Wait I know I'm late but I need to know DID THIS EVER HAPPEN?? This sounds like such a good idea imo! (I know it'd work out if a lot of Anime frames would be included, but are there really over 300 panels with him in the manga?? It felt like he didn't have THAT much (sadly) but it sounds awesome, would instantly follow.)
I have a whole folder of manga panels with the Captain, like, every single manga panel he's in I cut out like two years ago (ish) to put in a huge collage sort of thing (it's bad and the upload on DeviantArt is low quality). I'm thinking of making a "Daily Hans Günsche" blog or something like that but I don't have any good name for it and honestly...
Setting it up shouldn't be too difficult but that man, as much as I love him, has enough content for like a year of daily posting lol. I'd have to go through the anime and get some screenshots of him (my obsessiveness won't let me just look online) but my laptop doesn't have a CD port and I want them high quality.
Just an idea tho. Like, my dumb ass can't even log into Tumblr anywhere but this phone lmao.
#Also!!! Y'all know these twitter/other blogs/accounts that post like... Every singular frame of a particular movie/show?#Over the span of a few years usually I think?#Never seen that with hellsing ultimate :(#Would love that tbh.#Also kinda thinking of doing the same thing for Rip AAaaa#But that would only last like... A month or two maybe if I posted one panel a day :(#Maybe 3 if I included the Dawn (which I would)#Maybe even 4 months but not a year :(#Rip babbles

Without You
Friends…I am a Mrs. now! The wedding stuff turned my head to goo...feeling very romantic (but also horny). Sorry for the sappiness in this story, which I baked on/off over the past month. This Alucard is pretty soft with his Reader until he wants to troll.
With how important a concept virginity is in the world of Hellsing, I was surprised by the lack of virginity loss fics, especially with a partner Alucard actually cares for. So I wrote one. Your decision was made. You will not forsake your humanity in exchange for an eternity with your vampire King. On the night he was to take your virginity, there will be no going back.
“Eternity is a long time, little one.” Tags/warnings: 18+ NSFW, Alucard (Ultimate) x Fem!Reader, Vladcard x Reader, Riocard x Reader. Romance, angst/comfort, emotional sex, loss of virginity, vaginal sex, creampie, oral sex, sex marathon, slight bondage & BDSM, partial mind control, anal, snowballing (?), tiny bit of predator/prey (Alu can’t help that side of himself), AFTERCARE, Alucard uses his abilities... Words: 10441
Tumblr won't let me post the full fic even though I've seen longer fics here before. So here's the link.
An excerpt is below the cut.
Dracula was crying. It felt as though he murdered you metaphorically even if you were still living, which was foolish because the sex only solidified the fact you will never turn into a ghastly vampiric monster like him. Yet the act also represented the end of something. The dream that you might always be together. Bloody tears stained his face and the silky sheets. He held you close, squeezing you into the soft mattress as he wept silently, unwilling to let you physically part from him.
You understood. Your arms found their way around his broad back and caressed soothingly in an oval track. Salty tears fell down your cheeks as you mourned with him –you mourned the fact you won’t always be there for him.
Sir Integra gave her blessing to your relationship with her servant years ago, instructing you to take care of him because he was little more than a sobbing child. Her words were nonsensical at the time. This creature of mass destruction, a sobbing child? She had been right all along.
You kept rubbing his back while you peppered his head with light kisses. You were lost in the intimacy of the moment, but when you came to, the vampire in your arms was Alucard again, peering at you lazily like he wasn’t vulnerable just now. This was the form in which you met. You loved him as the King, but also like this. You loved him in all his forms. You pet his sinfully alluring face as he purred and leaned into your touch. He loved to be touched.
He was so beautiful it just wasn't fair. His stunning appearance and cryptic mannerisms used to fluster the heck out of you. Fortunately, after many years together, you managed to better compose yourself in his presence. Until the next time he discovered another way to pester you, as Alucard does.
