an unmissable smile.Â
âMums says Iâm growing like an inch a day because I eat all my green beans at dinner.â Jake took a moment to place Lucy back on solid ground before he came up back up to meet your gaze. It had been a few weeks since you had called Jake about your Christmas plans. He still wasnât sure how to feel about them, deep down he wanted to tell you not to go. Deep down he was screaming at the top of his lungs for you to give him another chance, to come with him and the kids to his mothers for Christmas. But Jake knew better than to make a scene in front of the kids. But that didn't mean he couldn't be petty when he wanted to be just to get a rise out of you.Â
âIs that so?â Jake beamed that signature Seresin grin youâd fallen for back in college when he was captain of the football team and you were just that meek library dweller. He made you feel so much more than just the shy history buff youâd been back then, Jake Seresin had taught you a lot of things about yourself in the time youâd been his best friend and wife, now ex. Nowadays however you often caught yourself wondering if heâd miss you if you didnât make it through the battle you were facing. The battle you hadnât told anyone about except your mum. The battle that took all your strength to keep a secret close to your chest. The battle that was draining you or all your strength and energy. The battle that late at night you wish you could just end early.Â
Stage three A, triple positive grade three invasive doctoral carcinoma. Triple positive meaning that your specific cancer fed off oestrogen, progesterone and HER2 hormones. Lucky you right? Your first lumpectomy went rather well, but you were facing twelve weeks of chemotherapy treatment. Three oral tablets daily and two full days of IV sessions a week.Â
However, you were taking measures into your own hands as of tomorrow and were scheduled to be back in hospital for double mastectomy. You didn't want to wait and see if the cancer would spread and wanted every single bit out. But Jake was none the wiser about your medical status and assumed that you were off to Canada with friends for a white Christmas in Banff Alberta.Â
âWellââ Jake carefully took little two year old Sammy from your grasp and placed his tied sleeping self on his own jean clad hip. âMums are always right.â Jake quickly followed up as he looked down at Lenny. âThereâs gonna be a ton of green beans at Grandma's house so you might overtake her quicker than anticipated buddy.â Jake gave the youngest of the three Seresin siblings a kiss on the cheek before he fully turned his attention to you. âHey Honââ The way Jake stopped himself from finishing his sentence made your heart sink into the pit in your stomach. âY/n, hey Y/n.â He corrected himself quickly as he picked up his duffel bag from the ground next to where he stood before you. âYou look well.âÂ
Oh if only Jake truly knew what you had to do in order to look well. The countless hours you spent throwing your guts up in the middle of the night. The sleepless nights that turned into days. The loss of appetite that had you dropping weight faster than you could blink. Your diagnosis had been quick but your symptoms had been even quicker to take over your daily life. You kicked yourself every day for not getting yourself to a doctor sooner.Â
âYeah, Iâve been doing alrightââ Things used to be so easy with Jake, now he was standing here before you in the middle of the airport bustling with people going to and from for the holiday season and you swore he looked like someone you didnât even know. âThe kiddos keep me busy, donât you?â You asked Lucy as she reached out for your hand and looked at you like you were telling lies.Â
âMums been sick.â She told her father confidently, like you werenât about to die then and there on the spot from embarrassment. Little Lucy had a bad habit of throwing you and Jake under the bus with one another. âShe said itâs just a cold, but sheâs been sick for like four whole weeks.â Lucy didnât know any better than what you had always told her, that you had the flu. A long flu at that. As soon as youâd get the kids off to school youâd head right back to bed and sleep. The medication your doctors had you on was pretty brutal, and chemotherapy didnât help although youâd only just started that kind of oral treatment. It packed a punch you couldn't handle.
