More dinluke, codywan time travel fic stuff
So, if you’ve read the fic so far, Din and Wolffe are vode. Plo took one look at Din and was like I’m adopting him lol
So basically, I’m just imagining how’d the two would interact in other things outside of the story
Like dealing with droids? They’re gleeful and bashing the shit out of them, they’re two feral dogs going to town on a piece of meat. You don’t wanna mess with them. They’re on a mission.
What’s the mission? Only they know.
Broken caf machine? Din’s trying to fix it (miserably failing) while Wolffe curses his own existence and spirals so deeply down the Mando’a curse word pipeline that he doesn’t remember Basic
Wolffe meets Grogu? Din’s a proud father while Wolffe can’t get over the fact it’s a tiny baby Yoda that’s actually really cute. He’s astounded and calls Grogu “little warrior”, probably tries to see if the eating-frogs thing is true or not
Wolffe totally would sick the Wolfpack on Din at any given notice. Just be like “here, baby sit these fools for me” or be like “this shiny needs brotherly attention, I’m busy, please give it to them”. Din would be okay with it, maybe a little annoyed, but he’s going to go full Mandalorian and teach them their “heritage” as best he can.
If they’re able to comm each other, it’s just insults back and forth with the occasional short conversation. Like:
Wolffe: sha’buir
Din: di’kut
Wolffe: Cody said you need to go to the bridge
Din: he can tell me himself
Wolffe: osi’kovid
Din: Cody told me that he wants you to know that he’s going to eat your socks
Wolffe: what? He did not
Din: you can’t prove he didn’t
Wolffe: sha’buir
Cody is so done with the two of them because Wolffe just boasts about Din in the command group chat and is about to throw them both out a window or something
Luke’s all for it, he wants his husband to have more friends that don’t actually wanna beat the shit out of him at any given moment
Anyways, link to the fic:

Fic Writer 20 Questions
I was tagged by @texasdreamer01 😊
1.) How many works do you have on ao3
9, though some of them are only visible if you're logged in.
2.) What's your ao3 word count?
64,757, not a lot but there's nothing wrong with that.
3.) What fandoms do you write for?
Star wars, lots of Star Wars. I think I wrote for Yuri!!! On Ice before? I used to write for Marvel, I did a little bit of Phantom of the Opera (very little), I have some unpublished Avatar the Last Airbender fics, and I am currently writing for Our Flag Means Death 🤭 I hope around depending on what I feel/am hyperfixating on, but ultimately it always comes back to Star Wars.
4.) What are your top five pics by kudos?
Fighting For Your Power - one of my first published Star Wars fics. Definitely not my favorite and also unfinished, a common occurrence with my ever changing brain.
If I Could Hold You For a Minute (Darling, I'd do it Again.) - Codywan. A little hurt comfort thing that takes place after the Rako Hardeen incident
Orbital Decay - another Codywan fic, probably my longest posted fic at this point in time.
And cowboy is his name - a short little bobadin cowboy au that I'm thinking of adding more onto, whether it's little snippets or an actual story is to be seen.
To Be A Good Soldier - a Commander Cody fic, kinda my own little headcanon as to how he got his scar.
5.) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do, it just takes me a while to get there. I'm always a little slow on the up taking. I reply to comments because someone took a brief moment of their time after reading my story to let me know their thoughts, and it means the world to me, so the least I can do is respond to their comments.
6.) What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A fic that no longer is on AO3 🙈 I took it down after a couple years of like....no one reading it, and decided to keep it to myself, like a dragon. The story is hurt comfort without any of the comfort lol. Poor poor Garashir, doomed by the narrative and also me.
7.) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oooooh let me think. Recently they all have happy endings because I myself need one. Uhhhhhh. Probably Orbital Decay. My babies get together very tentatively at the end.
8.) Do you get hate on fics?
Ehhh my fics don't get seen by a wide enough audience I think. The only 'hate' I've ever gotten was someone demanding me tag something, but it wasn't even very hateful so. No I guess not.
9.) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Once upon a long time ago, but I haven't in ages and frankly it makes me uncomfortable to write, always has.
10.) Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I don't, it's not something that holds my interest.
11.) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of...😳
12.) Have you ever had a fic translated?
No sir-y
13.) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes and no? It's a collaborative fic, but I'm not the one writing it, I just had the base idea and give more ideas for the concept and squeal and cry over it.
14.) What's your all time favorite ship?
It changes with the tides, but how can I pick one set of my beloveds over another?
15.) What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
All of them. Lol uhh I really really wanna get the Codywan AU fic written, but I'm at a point where I currently don't have it in me, I don't have much writing in me at all right now.
16.) What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. I love dialogue. I've also been told, and I have to trust what people tell me, that I'm very descriptive and also know how to write a fight scene.
17.) What are your writing weaknesses?
Lack of confidence in my skills. Inability to finish what I've started. Making sure I'm keeping people in character, and also I tend to lack in the plot department.
18.) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Well, I think so long as you...ugh this one is tricky cause I don't know how to phrase it. I like to write in other languages in very very small doses. A little smattering here and there. But also, I feel like it's important to know the language you're writing in or consult someone who does for accuracy? Idk how to explain it.
19.) First fandom you wrote for?
Marvel. Marvel. And more Marvel. I had a very long story (with no actual plot) posted to a different site, and then took to writing people's requests for Marvel ship fics for a time.
20.) Favorite fic you've ever written?
Uhhh idk To Be a Good Soldier? I'm not entirely sure. Maybe it will be the little OFMD fic idea I had, but who knows.
Softly nudging @poibynt @missypup @frostbitebakery and anyone else who might like to do this

hi hello 😁
for the ship ask game…
lemme ask: codywan, fox/thorn, and i always want to know more about lepi/rion bc ur boys live rent free
Tumblr media
You're evil Tru.
We'll do this out of order for... reasons
fox/thorn
What made you ship it?
I actually have no idea. I probably read something? Have any of our friends written it? Maybe it was that?
When I'm new to a fandom I'm game for pretty much any ship before I start getting salty, so I might just have seen art and been like "awh, that's sweet" and then I wrote fic for it and I was lost.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Pining
I want these two making pathetic eyes at each other for fucking ever before anything happens.
I think Fox is all sharp edges and as a rule the people he's closest to are all sharp edges too. I think he struggles with vulnerability and Thorn is just patient and doesn't have a sharp edge in his body. I think being treated kindly by someone who won't rise to any of the bullshit Fox tries to start is good for getting him to stop posturing.
And I think Fox is good for Thorn as well, though it takes a little longer for that to become apparent. I think Thorn can be a people pleaser, I think he puts people before himself sometimes to his detriment and I think Fox being the stubborn bastard that he is helps Thorn be comfortable taking up more space and putting up firm boundaries on what he'll allow.
On an angsty note, Thorn dying is delicious angst, as is Fox falling deeper and deeper into Palps bullshit. I'm a sucker for stories about people watching their loved ones go down bad paths and when unable to stop them drawing a line in the sand. If Thorn walking away is enough to get Fox to actually examine what he's doing, who knows.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I've said this before, but I don't like the uwu'ing of the CG. I'm only interested in Fox when he is very aware of the fucked up things he's doing for the chancellor and is justifying them. And I think that conflict is key to what I like about Thorn/Fox.
lepi/rion are my beautiful boys
What made you ship it?
So these are OCs obviously, so I didn't really start shipping it as a made them to be shipped.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
I like that there's some opposites attract stuff. Lepi is cheerful and bouncy and Rion is sullen and very introverted. They're both neurodivergent, sometimes in ways that don't mesh well eg. when Lepi is stressed he gets antsy, he talks and moves around and talks more, while Rion gets overstimulated when he's stressed.
I like that they had to work at it. They want this to work and so they talk about it and they get better at communicating their needs and how to slot together.
They're also just very sweet.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Uh... I think the only unpopular opinion I could have is that due to O66 this will inevitably end in tragedy, which considering how you specifically feel about that will be popular or unpopular 😂
Putting codywan under a cut so people don't need to see me being negative all over the place
As you well know, I don't ship codywan
Why don’t you ship it?
I don't like how fandom characterises either of these characters, particularly Obi Wan. I shipped it when I first entered the fandom and have gone more and more off it the more time I spent in fandom. I'm not gonna get into details because I'm not actually here to start fights, but I can rant about this for hours 😂
What would have made you like it?
An entirely different fandom
Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
Honestly, not really. I have so soured on this ship that I do literally everything in my power to avoid having to see it. I won't read fic that even mentions it in passing. I don't even make exceptions for my friends stuff anymore.

codywan kiss bingo #8-10: bad kiss, kiss on the neck, kiss on the nose
another @codywankissbingo fic!!!! sorry for the spam, ig; i just find these prompts very Fun and very low pressure to write lmao. established codywan on tatooine, (very) vaguely inspired by the kenobi show and one of my own fics (this one). rated E, 1k words, very much unbeta’ed, and you can read it on ao3, too.
fic and bingo under the cut :)
---
Cody’s hand is tangled in the hair in the back of Obi-Wan’s head, sweaty fingers tugging at the too-long strands and making shivery, sharp pangs of pleasure-pain slide down his spine and join the heat in Obi-Wan’s belly. Obi-Wan presses his lips to his neck, to his shoulder, to his arm, tasting salty-slick skin and the chemical tang of sonic cleanser.
The cot in his hut is narrow and hard, the mattress lumpy. Cody’s knees keep slipping off the edge, and he grabs onto the frame with one brown hand, the duraplast creaking in his grip, knuckles white. Obi-Wan noses his curls, wild and damp with sweat, and rolls his hips harder, thrusting between his slick thighs, his cock bumping Cody’s balls.
Obi-Wan can feel his heartbeat through his back, through his bowed spine, skin slipping and his hips slapping against Cody’s backside with loud, obscene noises. Cody’s dick is hot and hard and damp in his hand, and when Obi-Wan rubs with his thumb under the head Cody groans, sudden in the quiet of the Tatooine night.
Everything smells like them—sweat and sex and the fancy lube Cody brought with him this time, floral and subtle and the most expensive thing Obi-Wan has touched in a kriffing decade.
“Come on, Kenobi, put your back into it,” Cody grunts, fond, and Obi-Wan nips at his shoulders sharply before complying anyway. He’s getting close, but Cody’s closer, he can feel it in his body and in the way white-hot pleasure is doing its very best to blot Cody’s cunning, methodical mind.
It’s Obi-Wan's favourite part. Cody’s so—contained, controlled, a system unto himself. Sometimes it feels like Obi-Wan can do nothing but orbit his star system of a soul, like some kind of forgettable heavenly body caught in Cody’s gravity.
Even if he’s getting way too old for this.
Obi-Wan slips his free hand under Cody’s body, plays with his nipples until he shivers and moans shamelessly, head thrown back against Obi-Wan’s shoulder, and then Cody’s hand his around Obi-Wan’s wrist and he’s putting his fingers in Cody’s mouth, sharp teeth and hot tongue around the digits, and Obi-Wan gasps into Cody’s back, cursing under his breath.
He can feel him laughing, still somehow young and joyful, and Obi-Wan tugs his fingers out, cradles his jaw, because he needs to kiss him harder than he needs air or the Force, still rolling his hips despite the burn in his core and the crick in his neck and the fact that he will have to strip the sheets off the bed and doing laundry in Tatooine is the worst thing that’s ever happened to him and—
Their teeth clack. Cody yelps when his lips get caught between Obi-Wan’s teeth and his own, and then the taste of blood floods Obi-Wan’s tongue, and Cody’s kriffing snickering, still grabbing onto Obi-Wan’s ass with one hand.
Obi-Wan curses. He sits up, and watches Cody shift on the bed to rest on his back, still laughing, his chin bloody and his eyes bright, half-off the cot, his left leg bent and his foot resting on the rug, his cock still half-hard and slick with his stupid fancy lube.
Obi-Wan feels his own mouth twitch. He licks his lips—they smart as well; at least he’s not bleeding—and looks around his tiny sleeping nook for the wipes he knows they left close by.
The light of Tatooine’s three moons floods the hut through its tiny, round windows, with its alabaster covers and the hard-to-reach locks. It’s dusty and it still looks—well. It’s half empty and every single piece of furniture Obi-Wan owns—the low table, the single pillow, his kettle and his three chipped mugs—looks like Obi-Wan picked it off the street, mostly because that’s what he did.
Cody’s leaving the next morning. He may come back; he may not. He has a life out there in the galaxy, a life Obi-Wan’s not really a part of, a life he doesn’t actually want to be a part of, and Obi-Wan knows it’s not an easy life. He’s seen the scars, newer and uglier, and he’s seen Cody’s guns, and Cody’s body armour. His sleek, black helmet and the beast of a vibroblade he straps to his back.
But he’s there, and he’s—he’s still angry, and he deals the best he can with bouts of grief and unhappiness and dead-eyed depression that scare the shit out of Obi-Wan, but he’s alive and sometimes he drives to Obi-Wan’s hut with ridiculously expensive lube and chocolates and other things Obi-Wan doesn’t necessarily need or want but sometimes misses, and in his old, old age Obi-Wan’s found that’s mostly alright.
He finds the wipes on the floor. He sighs, switches on the luma on the bedside table with a thought and then calls them to his hand. Cody snorts. He seems perfectly unbothered by the fact that he’s still bleeding, grinning like his lip isn’t already swollen and getting worse.
He places his hand on the small of Obi-Wan’s back, clever fingers fingering at the old scar there, and when Obi-Wan starts cleaning the blood he allows it, easy and still sweat-slick and warm.
