Who was going to tell me that the rest of the world has pretty squirrels.
This is the Malaysian black giant squirrel. He looks almost prehistoric, I think he's awesome
The is the Indian giant squirrel. I'm in love, look at that fur color????

The Ratufa squirrel, or Indian giant squirrel, or the Malabar giant squirrel. The squirrels’ bodies can grow up to 14 inches, and can measure up to three feet including the tail.

Next up in "that's a pokemon or quirked animal wtf" we have the Indian Giant Squirrel.
Previous entries in the Real Life Pokedex include the bearded vulture which dyes its white feathers with red/orange dirt/mud:
And this doesn't get into crazy natural abilities exhibited by real animals. Or the absolute insanity that is ocean life or insects.

If I may delight you further with more unusual squirrels?
The tufted ground squirrel or groove-toothed squirrel (Rheithrosciurus macrotis) native only to the island of Borneo. They have the largest tail-to-body ratio of any mammal- their tail is 130% of it own body. Local legends call them "Vampire Squirrels" and say that they wait in trees for deer to pass beneath and then fall upon them and drink their blood (They actually eat nuts).
The Indian giant squirrel or Malabar giant squirrel (Ratufa indica), native to India. Looks like it was drawn by your favorite sparkle artist with rave-ready colors of gold, magenta, and blue-black/purple.
You may think you've seen some cute flying squirrels before... but have you seen the Red and White Giant Flying Squirrel (Petaurista alborufus)?
This... this is a pokemon you guys...
Supposedly a real animal that lives in China.
best thing about tumblr is seeing pictures of Weird Creatures I’d never heard of before

You're a furry!?!? WHAT'S YOUR FURSONA CAN WE SEE IT PLEASE?!
sdhkfj im so sorry but im not (?) a furry.....well depending on who you ask i guess? i've made sonic and pony characters before just for kicks which kind of counts? though ik some people would vehemently disagree with that. i think fursonas and all are super cool but tbh im not much into making OCs in general, human or otherwise ik youre coming off the anthrocon post - a good friend of mine decided she was gonna go, i knew a good place to stay in pittsburgh, and i like going to events :] it was super fun and the fursuits there were incredible!! super impressed with it all. we went and saw floor wars too and idk how people can dance so good in full suits but its crazy..
if my warrior cats phase lasted longer than a year i suspect i wouldve gone the furry route but percy jackson and danny phantom and stuff infected my brain instead and put me on a different path
though if i ever do make a fursona ill for sure post it here!!
#my friend said my fursona would be a pine marten though so maybe i should drwa that sometime.#my sonic characters are:#stupid the weasel. but he goes by stu#and purple the squirrel who we like to call squirple#squirple is a malabar giant squirrel because i think theyre super cool and also theyre purple#the pony i made was a mystery machine colored pony. also i think i drew miles and phoenix ponies. idk#i love drawing horses? idk that feels appropriate to state here as well#ask#luciferten

I follow a lot of rat blogs because i love them and they all have "rodent" in the name, and then I see your blog and get confused by the lack of rats even though I've been following you for years for all the other stuff XD
I'm happy to be a source of confusion for you lol!
I mean, I unironically do love rodents though, so maybe some more genuine squirrelposting (that's not just me calling myself squirrel and ranting about my video game du jour) is in order? :)
#squirrel speaks#i've kinda been thinking about changing my icon because of this exact thing tho lol#because i was thinking that i might get mistaken for a disciplined and curated poster of rodents if there's not enough of a disharmony#between url and icon#fun fact my icon is a malabar giant squirrel#a ratufa indica if you will#and i chose it because 1. it's cute and 2. it's bisexual-purple#what's not to love you know