âOh?â Jake frowned as the five of you all made your way through the airport and out towards the car park. âMum didnât tell me she was sick, if I had known I would have come sooner.â Jake looked at you like he was trying to read the lines on your face. He could tell you were tied, more than normalâbut despite that knowledge heâd never say it out loud. His grandmother would roll over in her damn grave if Jake ever dared to point out a womanâs under eye bags or her tired expression. So he went with âwellâ.Â
âThatâs why I didnât tell you.â You didnât mean for it to sound so harsh, but you knew by the hurt look on Jakeâs face that it had struck an exposed nerve. He never wanted to separate. âWhat I meant was, Iâm fine, Lulu here sees a runny nose and thinks itâs the end of days, I would have called you if I needed help.âÂ
âFair, I meanâyou canât be that sick right? With your big trip to Banff planned and all.â Jake shrugged it off like his heart wasnât breaking inside his chest. This was about to be his first Christmas separated from the women he loved more than life itself. Being in North Island made it easier to run from his problems, but the minute he got on that flight he was back inside his own head, rewinding and rethinking everything he ever did wrong to drive you away.Â
âRightââ You agreed softly beside the man you loved so deeply that it burned. âYeah, Iâm just so thankful you were so happy to take the kids with you to your mothers house this year.â To be perfectly honest you were expecting Jake to push back, ask more questions, be a little standoffish on the idea of you not being there for the kids on Christmas. But he never did, and you didnât know what hurt more.Â
âTheyâre my kids as much as theyâre yoursâkinda think itâs the least I can do considering youâve had them all year round.â It was the tone you didnât appreciate, the almost passive aggressive attitude that made you frown as you walked with Jake and your kids back to your car.Â
âYou can see the kids anytime you like.â You tried to keep your head level, but the way Jake had said it made you question his motives. âIâd never stop you, if you wanna have them more often Iâm sure we canââÂ
âWasnât that a big part of the reason you wanted to separate?â Jake interrupted before you had a chance to finish what you were saying. You were about to say perhaps you could come up with a custody agreement. Something on paper that seemed fair to the both of you that took your work schedules into consideration as well as your living conditions, the kids schooling, holidays and extended family. You were happy to discuss it more, but this year that had passed the both of you by had gone in the blink of an eye. âYou were stuck with the kids too much? Seems a little counter intuitive considering youâve become their primary caregiver.âÂ
âJakeââ You sighed with a longing heâd missed. âNot in front of the kids, alright?â You were trying your best, truly. But here he was in all his glory, the love of your life and father of your children, telling you that you made a mistake just in a different kind of font. âWe can talk about it all when we get home.âÂ
âIâm not doing anything in front of the kidsââ Jake shrugged as he watched you unlock the car. âIâm just trying to understand why you canât just admit why you really left.â Jake knew why you left, because of him. He knew he hadnât done enough in your marriage to show you how much he loved you. He just wanted to hear you say it. That you didnât love him anymore. He wanted you to tell him point blank that you had fallen out of love with him.
But you could never say that, because you never stopped loving him.Â
âYou know whyââ You had to bite the inside of your cheek and grit your teeth to stop yourself from yelling, Jake Seresin after all these years still managed to get under your skin with ease. âAgain, not in front of the kids, letâs just get home.âÂ
âYou seem frustrated.â Jake teased with that award winning grin, he knew exactly what he was doing. You always took the bait.Â
âYeah, youâve been here for five minutes and Iâm already over it.â If you had rolled your eyes any harder than you did you would have fallen over.Â
âLittle harshââ Jake chuckled as he placed Sammy into his booster seat, the little buckles that used to give him a hard time when the twins were younger were seamlessly clipped up in seconds. Jake made sure his youngest was safe and secure before he stood and turned his full undivided attention back to you. âIâve missed you.â He said genuinely with a love so strong inside his heart you could nearly feel the warmth as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders and drew you in for a hug. âItâs good to see you, even if itâs just for one night before you go jet setting.âÂ
