So my opinions on all the Dead Boy Detective/DBDA Characters
All of these are opinions as someone who has watched the show a few times now and also the Doom Patrol episode and I’ll give my opinions on the Doom Patrol versions at the end.
Spoilers for Dead Boy Detectives Show. And Doom Patrol season 3 ep. 3 and that episode alone
Charles Rowland
- Charles is such a sweetheart I love him. He’s always looking out for his friends and literally went to hell for Edwin, and kicked the Night Nurse for him. I just love him so much.
- I felt so bad for him in episode one when he says his dad, “wasn’t the nicest guy,” and in episode three when we see him break being forced to see a father k!ll his family over. I was actually crying with him saying he doesn’t “want to be a bad guy”! It broke me so badly, the abuse he went through and the fear he’ll become like his abusers is a very real thing and to see a character go through that makes the story feel more real, and makes me more sad. He could use some therapy.
- Him being the “brawn” of the team is pretty funny to me but thats most because if you watch the cast interactions you’ll see what I mean.
- All in all, I love him. He is loving, protective, loyal and has golden retriever with attachment issues energy mixed with scary dog privilege but the dog isn’t scary unless provoked.
Edwin Paine/Payne
- Adorable, get him some therapy please! He needs it! Man was so repressed for the first part of this show I thought I’d die before he confessed. But I don’t blame him honestly, his death was traumatic and being called a “Mary Ann” whilst being sacrificed likely would put a bad taste in your mouth about the idea of you being queer in any way shape or form. I am so proud of him good job!
- Honestly he just makes me so happy, and I love how he interacts with everyone and grows!
Crystal Palace
- I love her she is so bad ass and I hope wish the best for her
- She needs better taste in men, my suggestion date women
- I want to see a little more of her Nepo baby side of her past cause clearly that was a thing
Niko Sasaki
- Sweetie! I miss her! She was the only other person other than Charles to get Edwin out of his shell and it hurts me so much to see her be gone. Her death will forever haunt me.
Cat King
- I love him so much, he is my favourite kind of not evil but not good guy the kind that plays a game with people by flirting! Ahhh I love him! I don’t love that he falls for Edwin(I’ll make a separate post on this issue)
- Anywho I still love him he gives off chaotic gender neutral vibes and the song Sex With a Ghost was made for him, I just love him!
Monty the Crow
- Monty I love you but don’t kiss people without consent!
- Honestly he was very important, and sweet he didn’t deserve all the pain he’s been through, may better things come his way.
Jenny the Butcher
- Badass. I love everything about her. Her style, the way she gives advice, yes I just love her so much. I want to see more of her.
- Her episode made me so sad for her ;-;
Esther Finch
- Honestly I love her as a villain she was so evil, and a genuine threat. She is also so hot and scary I just love her.
David the Demon
- A creep I didn’t like him, I don’t know what else you want?
Doom Patrol versions!
Charles Rowland
- He was so funny in this, I loved him. I love how the show conveyed a mutual interest from him to Edwin they are both just too dense to say anything about it. I also love that it seems the only thing he knows about America is that they like baseball.
- They did have to go off and hurt me with the fear of water scene, but he was so sweet protecting Edwin from the Night Nurse(who in this is just 10 times scarier)
Edwin Paine
- Him not getting anything about modern times and brushing off his feelings for Edwin was so well done! I love how he tells Larry he “isn’t like him” saying he isn’t queer and that if he were that would be bad, he says this all in a very rude and brash tone and then proceeds to comfort Charles in the nicest to he is capable of.
- Beautiful 10/10
Crystal Palace
- Boss ass Bitch, girl boss. 8/10 I love her but no real opinions yet that is I may go back one day and edit this for her
I hope you liked this dumb post :3

