Courtyard by Marriott, Nagoya: My home during my adventures in Japan's heartland
Nagoya, often overlooked in favor of Japan’s more famous cities, holds a charm that’s all its own. It’s a place where history meets innovation, tradition fuses with modernity, and unique experiences await around every corner. I never thought that I would be able to explore this vibrant area but thanks to the Sun Life Philippines’ Sun Talks Media Digital Media Edition contest for bloggers, I was…

stay outta trouble, yeah?
tangerine x southern!reader, 3.7k words summary: he's taken by their southern accent, much like they're taken by his british one. color him intrigued, because why not? he'll be getting them to safety as soon as he can get away from the fight--or rather, telling them to get to safety. a/n: before you read the rest... there are a few lines i took from the movie to keep part of the plot alive. and then it goes haywire... anyway. listen i was just thinking about how incredible it would be to talk to tangerine and not actually hide my personal accent. here you go, pookies. (i'm from west virginia if that helps you). i've also never been farther than türkiye, so my knowledge of what it's like to travel to japan is very limited. pardon my inaccuracies even though i only talk about it for like... .2 seconds, at most. tw: major canon divergence, talks of blood, wounds, cursing, etc.
It'd been a long few days in Tokyo. Traveling for your own enjoyment was always an incredible thing, but good lord, was it exhausting.
The flight, which was non-stop from the Washington Dulles Airport, thank goodness, was nearly sixteen hours. No connecting flights, no dealing with confusing and unfamiliar airports. But just the flight itself was enough to send your sleeping pattern to all kinds of craziness. Don't even mention the fact that you had to drive to the airport, which took several hours just to get there...
Wasn't the first time, and certainly wouldn't be the last.
Travel was a luxury so many never had the opportunity to experience. When you had the chance to go to Japan, you took it. It was practically a dream vacation, despite how exhausting it truly was.
You'd come back to Tokyo after a few days in Nagoya, the second to last stop on this bullet train, maybe a quick day trip to Kyoto after, but time was of the essence. You may not have planned every little detail for this trip of a lifetime, but you had a good idea as to what you were going to do.
The bullet train would be at your stop in nearly two hours. That was plenty of time to take a nap and probably figure out what you'll do in Nagoya after finding your planned accommodations.
You found a seat in the "quiet" car, almost giddy to know that there was a car specifically for that. Being from the southern United States, the only actual train you could recall was the Amtrak Trains, but even then, you didn't know as much as you could have about them.
You kept your backpack close to you, trying to find your earbuds so you could have them before you actually sit down.
As you walked, absentmindedly, of course, you bump into a rather tall and, might I add, breathtaking man with one of those 80s' mustaches—like the guy from that one season of American Horror Story. It rather suited him, but that's not what you were thinking as the words quickly spilled from your mouth:
"I'm so sorry," you said, southern drawl instantaneous. "Wasn't watching where I was goin'."
The man looked down at you, blue eyes curiously catching yours. He smiled, and you could feel your heart melt within you. Or maybe your lungs. It seemed hard to breathe for a moment.
"No worries, love," he said, a very British accent joining his words. He scrunched his nose a bit and moved out of your way, while the man behind him muttered something under his breath. "No harm done."
You return his smile, although hesitantly. God, was he gorgeous. But that was beside the point. You moved around him, knowing you probably looked like a mess—you had only spent two nights in Tokyo, and they weren't very restful. Skincare could only do so much to make you look awake and not like you've risen from the dead just hours prior.
You choose a seat nearby where the British man and his two friends were sitting, putting your backpack on the table just in front of you. You grabbed your phone from your pocket, making sure you still had your charger in the pack, before you set up your earbuds and your music.
Your eyes flickered over to the British man, not saying anything as you opened your preferred playlist. He briefly glanced back at you and sent a rather cheeky smile before he looked back to the man in front of him.
"Fuckin' hell, mate," Lemon said as he looked at his brother. The man had made him move just so he could have an eye on the American who bumped into him. "Go and talk to ‘em, yeah? Leave me out of it."
Tangerine rolled his eyes. "Fuck off," he said. "We gotta job, yeah? Speakin' of." He stopped and looked towards the White Death's son, blinking slowly for a moment. "You gonna tell us much else or are you keepin' us in the dark?"
The Son mumbled something under his breath, tiredly looking out the window. He didn't know why he was here, other than the two brothers saying they were hired by his dad to get him to safety.
Right. Safety. What a joke.
"Right, so," Tangerine began. "Our job is to keep you safe and to recover the briefcase with the ransom money inside. And I plan on completin' my job and keeping..."
Tangerine looked at his brother, narrowing his eyes. "Lemon."
Lemon looked up at him. "Hmm?"
"Where's the briefcase?"
"Oh, I stashed it."
Tangerine stared at him in admonishment for a bit longer than necessary. "The case, Lemon. Go get me the fucking case."
"We got his son. That was our job."
"Our job was to come back with his son and his 10 million." Tangerine groaned softly and looked out of the window, sucking in a breath. "Three words describe our situation right now. Do you know what they are?"
"Sure do," said Lemon. He held up a hand and counted them off as he spoke: "Saved his son."
"Motherfucker," Tangerine blurted. He went on his spiel about the White Death, which seemed to be quite imperative as Lemon hadn't read the email he forwarded to him. Of course he hadn't—when did he ever? Why did he bother?
"He asked for pros who wouldn't fuck up," Tangerine said. "Three words, Lemon. We are..."
"Fucked." They say the words together, and if it had been another time, perhaps just hours prior, it would have been fun. Not this time. No, this time, they knew they were in deep shit.
They needed to get that suitcase and quick.
They returned to the Son only for him to be... well, let's put it frankly, bleeding from his eye-sockets and mouth, and so very dead.
"Well, shit," Tangerine sucked in a breath as he looked at the boy who had called him a liability only moments earlier.
The two trained assassins set to work on making it look like he was merely sleeping, even going as far as giving him Momonga glasses. You never know.
Tangerine looked at Lemon, frowning deeply. "We need t' find that briefcase," he said.
"Right," Lemon returned, staring at the Son for a moment before he looked up at Tangerine, nodding. "Right. Phone's on me. See if that American you ran into saw anything. Never know, yeah?"
Tangerine narrowed his eyes and glanced over his shoulder, seeing the object of his curiosity. "Hm. Go, Lemon. You see the case, deal with whoever has it."
"All right, how do I do that? Talk to him, or, like, talk to him?"
"I don't know, why don't you tell him about the story about how Gordon met Percy and how Percy's now bleeding from his fucking eye sockets!"
Lemon scoffed and left his side, going down the opposite side of the train.
"He means kill him. Of course he does."
Tangerine took one last look to the boy before he made his way to you, just a few seats down. He saw that you were asleep—surely, if you had been awake, you would've said something, right? Right. He's assuming, anyway. He keeps walking, knowing that he's got to find this briefcase and fast or else he and Lemon may not get a chance to even think about which arm they'd rather have cut off.
About twenty minutes into your restless nap, there's a loud noise blaring in your earbuds, and you jolt awake, grabbing onto your phone. You paused it, heart pounding in your chest.
"Damn," you cursed, knowing it was only from the song and nothing more. This song was notorious for loud noises. You take out your earbuds, a soft groan escaping you. Might as well stretch your legs and use the restroom since you're awake. It didn't seem like sleep was going to come easy on this train.
A voice came over the intercom, saying something about stopping momentarily, but you didn't catch the name of the station.
You stood and stretched, looking towards where the British man had been. He's not there, and neither is his one friend, but the other is there, sleeping. He's got the strangest glasses on, but you say nothing of it.