“Must admit I’ve had better kisses,” he says after a beat, voice a low rumble. Obi-Wan drops the wipe on the bed’s single pillow and tugs at his lip with one thumb; Cody shivers, pain and pleasure going off like a tibanna explosion in his mind, and Obi-Wan huffs. He lies back down on the bed and ducks his head, brushes his lips down Cody’s nose. Cody wraps his hand on the back of his neck, strong fingers careful and rough on the knob of his spine, and when Obi-Wan places his mouth on his neck he sighs, going boneless. Obi-Wan sucks a kiss there, right under his jaw; Cody starts laughing again, easy and incredulous.
“How’s that then?” Obi-Wan says against his skin, trying and failing not to smile. He looks at him again. “Oh, you got blood on the bed.”
Cody snorts and rolls his eyes. Blood wells again on the cut, and this time he winces, but he’s already reaching for Obi-Wan, hands warm and sure on Obi-Wan’s shoulders, and falling into him is easy, so easy. He places his head on Cody’s shoulder and closes his eyes, his feet hanging off the edge of the bed and Cody’s hand playing with his hair.
Later, Obi-Wan will finish what they started and suck him off until he sobs, Cody’s hands still in his hair, but for now he just rests, and decides he needs to find a better bed.

(Even More) Star Wars Fic Recs
[first fic rec list] [second fic rec list]
Hello everyone, happy Monday! I've been reading some fantastic fics recently and wanted to share them with you. May 4th was an absolutely glorious day to be a Star Wars fanfic reader, but the downside to having so many great stories posted on way day is that it's super easy to miss some, so I tried to highlight some here, as well as the usual random assortment.
Alternating Current by @jessepinwheel (gen, WIP, 1/3 chapters, 5.7k words) I am subscribed to @jessepinwheel's AO3 account, that's how much I love all of their writing, and this is just their latest masterpiece. The premise is that after Naboo, Obi-Wan starts experiencing some strange things, almost as if there's someone else in his body. But it doesn't feel like a foreign presence in his mind... And, well, the presence calls themselves Ben. I'm so, so intrigued to see what happens next in this story.
See, I'm the Living Icarus by @crispyjenkins (Rex/Obi-Wan, WIP, 2/6 chapters, 7.0k words) Role-reversal with Obi-Wan as Anakin's Padawan post-Melida/Daan fighting in the Clone Wars alongside Rex. Yeah, that's what I thought -- you're hooked, right? I was too. And then I read the first two chapters and wowwwww, just got even more obsessed. It's all just *chef's kiss*. Cannot wait to read more.
Off Duty by thosenearandfarwars (Obi-Wan/Cody, one-shot, 4.4k words) A post-ROTS world in which the Jedi were not destroyed, the clones are given reparations, and Obi-Wan throws his whole self into reforming the Jedi Order. It's from Cody's POV as he tries to stop his (former?) General from running himself into the ground. Featuring Jedi culture, positive change, some fun namedrops (Chirrut?!), and CODYWAN! Highly recommend this fic.
Starting Over by @ewanmcgregorismyhomeboy12 (Obi-Wan/Cody, one-shot, 3.8k words) Speaking of amazing ideal post-ROTS AUs with Codywan, here's another! This one is described in the tags as being soft and domestic, and it totally is. Cody + plants + Obi-Wan = delight. Such a pleasure to read. Makes you feel all cozy inside.
Finders Keepers by SpaceWall (Obi-Wan/Cody + a ton of background ships, 2/2 chapters, 8.4k words) This fic is a soulmate AU that follows the premise that everything you lose, your soulmate ends up finding. It really does an excellent job of exploring this fascinating premise, and using it in ways I wouldn't have thought of. Like, something happens with Anakin that is just so beautiful yet haunting, I just... Ah! The main ship here is Codywan, but there are so many great background ships like Aayla and Bly or Anakin and Padmé, and some that are super interesting, like Satine and Rex, or Fox and Bail and Breha Organa. Fascinating stuff!
Benediction by @misskirby (gen, one-shot, 3.3k words, Obi-Wan & Anakin) Each new fic by @misskirby destroys me, and this one is no different except it's destroying me with HAPPY THINGS and POSITIVE EMOTIONS for once. My heart hurts just thinking about it, not because it makes me sad, but just in a... ahhh I don't know, the emotions, okay?! Obi-Wan is watching the twins with Anakin in a ROTS-didn't-happen AU and they actually TALK? With their words? And express positive feelings towards each other without being put in horrible situations? Like I said, AU 😂. This is so, so good. (This fic was not posted on May 4th, but @misskirby did post Stride for Stride on that day, which is an excellent fic about Obi-Wan and Anakin sparring for Ahsoka that you all also must read.)
still much that is fair by RaineyDay (gen, 8/8 chapters, 21.1k words, Obi-Wan & Anakin) Massive trigger warning right off the bat for this one, because it starts off with Padawan Obi-Wan trying to commit suicide by throwing himself off of the Temple roof, except instead of dying, he ends up getting caught by -- Anakin?! Somehow he ends up in the future to find out that he's loved, and a good Jedi. Back in his own timeline, Qui-Gon thinks his Padawan has just succeeded in killing himself, and is distraught and has to reckon with their relationship. Don't worry, it has a happy ending! Give Obi-Wan a hug 2k21!
trouble with the curve by jimmytiberius (Cody/Obi-Wan, one-shot, 2.4k words) Modern day baseball AU! Cody is the analytics guy whose job it is to watch Kenobi and how people hit off of him, and Rex is Obi-Wan's normal bullpen catcher. Problem is, Rex is a little hungover, so Cody has to secretly take his brother's place and hope no one notices. Sparks fly!! You guys, this fic is awesome. You don't need to know anything about baseball to read it, though if you do it adds another delightful dimension. Highly recommend! I smile just thinking about this fic!
Lasting Marks by kyitsya (gen, 10/10 chapters, 25.8k words, Obi-Wan & Rex) I reread this fic the other day and it was just as emotionally devastating the second or third time around. It follows Obi-Wan and Rex in the Zygerria arc, except they're trapped in the mines for weeks and things really take a toll. Obi-Wan and Rex's relationship is not one that's explored much in canon, so it's really cool to see a bond form here. I also really like the later subplot with Ahsoka.
Got Me in a Tricky Situation by @dharmaavocado (pre Rex/Obi-Wan, one-shot, 5.2k words) Rex and Obi-Wan are trapped together underneath a collapsed building and they have to literally and metaphorically hold onto each other for support. I absolutely love the descriptions in this one, they're killer (almost literally haha). Some great good ol' fashioned whump. Love it!
A Long Way Down by @kckenobi (gen, one-shot, 3.8k words, Obi-Wan & Anakin) @kckenobi writes truly wonderful fics, but I gotta say I think this is my favorite. Obi-Wan and Anakin are trying to escape Separatists by climbing up a cliff face, but Obi-Wan's injured and he's really struggling to hold on... Oh, everything about this is perfect: the characterizations, the descriptions, the dialogue, everything! I reread this one all the time.
If you like any of these fics, please consider reblogging so they can get more exposure! And if you noticed I missed someone’s Tumblr account, or linked the wrong one, please let me know!

Fantasy AU Fic Recs
.....listen.
I got bored! I wrote one chapter of my fic and then I didn’t know what else to do! So! Here we are!!! One of my other favorite things to read! Fantasy AU!!!!!!!!
Under the cut are a few Fantasy AU fics that I love! There will be some further down that do contain some spice, but I will warn you which ones those are.
Also! These Fantasy AU fics are set in a fantasy world. There are a large number of fics tagged as fantasy, but not set in a fantasy world. They have elements like mermaids and dragons and such, but it’s not what I’m giving you this time around.
mhi solus tome (series) by @mageofcole  The first time Crown Prince Kote Mereel meets his soulmate, he’s ten years old; his soulmate's a few years older than him, with red-gold hair tied back in a ponytail, a short braid falling down to his chin to frame a milk-pale face sprayed with copper freckles. His name is Obi-Wan Kenobi. (codywan)
A Tower Firmly Set by @itstimeforstarwars Cody knocks on the door of the wizard's tower, as he had done every Taungsday since he'd worked up the courage to find out what supposedly frightening and unnatural fellow lived there. The wizard welcomes him, as he had done every Taungsday since he'd worked up the courage to find out what supposedly frightening and unnatural fellow lived there. And then the wizard introduces him to his family. It seems that getting into trouble is genetic. (codywan)
The Eagle and the Wolf by @fireflyfish "Did you know wolves and eagles mate for life? The Emperor didn't even leave us that. "Ahsoka Tano, the Horned Mouse, is a thief of great renown until she's apprehended by the Emperor's Justice and sentenced to death the next midday. Determined to escape, Ahsoka embarks on a perilous adventure where she discovers that her mysterious traveling companion is not what he seems, and just what exactly is the thing he calls the Force anyway? A Ladyhawke inspired AU. (obikin)
The Throne of Air by jynx  A millennia ago, Magic made a treaty with the King of the Throne of Air. (codywan)
Codywan Week 2020 (Collected Prompts) (chapter 4) by @glimmerglanger (codywan)
The Lone Wolf Dies (series) by @mageofcole   Obi-Wan had never been able to turn away from something in trouble. There’s an injured animal in the forest, he can hear the sounds from the dense underbrush of the woods that surround his home, and it's accompanied by the sound of hunting dogs. (alphobi)
ashes to ashes, dust to dust by @crablad Obi-Wan surveyed the pub, taking in the various creatures spread out. Looking for a dragon, as rare as they were, was impossible, especially with the nagas roaming around. He couldn’t catch a sight of those leathery wings, and if he did they were usually harpies with their sharp teeth and red hair. He thought he caught sight of something other than a harpy, with scales along the neck, but the shaded glasses, and squirming hat revealed the creature as a gorgon. He sighed, sinking further into the seat. His wings recoiled from the dusty ground, shaking themselves to clean. It ended up just leaving them covered in more grime, something he would have to deal with later. The scales were more important now, he needed to find a dragon… or someone who knew one. His informant was supposed to meet him an hour ago.
Pretend like Tomorrow will Never Come by @obidobe  For one night he wasn’t the King of Mandalore, wasn’t meant to marry the eldest daughter of Clan Kryze, and didn’t have the pressure of treaty generations in the making on his shoulders. He was just one man. A man in love. (rexobi)
From the Garden, Grow by @galateagalvanized Cody fumbles his helmet off and tucks it under one arm, hovering mid-air in front of the tower’s balcony. He’s a professional, he reminds himself. “Hi, I’m Cody,” he says, keeping his hands and shoulders relaxed; some of the captured royals can be a little skittish at first. “I’m here to rescue you.” The man in the tower just laughs, and the sound is as delightful as his singing had been. “Oh, that’s very kind,” the prince says, his madder blue eyes twinkling. “But I’m quite alright, thank you. Have a good day.” Or, Commander Cody and Star Wars’ actual Disney princess. (codywan)
(spice starts here with a varying rating)
The Dragon King by @jonathananubian Obi-wan Kenobi is a Knight of the Jedi Order. A sect of magic users who devote their lives to serving others. While on a mission with his young squire, Anakin Skywalker, the two are suddenly ambushed and taken prisoner. When he wakes he is not surprised to find himself in yet another dungeon cell. But the situation quickly takes a turn for the worse when the one man he had hoped to never meet again appears before him. With no weapons and his magic sealed Obi-wan will do everything he can to protect his young squire, even if it means submitting to the Dragon King of Mandalore. (Jangobi)
Peace in the Realm by Rosawyn  When young Lord Anakin's elopement threatens the fragile peace of the entire kingdom, Lord Obi Wan and Prince Codex must find a way to prevent his impulsive decision from toppling everything into chaos. With threats of war looming on their borders and petty nobles squabbling in Obi Wan's own duchy, things are feeling a lot less stable. And that's all before the assassination. (codywan)
Bookworms, Warriors, and Princes by @wanderingjedihistorian  Fantasy AU with a quasi late medieval style setting. (codywan)
The Spellwound Order (series) by YamiXenara  A Universe at War, the dead rising on the battlefields. All Anakin wants is a break. (obikin)

Snippet for Home (On the Range): I'm curious about any past relationships Cody and Ben have had, and so if you feel up to it, I'd love to watch them have the conversation about past loves that always has to happen eventually. :D
:D GOOD MORNING! I almost said this was the first of the follow-ups for "Home (On the Range)" but, in fact, there've been two already aha. This is the first one set AFTER the fic, though only by a week or so.
This is a (not that) little Codywan snippet. Established relationship and it got VERY SPICY. Grown-up conversations ensue.
~~~~
The temperatures had dipped well into chilly, at least overnight, when Cody suggested they head out deep into the ranch one evening. “You can see every star up there,” he said, pulling Ben into a kiss. “Thought it might be nice. And we’ll want to do it before it gets any colder.”
Ben wondered if the suggestion had anything to do with the astronomy lessons he’d been prepping for class, even as he hummed agreement. They piled blankets into the bed of Cody’s truck, along a sleeping bag and a few thermoses full of something warm.
It was dark by the time they pulled up onto the ridge of a hill, deep inside the borders of the ranch. Cody turned the lights off, nothing but the rumble of the engine breaking the stillness of the night, and said, “It’ll take a bit for our eyes to adjust. Half an hour, maybe.”
“Oh, really?” Ben said, hooking a finger into the collar of Cody’s shirt and pulling him over, murmuring, against his mouth, “whatever shall we do to fill the time?”
Cody huffed a laugh, mouth welcoming and warm, swearing briefly when Ben added, after a beat, “You know, I’m not sure there’s any way I can fit into your lap over there.”
