Instead of using dice, cards, flipping a coin, etc., random elements are decided via a Jeopardy! board.
Categories are:

NPC Names
What Happened Last Session
Rules We Keep Forgetting About
GM's Favorite Snacks
Potpourri
I don't know a lot about Jeopardy but I'm very confused how this would work

Listen, the X-Files is just alchemy. That’s all it is. It’s that actor and that actress with that chemistry and that writing at that time.
It’s Duchovny deciding that Mulder will always check in with Scully to see what she thinks. It’s Chris Carter writing two characters that had nothing but mutual respect and support for each other. It’s Gillian Anderson getting her first big break and refusing to smile. It’s the mood of Vancouver. It’s the mid-nineties attention to multiculturalism and alternative media. It’s the emergence of the internet with the show. It’s a million different things that starts and ends with synergy and alchemy. That’s it. And that’s also why it endures.

🤣 🤣 🤣 ROFLMAO YEAH
wirt from otgw really is one of the best written teenage characters ever i think. like. he's 15-16-ish and wants people to take him seriously SO badly, but he also struggles to take responsibility for most things. he's dripping with anxiety. he overcomplicates everything in his mind but sometimes he has lapses of impulse. he can be surprisingly blunt when he's angry. he can't help but hate his little half-brother (and stepdad) out of spite and it takes both of them nearly dying for him to start working through those feelings. he's really creative but he keeps his interests in poetry and the clarinet a secret because he thinks it's fucking embarrassing. he reads real estate magazines and knows a lot about architecture and interior design, which is such a random little detail but i love it. he's self-conscious and lowkey suicidial and always assumes the worst in other people's view of him, but BASICALLY EVERYONE BACK HOME LIKES HIM, including the girl he has a massive crush on, and he just can't see it because he never makes an effort to reach out. every minor stepback feels like the end of the world to him. he has no idea who he is or what he wants.

I remember when I was a teenager my father got into it with a conservative college buddy of his at a barbeque on the topic of abortion. And he got frustrated and said, look, if the government ran a service where you could take a baby under a year old that you decided you didn't want anymore for whatever reason, and they'd take the baby from you, and they'd just chop it's head clean off right then and there, what would you do about that, politically? And the other guy was like, well, I'd join an armed insurgency or something. To which my father said, well, in that case on some level you clearly don't actually believe that a fertilized embryo is morally the same as a baby or you'd be part of an armed insurgency now.
And, you know, in hindsight there are obviously holes in this line of reasoning you can comfortably drive a hummer through, a focus on being pithy to the exclusion of good theory of mind. But regardless I think "what if the government ran a tax-subsidized baby-decapitation service" has gotta be in the top ten funniest things to say out loud to a person when you're both at a barbecue

