Big snippet from Mizuki's past. I have one more chapter to properly plan out, 2-3 are almost done. Then big edits.

Camélia and the other girls were already there sitting in front of the fire. 

Mizuki took a spot on the unoccupied sofa and looked nervously between the trio. They looked at her as though she had interrupted some great conversation. 

“Are you settled in?” Camélia asked, 

Mizuki opened her mouth to speak and Madeleine quickly overspoke her. “The room is so nice, I can’t thank you enough for the chance to study under you.”

Camélia smiled warmly “It will be nice to teach properly again, to teach a more budding young sages-” Mizuki tensed in her seat. Camélia cleared her throat when she realised her wording “budding young minds.” Camélia waited until Mizuki had her own cup of tea before continuing. “I like being hands on with teaching my apprentices, so there will be a study period after your classes, at first it will be mostly making sure you fully understand your classwork and then it will move on to more practical lessons. I would like to make sure you can wield nouliths before they teach you, I think this method is far superior and utilises mana more efficiently. We shall pick a day that works well with our schedules.” 

Mizuki sipped her tea quietly, Camélia was clearly not used to having non-sage apprentices and even though she had picked Mizuki up almost 2 years ago now, she kept forgetting she wasn’t a part of the sage classes.

However, I am SUPER curious if their incantation signifies WHO they made their demon deal with!!

A funny thing I've noticed is that people tend to make Iruka's back scar diagonal but if you go back and re-read/rewatch that scene... it's vertical. A straight up and down line, you can even see the slice it made in his vest

And honestly? A vertical wound is worse imo, because a diagonal wound means there's a chance it only hit one bone, but a vertical like this? That's easily 2 or 3 at least, not to mention the actual chakra points in the spine too. Fuma Shuriken are even noted as being so deadly you aren't allowed to use them in the academy. The same academy that teaches kids how to fight with kunai and regular shuriken and probs some other weapons too. The same academy that lets the kids spar even if one of them has like a fireball jutsu but their opponent doesn't yet a Fuma Shuriken is where they go "this is too dangerous we forbid its use"

And Iruka not only takes this thing VERTICALLY TO THE SPINE he then proceeds to rip it out one-handed, throw it back, and keep fighting while the wound is bleeding. In the manga his wounds are even worse because he also still has regular kunai stuck in his legs arms and body like a pinchushion

Ended up ranting a bit there my bad the point of this post is that I make a little chuckle whenever I see art of him shirtless and this wound is diagonal instead of vertical I have no idea why everyone does that or where it stems from but it amuses me nonetheless

This is the type of stuff i Love reading in any fiction, the power struggles, and arguably the one between the Ministry of Justice and the Special Abilities Division is Just As Important as the one between the Agency and the Port Mafia. One can’t exist without the other, they’re in a constant loop. One for ungifted, the other for ability-users. They both use corruption to get what they want: for normal and for gifted people

Its all in the background yes, but you can even argue that the Special Abilities Division was created in response to the war and post-war paranoia presented from normal to gifted people. In Untold Origins the existence of Gifted People is kept hush-hush, one of the first chapters of BSd says that as a gifted, Atsushi would’ve struggled to find a job.

CHAPTER 1 REWRITTEN SUMMARY

Rui and Mizuki graduated colloge together. While Rui is a robotics engineer, Mizuki is finding their goal in life while helping Rui on the side. One day, while looking around in a junk yard, Mizuki finds a robot and asks Rui to look at it. Later they would find out the robot has the name "Tsukasa". Rui finds the robot fascinating and decides to take it home to repair. After he does repair him, Tsukasa turns on and observes his surroundings. Unfortunately, it seems that his memory card has been stolen, so Rui puts in a new one. But he still has his memory files, but again, because of the old memory card missing he can't really open the files. At the time, Rui was dating a girl named Nene. Rui caught his eye on Nene when she bumped into him in an alleyway. Rui admires Nene a lot; despite her ice cold skin and puppet-like eyes, she was perfect for him. One day, while he and Nene were on a date, Rui tells Nene about Tsukasa. Nene felt a kind of nostalgia and fear whenever he uttered his name, but she let Rui continue. Rui then offers her to meet with Tsukasa and she agrees. Rui brings Tsukasa to one of the parks near their home and introduces Nene to him. While Rui was explaining to Tsukasa what a girlfriend even is, he couldn't help but notice how Nene looked at Tsukasa. Almost like she saw a ghost. After he was done explaining, she wrapped his arm around Rui's and they began walking together. Tsukasa felt as he shouldn't walk with them, because they're meant to be with each other, he isn't meant to be anything yet. All of a sudden a kid crashes into Tsukasa, causing him to fall into a nearby river. Tsukasa hijacks but wakes up in Rui's workshop where he meets Mizuki for the first time. But then he meets someone else. A voice that talks to him in a mocking tone. He shakes it off, but he knows this won't be the last time he hears this voice. A few days later, Tsukasa's system gets hacked and a message gets sent to Rui.