Cody’s eyes caught the light of the stars outside, just a little, as he rasped back, “Good thing we’ve got the entire bed of the truck, then.” And he popped open his door, allowing in the cooler outside air, even as he turned off the truck.
The air felt nippy on Ben’s face as they climbed up into the bed of the truck, but it wasn’t so bad, really. They’d spread out the sleeping bag along the bed, keeping away the chill of the metal, and there were plenty of blankets.
And, well.
Kissing Cody always warmed him up, anyway. Ben thought about pulling his close, the stars as yet unseen stretching overhead and the hills rolling all around them, the Tetons watching, sentinels in the distance.
Cody swore when his phone buzzed, pulling it out of his pocket and taking a step away from the truck as Ben finished sorting the blankets, considering that he’d never had sex in the back of a truck before. It seemed a nice idea, making love out under the endless sky.
He grimaced when he recalled that he’d left his wallet back at the house, condoms along with it, though he’d slid a packet of lube into his front pocket. He frowned, swinging over the side of the truck to see if Cody had brought his wallet, plucking it from his pocket as he said, “--Rex, I swear to God, if you try to come out here right now--”
He winked when Cody looked over at him, waving the wallet, and listening to Rex laugh, his voice distant and distorted through the phone.
Ben left them to it, climbing back up into the truck, flipping Cody’s wallet open, pleased to find a familiar little foil square tucked inside. He drew it out, planning to set it aside for use in a bit, when they needed it, and frowned.
It felt...odd.
He tilted it around - noting the brand - and peered at it in the light provided by the moon and the stars. He blinked, grabbed his own phone, and turned it on to get enough light to read it properly, sure that he’d misread the expiration date, because--
“Something wrong?” Cody asked, the truck dipping slightly as he stepped up onto the bed, apparently done with Rex.
“Well,” Ben said, putting down his phone and turning the condom in his fingers. “Aside from the fact that this condom expired five years ago, not really.”
Cody paused, still standing, looking down at him. “Oh,” he said, as Ben turned the little packet again and then, on a whim, tore it open. He’d never actually seen one expire before.
“Hm,” he said, wrinkling his nose. Apparently, they were not one of the things that stayed good, even long, long after they expired. Any moisture had long since disappeared. The condom itself looked like a dessicated snake skin, or something like it. “I don’t think this’ll work,” he added. “Though we could try rehydrating it, I suppose, I--”
“Let’s not do experiments on the condom,” Cody said, taking it out of his fingers and tucking it into a pocket. “Should we go back to the house? Get another one?” He sank down, close by, and Ben considered it, but--
“I’m sure we’ll find some way to entertain ourselves,” he said, looped an arm around Cody’s shoulders, and pulled him close.
He’d gotten familiar with the best ways to take off Cody’s clothes, unbuttoning his flannel shirt and pushing it off his shoulders, tugging his undershirt out of his waistband. Cody pulled the blankets up around them, the warmth from his skin translating into Ben’s body as Ben shimmied out of his jeans, pulling his own shirt over his head.
The moonlight shone off of Cody’s skin, caught in the dark curls of his hair. Their breath steamed the air - the temperature had really plunged with the fall of night - but Ben didn’t feel cold, not as they tangled close together, trading kisses that set a fire in his veins, not with Cody putting off heat like a furnace, warm hands all over Ben’s skin.
And Ben had become rather fond of the idea of getting fucked under the stars, in the brief time he’d had to consider it. Just because it wasn’t going to happen the way he’d initially assumed didn’t mean it wouldn’t happen at all.
“Here,” he rasped, rolling onto his side, grabbing for the jeans and the lube in his pocket, pulling it out, “Here, like this, ah, Cody.”
Cody’s weight felt good against his back, warm and solid, Cody’s teeth scraping along the curve of his shoulder as he settled, taking the packet of lube from Ben’s fingers without any of the hesitation he’d displayed the first few times they were intimate with one another.
“Like this?” Cody rumbled, right against his shoulder, and Ben heard the wet movement of Cody slicking up his own cock, felt the smear of the rest of the lube over the back of his thighs and--
Exhaled, hard, when Cody ground against him, overheated flesh sliding together. Probably, they were making more of a mess than they should have done, out in the middle of some field, out in - in such an exposed place, but--
It was hard to care, with Cody sucking a kiss into his neck and grinding against him, panting out, “Spread your legs, just a little,” and when Ben listened, slotting his cock right between Ben’s thighs, rocking them together.
If there were anyone around, Ben hated to think what would have been overheard, the two of them swearing and gasping and groaning. He knew he cried out, loudly, when Cody slid a hand over his hip, gripping his cock and stroking him, so sure and so steady and--
Well.
The sleeping bag was going to need a wash when they got back home.
So was Ben, in all honesty.
He laughed, hoarsely, when Cody pulled away from him, leaving his inner thighs smeared with come. It was quite warm, at first, but Ben knew that wouldn’t last. “See,” he said, sprawling onto his side, thighs held apart, groping for something to wipe up with, “a condom would have prevented this mess.”
“Sorry about that,” Cody said, and then, “here, use my shirt.”
And then he used it himself, wiping up the mess all over Ben’s legs and cock. He even smeared away the mess on the sleeping bag, as best he could. Ben watched him - he was easier to see, Ben’s eyes must have adjusted, and said, “Why did you have an expired condom in your wallet, anyway?”
Cody balled his shirt up, the mess tucked away inside, and shrugged. He tossed it into one corner of the bed of the truck. “It’s just the one I’ve always had. I never really checked the date on it.”
Ben blinked, turning that over in his head, even as Cody settled close to him, naked under the blankets. Ben said, as Cody curled an arm around him. “The one you’ve always - you - what does that mean?”
Cody shrugged, stubble rasping against Ben’s shoulder, while Ben wondered if Cody had really avoided using a condom before, because that didn’t sound like him at all, and--
“I got it, ah, years ago. When I was - when I thought I might need it. But then I didn’t. I kept it, just in case. But…” He trailed off, shrugging again.
Ben blinked up at the clear, shining stars, and then rolled to face Cody, gut doing something strange. “Wait. Did you never--”
“I did stuff,” Cody said, still staring up at the stars. “A few times with, uh, with a guy I really liked. He competed, too. We were friends for a while. And then one day I just wanted to kiss him, so I did. And we, well. Fooled around, I guess. But then I beat him, pretty soundly, and he didn’t want to anymore.”
Ben blinked, processing that. He’d known that, sooner or later, they’d end up having a talk about their pasts. That kind of thing happened. “He didn’t want to anymore?” he asked, trying to get his mind around anyone not wanting Cody anymore, he was--
“Yeah, I guess.” Cody sighed, tucked his arm behind his head, and stared starward. “And I’d already bought the string of condoms, even though we’d only needed two. But then it was over, so. And I put one in my wallet.”
Ben watched his expression carefully. He didn’t seem upset. Just...relating the story. “And then you never used it,” Ben said, quietly.
“Never needed it,” Cody said, shrugging against the sleeping bag. “I’ve been busy since then. And didn’t have anyone I particularly wanted to use it with.”
“Oh,” Ben said, the cold air nipping at his exposed skin, but ever so warm under the blankets.
“What about you?” Cody asked, before he could wrangle another thought together. “Yours aren’t ever expired.”
“Ah, no,” Ben said, and then shrugged, settling against Cody’s side. “I’ve always been very careful to use them.” He felt his ears heat.
Cody hummed, curled an arm tighter around him, and said, “I know you’ve been with more people’n me, Ben. It doesn’t bother me. Hell, I’m glad one of us knows what we’re doing.”
Ben exhaled a little, snuggling in closer against the cold. It had, probably, been foolish to worry, to brace for disapproval. He traced patterns on Cody’s chest under the blanket and said, “I had no idea that you didn’t, ah, know what you were doing.”
Cody snorted, rolling onto his side, brushing a kiss to Ben’s cheek and then his mouth, fingers tracing down his spine. His expression, what Ben could see of it, looked a bit smug. “I learn fast,” he said, tone warm and low. “Especially when I get hands-on instruction.”
“I see that.” Ben crooked his mouth, brushing Cody’s hair back from his face. He figured, feeling soft and content, that if they were going to discuss their histories, he might as well finish it all, and went on, “I haven’t had many long relationships. Just...brief flings. A longer thing with a girl, right before I started college. And Luminara and I tried to make something work, once. But we’re much better friends than lovers.”
Cody nodded, said, “I never was very interested in girls.”
“Mm, I gathered.” He leaned in for another kiss, shivering when Cody brushed his callused fingers a little lower. He rasped, gut tightening, “Don’t tease.”
“Sorry,” Cody murmured, nipping his bottom lip. “And sorry we don’t have all the supplies we need.” Ben hummed, not overly concerned by the lack, not when they could trade sweet, lazy kisses, occasionally glancing at the stars, until Cody went on, “You know. We could - well. We’re together. Just the two of us.”
Ben turned away from his contemplation of a constellation he couldn’t name, nodding, and Cody went on, “We could get tested. I mean. I don’t think I could have caught anything, to be honest. And if I had, I think I’d have noticed in the last couple of years. And you’ve been careful, you said. But better to check. And then…”
He shrugged, and Ben considered it. He’d never slept with anyone skin on skin. Qui-Gon had been exceedingly clear about all the possible consequences of skipping out on protection. Even with Satine, young and giddy half the time, he’d always been careful.
But - he didn’t plan to share his bed with anyone else, he considered, staring across at Cody in the dark, under the brilliant light of the stars and the moon. He didn’t want to kiss anyone else. Or pull anyone else close in the night.
His heart ached in his chest, sweetly, and he said, “And then we wouldn’t need supplies to have sex in the back of your truck?”
“Mm,” Cody said, rolling closer to him, one elbow braced by his head, leaning down to kiss him, “Or to make love under the stars, either.”
Ben shivered, curled an arm around him, and felt his stomach swoop, imagining that, imagining them skin to skin everywhere. He said, his voice gone to a rasp, “That sounds very nice,” and Cody smiled against his mouth, kissing him again.
Learning to deal with emotionally crippling pain
For @codywanweek 2021 Day 2: AU (Modern University AU.)
You can also read this fic here on A03.
(The title of the fic will make sense after reading the fic.)
This is set at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK, where I went to uni. As I wanted to combine the uni I loved going to with one of my favourite ships.
No major warnings, but there is a slight, non-graphic, description of how bodies were buried during the Black Death (this may seem very random, but I don’t want to gross anyone out.)
(I was inspired by @catawampuscorner drawing adorable baby clones in animal onesies, the cuteness now lives rent free in my brain and my brain desperately wanted to add baby clones and baby Jedi in animal onesies to this fic due to their wonderful drawings of the baby clones. So, I have referenced codywan and some other clones being youngsters in animal onesies near the end of this fic.)
Also Wolffe and Fox are twins because I thought of the idea about a month ago and loved it so much.
Cody hefted his kit bag onto his shoulder and nodded in thanks to the bus driver as he stepped off the bus on Oxford Road. He turned hearing a loud thump and rolled his eyes, Fives had, against Cody’s and Rex’s advice, decided to sit on the top deck of the double-decker bus while carrying his heavy rugby kit bag. Unsurprisingly Fives stumbled and hit the wall of the stairs as he tried to walk down the steep steps, his bag over balancing him. Rex threw out an arm to steady their younger brother and then the two of them joined Cody on the pavement.
“We did warn you,” stated Rex with a roll of his eyes.
“Whatever,” griped Fives. Without another word, Fives was walking through All Saints Park, no doubt heading back to the student halls where he shared a flat with his twin Echo and six other first year students.
“I really hope Echo is better soon. I don’t know how much longer I can take Fives in this mood,” sighed Rex shaking his head.
“You and me both,” agreed Cody with a nod of his head at his younger brother.
Cody was the eldest of the four brothers, and was currently in his third and final year of studying his undergraduate history degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. Rex was eleven months younger than him and was in his second year studying law, Echo and Fives were their younger brothers who were twins. The family hadn’t thought that Fives was interested in going to university, which was fine with them as they didn’t want to push him into something he didn’t want. But when Echo announced his intention of going to study mathematics at the same university where Cody and Rex were studying, Fives suddenly announced that he was also going to Man Met to study physiotherapy. The twins were in their first year and two years ago, at eighteen, Cody had thought he would be getting some peace from his three younger brothers, in the end he only got one year of peace before his brothers joined him in quick succession. But thankfully he only had to put up with living with them when they were all home for the holidays. As Cody shared a one-bedroom flat with his long-term boyfriend Obi-Wan who had also chosen to study at Man Met, also in his third year, studying English literature. Obi-Wan and Cody had been best friends since their first day at primary school aged four, later confessing their romantic feelings for each other when they were sixteen, both coming down from the stress of getting their GCSE results. They hadn’t actually told each other where they were applying for university, not wanting to influence each other’s decision. But they still ended up at the same university anyway, not that Cody was complaining.
Like Cody, Obi-Wan had not been able to escape his younger brother. Anakin was friends with Fives and Echo as they were the same age, Anakin was in his first year studying engineering at Man Met. It was funny to Cody, because Echo and Anakin’s subjects were in the same faculty, they often saw each other as their lectures and seminars took place in the John Dalton buildings, whereas Fives went to lectures across the main road on the slightly smaller campus in the Brooks Building. Fives had always been protective of Echo, his reasoning being he was the older twin so had to look out for Echo. But after Echo got hurt in a car accident when they were fifteen driving home with their dad, Fives had grown even more protective, somehow blaming himself because he wasn’t there in the car with Echo. The youngest of the four brothers hadn’t been seriously hurt, but the accident had gained him a constant shadow. So, when the twins applied to the university, they looked at the map of the two campuses and picked Oxford Court for their student halls accommodation because it was pretty much in the middle of where the two of them would have their lectures and seminars.