"Bathroom," you mutter under your breath, looking over your shoulder. You see a sign and follow it, taking your phone with you just in case.
You're quick, doing your business and washing your hands all under two minutes. Must be a record—the airplane bathrooms are so much more different than this.
You go to leave and open the door, and once again, you're not paying attention. You nearly bump into the tall, handsome British man, but this time, he is paying attention.
He grabbed you by the shoulders, a soft huff escaping him. "Watch yourself, love," he said, a playful smile on his lips (like he's not currently in one of the most stressful situations he's ever been in). "You're gonna get yourself hurt, now, aren't ya?"
Wide eyed, you looked up at him. "Shit, I'm sorry," you said. "It's—hell, I can't even give you a good excuse, but I didn't mean to."
"Nah, you're alright, love, just watch yourself for me, yeah?"
He let go of your shoulders, and you almost find yourself missing the touch.
"Go back to your seat, yeah? Keep an eye out for anyone weird for me."
You blinked slowly but nodded anyway. "Yeah, sure," you said. "You—"
But before you can continue, he sees something in the corner of his eye—either that or he hears something. You're not really sure. He flashes you a soft smile before he walked past you, clearly on a mission.
You let out a soft sigh and walk back to your seat, sitting down quietly.
As you get there, the British man's friend is back, and with another man—you don't catch their conversation, but whatever it is is rather heated. You simply put your earbuds back in and let your head fall back, unable to stop your eyes from fluttering shut. There's a few noises, but the sleep is far too good to come out of. At least, for now it is.
At some point, you feel someone shaking you awake. You quickly open your eyes, seeing the British man sitting across from you. He's got a few cuts on his face—not something he had before. You sat up and check your phone, eyebrows furrowed.
"What are you—"
You'd only been asleep for another twenty minutes.
"You're cute, love," he said, grabbing your phone from you.
"Hey—"
He held up a finger to you and quickly typed in a text message to his own phone. When he heard the buzz, he handed your phone back to you.
"Where's your stop, hm?"
"Nagoya," you answered. "Why?"
"Get off sooner, yeah?"
"What?"
He gave you a cheeky smile. "Get off sooner, love," he said. "Conductor must've missed you cuz you were sleepin', but he was sayin' that everyone needs to get off before Nagoya. Somethin' about the train needed worked on."
You blinked slowly. Were you still sleeping? You felt like you were. "Why the hell would they do that for? That don't even make sense—"
"Love, do it," he said, staring you down with those pretty blue eyes. "Get off on the next stop, yeah? I'll even give you the money for another ticket or somethin' if you need it."
You shook your head. "I can get another ticket, I just—"
There was something about the man that screamed danger, but no where did it scream liar. At least if he was a liar, maybe it was for good reason. Your gut feeling had been pretty good in the past, warning you against several things that could've gone terribly. Perhaps this was the Universe screaming at you to listen to it.
"Okay. I got the money. I'll just... I'll get off at the next stop."
He smiled softly at you. "Good. I'll be seein' you then, yeah? Keep yourself outta trouble."
He stood up, giving you a soft wink, before he left you in the quiet car.
You didn't see him again for the rest of the train ride, but you did listen to him. You got off at the next train stop and bought a new ticket, wondering if the cuts on his face had anything to do with his request.
It was a pretty nice warning, as crazy as that shit was.
Waiting for the next train, which would be there only momentarily, you pull out your phone. The only thing he had typed to his number was simple: Tangerine.
Was that codename for something? The fuck did fruit have to do with anything?
Nagoya, Japan.
A beautiful city with equally beautiful architecture (you'd be sure to visit the castle and the shrine after you finished exploring the city on your own terms).
You hadn't gotten a text from the handsome British man, but it didn't really bother you much. You didn't know him—just nearly ran into him a handful of times before he told you to get off the train.
Two days after the train ride to Nagoya, you find yourself on the streets, following your phone's GPS as best as you could to get to the castle. You should have just waved down a taxi cab, but you also wanted to experience the walk. That, in itself, was just as important as the journey over. Besides, your phone said only five minutes, but it seemed like it was re-routing and doing the exact opposite of being an accurate GPS.
You curse under your breath and go to type in another address in an attempt to see if it was just the castle address that was making your GPS wonky when you heard a familiar voice—you felt a familiar hand grab onto your shoulder.
"Be careful, love," the British man said, keeping you in your spot. You looked up—you're not even about to walk into anything, this time. You looked back at him, eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh, hell," you blurted, wide eyed. "What the hell happened to you? Are you—" You pause, mouth gaped open as you look on in surprise. His friend, and that one long haired blonde guy, stand nearby. The one leaned up against the wall of a supermarket, while the other runs a hand through his blonde locks.
You looked up at him, lips parted. "Is that why you told me to get off the train?"
He gave you a pained smile. "Smart, love," he said.
There's a few people that pass by, mumbling about the sight of the rather bloodied and injured men.
"Shit," you said. "You—did you just come to Nagoya in hopes I'd still be here? What if I had been in Kyoto?"
"Guess some luck's on my side, then," he said.
"My—hell, come on, I've got a hotel room," you said. "You lot look like you've been to hell and back."
"Somethin' like that," the British man said.
"Shit," you mumbled once more, putting your hotel name back into your GPS. You had just come from there, but just in case, you didn't want to mess anything up. Especially not now. "Shit, dude, I don't even know your name—"
"Tangerine," he interrupted.
You blinked slowly as you began to walk. His friends follow behind.
"Like the fruit?" you question.
His friend snorted from behind the two of you. "Yeah, love, like the fruit."
You shrugged. "Codename?"
"Smart," Tangerine repeated, giving you a cheeky smile.
For someone who looked like he was in an immense amount of pain, he was sure cheerful.
You led them up to your hotel room, where the blonde immediately goes to the bathroom, running water in the sink and using it and a towel to try and clean some of the blood from his face.
Tangerine and the other, whom you now know as Lemon, sit on separate sides of the room—Lemon sits at the table and groans at the action, a hand on his side, while Tangerine sits on the edge of the bed.
There goes your plans to see the Nagoya Castle, but hell, this didn't seem like it would be anything you'd wanna miss out on. How often do you get three men in your hotel room like this?
Ah, fuck, scratch that—how often do you get a hot British man looking at you like that regardless of how beat up he currently looked?
You bit your lip and sit your phone on the dresser. "I, uh, my friend gave me a little kit of medicine and things before I left," you said, going to your open suitcase and pulling out a black bag. "Has like, bandaids and ibuprofen. Tums, maybe. I didn't even look to be honest."
You hand the bag to him.
Tangerine snorted softly, taking the bag from you and opening it up. You watch, seeing the scabs on his knuckles.
"Damn, what the hell happened to y'all?"
Tangerine glanced up at you, a small smile quirking on his lips. "All in due time," he said. "Don't think it's anything I wanna drag you into just yet."
You pursed your lips.
"Fuck," Tangerine mumbled. "This whole thing has been fuckin' bullocks," he said as he pulled out a couple of things from the kit.
"You can say that again," Lemon said, scoffing softly.
Tangerine tossed him a bottle of pain killers before he, himself, picked up a small bottle of antiseptic. "Be a doll and grab me a washcloth, yeah?"
You do as you're asked, moving past the blonde in the bathroom. He looked a bit worse for wear, but he seemed like he was doing far better than the other two.
You brought back the washcloth for Tangerine. "Can I help?"
"Nah, love, I'll be fine. Not the first time."
You grimaced. "Sounds painful."
"C'est la vie," Lemon said from where he sat, taking the unopened complementary water from the table and using it to take the pain killers. "You're a life saver, love."