"We will take him back to where he started"

This obviously freaked Rui out but the only thing to do was pretend everything was fine. Days pass by and Nene gets caught up in past memories. She remembers how she tried warning the love of her creation about the dangers of the environment they were in, but he didn't listen. He wanted to have hope in it, it was hard, but she had to leave him behind. Nene then confronts Rui and reveals most of things. She was a robot herself and was with Tsukasa when they were working together. This causes Rui to have a mental breakdown. His relationship of 3 years was an absolute lie, he couldn't handle it. He broke up with Nene and ran away in anger. He couldn't keep his anger though and when he went back home, he put all of it to Tsukasa to the point he shut him down and locked him up in a small room. This all backfires on him and causes him to have yet another breakdown. Then a purple haired robot appeared in front of Rui's window. The robot introduces herself as "Mafuyu". She explains how Tsukasa is in pain and a desperate situation, so instead of locking him up, he should help him. After calming Rui down, she leaves. Rui runs to Nene to have a talk and help him get Tsukasa out the room. Nene agrees and breaks down the door where Tsukasa was. The three of them have a warm conversation and Tsukasa reveals that he started remembering some of his past because of Nene. The latest one he remembers was the memory Nene was thinking about. They were definitely going to talk about this, but before that, they all neede a break.

Was rereading the first Naruto chapter just to get some Iruka panels for a moot and wow I completely misremembered the Mizuki relationship. Iruka actually is entirely fucking friendless in the manga! Mizuki's backstory of being a fellow orphan and childhood friend of him is both a fanon and anime invention, in fact Mizuki only mentions Iruka's parents as having died to the fox, and it's somewhat implied that he was the only kid in his class to have lost anyone in that attack. Look how depressing he is here

This is also an interesting bit of lore I forgot about and I'm pretty sure this is bc it gets retconned at some point later so that everyone knew he was the jinchuuriki from the jump. This was also back when Iruka's adult age was given as 25 rather than 22, so this bit of lore was probably meant to imply he was one of the people who fought the fox, since he would've been 13 at the time [so a genin] instead of 10 as he was in current canon

Honestly the timeframe stuff even back in these early days was still very wonky and messy so I guess Kishimoto is consistent in one thing and its being bad at timelines and having to retcon a bunch of stuff lolol

I'm excited to see what headcanons people share ^_^

Personal HC: the White Day card sets are all different kingdoms, but the belief that there was a war between the first two sets (White Knights and Imperial Soldiers) is incorrect.

The war was actually between the Aoi Kingdom and the Jounetsu Kingdom (what I'm dubbing the second and third sets, the first I've decided to call the Hina Kingdom. The Aoi, meaning blue, kingdom is ruled by the Aoyagi family, the Jounetsu, meaning passion, kingdom was ruled by the Yoisaki family but was taken over by the Asahina family, and the Hina, meaning warmth, Kingdom is ruled by the Hinomori family). Lady Asahina, or rather Queen Asahina, current ruler of Jounetsu wanted to marry her daughter to Prince Toya of the Aoi Kingdom. She wanted a powerful spouse for her daughter but King Harumichi denied the marriage, saying she had no true interest in Aoi and it's people. He had already planned to arrange a marriage between Toya and one of the Hinomori sisters.

Outraged, Queen Asahina kept sending letters asking him to reconsider, to think of how powerful Jounetsu and Aoi could be if their families united. King Harumichi wouldn't back down, even after he himself was denied by the Hinomoris. And so, Queen Asahina sent some of her men to invade Aoi.

No one knows who truly started the war, but so many things ended up happening during it, such as Mafuyu releasing Kanade from the dungeons (aka her new bedroom after the Asahina family took over her family's kingdom) and running of with her, disguised as knights.
