I live in Michigan y'all.

Yesterday it was 73° degrees.

Last night there was a tornado.

Today it is below freezing and snowing.

Typical February.

trufax! My hometown is on the shore of Lake Michigan and has never hit 100f in the time the high and low temps have been recorded. Even the record low is not the worst Ibe experienced.

Also, lake effect snow is....different. like half the now that falls is normal, and the rest is...I don't know, thicker? It's heavy and wet and sticky so you can take a shovel and just cut block out of the snow and build kick ass snow forts with minimal effort.

Whereabouts do you live, roughly speaking, and what drew you to that place in particular?

I'm in Michigan, and that's as specifically as I will answer that question! We have really lethal lakes.

Michigan upcoming weather calls for partly sunny to mostly sunny days and mid 40s and 50 degree days 😄

The thought makes me happy, but I'll be on vacation, somewhere even warmer. All I ask upon return is for more weather like that.

Field corn -

After days of full sun and no rain, this is how field corn reacts. The leaves curl up probably so the sun doesn’t dry the plant up any more than it has already.

Below is the picture of the same field from 4 days ago I posted here.

Just look at how green and full the leaves are. I think we got rain coming tomorrow.

The end of November

is usually marked here by plenty of visits from Nuthatches (White and Redbreasted), woodpeckers, Bluebirds, Chickadees and the regulars (MoDo, Blue Jay, Cardi, House Finches), but this year, bird activity is low with mostly the regulars. I guess there’s plenty to eat in the north so less have migrated. But there have been lots of feisty Goldfinches here lately. Come on, winter!