a minor analysis of Manepear's manipulation (mane-ipulation)
A few thoughts to frame the discussion: Clownpierce has the mace; Clownpierce has not yet died. Clownpierce doesn't log on very often, and of everyone on the server Clownpierce is closest to Kaboodle.
With that in mind... 1hr 13min into 'A New Leaf..?', after a lot of open honest conversation about the war, morality, honour and Mane's potential as an interior decorator, Kaboodle brings up her constancy towards Clownpierce and Manepear starts telling her she should put herself first, because Clown doesn't.
He starts with the basic, obvious facts: Clown doesn't log on very often, he's never attacked Mane for her, he's never sacrificed himself for her like she has for him. Even... Woogie..? backs him up on all that.
Then she starts bringing up counter-examples and he pushes back, with subtle mis-framings like "it would have been easy for him to say I searched for Mapic on purpose so that I could get back for you" when, like, I saw that video and I bet you did too, he said that to Mapicc, and not to Kaboodle. Or brushing off that time he did fight Mane's team as if there's "10 people he knows he's not going to get targeted and if he gets a kill on Main and Flame that would be huge for him", when, uh, it's not that Mane has specific knowledge that the other group chat was considering jumping Clown for the mace earlier in the day, but I do feel that dynamic is sufficiently common knowledge.
I've actually had this thought before because I thought that he was, I was, I was confident that he was betraying me cuz I was thinking like "why would Clownpierce betray and and use everybody except for me? how does that make any sense? why would I be the only one?" and it doesn't make sense like nothing would make me special
Drawing parallels digs into her fears without him directly saying she's not special so as to elicit sympathy and not offense. (and pay no attention to the dissimilarities in their relationships to clown)
I think it was easy for him to defend you from Subz because he knows that he can kill Subz but if it was me in that situation I'm not so sure if he would he would have done the same thing
(y'know i didn't actually notice at the time that uh that's a very different line than his Subz Glazing to Zam&Mapicc)
Mane: did he leave my alliance or did I force him out? Kab: you did force him out Mane: he didn't have a choice not to choose you Kab: yeah that's a horrible... Mane: [crosstalk] he could have at least shot me a DM—wait! Oh my gosh! I just remembered
Things I did not notice on first listen: sorry, when could he have shot you a DM? When you turned on him?? No, no, that segue makes no sense. Mane absolutely did not "just remember". DMs only came into this because he wanted a segue into: his climactic reveal.
When I was looking for your base, I told him about my, my plan to find you using dogs, and he was telling me how to do it more efficiently.
So. Let's look at [the screenshots that i copied off someone else o7]
The first thing that stood out to me, as I was watching the stream, was this: Mane says "he was telling me how to do it more efficiently", and then he lets Kab stew in that for a bit, and then he sends her these screenshots. The framing is set up. But there is not one line in there that is Clown giving Mane advice on how to track her.
The nearest he gets to advice is "she knows when you do tho". Mane glosses that to Kab as "he was telling me exactly what not to do as well", but listen: look at it. The closest he gets to advice is: maybe don't track her. Maybe you shouldn't even try.
Mane asked "what should I say", he relates it like it's another example of advice, which looks like it could lead to advice, and then the screenshot cuts off. And... it's shorter than the first one. We know for an absolute fact that the height is not limited by, say, the height of the screen. It cuts off there because whatever comes after that does not back up the narrative Mane's selling her.
Laughing about her, saying she's scared: it's emotionally affecting, but it's not actionable information. It does not help Mane find Kab. All it does is give the feeling that Clown is on Mane's side.
After exiting the conversation Kaboodle grieves to chat about it; she starts off thinking of it as"actively telling Mane how to find me is, is..." but a few minutes later she's caught on to "if you look at the messages he's not actively selling me out"; she has prior history of coming back the next day going hang on...
Very interested to see how far she gets with it. That thing with the dogs was streamed live; I watched it. The memory of it tickled at my brain, so after today's ended I tracked it down, and found:
youtube
Clownpierce: Did he find the manepears? What? Kaboodle: So all the manepears teleported to me when they hit, when he hit them. Clown: [AWKWARD LAUGHTER] Kab, fearless: I'm thousands of blocks away, I'm really far away. Clownpierce: Maybe they... they sometimes do move in the direction they teleport to, maybe he knows the location. Maybe - maybe move around.
Clownpierce was DMing Manepear saying "ok good idea"—and then, on a call with Kaboodle, telling her Mane's tactic and what to do about it.
:)
(He doesn't maximally betray Mane, he doesn't tell her he knows Mane's doing that or tell her before it starts happening; there's a degree of trying to stay on both sides. But he isn't neutral, and he is ultimately, materially, on Kab's side.)
I, like Kaboodle, saw Manepear's "removing all netherite" video and really enjoyed it (the twists genuinely surprised me) but there was this doubt where—videos and not streams usually feel this way to me—I wasn't sure whether, to convince the server that he wasn't the guy on his friend's account, he had to actually convince them. I just knew that was a kind of story he wanted to tell, and hoped he'd try it on Lifesteal.
Now, though, I believe it. I've seen maybe two other fandom people even doubting this. I believe he did because I see he can. And oh my goodness I love it.

