one time at an American Gods signing in MN, we asked you if Tori would be the voice of the Tree
you said, and I quote, "If she isn't, I shall grumble."
did you grumble, Neil?
well, did you?
Why would I have grumbled?

This is AtlasIntel's current projection for November. They were the most accurate pollster in 2020. They have the Don winning in a landslide, with an earth-shattering 340 EVs, including NH, MN and VA! They also have Trump winning the popular vote by 3 percentage points!
Remember though, this map will not happen if you stay home! Go vote (early if possible), and take frens and family with you! Make it too big to rig!

I understand where you're coming from with that post and obviously battleground states matter the most of all. But the truth is that any state could flip depending on how many people choose to vote. There have been historic red or blue states that flip and can change the outcome of an election. And truth be told, I'm in a deep red state where a lot of Republicans have told me they didn't vote because it was going to be red anyway so there was no point standing out in the cold when it wouldn't matter. Imagine how many of those people are on either party, and what could happen if enough of them sat out and enough of the opposing side stepped up then any state could flip. It's not likely but it's not impossible. And with the extremely low democratic voter turn out in comparison to 2020, it was absolutely up to people to vote blue to swing the election and because they didn't. We once again have Donald Trump as president. Especially people who did not show up to vote (because they chose not to obviously, not because they were unable to for legitimate reasons) it's absolutely their fault we're in this situation because the Republicans were going to vote for the fascist, and people didn't do what they could to stop that fascist from winning
Aye, I see your point, I do. And on a certain level I agree with it. But I also know what I physically see in my home state of MN.
When I say that it was completely red outside of the 2 main metro areas, that is not a joke. I've lived in the metro for the past 5 years now, and the people here are much more diverse and socially aware of the problems that plague this country. But I also grew up in the sticks up north before that. For the 2016 and 2020 elections all I saw where Trump signs. All I heard customers talking about while I served them food was how much they love Trump and he is gonna save America. And most of these people where older folks, farmers, etc... and it still didn't matter. MN was always gonna be blue. As it has been for the past 52 years. So in my home state, knowing people, even relatives who voted for Trump, 3rd party, or not at all. I don't feel angry with them, because even though Trump won, they personally didn't make it happen. Our 10 electoral votes went to Kamala.
For the states that went red though like Texas, and down in the Bible belt. (A place that I honestly can't view without biased due to northern pride) I'm sure that tons of educated and caring people went out and voted Blue. But in those places, racism, bigotry, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia run rampant. I personally never expected them to be anything other than red.
No it's the swing states that are to blame in my opinion. They could have changed things and they didn't.
So in conclusion (for me) I feel no anger towards the red voters in my state as their votes didn't matter. And I feel sorrow and pitty for the blue voters in the Red states for the same reason, and I pray to the old gods that yall most at risk are able to take measures to protect yourselves and your loved ones.

Yet Another Wood-engraved Feathursday
CINDY KOOPMAN
This 10 x 8 in (20.4 x 20.32 cm) wood engraving entitled Grasshopper (because, after all, there are some grasshoppers in it) by Minnesota artist Cindy Koopman is very reminiscent of our daily experience here in Special Collections. Every day, sometimes three or four times a day, the green roof outside our windows gets visited by a gang of 3-7 crows that investigate the undergrowth, jump and flutter about, toss random objects into the air, and on occasion actually take a slide down the solar panels on the roof just for fun! They are endlessly fascinating, and every day when they arrive all work stops in Special Collections and the entire staff line up along the windows to watch crows be crows for five minutes or so. It's just a part of our workday, but also one of its highlights.
Cindy Koopman is a Minnesota artist with an MFA in printmaking, and is a faculty member at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN. This print was selected for inclusion in the Fourth Triennial Exhibition 2020-2022 of the American wood engravers society, the Wood Engravers’ Network (WEN), and the image is from the catalog for that traveling show.

I'm going to enjoy watching the GOP try their absolute hardest to cast normie liberal Walz as "the most far-left Marxist Leninist Maoist Commie" alive, and America's Coach Walz is just going to turn to the camera while he's out fishing and is like, "Get a load of these weirdos, would ya."
Plus, Walz has spent so much time around the GOP in Nebraska and Minnesota that he knows how to handle them.
Mankato, where he's from, is in MN's 1st Congressional District, which has a Cook PVI rating of R+7. The 1st district went for Trump in 2020 54%-44%...but it went Walz 52%-45% in 2022 and Walz 50%-47% in 2018, and Walz was the only statewide Democrat to win the district. The only other Dem to successfully carry the 1st was Amy Klobuchar in 2018, 54%-42%.