The Cheshire grin told you he heard your thoughts. “I’m not reading your mind, sweet, you are telling me.” He looked too pleased with himself. You exhaled. Nothing was fair to begin with when it came to this immortal being. “Come love, join me in the bath,” you told him, making to get up from the tear-stained bedsheets when you were swept off your feet and into lean arms several feet off the ground. “Alu, I can still walk!” You laughed at his overprotectiveness.
A sound at the back of his throat reverberated as he silently drew the bath and poured in scents and products, never letting you out of his grasp while he waited for the tub to fill with steamy water. “We will rectify that by the time I am through with you.” He finally replied, lowering both of you into the water, a devious grin painting his lips.
The bubbly water level reached your shoulders. You wriggled against a toned, lanky body to get comfortable, ignoring the boner poking your rear as you enjoyed the bath with Alucard. His head was thrown back against the tiles as he felt you shift around, your vampire the image of relaxation and contentment, his long limbs hanging awkwardly outside the tub. You sighed and leaned against him, the soothing water jets the only sound in the room.
He washed you, sweat and fluids sliding off your body with each swipe of his hands. "My Queen. My love...I will protect you. Always." His voice was low, eyes lidded and rippling with intent as he scented your rising arousal.
He buried his long nose in the crook of your throat and crooned, the elixir of your blood that raced under the skin ravishing his senses. He had been obsessed with your neck since the night you met. How he loved to lick, nuzzle, and sniff your throat. Running dexterous fingers down your waist, he found slick vertical lips once more.
The vampire made his infamous landshark smile from behind you, two rows of pointy teeth glinting in the soft light of the bathroom. He lapped at the side of your jugular, a low moan sounding deep from his chest as he teased, “So tempting, love.”
You snickered, head tilting over as if to invite him in, daring him to bite as you held his head and pushed his mouth against your throat. His teeth ached with the compulsion to drink, your intoxicatingly heady aromas tickling his bestial nature…
His fangs descended, his cock twitched. Alucard growled, huffing and finally ripping away from the urge to sink fangs into your vein. “A dangerous game you play, little one.”

Say, after reading your last commentary on Integra, now I need your POV on something I've been wondering.
What do you think will happen to Hellsing once Integra dies? To Alucard and Seras? Integra has expressed no interest in having children, and since she wants to avoid becoming a vampire, we know she won't be alive forever. Does she have a plan for that?
Hi! Omg so sorry to take so long to get to answering this, life has been insane on my end.
To answer your question, I'd wager there's a plan in place. Whether it pans out according to Integra's expectations or not is what remains to be seen. Integra mentions that the Organization will be passed over to the general military once she passes, and the Crown will thus assume direct control of the agency and its vampires. I'm willing to bet good money that the sigils that bind Alucard and Seras could potentially be transferred. If they are, then they'll keep up their job as the UK's resident vampire pest control until something extreme happens to break that bond of servitude. The nature of these sigils is unfortunately never explored fully, nor how they work, which leaves us with naught but speculation. However, this is my educated guess at how they probably work.
On the other hand, let's entertain the more interesting prospect of if those sigils are less malleable than we think, and it becomes impossible to bend Alucard and Seras to the will of someone else. From there? If the British military effectively has to try to keep these two under control through... What, good will? Threat of force? Both ideas are ultimately laughable. If that is the case, then I think Alucard is going to assess the inheritor's character and convictions. If he finds Integra's replacement to be unworthy, and there are no magic spells forcing him to play nice, then I think he probably peaces out to take a nice long nap. I think he probably goes into hibernation after Integra's passing - which, mind you, I think he'll be destitute following. It would be hard to read from him, but he holds Integra in high esteem, and went out of his way to return to her after Schroödinger-gate. That shows a high degree of loyalty, and I think Alucard would be laying low for a minute. After he wakes up, however, is when I suspect he might piss off into the unknown, wandering around the world - perhaps in search of interesting people to meddle with the lives of, secretly hoping he'll find the next Anderson, the next Integra, et cetera. I suspect he'll probably go right back to eating people, though. I'd put money on him perhaps being a bit more Punisher-esque on the humans he kills for food than before, since he has hinted at the idea of humans rubbing off on him in the series before. So less the kind of guy who devours the most innocent and defenseless people imaginable, and more likely he interferes with mortal affairs that he can justify to himself are morally bankrupt so he has a steady supply of enemies to destroy and humans to feed on. I don't see him turning all of England into a necrotizing wasteland with him at the head. I think that would beneath his interest by now. I think harassing and stalking people he deems unique or entertaining would occupy much of his time post-hibernation.