With little hesitation you melted into the man you had married all those years ago with ease. Jake was your home, your guiding light. This past year had been rough without him and you knew deep down it had been rough for him too.Â
But sometimes love just wasnât enough to save a marriage.Â
âYeahâyeah itâs good to see you.â Jake felt your arms wrap around his torso as you let your cheek rest on his shoulder. âIâve missed you too.â Jakeâs scent had alway brought comfort to you, the overwhelming warmth of cedarwood and notes of vanilla bourbon always calmed you, grounded you in reality. âIâm uhââ You wanted to tell him the truth about what was going on, but you just couldnât do that to him. You couldnât ask that much of him. Not after everything youâd both been through over the last year. âIâm just happy youâre here for the kids.âÂ
âMum! Lennox wonât let me have the window seat!âÂ
âIâm older than you!â Lennox argued back as Jake groaned into your neck. Oh how heâd missed you, missed the kids, missed his family. North Island was great but without the four of you? Something was always missing. A piece of Jake was always missing.Â
âIâm not just here for the kids.â Jake pulled away at the sound of Lenny and Lucy arguing in the back seat over who was taking the middle seat. âBut theyâre a bonus, Honey.â He winked as he switched into dad mode and dropped his voice an octave or two. âStop arguing, Iâll flip a coin.âÂ
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
âOh woahââ Jake's eyes lit up as he walked through the front door of the home youâd recently finished moving into. Heâd only ever seen it over FaceTime. âItâs bigger than it looked.â The little giggle you let out as you passed him by didnât go unnoticed. Dirty bird, Jake thought to himself as his eyes lingered down to your ass as you walked ahead of him.Â
âItâs enough for me and the kids with a spare room.â You replied as Jake continued to look around. Reminisce of cardboard boxes used in your move still remained scattered around the place. âThe kids still wanted to put up the Christmas tree even though they arenât gonna be here.âÂ
âMama said Santa will know that weâre spending it with Grandma and Grandpa and will take all our presents there.â Lucy caught Jake's attention as she barreled into the living room where the Christmas tree stood tall and proud, decorated with mismatched decorations that you and Jake had collected over the years either from stores or the kids' school crafts. âShe also said I could give this to you when you came to stay the night.â Lucy explained as she dropped to her knees and reached under the tree to where a perfectly wrapped gift labelled with Jake's name on it sat. âItâs from mum.âÂ
âLucy Mayââ You nearly hissed as you padded into the living room. âDonât tell lieâs please.â You pointed, the deal had been youâd get Jake one present and one present only knowing he probably wouldnât have gotten you anything, and that youâd tell him it was from the kids until he opened it. âYou tell your dad who itâs from.â Jake knew by the smirk that crept across his daughterâs face he recognised as his own, that it was from you. Lucy didnât have to say another word. But she did regardless.Â
âItâs from me and Lenny.â She replied as Jake sat on the couch he used to sleep on during those nights the two of you couldnât sleep in the same bed. Those nights where the two of you needed space and those nights where he thought he was doing the right thing by you and giving it to you. He sat on the couch that felt unfamiliar now and took the present his daughter gave him with grace. âLenny! Dadâs opening our present!âÂ
âWhat present?â Lennox frowned as he walked into the living room trying to carry two year old Sam. âOh! Mums present.âÂ
âLennox!â You groaned aloud in utter defeat.Â
All Jake could do was laugh to himself as he looked over at you. You were as beautiful as ever, his one and only love. How the fuck did things get so messy where you had to use your children as scapegoats.Â
âItâs fine, itâs fineâI know itâs from the kids Honey.â Jake winked as you rolled your eyes and headed on into the kitchen where you were getting organised to cook dinner. You were starting to feel awfully tiredâthe oral chemotherapy was starting to make you feel sicker than you had been before you knew what was going on. A double edged sword really, you keep taking the pills? You get so sick you die. You stop taking the chemotherapy tablets? You get so sick you die. Either way you were dying or you convinced yourself you were.Â
