Okay okay, I've gotten to the point in the book where I see sloane's first shift towards dissention and its from seeing how addison and tann immediately started to scramble over her, kesh, and each other for political power in the wake of the inital scourge crisis when, you know, the ship is still in an immediate and severe life support crisis, all of their leaders (including Garson presumably) are dead, and there are literal piles of corpses strewn across the station
And honestly? She's so right so far? Why the fuck are we talking about politics and leadership structures right now when the room is on fire??

CONFESSION:
I noticed a few inconcistentcies about the Uprising between what's mentioned in Andromeda and the Nexus Uprising book. And not just 'two sides of a story' but 'given facts that don't match.' The book tells us Sloane wasn't a part of the uprising, only joining after it had already started and the krogan became involved. While the game gives us she was involved from the start (you find an email on Eos saying 'Sloane gave the signal, it's happening') And speaking of Eos, in the book, the outposts never get made. The closest we have is scout parties are sent out and come back empty handed. And the Kett are never encountered. It's the scouting failures and Tann giving the order for everyone to return to status that triggers the Uprising. Yet the game tells us that the constant Kett attacks and two failed outposts are huge contributors to why the Uprising happened. So which one is it?

It was only after I posted that other pic that I remembered that they are canonically vampires in Nevada.
Anyway, JD thinks they're cool as shit. Sam does not agree.

Okay, so, Character Talk Time
I have no idea if this is a popular opinion or not, but I reallllly hate the fact that Alice is an Android
Likeā€¦what?
Okay, let me present my case:
As far as we know, Androids have been said that they ā€œNever get tired, or sadā€ (donā€™t cry?) they donā€™t need to eat, and shouldnā€™t really get cold/feel temperatures. Sure, their bio components will suffer, but they donā€™t feel pain. Extreme temperatures trigger pain (like burning yourself = too hot)
But, Alice does all of this.
She gets tired, she gets sad, she likely eats (I know both times we see her with food, she doesnā€™t want it, but with Kara, we can steal snacks from that one convenience store. Is that just to keep up the appearance that sheā€™s a human girl?) and she gets cold.
Also, she gets a Fever.
ā€œBut Nexus! Luther explains this! He says thatā€™s just how Kara has been seeing it!ā€ I hear you say.
Well, Rose is the one who identifies Aliceā€™s fever, not Kara. Rose is human. She canā€™tā€œsee it her own wayā€. She doesnā€™t have that ability.
So, if someone wanted to design an Android Child, why would they make it have the ability to develop a fever from the cold, or get cold, or get sad and cry?
Isnt that just more work for the parents who are likely getting an Android Child because itā€™s meant to be less stressful?
Iā€™m just saying, the fact that that is the plot twist that the game was working towards for Kara is extremely disappointing.
Also, another reason on why I feel like it was a bad idea:
Connor is meant to let us see the Negatives of the Androids Uprising. Heā€™s what connects Humans to Androids. Heā€™s on one far side of the spectrum.
Meanwhile Markus is to let us see the Human Side of Androids, and the Positives of the Androids Uprising. He gives us Deviant Insight. Heā€™s what connects the Androids together. Heā€™s on the opposite side of the spectrum from Connor.
So to balance it all out, I feel like Kara and Alice should have been the middle. They should have represented how Humans and Androids can live and work together peacefully. How they can love each other and care for each other without it being bad. Thatā€™s what I believed they were doing from the beginning, but for that to be wrong, really sucks.
Anyway, I hope this is a popular opinion, because I really do think it should have gone that way.

Marvel Rewatch Easter Eggs, Notes and Other Stuff: Loki
Season 1:
- First mention of Nexus Event
- TVA introduction film showcases the Kree fighting the Nova Corp as an example of a Nexus uprising
- Lokiā€™s file states heā€™s genderfluid canonically (despite the dialouge suggesting otherwise)
- Lokiā€™s tape ends when the ship explodes, meaning Loki died when the ship exploded, so the last thing Loki felt was Thor holding him
- Lokiā€™s tape is labeled ā€œETH 616ā€
- Roxxcart, Roxxon store
- Loki looks up into the Hurricane, probably looking for Thor
- They combined the Enchantress and Lady Loki
- Loki confirms heā€™s bisexual
- Mobius mentions dealing with Kree, Titans, and vampires
- Alioth
- At the end of time you can see:
- Thanos-copter
- Throg (Thor frog)
- Yellowjacketā€™s giant helmet
- Crashed SHIELD helicarrier
- Dilapidated Avengers tower says ā€œQengā€
- Roxxiwine
- Polybius game
- The Living Tribunalā€™s head
- Ronanā€™s ship
- The Citadel at the End of Time
- Kang the Conqueror/ He Who Remains
Season 2:
- Casey listens to the podcast ā€œStaying Awakeā€ as does Steven Grant in Moon Knight
- Zaniac
- Poster for one of Kingoā€™s (The Eternals) movies
- Loki becomes the God of Stories/ Yggdrasil
- A Kang variant "caused a ruckus on a 616-adjacent realm, but they handled it." referencing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
- Loki tells Sylvie his biggest fear is being alone, only to be alone for eternity to save everyone
- Loki goes back to the first day he met Mobius for the motivation to do what he has to because present day Mobius would never have told him to do it because he cares for Loki too much