"Hmm," you hummed, frowning softly as you looked at Tangerine.
He glanced up at you as he cleaned his knuckles. He had plenty of other places to clean, of course, but the idea of moving from his spot on the bed sounded like hell. His abdomen was screaming at him for just breathing.
"I never got your name," Tangerine softly said.
"Yeah," Lemon interjected. "Been callin' you his little American this whole time. Don't let him lie to you."
Tangerine blanched, glaring over at Lemon, before he looked up at you. "Maybe," he said. "Don't listen to him. He's a little shit-stirrer."
You smiled a bit. He's endearing if not... unconventional in his methods. Whatever that meant. You'd learn soon enough, it seemed.
You gave him your name.
He repeated it, and it was almost like heaven pouring from his lips as he spoke.
God, you'd have a hell of a time trying to explain this back home.
Tangerine snorted softly and finished cleaning up his knuckles—just on the one hand, though. He still had so much to get through.
"Must've made quite an impression if you come to Nagoya just to find me," you blurted, taking the bottle of antiseptic and the cloth from him. He didn't protest. He simply watched as you wet the other side of the cloth and took his hand in your own to clean his knuckles.
"Yeah, well, what can I say? The accent got me."
You blinked slowly, eyes flickering to his. "The accent?"
"Oh, yeah, love," he said. "Ladybug in there is an American, but you? It's like a whole other breed of American. I don't know if I can get enough of it."
Lemon scoffed and tossed the bottle of painkillers to his brother. "Stop flirting and let them clean your hand."
Tangerine rolled his eyes, watching your hands as they moved against his wounds.
"Sorry," you mumbled.
"Sorry? For what?"
"For not having anything to really help you," you said. "I'm sure it woulda helped if I had a first aid kit or somethin'."
He raised an eyebrow. "Think you would've been insane for havin' a first aid kit when you're traveling all alone," he said. "Who woulda thought you'd run into little ol' me?"
"Little ol' you, hm?"
Tangerine's soft smile is unmistakable, but you make no mention of it. You let go of his hand and he examined it, letting out a soft hum. You did well enough, he supposed.
Tangerine let out a soft groan as a pain rippled through his abdomen. He laid back on the bed without another word, a hand resting on his body. This would be a hell of a pain to heal, but he was sure it would happen soon enough.
"Sorry for barging in on you like that, love," Lemon spoke up. He drew your attention away from Tangerine. "Tangerine over there kept quippin' on and on 'bout how he just had to see you again. Thought he was a broken record or some shit with how often he said it."
The handsome man in front of you didn't even object this time. He just went with it.
"Right, yeah, and what were you sayin'? Hope they have a nice hotel room that fits all us, yeah?"
"Absolutely not," he scoffed. "Don't be a prick."
Tangerine rolled his eyes. "Lemon—"
"—anyway," Lemon interjected. "We'll be out of your hair as soon as we possibly can. Don't want to outstay our welcome, and I'm sure you've got plans, hm?"
"Well, yeah, but—"
"—we won't stay long, promise."
"No, I—I mean I do have plans, but you can stay as long as you need to."
Tangerine snorted softly and glanced at you from where he laid on his bed. "You're rather trusting, aren't you?"
You blinked slowly. "Well—"
"—be careful, love," he said, a playful glint in his eyes. "You should really watch yourself, before you get yourself into trouble."
You parted your lips, and the words escaped you before you even thought to stop them: "Think I'm a bit too late for all that."

PREVIOUS / NEXT
29 November 2023
The cheers as the performance ended resonated around Tokyo Dome, the sound could be felt in her core. Y/N couldn’t believe that she was performing at Tokyo Dome in her first year as an official musician. Sure, it wasn’t her own show and she was performing to a group of people who probably couldn’t care less about her but none of that mattered. She was going to perform to thousands of people in one of the most famous arenas of the world. It had been a shock to receive an invite to perform as a guest at the 2023 MAMA Awards. She didn’t know how the organisers found out about her visit to Seoul and the various schedules and promotions Sian had planned for her to promote the album and her OST for My Demon, which would be released in just over a week.
She’d asked Sian to keep a few days of break to catch up on work and allow for her to spend time with Eun Ji and other friends before she travelled to Nagoya for the SEVENTEEN concert. The request was out of the blue but that didn’t stop her from saying yes. Who knew when opportunity would come knocking again? Y/N didn’t want to take the chances so here she was up, warming up to go on stage and perform. She was a surprise performance so her participation hadn’t been announced and she had to fight to keep the secret from Joshua. Y/N had to do her best to not blurt out the truth as they finalised their plans to catch up after the concert. She wished she could see his reaction when she went on stage.
Receiving the signal that it was time, Y/N got ready in position, waiting for the screen doors to open to reveal her. Before she knew it, the 8 minute slot came to an end and Y/N wished she could keep going. Thrill and adrenaline rush filled her to the brim, from head to toe and she thought she could probably float in happiness right now. Taking her mic off and handing everything back to the sound crew, Y/N followed a staff member as they guided her to her seat on the platform. She heard a brief cheer as some of the audience recognised her walking and she gave a smile and wave at the direction the noise came from. LE SSERAFIM was performing on stage as she continued to follow the staff to her seat. She was to be seated on the third row on the right hand side and there was currently no one else sat there. She didn’t recognise the group sat on the first row but she greeted them with a bow as she passed. She cooled herself with the mini battery operated fan that had been handed to her as she watched the performance on stage. As the evening progressed, the LE SSERAFIM members joined her and she exchanged greetings and made small talk with Huh Yunjin, who was surprised to realise that Y/N spoke and understood Korean. The two chatted here and there as they watched the performance. Every now and then, Y/N would scan the artist area to see if she could spot Joshua but couldn’t see him anywhere. She soon realised why when SEVENTEEN was announced as the next performance.
Mind-blowing. Y/N couldn’t put in words how outstanding the team’s performance was. She was buzzing as she realised that she would experience a full evening of their energy and showmanship the following night. She cheered and sang along, on her feet for the entire performance. She forgot about the cameras and the need to be mindful of how many eyes were on her. She focused only on the 12 members on stage and nothing else mattered. She was sure her voice would be weak the next day but she didn’t care as she shouted in excitement as the performance came to an end. Y/N sat back down in her seat with anticipation as the award show moved to its final segment of the evening. Only the big awards were left and she had her fingers crossed that Joshua and his members would receive the Daesang prize that they’ve been aiming towards since 2015. Sitting up straight when she noticed the band returning to the artist area, she tried to see if she could see Joshua. She knew she would have to keep her interactions polite and distant as even the smallest exchange could be misconstrued to something bigger. SEVENTEEN found themselves placed in the two rows in front of Y/N. To her amazement, S.Coups, who had been taking a break from activities to recover from an injury, joined them shortly afterwards to sit right in front of her beside Joshua. She couldn’t control the fangirl in herself as she admired the group of them, particularly the eldest for whom she held a soft spot for. AS if he could sense her eyes on him, he turned around and their eyes met. She smiled at him as if her staring holes in the back of his skull was normal before styling it out by turning to Yunjin and asking a question about her group’s plan for their next comeback.
Time seemed to extend as the night drew to a close but especially as she watched the last award of the night be presented. As soon as she heard the words leave the veteran singer’s lips, Y/N was on her feet clapping for SEVENTEEN. She couldn’t have been prouder of the group. Even though she hadn’t been a fan from the beginning, as a fellow artist and as a lover of music, she could empathise on how much this accolade and recognition would mean to them. Watching the group give their thanks, she was inspired and made a promise to herself to follow through on her own dreams. She wouldn’t let her fear hold her back anymore. The evening drew to a close and all the nominees had moved to the stage to wave to the audience and say goodnight. Y/N had a staff member begin to direct her backstage and as she did so, she caught Joshua’s eyes, who smiled wider at her with a subtle nod. She grinned back and nodded before letting the staff lead her out.