People on TV talking about how "oh Walz only outran Biden by a fraction of a percent in 2022" seem to forget one thing: BIDEN WON IN 2020.
Why is running close to the guy that won a bad thing? Also, like, winning by 8% in Minnesota is pretty damn solid. Hilary Clinton won it by less than 2%. Obama won MN by 7% in 2012. Biden out ran both the polling and conventional wisdom in 2020
Tumblr media
It's kind of absurd. In that same election, Tina Smith won her Senate seat by 5%. And Walz won by that same margin in a year that was *more tough* for Democrats in 2022. If you actually look at the numbers, its much more impressive.
Also anyone saying "oh but BLM burning Minneapolis blah blah blah," as if that wasn't an ineffective message in 2020 *when the protests were happening*

anything to be hopeful about?
I've made myself sick the past few days out of fear, and I know a lot of people are probably feeling even worse.
ty.
I’m so sorry you’re going through that, I know it’s rough. There are some things to be hopeful about though!
Trump can’t pardon himself from state convictions, that falls on the state.
The State of New York is still prosecuting and sentencing Trump. If he is sentenced he would have to spend the 4 years of his presidency in jail.
Arizona Attorney General, Kris Meyes, said “As you know, I have a fake electors case in Arizona and have no intention of giving that case up –– I have no intention of dropping that case." She still plans to pursue the case against Trump’s allies who tried to overturn the 2020 election.
As votes continue to be counted, Dems have gained multiple seats in the Senate. Democrats have taken seats in: AZ, CA, CT, DE, MA, MD, MI, MN, NJ, NM, NV, NY, RI, VA, WA, WI. Still the minority but there’s less of an overwhelming majority. In the senate seats so far are 46 (D) - 53 (R).
Dems have also gained multiple seats in the House which has lessened the majority somewhat. So far House seats are 204 (D) - 214 (R).
With more seats in the House and Senate, there will be more pushback against proposals by the republicans.

An associate college professor who was appointed to the Minnesota State Department of Education by Gov. Tim Walz called for the U.S. to be "overthrown" and "deconstructed" in a video posted over two years ago. Walz is now the vice presidential nominee for the Democratic Party.
Brian Lozenski, Ph.D., is an associate professor of urban and multicultural education in the Education Studies Department at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, according to his personal blog.
He is also affiliated with several organizations, such as the Education for Liberation Network, or EdLib MN, Network for the Development of Children of African Descent, and the Twin Cities Solidarity Committee.
Lozenski was appointed to the state’s department of education by Walz to help write the framework of ethnic studies standards, as well.
TIM WALZ'S SCHOOL LUNCH FIASCO GOT SCAMMED FOR $250 MILLION RIGHT UNDER HIS NOSE
In a video first reported on by the National Review and posted to YouTube on June 19, 2022, by The Solidarity Network, Lozenski spoke about his research with a panel. He even touched on Critical Race Theory, a school of thought that generally focuses on how power structures and institutions affect racial minorities. The video was removed from YouTube late Wednesday evening.
"We don’t use critical race theory in school," Lozenski said. "The first tenet of critical race theory is that the United States, as constructed, is irreversibly racist. So, if the nation state, as constructed, is irreversibly racist, then it must be done with. It must be overthrown.
"We can be like, ‘Oh no, critical race theory is just about telling our stories and diversity,’" he added. "It’s not about that. It’s about overgrowth. It is insurgent."
HARRIS NOW MUM ON REPARATIONS SHE SIGNALED SUPPORT FOR IN 2020 WHITE HOUSE RUN
Lozenski also told the panel they need to be more honest with that idea because many people do not understand critical race theory.
"It’s an anti-state theory that says the United States needs to be deconstructed, period," Lozenski said.
Fox News Digital has reached out to both Walz and Lozenski for comment on the statements the department of education appointee made.
According to a Wall Street Journal article last month, the Walz administration in Minnesota has relied on committed political activists like Lozenski to design and guide the implementation of the state’s education agenda.
One of the groups Lozenski is part of, EdLib MN, is focused on becoming a political force in Minnesota and to "contend with the status quo of colonial education that prioritizes Eurocentric curricula," according to its website.
