H: oh come oooooooonnnnnnn don't you want to be a hero!!

J: well um yes but not forcefully!! Look man im i-(he sighs) look man im going to get fired from my job what will my family think!

H: why do you care? I bet you they love to have a hero in the family!!

J: well you are right but what if we can't find who stole it!! I would have lost my job for nothing and then i- have to go back to them a then they be disappointed an- i i can't no non nononononon(jaxter start hyperventilating)

8H: wow! Ok calm down calm down! Breathe breathe! Is going to be fine

J:( continuing to hyperventilate but starting to calm down) ok ok 10 (he starts to breathe in and out) 9 (in) 8 (out) 7 (in) 6 (out) ( he takes one final breath) all right im calm im calm sorry about that its just i- never mind I'm sorry its personal

H: hey its all right everyone has a panic attack now and then

J: he yea 

( a little bit later at night time)

H: all righty Matilda that should do it now don't you want wander off now (eh eh)

J: he the horse is right that joke sucked

J: yea you tell yourself that(he said cheekily)

H: yea yea so(hyllindrix pulls out a "map") where we heading next hm… like im don't know where we're going( it is the "map" is a blank piece of paper with Townsville the only thing on it)

J: your new to the granular desert aren't you?

H: yes. I was hopeing you knew where to go <:)

J: well sorry to say but i live in townvile all my life i don't where to go next. sorry

H: well fuck hey don't worry its fine hm… oh!

J: oh! If we keep going straight we should end up seeing the maroon City! The mayor or someone else should know where it is!

H: great! Then'll well go there tomorrow!!

H: hey.

J:yea?

H: why are you scared to disappoint your family?

J: um well is just i don't want to let them down you know <:)

H: yea yea! But you ok you look a bit uncomfortable you aren't getting abused are you(he said in a concern tone)

J:  NO NO!! (He said quickly) they're great parents I love them dearly but (he sighed) hey can we talk about it tomorrow morning?

H: of course of course! I pretty tired anyway!!

J: ok thanks its a personal topic

H: ok buddy night!

J:  night!

H: (in his head) i hope he's ok he didn't sound like he like talking about his parents at all

( the next day)

J:hyllindrix wake up!!

H: eh? What going on?

J: we been robbed!!

H: OH SHIT!! My stuff!!! Oh shit oh shit!!(he quickly checks his bag) my map my guns(he feels the top of his head)my.. My.. MY HAT!!!!!

J: yea whoever the asshole is who did this left this card

J: hey don't worry( trying desperately to not start panicking himself) the card hints to where they went to i don't know why but it seems like a lot of Bandits are more on the risky side or dumber side i don't know

H: THEN WHAT DOES IT SAY TELL ME MAN WE HAVE TO GET THIS HOE AND GET MY HAT BACK!!!

J: ok ok calm down!! It saids "it seems like your stuff is gone sorry about that But i know were it is if you go to maroon City you will find it in the crows nest to find your treasure ;)" why they would tell this I don't know but it says there name is the rotten Bandit who do you think it-

H: I DON'T CARE KICKING THERE ASS!! COME ON LET'S GO NOW!!!

J: jeez. Look i know you want your hat back but this is more serious than I hat I'm pretty sure that was spying on us

H: that's something to think about later getting the or stuff back is something to think about now(hyllindrix grabs jaxter and jumps on Matilda the horse)

J: AH!! Not again!!

H: LETS GO KICK SOME ASS!!!!

(And then run into the sunset)

(A few hours later)

H: oh man were is the maroon city it feels like we been out here you said if keep going straight we should be there by um…. Did you have to give a Time?

J: no. look i don't really know when will get there but my dad did go here once and it took 2 days

H: 2 DAYS??

J: yea but we were walking since yesterday so it should take at least 1 more day 

H: oh well that's a little bit better cuz being with all my hat for that long could be dangerous for the Ba- what.. Who is that?

J: what do you me-oh!

( the two of them see a tall Slender Man in a black robe with the hoodie covering his face a long spiral horn coming out from they're head the person clearly is panicking)

?: she is so grounded when I find her omg where did she go oh my god!!

H: eh um hey!

J: hey are you ok?

?: oh im sorry!! Let me come over( the strange man run over in a unnatural speeds it almost look like they were flying)

H: oh jeez! Um hi there my name is hyllindrix and this is jaxter we just wanted to know if you were okay 

J: uh yea what he said he he <:) (in his head)

God why is this man so TALL? Like he's huge they are the biggest person I ever seen!!