But Jake could never know that, your kids could never know that, so you went about your routine as normally as you could without making a fuss.Â
âI might save this for when we get to Grandmas, I wouldn't wanna not have anything to open on Christmas morning Lulu.â Jake smiled as he brought her in for a hug between his legs. âI love you all so much.âÂ
âWe love you too dad.â Lucy replied as she hugged Jake back. âMum loves you too.âÂ
âOh does she now?â Jake knew that putting all his faith in a six year old probably wasn't the best thing he could do, but right now as he held her in his arms, the little girl the two of you had createdâhe did. He trusted her to tell the truth you wouldn't, because you wouldn't lie and tell him you didn't love him either. âGuess I'll just have to take your word for it then, won't I?âÂ
***~***~***~***~***~***~***~***
Jake Seresin had always been a good dad, you had never questioned him on his ability to go above and beyond for his children. That was something you never had to worry about. As you plated up dinner, the laughter of your three children coming from the living room made you smile to yourself. They were loved so fiercely.Â
âAlright, let's get ready for dinner, yeah? Mums been cooking up a storm in here.â Jake rounded the corner with Sam hand in hand. âSmells so damn good in here.â You again smiled to yourself as Jake can to stand beside you at the kitchen counter, watching as you scooped some pasta bake onto five plates.Â
âWhen's the last time you had a home cooked meal?â It was a simple question but Jake really had to think about it for a moment as he reached over to steal a cucumber slice from the chopped salad.
âDoes food from the bar count?â He asked with a half cocked smile, knowing full well that Penny's burgers and fries wouldnât be considered home cooked in your opinion.Â
âNoââ You grinned as Jake leaned in from behind you, trapping you between him and the counter with both arms encompassing you. âNo, when's the last time it was a home cooked meal?â Jake didn't reply right away, he simply inhaled your scent slowly from behind you and took in the comforting scent of elderberry and juniper. He missed that all encompassing feeling, that safe and warming feeling of your presence.Â
âUhâprobably the last time you cooked for me.â Jake noticed the moment you paused at his words, the revelation that you were having. âAnd it was probably pasta bake, with salad and pork chops, like what weâre having right now.âÂ
âItâs always your favouriteââ It was clear from the very beginning that both you and Jake were getting caught in the moment. But as his hands slowly make their way from the counter top to hips, you know you were too far gone to press the pause button. âJacobââÂ
âI'm a simple man.â Jake cooed as he brought one of his hands up to move your hair from one side of your neck. âLucy tells me you love me.âÂ
âSheâs got a pretty wild imagination that daughter of ours.â You teased as Jake pressed his lips against your neck in a sweet gesture of gratitude for the woman who gave him three beautiful children. âYou need to stopââ You sighed into Jake's warm embrace as he pulled away and let his chin fall to your shoulder. âI donât know where or what you've been in recently.âÂ
âI think she said her name was Vanessa.â Jake taunted as he held you tightly from behind. He felt you tense in his embrace at the very idea heâd been with someone other than you. But you couldnât hold it against him, not now, the pair of you were separated. You held no claim on the man you had left in favour of putting yourself first.Â
But that didnât mean it still didnât hurt.Â
âVanessa a name I should remember?â You asked with a little attitude in your tone Jake caught immediately. He couldnât help but to smirk at the idea you were a little jealous of his very infrequent conquests. He loved you to the end of the world but this was such a frustrating situation to be in. What was a guy supposed to do? Be celebate in hopes his wife came running back?Â
âNopeââ Jake reassured you with another kiss to the neck. âIâm not ready to let you go, I thought maybe I could if I just leaned into the whole thing, whatever it is that weâre doing, but Iâm just not ready to let you go.âÂ
âHave you?â Jake had to clear his throat when he asked. âBeen with anyone, that is?âÂ
âDo you think between work, raising three kids with your DNA and missing you that Iâd have time to get laid?â You knew what Jake would latch onto, the part where you said you missed him. You saw the light in his eye as you turned in his embrace to face him with a mischievous smile plastered across your face.Â