With another look in the direction Fives had gone, feeling a rare moment of relief at seeing his brother walk away. Cody loved his brothers, but because Echo had gotten injured in their last rugby game, he couldn’t take part in practice and it had left Fives in a mood for the past week. Neither Echo, Cody or Rex could seem to talk Fives out of his mood, leading to Cody thinking he may have to call their parents to talk some sense into Fives. But he didn’t want to worry his mum, which is what would happen if Cody had to tell her Fives still wasn’t okay a week after Echo badly spraining his ankle. So, Cody’s only other option would be to call his twin cousins, Wolffe and Fox who were both in their third and final years of studying at the same university in London. Wolffe was studying sport science, while Fox was studying history like Cody, but with more of a focus on medical history while Cody preferred military history.
Wolffe and Fox were the closest cousins Cody and his brothers had, due to their parents all moving to Britain from New Zealand due to his father and uncle getting jobs with the same tech company before Cody, Wolffe and Fox were born. Leaving the rest of the aunts, uncles and cousins back in New Zealand with their grandparents. Cody then reflected, calling the other twins might not be a bad idea. Wolffe would be gruff but caring in talking to Fives and if that failed, Fox would just beat sense into him either verbally or physically. With there being direct trains from London to Manchester, Cody wouldn’t be surprised if Fox came in person to beat some sense into Fives. Fox had no patience for Fives’ protective older brother routine of Echo and that was down to Wolffe being protective of Fox. Which he hated, but to be fair to Wolffe, he was fully justified going by the amount of coffee and lack of sleep Fox was powering through to work on his assignments and dissertation. Despite the fact it was still January and Fox had three months left until he had to hand in his dissertation.
Thinking of dissertations, Cody waved goodbye to Rex and headed towards the cafeteria in the Business School building to get some tea for his boyfriend. Once he acquired the tea in a take away cup, he went next door to the library where Obi-Wan was working on his dissertation, thankful that their university library allowed food and drink as long as it was silent. Fox was insanely jealous as his university library forbade any food or drink to enter the building, meaning Fox was deprived of his precious coffee. Which was why Wolffe pushed Fox to work in the library as often as he could. Cody didn’t mind plying Obi-Wan with tea, because while he could say Obi-Wan was additive to his tea, he didn’t drink any caffeinated tea two hours before going to bed, unlike Fox who was known to drink a mug of coffee before going to bed if Wolffe hadn’t managed to stop him. It was a wonder Wolffe hadn’t gone grey with the amount of time he spent worrying over his twin brother.
Cody scanned his student card to let him past the barriers and started walking up the two flights of stairs to the floor Obi-Wan liked to work on. The library was massive, with its different wings and five floors, but Cody was glad it was so big because it could be divided into silent study areas and group study areas, where you could talk so long as you were quiet. Obi-Wan, like Cody, hated working in complete silence and in their first year they found a nook between some shelves that had a table where they could bring their own laptops to work on their essays together. But were conveniently close to university computers so they could log on to print their work if needed. It was also a space their brothers had been unable to find them in, although Cody was fairly certain Rex knew where he liked to work, but was kind enough to leave him alone. Anakin, Echo and Fives would not be as considerate.
He walked through the doors into the study area and walked halfway into the big room with its rows of computers and shelves of books, until he found Obi-Wan hunched over his notes and two books he was using for his dissertation. Cody silently reminded himself that he was due to meet with his dissertation supervisor tomorrow to check the progress on his second chapter. He placed the cup of tea on the table beside Obi-Wan’s laptop and pressed a kiss onto the mess of copper hair, noting that his boyfriend hadn’t shaved again, making him wonder if Obi-Wan was committing to growing a beard. If he did, it would be because Obi-Wan was fed up of people thinking he was sixteen or seventeen, rather than being almost twenty-one years old, something that delighted Anakin to no end. Obi-Wan slowly sat up and blinked owlishly at him and rubbed a hand over his face. “Rugby practice is over already?” he asked in confusion as he looked at his watch.
Cody snorted in amusement, “thankfully yes.” Obi-Wan had come to the library just after Cody left their flat for practice, that had been two and half hours ago.
Obi-Wan reached for his tea and sighed in pleasure when he sipped on the hot liquid. “Fives still in a mood then?”
“Yes,” he sighed in exasperation as he sat down beside Obi-Wan and putting his kit bag on the floor with a roll of his shoulder.
Raising a knowing eyebrow over the rim of his cup, Obi-Wan asked. “Are you going to call Wolffe and Fox?” Cody nodded in agreement, smiling to himself, happy at how easily Obi-Wan fit into his family. Obi-Wan, Cody, Wolffe and Fox had all gone through school together. Obi-Wan and Anakin’s dad, Qui-Gon, was a friend of Cody’s parents and often came over for dinner. According to his dad, Cody’s mum and Qui-Gon had been having wine nights when they lamented over their empty nests and how it was unfair how quickly their children were growing up. While Cody’s aunt just laughed at them because Wolffe and Fox had left home for university almost three years before.
They lapsed into silence, and Cody just let himself day dream as he listened to the clack of Obi-Wan’s keyboard. He also ran through a mental list of things he needed to do for his dissertation and thought he could do with another trip down to London to go to the National Archives again for some more primary sources. His phone buzzed and Cody snorted at the text message from Echo.
[Echo] Fives is in SUCH a bad mood! Please help me!
[Cody] Sorry Echo. Rex and I had him for two hours, we need a break.
[Echo] WORST BIG BROTHERS EVER!!!!
[Echo] I hope you marry Obi-Wan so I can adopt him as my favourite older brother.
[Echo] You know what. I’m not waiting until you marry him. He’s my favourite brother now.
Cody chuckled to himself, he couldn’t argue with Echo, Obi-Wan was his favourite person too.
[Cody] What WILL Fives say?
[Echo] Right now I don’t care. He’s driving me INSANE!!!!
[Cody] I was going to call Wolffe and Fox to see if they could help.
[Echo] PLEASE!!! I am BEGGING YOU!!!!
[Echo] You know what?
[Echo] Just skip straight to Fox.
[Echo] And record it. I want to relive that future moment for forever. Fox’s position as my favourite cousin will be secured.
Cody snorted in amusement again, Obi-Wan turned to him in question. So, Cody just showed him the messages and Obi-Wan shook his head in amusement, but he blushed slightly. No doubt due to Echo’s comments on Cody marrying Obi-Wan.
“Echo wishing harm on Fives. I never thought I’d see the day,” commented Obi-Wan, his blue eyes sparkling with laughter. No doubt remembering the times Fox lost his patience with bullies and idiots they went to school with and just went for them. Their aunt had to give Fox the disapproving lecture, but she also slipped Fox money for standing up to bullies for other kids. So, Fox’s handling of bullies and idiots had never been stopped, only been encouraged.
“Oh, Echo can be pushed to it,” chuckled Cody, recalling the few times Fives had made Echo lose his temper. Echo was a nice and quiet person, which also made him one of those people you did not want to make angry, because when his patience snapped. It snapped. He could be worse than Fox, and that said something.
“By the way, your dad text me. He’s invited me to a family reunion dinner in a month’s time. So, is anyone coming over from New Zealand?” Obi-Wan asked as he started to tidy his books away and turn off his laptop.
Cody nodded. “My grandparents are coming over in three weeks and are staying until the summer as they want to be here for mine, Wolffe and Fox’s graduations. Then a few of the cousins are coming over in the summer.” He smiled to himself; it would be nice to see his family members again. They all saw each other every year, one year Cody and his family would fly out to New Zealand and the next year the family would fly over to Britain for a few weeks. With all of the cousins now at university, it made sorting out reunions easier due to the longer holidays they all had.
Obi-Wan’s eyes sparkled with amusement again, “anymore family arguments to look forward to?” he laughed.
“Probably,” Cody sighed as he rolled his eyes. Obi-Wan had come out to New Zealand with him last summer and witnessed some truly spectacular family arguments and rather silly ones as well. The most prominent being about Fox and Echo’s names.
When Fox had been a toddler, he and Wolffe had been put into animal onesies (Cody and his brothers also shared that misfortune with their cousins, but the less said about that the better), Wolffe into a wolf onesie and Fox into a fox onesie. Ever since Fox wanted to be called Fox, as he hated his proper name, the name being Frederick. If anyone ever called him Frederick when he was a small child he bit them, leading to his parents to tell their school when they started that it would be best if they didn’t call Fox Frederick for the safety of their own fingers.
Then when Echo had been four and in school, learning about words that began with the letter E, he heard the word Echo and wanted to call himself that, because he didn’t like being called Eli. Cody’s mum had tried to tell Echo his name was Eli, but Echo said Fox picked his name, so why couldn’t he? Cody’s mum tried her hardest to get Echo to forget about calling himself Echo, seeing as he was named after his mum’s father-in-law Elias and didn’t want to offend him. But Echo just started repeating everything everyone said, until the point their dad begged their mum to just let Echo call himself Echo. Fives didn’t want to be left out, and chose the nickname Fives, but he wasn’t involved in the arguments because he let their grandmother still call him Felix. Echo and Fox on the other hand, both refused to answer to their given names. And Obi-Wan had witnessed their grandmother once again getting annoyed when Echo and Fox didn’t answer her when she called them Eli and Frederick. That was also the visit where Obi-Wan learnt just who Echo and Fox inherited their stubbornness from. Grandpa Elias was not offended and found the whole thing hilarious and continued to congratulate Echo on his name every time he saw Echo. Cody was also convinced, his grandmother only continued the argument for the sake of it, he had seen her handwriting in birthday cards calling Echo and Fox by their chosen names. But she still wrote Eli and Frederick on family Christmas cards, again probably just for the drama.
But some uncles and aunts were not happy with Echo and Fox changing their names, albeit not legally, because other cousins began following their lead. Namely their four cousins who were all siblings (two sets of twins), Hunter, Crosshair, Wrecker and Tech. The four of them changing their names and even happily calling themselves the Bad Batch at family gatherings much to the ire of their mother. Fives was blamed for their collective nickname, as Obi-Wan found out and thought it was hilarious. The Bad Batch had invited Echo to play with them when they were small, and Fives who had not been invited to play had been jealous and called them the Bad Batch, the four of them had loved it and adopted it as their group name.
Obi-Wan started to laugh quietly to himself as he put his laptop away in his bag. At Cody’s questioning look he smiled and said. “I’m just wondering who will be the first to say something to disrupt family dinner. Either you, your brothers or your cousins will say something. You have done ever since the first family dinner I was invited to when I was five.”
Cody smirked to himself and nodded, “honestly I’m expecting it to be Fox again. You know he deals with stress in the weirdest ways.”
“You mean like putting everyone else off their food?” teased Obi-Wan, his eyes glinting at the memory of the last dinner everyone had together.
Over the four-week long Christmas holiday, Cody’s parents had hosted numerous family dinners, wanting to spend as much time together as possible. As it was understood with Cody, Obi-Wan, Wolffe and Fox graduating university later that year, they may not get to come home as often anymore. Also, as Cody’s uncle and aunt lived next door to them and Obi-Wan lived five houses further down the road, it was very easy for Cody’s uncle and aunt, Wolffe, Fox, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Anakin to join their family for dinner. Which also meant, Cody and Obi-Wan had to suffer the embarrassment of watching Qui-Gon and Cody’s mum tearfully looking at photos of them growing up, mourning the loss of their little ones’. While Cody’s aunt sipped on her glass of red wine and cackled at them, saying it was better to have both her kids leave the nest at once, as she didn’t have to go through kids moving out more than once.
Cody had also been horrified to learn there existed a photo of him in an animal onesie after all, and to make it worse, he was four in the photo. He was at school, but because his mum wanted a picture of all her boys in their animal onesies, he had been put into his old lion onesie (mane included on the hood) that was getting too small for him. But it had interested him to see it was a group photo of all of them sat on the living room floor. Obi-Wan was also in the photo, in a onesie that resembled the fictional varactyl creature he had been obsessed with when he was four. His unimpressed look matching Cody’s, in the photo both of them had their arms crossed as they glared at their parents off camera. Wolffe and Fox were also in the photo, but too busy pulling on each other’s hoods, Wolffe almost taking off one of Fox’s onesie’s ears. Rex, at three, was happily beaming at their mum in his elephant onesie that included a small trunk attached to the hood. Leaning against Rex on his left was Anakin, who at two, was too busy trying to eat his own foot as he sat in his dog onesie. On Rex’s right was the little twins, Echo beaming at the camera in his giraffe onesie as he lifted a hand up to squeeze the felt face of the giraffe attached to the hood and Fives, in a moose onesie (seriously where had his parents found these?), was busy trying to grab one of his felt antlers and eat it. Apparently, their parents had kept all of the onesies, what they planned to do with them Cody couldn’t guess.
But while the onesie group photo had been embarrassing, it hadn’t put anyone off their food. No, that came when Cody’s dad asked all of them how university was going. Everyone listened as one by one, all the boys explained what they had been doing. The adults patiently listened as Cody, Obi-Wan, Wolffe and Fox talked about their dissertations and skilfully manoeuvring the conversation so as to avoid third year meltdowns as the families had taken to calling their tearful, stressed rants. While Rex, Anakin, Fives and Echo stared at them in dawning horror as they realised what was in their immediate future. Fox had given Cody advice on where to find primary sources, as Fox was writing his ten-thousand-word dissertation on the Black Death and at this point, was basically an expert on where to find medical documents from varying time periods. Which was immensely helpful for Cody because his dissertation was on the treatment of shell shock in the First World War.