?: oh! Sorry my name is de-cuk! Cough cough! Sorry my name is dave <:)

H:ok? It sounded like you were looking for someone uh you need us to help?(thinking to himself)why do i feel like i see him before?

d: well i was trying to find my daughter she ran off in a few hours ago and i been trying to find her ever since I'm really worried sorry about bothering you about this but can you help me find her?

H: of course my good sir! Where did she run off too?

J: yea if she ran off to the place we're going we should be able to find her

d: oh thank you so much well we we're going to Maroon City for my job interview but she run off 

H: oh yeah we're going there now don't worry sir! We should find her a jiffy!

d: thank you thank you!! We should start going now!! Or you should start going now

J: what us aren't you going there too?

H: yea aren't you coming too?

d: well yes of course!! But i can't have people seeing me sorry boys but i will met you there can you turn around for a minute please

H:ok( he turns around immediately)

J: what no-(he it's spun around by Dave and then quickly looks back around) HEY what wa-oh shit they're gone! 

H: wh-oh shit you right!

J: well they must of went to Maroon city but why couldn't they just come with with us and where did they go so fast! No one should be able to move that fast!!

H: lets go to maroon city and find out!

J: ok we only have a choice now anyway never really did(in head) god this is the weirdest 2 days in my life

H: well in that case let go!!(hyllindrix whips Matilda which intern makes her go fast as hell)

h: huff!

J: OH GOD SLOW DOWN!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHH

Have two characters drawn in my personal take on the early rubberhose animation style!

First character is Cat, first designed and created by my good friend foxxy-tf! She was created first, and later inspired me to create Tilly. Modeled after 20s Flapper girls. Definitely does alcohol smuggling on the side.

I actually tried drawing her several times but struggled with the proportions until late last year, when I finally got it with this drawing. Drawing Sonic characters for much of 2022 really helped.

Second character is mine! Matilda, aka Tilly the Filly! Dressed up like a classic cabbie driver. She is a cab driver by day and a getaway driver by night! I initially made a design for her back in 2020 but never did much with her, until I was inspired to draw her stylistically in line with Foxxy's Cat.

Her taxi meter can print out receipts for the things she smuggles inside her car!

I’ve talked so much about them on here, but it’s scattered, and quite a lot of it has evolved lore wise

So let’s make this that master post:

Basic lore for this universe:

Set in a non specific time of the Wild West (implied to be the tail end of the era)

But with a magical twist. The folklore of things that are not quite human living alongside humanity is real, and they are hunted for their skin. It is a known fact that shapeshifters exist, and they are illegal. Though some peoples “magic blood” don’t always show itself as Shapeshifting, it can also appear as accelerated healing or acute senses. These people are generally referred to as beasts or animals

These transformations are hard on “beasts,” they take up a lot of strength to preform them, and if you’re injured in one form, it can take time before you’re able to switch. If you’re injured enough it can be permanent.

Brunette: Flora Guerra

She was born to an Italian immigrant family with strict parents, as well as the youngest daughter to five other children. When she was 16, her parents arranged a courtship with a much older man. Flora was furious, this rage culminated in her first transformation, unfortunately this happened in front of the man as well as the rest of her family. They immediately turned their backs on her, disgusted with what she was. Terrified, she fled. She hopped on trains and resorted to petty theft to make her way west, to a land she hoped would be freer than the life she left behind!

Her first big brush with the law was when she stole her horse Bandit from a man who was treating him poorly. She fled the scene but only after shooting one officer. (Thus her first ever bounty was for murder)

Her main way of making money was seducing men and robbing them blind while they were distracted by her beauty, unfortunately she picked up the wrong trick one day, a notorious gang leader, who instead of shooting her outright, brought a then 17 year old Flora back to his gang. She became “his girl” and used her looks to help him get what he wanted.

In the gang however there was one man who was like her! He could turn into a wolf, like how she could turn into a jackalope, they formed a bond, and when the gang fell apart, he was the one to get her out safely.

Ginger: Mattie (Matilda) Hayes

Mattie is the eldest daughter of her odd family. Her father and mother immigrated from Ireland, her mother dying during childbirth of her youngest child, Ben. Because of this, Mattie became the sole caretaker of him, very much raising him herself. The entire family were beasts of some sort.

Mattie could turn into a fox from a young age, her brother as well started to transform around the same time. (Though he was a cougar)

Their father, was also odd, in more ways than just beastly. He was a sour old man with a mean streak, drink had a mighty hold on him. After an incident that broke the camels back, involving hateful words and a smashed beer bottle, Mattie had enough. In a fit of rage she set fire to her father’s barn, in the aftermath She packed her bags and set to leave. She tried to get Ben to come, but he refused and told her to never come back. So she listened.

