Drops in the rainforest series - My debut in the NFTs! (aka Genesis)

The sun was scorching the rainforest for a long time and finally the rain came - for almost a week! These drops are a sign of refreshment and restoration to the land.

It's countryside, noises of the family gathered nearby, it's morning, a chilly weather for Brazilian standards, a slow chilly breeze flowing once in a while.

This brings me back to my childhood each and every time! Mimosa pudica is not only nitrogen fixing and medicinal, but it’s also entertainment for hours. The leaves open up again after a few minutes in the same order that they closed. FOLHAS SENSITIVAS: POR QUE AS PLANTAS SE MOVIMENTAM? 🌱: É simples: as plantas são seres vivos e não gostam de serem comidas, ou seja, querem se proteger. Vem comigo, entender isso. 🌳: Um meio de evitar a herbivoria é empregado pela sensitiva (Mimosa spp. fotos acima), cujas folhas são compostas de muitos folíolos individuais conectados à nervura central por uma estrutura chamada pulvino. 🌱: Na base de cada folhinha, existem células capazes de perder água com grande rapidez. Isso acontece quando a planta recebe um estímulo externo — o toque, por exemplo. Nesse caso, dois elementos químicos presentes em seu organismo — potássio e cálcio — direcionam a água para um espaço entre as células. 🐗: Se um inseto herbívoro morde um folíolo de mimosa, o folíolo danificado dobra-se imediatamente, e a resposta logo propaga-se para os outros folíolos não danificados. Se o sinal de estresse for suficientemente forte, toda a folha colapsa, devido à ação de outro pulvino localizado na base do pecíolo. 🌱: Tais movimentos rápidos de folíolos e folhas podem afastar insetos fitófagos e herbívoros pastejadores, surpreendendo-os. 😅: Quando você está encurralado ou em perigo, você busca proteção, certo? As plantas são assim também. O curioso é que quanto mais forte o toque, maior é o número de folhas que se fecham. Mas o efeito é temporário: depois de um tempo sem ser tocada, a planta restabelece o equilíbrio de água em seu interior e as folhas voltam a abrir. 💚: E aí, incrível né? Gostou?