20 minutes later, she was on the move to her hotel. Emma, who had joined Y/N on this particular trip, handed over Y/N’s phone to her after she’d clicked her seat belt in place. Y/N unlocked the phone and worked her way through the unread messages. She sent quick messages to Rachel, Eun Ji and Sian, promising to call them the next day. After shooting a congratulatory message to Joshua, Y/N continued to browse through her personal instagram. Her public profile was managed by Sian’s second assistant, Lily. Emma was currently training Lily as her replacement so she could properly keep up as the momentum didn’t slow down on Y/N’s road to stardom.
They arrived at the hotel without much fanfare and quickly headed up to their rooms. The two parted ways in the corridor, moving to their respective rooms once they’d confirmed on the check out time for the next morning. Y/N took a quick shower before changing into a grey joggers and black t-shirt. She dropped onto the sofa and turned the tv on, the volume low. She was too wired to go to bed straight away and her mind was still running. She flipped through her People Management magazine, flicking through the pages and glancing at the TV once in a while. Whilst engrossed in an article titled ‘HR’s AI Guide’, her Samsung Galaxy S23 began to buzz. She flipped the backwards phone to see that she was receiving a call from Joshie 🦌.
She swiped to answer and put the call on speaker mode.
“Congratulations! You deserve this and more, Josh!”
“Y/N!”
She could hear loud chattering, random shouts and jubilant cheers in the background.
“Thank you, that’s very sweet of you.”
Few more shouts in the background and she heard someone holler Joshua’s name. “I didn’t expect you to call. I thought you’d be in the midst of celebrations. What are you doing on the phone with me?! Go and celebrate with everyone.”
“I am, I am. I just called to give you a telling off for your surprise tonight. Why didn’t you tell me you were performing?” Not waiting for a reply, he rambled on and Y/N realised he really had participated in the celebrations already.
“Anyways, we’re going to thank the fans on the Weverse soon and probably wrap this up since we have a concert tomorrow. I called to say that there’s a band and crew celebration tomorrow night after the concert since we have a day off before the next concert. I’m sorry, I know we’d planned to catch up but I have to-”
“Don’t be silly! Of course you should be at the celebrations! Please don’t worry about it.” She tried to reassure him. It was disappointing that they couldn’t properly catch up but at least she’d get to support him at the concert and Y/N knew Joshua appreciated that.
“No, no. You should join us is what I’m saying! I told the guys already and they all agreed.”
Y/N tried to refuse the invitation, not wanting to overstep and intrude on their private gathering but Joshua wouldn’t take no for an answer.
“I’ve already told our manager to drag you along. He’s sitting in the same section as you and so is Coups actually. You can join them when they head backstage at the end and you can jump in one of our cars to head to the restaurant.”
His pride at his forward thinking was evident in his voice. Before Y/N could suggest otherwise, he signed off and ended the call. The background noise during the entire call had been chaotic and she couldn’t make out proper conversations though she did hear a low voice asking Joshua who he was speaking to. Not even ten minutes later, her phone blinked to say SEVENTEEN was live on Weverse. She clicked to watch and moved to the bed, turning the TV off on her way. She watched the short session, amused at their state. When the live ended, she set her alarm for the next morning and waited for sleep to claim for her.
By 10am the next morning, she was back in the black car, a long drive to Nagoya in motion. She’d contemplated taking the train from Tokyo but Emma had vetoed that plan, saying there were too many unpredictable factors for her to do so. Even if it took longer, a car allowed them to be in control. The show didn’t start till 6pm and Joshua had said to arrive around 5.30pm. He’d told her to text him and his manager would come and collect her and take her to her seat. She had plenty of time to arrive at the hotel in Nagoya, get some work done before needing to freshen up and get going. They took a break halfway through the journey and picked some lunch from a konbini. Y/N was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was - the cold food at the corner shops, heck even in an M&S didn’t taste this good!
They’d made it safely to the hotel though they’d experienced some traffic so Y/N decided to take a shower and get ready first. She’d debated what to wear for a long time before deciding on a simple v-neck black dress with a light blue denim cropped jacket and her trusted pair of New Balance trainers. She’d put on a layer of makeup and a pair of silver hoop earrings and she was sorted.
She spent the next hour working through her inbox, responding to quick questions and confirming when she’ll go back to the more complicated ones. Seeing her online, she received a call from her work manager, who briefly updated on things she’d missed and had said that he'd like to have a meeting with her when she’s back in London. She’d agreed and said she’d put something in the diary, whilst all the possible reasons for it ran through her head. Knowing that continuing to think about this would just make her worry more, she shook her head as if shaking the thoughts out of her head before turning the laptop off and packing it away securely. She grabbed her mini Cath Kidston Tinker Bell backpack that housed her room card, some cash, her ID, bank cards and portable charger and wire as well as the congratulatory card she’d gotten for Joshua. Doing a quick check around the room, she noticed her phone still lying on the bed side table, plugged in. Happy that it had gotten back to 89%, she unplugged the phone and left the hotel room. She locked the door behind and sent off a text to Emma confirming she’s leaving as well as one to the driver and to Joshua as she made her way to the hotel lobby. She got an instant thumbs up from Emma, which made her laugh.
On the way to the arena, the butterflies had returned and this time they were here in excitement and anticipation. Y/N couldn’t wait to get there and she couldn’t wait for the concert to start. She knew undoubtedly that it would be a night to remember for life. Arriving quickly despite the crowds of fans travelling in the same direction, Y/N sent off another text to Joshua that she’d arrived. She told the driver in Japanese that she would hail a taxi or book one via Uber so he shouldn’t wait up and should go to bed. He tried to refuse but she was adamant and said she needs him well rested to take her back to Tokyo tomorrow evening. He laughed in disbelief before agreeing with her but not before getting her to promise that she would call if she didn’t have any luck with booking one through an app. In agreement, Y/N stepped out of the car and moved to the entrance whilst checking the LINE app for some sort of reply. The clock kept ticking and she was starting to panic that perhaps Joshua was too busy and hadn’t seen the message. Soon it was 5.45pm and she still didn’t hear from Joshua and his manager was nowhere to be found. Unlocking the phone, she decided to call Joshua and if she had no luck, well she’d just have to go back to her hotel room and cry her eyes out. Just as she was about to tap the button to call, someone called out her name, making her jump in shock.
“Y/N nim? I’m Joshua’s manager. I’m here to take you to your seat.”
Y/N’s heart that had jumped out of shock started to return to its normal pace of padam padam. She greeted the manager with a bow and thanked him for collecting her.
“It’s no problem. I’m just waiting to collect someone else and then we’ll head in together.”
Y/N wondered if there was another family member or friend visiting as well. They had been waiting for a few more minutes when a black van pulled up to the entrance and a man in black clothes and a black mask got out. She immediately recognised the figure as the leader of the band. She’d forgotten that Joshua said he would stay behind to watch the concert and attend the celebrations that night. She felt happy to see him healthy and walking on his own, knowing it must have been a painful journey and tremendous efforts on his part to recover as well as he had. He slowly walked to where Y/N and the manager stood, looking at her in question before looking back at the manager.
“Ah, Seungcheol, you’re here. Good, good. It’s not that long before the concert starts, let’s head in.”