Seras, however, is interesting. I suspect Seras would stick around at Hellsing of her own volition, and would continue aiding Britain in its cause to protect people and slay undead monsters. That's what she became the person she is while doing, and I think with or without Alucard, she'll keep on generally being a goody two-shoes. But I think even she would grow weary of it eventually. With Integra gone, I think it becomes less and less like the home Seras "grew up" in - and if the new commanders are inept, then I think eventually Seras would reach a breaking point where she too, might go rogue. She might tag along with Alucard for a while, and I'd wager they keep regular contact and check in with one another on a semi-frequent basis (which, for vampires, might mean catching up once a decade or some shit). Seras is her own independent person, especially after accepting her vampirism and drinking blood to become autonomous as Alucard always urged her to be. But just as that's true, I feel their relationship was always one of Seras, despite everything, wanting to remain by Alucard's side. Their relationship would no doubt shift, and I suspect they might grow more reserved with one another, but I think they might find a new kind of emotional intimacy with one another - not romantic (I like Aluseras from time to time but this is my baseline read), to be clear, but I think Seras has the vampire equivalent of her late-twenties-development after Teggy passes. And from there? Anybody's game, but I think she keeps on bumping off rogue vampires - although I think with time, it might become more territorial than altruistic in how she carries herself. Less general heroics talk and more like, a vigilante warden type of dealio. She might come to see Britain as HER TERRITORY which would spell doom for any foreign vampires thinking they can feed on "her" humans. I think time as a vampire makes everybody go a little dark, but this is still pretty tame. It's Seras, after all. She'll flay you to ribbons but only if you really, REALLY press her.
Thanks so much for the ask!!!

Muse suggestion: Seras Victoria (Hellsing anime)
Maybe. Possibly.
On one hand, very sexy and badass. And British
But at the same time... while Bitches Love Canons, I have only ever seen Hellsing Abridged. Never seen the original anime nor the Ultimate OVA.
So... I guess, Maybe?

I am not sure why you decided to cover Evangelion all of a sudden, but I am hella old like you and haven't watched it for whatever reason either. (which was strange because it was all the rage back at school thousands of years ago)
Not sure why this series eluded you also, but anyway I just want to thank you for this opportunity as I have decided to watch along. Looking forward to seeing more of your analysis.
Do you have any other bucket list 90s anime series that you have some interest in covering? I recently got around to Martian Successor Nabisco myself because the theme song is amazing
PS: You're a chemist right? Please make some crazy chemical that will make oldness go away for your sake and mine, it's 2024 I can't believe we haven't invented immortality yet
Thank you for reading.
I don't remember exactly when I first heard of NGE, but I'm pretty sure it was in the late 90s, probably in the Diamond Previews or Wizard Magazine. As I got deeper into comic book collecting, I bought both of those publications, and as anime started to gain a foothold in North American nerd culture, I started to see more and more anime/manga products referenced or advertised in Wizard and Previews.
I pretty much despised anime in the early 90s, mostly thanks to poor localizations of shows like Superbook and Speed Racer, which made the whole genre look like a bad joke. I remember those ads for "Japanimation" that tried so hard to make it sound badass and cool, but the ads were so corny that they ended up making the stuff look even dumber. By 1997 or so I had kind of learned to tolerate it as a concept, although I still had no interest in it. Sailor Moon was on Toonami, but it seemed like they only put it in the block to add a certain variety to the show. Vintage superhero fare, Thundercats, Sailor Moon, and that Johnny Quest show with CGI. Then they added an obscure show called Dragon Ball Z to the lineup, and that slowly won me over.