âYou miss me?â Yes. Yes you did. With all your might you missed him everyday and every night. But it didnât change what the two of you became.Â
âDonât try your luckââ You argued, shrugging Jake's query off like the answer was obvious. To him it was, you did miss him. Other sailors tend to recognise other sailors on the sea and Jake missed you tenfold.Â
âOh Iâm feeling like the luckiest guy in the whole world right now.â You could feel Jake pressing himself against you, silently but not so subtly telling you exactly what this whole encounter was doing to him.Â
âReally? Is that so?â You asked like you werenât aware of the rock hard erection pressing against your pelvis. Jake just pressed his lips together in an attempt to hold off the crimson red from creeping up his neck and cheeks. But he wasnât backing down from a challenge, especially when you were leaving all the right doors unlocked for him to walk right through.Â
âSo lucky that I couldnât help but to notice the spare bed hasnât even been made up?âÂ
âOh so you assumed Iâd be your personal chef and the maid tonight?â You countered as you looked around for your three small children, not wanting to expose them to such x-rated content before you slowly but surely sunk your hand into the sweatpants Jake had recently changed into. Damn those grey sweats and damn Jake for going commando. âYou are perfectly capable of making your own bed.âÂ
The way your palm wrapped around his length sent sparks through Jake's body like nothing heâd ever felt before. Your touch was so beautiful and elegant, like you knew exactly what he needed and where he wanted it.Â
âOr I could just sleep in yours, with you.â Jake nearly begged as your fist slid up and down his hardened length, feeling him twitch under your control. âHoneyââ He nearly moaned as he fell forward into you, letting his forehead rest against yours. âYouâre killing me here.âÂ
âWhat donât you get about the fact weâre separated?â You asked almost teasingly like you werenât pumping him slowly as dinner cooled on the counter behind you while your kids played in the living room.Â
âFor as long as you have my last name, youâre my wife, end of story.â Butterflies, thatâs how youâd describe the feeling inside you when Jake, your somewhat ex husband, told you you were still his. You never wanted to not be his, but you were sure that Vanessa maybe wondered if sheâd ever be his too.Â
âOh you are so full of yourself.â You slowly but surely pulled your hand out from Jakeâs sweats and watched him nearly deflate at the loss of sensation, but he never missed a beat, Jake was quick like that, he always had been.Â
âYou could be full of me too if you just let your guard down a little.âÂ
âJake!!â You slapped his chest firmly as your kids all rushed in at the smell of food.Â
âIâll take my stuff upstairs shall I?â He grinned ear to ear, knowing by the way your jaw remained on the ground he had you hook, line and sinker.Â
âYeah, you can, to the spare room you idiot.â You watched as Jake fixed himself up and headed in the direction of the stairs. You were still so in love with this man.Â
âLenny! Whereâs your mothers room?â Jake turned to your eldest son who always knew that the two of you were going to make it through whatever this rough patch was. He had friends who had divorced parents, and even at the young age of six, Lennox knew his parents didnât hate each other.Â
âUpstairs to the left, itâs the messy one.â You gave your son the stink eye as he beamed up at you.Â
âPerfect.â Jake chuckled and sent you a wink. âIâll be right back.â He was getting laid tonight and you both knew it.Â
âIâmââ You hardly had the energy to keep your whole hard to get act up, so with a sigh, you let your guard down for the man who held your heart in the palm of his hands. âYouâre unbelievably.âÂ
âIâve been told by the youth on base itâs called Rizz now.â Jake yelled back as he jogged up the wooden stairs, you could just barely hear him as his voice faded the higher he climbed. But nevertheless, you still heard him.Â
âWell I canât wait to get both you and your ârizzâ out of my house!â You shouted back, Lenny just laughed as he watched his Dad pull a funny face at your words from the top of the stairs.Â
âYou donât mean that.â He smiled up at you. âYou and dad love each other.â It made your heart skip a beat, but you had to remember that you were playing a dangerous game here. Letting Jake in now would only break his heart more. You had to do what was best for you, and that was to remain separate. At least while you were fighting for your life.Â
âMaybe, but heâs still a pain in my ass Lenny.âÂ