Not knowing that Y/N understood and spoke Korean, S.Coups asked the manager about who she was and why the manager was collecting her. The manager explained that it was Y/N and that Joshua had asked for a favour. S.Coups didn’t recognise her even after hearing her name, she could tell. It made her blush and Y/N ducked her head quickly when she noticed S.Coups looking back at her. She would just have to work harder to be recognised by her name as an artist. They arrived at their seats just as the lights began to fade. Her seat was next to S.Coups which made her question her luck. She knew she had no control so she would be singing along and enjoying the concert so there goes her attempt to impress him. She’d already been a weirdo and had kept staring at him last night and now she would be squealing next to him all night. She didn’t have a chance to stew on it as the intro for Super began to surround the stadium and chills covered her body. She was fully immersed in the production before her.

Yu Got A Fast Car
My cousin showed me around Nagoya City and Yokkaichi City in his Toyota GR86... It was my first time traveling in a sports car and it was amazing! We were going from place to place very fast. It was hard for a fat guy like me to get on and off it because it was so low, but amazing experience nonetheless. Haha!

“See You There” Concert Experience
2024.11.24 @ Port Messe in Nagoya
okay so firstly: i genuinely dont have any pictures or videos; guidelines were VERY strict to not do that and i didn’t want to play with fire even though I technically saw one person sneak at least one photo lmfao
except for this:
: )
+ map of the venue the “x” is approx. where i was sitting - i was an aisle seat; seventh row back from the front right-side; the black line in the middle represents the center stage runway thing
(it was assigned seating - I had no clue where I sitting until receiving the ticket from staff - and I have no idea how/when the seating is decided)
also idk if it really needs to be said but im not gonna do like a song play-by-play or write this in any sort of actual organized fashion
also I’ll probably need to make more of these because of flaky memory and horrendously long and yadda yadda yadda im v sorry lol
(i don’t wanna draft these too long and beautify/nitpick them too much so all spelling/grammar issues don’t exist and if you notice them fixed.. they were always like that 😇)
okay with thaaaat out of the way~
I can’t describe the feeling seeing him when he got out on stage like…..he just looked unreal
like not just drop dead beautiful but like a feeling of “holy fuck this dude actually exists” lmfao 😭
it’s just very bewildering after watching so many things with him behind a camera to now being within your own personal presence
I really don’t have an ego or whatever and even the times where im like “d-did he just look at me there?” it kind of feels like a joke but….i like to pretend that he did at least at some point (to which I immediately deny and it and pretty much say “no … lol~ 🤭”)
there are two..three moments that really make me wonder tho like genuinely/actually/not me being big headed lmao
smap songs were “One Chance” which is a solo so really only half-smap 😔; “ダイナマイト”; and “KANSHA して”
he did two (I’m pretty sure it was two lmao 😭) rounds going on the trolley thingie for a few songs to go around the perimeter, and he swung one of his legs over the cage and just let it dangle to show how bendy he still is at least twice
Both rounds included the smap songs (One Chance on the first, other two were back-to-back on the second) which kind of felt really special??? Like……it just made me remember the smap cons that I’ve watched (and tsuyoshi perpetually getting himself into precarious situations on the stupid things 😭 [i knowwww 😒 {affectionate/lighthearted}])
something that will probably live in my head rent-free (that I HOPE he does in the actual filmed con footage not only for everyone to SEE it but because I already can’t accurately visualize it 😭) is that in Crazy Party when he says “sexy” he made THE MOST absurd and hysterical expression like making himself bug-eyed and just a very not calm/cool/demure face that matches his voice (omfg that voice…..wakes up sorry)
He made himself cross-eyed three times at the very least - probably more tho
I really tried to look AT him as much as possible but there were moments where I really just COULD NOT see him or it was just…more incentivizing? to look at the front display..
(ie when he would pop his fucking jacket open and just….expose arm (we love arm) which he did WAY TOO MANY FUCKING TIMES)
..but I did stare at his back quite a bit 😗
His outfit around when he did “No Night, No Starlight” was my ultimate fave which absolutely shouldn’t be surprising and I think it’ll be everyone’s too
which is why I won’t spoil what it looks like (it’s PEAK peak tho im virtually pinkie-promising all of you)
After NoLiNoStar, he did an MC where I think (mostly going off of his mannerisms and understanding v select words so 🙃) he talks about the difficulty of the choreo for this song and like….idk probably that he’s getting too old for this shit
personally I think he should have done a backflip and he probably CAN still do one but hey! that’s just me…… 😔
sorry to spoil but yeah there is no backflip revival I know it was on all (my) of our (my) mind 😔😔
okay there’s def going to be a part 2 but I’ll write more later waaaaah byeeeee 😭😭😭
#ramblin but not a gamblin man#see you there 2024#see you there#why not ill actually tag him…#kimura takuya#takuya kimura#木村拓哉

——————————————————————————
Something that I find disturbing about Aoi more than how she treats her sister is how fucked up her moral compass is. She seems to have this grand delusion of justice and that anything bad that happens to Kureto or her is unjust and unfair. She deceived the soldiers to kill them in Nagoya, and yet somehow she is the one that feels betrayed because they survived. She shames Mitsuba for betraying her duty as a Sangū because of her love for Yuu, when she herself admitted in Cat16 that the reason she follows Kureto is not out of duty but out of the love she has for him. She survived her treason but will punish Mitsuba for essentially doing the same thing she did. It feels like as if she has 0 introspection and that’s what makes her so scary because there is no way to reason with her. In a sense, she does not only have twisted views about justice but also about love. She is putting her crush’s on a God’s pedestal, throws away any kind of dignity and self-preserverance for him, will kill and experiment for him, deems anyone who is not him unworthy of her time and showing her emotions, and believes that sex manipulated her sister’s decisions.
If she wasn’t just a minor character I believe she would make a great antagonist (or villain more precisely). I mean, have you even see this cursed panel?

Okay, so, here is my PriMagi debut story!!
I arrived at Prism Stone Tokyo more or less straight off the plane, a full day of travel and less than three hours sleep, a complete disaster lugging a big suitcase behind me. It was literally my first stop when I got off the train from Narita (well, after the conbini for a pizza bun).
Upon seeing someone on the PriMagi machine, I decided to get in line for PriPara instead. I hoped the PriMagi machine might be free by the time I was done and I was right! Yes! I really didn't want anyone lined up behind me while I was fumbling through it.
.........
As soon as I put the coins in a new person immediately lined up behind me (godammit).
It was basically an exact repeat of what happened to me during my PriPara debut!!! (Someone breathing down my neck as I clearly have noooo idea what I am doing. I mean... Took almost the full countdown to realize ITS A F*ING TOUCH SCREEN. Uuughgh.)
Also, first version Luna has pink highlights (as seen in the video) because I didn't know how to change it then.
Still, although embarrassing (I didn't even know how to scan the cards....) I guess it was kinda cool to debut at Tokyo Station Prism Stone! (Also reminiscent of my PriChan debut, which was at Prism Stone Nagoya.)
So after this, I checked into my hotel, showered and all that, and went out to find an arcade with more machines so I could work things out. And I did! A Taito station with like six or eight machines AND a recorder!!?! So I sat down, put in my money and realized.... I left my profile card back at the hotel....
So, I decided I would just play one game with Auru and then move on. But then this came out of the machine.
Naturally I wanted my character to wear it immediately.
I thought about just making another one but... in the end, I decided no. NO. You are not abandonding initial PriMagi Luna! She debuted at Tokyo Station Prism Stone!
So, I went all the way back to the hotel, all the way back to the arcade, fixed my highlights, learned how to scan cards...
And slowly began to work out the other mechanics of the game.