By 2000 I was tuning into Toonami mainly for Batman and Superman TAS, and getting hooked on DBZ and Tenchi Muyo! at the same time. I refer to these as the "Four Horsemen of Toonami" for that reason. In 2001 I started writing a Superman/Tenchi crossover, which basically cemented my status as a huge weeb. (Luffa is just a continuation of my effort to do fanfics of the Four Horsemen block of Toonami.*)
Anyway, somewhere in this period I probably started seeing merch for Rei and Asuka in their plugsuits or whatever they're called. I might have seen the Evas but let's be real, a mech wouldn't have stood out much in a genre full of giant robots. I'd see ads for things like Eva and Revolutionary Girl Utena and wonder just what the hell these things were about, but I also just shrugged and accepted that I would probably never find out, since anime was expensive and difficult to find, and I wasn't going to go out of my way just to satisfy idle curiosity. Back in those days, anime was an investment, and I wasn't going to pay thirty bucks for three episodes of something unless I knew it would be good. I tried a few things like Noir and Excel Saga, but only because I had a fairly decent idea what I was getting into.
By 2016, I had more disposable income, and this blog was pretty well established as a way to spend my free time, so I started looking for new things to watch. I checked out Hellsing Ultimate mostly so I'd be able to understand the jokes in Hellsing Ultimate Abridged. I checked out JJBA because it was red hot at the time, and everyone was talking about who their favorite Jojo was, and I wanted to know what that meant. I checked out Utena because I got a tip that it was available for free on YouTube, and I watched the first season of Sailor Moon. I didn't do all of that in 2016. It probably took me until 2018 to get all that watched.
So it was probably somewhere in there that I gave serious thought to tracking down Neon Genesis Evangelion, because it's one of those that I always wondered about, and now I had the means to actually find it and watch it, and I had enough anime experience that I felt reasonably confident that I could appreciate it. I suspect that I could have screened it between 1997 and 2010 I just would have been confused. But I've seen people talk about it for a lot of years, and probably a lot of that's been on tumblr, and it's just one of those things that's been on the fringes of my pop culture awareness.
I think NGE finally became available on Netflix in 2020 or something? But there were fans complaining about the dubs and the subs, so I thought I should hold off for a while. In 2021 I finally just said "fuck it" and bought a used copy of the "Perfect Collection" on DVD. My thing was, if I was going to watch this, I wanted to get it right the first time. I've savored Dragon Ball for decades by watching the dub, then the subs, but if I'm going to try out new stuff I don't want to have to keep going back to get the "true" experience.
I'm doing it now mainly because I hadn't had time before. I've been caught up in other things, and 2024 looked wide open, so I started thinking about things I've been putting off that I really wanted to do, and this was one of the first things I thought of. I just want to scratch that itch, and even if this show turns out to be awful, at least I can have the satisfaction of knowing I finally saw for myself.
As far as other old anime titles, I don't have any immediate plans. I still need to watch the Akira movie, but I read the manga so that sort of damped my interest in checking out the movie version. Galaxy Express 999 is on my bucket list, kind of for the same reasons as Evangelion and Utena, where I used to see ads for it and wondered what it was about. Fist of the North Star also interests me, because it has a kickass theme song, and I'm pretty sure it had a profound influence on the early years of JJBA. But I probably won't get around to them for a while.
Ultimately, there's only so much I can do with the time I have on this planet. There is no elixir of life, and unless they let you watch anime in heaven, I have to set priorities. One gripe with anime that I still retain from my youth is that it's pretty damn impenetrable. What I mean by that is that you can't even remotely judge a title by its cover, and so much of this stuff runs together that it's impossible to tell what would appeal to me and what isn't worth my time. I think that's why I've let popular culture and memes guide me in recent years. Stuff like JoJo Fridays and "Bitch, I Drink People" are tips that these shows had lasting appeal, and you don't make an impression like that without having a solid story. They can put a bunch of boobs on a DVD cover, but they can't draw a picture of the stuff that counts.