If you could compare your husband to anything in the world, it would be a tree. Sawamura Daichi has been the same person ever since you met him eight years ago. From being the first year student who was always enthusiastic about volleyball to the dependable and reliable captain of the Karasuno High School boys' volleyball team. From being your classmate to dating each other and getting married straight after graduation, Sawamura Daichi has always been the same: Steadfast, sincere, and a fantastic person inside out. And just like a strong tree that can withstand the different seasons and the passing of time, he stood strong and steady, unwavering no matter the situation.
Daichi was never one for anything impromptu or unplanned, which was why it utterly surprised you when he said, "let's have a baby" softly in your ear while you two were cuddling in bed one night with your head lying on his chest. The deepness of his voice caught you by surprise.
"W-what did you say, Daichi-kun?" what a stupid question. You clearly heard what your husband said. How could you not?
"You heard me, y/n-chan. Let's have a baby." Daichi chuckled, eyes turning into little crescents. Flipping you on your back, Daichi's eyes never left you, studying your face as he tucked some of your hair behind your ear.
"I-I don't know, D-Daichi-kun, I mean—" you gulped nervously, avoiding your husband's eye, "we're only 24."
"We've been married for a while. I think we're both ready. It's time we have kids of our own, don't you think?" planting a soft kiss on your forehead, Daichi said something that made you widen your eyes.
"Let's have kids before Tanaka and Shimizu do."
"Daichi-kun!!!" You couldn't control your laughter anymore and smacked your husband playfully on the chest. Trust him to say something like this! "Having kids isn't a game of betting, Daichi-kun! Also, don't call Kiyoko-chan Shimizu anymore. It's Tanaka now."
Daichi laughed before kissing you again, this time with a little more pressure on your lips. "I'm serious, y/n-chan. I'm ready to start a family with you. A mini you, or a mini me. Maybe both, maybe more. I want you to have my kids, my dear. Our kids. I want to have a family with you. Our family. "
You stared at your husband, trying to look for a flaw in his plan, any small hint that he was just pulling your leg. No, you thought to yourself, it can't be. Daichi-kun never lied. Daichi-kun would never joke about something like this.
"You're lucky I love you, Sawamura Daichi," you smiled as you cupped his cheeks, pulling him in for a kiss, "I can't believe you actually had a bet with Tanaka-kun over something like this."
"What if I told you it was Suga's idea?" your husband chuckled once more as he slowly removed your top, "we've always talked about forming a Karasuno junior volleyball club with our kids in the future."
"We're not having six kids, Daichi-kun." you warned him as you snaked your hands up his chest, lacing them around his neck, "two is enough." Hearing you, Daichi let out another smile again, swiftly kissing you on the lips.
"So you're agreeing to having kids?"
"Yes, my dear husband, before I change my mind." and with that said, you gave him a full kiss, feeling him roam his hands across your clothed chest. Arching your back, Daichi removed your bralette and started massaging your soft breasts, knowing damn well how much you love it when he played with them. His hands were calloused, yet they were so soft and gentle against your skin. His thumbs drew circles around your nipples, his tongue now seeking permission to enter your warm cavern. You let out a hum of happiness as Daichi lightly bit your lower lip, gasping as he started pinching your sensitive peaks.
"Close your eyes for me, please?" he suddenly whispered against your ear, causing goosebumps to appear. Bewildered, you closed your eyes and wondered what Daichi was up to. You heard him opening a drawer and ransacking through something, and suddenly, you heard the rustling of metal and then something cold was bound to your wrists.
"DAICHI-KUN!!"—your eyes shot open—"please don't tell me you took them from work?" your husband merely chuckled as he kneeled before you, trapping your body between his knees.
"You know I can't bring any equipment home from the police station, y/n-chan. I bought these. Somewhere." You tilted your head and saw the handcuffs around your wrists. They did look flimsier and thinner than the ones police officers normally use.
Daichi smirked as he slipped his fingers into your underwear, pulling them down to your ankles. Holding your hands up above your head with one strong arm, he dove down on your breast and started sucking your nipple while his free hand massaged the other. You let out another groan when his tongue and finger started to draw circles around your areola, the ticklish sensation making you wiggle your toes.
"Oh yes, yes, dear, just l-like that—'' you whined as you squirmed around, rubbing your hip against his groin. You could feel Daichi's boner strained against his shorts, but being the ever-so-attentive husband he always was, you knew he wouldn't let you do anything for him until he made you cum at least once. Switching to taste your other nipple, Daichi's hand snaked down your body, fingers pressing lightly on your clit before tracing circles. You let out another hum, unknowingly trying to loosen your hands from his iron-tight grip.
"Uh-huh, Sawamura-san, don't try to wiggle yourself out." your husband teased once more, rubbing your clit a little harder. His grip on your cuffed wrists tightened, feeling your entrance moisten after a while. Picking up some of your slick, Daichi continued his touch on your clit as he sat upright, admiring your sweaty form below him. Your eyes were shut and your jaw was hanging loose with gasps of hot breath escaping your pretty lips. His wife looked so beautiful, he couldn't help himself but to smile as he stared.
"D-Daichi-kun… mhm, y-yeah, my clit—fast-faster—mmm—" you groaned again, feeling your incoming orgasm. Your body was tingling with excitement and your hip ground against his fingers, silently seeking more friction. "Oh god, Daichi-kun, mmm, my nipple, s-suck on my n-ni—" your sentence was stuck when you felt Daichi's lips enclose around your nipple, once more teasing your bud with small, slow circles using his tongue. Damn it, you cursed in your head. He always knew the right spots to touch to get your body fired up. He always knew the right pace to set to fuel your need. He always knew when was the right time to go slow, and when to go fast.
"You cumming for me, dear?" Daichi hummed, tiling his chin slightly to look at your face. He knew you were close; he could tell from the way you were panting and the way your hip was moving. You tried to say 'yes' but all that came out were just whines again. Increasing his speed on your nipple and your cunt, Daichi gave your body a final push until you convulsed, the coil in your belly finally snapping as you felt your essence flow out. Letting you catch your breath, Daichi sat upright once more and slowly removed his shirt, leaving him in his cotton shorts.
Regaining your composure, you looked at your husband, registering the scene before you. Years of playing volleyball in the past really did his body good. Years of training and working as a police officer made his body look even better. His rock hard chest, his strong arms, his well defined abs, his muscular thighs—
"If you continue to stare at me like that, I'll have to clean up your drool."
"Don't worry, dear, I can wipe my drool myself," you scoffed, moving your hands back down, "if you let these handcuffs go."
"No."
"Please, Daichi-kun, let me touch you, hmm? Pl—"
"No," he replied a little more firmly this time, yet he still had a smile on his face, "these are going to be on you the entire night. You just need to lie down here and let me do everything, 'kay?" Daichi leaned down and cupped your hot cheeks, staring deep into your eyes.
"The only thing I need you to do tonight is to take as much of me as you can, hmm? Can you do that for me, Sawamura y/n?"
God damn it, you cussed again. His unwavering stare caused you to take a nervous gulp. He really knows how to rile me up, huh. Without a word, you hooked your arms around his neck again, pulling him towards your lips.
"Fill me up, Daichi."
An urgent kiss followed after your words, giving Daichi no time to respond. Focusing on the kiss and how your tongue was impatiently prodding his mouth to gain more access, Daichi fumbled to remove his shorts and boxers, his hard-on finally springing free from its restraints.
Wiggling out of your locked arms, Daichi looked at you while he stroked himself a few times, pulling his foreskin down to expose his tip. Your hair was in a mess and sprawled all over the pillow, your chest was heaving and your body was glistening with remnants of sweat. "D-do me a favour, y/n-chan."
Your answer came out a little breathy, "... yeah?"
"Squeeze your boobs together," Daichi groaned while he rubbed his tip at your entrance, please to find it still moist from your orgasm earlier, "w-with your arms."
"Hmm… like that?" acting modest, you squeezed your breasts together with your arms, shooting your husband a coy look, knowing exactly what he wanted. The moment he saw your soft mounds pushed together, Daichi lost all sense of control and let out a loud grunt, leaning forward to suck your nipple again while he entered you fully in one swift move. A satisfied moan left your lips when you felt his entire length in you, snugly filling you up with his warmth.
"D-daichi, ahhh… s-so—y-you're so deep—" incessant moans were all that you could manage to produce once Daichi started to move his hip, thrusting in and out of your cunt in a slow and steady pace, making sure you felt each and every move. You were getting wetter the more he thrust. "Mmm, y-yes, oh my god, Daichi—hah… D-daichi—"
"Mm. Yeah, go on, my dear, say it. Say my name. Out loud." Daichi's muffled voice came from beneath you, thoroughly enjoying his feast on your hard nipple while his hands started to massage your chest. Leaving your nipple with a pop of his lip, Daichi switched over to taste your other nipple—god forbid it was your more sensitive nipple—as he continued to thrust inside you deep. "I want to hear you, y/n."
"Mmm, Daichi, y-yeah, ahhh—mmm, r-right there! Daichi…" your heart was pumping so fast and your belly was tightening again, "just l-like that, Daichi, mmm… Y-yes, Papa—"
"You're going to look glowing when you're carrying our child..." Daichi released himself from your chest and cupped your cheeks, kissing you fiercely without messing up the rhythm of his thrusts. Before you could say anything, Daichi's face scrunched up in concentration as he let out a long groan; a tell-tale sign that he was near his release. Before you even knew it, Daichi gasped out loud into your mouth and you felt him pulsating inside your cunt.
"So fast?" you chuckled, hugging your husband close.
Daichi looked at you after a long while, feeling a little embarrassed, "I-I couldn't hold it in anymore, I'm s—"
"Shhh"—you kissed Daichi to shut him up—"why are you apologising? You told me to take as much of you as I can, remember?" Daichi's lips slowly turned into a grin, pushing himself upwards to admire you from below again.
"Oh, of course I remember that, dear." pulling himself out of your cunt slightly, Daichi turned you around on your stomach and pushed himself inside you. You moaned out loud, feeling him deep inside you again. "I'm going to fill you with so much of my cum that it's impossible for you to not get pregnant."
Feeling himself in you again—so much deeper this time—awoken a feral need in Daichi, making him thrust inside you even quicker than before. "I didn't manage to make you cum just now, yeah? Gonna make it up this time—" Daichi growled next to your ear, causing goosebumps to rise on your skin again. Your fingers clawed at the bedsheets, your whole body was trembling with want and need.
"Oh, yes, yes! Daichi, yes, right there, mhmm, ye—" your toes were tingling again and you felt yourself getting closer to your second orgasm of the night, your mind could only register how good Daichi's cock felt inside you. "Mmm, Daichi, please—uhh, I'm close, dear, I'm so—"
"Can't wait to hear our child call you Mama," Daichi whispered, holding himself back with all his willpower, refraining from shooting his seed in you until he made you feel good. "You're going to be such a great mother, y/n…" with Daichi's tip rubbing against your sweet spot, you gasped out loud as your entire body shook with pleasure, feeling lightheaded all of a sudden. Your husband continued to prolong your euphoria with a few more thrusts before he let out another grunt, collapsing on top of you as his dick pulsated in you again, filling you up with his load. The both of you continued to pant breathlessly, letting the post-orgasm bliss consume you. Daichi laid on top of you for a long while, refusing to pull out even when he was already flaccid.
"Do you think that was enough?"
You turned your head to the side and gave your husband the side eye, "yes, Daichi-kun, I believe it was enough. Your cum is about to drip on the bedsheet soon." hearing you, Daichi jumped out of bed and carried you, rushing to the bathroom before his cum dripped on the bedsheets and floor.
"I love you, y/n," Daichi muttered as he let your feet down on the bathroom floor, "I love you so much."
"I love you too, my dear," you chuckled, giving him a wry smile, "but I would love you more if you removed these—" you shook your wrists, and Daichi's mouth hung loose.
"Oh." He sheepishly smiled before running back to the bedroom butt-naked, trying to look for the handcuff keys. Moments later, he appeared with a shiny key between his fingers. Slotting the key into one of the slots, Daichi uncuffed one of your wrists. However, instead of uncuffing the other wrist, he brought both your hands to the back and cuffed them together again.
"Sawamura Daichi."
"What? I did tell you to take as much of me as you can, didn't I?" He gave you a knowing look, making you lean forward before aligning his hip to your rear. Pumping his shaft a few more times, Daichi picked up the cum dripping between your thighs to rub between your slit, making you bite your lip to muffle your moans. "I'm not done with you yet, Sawamura y/n."
Oh boy, you thought, I'm in for a long night.

