#Manfred: that movie wasn't nearly as good as the old version

Random headcanon: Manfred would've hated the live action release of The Little Mermaid that came out last year. But not for the same reasons anyone else disliked it - he doesn't care about live action vs animated movies, and he certainly doesn't think they made it too 'woke'

It's because he grew up with the older and darker versions of popular fairy tales told to him as a kid. Those stories are supposed to traumatize children, not entertain them with whimsical singing fish and the power of love saving the day, and if a kid doesn't come out of the theatre and have nightmares the next night then clearly the movie did something wrong.