#ask duhragonball#2024ngeliveblog#*and where... is the batman? he's at home! washin' his tights! hahahahahahaha!

JVC Post #30
Welcome to the NHK
This was one of the first anime I watched on my own, and at the time I loved it. I thought it was one of the best anime I had seen. Now, after watching it again after so many years, I still think it's pretty good, but not as good as I thought at one point. It's part of a slew of important anime that came out in 2006, which was a huge year in anime. Some other big names from that year are The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya(<3), The Familiar of Zero, Death Note, Aria, and Code Geass. There were also some cool OVAs like the Hellsing Ultimate OVA and Dai Mahou Touge. Though this anime is way too pervy. I think there's a lot this series could have done if it didn't have so much perv humor (even if I get why it was included).
Satou is a pretty well written character as well. He feels like a realistic portrayal of a shut-in NEET. This is a common point that a lot of people bring up when they watch this show.
That being said, Satou is also pretty clearly mentally ill (he doesn't have schizophrenia) which is part of the depiction of hikikomori. It's easy to tell someone that you just have to go out and talk to people or whatever, but it's never that easy for that person. For someone like Satou, something that simple is an insurmountable hurdle. Though, it's not just presenting Satou's issues. It also shows you (and Satou) that everyone struggles in their own way. This is harder to see in the 4 episodes we watched but I think the way this show presents mental illness and the complex situation someone Satou is in is something worth noting.
But all of this is really slapped around by the presentation sometimes. Particularly the way it jumps around after episode 11. The anime is a lot different than the manga or light novel, which are more focused. I feel like this anime would be better if it had stuck to what it was building up in the first half of the show instead of going off on a tangent in the later half. It would have been great as a 13-14 episode anime, even if they did change a lot of it from the light novel/manga. While I love MMORPGs, we didn't need 8 episodes about it in the show.
Its hard to get everything out of this anime with just a few episodes. Some of the episodes are just stuffed with great moments. Despite a lot of it being gross and weird, not a lot of shows have this sort of presentation of otaku culture to my knowledge so it's neat to see. It makes me cringe and look away but it's neat.
What I think the main point of this series is, is to tell people who identify with Satou that no one can go it alone, and to get them to realize that people like Misaki don't exist. You can't hope that someone is gonna knock on your door and rip you out of what you're going through. You have to put in work to make progress on your own; No one can do it for you. It also uses the NHK (Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai) as a metaphor for blaming the world around you rather than looking inward. It's easy to imagine that you're part of some conspiracy or are in your situation because somehow everything is out to get you, but that's not (usually) the case.
However, I think the "message" of the show might be kind of murky and not well defined. Even with it's realistic depiction of an otaku shut-in NEET, it doesn't say enough about it or offer anything for Satou in the end other than a bittersweet, unhealthy relationship with Misaki. People who relate heavily to Satou aren't going to come out of NHK with anything but a lasting impression of that realistic depiction and will have nothing to go off of. It's a bit disappointing.
Lastly I wanna point out a cultural reference I noticed that I hadn't before. Though we didn't watch it, you can see in episode 3 when Yamazaki hands Satou his top 10 gal-games he hands him "Toki-doki Memorian" which is an obvious reference to Tokimeki Memorial (which is a great game you should play it). Pururin is also pretty clearly inspired by Di Gi Charat's Dejiko.

I saw one of your asks on Alucard orders and how he bends things to what he wants within orders. Would this at all be remedied with more specific orders from his master or just have set perameters for emergency situations. Like just incapacitating humans via hypnosis if they are an informed/involved party (soldiers in rio for example). Have one where he’s always supposed to intervene with threats that come near the manor.