Hi! I have a few questions I hope you don't mind me asking. Would you say that you like Lovely Writer more than I Feel You Linger In The Air considering the LW is a 9.5 in your book but IFYLITA is only a 9. And even though IFYLITA is only a 9, do you think you would include it within your Queer Cinema for BL Syllabus considering other notable aspects about it
Hello! I don’t mind questions at all.
Ratings are Recommendations for Me
Before we get into why each show got a different score, I think it’s important to explain my ratings system again. I come from the land of media criticism, and the primary question for me is “How easy is this to recommend to people?” I secretly use a five-stars system (5 Great, 1 Terrible) that I simple double for the 10 stars of MDL that basically works as such:
No one should watch this. It is incoherent, poorly made, and offensive.
Only genre fans could appreciate anything happening here, but it’s still offensive and/or poorly made.
Genre fans can appreciate this show, but it has major flaws in execution, narrative, or themes.
Genre fans will love this. Strong execution overall but requires some familiarity to truly appreciate.
Everyone will love this and is a fine entry point for the genre. Excellent execution and strong storytelling.
Bad Buddy is a 9.5 for me because, while it is an excellent project, the episode 12 first half sucks so hard
So why does IFYLITA get a lower score than Lovely Writer?
IFYLITA is a beautiful show with strong performances across the entire cast. However, it is a time travel show in which I don’t exactly know what the point of the time travel is, other than to enable a historical romance and enable the storyteller to play with that setting from the modern perspective. I don’t know why Jom is being dragged around the time stream or why he’s doomed to fall in love with and be torn from Yai repeatedly.
Additionally, this is a slavery romance. I am a Black gay man born and raised in the South. Solomon Northup’s autobiography is required reading, as are other first person accounts of chattel slavery in the US and the way the North surrendered Reconstruction to the South. I also watched Kindred this year after having not read Octavia Butler’s work in a long time. I am not a person who typically enjoys the power dynamics of historical romance, and I really don’t like slavery romances. I was talking with @lurkingshan yesterday about how much I didn’t like Jom and Maey sitting on the floor as Eaeang Phueng says goodbye to her family.
Finally, I think Lovely Writer is more coherent. It’s a single-season story about a potential romance between a BL actor and a BL writer. The show goes on to unpack all of the complexities surrounding these two as they are forced to collaborate and cohabitate during the filming of a show. IFYTLITA muddles its ending, and we have been reliant on spoilers from book readers to make sense of what the hell happened at the end of the episode. I don’t like that. I hate when we’re reliant on commentary from the source media to understand what the hell happened in an adaptation.
So, because of these particular issues, Lovely Writer is slightly easier for me to recommend to people over I Feel You Linger in the Air. Despite how Nonkul and Bright delivered on what may be the most accessible romantic chemistry of the year, and how much I loved the way this show tastefully approached m/m intimacy and sex, the show has some stumbles that I think diminish it slightly. I think episode 11 is incredible. I think Episode 10 is too pat. I think Episode 12 is hedging too much on a potential second season and doesn’t close off season 1 in a way that’s satisfying for me.
These are all bigger or smaller issues than others. I also very, very rarely go back and change my ratings for shows based on modern circumstances. Lovely Writer was special when it released. We don’t get IFYLITA without Lovely Writer. When I finished Lovely Writer, I thought it was one of the best shows of the year and I thought every BL fan needed to watch it. It doesn’t get a 10 because so much of the drama is about BL itself, and so there is some explaining that’s needed for people who aren’t in genre.
So, to be clear:
For me, Lovely Writer is easier to recommend to people than I Feel You Linger in the Air. That’s the .5 difference between them.
I hope that all made sense. Thanks for the question!

#2 The Big Bang Theory
(Spoiler alert)
Plot: Four nerdy scientists try to navigate social life in Pasadena, sometimes with great difficulty. Leonard, Sheldon, Raj and Howard all share some or other neurotic trait but also the longing for a less lonesome life. Everything changes one day when Penny moves in nextdoor to Leonard and Sheldon...
Years: 2007-2019
Seasons: 12
My story: One of my best friends in high school loved this series and we spent the good part of a weekend back in 2010 watching the first seasons. I've always been drawn to nerds and geeks so this spoke to me right away.
Teachable moments: TBBT developed a lot over the years, not the least the characters developed and challanged themselves more and more. I think it mostly thaught me that you can be yourself and still find love and friendship. And also, a few random science facts that can be helpfull at quizes.
Best character: This might be a random choice, but I've always had a soft spot for Stuart, the neurotic and depressed owner of the comic book store the gang visits frequently. He seems like a small role at the beginning, but he hangs on all 12 seasons and actually does quite a journey himself. I'm so happy he gets a happy ending.
Best episode: This might be the simple choice, but I really love the last episode; "The Stockholm syndrome". This because of several reasons. One, last episodes rarely are as good as they need to be, but this one is. Two, it takes place in Sweden, which always is fun if you're from here yourself. Three, it takes place on my birthday (the Nobel Prize ceremony always takes place on Alfred Nobel day December 10 th). So, basically, that episode was made for me!
Best quote: "I was under a misapprehension that my accomplishments were mine alone. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have been encouraged, sustained, inspired, and tolerated not only by my wife, but by the greatest group of friends anyone ever had." Sheldon Cooper in his Nobel Prize acceptance speach.
Fun fact: Penny's last (maiden) name is never revealed at any time through the years. Only time she is mentioned with a last name is after she married Leonard and taken his name.
If you like this you might also like: The spinoff Young Sheldon, where we follow Sheldon as a wunderkind in East Texas in the 90's, is a given for any TBBT fan. Also, other ensamble cast sitcoms like Friends, New Girl, How I met your mother and Modern Family.