I also learned that this game gives out URs like candy haha ha... (maybe because it's ending?)
So, first impressions.
I definitely don't like that it costs 200 yen. (All the previous games cost 100.)
But, after playing it's kinda understandable?
I mean just LOOK at these cards. These are actual printed cards from the machine!? How does that work. It's like... ma... magic... (you got me there).
PriMagi also feels like a more umm immersive experience than the previous games? It's LONG. There are a lot of scenes you can skip past, but if you actually watch all of them I feel like it takes at least twice as long as an average game of PriPara.
The rhythm game is kinda random and doesn't flow nearly as well as the previous games. Touch this, now touch that, now touch this. Also, I keep forgetting to select the harder difficulty and the easier one is super boring. Also, I can't figure out the PriMagi equivalent of Cyalume Change (like I mean the button mashing)... my PriPara/PriChan technique hurts my knuckles on the diamond buttons, and my Idol Land technique on the screen is no good either.
And shopping for coords right in the middle of the song? Yeah. HATE IT. I can't imagine ever getting used to that. Even my friend who knows nothing about Pretty Series who was watching over my shoulder was like WTF it's forcing you to pay more? And I was like..... not exactly forcing me...... but............
But.
But the colors, the sounds, the characters. It's all very intoxicating and just designed to draw you in... for some reason 100 yen coins just keep falling out of my pockets... and into this game....

Is Guren a narcissist?
Lately I dislike Kagami's portrayal of Guren as much as the next person and tbh there's absolutely no way you can make me think he's an innocent victim or a tragic hero we should root for (though I still do root for him cause he's just pathetic and gay I love him). However, the amount of times i've seen both the hispanic and english fandom call him a narcissist is kinda surprising 👀 Now the question is...
So since I'm petty and I like analysing useless stuff, let's take a look at Guren's behavior and at what makes a narcissist to try to give a more elaborate answer. I'll give as a disclaimer that I don't intend to attack anyone or force anyone to like Guren with this post, I'm just a psychology student currently investigating personality disorders and I thought this take would be fun to share.
Also, english is not my main language so do feel free to point out if you see I make any mistake so I can correct it, please ;u;
So for starts, if we're talking about the reasons for why people use to call him a narcissist I believe that pointing out his behavior towards Yuu is a very fair argument, especially his behavior towards Yuu at the beginning of the manga. Guren expresses himself with superiority, these airs and graces and apparent laziness and lack of thoughtfulness. However I believe that if you know how the story in the light novels go and even more if you've read them, you'll realize that all this "I'm your saviour, your god, you owe me your life, blah, blah, blah" crap that Guren tells to Yuu is a way of imposing authority and exerting some kind of control over him.
Guren needed to exert this control and authority as a way to protect himself, his subordinates and his investigations from the JIDA higher-ups, but also to keep Yuu at bay, not only because he was a part of Guren's experiments but also because Yuu used to be a very asocial and volatile kid when Guren took him under his wing. Having an angry kid acting impulsively at his leisure all around the JIDA was not convenient for Guren or for anyone, honestly.
And yes, I'm not gonna deny that Guren is kind of a jerk, but that has more to do with his personality and his sense of humor than with being a narcissist. He's sarcastic, super hard-headed, quite blunt and may come off as conceited, but he's actually extremely aware of all of his mistakes and shortcomings. He recognizes that he is not the smartest or the strongest out there, he knows how powerless he is in the grand scheme of things and most importantly, he recognizes his mistakes and is absolutely willing to take his share of the blame for it.
Sure, he knows that he is a strong individual but that's because he's worked towards the objective of "being strong" his entire life, he's cultivated perseverance and done sacrifices in order to achieve that strength, and while he does like to show off sometimes, recognizing one's merits and being aware of your capacities is hardly the same as having delusions of grandeur. Plus, his motivations are very much oriented to help others, protect others; and although Guren used to have a very strong sense of self-preservation, after the catastrophe he decides to let go of it if it means that it will help him to achieve those goals of keeping his loved ones safe. He starts doing what he 'has' to do rather than whe he wants to do.
After Nagoya's Arc, the shameless and overbearing side of Guren's behavior gets toned down. He becomes more serious, he doesn't play and makes jokes as often and he also stops trying to impose himself to Yuu in the same way as before. There's no need of that superiority facade anymore after all the things that came to light and now that the JIDA poses less of a threat and that Yuu has become less of a subordinate and more of a collaborator, exerting the same authority as before is just not necessary.
And now that we're referring to Yuu, we also gotta point out that a narcissist lacks empathy and doesn't go out of his way to try to help or benefit other people, but Guren does feel affection towards Yuu. When Yuu came to him as a child full of rage, resentment, guilt and lust for revenge, Guren genuinely empathized with him, he took care of Yuu, tried to teach him what he knew and he pushed him to build a support network with his classmates when he didn't really had to do all that. He could've simply taken advantage of Yuu's grief and solitude to control everything about him and force him to collaborate, but he didn't. Even when doing that would've been the best and most practical option for Guren's purposes, he still decided against isolating Yuu. Plus a narcissist wouldn't be capable of the affection and compassion that Guren feels for Yuu. And it is also made clear that Guren does not enjoy using Yuu or hurting him, but Shinya and his squad are Guren's priority, putting his options in a balance, he knows that he has no choice but to keep using Yuu to make his plan work. And it IS selfish and cruel and abusive, we're not going to deny that, but arguing that he doesn't care about Yuu or anyone else but himself is a pretty reductionist (and tbh also incorrect) statement.
Now, let's take a look at Shinya's opinion about Guren, taking into account that Shinya is probably the person who knows Guren the best out of all of the Catastrophe at 16 cast and probably all of OnS.
First of all we have this scene during the Nagoya Arc in which Shinya shows concern about Guren cause he knows that Guren suffers when people die and that he's not good at handling that.
Guren cares about his subordinates, he is saddened by the death of his soldiers and during this arc, he even makes the rather emotional choice of going straight into a trap in order to save other soldiers that Crowley is holding as hostages, even when Mito and Shinya warn him that they shouldn't do it cause it is clearly a trap.
I know there's a lot of material that I'm not covering, but for the sake of not making this post longer than it already is, let's go ahead and just check some of the behavioural criteria that a person has to meet to be diagnosed/classified as a Narcissist; of course, taking into consideration that meeting one or two criteria isn't enough cause it is very likely that everyone will present some of these criteria some times throughout our lives. For a person to be considered a narcissist they must meet various criteria which manifest constantly in various different contexts of their life for most of the time. Some of the criteria include:
•A grandiose sense of self-importance, being it fantasies or behaviors and the expectation to be recognized as superior without real reasons.
In Guren's case, he's not really the type that brags about his deeds or that goes about life expecting people to praise him, specially when there's no reason. The only times one could say that he sort of acts this way is in his interactions with Yuu in the early chapters.
•A narcissist is very often preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love.
Although Guren, does desire power and recognition, he is aware of all he's lacking and beats himself up because of all these things that he knows he isn't good enough to achieve. We can also notice that ultimately, his desire for power originates from his desire to keep his loved ones safe.
•A narcissist believes that they are “special” and unique and they only want to associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions).
In Guren's case, he knows that he kinda sucks. A lot of the people around him belong to a higher status, have a higher military position or are better than him in one way or the other. What Guren does is working towards his betterment. He doesn't believe he's special, in the novels, he even seems to be a bit ashamed about the subordinates in the Ichinose manor thinking that he is a prodigy. We also have that although it is obvious that Guren regards his squad as the most important people to him, and is willing to commit atrocities and become very self-sacrificial for them it is not because 'they are the best' or because they have a high status that Guren's ego can feed on, but just because he loves them.
