Informa Pharma Intelligence, one of the business intelligence providers and knowledge partner, concluded its involvement at this year's CPhI & P-MEC Expo, a hybrid conclave hosted between 24 to 26 November 2021 at India Expo Centre – Greater Noida and at the online conference and networking event held between 15 to 30 November 2021.
The conclave witnessed participation from key influencers and leading figures across the pharmaceutical industry, and hosted domestic and foreign drug makers, contract service providers, and pharma machinery players under one roof, providing them with a chance to craft future growth plans together.
Indian pharmaceutical market’s expansion
India's pharmaceutical market is in the midst of a growth spurt, having increased in value from $21bn in 2016 to $29bn in 2020 – a figure that is expected to reach $41bn by 2024. Key industry drivers include a rise in disease prevalence, economic growth and higher disposable incomes, improvements in the healthcare infrastructure, and growth in the number of people covered by health insurance. In a bid to stay afloat during the need to step up the demand towards high quality, low-cost pharma solutions, CPhI & P-MEC India has curated a gateway to network with industry peers for the latest trends and innovative solutions that the market has to offer.
The event is geared towards building pharma community engagements, network amongst the fraternity, and source innovative solutions on-site from exhibitors who have footprints both domestically and globally, and cover the entire pharma supply chain - from APIs, machinery, technology, packaging, outsourcing, finished products and biopharmaceuticals. Alongside the expo, and under the aegis of the India Pharma Week, an exclusive and strategic closed door CEO Roundtable meeting took place, inviting the top leaders of India's pharmaceutical companies. The 'CEO Roundtable' was conducted on 24 November in partnership with Informa Intelligence, whose perspectives and key discussion points will also yield a white paper report.
The pharma industry is anticipated to have a steady growth trajectory and the event organized by CPhI India has focused on the key driving factors for the same. The expansion of medicine manufacturing pertaining to the evolving epidemiological profile of the country will be instrumental for India being the preferred drug manufacturing destination on a global scale. Empty Capsules Market Is Driven By Geriatric Population, Proliferation Of Pharmaceutical, & Nutraceutical Till 2024
San Francisco, 07 Oct 2019 - The global empty capsules market is expected to reach USD 2.57 billion by 2024, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc. Key factors responsible for the growth are the increase in the geriatric population, proliferation of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmeceutical industries, globally and the upsurge in the consumer preferences for capsules over tablets.
The rising geriatric population count and the associated chronic conditions are expected to heighten the demand for the production of capsule-centric medications in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical application areas. Moreover, the benefits associated with capsule consumption, such as ease of swallowing, faster absorption rates, and increased palatability are also expected to contribute significantly to the expansion of the market over the forecast period.
The mushrooming of the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmeceutical industries is expected to serve as a high impact rendering driver for the empty capsules market over the forecast period.
The nutraceuticals aid in the prevention of certain chronic conditions and hence the consumption of these products has significantly increased over the past few years. For instance, nutraceuticals, such as omega-3 fatty acids, help in the prevention of cardiovascular conditions and the heightened accessibility to these low-cost vitamin supplements has reduced the incidences of vitamin deficiencies.
In 2015, the gelatin capsules segment accounted for the highest revenue of nearly USD 1,172.3 million. This high revenue share is attributed to the following factors: sufficient availability of gelatin for the production process and the cost-effectiveness of gelatin capsules as compared to non-gelatin capsules, such as Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) capsules and pullulan or starch material capsules.
However, the non-gelatin capsules segment is expected to emerge as the fastest growing category with a CAGR of 6.9% from 2016 to 2024. With the source of the non-gelatin capsules being vegetarian, the religious and cultural issues experienced in connection with capsules containing animal-derived inactive ingredients can be evaded; this factor is estimated to be primarily responsible for the large consumer base of this market over the forecast period.