SPN POSTCANON UPDATE: Dean sighted in Roanoke VA, then soon after in Argentina
Seems alive(?), healthy and in one piece, but under a lot of stress. Has lost some weight and powers aren't working too well from what I can see. Hanging out w a pooka that's PROBABLY Baby, but with shapeshifters who even knows.
Dean is working with YET ANOTHER DUDE WHO SEEMS TO BE HIS BROTHER. Pretty clear that if they do share a parent, it's John. Their dynamic is good, a lot like Dean and Sam except this guy is NOTHING like Sam, honestly he's pretty feral. Huge guy easily meeting "giant" height, seems to prefer range combat but can hold his own in melee as well. Calls himself a hunter or tracker of some kind, mostly goes after human targets. Understands a little of what's going on w the Fae/Rome/etc but doesn't get the full picture. He's curious and eager to fuck around and find out
Physically he resembles John a LOT, and could easily be his kid- but also bears resemblance to Balor. w the whole Vessel situation going on rn its unclear who this guy's "father" actually is besides the fact that he's a piece of work. Also of note, this guy is confirmed to have a nonhuman lineage, unclear on which side. Features include giant stature/build, enhanced senses, expert/preternatural marksmanship, the usual super strength(?), animalistic/survival mindset as baseline, and hair seems more like fur, possibly seal fur. Doesn't seem to have any connection to the possible-Selkie girl in Maine.
...all in all, Balor is looking like a more likely candidate for this guy's dad, which would explain why he and Dean currently have this sibling relationship due to (THE BOYS S4 SPOILERS). Also still some chance of a Fomoire/Fae/Fuath/Campbell family connection that I haven't noticed.
Dean is tied up in more Roman nonsense and appears to have ended up owing a blood debt (in his own blood) to some late Roman military-cult god I've vaguely heard of bc he killed said god's brother. Lots of modern folk magic/esoterica, severed limbs and possibly at least one demon deal. Given the location and the events set to unfold this summer, can't rule out Croatoan fuckery going on here as well. Dean also had a new Magic Knife(tm), bone handled with a steel, iron or possibly silver blade. gave it to this new guy, probably for protection.
I'll look into if Balor had any children in the mythos (current/recent Antichrist Situation notwithstanding).
Not sure why Dean is headed south, not sure I want to know. If he weren't the type to run directly INTO danger every time, I'd say he was trying to get out ahead of the absolute shitstorm hitting the Northeast US coast in a month. I rly hope he's not planning on picking a fight w that Brazilian pantheon over what happened w Sam... its not their fault and if anything someone should warn them. Wars between seasonal deities WILL spread just as climate change does, and if one of them was already dragged into it, that whole mythos is at risk. ...Hopefully Dean is there to warn them, not. stab them.
Dean pls just be decent to the other pagan gods this once please.
Also, Garth and his wife are now in a threesome! with BENNY.
and they are ALL married to each other
that's odd, its not bad, its just ODD, I'm happy for them. 10/10, they were always like the 3 most functional characters in the whole show anyway, and I'm sure Garth's kiddos will enjoy having yet another fun dad.
congrats to whatever's going on over there.
ALSO! Rowena's back! Yay!!! She seems to have given up trying to escape Death and now WORKS for Death, namely corralling the souls of children who don't want to go to the afterlife... or... something vaguely like that idk. She likes her job, or at least likes continuing to exist while doing something in her vague field of interest. However she DOES appear to be sniffing around near all that recent activity w Azazel's return, I hope she stays safe or just finds somewhere else to hang out. Of relevance re: Rowena's current activities are:
-two VERY talented ghosts who help other ghosts pass on and hunt the occasional monster, they are amazingly skilled and there's a lot to learn from those two.
-Tom Tildrum, or possibly Tim Toldrum, idfk its one of the cats to go by the title "The King Of Cats". I think he's Cat-sith on at least one side (Faerie/Sidhe cat) and may be in charge of them.
-Jenny Greenteeth, who may have Fomoire heritage and may ALSO be Balor's relative/child. She seems nice, if in over her head. Not sure she remembers what she is.
-Yet Another Second Generation Special Kid. this one has ALL kinds of other weird going on tho, gotta look into that

10/10. Now I’m just pissed that there hasn’t been a Decepticon episode yet and there’s only one episode left in the season.
I guess I have a nitpick and that’s the lack of an interesting voice cast IMHO. Shockwave sounds like a tired Steve Blum and Steve Blum as Starscream is trying to do his best G1 impression. Add in a normal sounding tarantulas and you pretty much can’t tell the Cons apart. It’s almost like modern cartoons aren’t allowed to have accents anymore in fear of insulting someone. But man, if Shockwave was given his Animated/G1 VA?? Uuuuugh I’m so mad now that he just sounds like a guy.
His snatched waist makes it for it though.
Home-
Biggest Con- RASCIT PROBLEMS BUT FOR AILEN ROBOTS. GET IT!? ITS FOR LITTLE CHILDREN TO NOT BE RASIST BUT MORE SUBTLE CAUSE ITS FOR TRANSFORMERS. SEE WHAT WE DID THERE!?
Con- has anyone on the voice acting team ever BEEN to Philly? It’s like they just made up an accent and said “close enough”. Awful but in a funny way. “Eh youz guyz ever seena’ wrestlin match beforah?”
-not a pro or con buuuuut lazerbeak can talk?? Aaaand he has a Texan drawl?? Mmmmmmkay. I hope they let Ravage talk then since he’s ACTUALLY spoken in many renditions of himself in the past.
-dang Acid Storm just can’t catch a break from getting the shit kicked out of her all the time lol
- Pro!!!! I didn’t know Grimlock was in this!?
-Pro- Mandroid with 5 o’clock shadow. Mama like.
-Con- if I made a drinking game to take a shot every time someone says family, I would be dead before the credits. Fuck, taking a shot when only Twitch says it will get me hammered.
Is that it? That’s the first season!? Booooo I want more noooow!!!

I have a lot of thoughts about character development and their reception
(Obvi focusing too much on ghost and soap, which lead to focusing too much on project freelancer, and I’m reading too many books that are sparking the hyperfixation too atm, but if they inspire me to think then that’s fine.)
I love mischaracterization when they’re funny or just objectively good fandom choices. I don’t mind that much when characters are mischaracterized either. That’s not the point tho. The point is the depth of/implications made by really good character assessments.
Probably gonna be major spoilers for Red vs Blue, and the entire Mistborn series beyond this point.
(Maybe also for modern warfare 2 but I’ve never interacted with the source material and everything I know is from fan content so I don’t really know?? Anyway proceed with caution I’ll try to tag stuff as I talk.)
But like. Okay yes Wash is the tired dad guy in RVB post-freelancers. It’s very funny bc he’s a seasoned soldier and the reds and blues are pretty much useless. I’ve been rewatching seasons 9&10 lately, and I’m realizing just how much Wash has changed. He’s still a bit of a dick (which is fine), but when he was a true freelancer he was… personable? Optimistic? I would even say excited about being a soldier. Fast forward through 1.) losing everyone he’s ever known (yes Carolina too, but I’ll come back to that), 2.) being betrayed by some of the people he trusted the most, 3.) being forced to work with the animated corpse of his best friend and teammate and ultimately almost get killed by him before watching him die, and 4.) losing his last sliver of connection to the person he was before — we get to present day Wash (circa season 14, I haven’t watched past that). Wash is a broken man. Like so entirely and inescapably broken.
It takes him such a long time to start caring about the reds and blues bc he’s seen people he believed to be invincible get slaughtered. He watched his family get destroyed from the inside out. Every single person he knew all those years ago is dead, including the people he and Carolina used to be. He gets portrayed like “haha isn’t it funny how this seasoned vet has to hang out with these guys who have no idea how the military works?? Lol” and then at the same time he is just so desperately trying to persist. Not even survive. By the time Maine dies, I genuinely feel like Wash felt he had lost too much. He’s so reluctant to trust in and care about the reds and blues because he has been to the absolute depths of despair and loss and he doesn’t want to go back there.
Carolina, too. Like I didn’t realize the first time that she and York met before enlisting. That they enlisted together, that they were canonically romantically-involved like long term throughout all of the freelancer arc. They were a perfect match (I genuinely believe this, but I’m not going to take more space on this particular post to explore it). Then Carolina thinks he’s betraying her when he starts working against PFL and ends up abandoning him to die. She doesn’t realize until she’s also betrayed for real by active freelancers how wrong she was. The scene where she finds the Delta unit hit so much harder the more you dig into her and York’s story. Even after she abandoned him, York had faith he could win her back. He was planning to propose to her for YEARS. Even after she left him. He had so much faith that she would see the truth and they would make amends. She knows that now that it’s too late and she has to live with that knowledge for the rest of her life.
She was also betrayed by Maine, the man who took multiple shots for her and defended her with his life, only for him to turn on her and try to kill her just to loot her body. (Again I realize there was more to this plot point than that, but from her POV he had just lost it and betrayed her). Even Washington crosses her at some point. By the time she realizes how fucked up the entire PFL situation is, almost everyone she’s ever known has been murdered or is MIA-presumed-KIA and she has to live with the guilt of surviving that while defending the very thing that killed them all. So yeah, she and Wash “survived” but they are NOT the same people from the start of the story.
With Mistborn: The Lost Metal, seeing into the depths of Wayne’s regret and pain really fleshes his character out in a way I had assumed Brandon had already covered. Wayne didn’t just ruin that girls life, he’s ruined a lot of peoples lives, including his own. The worst part is, he can’t bring himself to do anything to change it and he’s fully aware of that fact and it makes him feel even worse. When he says the worst thing in the world is someone who wants to be like him, because he knows him and he hates that man… when MeLaan confessed that she didn’t really love him she was just sort of passing time with him and his conclusion is that it was because he wasn’t good enough for her?? God that hurts. But it’s so real and I feel like people aren’t talking about that aspect of Wayne enough. He’s goofy and stupid as a form of self-medication (since he can’t drink away his problems) in order to distract himself from his crushing guilt, regret, and self-loathing. He doesn’t want to be funny just to be funny. It’s almost entirely self-serving as a way to give himself a sense of worth and as a distraction, and his character deserves to have that recognized.
With Mistborn Era 1/Secret History, I’ve seen a lot of people complain that SH betrayed Kelsier’s character and motivation, but I think it solidified what Brandon had been hinting at all along. While his motivation may have initially been to fulfill Mare’s dream, over time it transformed into a desire to destroy the upper class/Lord Ruler as pure, unadulterated revenge. Marsh says something at one point I think to the effect of “is this what Mare would have done? Would she have wanted you to do this?” And Kelsier just sort of tells him to fuck off, but he’s RIGHT. Marsh tells us that Kelsier is a little crazy, biased, ambitious, and takes things too far. In my opinion, his decision to give up the afterlife in lieu of getting to keep living and furthering his personal goals is a clear decider. I’m not saying he doesn’t still love Mare or want to make her proud, but his own ambition now usurps his desire to do what Mare wanted to do. He’s willingly turned his back on seeing her again in favor of continuing his work toward his goals. I still love him as a character, but I can’t understand how people miss this critical character flaw and chalk it up to bad writing on Brandon’s part.
Anyway this all came from seeing someone talking about how if we were gonna be honest Ghost isn’t baby girl and instead would be:
Very wary, scared of forming attachments
Anti-touch, loathe any and all physical contact
Terrible at empathizing or connecting or communicating
And how basically all the really sweet and wonderful aspects about his babygirlification would unfortunately not happen as he is (much like all our other war veterans in this post) a DEEPLY broken man.
Idk that’s all I’ve just been thinking about that a lot lately.