A lot of it served the narrative.
At first, Jason had to be a "defective" Robin to provide a Watsonian explanation for why they wouldn't just kill Tim. (The Doylist explanation? Wabbit mandate, and besides, Starlin was working at Marvel now.)
Then came Jason's return. Now they really needed to emphasize Jason as a villain. (Which really doesn't work, since Green Arrow featured Ollie meeting Jason and Hal in heaven, thinking Jason was Dick, and being corrected by Hal.)
Red Hood and the Outlaws flips the script with Bruce and Dick rejecting Jason, with Dick refusing to answer Jason's phone call. Originally, Dick was in space at the time, and did not take the news well. And while he didn't go to Jason's funeral, that was only because Bruce didn't tell him about it. But none of that works in a Titans-less DCU, so Scott Lobdell had to change it.
Modern Batman comics talking about when Jason Todd was Robin: He was brutal. Unstable. I should've seen the signs... done a better job of training him... raising him...
When Jason Todd was actually Robin:

The one thing that seeing the full s2 script solidified for me is that Edwina’s defining character flaw is not naiveté but self-absorption instead.
A lot of people attribute Edwina not clocking anything before 2x06 as ‘innocence’ or argue that it was because she was ‘sheltered’. But honestly, the truth is she had it pointed out to her, not just by Kate, who kept trying all the way leading upto the wedding, but even by Daphne, Anthony’s own sister. Yet, she disregards both their perspectives, because it didn’t happen to her.
When Kate tells her about feeling humiliated by Anthony, Edwina’s main argument seems to be that he didn’t really do anything to humiliate her. When Daphne points out that Anthony is not even-tempered, Edwina’s main argument seems to be that he’s even-tempered with her. That’s what counts to her. Even over and above how he’s with his family.
I think that having Kate focus all her attention on Edwina during her childhood, made Edwina direct her own attention inwards, towards herself. That’s how she grew up. We know that Kate sacrificed and scraped pennies to keep them afloat and later to get them to England. So, it’s reasonable that Edwina was her sole focus while she was growing up and that’s what Edwina internalised.
You can even see both their character flaws play out in the scene where Kate has just woken up from her coma.
Even as she’s recovering from a life-threatening head injury, Kate is focusing on Edwina and Edwina is focusing on herself.
I especially think that the things Edwina did end up noticing make this argument stronger. The moment she actually looks at Anthony at the altar, she’s able to piece together the story. Had her obliviousness been due to innocence, she would have not have drawn the conclusion that she did. To know that Anthony “would never look at her, the same way he looks at Kate”, she has to recognise and interpret the signs of love, attraction, and desire, which she does very readily.
Then, why did she not see it before? Because she simply never paid attention to it before. And I’m including Anthony in this, because when she really looks at his face, on the altar, she’s able to tell immediately. All throughout the season, she’s only been paying attention to how he makes her feel, rather than him.
Kate’s character flaw is self-sacrifice and Edwina’s is self-absorption and both of these things drive the season 2 plot.
#bridgerton#anthony bridgerton#kate sharma#kate sharma x anthony bridgerton#kanthony#bridgerton analysis#bridgerton season two#meta#writing#I also want to say that neither of these flaws are truly addressed#Kate keeps waiting for Edwina to grant her permission even upto episode 8#willing to go back to India and sacrifice love for the sake of it#and Edwina as I mentioned in the post#but this was already too long#so let me settle for this