•A narcissist has an excessive need for admiration
Guren is indeed an admired character, however he doesn't "need" to be admired. Even before the apocalypse, the motive behind his goal was not to be admired but bring respect and dignity to his beaten up clan. He's had plenty of chances to show off, but he just doesn't really needs to be admired for that.
•A narcissist exploits their interpersonal relationships for their own benefit.
This point is a bit tricky cause Guren is undeniably using Yuu and he had the same intentions with Kimizuki and Yoichi to achieve his goals. However, besides from knowing that Guren would not be doing this if there was another way, when we take a look at the rest of his interpersonal relationships, specially with his squad, being exploitative of their relationship for his own benefit is just not there.
Some other criteria include an excessive sense of entitlement, a lack of empathy, constant envy and the belief that others are envious of them, and haughty behaviors, all of which we already tackled before.
So, taking everything in consideration, we come to the conclusion that although Guren has displayed some narcissistic attitudes, overall he does not fit the profile, therefore, Guren is not a narcissist.
This of course doesn't mean that we have to condone all the bad things he's done, but rather may help us gain a bit more insight into Guren's character. Exploring his relationship's dynamics, and other mental health conditions which's profiles he may fit would be fun as well. He is indeed a very flawed character, and maybe that's what makes him interesting.

heehoon on my mind 24/7 man like WHAT A DUO
this is heedehoon just before triple n. so this is triple n part 2/4 (part one being the sfw one) and they are in nagoya. they have a concert the next day
contains: dirty talk, slight roughness, slight degradation (?) not extreme though, talks of anal
masterlist
"Can't believe I'm not going to have this fucking pussy for a whole month," Heeseung mumbled against Della's clit. "3N is fucking dumb."
"Shit!" Della moaned out loud at the vibrations and breaths.
Della was sitting on the hotel's sofa while Heeseung's head was between her legs and Sunghoon was standing beside the armrest.
"You actually think you can give this up for thirty days?" Sunghoon helped his hyung out by joining in on the dirty talk. "You usually fuck four men on a daily basis. Can you really handle that?" he held Della's chin in place so she could look at him.
"Mmm!" was all she could answer while her hands frantically went to unbutton Sunghoon's pants.
"Still too stubborn to surrender, huh?" Sunghoon took his other hand to pull her hair back. "You better suck me good tonight, darling."
"You better fuck us fucking good," Heeseung pulled away and stuck two fingers in her hole. "'Gon make sure this pussy remembers how we fucking feel."
"Not just her pussy tonight, hyung," Sunghoon smirked at Heeseung.
The older understood immediately, and his wide eyes turned to Della.
"Again?" the two watched as all Della could do was whine and moan. "Fucking answer me," Heeseung stopped and grabbed her chin.
"Sunghoon brought lube and condoms," and that's when a huge grin grew on both men's faces.
"Interesting. Good luck on the concert tomorrow."
p.s.: no they were not talking about/gonna do double penetration. della's first experience of that will come later 😁

Embracing Solo Travel (again)
I’ve done it—I’ve booked three solo international flights for the next six months. I’ll be landing in Taipei this December, exploring Nagoya in March, and discovering Sapa in April. It’s been a long time since I’ve traveled alone, and I can’t help but feel a swirl of emotions as I prepare for these adventures.
The last time I traveled abroad was last December when I went to Australia. That trip was amazing, but it was different. I wasn’t alone, and now, as I pack my bags again, there’s a sense of nostalgia mixed with excitement for what’s ahead. 💯
Truth be told, these are experiences I once dreamed of sharing with you—the person I once loved. I imagined us wandering the vibrant streets of Taipei, marveling at the cherry blossoms in Nagoya, and soaking in the breathtaking landscapes of Sapa. I always thought that if I could be by your side, even if the reason for your smile wasn’t me, my heart would be content just knowing you were happy.
But life has a way of changing our plans 'no? 'Cause you’re now in a relationship with someone else. It’s a reality that I’ve had to come to terms with, even though it wasn’t the story I had envisioned for us. And so, here I am, setting off on these journeys alone, learning to find peace and happiness in my own company.
As I step into this new chapter, I’m reminding myself that this is my time to reconnect with who I am. It’s about rediscovering the joy of solo travel, finding new experiences, and opening my heart to whatever comes next.
So, here’s to Taipei, Nagoya, and Sapa—to the places I once dreamed of exploring with you, and to the unexpected adventures I’m now embracing on my own. It’s not the path I thought I’d be on, but maybe, just maybe, it’s the one I was meant to take all along.

Nagoya — Day 5 (and 6)
I wanted to wait until I have enough time to speak about our time in Nagoya, as this was a brief, but for me a very special stop.
About 2.5 years ago I met two very fantastic Japanese women over HelloTalk, an app to meet people as language exchange partners. One of these women currently lives in Germany with her husband but will return to Japan next year. The other one lives in Nagoya and we met the first time when I was in Japan in March last year. She came to Kyoto to spend the day with us, and this time she invited me and my cousin to stay one night at her home with her and her family. I felt so very honoured we were allowed to visit her and she really put so much thought into this!
Together with her I also met another Japanese friend I got to know because of said friend from Nagoya. She’s an English teacher and brought one of her English classes with my Japanese class together so we come together once a month in a Zoom meeting and have a cultural exchange.
So, those two very kind women picked us up at the subway station, we dropped our stuff at her home, met her husband, and then made our way to Nagoya Castle as we wished to make some sightseeing together. On our way we stopped at a udon restaurant and had lunch together.
Nagoya Castle is very beautiful and it was such a big inspiration for me for my upcoming writing I want to explore further later on. I was so grateful to experience this together with Japanese people.
In the evening they all prepared several dishes for us and we sat together, chatting and eating, very Japanese like at a narrow table. If you have ever wondered how Japanese people can sit so long kneeling down like me—they can’t. 🤣 My friend told me that occasions like a funeral where you actually have to sit in one place on your knees for so long are horrible. Your legs will go numb and they also have problems to get up then. Somehow this really was a relief for me. 😄
As my cousin’s birthday was coming up about a week later but we wouldn’t see each other then, we celebrated her birthday together beforehand. My friend was so kind to order one of those birthday cakes and it was so good! And then they even had presents for both of us. Japanese people use name stamps to sign, at work, when they receive packages, for everything. So they gave us stamps with our names, written in katakana and I was overwhelmed they actually had them made for us! 🥺
And they even rented futon for us to sleep on. This was a new experience for me (I already thought we would have those in Hakone, but we didn’t), and I have to say, this is something I have to get used to. 😅 I have some back problems, so literally sleeping on the floor can be hard.
Anyway, for breakfast my friend prepared onigiri (rice balls) and then gave us a short introduction on of what was coming up as we had a calligraphy lesson with her daughter. And this really wasn’t easy at all! We wrote a very easy kanji, 木. This means tree. But when writing it in calligraphy, it’s not easy at all. 😂 I learned about myself that I’m a very impatient person. You really have to take your time in writing those signs, fully concentrated, and kind of have to relax. And then here I am, always full of thoughts, hasty, and way too much of a perfectionist. But it showed me that I really have to calm down, and it also was a lot of fun. We were also allowed to write our names in katakana. That was also not that easy.
Then it was already time for us to leave. I’m so grateful for that one day I could spend with my friend and I really hope to meet her again!
Now for my inspiration for the upcoming chapters of “Embrace of Brightness”, as well and especially for “Eclipse”.