Happy Birthday, Jonathan!
Actually it's his estimated 190th birthday on 4th Dec but I thought I'd post this early as some light relief since we're all suffering from the nasty virus that is Long Markle:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/dec/02/worlds-oldest-recorded-tortoise-prepares-for-190th-birthday-party
While staying up late for Dave Thorpe's StrictlySpoiler (big fan of Strictly though I don't vote as it's not my country!), I spent my time looking up what life was like in 1832. Facts and figures from Cutler's History of English Agriculture, various historical websites and money-conversion places; any calculation errors are mine, as they say.
Historical Money Note: four farthings to one penny (d); twelve pennies to one shilling (s); twenty shillings to one pound (l).
In 1832, the average rural labourer would have earned between 10 and 15s a week, depending on his skills. If he had a working wife, she'd have earned about half that, and if he was lucky he'd have a working-age child or two who might contribute another 10s a week between them, so we're looking at an average rural family (say two adults, plus four or five children) with an income of approx 25 to 30s.
That's £1.50 a week in modern sterling.
What would your £1.50 a week have bought you?
Well your weekly rent would have been about 2s. You'd spend 6s a week on bread, and another 6s for your weekly milk, cheese, butter and tea. You'd be growing your own vegetables and potatoes, and you'd probably spend about 2s 6d a week on a pound or two of bacon or sausage or offal. You wouldn't be eating steak or pork chops - they were just for rich people. You'd only be eating fish if you caught it yourself (on the sly when the landowner wasn't around) or if you lived by the coast with access to a friendly fisherman to sell you herrings and shellfish. Remember that transport was still basic in 1832, so people who lived inland wouldn't have access to fresh sea produce.
If you were daring, you could supplement your meat rations by snaring rabbits or pigeons, or otherwise poaching game, though you risked a severe fine or gaol if you were caught. If you were lucky you'd have a few hens to lay eggs for you (initial outlay: price of laying hens, about 1s each), or you'd have to buy eggs at about 8-10d per dozen.
You'd probably have ale at about one or two farthings a pint. A lot of workers would spend their evenings at the local tavern because candles and firewood or coal would have cost you 2s a week - beer was cheaper, and your children were probably all huddled up warm and cosy together in one bed anyway, so why bother heating the home?
Don't forget that you'd have to save a few pennies a week towards clothes, boots and tools; oh and soap and household stuff. And as you also earned less in winter (farming being seasonal) you'd benefit from having a careful wife who'd squirrel away your spare summer money for the hard months, and not mind being beaten up for not giving you any more beer money. A very careful wife might even save enough to buy a piglet (very expensive, probably around 10s) to fatten up on kitchen scraps, or maybe something special for Christmas dinner.
You wouldn't be able to afford a doctor if you were ill, by the way, so she'd have to have an emergency 6d or so for the apothecary. And then there's long-term injury or illness to think about, and old age, and the ever-present threat of poverty and the workhouse. Not that you'd live that long anyway, as the average life expectancy of an English farm labourer in 1832 was about 40.
Easy to complain about today's inflation, but we still have it better than 1832.
And, no spoilers but I'm sad for the person who was voted off Strictly tonight, I was hoping they'd get rid of the other one who I find a bit annoying.