All of these are from the Prologue, and it's enough to showcase just how fascinated Sloane was with Jien Garson. She was so many things to Sloane, it's actually cute to think that THE Sloane we know and love would have this much respect and admiration for one woman. Like, she genuinely believed in Garson and her Andromeda ambitions despite everything. Her death took a big toll on Sloane which I think was a big part of her arc in the book. Romantic feelings or not, Jien was VERY a very important person to Sloane.
Jien's wishes and ambitions, I think, is something that Sloane believes was ruined by the Nexus Leadership. I could try to go deeper into this if I was still in my mass effect mood but for now I just want to express how sad it is knowing that an Andromeda sequel is unlikely to happen. Because I would very much like to continue investigating Garson's murder mystery (and potentially being able to bring Sloane with you for it assuming she's not dead). To give her some sort of closure and build a bridge with the Outcasts. That would be neat I think.
They really gave me the most intriguing and engaging side quest of the entire game and then pulled a murder mystery equivalent of a cockblock. Grrrrrrr. Anyway. I hope this satisfies your question. Nexus Uprising gave me a lot to think about regarding Sloane, Garson and the Nexus Leadership. It's very cool.

Similar to the Khalisah thing it's always bothered me how much some people in the fandom relish shooting Sloane in the back in andromeda, like all the underhanded things Reyes does is justifiable but the black woman being rude to you is an unforgivable sin
Ah, let's be honest here. Sloane is a bit more than just rude, she does terrible things.
And it's not the same situation (because Khalisah is an innocent civilian) but I agree Sloane is not seen as fairly as Reyes is. I tend to think both can be terrible but before my hiatus, Reyes was a bit idolized and Sloane was always the villain of the story. Sloane's flaws were relentlessly pointed out and if, like me, you weren't a fan of denying said flaws, you had to acknowledge them in discussions. You had to say "yes, Sloane can be this or that". But no one would ever really do the same on the other side of that conversation, at the time, so it didn't really feel fair or even interesting to discuss those two. I hope things have changed a bit? It's hard for me to tell. Maybe people who are really cool about those characters tend not to get involved in discussions. Too much energy spent.
Another point to consider: when people don't see Sloane so negatively, they focus more on the turian by her side than on her. Sloane's relationship with Kaetus is really special, but Sloane on her own is fascinating enough.
Anyway, I highly recommend reading the book Nexus Uprising to those who haven't read it yet and want to know more about her and why she's like this in MEA.

I'll continue to always be old and bitter about the direction GW took Necrons in, but there's a bit in the latest White Dwarf (five hundred, apparently - came with a super-neato poster, actually!) about a planet somewhere in the Pariah Nexus that fell victim to a Genestealer Cult uprising and the cult has proven weirdly resistant to the Stilling and also defended the planet so well it pushed the Necrons!
There's a bit about how the Overlord in charge of the invasion got stroppy and basically sicced Destroyers on the planet in a fit of pique, and I will admit the mental image of Skorpekh Destroyers and Purestrain Genestealers just ripping the living piss out of each other is pretty sweet.
Especially since the one Genestealer who shows up in The Infinite and the Divine is written as absurdly lethal. Pretty sure it nearly kills Orikan!

Asking some writers/artists I follow:
Is there anything in your fic/comic that you as the author know about, but won't end up in the actual story?
There has been several things I have scrapped in my story. Most of them are minor, but I can give out a couple ones that were major. 1.) Big Mama was originally gonna be a big part in my story. She would be the host of the Battle Nexus in the Hidden City, and also be one of the members of the Pantheon. Unfortunately, she was scrapped due to how I decided to structure the Pantheon, as well as what the civilization in the Hidden City would be like. As much as I want to put Big Mama in my story, there really wasn't any good way to fit her in. The best I can possibly do is make her a minor villain in the beginning of the Yokai Uprising Arc, where she is the head of a yakuza in the Hidden City.
2.) Rat King was originally going to be a member of the Pantheon. But, I decided to scrap the idea and just make him as his own villain.
3.) The Triceratons were originally going to be the good guys in my story, in where they would play a major part in the final arc. Here, I was originally gonna have them in where they were nearly extinct and were sent to Earth to warn the turtles about the upcoming Krang invasion. Another thing to add on to this was the Krang was going to be Donnie's nemesis. However, this was all changed after I watched TMNT 2003, and decided instead to make the Triceratons the bad guys and create the Galactic Frontier Arc. And here, this arc would be Donnie centric and the Triceratons would be his nemesis
