“I could get used to this,” Rebecca said, turning in front of the mirror.

“You should. It suits you.” Beatrice drew her feet up onto the sofa and watched Rebecca pluck at the collar of her borrowed pyjamas.

“Max would think they’re hideous.”

“Well Maxim isn’t here. I am.”

“True.” Rebecca came over to the sofa and sat down, drawing up her feet just as Beatrice had done. “Be a dear and share that blanket, will you?”

Beatrice leaned forward and moved the blanket to cover them both.

“Thank you.” Rebecca smiled at her and settled back on the sofa.