The Crown Season 6
10 Events That May Become Plotlines In Season 6 (ScreenRant Nov 29, 2022)
Tumblr media
Two years after its fourth season bowed in November of 2020, The Crown returned to Netflix on Nov. 9, 2022 for its highly anticipated fifth season. Following its pattern of swapping in a new cast of actors every two seasons, this one features the debuts of Elizabeth Debicki, Jonathan Pryce, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West as the main characters.
The fifth season follows into the 1990s the turbulent history of the British royal family during Queen Eilizabeth II's reign, including the souring relationship and divorce of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The coming sixth season is set to be the series' last, and while The Crown is a fictionalized version of true events, certain crucial happenings of the late 1990s and early 21st century are likely to come in the show's final episodes.
***SPOILERS***
Princess Diana’s Death (1997)
Tumblr media
Princess Diana's tragic 1997 death in Paris remains one of the most poignant and sensitive moments in modern history, and The Crown is guaranteed to depict this sobering event that changed British royalty forever. However, according to the New York Daily News, it will not show the actual car crash but instead the days leading up to Diana's death and the heart-wrenching days that followed it.
This important moment will come at the beginning of the sixth season, according to Marie Claire. Filming began in September 2022, with season five stars Dominic West (Prince Charles) and Elizabeth Debicki (Princess Diana) capturing the last lonely and torrid days of her life.
Prince Edward And Sophie Rhys-Jones' Wedding (1999)
The royal wedding of Prince Edward to the Duchess of Wessex, Sophie Rhys-Jones, took place in June 1999, and it's likely to feature in The Crown's sixth season, especially because it is the last "first" wedding of Queen Elizabeth II's children.
The simplicity and lack of scandal surrounding Prince Edward’s wedding is important as a plot line because it illustrates a stark and dramatic contrast to the public debacle of Prince Andrew’s divorce from Sarah Ferguson in 1996 Prince Charles' and Princess Diana's messy split.
The Queen Mother’s 100th Birthday (2000)
Tumblr media
To illustrate the longevity and permanence of the British royal family, it's likely the 100th birthday of the Queen Mother in 2000 will appear as a story in the sixth season of The Crown.
The Queen Mother was honored by a 41-gun salute and greeted by thousands of fans who descended on the mall of Buckingham Palace to offer their birthday felicitations on her 100th birthday. Flanked by her daughters Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, she stood on the balcony accompanied by the rest of the royal family. Narratively, this rare moment of happiness and tranquility ciykd stand in contrast to the turmoil the royal family endured through the '90s.
Prince William's First Encounter With Kate Middleton (2001)
Tumblr media
According to E! News, Netflix has confirmed casting Ed McVey and Rufus Kampa as Prince William and the actress Meg Ballamy as a young Kate, who will appear in the final season of The Crown. Following the timeline of actual events, it's plausible the season will focus on their meeting at the University of St. Andrews in 2001.
With the sixth season focusing largely on the tragedies of the royal family starting with the sad death of Princess Diana, the story of William and Kate's young love and the promise of the future would serve as a welcome, hopeful counterpoint.
Princess Margaret's Death (2002)
Tumblr media
The sister of Queen Elizabeth II, the always quotable Princess Margaret holds an important place in the storyline of The Crown just as she held an important place in the royal family in real life. Her diminishing role as a royal and inability to marry her first love, Peter Townsend, led to a tumultuous relationship with the queen. Yet their sisterly bond is featured heavily in the fifth season and could be further explored in the show's last episodes.
Based on the series' depictions of Margaret so far, fans can anticipate the story of her final days will be told in a standalone episode. According to the Daily Express, Princess Margaret suffered three strokes between 1998 and 2001, with her final stroke taking her life in 2002. Queen Elizabeth cried at Margaret’s funeral, "the only time anyone ever saw the Queen show her emotions in public," as Vanity Fair put it.
Prince Charles And Camilla Parker-Bowles' Wedding (2005)
Tumblr media
An inevitable arc of The Crown's sixth season is the 2005 marriage of Prince Charles to his first love, Camilla, tying the knot 35 years after they met. The wedding of Charles and Camilla is significant in the royal family's story, given the role their romance played in the demise and fallout of Prince Charles’s first marriage to Princess Diana.
The simple civil ceremony, which was held in real life at the Windsor Guildhall per the BBC, would offer viewers the necessary moment of pause to reflect on history and how it all played out for the heir apparent, Prince Charles.
Queen Elizabeth II's 80th Birthday (2006)
Tumblr media
The early 2000s held many high points for the British monarchy, including Queen Elizabeth II's 80th birthday, celebrated across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
If The Crown depicts this milestone birthday, it could use the event to explore the loyalty of a country to its monarch, in particular Prince Charles, masterfully played by Dominic West. On the happy occasion, Charles notably lauded his mother's lifetime of service and dedication to the country, addressing her warmly at the time as his "darling Mama," according to the Daily Mirror.
Queen Elizabeth II And Prince Philip’s 60th Wedding Anniversary (2007)
Tumblr media
Played superbly by Imelda Staunton, Queen Elizabeth II was the first British monarch to celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary. Per Reuters, this event was celebrated with much pomp as the royal couple revisited Westminster Abbey to renew their vows, including German relations who had not been to their 1947 wedding given the strong anti-Nazi sentiment after World War II.
Peter Morgan could use this historical family moment to illustrate the staying power of the British crown though its very foundation had been rocked with tragedy and scandal within the decade and forced to face the pressures of a changing world.
Tony Blair's Premiership (1997–2007)
Tumblr media
Tony Blair's tenure as prime minister will no doubt feature in the sixth season of The Crown. Blair played a pivotal role in steering the royal family to steadier waters when the royal establishment was under question following the tragic death of Princess Diana. In an interview with Today, Blair reminisced that the queen "understood, because always her duty came first, that she had to respond to this extraordinary outpouring of grief about Princess Diana."
Peter Morgan depicted these events previously in his movie The Queen, so if he tackles the subject again, he'd likely show it from different narrative angles or use it to color his depiction of the royal family in new ways. Deft handling of this overlap in history between the film and the TV series could enhance both works.
Prince William And Kate Middleton's Wedding (2011)
Tumblr media
The last season of The Crown likely won't touch on very recent events such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the royal family behind them, but it may allude to the future wedding of the next heir apparent, Prince William.
In a show that has observed the bloodline of the house of Windsor since King George V, the creators will likely want to leave fans with a glimmer of hope and anticipation for the future. Alluding to a royal match between Princess Diana's elder son and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton would bring not only bring a sense of aspiration but a fitting transition to what the modern monarchy might become.

just saw seven kings must die and i am so sad and happy rn :( i’m going to miss them all so much 🥹
maybe it’s just my wishful thinking but i feel this would have made a good sixth season, so the characters could be fleshed out more. there’s a lot they couldn’t pack into two hours so it did feel a bit rushed in places but on the whole they did a good job with what they had and i enjoyed every minute (yes, even when i was almost in tears) - solid 9/10
some thoughts (spoilers below!):
they should’ve let sihtric wear his hair out more bc that one scene…damn 🥵
my new faves are osbert and edmund, absolute sweethearts, so happy they made it (that little handholding moment was everything <3)
uhtred was at his fatherly best this movie. the way he interacted with aethelstan was so tender and understanding, it was so good to see how he’s grown since s1
ingilmundr was so interesting as a character, i wish they’d had time to flesh him out more. one the one hand he was an unrepentant manipulative bastard, but on the other i felt he was kind of like a mirror of uhtred if he’d gone another way? uhtred became one with his new life, but ingilmundr could never reconcile himself to being saxon because of his ingrained guilt over his identity, and he then used that in a futile attempt to fit in with his own people. laurie davidson’s acting was fantastic, he did a great job of portraying a complicated character in a limited amount of time
really enjoyed aethelstan’s arc, i went from full on wanting to strangle him to wanting to hug him. yes he made a lot of terrible decisions but he was young and naive and driven by guilt and fear and misplaced trust; my heart broke for him a bit by the end :( my boy deserves someone who loves and cares about him properly
finan remains hilarious as ever “uhtred, sword of uhtred” had me dying 😂
the coccham squad being fiercely loyal to uhtred to the end was everything, they’ve been through so much together
the ending was so good, seeing valhalla with uhtred’s family and friends made me tear up like nobody’s business. i like that they left it open whether he died or not, and the shot of modern day bebbanburg was stunning. a brilliant end to a wonderful series
in conclusion, destiny is all <3

