im trying to find promo materials for the 2012 love: go masao! movie and i swear ive come across one that involved 99 but i cant find it for the life of me and now im watching a 2011 mechaike where shingo’s the guest but all he does is sit there “charmingly”

also i found the 2007 mechaike where he gets beat up by a bunch of bald men

People who whine about MM having “no TV experience” are bonkers. There are idols who represent their entire group, have had much less TV exposure, hit it out of the park with 1-2 appearances and then became popular. When Perfume finally appeared on TV in 2007 they became popular after only appearing on a couple of shows which caused demand and got them 2 variety shows just 6 months later. Same with Denpagumi in 2013. If you want a more relevant example, Momochi on Mechaike in 2011 when she was 19. She was on with at least 5 other groups but threw herself out there and became an overnight sensation which led to her becoming a variety star. Same with Sayu’s first London Hearts appearance at 20 and she became a regular soon after. MM have had many, many variety chances and haven’t impressed industry people enough. They’re not made to be a variety group and that’s fine.