Dinner seemed to then settle, with all the boys commenting on funny or interesting things they had heard at university. When Fox piped up, “I was reading a chapter for my dissertation when the author commented that they buried people who had died of the Black Death by lying down a layer of bodies, then a layer of soil, another layer of bodies, more soil, more bodies and then the final layer of soil. It was interesting that the author used the analogy of the bodies been buried like how you make a lasagne.”
Everyone stopped, many of the people gathered around the table stared at Fox, with forks paused in the air. Fox, oblivious continued to eat his dinner with a smile on his face. Which was lasagne. Wolffe just shook his head and sighed in exasperation as he stopped eating his portion of lasagne and instead reached for a piece of garlic bread. Obi-Wan, taking interest in the analogy, was asking Fox if he had come across any other analogies like it. Rex, Echo and Fives dropped their forks and looked at their food in faint disgust. Qui-Gon and Anakin, who normally didn’t find anything disgusting, looked down at the lasagne on their plates in muted horror. Cody’s parents and uncle just sighed, with his uncle massaging his forehead in exasperation, while Cody’s aunt lifted her wine glass up and saluted Fox with it before taking a sip (Fox was a lot like his mother). Cody raised an eyebrow at his cousin, Fox smirked and then reached for the serving dish in the centre of the table. “Oh, no one else wants anymore? Guess I’ll finish the lasagne up then,” Fox stated with a mock innocent look on his face. Wolffe just sighed again and thumped his head down onto the table. Leaving Cody with the impression that Fox was hungry and saw how quickly the food was disappearing and decided to take matters into his own hands.
As Cody and Obi-Wan walked out of the library holding hands, Cody turned to Obi-Wan and smirked. “It is safe to say, lasagne will not be on the menu.”
Obi-Wan laughed loudly as they made their way into the cold air outside, wrapping his scarf tighter around his neck. Obi-Wan also admitted that neither his father nor Anakin, had been able to eat lasagne since that dinner. Anakin had seen lasagne being served for lunch at the university one day and had practically fled the cafeteria.
Together they walked to the bus stop that was less than a minute walk from the library and sat in contented silence as they travelled from campus on the short bus journey to their flat. Their shoulders knocked gently together as they swayed as the bus pulled in and out of bus stops. Their hands were still clasped together, and Obi-Wan was looking out of the window with a smile on his face as he watched people go about their day. Cody found himself unable to tear his gaze away from Obi-Wan’s face, watching as his eyes crinkled as he smiled at the sight of a giggling child play peekaboo with their younger sibling. The bright winter sun turned Obi-Wan’s copper hair into flames and it was a sight that always memorised Cody without fail. It was the sight that led to four-year-old him talking to Obi-Wan on their first day at school because he had never seen someone with the same-coloured hair as Obi-Wan before. Cody only realised they had reached the bus stop they needed when Obi-Wan pressed the button to alert the driver to stop. He reached down for his kit bag and swung it up onto his shoulder, they walked off the bus, thanked the driver and continued walking while holding hands. Obi-Wan began to talk about a book he had had to read for one of his modules and while Cody never heard of the book before, he enjoyed seeing how excited Obi-Wan was about it.
Once they got inside their flat, Obi-Wan put his bag, that contained his laptop and some books, on the floor by the door and went into the kitchen. Cody watched him for a moment, glad to see Obi-Wan was distracted making them both some lunch. Cody sat at their table and turned his laptop on and logged into the website where he was creating a photobook of photos of himself and Obi-Wan throughout their lives as a birthday present. There were hundreds of photos of them together over the years they had known each other, there were photos of primary, secondary and sixth form last days. Seeing how they had changed in those years was endearing and funny at the same time. Cody caught Obi-Wan looking over at him and Cody playfully tilted his laptop screen away from Obi-Wan’s view, not that his boyfriend could see it from where he was anyway. Obi-Wan smiled and then turned back to the sandwiches he was making. Obi-Wan knew he was getting his birthday present, just as Cody was aware Obi-Wan was also organising his birthday present, as Obi-Wan’s birthday was two days before Cody’s.
Cody checked through the photobook one last time and then seeing that everything was as he wanted it, he clicked order and waited for the confirmation email to arrive. Once it had, he closed his laptop down and smiled as Obi-Wan, at that moment, walked up to him and handed him a plate with his sandwich and an apple.
“I love you,” Cody said with a smile.
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes fondly, “ah yes. You only love me for my sandwich making skills.”
“You caught me!” chuckled Cody as he held his hands up in defence. They shared a smile and then both began eating their sandwiches in earnest. They chatted about friends from home who had gone to other universities or who went into work, the friends they had made in Manchester, the antics of crazy younger brothers and they also talked about if they wanted to do a Masters degree in their subject and if they did, where should they go? As it wasn’t a question about if they would go together, even if Obi-Wan decided to do a Masters and Cody didn’t, he was still going to move to whichever city Obi-Wan chose to go to for his Masters. But Cody was also liking the idea of doing a history Masters himself. “We could go to London. Wolffe and Fox are both going to do a Masters, we could go to uni with them.”
Obi-Wan frowned at him in amusement. “I thought you loved living in Manchester.”
“I do,” agreed Cody. “But I also want some peace from my brothers.” He added with a faked whining tone.
His boyfriend chuckled and then said. “You could apply to University of Manchester. So, you can stay in the city, but be in a different university to your brothers.”
Cody rolled his eyes. “As if that would stop them just turning up on Uni of’s campus,” he grumbled under his breath. He didn’t even think moving to the moon would stop his brothers from turning up to inconvenience him.
Obi-Wan just chuckled to himself as he shook his head, having to admit that going to Uni of would not stop Rex, Fives and Echo from turning up to see Cody. Within three weeks of starting the academic year, they had already worked out what rooms Cody had his seminars in and at what time they finished, so they could stand outside and wait for him. Despite Cody never once showing them his timetable.
After lunch, Cody began looking through some books for information he could add to his dissertation, while Obi-Wan turned his laptop on to work on one of his assignments. At the sound of an exasperated sigh, Cody looked up with one raised eyebrow to find Obi-Wan glaring at his laptop screen. “Problem?” he prompted lightly.
His boyfriend rolled his eyes and stated, “I hate this. We have a dissertation and other essays we need to complete that count towards our final degree. But then we are asked to write a two-thousand-word essay on the skills we have learnt doing our English degree and how those skills can help us in the workplace. While also having to give examples of jobs that use and need those skills.” Obi-Wan growled in frustration, “it is so pointless, but we have to do it otherwise we can be penalised if we don’t. But it’s wasting our time, we have other more important things to do.”
Cody grimaced and then reached out to squeezed Obi-Wan’s hand. “I totally get your frustration. We have been asked to do the exact same thing.”
Obi-Wan just groaned and thunked his head on the table, “I hate this. This is stress I do not need.” Cody smiled to himself and with his free hand, he ran his fingers through Obi-Wan’s hair, gently scratching at his scalp with his nails.
When Obi-Wan had relaxed, Cody recalled the lecture when he had been told about the assignment and how the career’s department guest lecturer and one of his usual history lecturers asked for people to give examples of skills, they had learnt doing their degree. He must have laughed to himself, because Obi-Wan was turning his head, leaving his face resting against the table top, and gave him an unimpressed glare. “Are you laughing at my pain?”
“No,” soothed Cody, brushing the hair out of Obi-Wan’s eyes. “Just remembering what Bly said in our lecture about the skills we have learnt doing a history degree.”
“Care to share? It might help me out,” asked Obi-Wan.
Cody smirked, “we have learnt to deal with emotionally crippling pain.”
There was a pause, and then Obi-Wan was laughing, his shoulders shaking as he lifted his head up from the table and instead rested it against Cody’s shoulder. “Oh, that’s a good one. I wonder if I could get away with using it?” he mused.
“I have no idea. But like you, I am tempted to use it,” stated Cody, happy to see a bit of life back in Obi-Wan’s eyes. There was nothing more depressing that having to complete a pointless assignment when you had a hundred other things to do that actually mattered for your degree.
They made the collective decision to stop working for the rest of the day, they were both mentally tired and decided they could do with a break. So, they found a film to watch, which led to another film, which led to another, until it was time for them to eat dinner. After they had shared the cooking, eaten and then shared the washing up, they decided to have an early night. Seeing as they both had nine am lectures on campus and arranged to meet in the library afterwards before Cody’s meeting with his dissertation supervisor.
As they stretched out on their bed, Cody pulling Obi-Wan to half lay on top of him, their legs tangled together. Despite the early time of the evening, the warmth and the presence of each other led them both to become drowsy and their eyes flickered heavily.
“Good night Cody,” yawned Obi-Wan, his jaw cracking at the force of the yawn.
“G’night Obi. Love you,” Cody breathed out on a sigh, his eyes closing as he felt himself begin to drift.
“Love you Code,” mumbled Obi-Wan as he pressed his face into the crook of Cody’s neck. With his nose pressed into Obi-Wan’s hair, Cody pressed a kiss against Obi-Wan’s forehead and felt a kiss pressed against his neck in return. With a smile on his face, Cody drifted off into sleep, where university stress faded away until it captured his attention tomorrow, but for now, he was able to sleep peacefully with his boyfriend in his arms.
End note:
I would draw the photo of all the boys in their onesies, but alas I cannot draw so let the image live on in our imaginations.
Also I really enjoyed writing this AU, so if anyone wants to see more from it (including Rex, Fives, Echo, Wolffe, Fox and Anakin) let me know!
I went to Manchester Metropolitan University and as I loved it there so much, I chose to make it the setting for my AU for codywanweek. The road, buildings, halls and park are real places at the university and writing this fic has just made me want to go back there. I couldn’t come up with a degree for Cody so I just gave him my degree and dissertation focus (so yes there does exist a 10,000-word dissertation on the treatment of shell shock in WWI). At MMU we did call the University of Manchester Uni of, to differentiate between the two universities.
The Black Death lasagne analogy does actually exist in a historical book somewhere. I didn’t actually read it, but one of my flatmates in first year, who also did history, did. He was revising for one of our exams and he excitedly burst into the shared kitchen, saw me and geeked out over the funny analogy, we laughed about it, about how it was such a random analogy to use. (But after a few years I still remember it, so I guess it’s useful.) But then one of our other flatmates, who wasn’t studying history, turned around and complained at us, because she was in the process of making lasagne for her dinner. So, the reactions to Fox’s gleeful explanation of the analogy are based on truth. Our flatmate didn’t want to eat her dinner because of us. As I was writing this fic, the analogy popped back into my head and I felt it would be such a Fox thing to say.
Cody’s line of “we have learnt to deal with emotionally crippling pain” during a career’s lecture. Is something that I heard said in a career’s lecture I had to sit through in my second year. So again, something else in this fic that is based on truth.
That's it, By Firelight, my first "serious" Codywan is complete. It hasn't sparked a lot of interest, but I've had a total blast writing it, and ending this on a witty conversation between concerned Sith grandpa Dooku with Feral Himbo Obi-Wan was just an absolute joy.
Can't thank @lukesgucciboots enough for being the best beta and motivator and single-handedly changing the course of the fic by caring so much about the nexu kits lol
Here's a sample of the final chapter :
A droid approaches them with tea-things on a tray, setting it to float between them before disappearing behind a particularly magnificent specimen of skeleton weed. Obi-Wan plucks his cup from the tray, dips an unseemly amount of sugar in it and leans back into the pillows.
'So, you were saying something about me being smug?'
'I wish you'd be more circumspect,' Yan corrects, adjusting course to make his point. 'We're at war. This chef might have been grateful, but you should not lose sight of the fact he's a member of the Republic's army.'
Obi-Wan takes an obnoxiously loud sip of his tea, squinting at Yan over the rim of the cup, all quite on purpose. 'You just dismissed him as a cook.'
'Some blatant classism on my part, I’m sure,' Yan says, waving the argument away. 'Chef or cook, he's a soldier of the GAR and a Jango Fett clone.'
Obi-Wan sighs longingly. 'I know he is. What I didn't know was how kriffing attractive Jango Fett was.'
Yan thanks his lifelong training for helping him not choke on that remark.
'You can't be serious.'
'What am I supposed to answer to that, this time?'
Yan puts down his own tea and rubs the bridge of his nose. In the distance Eeshla yowls, like she’s in sync with his distress somehow.
'Obi-Wan—'
'Yan?'
And to think Qui-Gon had once described the boy as maddeningly meek!
'We're at war.'
'Correction, my dear grandmaster. You are at war. I am but Ma-Iwa's hand, reaching into the world, a humble hunter. I pick up no arms. Not in anyone's name or sake.'
'You need not recite your hunting vows to me. My point stands. There is an ongoing galaxy spanning war.'
'Yes. I admit I've noticed.'
More of Yan's training, kicking in to save him from rolling his eyes.
My Top 10 Ships of 2020
It's been a weird year but I've seen other people doing this. Plus this year I've been way more into gen fics (love a bit of found family especially in clone wars and marvel) than anything shippy. So I genuinely don't know what imma put on here aside from two ships for sure. Sorry this post is super long idk how to do the below the cut thing and I've had this app for 5 years...
10) Viktor Nikiforov and Yuuri Katsuki - Yuri!!! On Ice
It was a real toss up between this, supercorp, kanera and wolfstar cos they're all very integral ships to my fan heart but this son because of the Yuri on Ice fandom's rebirth this year. I've never stopped shipping this, never stopped reading fanfic of them for any extended period of time, they're still my most bookmarked ship on ao3 (although I think now star wars - all media types may have overtaken them for fandom). They were one of the first things I watched where the queer ship I loved became canon and I can't wait for the film (and hopefully someday a season 2). Heck I even made my mum watch Yuri on Ice with me so I think that says it all.