At 18, her and her horse June travelled the desert, finding odd jobs, pulling off some robberies, and failing at pickpocketing, this left her with quite a price on her head.

After a couple years of travelling by herself, the way she preferred, she ran into Flora for the first time.

First meeting:

They met as their animals first, Mattie was trying to hunt Flora but got startled by her horns.

Later on, she was trying to rob a man on the side of the road. Only for Flora to swoop in at the last moment and get the trick instead. (By “saving” the man, but picking his wallet a moment later)

That night, Mattie was nursing her hurt ego by drinking her weight at a saloon, but alas she couldn’t even enjoy her whiskey in peace, when the woman who stole her prize sat down at the bar with her.

Pissed off Mattie tried to storm away but bumped into an angry drunk, this turned into a full on bar fight. Which Flora dragged her away from and offered to patch up her wounds

They stuck together after that. But didn’t become lovers till much later

Flora fell first, but Mattie fell harder.

Anyways main plot:

Word gets to Mattie that her father is dead, and her younger brother has resorted to a life crime. He is being set to hang once he’s caught. She sets out to find him.

Flora’s old gang has picked up on her location, and they are hunting her down. Scared for Mattie’s safety she works with her old friend to figure out how to keep them off their trail.

The two of them have also been found out to be beasts by the law, so on top of being wanted because of their crimes, they are also being stalked by beast hunters.

Everything seems to be going okay, Mattie finds Ben, and together her and Flora help him get away from the noose, they look after him and bring them to their camp. They thought they were evading the hunters as well as the gang.

What they didn’t know was that Ben still held a grudge for Mattie leaving. He blames her for their father’s ultimate death.

He rats them out, not only to the hunters, but to Flora’s old gang. He figured that if he gave them their location, the law would let him go. They took the bargain.

The hunters and the gang ambush them, Ben leading the way.

Flora gets injured during the fight in her human form. Ben nearly kills her.

The siblings go head to head in their beastly forms, and against all odds, the fox beats the lion, killing the last remaining member of her family.

Flora, incredibly injured, cannot transform, and for reasons unknown to Mattie, she cannot switch back.

Years pass, Flora has a limp that doesn’t go away. She is never able to be her animal again. And Mattie, well, she didn’t get too injured that day, though it seems like something broke inside because she lost her human form.

They move north together, and live a peaceful life, even though it’s not quite normal. What with Mattie being a fox and all that.

A decade or so after everything, they’ve been out of the life for a long time, is when Mattie finally finds herself again. Though she’s very different to what she used to be, her human form had changed, more fox like and more wild, though still her. She can only take that form for bits at a time, but it’s something. They’re happy

I drew this wayyy earlier in this NaNoWriMo Season. Like November 3rd maybe?  

So one of my main complaints with Anne Bronte’s Agnes Grey is actually the portrayal of Rosalie and Matilda Murray (none of my followers/mutuals are probably surprised, I’m sure).

So Vicar Hatfield is hitting on 17 year old Rosalie...Yeah, gross. In 1847 when the novel came out, it was acceptable for full grown ass adult men to do that. So instead of maybe demonizing the child (or children in this case because 15 year old Matilda functions as Rosalie’s side kick in Agnes Grey) maybe we should reframe that story in its proper light? Cue Kesha’s “Dinosaur” on full blast. 

Yeah, Rosalie is a bit of a Victorian Regina George and Matilda is her rude horse-loving sister (read Victorian gender/sexuality code: a butch lesbian). Basically, they are both supposed to be examples Anne Bronte uses to tell little Victorian girls how not to be. Ouch.

The top panel is Anne Bronte’s versions of Matilda and Rosalie because they’re technically the second arc villains of her text as they are unpleasant to Agnes, the heroine, specifically and everyone else in general. 

And the bottom panel is closer to how they are in my NaNo project. I felt bad for both of them in the original book. At the end of the book, Rosalie is in a loveless marriage (not to Hatfield thank God) and the new governess (not Agnes) is trying to break Matilda’s spirit and force her to conform to the ideals of a straight Victorian Lady. :/

So I decided to answer the question of what happens next for Matilda (and other characters though she was my focal character for this project) with my NaNo project. I also explain why Rosalie and Matilda were horrible when Agnes knew them as well as many other things. The Markhams from The Tenant of Wildfell Hall will appear briefly in the story too as well of a boat load of fictional Victorian lesbians and gay men who befriend Matilda as she lives multiple lives across the second half of the 19th century. 

I basically reclaimed the Murray girls and rewrote their stories. Is that unhinged of me? Very possibly- especially since they aren’t supposed to be the heroines- but that’s what I’ve been working on this past month along side my grad studies.