I know this more so the writings faults but if that would work to be more specific. It kinda makes integra and her father look very incompetent/poor leaders. Giving out the same order of search and destroy that always has the same messy result isn’t smart. Then again all of human employees did die so that might speak to the quality of their training at hellsing.
Maybe I’m making mountain out of mole hole because hirano never really specified how the seals/orders work, they are never really challenged in any meaningful way in story.
You're right there, Anon. You bring up some very important points that I think aren't talked about that frequently, if at all.
We have seen plenty of examples from the anime of how downright incompetent Alucard is and how Integra seems to fail at truly reigning him in, even giving into his antics or letting him rile her up against her better judgement. Whether or not Alucard has ulterior motives or is truly just flying by the seat of his pants when he goes out of his way to defy or challenge Integra's authority, that's up for debate. This sort of goes into my headcanon on how Integra's father has influenced her conduct with her subordinates and her position as director, but that's another subject entirely.
Anyway, as far as "threats that come near the manor" go...he already blew that one. Alucard was sitting on his nonexistent ass the whole time the Valentine brothers were making chop suey of Integra's men. He was minding his own business at a time where it was literally his business to get up and do something. What a jackass.
But as far as specific orders or set parameters go, it seems like Hirano just...didn't give a rat's ass, honestly. He set out to create a gratuitously violent, over-the-top, campy and, lesbi-honest, really homoerotic manga, and that's what we got. The plot for Hellsing Ultimate is about as structurally sound as a Nature Valley granola bar. In my opinion? It would make sense for Integra to give Alucard some set parameters, but I gotta ask: what parameters did she give him where he can still sit on his ass during a terrorist attack, kill a whole SWAT team in a different country, and apparently turn people who he dubs "worthy" into vampires? She might as well let him do whatever he wants and afterwards say, "Alucard, eat a Snickers."
I can see how setting certain parameters can help guide him to make better (or less expensive/legally damning) decisions. But I imagine that there would have to be a lot of set parameters in place. I can just imagine there being a whole file cabinet dedicated to specific orders and parameters just for Alucard. They'd have to put it in his basement. Something to read, I suppose.
I believe that the only thing the seals actually do (if they actually do anything at all) is make it so he must listen to direct orders and cannot kill/harm a member of the Hellsing bloodline, at least not directly. Otherwise, it seems like he has no problem not following orders down to the letter.

What is some good vampire media i. Like just came to the realization that I don’t know much. Finishing Dracula and watching the movie soon, watched the Netflix castlevania and i wanna watch iwtv soon (both of them)! I ask because I trust ur taste :-]
AH Hi! Feeling very honored that you trust my taste aha
I hope you enjoy Interviw with The Vampire and whichever Dracula movie youre watching! There is certainly no shortage of Dracula movies out there for one, both actual attempts at adapting the book and otherwise. There is literally (at least) one for every year from 1969-1979 lol so if you dig 70s stuff that’s certainly something to explore.
Obviously there’s vampire stuff out there in a range of aesthetics and subgenres, so I’m gonna try to cover a little variety of vibes off the top of my head, and hopefully one of these things is in your preferred flavor of vampire :)
unorganized list with brief synonsis’ under the cut
As for serious vampire series the only thing that comes to mind rn are some anime/manga. Vampire Hunter D is a light novel series with two anime film adaptations. The newer one, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (2000) is like an all-time favorite animated movie for mine. D is an angsty half-vampire vampire hunter, and it’s also set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi/fantasy world. Really good mix of more traditional vampire lore with science fiction elements. Vampirism is implied to be the effects of a plague that swept earth as well as like a magical affliction in this.