Next to Nagoya Castle was the rebuilding of a residence to show how the Shogun lived when he visited Nagoya. We were allowed to take pictures there and damn, that was a lot of gold to show off. 😄
(In Kyoto we visited Nijo Castle. It also had those golden rooms, but as most of those were still originals, we were not allowed to take pictures there.)
It really gives me an idea on how the Shogun lived in Japan. I later learned more about this, but this I will explore when I speak about Kyoto. There were several private rooms and rooms for official occasion where he held audiences. And especially this I wanted to point out.
This was the place the Shogun was seated at those audiences. He was placed higher than all the other court members. Do you see this dome shaped ceiling? He was sitting under it to emphasize his status. And now imagine Ryuu sitting exactly there. I really love the idea of it!
I will definitely have a lot of images now I can use for my descriptions. Thank you to my friend for taking me to this place!

Do you have a travel blog/page on instagram documenting your travels in Japan, where we can see your experience, specially that you go to lots of concerts, and it might be helpful to plan a full travel around that? What do you do other than seeing the concerts, and do you have a list of cool trusted places?
I have a personal Instagram account on which I share local and travel highlights irregularly, but I don't even specify where most of those things were, so good luck using that to guide your trip...
That being said, if you want any tips for some locations, I can help with anything other than restaurants, so feel free to ask!
So far, I visited the following Japanese areas:
Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Itsukushima, Kouchi, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Nagoya, Shizuoka, Tokyo/Kawasaki/Yokohama, Yokosuka, Kanazawa, Nagano, Sendai and Sapporo.
Had/have plans for Tottori, Wakayama, Utsunomiya, Hita and more. I guess that the main area that I never visited where Dir en grey tours is Niigata.

The Shiki Cats Post TM
28.05.23 Show
I had the chance to see Cats in Nagoya last month and I still can´t believe it! I was also able to meet an internet friend who also loves the show and it was overall such a nice experience <3
Some pics are blurry but I was shaking haha, shiki was one of my most wanted to see shows, the photos I had seen were always so colorful and looked like so much fun! It did not dissapoint, tough it was very different to the 98 movie (the version I'm the most familiar with) and the past Intl. Tour (The only other version I've seen live) so I was furiously writting notes on things that stood out to me soon after the show.
• Tantomile (she looks like Cassandra) is the first cat you see on stage.
• They do the trapeze bit for jellicle songs for jellicle cats!!!!
• Munk was 😳😳😳 very good voice, super cute with the babies.
• They have both Syllabub and Jemima, Silly is the kitten, the one that helps Griz out, Jemima is a young adult cat.
• The gumbie trio were Tantomile, Jellylorum and Jemima.
• The beetles had wings they could move around as part of the choreo.
• Tugger has one yellow, spotted leg and it makes him look like he's wearing those pants with only one leg??? Very slutty, we love that for him.
• Munk sings the terrible bore line.
• Jellylorum sings the curious beast line.
• Grizabella still has the old cat design, we love to see it.
• Jerrie and Teazer don't do the cartwheels 💔💔💔💔💔
• Teazer is the cutest thing ever though, she was so fun!! I couldn't stop looking at her the whole time, she's already one of my faves but she is PERFECT in shiki.
• There was a little bit where Teazer and Tanto were cuddling behind Old Deut and Teazer kept pawing at her for attention and I melted.
• Pekes and Pollicles is still Munk's number through and thorough. The dog costumes were very cute and there were many different versions and "materials".
• The Rumpus Cat suit has muscle padding?????
• Shiki said Bombastrap rights and I owe them my life. You could see them cuddling on the bg at various points through the show.
• Pass de deux is performed by Tumblebrutus and Cassandra. (Cori and Tanto designs).
• No orgy???? They do dance in pairs but there's no """cuddle""" pile.
• Overall less horny and more playful.
• Tuxedo Mask Macavity my beloved!!!!! I think that's a very fun design for Mac asldjclsjfjskd but the threatening factor is negative, he just looks very fluffy and cute.
• Mac's fur texture and length is very similar to Old Deut's so that's nice!! Loving the family resemblance.
• They do Growltiger!!! I loved seeing the boys in their little pirate costumes 🥺💖🥺💖🥺
• They choreographed the sword fight so the clanks would match the music and it was SO COOL.
• Jelly had such a nice voice.
• SKIMBLESHANKS THE RAILWAY CAT THE CAT OF THE RAILWAY TRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Skimble has a little hat and my friend was telling me they change it for every city to match the uniform of the train conductors in that city. HOW CUTE IS THAT!!!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺
• The girls are the passengers while the boys are the seats during the play pretend bit asdfkgjslnf
• The fake train has a window so you can see Munk is playing the conductor 🥺🥺🥺
• They also used a teapot as the chimney and it makes teapot sounds, I just loved everything about this number okay!!!!!
• The Macavity fight is a little weird because he doesn't take Munk 1v1 but rather is everyone against Mac from the beginning.
• I really wanted to see this specific Munk fight because of... reasons, so that's a bummer 😞
• Demeter has a deeper voice than what I usually hear for her, I really liked it.
• They let toms join the Macavity number!!!!!!! I was tunnel visioning into Munk but I'm pretty sure Alonzo and Tumble were there too.
• Misto comes down the rope!!!!!!!
• He does a lot more magic tricks, including making things and other cats fly.
• You can hear thunder crackling when he manipulates light, that was a very cool detail.
• Misto and Tugger have a lot of shared choreography, they do several different BFF handshakes 🥺
• Victoria is Misto's assistant for the big trick.
• Sillabub is the one who touches Grizabella first.
• UFO Griz
• They did this very cute thing after final bows where they kept coming to the stage as long as people were still clapping. They went and came back to the stage again at least 7 times until the theater turned up the lights 😹

Sega Saturn - Akumajo Dracula X ~Gekka no Yasoukyoku~ (Nocturne in the Moonlight / Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)
Developer: Akumajo Dracula X ~Gekka no Yasoukyoku~ / 悪魔城ドラキュラX ~月下の夜想曲~
Developer: Konami Computer Entertainment Nagoya / Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo
Release date: 25 June 1998
Catalogue No.: T-9527G
Genre: Action
Possibly the best Castlevania game ever created by Konami hits the Saturn and PlayStation. Konami has always been known to give Sega the cold shoulder so this game coming to the Saturn is a miracle in itself and we should be grateful, or should we? The problem is that Konami gave one of their less talented studios, Konami Nagoya the task of porting the PlayStation original to the Saturn. Think of it as a "we couldn't really give a crap" attitude while the PlayStation version was made by Konami's head Castlevania team at Konami Tokyo. As a result, the Saturn port suffers from extensive slowdown, improperly scaled graphics, and increased load times.
Thankfully Konami Nagoya had a soft spot for the Saturn and included two extra areas that weren't in the PlayStation version. Also, as an added bonus they gave Saturn owners a sound test to listen to all those classic Castlevania tunes. Unfortunately, being a less talented team than the original programmers, Konami Nagoya didn't bother adding transparencies to the Saturn version. We all know that it can be done as games such as Silhouette Mirage, Burning Rangers, D-Xhird and even the very early Astal have all proven. The Saturn game also suffers from chronic slowdown which is a disgrace considering the 2D capabilities of the machine.
In this outing of the Castlevania series, you can choose from 3 different characters: Alucard, Maria, and Richter, who all have special abilities. Unlike the original Castlevania games, this one mixes light RPG elements and potion-making into the game. While this may seem a bit of a chore at first it does add greatly to the gaming experience. Levels are long and varied although you will have to travel through quite a few of them repeatedly as you find yourself getting lost. So, remember to keep an eye on the map.
Akumajo Dracula X will be keeping you entertained for many months.