Top 10 most satisfying moments in shows?
Do you mean moments from the animated shows i watched this year? If so, here are some examples (no order): Spoilers!
Pantheon - Maddie is able to free her father from Logorhythms
During the course of the first two episodes from Pantheon, Maddie finds out that her supposed dead father,David Kim, is still alive, living as a UI (Uploaded Intelligence) and is treated as worker slave for Logorhythms, who tricked into helping him before he died. With help from Cody Lowell and Laurie, another UI, Maddie hacks into the company and is able to get her father data back. The scene of David inviting his daughter to play a RPG game online they used to play together when he was ¨alive¨ is one of the most heartwarning scenes from the show. Maddie doesn't care that his father is now an artificial intelligence, she is just happy to see him back.
Amphibia - The girls say goodbye to Amphibia
It’s hard for me to put one moment from the Amphibia final episodes. I choose this one because it’s a bittersweet finale for the show since it is the last time the Calamity Trio will be able to see their found families and friends they made during their staying. It fits with the themes of change and that nothing lasts forever explored in the series. The whole goodbyes are really sad but i think the most heartbreaking one is when Sprig and Anne hug each other. It’s also a nice way of saying ¨goodbye¨ to the people who have been watching the show all these years and finally being able to see its conclusion. It’s as whole an excellent scene and one of the best finales i have seen in modern animated shows.
The Owl House- Hunter establishing his own identity over Belos
There is more than one satisfying scene from the show this year, such as it is the waited Lumity kiss. But, In terms of payoff, i believe this one is better. Yeah, it’s not the most original thing ever. A character standing up against their abuser is something you can find in other animated shows. The thing with Hunter is that it is something a lot of people have been waiting since it was revealed how twisted his relationship with Belos was. It was great to see finaly him becoming his own person after an entire season worth of development. He is a lot happier now living with his friends and away from his shitty uncle. Honorable mentions: King saying he isn’t no longer interested in becoming a ruler and Amity cutting ties with her abusive mother.
The Ghost and Molly Mcgee - ¨I’m not going anywhere¨ scene
From what is one of the best episodes from current Disney TVA shows, ¨Out of House and Home/ Home its where the Haunt is¨ ends with the Mcgee family being able to return to his own with the help of their neighbours. This scene is wonderful because they are all the people that Molly and the Mcgees have been helping throughout Season 1 and they returned them the favor when the family loses their home. ...However, the scene i want to highlight here is when Molly asks Scratch what is he going to do now since the curse that bounded them together is now broken. Scratch for a moment gets nervous, fakes that curse is still working (Molly fully knowing that Scratch is faking it) and gives Molly a hug telling her that he is staying to live with the Mcgees, who have become his family. It’s a very touching scene because in the first episodes he didn’t want anything to do with them. Over time Scratch starts to warm up to the Mcgees, in part due to lacking real friends and not having a real family. Watching this scene is an excellent conclusion for his arc during this season along with some moments during the Season finale.
Jurassic Park: Camp Cretacous - The protagonists are able to return to their homes.
I think this one doesn’t need much explanation. After being away from their families stuck on these islands for more than an year, watching the gang reunite with them was so worth it. These kids (now young adults) have been through so much and treated terribly by some adults. When you are watching the show, you are constanly thinking ¨When are these teens going to get a break?¨. The finale of this show is overall great and watching how they grew up after the time skip and they still keep in touch with each other was really well done.
Primal- Spear being able to save someone he loves and dying in peace.
Primal’s ending is controversial for how rushed it is. In spite of this, one thing i really liked is Spear feeling like he was able to ¨redeem¨ himself and dying happily knowing that he saved Fang and Mira. Spear’s reason to save Mira and the rest of her people in some ways had to do with him not being able to save his own father when he was little (revealed in a flashback) and his daughter and wife at the start of the show. He dealt with survivor guilt in that regard. He blamed himself for not being able to protect them. The point of the painting in the wall was that he felt like he had completed his journey in life. He freed Mira and Fang. Fang now has a nice place to live with her kids and Mira is back with her people. He later sacrificed himself to defeat the viking. And he was finally be able to at peace with himself for this.
Dogs in Space - Garbage redeems himself
Dogs in Space is a little show with 20 episodes about intelligent trained dogs who get send to space to find a new home for humanity. It has some interesting characters, good setting and story and is it a fun series to watch. The main ¨protagonist¨ of the show, Garbage, loses his position as captain in Season 2 because of some his actions Season 1. The whole season 2 is about him learning to take responsibilty of his actions better, considering how his reckless plans put others in trouble and seeing why Stella was chosen to be captain over him.
The scene in the finale he decides to give himself in to the enemy is the conclusion to all the development when he realizes that these aliens are attacking the station for his reckless actions in Season 1. For once he chooses to take the blame himself to spare the rest of the dogs in the station. While they stop the aliens in other way, is still a memorable scene since the main plot was about Garbage’s growth as character.
Inside Job - ¨You are just my father. A screw up¨
In Inside Job Part 2 episode 7, Reagan learns that her father, Rand, is trying to change reality for some unknown reason. When she reaches him, she finds out that he was only trying to find a reality he could be together with Tamiko, his ex-wife and Reagan again. Instead of puching her father down, Reagan approches him emotionally, explaning to him that relationships can be fixed like that and convinces Rand to give himself in.
Before Rand is taken to prison, they both have a brief conversation about how Rand would be better in prison so he has people who could prevent him from hurting himself and others and maybe getting the help he needs. Reagan also comes in terms with Rand not being her hero nor a villain- he is her father, who happened to be really bad at parenting and a ¨screw-up¨. It’s a satisfying scene for me because Reagan acknowledges her father’s abusive behaviour while not letting that define her. She doesn’t forgive Rand, she doesn’t have to after everything he did to her, but, she isn’t obsessed with getting revenge either since it isn’t worth it. She chooses to move on.
Rick and Morty- Rick goes to therapy by his own will.
Rick and Morty Season 6 proved to an improvement over Season 4 and Season 5 in some ways. One of the things it did that surprised many fans was an episode with the premise of Rick Sanchez going to therapy.
A character that has been known for running away from his problems, having self-destructive patterns and a lot of issues, after denying it for so much time, decided to get professional help. Why is this satisfying to watch you may ask? Because this is the person that seasons ago would have turned himself into a pickle and covered himself with rat blood than going to a psychologist. Yet, here in this episode he decides to go after Morty suggests him.
This is one of the best examples of how Rick has been changing the last seasons. He is realizing that he is a very toxic individual who often ends up messing up the lives of those around him. He is trying to be a better person even if he doesn’t know how to.
¨Analyze Piss¨ is an episode that brought a lot of discussion in the fandom about who Rick wants to be and if his family really wants him to change... or only in the way that is benefical to them. Despite of Rick’s trauma not getting explored in detail, other interesting parts of his personality got developed. What’s more, this story involves Pissmaster who in many ways is like Rick. .Rick goes to Pissmaster’s place to hang out with him...until he finds out that Pissmasters has commited suicide. Rick later gets very emotionally involved in ful filling this character’s last wish to be seen in a good light. He dresses up as Pissmaster and makes others believe this person is a superhero that he died trying to save others. It’s an unique approach to Rick’s character that i highly appreciated.
----------------
I’m sure there are other great moments from other shows. These are the ones i’m able to recall the most at the moment. Note that these are the most satisfying moments. I kept using that classification when writing this post. There other scenes worth of bringing up that would fit better in other categories.

i'm really hoping the direction take jake to much more of a protector role for the system - marc feels a lot of guilt over killing and steven straight up Does Not Like it, so I'd like to see jake portrayed more as "i'm doing this so they don't have to" instead of just bc he's violent. not only is the "evil alter" trope just incredibly toxic and an awful stereotype, but this alter is also latino coded, and making him have a more violent personality is in bad taste. i want to see jake be conflicted, and feeling trapped in the deal with khonsu - not liking the job but doing it to protect marc and steven. also i would love for marc and steven to change the language they use about themselves - rejecting the idea of being broken or having a sickness that was constantly brought up by others in the series. a lot of how did has been portrayed in this show is already a massive improvement on other mainstream media "rep" and i really don't want to be let down as the story continues

slowly falling in love with the concept that tim's public persona just. is not very well liked. people will talk about tim drake like "yeah that guy's kinda a dick". all his friends and family know he's a good person but tim just likes fucking with people. when he goes by drake he starts twitter drama with himself saying that red robin has always hated him and is using his name to annoy him. when his friends annoy him he goes on twitter and says shit like "idk i just think superboy is overrated :/ like tactile telekinesis ain't that cool bro" and people go fucking wild. i just think it's neat

i need like. jason and damian teaming up for pranks. they meet some new heroes or maybe as civilians meet some people in some sort of scenario, one of the people swears and jason is like
"hey! he's only thirteen!"
and they're all like "uhhh"
and damian just looks up all wide eyed and innocent and goes
"fuck"
and chaos breaks out. give me jason and damian convincing people they've corrupted damian in some way i think it would be hilarious