Trinity Blood is a similar post-apocalyptic hard sci-fi/fantasy mix. Leaning more on the gothic fantasy side. It’s set in a world where we’ve gone back to the Catholic church being the dominate like governing force, so the main character Abel is (again an angsty half-vampire vampire hunter) a funny little priest man. The vampires are like really demon/angel vibes in this, but are also implied to be the result of intermingling with an alien species that humanity fought pre-apocalypse, if I remember correctly. I havn’t read or watched any of this since high school so it might suck now lol
The Hellsing manga/Hellsing Ultimate OVA. An all time fav of mine, but I also havnt reread any since high school so, again, it may suck now lol. This one is more modern than anything traditional fantasy. It’s set in the 90s and centered around Abraham Van Helsing’s (great?) granddaughter, Integra, running a vampire-hunting organization, with thee Dracula now calling himself Alucard (lol) as her weird devoted man-slave. The villains are undead nazis who have come back to take over the world after scientifically achieving vampirism in the pursuit of immortality. So it’s basically like Dracula and his cool lesbian boss fight vampire nazis … with guns. It’s good stupid fun. And Alucard is a really good example of vampire character who is both a gleeful killing machine and a miserable “I regret the loss of my humanity and the fact that I can never die” poor little meow meow type.
And in non-serious and non-anime (lol) there’s also the What We Do in The Shadows TV show which I’ve seen best described as “what if vampires were gay and stupid”, pokes good fun a lot of common vampire media tropes. And the characters are great. The 2014 movie is the same premise, but different characters.
Some other movies I might recommend are Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter (1974) cheesy 70s movie but has some really great exploration of lesser-discussed vampire lore; the main vampire antagonist doesn’t drink blood but drains youth with a kiss, can have their hypnotic power projected back at them with a reflected surface, and causes dead animals to come back to life when passing over them in the ground, etc. It’s also got fantasic sword fighting scenes, and really fun characters. Kronos in particular is definitely supposed to be a mysterious badass type, but he really just comes off as a socially awkward loveable weirdo. He’s super strange and he smokes weed lol. Set in like a mid-19th century fantasy germanic country.
Lost Boys (1987) or Blade (1998) for more edgy modern vampires. Both movies are stupid. Lost Boys is fun for the vamp characters which are southern Californian teenage biker gang members (gay). and Blade is fun because it’s just so bad it’s good, it’s a movie to be watched for laughs, with vampires who are just like goths that go to blood raves and sit around in suits in fancy rooms. Blade himself is also another angsty half-vampire vampire hunter (I’m realizing I’m fond of this type of character lol).
And finally if you’re looking for something more similar to the Dracula novel, I think I can only recommend Le Fanu’s Carmilla. Older and shorter than Dracula and perhaps a little less exciting, but a solid classic in vampire literature (and lesbian literature), and has a lot of its own adaptations ranging from serious to silly as well.
#I confess I actually havnt seen the netflix Castlevania! I should change that. I saw maybe like two and half random episodes in college#also integra van helsing is not canonically a lesbian btw. but she is in my heart <3#ANYWAY. this is by no means an exhaustive list of vamp stuff I've seen/read and would recommend. so do feel free to let me know if there's#a specific vibe/era/subgenre you're seeking and I can totally give you more :)#asks

Vampire Media: TV Series
A review of various vampire focused series. More under the cut
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
I loved this series. It was on TV during a formative time in my life, and maybe it's why I like vampires. I don't know. If you hate Joss Weadon, that's completely understandable. There were hundreds of people involved in the making of this show, and they were good people, and they put their heart and soul into it, so I think it's worth watching despite Joss. There are some stellar episodes that might be worth watching the whole series for. Buffy is a great character. Spike (vampire villain turned good guy) is probably my favorite character of all time. I like the show's vampires. The episode where Dracula shows up is gold. This series did a mix of funny, terrifying, and serious, so prepare for your emotions to be played with. It's also a really satisfying watch.
I never watched the companion series Angel because I couldn't stand Angel as a character, so I can't comment on it for myself. I have friends who absolutely loved it.
