i’m not an anti but a former radqueer at the same time, i dislike both sides but i wanted to hear opinions on nulldisabled like nulladhd or nullDyspraxia for me where it’s kind like not wanting to show those symptoms of that disability anymore. it sounds like a rq term, to me, not sure about when it came about but in all reality wanting to not be disabled is quite normal?? its similar in the way that there are transids about wanting a job or a different hair color, those are just common feelings, theyre kindof redundant.

being “transabled” and ACTUALLY being disabled are two different things. it doesn’t matter if someone is mentally or physically disabled. they ARE disabled.

having something that is disabling (mentally or physically) doesn’t mean that you can just want another/different disabling. this also means that said person can’t experience ableism for their ACTUAL disability.

wishing you weren’t disabled, also isn’t the same as “transabled” that is struggling to come to terms with an ACTUAL disability, and is a normal experience.

do you think about how being disabled (at any serverity) actually affects you? do you know the day to day like of having high support needs, or needing a carer? do you know the ableism someone with a disability you ‘identify’ with having faces? do you know the physical and mental battle it is to get diagnosed with said ‘identified’ condition?

adding on to me saying ‘identified’ i’m not talking about self-diagnosis with proof or being in the process of being diagnosed.

wanting to use a mobility aid (that is meant for physical conditions) when you TRULY do not needed (as in being abled bodied) is odd, for lack of a better word.

1- Never said being transabled and (cis)disabled are the same thing. They are, by definition, two different things. 2- People usually don't "just want another disability" generally the feeling is accompanied by dysphoria around not having said disability. 3- Someone who is transabled and (cis)disabled is not magically exempt from ableism. Unfortunately systematic and non systematic ableism is very normalized in our society. I experience ableism on the daily for my very real disabilities, just because I may or may not also be transabled does not affect the fact that I do experience ableism.

Transabled means someone who thinks they should be disabled. Nulldisabled is the term for when someone thinks they should NOT be disabled. Although I see where there could be some confusion there.

Yes I do think about that, given that it is my lived experience. I have lost the ability to shower fully on my own, I have lost the ability to go to school for 5 days in a row. I have been battling to get diagnosed with fibromyalgia for a little over a year now, and I've been fighting to get a diagnosis other than IBS (aka we don't know) for my disabling GI issues for over 5 years now. I have barely ever known a non disabled life.

Odd is not necessarily a bad thing. In my opinion, odd is good.

Yes, that is true. On a factual basis if (for example) someone is trans ME/CFS they will most likely never experience what it is like to have chronic fatigue (of course unless they develop ME/CFS.) Assuming you are talking to me directly, I am disabled. I don't know how many times I will have to repeat that.

That's funny, because I have BIID, and I think it does. People with BIID very often identify with the term transabled. (Also as a small side note, most of the "treatments" like therapy and medications have very low success rates in BIID patients.)

Dw anon, this wasn't passive aggressive, it was just plain aggressive. And I genuinely don't empathize with you (maybe this is just the AsPD speaking.) I'm not trying to be mean but I won't attempt to feign empathy for a person who can't try and understand where other people are coming from. Most transID people I've met have genuine distressing dysphoria from not being their ID. I know people who have become suicidal over not being their ID, I know people who have self harmed because they are so distressed from dysphoria.