Bucky's blue color coding is one of my favorite consistencies with him, as well as how consistent red is with negativity for him.
His blue coat during the war always makes me smile?? Every chance Bucky gets he picks blue.
Blue was still a feminine color back then, it only really became considered masculine and pink a feminine color heading into the 50s. It's just interesting to me that Bucky consistently picks blue, his all blue suit to Sarah's funeral is the equivalent of wearing an all pink suit now.
Steve's costume was designed for him based off the flag and aside from one greyish-blue jacket after his mother's funeral, he mostly chooses to wear muted, warm tones like browns, yellows and reds like other men in CATFA, especially Howard who wears a lot of red during CATFA. In the modern era Steve does also wear a lot of blue, but that could just be because of modern influences idk.
Every time we see Bucky dressed in something he would've chosen for himself pre-war it's blue, and even post-Winter Soldier he mostly wears blue with only once wearing a red shirt (when he was in hiding in Romania, when he presumably didn't have the liberty of being picky.) I'd almost say Bucky associates red as a negative color... Arnim Zola's bow tie he would've no doubt been wearing while he experimented on Bucky, Red Skull, blood, the HYDRA symbol, the Red Room, the Winter Soldier notebook, the red star on his arm, the Iron Man suit, the wall in his apartment in Romania (and arguably his red shirt in Romania too, since he was on the run and then mind controlled wearing it.) To a MUCH less severe degree, his and Sam's hostility with each other follows Sam's whole run with the red Falcon suit. Also lmao the suit he asks the Wakandans for for Sam is a lot less red than Sam's comic book CA suit is, the wings for example. This part is a reach but it's still a funny coincidence.

fingerring
wade and vanessa say hello not with a handshake but with a "pinky shake". after she propositions him and he checks her out.
it's not a full handshake because it's "just the tip" of the hand. a pinky shake is a promise of a little taste with a tease of full contact.
an accepted proposition, "teaming up" together, is a pinky shake. it's "giving a fuck" together.
a pinky shake doesn't last forever though, because that's not the forever finger--the ring finger, the marriage finger. the pinky is a proposition, the ring is the proposal. the ring is "teaming up" forever.
in the void, logan assumes they're "teaming up". wade says "the answer is yes", which is the answer to the proposal. it was possible to shake on it, but instead logan opts for claws and "gets the tip" of the handshake. he gets the pinky, the ring, and inbetween:
that spans everything from "giving a fuck" to forever. logan was agreeing to wade's proposition with a promise of "full contact", and counterproposing for forever.
wade gives him a heartfelt fuck about it.
fingering/finger ring joke. what is a cinnamon ring if not a gold band you slide home through?

These types need to be made official and taught at school because just reading the names I knew what was going on and what they meant
I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw, a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

What's interesting to me about The Adventures of Dr. McNinja is that despite the fact that it was in many ways the poster child for it's specific brand of early-oughts-twenty-tens LOLrandom online humor, the climax and resolution of the comic felt like a repudiation of that humor. The endgame big bad is the embodiment of prioritizing coolness and spectacle to the exclusion of taking anything else at all seriously, and the titular Doctor's character arc ends with his sitcom-strained relationship with his family finally collapsing in a way it can't recover from, leading to him ducking out of the lifestyle and going into hiding to live anonymously as a bog-standard general practitioner.

controversial but I actually am always right so whatever but I kind of...think the whole "you only did that because I rejected you" scene is super duper misinterpreted heehee sorry but I am god so I'm right. no but seriously, it's because I don't think Will, who constantly showed just how he couldn't accept that Hannibal could love or have this type of feeling, specially towards him, could've predicted that Hannibal fucking Lecter would've surrendered to the fbi.
I think when he says that to Hannibal, in prison, he just meant "stop trying to get me to take you back, I know you only surrendered because I rejected you, you fucking flight risk, you won't let me have you unless I keep rejecting you and chasing", he literally says "I knew you would keep running if I kept chasing", but I don't think he meant oh yeah I totally counted on you FUCKING GIVING UP YOUR WHOLE LIFE TO PROBABLY GET THE DEATH SENTENCE like no guys hold up there is zero evidence for that in fact there's opposite evidence, being that Will just kept turning a blind eye to Hannibal's "better nature" as he said in his dream, "I wasn't aware you had one". Maybe he thought Hannibal would've settled somewhere but fucking surrender his whole LIFE? no and I think that fucking face Will makes and then just walks away is a fed up face like UGH WHY YOU FUCKING WHORE I MEANT FOR YOU TO SURRENDER TO MEEEE NOT THEM UGH FUCK YOU BYE
anyway this is my opinion law the absolute truth