Download Full Insight: http://www.grandviewresearch.com/industry-analysis/empty-capsules-market
Further key findings from the study suggest:
In 2015, the antibiotic and antibacterial drugs segment generated the largest revenue of USD 453.7 million owing to the surge in prevalence of a range of infectious diseases and chronic conditions worldwide. The vitamins and dietary supplements category is expected to exhibit the fastest growth rate of 7.8% over the forecast period.
Global efforts to reduce malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies by various social welfare organizations and government agencies are expected to boost the usage rates over the forecast period.
In 2015, North America dominated the empty capsules market with a revenue share of over 39.6% due to the high disease burden, the access to the latest drugs in this region, and the high consumption rate of nutraceutical and cosmeceutical products in this region. Increase in the geriatric population susceptible to varied conditions and disorders coupled with the burgeoning of various bacterial and viral infections is expected to improve the market penetration of various antibiotics, multivitamin supplements, and other drugs.
The Asia Pacific region is estimated to grow with the highest CAGR of 7.9% over the forecast period. The increase in healthcare expenditure and the rise in per-capita disposable incomes are expected to improve the overall access to healthcare facilities and medicines across several developing countries in this region. Moreover, the upsurge in the prevalence of infectious diseases and chronic conditions in this region are also expected to positively reinforce the market growth over the forecast period.
The market dynamics indicate the presence of strong competition amongst the key players, such as Capsugel, Inc., ACG Associated capsules Pvt. Ltd., JC Biological Technology Co. Ltd, CapsCanada Corporation, Medicaps Ltd., Qualicaps, Inc. (Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation), Patheon, Inc. (Banner Pharmacaps, Inc.), Roxlor LLC, Sunil Healthcare Ltd.(Sunloc Healthcare, Inc.), and Nectar Lifesciences Ltd.
Furthermore, the increase in the demand for generic drugs and contract manufacturing services is expected to open up new avenues for the market growth over the forecast period.

The global D-Amino Acids market is projected to reach US$236.4 million by 2024, driven by its growing role as biologically important organic compounds in pharmaceutical drug production; and emerging new industrial applications. The pharmaceutical industry represents the largest end-use sector, with D-amino acids such as such as D-Cysteine, D-Serine, D-alanine, D-aspartate being major constituents in the manufacture of antibiotics, peptidoglycans, siderophores and surfactins. Significant investments in biomedical and protein engineering is poised to expand the use of d-amino acids in this end-use sector coupled with application expansion supported by breakthrough understanding of the physiological functions of D-amino acids and its metabolic routes for synthesis. Specifically, growing use of D-Cysteine a non-proteogenic sulfur-containing amino acid and D-Serine a non-essential amino acid and dextro isomer of serine, as anti-cancer agents and antibiotics will help spur opportunities for growth in this space. Also benefiting growth is the reviving drug development interest in peptide compounds and molecules which were hitherto widely perceived as ineligible chemical candidates for drug development. In the nutraceuticals sector, consumer desire to maintain healthy lifestyles is helping drive demand for d-amino acid supplements. Of special note is the growing use of D-Tryptophan amino acid in manufacturing of liquid protein weight-loss products. In industrial applications, there is growing investigational interest in the use of D-amino acids as a herbicide resistance gene in herbicide treatment solutions and also as marker genes for the development of transgenic trees. Growing concerns over the use of antibiotic resistance genes in genetically modified plants is driving the focus on alternative, environmentally friendly markers such as D-amino acids based markers. Asia-Pacific represents the largest and the fastest growing market worldwide with a CAGR of 6.8% over the analysis period. The growth in the region is led by factors such as growing generic drug manufacturing activity; rise of pharmaceutical contract manufacturing services; expansion of the manufacturing base and rise in industrial production in developing Southeast Asian economies.

Empty Capsules Market Size Worth USD 2.57 Billion By 2024: Grand View Research, Inc.
The global empty capsules market is expected to reach USD 2.57 billion by 2024, according to a new report by Grand View Research, Inc.