Tumblr media
9) Edelgard Von Hresvelg and female Byleth - Fire Emblem: Three Houses
My first fire emblem game was fates when I was like 14 (and finally gay awake lol). I was so disappointed that I had to be with a guy character because the only female option was kinda creepy and also I wouldn't get the character of kana. So when three houses came out I was so happy because finally there were beautiful incredible female characters my female byleth could romance (I'm so sorry mlm you deserved so much more than you got). I got the game as soon as it came out (had to search a lot of shops let me tell you) and started on black eagles. I was actually kinda disappointed back in 2019. I didn't like the explore the monastery bit (still find it kinda tedious) and the battle mechanics weren't quite the same as fates (no pairing up?! Aka my main battle technique for protecting the weaker units). So I got like 20 hours in and put it down. Came back to it in lockdown and finally finished it! I'm so proud of myself I virtually never finish games. And I fully fell in love with the useless lesbian edelgard in the process. When I started back playing in 2020 I was like eh I wish I'd picked a different character to romance (like shes an emperor that's morally very shady) but then the romance stuff started with edelgard and I fell the heck in love.
Tumblr media
8) Cory Matthews and Shawn Hunter (and Topanga Lawrence) - Boy Meets World
Disney+ was released in the UK this year and I finally got the opportunity to watch boy meets world in its best quality (aka not on YouTube). I watched it back when I was like 12 or 13 and it's such a nostalgic show for me. Watching it again I still absolutely adore it (and my bi ass was low-key crushing on Shawn especially in chick like me - I'm 18 btw and I got so scared for a sec but rider strong was 18 when chick like me came out so it's fine woah). And of course now I see the possibilities of the beautiful Cory and Shawn relationship like they were so bromance it was basically romance and throw in topanga it's the perfect ot3 (but I'm also fine with just Cory and Shawn or just Cory and Topanga). Read some good fanfic for them this year. My favourite was one about Shawn stealing makeup and stuff and exploring gender (need more fics like this I'm biiii).
Tumblr media
7) Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes - Marvel Cinematic Universe
I rewatched all the MCU films this year too. And got really into Peter parker whump and irondad. Plus my eternal obsession with identity and relationship reveals of course led me from Spiderman identity reveals (and found family cuteness) to stucky coming out. Especially when it involves the internet and social media. Not my favourite ship but it's been significant to my year due to the sheer amount of marvel stuff I've read.
Tumblr media
6) Satine Kryze and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars
I rewatched clone wars in prep for season 7 and wow Satine's death was sad and sudden. She first appeared in S2 E13 I think and just the sheer sexual tension of their bickering. "The sarcasm of a soldier. The delusion of a dreamer." Just ugnnhhh my bi ass can't take much more of this. And Anakin just sipping his wine in the background grinning. And I fully believe korkie is a Kenobi.
Tumblr media
5) Commander Cody and Obi Wan Kenobi - Star Wars
I am very much an Obi wan multishipper. I don't really have a favourite but I fully believe he was with satine and Quinlan in his life. I don't think be would've actually done anything with Cody because of the whole superior officer thing. And this probably isn't even my favourite Obi wan ship - that honour probably goes to quinobi or obitine. However the most popular ships in the fandom are codywan, quiobi and obikin. No offence to anyone who ships these they're just personally not to my taste, but I can't stand quiobi, and obikin I find only slightly more tolerable and I think that's just because there's so much obikin content so if I like the concept of a fic that happens to be obikin I'll read it. I'm just not a fan of the mentor/student relationships. So I generally favoured the codywan fics when there was shipping involved meaning I read a lot of them this year. Needed that nice fix it content post season 7.
Tumblr media
4) Zuko and Katara - Avatar: the Last Airbender
Again I am a multishipper I have nothing against zukka it's cute. But I'm a zutara shipper first and foremost because when I first watched avatar I was like 13 and denying my gayness and gayness in general so I shipped the straight things and the straight things only. Most of these ships I stopped shipping - dramione, spuffy, some my little pony ones which we don't talk about. Zutara stayed. (I have nothing against any of the things I used to ship I just stopped shipping them so much/shipped new things more). I've continuously shipped zutara since I first watched avatar even if I didn't necessarily spend that much time on it it has always been here as one of my favourite ships. It has such good fanfic I swear including my favourite ever fanfic from any fandom - love thy enemy. Plus like the black games (reread this for the millionth time this year), a delicate subterfuge (which I read for the first time this year and damn it's so good) and so many more. With the avatar resurgence this year I haven't actually rewatched avatar aside from my normal random episode every now and then when I feel like it. But there's been a lot of avatar on my dash from people I follow getting into it and people I followed for avatar returning so naturally I returned to the fandom and read quite a lot of fanfic. I also read just a lot of avatar gen fics which were great at the whole found family thing I've been so obsessed with this year.
Tumblr media
3) Catra and Adora - She Ra and the Princesses of Power
Catradora is canon! They kissed! What more is there to say. Arguably they should've been top but I never shipped them that much since I was always very much a multishipper when it came to she ra so yes I was very happy it became canon because we actually won for once but also I've never read much fanfic for them etc. But they are very much a dynamic I love and watching she ra all again in prep for season 5 I really enjoyed the build up of their relationship. The other two only go above because Buffy is my favourite show ever and damn there's some good fuffy fanfic and Aphra and Tolvan is both fresh in my mind and star wars owns me. Would love some catradora fic recs btw if anyone has them tho.
Tumblr media
2) Buffy Summers and Faith Lehane - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I didn't realise it was last year that I got super into them but according to my ao3 bookmarks it was lol. 2020 I swear it's lasted an eternity. I got into them about a month before lockdown (which feels like another lifetime). I've loved Buffy since I first watched it when I was 13. It's arguably still my favourite TV show. I've been through a lot of ships for Buffy - bangel to spuffy and now fuffy. I still think angel and her were a beautiful ship back in season 2 and especially in the angel episode I will remember you. But faith and Buffy had so much chemistry in season 3 - she would've been a fresh start for Buffy and the amount of fix it fics I read I swear. My favourite has to be one where they met in LA during Anne and how that changed everything feat Buffy's internal homophobia.
Tumblr media
1) Cheili Lona Aphra and Magna Tolvan - Star Wars
I read Darth Vader (2015) and Doctor Aphra (2016) for the first time at the end of 2020 (got a comic subscription which has served me very well already I've nearly finished the star wars canon comics). Just to see canon queer ladies in star wars was so magical for me as a queer lady. I didn't think star wars would be so overt yet as to have a queer kiss in canon (even if it's in the comics) and especially not with the main character of arguably their main comic series. Now we just gotta hope that we'll get it in live action someday soon. They weren't the ship I consumed the most content of in 2020 but they were the highlight of my 2020 because star wars did that and I finally found out about it
Tumblr media
Honourable mentions: Vivian and Elle - Legally Blonde, Candace and Vanessa - Phineas and Ferb, Stevie and Alex - Wizards of Waverly Place, Xander and Spike - Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I actually don't ship this but damn some authors are good - this was the ship that made me realise I don't need to like a ship if the author is good enough to write it well), Eli Vanto and Mitth'raw'nuruodo - Star Wars (started reading the books last year but finished this year and only started with fanfic this year), Villanelle and Eve - Killing Eve, Kanan and Hera - Star Wars, Barriss and Ahsoka - Star Wars, Remus and Sirius - Harry Potter, Kara and Lena - Supergirl (let's hope this becomes canon next year!) (Those last four are ones I've shipped forever some of my og ships but nothing particularly big has happened for me this year with them so)
I got Disney+ this year so rewatched a fair few things from my youth and though hey my obsession with that character may have been a little gay.
I dare you to write an Ani5 fix-it fic. I will not be taking criticism and will die on the hill that this is the most powerful ship and could’ve saved the entire clone wars. Bonus points if it features the ship Mace Windu/headaches (bc anakin is a walking mess of shatterpoints and lives to annoy Mace). Codywan to help knock some sense into anakin would also be top tier. I LOVE YOU ZEPH’BUIR
(of course i can’t do a whole fix-it in a quick prompt answer, but i think i’ve set it up for a far happier ending than in canon! support communication and education in relationships (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) and also adhd clones.
fives might be the most i’ve ever struggled with a character (‘cept maybe ahsoka....) so it took a little while to figure out how to write this scene in a way i liked. also, had to go and watch fives clips to try and get my autism brain working, and BOY HOWDY do i actually hate dbb’s take on the clones, especially the accent but everything else too. their character designs make me want to cry. so i’m begging, for me, to imagine this fives like this especially because then we get Tol Anakin and a Smol Clone BF and i think that is a seriously underutilised dynamic.
thank you for the prompt, ad, and for cursing me with this ship in the first place. someday i’ll get around to actually writing them as the battle husbands they are 🧡)
Alt+R to quick reblog on desktop, Hold the reblog symbol to quick reblog on mobile
  Echo's always been good with programming, but Fives is better with the actual building. He's not any good with inventing, maybe, but putting things together? Opening them up and knowing immediately what's wrong? Fives would even say he enjoys it — and being able to talk shop with Skywalker like they're nobody mechanics from the Outer Rim instead of General and Soldier makes the long hyperjumps between missions actually bearable.
  How that led to him sitting in a rarely used hallway on the Resolute with Skywalker ("Anakin," he keeps insisting with a smile), both leant over a mouse droid in pieces on a drop cloth, Fives isn't really sure. It probably had something to do with Skywalker's excited bounce when he'd come to ask if Fives wanted to help him, the sparkle in his eye reminding Fives just how young the both of them are. How, technically, he's older than Anakin.
  Because, yeah, he is Anakin, not Skywalker, when they're like this. With his growing knight cut a curly untamed cloud around his ears, grease smeared on the underside of his jaw, with Fives stripped down to his blacks from the waist up, with even his blasters set on the floor next to them.
  With it quickly becoming clear that Anakin doesn't actually need help to rewire the mouse droid, but had asked for Fives to join him anyways.
  They've been at it for a few hours now, their jokes winding down to companionable quiet as they both work on separate parts of the droid. It honestly might have been easier to start from a scrap droid than try to rewire this one correctly, but it's easy work Fives could do blindfolded, and sharing the mutually-focused silence is actually quite nice.
  Anakin is elbow-deep in the outer casing when he finally asks, "Do the clones feel love?"
  And Fives almost gets up and walks away. He knows not every battalion ended up with a good Jedi, that the 212th and the 501st had been so kriffing lucky to end up with "The Team", but sometimes he forgets. Maybe that's the worst part of it: slow, personal moments like this, Fives forgets he's not natborn and bearer of a face shared with millions. Being around his general makes him forget, and maybe he had taken that for granted until now.
  Or maybe it's for that reason that he hesitates from storming off, because Anakin had been the one to name Alpha, to insist on giving them proper leave, to defend them from anyone who talks down at them even if they're a planetary leader. And Rex had said something, once, about Anakin’s brain working in either/ors, being hardwired in some way to only see in black and white and believing that if you're one thing, you can't be another. That what Anakin says isn't always what he means.
  So instead, he asks, "What kind of love are we talkin'?"
  Anakin refuses to raise his head, and Fives can almost see him stressing about how to phrase this.  "Y'know, grand romance and stuff. One-and-onlys and holodrama romcom propaganda and imagining growing old together."
  "'Not quite sure what you're asking, sir." He takes a deep breath. "The short answer is yes, we can and do feel that, but the long answer is I can't speak for every brother, and I would not want to. Some of us don't feel that." Shrugging, he passes Anakin a socket wrench before he can ask for it. "But it's not because we can't, not because of the longnecks. We're bred to be obedient, sir, not emotionless."
  Quiet settles over them again while Anakin processes this, his mouth twisted rather horribly. Fives starts to think he would do a whole awful lot to turn that frown back into a haughty smile.
  "What do you really want to ask, General?"
  "I'm married to Senator Amidala."
  Now, everyone with eyes knows that. Maybe Torrent knows even better, when they've been covering for their general for over a year now, and clearly the Jedi just aren't doing anything about it — but Fives also knows Anakin has never actually told anyone about this, not even General Kenobi. Rex says Anakin still thinks they've been discreet.
  "If I may be blunt, sir, this is not news."
  And Anakin actually laughs at that, shaking his head as he tosses down his tools to stare at the opposite wall instead. Fives watches his gaze go distant, somewhere far away from the Resolute lost in the middle of space. “I’ve loved her since I was nine years old, Fives. I loved her through not seeing her for a decade, through her assassination attempts and the First Battle of Geonosis and becoming a knight, and I...”
  Fives sighs once. “No one said you had to stay in love, sir.”
  “But that’s just it,” he groans. “I’ve never known how to do anything else, how to be anything else. I don’t... know who I am without it.”
  He has to look away from Anakin, then, because he’s seen brothers go stupid for people they meet on campaigns, or for their Jedi, and Fives isn’t nearly as young as some of the shinies out there, but he knows what it looks like, when they leap in without thinking. He lets out a long, slow breath, his eyes falling on the ‘saber at Anakin’s hip. “Permission to speak freely, sir?”
  Anakin blinks at him, and nods.
  “That’s too young to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life.” Fives raises a brow at his general’s startled expression, which is maybe more amusing (endearing) than it has any business being. “General, you’re barely an adult, just the same as the vode. If my mental timeline is right, you weren’t even twenty standard when you married Amidala, which, frankly, was reckless and unfair on her part.”
  “Padmé would never–”
  “I don’t mean intentionally, sir. The fact of the matter is, no wonder you don’t know who you are without her, because you’ve always had her.” That decade of no contact notwithstanding, considering Anakin didn’t not have her, either. “Senator Amidala knew who and what she was before you, and she’ll know who and what she is without you.”