Hey no hate, you realize that you’re literally in love with your own version of Kazuichi right? Literally no one in this entire world thinks of Kazuichi the same way as you.
Heeheehee, yes! Ngl my ego is having a feast with that last sentence.
You've unlocked an essay! Have fun reading lol.
Honestly though, I do think of my Kazuichi as an extension of the og Kazuichi, but like, in a different timeline. Not an entirely different personality, even if it seems like that because I draw fanart of her at different points in time without much of an explanation.
I've been thinking about that rule of fandoms post I reblogged earlier. I feel like I only barely scratched the surface of a thought with my tags, but I only had a few minutes left in my break at work. Also, wasn't sure how personal I wanted to get on someone else's post.
At what point does fan-written character development end and "an entirely new character, completely different from the original" begin? Even characters in canon, written differently in some way, can be considered "not canon" by fans. Take "modern-day" Simpsons for example; there was one segment from a "recent" episode (honestly, I don't remember how long ago I heard this statement, so "recent" could mean anywhere from the past 10 years) where Bart genuinely asks "what's the 90s?" This made a lot of people angry, because Bart Simpson was a staple of the 1990s that embodied the vibes of that era, so hearing him say this felt like a far cry from his old self. This Bart is technically "canon," but a lot of people would argue that this is Not Bart Simpson.
Another example is Steven Universe Future. I did not like that epilogue season. I liked the 12-to-14 year old Steven's optimism, and it felt like they strayed so far from his character to have this kindhearted, loving character become so selfish and bitter and, there's no way to explain it without spoilers but he commits an act so heinous that I honestly felt like they took his blind rage too far just for shock value and sacrificed the entire character for it. But, some things just don't reach everybody. What I saw as "That's Not Steven", some people were able to enjoy and get a cathartic story of someone healing from trauma (I wish I felt the same about that show). For me, it was painful to watch, and I only finished the season to end my anxiety about it, seeing him get worse and nothing get better at the end of each episode was bringing me to tears ("Then how can you play Danganronpa if you're so sensitive?" you might ask? I have different expectations and standards for an edgy murder game for teenagers than I would for a kids' cartoon. I'm less shocked when violent acts happen in Danganronpa or Family Guy than I was at Steven Universe Future). Anyway I would consider this version of Steven Universe's character "not canon," and I cringe when people bring up his character in Steven Universe Future as canon, despite that, yeah, it's canon. It's canon but I hate that it's canon.
Anyway, I have a point here, and it is that what is considered strict canon to some may be considered more loosely by others. And fandoms are where we should be free to explore ideas that the writers cant do, whether it's because it doesn't fit the themes, or it isn't "marketable," or it's because the canon writers wouldn't come up with it, or just simply because you wanted to see it and no one can stop you. I understand some people have ideas about characters you'd want to keep the same, I do too! I hate when people reduce Kazuichi to just "fuckboy who flirts with Sonia and parties all the time and is really dumb" (tell me you fell for Kazuichi's act without telling me you fell for Kazuichi's act) or "sad pathetic meow meow" (like, aside from the "blorbo" language, this feels like one part of Kazuichi that gets misunderstood as the entirety of Kazuichi. Kazuichi can be pretty badass.)
Fandoms have been getting more picky and hostile lately (I'm realizing I have too, so I'm working on that), and I think we could all benefit from letting go of some of our stricter ideas about "sticking to canon" and being more easy-going about people writing a character differently than you would, especially because it's fanon. Because we're doing this on our own volition and not for a paycheck. Because kids writing for the first time shouldn't feel like quitting if they can't make the characters "on-model" or "in-character."
Also, Danganronpa at times is kind of poorly written and sexist, so why should I have to stress over adhering to the standards set by those writers and then carried on by teens in the fandom (who might be looking at it uncritically, not that I blame them they're still learning) when I can set some standards of my own?
The "canon" version of Kazuichi, according to the spinoff games I never played, is that she's forever doomed by the narrative to spend at least three years after graduation still pining over the same damn character who has repeatedly shown no interest. Also, doomed to keep the same appearance that she canonically doesn't like (and everyone else also looks exactly the same as their child selves). Like, this is the same character who changed her appearance in middle school because she was sick of being taken advantage of by people who didn't give a rats ass about her. There were other reasons too, but I feel like nobody talks about this one in particular: she wanted to change, so she did. So why does she need to keep the same appearance after that, when she's older and the stakes are lower and she's gone through so much and gotten some development in the second game's end? The meta reasons are so that Spike Chunsoft doesn't have to pay someone to update the sprite model, because Kazuichi is recognizable (marketable) in her canon look, and because it's easier to leave everything the same.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if Kazuichi wanted to keep the same appearance, that's what attracted me to her in the first place. But she herself isn't happy with it (evidence: the last FTE). I just filled in some blanks in the story in my own way, because there's a lot of ways to interpret her character and they don't have to fit in with whatever canon says is the way. I don't 100% trust Hajime's word, Chunsoft's word, or what other fans have to say. I'll listen to it, though, but yeah I am going with my own interpretation.
Don't worry, when I say "Kazuichi is a girl because I said so" I do mean my Kazuichi (and whoever else wants to make Kazuichi a girl, which, go for it!). I don't mean "I'll fight you on it if you think differently." My ideas for Kaz are just one possibility for her, there's tons of others and they're valid whether I personally care for them or not. I don't mind boy Kazuichi at all! I just...I love girls...so she is a girl. In my heart. On another level, I was tired of boy characters getting the cooler designs that don't have a boob focus, so when I saw her I was like "that one has to be a girl! I'm claiming her right now. And probably also a lesbian, just because!" And then I ended up adoring her, because she's so adhd/autistic and I relate a lot to her struggles in socializing and making friends. I hate when people say she's "not emotionally mature enough for friendships/relationships" (that's such a mean statement! I've heard it before about myself. It hurts to hear. ;-; It sounds very victim-blamey.) Yeah, her social problems from autism/adhd definitely play a large role in her problems in making and keeping friends, but another large reason she struggles is because other people don't get her, and that's not her fault. She tries, she tries way harder than I did when I was a teenager to make everyone like her, and it doesn't work, because other people can be shallow assholes who see a "weird kid" and just don't care. I'm not saying that's everybody who doesn't want to be friends with her, Kazuichi can also be mean and push people away and also can be bad at reading the room, but her struggle to make friends is not all everyone else's fault just like it's not all her fault. Some people just have too much neurodivergent swag or uncanny valley for others to get us. So we need to find each other.
Anyway, wow I guess I really needed to talk. It frustrates me that so much of my story is only in my head right now. I want to actually show the progression of Kazuichi's character (so that her character progression looks less like "I just pulled this out of my ass" and more like "I swear guys, I'm actually going somewhere with this! It'll make sense later!") and my s/i's character progression too (in the fanfic we grow alongside each other and because of each other), but it takes time to write a story when I'm also learning the work-life balance. This was my first year having a "real job" and of living alone, I basically get home after the 8 hours of busywork and then get to drawing Kazuichi and watching cartoons and playing video games. Trying to be really patient with myself.

Why are they writing away Haley’s future tbh they stuck her with the idiot loser guy and now she’s pregnant before she starts her life. So still an unintelligent ho. Not that that’s automatically bad but that’s where we were in the first episode, give me character development please, god this is so lame!
