HIGHLAND TOPPER

Palomino Champion—Washington State International Show 1948

Mr. Lorne Irwin, Rosalia, Washington, is the proud owner of this beautiful six-year-old Palomino, Highland Topper. This stallion, formerly was owned by Mr. Wilfred Hall, Toppenish, Washington, the founder and Captain of the King County Sheriff's Posse—a silver-mounted, all-Palomino drill team. Mr. Hall is up and will be remembered by many on the West Coast as leading the Posse with Highland Topper and also in many parades in and near Seattle.

Since he was purchased by Mr. Irwin on May 26, 1948, the stallion has beaten all horses in the Palomino class in the Pacific North west and climaxed his victories in October by winning the Washington State International Palomino championship at Seattle. He has been entered in nine shows since he has been in Mr. Irwin's possession, and has won fourteen blue ribbons in parade, Palomino and stallion in-hand classes.

Any horseman would be proud to own a horse (regardless of his perfect golden color) that could equal the conformation, manners and spirited action of Highland Topper.

This outstanding Palomino champion may be seen at the Irwin Ranch at Rosalia, Washington.

Zelda held the sheikah slate in front of them, digging through recently recovered photos from over a century ago. The one before them now contained a fiery-haired woman leading a chestnut-colored horse from a field, atop the steed was a little girl with short dirty blonde hair gripping the saddle for dear life.

"Do you remember them?" Zelda prompted, as she had for nearly every picture that featured a person, it was impossible to know exactly what he remembered, sometimes he recalled vague memories of swimming with the Zora or sneaking into Gerudo Town but had to guess when his own father's face graced the screen.

"That was your aunt Malonie, she ran Lon Lon Ranch, I think you told me once that she taught you how to ride a horse. And that's her daughter, Ilya, I think this is her first time riding, she was begging to learn for ages but she was too small to go on her own." She said, after letting Link's silence go on for a moment.

"That's your horse I think, I never really knew her name because you only referred to her with terms of endearment. It was always honey, and sweetie, and darling, and princess."

"That was her name." Link uttered quietly. "She was stubborn and she was given to me when I was appointed as your knight so I called her princess."

"I don't know whether or not to be offended about that..." Zelda muttered as she swiped to the next image.

rounds 2 and 3 will be sort of "flash rounds" and last 1 day each, while the semifinals and final round will last 1 week each-- round 2 starts tomorrow! voting highlights will be under the cut

the poll that received the most votes was sidney vs. amanda, with a total of 2,188! and yes i know this was a brutal first round matchup-- sidney won by 3.8%, or around 83 votes! rest assured, mandy will return for the sequel. until then, sidney keeps on being the final girl of all time

this was followed up by heather vs. vanessa, with a total of 1,393 votes! unlike sidney vs. amanda, heather won by 66.2% or 922 votes. these 2 matchups naturally received the 1st and 2nd most notes as well

joan vs. mary lou spent quite a bit of time at 50/50 towards the end, with joan ultimately pulling ahead! this also led to my favorite tag i've seen on a poll here yet: "we are livin' for leaven / malony is baloney"-- maybe mary lou will be back for revenge (again)

jessica vs. momo accidentally only a lasted a day instead of a week due to a misclick (oops)

the biggest percent difference was in pearl vs. lexy, which pearl won by 73% or ~280 votes!

reminder: should a sequel tournament take place (and it probably will, given the amount of people who ran into this poll after submissions had closed), any character who loses rounds 1 or 2 can be resubmitted to compete again!