  “That’s not quite fair,” Anakin grumbles, but his throat is flushed in what Fives hopes is entirely appropriate guilt, or at the very least embarrassment. “It was my idea to get married after Geonosis.”
  Fives snorts. “The idea of a child thrown into war, afraid to lose anything.”
  “You’re being uncharacteristically candid, Fives.”
  “Respectfully, sir, the last thing you need is to be coddled.” His general laughs again, this time good and bright in a way he hasn’t heard before; and then Fives can’t help what he admits next. “We weren’t allowed toys, or anything.”
  Laughter cutting off abruptly, Anakin’s eyes grow haunted instead. There might not be anyone else in the galaxy with quite the same experience as the clones, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t those that understand.
  “Hevy made me and Echo– Well, he said they were mythosaurs like Kal taught us about, but they looked more like sad loth cats. He cut up his own bedsheet to make ‘em, and couldn’t tell the longnecks what he’d done with it, so he just slept on the bare mattress.”
  “Fives...”
  But it’s clear Anakin doesn’t actually know what to say, so Fives pushes on. “Some of Fett’s instructors tried to teach us Mando’a, you know? I think Spar is the only brother that ever got fluent, the rest of us have been making up words and combining them with Basic and Kaminoan and whatever else the Cuy’val Dar spoke that sometimes we don’t even remember what language they are anymore.”
  “I didn’t learn Basic until I was five.” Anakin thunks his head onto the wall behind him with a sigh, the mouse droid forgotten at his feet. “Other padawans always told me I was lucky Master Obi-Wan knew Huttese.” Ahh, kark, his general had been a Hutt salve; at least the spice runners made sure their slaves could communicate with their customers. “I couldn’t read a word of Aurebesh when I first came to the Temple, though to be fair, I couldn’t read anything else, either.”
  “You grow up around other kids?”
  “Yeah, my mom and I lived in the biggest slave slum on Tatooine.”
  Fives doesn’t need to tell him how lucky he was just to have had their own quarters. “I think, sir, that the vode know better than you think, what it’s like always standing on the edge of losing everything.”
  Squeezing his eyes closed, Anakin inhales sharply and clenches his fists over his knees. “What happened? To your mythosaur toys?”
  “One of the longnecks found them while we were in training, ‘threw them out before we got back. I think Hevy was even more upset than we were.”
  The leather glove over his prosthesis creaks as he tightens his grip on his own palms. “Was it easy? To just... forget about them?”
  “Of course not,” Fives snorts and crosses his arms, “we were the equivalent of eight standard at the time, but we honestly didn’t have a choice. As we got a little older, we stopped trying to put meaning in things, because we weren’t allowed things. Our names are our only real possession, even our armor can be taken from us, but we will not, cannot, let anyone take our names.”
  Groaning, Anakin scrubs his hands over his face before pushing himself up to finally look at Fives properly. He still doesn’t speak for a moment, just watching him, then teases flatly, “You’ve been spending too much time with Cody and Obi-Wan, you’re starting to speak in riddles.”
  “They are riddles only to you, sir.” He offers a small smile, and is only slightly disappointed when Anakin doesn’t return it.
  Instead, he lets out a winded breath. “So. You’re saying that it’s not easy to let go of even small things, but we must. And then there are things that we shouldn’t let go of?”
  “Some things aren’t ours to keep.”
  Anakin swallows. “Like Padmé,”
  “Like any person, no matter what sort of love we have for them.”
  Groaning, Anakin pulls his knees back up close and drops his face into his arms. “But I still love her.”
  Knowing that this is not a new problem, that General Kenobi has been trying to teach his general this for as long as they’ve known each other, Fives takes a moment to consider. “You don’t really have to stop loving her.”
  “But you said–”
  “You think I stop loving my brothers when they die?”
  Whether or not it’s healthy to hold onto affections for someone after a romantic relationship is a conversation for another time, Fives decides, and leans over to pick up where Anakin had left off with the droid.
  “General, it sounds to me like you already know all this,” he says, twisting a wire into the grip of his glove to yank it from the motor. “And  that you’re digging your feet in — which is the crux of the problem, isn’t it?”
  “You sound like Obi-Wan,” he groans, but doesn’t deny it.
  “Hmm, well, at least we’re still just kids.”
  Anakin very slowly looks up from his arms, just enough for Fives to see his wide eyes. “What do you...?”
  “Well, we’ve still got time to learn, don’t we?” Fives raises his eyebrow as he fits the new wire into the motor and starts to close all the panels back up. “I still think about Hevy and Droidbait and Cutup, and honestly, I still think about Echo’s and my mythosaurs. That’s not a bad thing, I don’t think, not even the Jedi would think that’s bad. I’m still angry when my vode don’t get funerals and I honestly hold that against the Chancellor and the Jedi both. But I don’t get to go back to Kamino and take my anger out on the longneck that took our toys, and I’m... working on it, not being so angry with the generals. I’m still angry. But I know the Jedi have about as much say in all of this as we do, and I know burying my brothers won’t bring them back. So I’m working on it.”
  “I... don’t have to be good at it all at once.”
  “Great Maker, General, just because you’re the Chosen One doesn’t mean you have to actually be good at absolutely everything from the start. You just have to try, and you still have time to.”
  He looks up and finds Anakin already smiling back. “Fives, I could kiss you.”
  “Considering it sounds like Senator Amidala just divorced you, I think that’s a very bad idea, sir.”
  “Bah, you’re no fun.”
  Fives feigns offense, “This mouse droid we’ve rigged to follow Captain Rex around and scream says differently.”
-
  The night the 501st returns to the Resolute after finally (kriffing finally) leaving Umbara, Fives finds a hand-sewn stuffed mythosaur on his bunk, with a string collar and a dogtag etched with CT-782.
-
Mando’a: Cuy’val Dar — “Those who no longer exist”, group of 75 Mando’ade and 25 others put together by Jango to train the clones vod/e —  “brother/s, comrade/s, sibling/s”, technically gender neutral but used most often in fandom as “brother/s” (*in this context, fives is using brothers as gender neutral as well, because you won’t take trans and nb clones even from my cold dead hands*)
ooh, 10, 21, 27 for the writing asks?
Hi friend!! Thanks so much for the ask!!
10--how do you do your researches?
I delve deep into Wookiipedia for most Star Wars things, but then I also use some of the SW books for research too. Like sometimes I'll be writing a fic that references events from RoTS or a legends novel--writing the ending of Bloodlines, I used to ROTS Novelization to get the beginning of the last chapter right, in those moments right before Anakin and Obi-Wan duel Dooku again. I also used that book to make sure all my events could fit in there chronologically like missing scenes.
And then there's the real life stuff, like when I need to know whether a certain physics or medical thing is accurate, or how space works lol. And I definitely use books or the internet too, but I also have the good luck of living with my dad who is a giant nerd, so I can ask things like "hey would replacing a standard diode with an LED on a radio-like device make it work?" and not only will he give me an answer, he'll TRY IT TO CHECK??? (He also thinks I'm a criminal rn because I'm writing a fic where someone is embezzling money and I keep asking about the most successful ways to get away with it lmao. But jokes on him bc he knows the answers so who's the REAL criminal dad?)
21—least favorite character to write
Weirdly enough I think it might actually be...Cody? I LOVE Cody, believe me I have read MANY a Cody-centric or codywan fic but he's really hard for me to write because he barely speaks in canon, and I soooo do not have his voice down. With other characters I hear the lines in my head in their voices, but with Cody I just feel like there's a lot of guesswork on my part lol
27--best review you ever got
Ahhhh does your art of When the Music Stops count as a review?? Because the fact that you liked it enough to do that just makes me 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Also, pretty much any time I get a review that pulls out specific lines from the fic they liked makes my heart explode (@lightasthesun you've brought me near tears on more than one occasion :'))))
Inútil; Useless
Because poor Cody has had a roller coaster of emotions after thinking Obi-Wan died. He's on Coruscant when he gets a com to meet Anakin at a docking bay, but he finds his dead general. Okay obviously this is a Codywan fic.
─── ❖ ── ✦ ── ❖ ───
The Commander has been silent. Locked away in the Guard Building working and working. Fox and Thorn had checked in regularly until Cody had thrown an empty bottle of scotch at them. The two warned everyone to get out of Cody's way and to never talk to him. There have been a few cases, he'd scream and assign the poor trooper a heavy workload. Cody would work and drink the day away. Fox and Thorn didn't comment on him drinking, for Cody's work hadn't failed to meet the standards.
They knew their brother wasn't well, he needed help, but whenever confronted, he'd lash out and bring misery upon his confronter. Eventually, they'd expressed their worry to the Jedi and the Chancellor; Palpatine had insisted on getting their best Commander the help he so obviously needed, but the Jedi didn't want to give Cody that help, saying soon he would be fine. Bullshit, they'd thought. Absolute bullshit. Cody wasn't alright. Thorn and Fox had come back to the guard building cursing the Jedi when they saw Cody marching out of there. They watched him until he was flying away in a ship.
Cody stood in the ship, arms crossed. General Skywalker had commed him to a landing pad. He knew he'd find the General and his Captain offering their hand to help. They'd gone to the Naboo celebration, maybe they thought he'd 'come to his senses' and accept his help. Cody let out a 'tsk' as he shook his head. He wanted to be alone, now was that too hard to understand? When the ship landed he stepped out, taking his helmet off, "General Skywalker, I told you-"
"Uh, Anakin couldn't make it, so he sent me," Cody's head instantly shot up at the sound of the man's voice. He dropped his helmet at the sight of, of Obi-Wan. Now that didn't make sense! Obi-Wan was dead! Cody shook his head, taking a step back, "Cody?" Obi-Wan spoke, it sent a shiver running up the man's spine. The two were face to face now, Obi-Wan reached out and placed his hand on Cody's shoulder, who still couldn't form a single word. He couldn't believe it. At the feeling of Obi-Wan's touch, he felt his knees give out as it went black.
Cody had been brought to the medbay after he'd fallen. The shock of seeing Obi-Wan alive was too much and Cody blacked out. So he'd been brought to the medbay and Obi-Wan sat at his bedside waiting for Cody to awake. He held Cody's hand, pressing it to his lips as he meditated to try and calm his worry. For several hours, Obi-Wan held Cody's hand and waited.
Cody eventually snapped awake, "General!" He'd screamed, he felt himself being set back in the bed, he looked over and saw Obi-Wan, he really was here. "S-sir?" Cody moved his head closer as he studied the man's cleanly shaven face. He reached out, rubbing his bruised hands over Obi-Wan's smooth cheeks, "You're alive?" Cody asked in a whimper, "You're alive..." He told himself as Obi-Wan smiled.
"Yes, I am," he spoke as he moved to sit on the bed. Cody's eyes were wide, he really didn't believe it. "I'm sorry for all the pain I must've put you through, but-" Obi-Wan found himself being inturrupted by Cody pulling him into a kiss. Their walls fell down as they embraced each other. When Cody pulled away, his eyes were watery, holding Obi-Wan's face in his hands, he kissed him yet again.
"I thought you were dead, you, you were dead-" Cody cried as he studied the man's face, "What- how are you here?" He stumbled, shaking his head in disbelief. Praying to his maker this wasn't a dream, he found himself pulling his General into another kiss, this couldn't be a dream, the rush of feeling Obi-Wan's lips against his told the Commander this was real. Obi-Wan was really here.
Obi-Wan let out a chuckle, feeling his face flush, "Oh, Cody, it was a mission," he began to explain, holding Cody's hands tightly, "There was a plan to assassinate the Chancellor, the man supposed to be behind it was being kept at our prison, the Council had me fake my death so that I may go undercover as my killer"
"So," Cody pieced together everything Obi-Wan had said, there was one thing Cody didn't understand, "Why didn't you tell me?" Cody asked, "I was on a mission, I couldn't have compromised yours." Obi-Wan nodded, he had suspected Cody to say that.
"I wanted to tell you, but the Council had to keep this mission confidential... I know I should have told you, I wanted to, but I couldn't even tell Anakin, and you know how close I am with Anakin. It was vital to keep everyone on the outside, even if you weren't going to be near me, the Council didn't want to risk anything." He explained his reasoning and maybe if Cody was just Obi-Wan's commander, he'd understand. But he wasn't, he had held Obi-Wan in a way he shouldn't. He had kissed him, embraced him and knew every part of the man in front of him. Obi-Wan should have told him, not as a Commander, but as someone he loved. But Obi-Wan seemed to have pushed that thought out of his mind, and that made Cody mad.
"Anyone?" He spoke after a few minutes, "Obi-Wan, I'm not anyone, I- I wasn't even gonna be on Coruscant! I was gonna be on a mission! You knew I was gonna be on a mission! So who would I tell?" Cody argued, his tone growing upset. "Do you know how much pain your death brought to our men? How much pain it brought to me?!" Cody's voice raised, he restrained himself from growing any louder though, "I thought you'd trust your Commander, and spare me of that pain.."
Obi-Wan looked down and frowned, "I know Cody, but even as my Commander, I couldn't tell you. I know you understand how serious this mission was, and how vital it was that I succeed" Cody let go of Obi-Wan's hands, scanning his face, "Cody, the Chancellor could have and would have died."
