NWA week in review - 3/4 Dec
Well, it's Sunday here in Australia, so you know what that means. Time to recap this week's NWA offerings.
Powerrr
blunt force trauma debut. apparently they're rodney mack and marshe rockett. marshe was a jobber in impact
mike knox has a shirt that says "its me... mike from wrestling"
baby doll has an announcement, but she's not ready to announce it, so samantha starr has a match
she loses. looked alright
mims and mercurio are here. mercurio is a fabio type guy. they're gonna be in the revolution rumble, and if they win, they get a shot at the wildcat title. not any of the nwa ones. ok.
main event. cardonas vs the spectaculars. if spectaculars win, matt cardona will face rolondo and if he wins THAT he takes any future championship oppourtunity matt cardona gets, but if the cardonas win, they get 5 minutes in the ring with rolondo in a handicap.
this is stupid for various reasons i might detail in another post.
these guys have a chippendale gimmick?
its not news but man cardonas theme sucks
we get another unrelated recap, this time to the women's match from usa
cardonas beat up spectaculars in the corner so they get dqed and lose
cardona wins the follow up, of course
USA
this is the revolution rumble apparently. like i said whoever wins gets a shot at the wildcat title
apparently hawx aerie made their name here
its wild cats 11 year anniversary
after the intro there are already 8 people in the ring. the only names i recognise are larry d and rhett titus
its over the top rope elimination until the final two guys, where it becomes a standard match
competitors will ender every minute after 5 minutes and there are 23. weird number but ok
apparently luke hawx won the last one
the last entrant is magic jake dumas. he has a injured foot, though, so the final entrant is actually jennacide
odinson and rhett titus are the final two
i googled the title because i was curious about some facts about it and the title they're challenging for isn't even the main title, it's the midcard belt
well, rhett titus wins
nothing too glorious this year other than a match having stupid rules, so see you next time

Long time CHIKARA fans remember King of Trios 2008 when an unknown trio from the Midwest called Da Soul Touchaz stole the weekend and the hearts of the Chikarmy. They became an intermittent staple of CHIKARA for years, but, they haven’t been seen in CHKARA since the 2013 Tag World Grand Prix. That changes on May 26th when CHIKARA returns to Chicago and the Logan Square Auditorium. The original Soul Touchaz triumvirate of Marshe Rockett, Acid Jaz, and Willie ‘da Bomb’ Richardson will unite to take on the Creatures of the Deep. Will this be a successful homecoming for Chicago’s favorite sons, or will Oceanea’s charges stake their claim as the trio of today?
“Aniversario: Scotch Mist” - Saturday, May 26th - Chicago, IL
1. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (The Estonian ThunderFrog, Air Wolf & Wildcat) vs. The Proteus Wheel (Callux the Castigator, Frantik & Volgar)
2. Da Soul Touchaz ( Marshe Rockett, Acid Jaz & Willie ‘da Bomb’ Richardson) vs. The Creatures of the Deep (Merlok, Hermit Crab & Cajun Crawdad)

Chris Silvio [May 25th, 2017]
At last night’s NXT tapings, “The Psychedelic Superstar” Chris Silvio made his NXT debut against Jeet Rama. It was a losing effort, but so slick to see photos of a guy who’s helped me so much gaining notoriety and success. This also comes off of several Impact Wrestling tapings, where Silvio’s faced off against the likes of Kongo Kong, Andrew Everett, and Marshe Rockett. Go get ‘em, Chris!

Broadway on Main
By Cynthia Close, Burlington Writers Workshop
A review of 42nd Street, on the Flynn MainStage, Monday, March 27.
Broadway came with a grand flourish to the Flynn MainStage Monday night in the form of the award-winning musical, 42nd Street. It was clear, right from the outset, that the superb sound system would telegraph every tap from the toes of this exquisite dance ensemble and that the evening would deliver beyond our expectations. We must thank the aptly named Big League Productions, who were the guys behind the scenes, for bringing this level of glitz and glam to Vermont.
It takes at least a village (there were over 50 bios listed in the program, not including the orchestra or any staff personal) to put on a musical with this much power. There was not a weak link in the entire production. The synchronization of the ensemble dancers reminded me of the incredible, precise high-kicking Rockettes that I admired during my childhood when I attended their holiday performances at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan.
Roger Kirk gets the credit for the fabulous fashion design that so perfectly set the tone, time, and place of 1930s urban America, but with a decidedly body-baring, contemporary flair.
Clara Cox was adorable as she sang and danced her way through the lead role of the young Peggy Sawyer from Allentown, PA, who almost had her hopes of making it as a star on Broadway dashed when she gets fired near the end of the first act. But it was the dancing, humor, and singing of Gerrianne Genga as Maggie Jones that drove the action and moved the story along. While the female ensemble dancers stole the stage for this viewer, I’d have to give the outstanding vocalist award to Matthew J. Taylor, who played the director, Julian Marsh. His rendition of Lullaby of Broadway and his reprise of 42nd Street in the finale were richly satisfying.
The appreciative audience packed the Flynn to overflowing. My companion remarked that he’d rarely seen so many people in one place here in our sparsely populated state. For this former New Yorker, it almost felt like Broadway as we pushed our way through the mobbed lobby, out into the still-cold Vermont early spring night.