True Blood
Based on the Sookie Stackhouse Series of books. The first season is pure atmospheric vampire gold. The vampires are sexy and scary, and the main character is naive, and Bon Temps still lives in my brain as a place. I love the idea that vampire blood is somehow a drug that gets people high. Later seasons get progressively less good. Part of it is, I think they didn't know what to do with the book storyline. Still worth it for the first few seasons.
Vampire Knight (Anime)
Ah... So I loved this. Typical anime where it's a high school, and you have vampires attending as well as normal kids. You get a love triangle. In the end, there is a twist, and there's an incest subplot that just... got weird. Overall, a great watch except for the incest thing at the end.
First Kill (one season)
Netflix canceled the second season, but in my opinion, it's still a different take on vampires. It is eye candy, and as long as you know that going in and you don't expect too much else from it, it's fun.
Castlevania
Show based on the video game. It's a video game I never played, so I feel like a few things I wasn't prepared for. This show is dark. Prepare for gore, and innocent people dying, and some truly terrible people. Body horror like you wouldn't believe. That said, I kind of love Alucard. Some amazing animation.
Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate (anime)
I love both of these series for different reasons. Both are based on the manga. I love Alucard in this. He's a very interesting vampire. I am nuts for the police girl that he turns, especially in the original Hellsing, which focuses a little more on her. Basically, Van Hellsing created an organization to fight vampires, but it turns out they actually have a vampire working for them who might be someone important. There's a will-they-won't-they thing going on with Alucard and the head of the organization that is really engaging. Alucard keeps going up against bigger and bigger foes, and each time he unlocks a new level of power, and I'm a nut for it every time.
What we do in the Shadows
Last but not least. This show is peak vampire humor. It makes fun of EVERYTHING. There are digs at Anne Rice. There are digs at literally all other vampire media. There's a scene where they get actors from various movies to come in and play their vampire selves, and it is really funny. The characters are perfect, and the storyline is funny. I laughed out loud at least once an episode and often more. There's a movie that happened before this that is also really funny.
@rinniiart I forgot, in the movies, to include Only Lovers Left Alive. If you haven't seen that one, I think you might really like it. I thought of it because What We Do in the Shadows had a joke with Tilda Swinton and it was from that movie, so you kind of have to watch Only Lovers Left Alive to get why she's there. Basically, Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton are vampires facing obsolescence. Beautiful movie. Interesting concept. I also realized I forgot to talk about Blade and Blade 2, both excellent vampire movies. Maybe in a later post I'll talk about them.
Let me know if you've seen any of these and if you did what you thought of them. Thanks for the opportunity to info dump about a special interest of mine.

Was tagged by @sheirukitriesfandom to share 8 shows!
Thanks for the tag!
1.) Trailer Park Boys (...I'm not ashamed, I've watched the entire series probably 20 times)
youtube
2.) Transformers Prime ( a masterpiece )
youtube
3.) Beast Wars (another Transformers series and listen, it's animation has NOT aged well, but the writing is perfection)
youtube
4.) Mr. Bean ( a classic, but both the live action and the cartoon)
youtube
5.) Hellsing Ultimate (WARNING very bloody but the writing, the voice acting, and the animation are the best I have ever seen in an anime)
youtube
6.) Trinity Blood (Nostalgic and ties with Hellsing Ultimate as my fav- sadly, it is very plot hole filled as the manga wasn't finished when the show was adapted, the original creator passed when the manga was only on book 4 from adapting from the original light novels, so you have to look at all 3 in order to get the complete story- and if you're in the United States, the manga was never completely printed here so you have to go online and search for a fan translation- BUT ITS WORTH IT)
youtube
7.) The Addams Family 1964- (the original, I strive to be that Morticia Addams so bad)
youtube
8.) TMNT 2003 - (this one is tricky, because the 2012 version was also VERY good, but 2003 is what I grew up with and I'll NEVER forget Utrom Shredder nor smart, sweet professor Leatherhead- thinking back, this show is probably what turned me into a furry 😔)
youtube
I tag anyone else who wants to do this! You don't have to add the videos, I just added that to further show you my "shining rock collection".