Cody wanted to smack Obi-Wan and he did. He simply couldn't help himself, so hurt at the way Obi-Wan easily dismissed Cody's feelings, "What about me! Obi-Wan what about me!? I thought you had died!" He screamed loudly, sitting up searching Obi-Wan's eyes, "I wanted to die! I didnt want to live without you!" Obi-Wan's eyes were glazed over, and that only fueled Cody's broken rage. Obi-Wan looked as if he wasn't really listening, he was just waiting for Cody to finish speaking. He didn't care, how could he not care!? In this moment Cody found himself filling with hurt, wanting to cry and fall apart in Obi-Wan's arms for hurting him, oh but Cody was also angry, too angry to fall apart, too angry to love General Kenobi.
"Cody" Obi-Wan let a soft sigh slip past his lips "... I couldn't tell you. But I wasn't allowed to tell anyone, I wasn't allowed to tell General Skywalker, Captain Rex, Commander Tano, no one, Cody, please, I know you understand" he pleaded as he tried to get a reading of what Cody would say next. But his feelings were spiraling, twisting and turning until he flooded with angry.
"Obi-Wan! I didn't mean as a Commander, I meant as-" Cody snapped before turning away, he felt his hot tears fall from his face. How could Obi-Wan not understand that he'd broken Cody's heart? And that he didn't even think of him, not in the way Cody did. Why had Obi-Wan only thought of him as a Commander? Cody gritted his teeth and he clenched his fists. He loved Obi-Wan and he was so certain Obi-Wan had loved him too. 'I guess I was wrong' He snapped away as he felt Obi-Wan reach his hand out to try to comfort him, "Get out-" Cody hissed.
"Cody-"
"Get out!"He screamed as he turned ragefully to Obi-Wan, the man snapped back, sensing Cody's complete and utter rage, "I said GET OUT!" Cody sat up more and Obi-Wan hurried to his feet knowing he better leave. In this moment he didn't recognize Cody, not at all. Never before had Cody been this angry. He hardly even got angry. Obi-Wan could feel Cody's raging glare, so much anger was in him that he was shaking. Before he left, Obi-Wan turned in the door way looking to Cody who had fixated his gaze away from the Jedi to the floor, his face dressed in shame. Obi-Wan sighed as he left, standing outside the closed door for a moment, letting out a sigh before walking away. Cody blinked away his tears as he looked up to the door and saw Obi-Wan really had left. He bit his lip, "He really left," Cody spoke, he didn't know why he was surprised Obi-Wan left, Obi-Wan always left and left Cody feeling so useless, the only difference this time from all the other times Obi-Wan had abandoned him was,
"I told him to..."
WIP Challenge
WIP Challenge 😁❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍❤😁🤩🤩  Rules: tell us the titles of all the WIPs you are currently working on right now and a little about them. Then tag five other writers.
Thank you so much to @outpastthemoat for the tag! <3 <3 <3
I wasn't kidding the other day when I said I have 36 files in my In Progress folder 😅 So I'm not going to post all of them. I'm leaving out quite a few shorter prompt fills I'm working on, a few I haven’t actually gotten past the daydreaming stage for yet, as well as a few that I really don't know how I'll move forward on.
Details below the cut, since it's long. Please note that some fics are E rated. Fics are divided by pairing (obikin, dinluke, quiobi, and other/gen)
Feel free to ask me about any of these by the way--I love talking about fic!
obikin/vaderwan
eastwest
Anakin was raised a Sith, Obi-Wan a Jedi. Vader is cursed to never be able to show his face until a Jedi comes to love him. After Vader kills his Master the Emperor, he puts out a demand: one of the Jedi must come to him or he will destroy the few who remain.
Obi-Wan, naturally, sacrifices himself.
This is basically a mix of East of the Sun and West of the Moon, Beauty and the Beast, Cupid and Psyche, and Hades and Persephone. I've posted a small snippet on tumblr here.
This will be a longer, chaptered work, which I won't start posting until I've finished game plan.
exhaustion habits
For a prompt for the lines “Come on, now, Master, I couldn’t possibly carry you with more dignity” and “Obi-Wan had known exhaustion with a brutal intimacy for years” from my phone notes prompts. Order 66 doesn’t happen, and the Republic wins the war. Now that the war is over, however, Obi-Wan is so used to running on nothing but fumes that he finds it difficult to sleep if he's anything less than flat out exhausted. Since he still has to run himself ragged before he can rest, he thus keeps falling asleep in the most random places. Anakin is determined to do something about it.
game plan (chapter 2)
The second chapter of my fic in which Anakin was raised a Sith, Obi-Wan a Jedi, and they keep meeting during the Clone Wars. This was meant to be a more lighthearted Vaderwan fic than I usually write and I'm really loving it so far. There will be five chapters total, and I have them all pretty well planned out--I just need to work my way through my writing anxiety and finish them! In this second chapter, Vader has captured Obi-Wan (again) and is taking him back to his ship--but their shuttle has a bit of a malfunction and they're stranded. I've posted two brief snippets on tumblr, here and here.
light of day
The companion piece to dreamfield; Vader finds Obi-Wan on Tatooine, as suggested by my friend Scruffy! I've posted a snippet of this on tumblr here.
in darkness and light
My soulmates AU in which Anakin is raised a Sith and Obi-Wan a Jedi (are you…seeing a pattern here??? 😂) I’ve posted two brief snippet of this on tumblr, here and here! This will be chaptered, and I won’t be starting to post it until after game plan is done.
to have and to hold (part 5)
This is the fifth part of to have and to hold, for a prompt in which Obi-Wan and Anakin first sleep together. My lips are sealed as to the rest.
to have and to hold (part 6)
For a prompt in which Obi-Wan makes a misstep—and Anakin unknowingly comforts him.
to have and to hold (part 7)
For a prompt wanting to know a bit more about Bail and the twins. Obi-Wan learns some information he wishes he didn’t know—because if he doesn’t know it, he can never accidentally share it.
untitled omega!Obi-Wan
This for a prompt that asked for more in the unexceptional timing world! It will be a prequel (or can also be completely standalone). Obi-Wan, after all, has to get pregnant somehow 👀 I've posted a small snippet on tumblr here.
untitled prompt
For a prompt for the line "I'm sorry but.. Who are you?" Obi-Wan and Anakin are undercover. Shenanigans ensue! 👀
dinluke
nightmares (working title)
Din and Luke have just recently gotten together, but Luke never wants to spend the full night with Din. Luke finally confesses to Din that he has nightmares that he’s afraid of disturbing Din with. This is a big of an angstier piece than I normally do for dinluke, delving a bit into the PTSD that both Din and Luke experience.
stars shine down (on us and our love) (chapter 3)
The third chapter of my dinluke romcom, in which Leia hires Luke a bounty hunter to help out at his Jedi academy. In chapter 3, we move back to Luke's point of view the morning after Din first arrives on Yavin IV. I’m quite late getting this one done--I’m sorry! 😣
teach me (to know you) (chapter 2)
I am still planning to write this 😅 It picks up pretty much immediately after chapter 1 and is, uhh, very spicy.
untitled political au
Luke and Din are both senators. Luke was raised in politics, Din didn't even run for office and was elected because so many people put his name as a write in because they love him so much. Din and Luke fall in love around long and grueling committee meetings.
quiobi
all roads lead
Qui-Gon’s gone missing and the Council believes him to be dead. Obi-Wan refuses to believe it—and is determined to find him. I’ve been working on this for almost a year now and am hoping to finish it in the next couple of months!
 beyond the greystone walls
The second part of my QuiObi Witcher AU. In this ‘verse, Qui-Gon is a Witcher who refuses to actually kill monsters, and Obi-Wan is a Sorcerer. In this specific part, Qui-Gon learns that Obi-Wan is being held captive and goes to rescue him—only to learn he’s ruined Obi-Wan’s undercover mission. Whoops.
  legends and stars (chapter 2)
The second chapter of my imperial au, which is a secret santa gift for chibiobiwan. Palpatine came to power about twenty years before he does in canon; Obi-Wan becomes an Imperial officer instead of a Jedi, but keeps hearing rumours about the rebel leader Qui-Gon Jinn. This will be 5 chapters and an epilogue, and my goal is to get it all wrapped up in the next couple of months. The second chapter picks up right where the last one left off, with Obi-Wan having just landed on Tython.
 The Trials and Tribulations of Master Kenobi, Gentleman (chapter 2)
The second chapter of my QuiObi Regency AU! Which I am still working on! I swear! This fic will be four chapters, of which only one is posted. In the first chapter, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan met in the library of their gentleman’s club. Now, it’s time for Obi-Wan to go home to his family estate of Stewjon for the summer. When he arrives, it’s to learn that his family is in a tizzy about their new neighbour, Master Skywalker—whose best friend and advisor is currently staying with him. I wonder who that is.
untitled
This is for a university AU prompt! I adore university AUs! In this one, we have Professor Kenobi--and Qui-Gon, who has gone back to school many years after his first degree to complete a second. Professor Kenobi just wants to finish the conference paper he has to give in a few days. Why are all the books he needs signed out of the library, when he hasn’t even assigned these poets on his syllabus? Who is reading his damn poets? And can he, like...marry them?
other/gen
a beautiful day in the senate
A Clone Wars, Qui-Gon lives AU! This one is Qui-Gon & Ahsoka gen. Qui-Gon has business at the Senate--and why not take his great-grand padawan along with him so they can spend the day together? Alas, their quiet day out turns into a bit of a catastrophe when there’s disaster in the Senate. I’ve posted a brief snippet of this here.
snowblooms
My top secret Codywan fic 👀 It involves books. And slowly falling in love.
untitled
A post-Wild Space Bail & Obi-Wan gen fic which I am super excited about. It’s a 5 times fic—based on a line in the book where Bail thinks of Obi-Wan: “And best of all, I don’t have a single thing he wants. How often do I meet someone who wants nothing from me?” So it’s five times Obi-Wan actually did want something of Bail—but the thinks are things like, he wants Bail to have survived order 66 etc. I just love their friendship so much.
Tagging (with absolutely no pressure to do this!) @tessiete , @acatbyanothername93 , @antheiasilva , @darkisrising , @xeniaraven !!!
Hey Kali!!! Any chance you’d be down to make a Sith!Obi-Wan rec list? Obvs there’s a ton of fics from this past Codywan week, but just curious if you’ve seen any other Sith!Obi fics! :) Thank uuuu!!!
Hello Anon!!!! I'm sorry to say that I accidentally deleted your other ask about what ship you wanted, but don't worry! I did read it before I deleted it lol.
Also, I wanted to get this up yesterday, but I...had kind of a rough day because of work. I'm not very rested, but I'm feeling much better and I now present to you your list!!!
Oh, you've probably read all of these. I don't have too many codywan sith Obi-Wan fics at the moment. LMAO JUST REALIZED THE REASON I DON'T HAVE VERY MANY IS BECAUSE I NEVER GOT TO BOOKMARKING ALL THE CODYWANWEEK SITH AU FICS SO THERE'S THAT
That being said, I did rec a few of this years fics, which I realize you mentioned in the ask....lol whoops. I'm also saying that you should read all of the sith au fics from the event.
There are also a few that aren't codywan at the very end. I listed the ship (if it has one) if you're interested.
Oh, and I didn't put any spicy fics in this rec list!!! If I did, and didn't realize it, I'm so sorry.
A Beast Among Bookends; or, How to Domesticate Your Feral Librarian by @the-writing-mill A separation and a tumble on a mission leads Obi-Wan Kenobi down a different path in life.
Years later, during the clone wars, the 212th is sent to take out Darth Libri after failed attempts by both the CIS and Republic to sway him to their sides. The mission does not go well.
But if Cody choosing to stay with the vode's nightmare for a bit can spare his brothers, well... that's not really a choice, is it?
Limited By The Light by @wanderingjedihistorian After watching the missile come so close to killing Cody, Obi-Wan is done. He welcomes the Dark and all the power it brings. He won't be limited by the light any longer. It is time for the war to end.
What came after by @galateagalvanized “Are you all the Council sent, then?” Bo-Katan asks, swinging one leg over the speeder’s seat. Her voice is raspy, and Cody wonders if it’s from smoke inhalation. “Considering they wouldn’t help with the first Sith, I guess I should be glad for any help at all with the second.”
It's the first time he's heard someone use that word to describe Kenobi, and he bristles.
“We’re not here on behalf of the Council, Miss Kryze. We're here for our general.”
Or: Everyone has a breaking point. That includes Obi-Wan.
That includes Cody.
No End in Sight by TreeOfTime Commander Cody serves under General Jinn in the Clone Wars. Since the very beginning a mysterious Sith has been plaguing near victories of the Republic and ripping them out of their grasp. Commander Cody isn't sure what his purpose is or what his intentions are but when they finally meet on the battlefield, things go wrong and he must face this opponent alone.
oh how unreasonably in love I am by @buckytheboss “Hello there,” Obi-wan Kenobi said to him, not even looking in his direction. The Sith was laying in the grass, hands behind his head, and copper hair spread in the grass around him. He turned to face him, and somehow it surprised Cody that his eyes were yellow. That’s just how Sith were, he’d been told. But it seemed…. wrong.
On Reasonable Terms by @wanderingjedihistorian Prince Cody of Mandalore captured the Sith Emperor's interest the first time he saw him in battle. Obi-Wan is only mortal and can't resist making Cody return to Coruscant with him as part of Mandalore's surrender. It is perhaps both the best, and the most foolish, thing he has ever done.
Fallen (series) (jangobi) by @thebisexualmandalorian
Polaris (series) (rexobi) by @bluemaskedkarma What if Obi-Wan Kenobi never went to Bandomeer? What if, instead, he got on a different ship? Those steps set into motion an entirely different future, one where he takes on different names until an unlikely friend gives him one that sticks--Red. All he wanted was to help those in need, but somewhere along the way he became the one who needs. Who will help him?
